Be Focused – Focus Timer for Negative User Reviews

Ok but does weird stuffFor instance stopped counting when it demanded that I write this review. Also doesn’t seem to link to Apple Watch.Version: 2.0.1

It’s definitely the best but iOS problemsTried this timer out as an alternative to just using my iPhone timer and it was working really nicely. So much so I bought the macOS pro version and recently also bought the iOS pro version so I could sync and enjoy this useful app. However, my iOS version makes no notification sounds or alerts, even when set up. Tried having my phone on silent/off silent, changing focus modes - everything! Once this gets sorted it’s a 5* app for me, especially the pro syncing versions. But until then, it’s a bit frustrating as I don’t always want to be checking my phone to see if I should be on break or focusing… defeats the point!.Version: 2.1.1

Two problemsI’ve been trying to find an effective pomodoro app that connects to my watch to keep me on task. After giving this one a shot for a day I already had two major issues. The first issue I have is the inconsistency with which my watch tells me my time is up. Sometimes it buzzes to let me know and sometimes it doesn’t. My second major issue is the discrepancy between my phone and my watch. It’s like they’re on two separate timers. I’ll pause it on my watch but it keeps going on my phone which leads to my phone telling me I’m due for a break when really I’m not. I guess I’ll keep looking for an app that meets my needs..Version: 1.7.5

Buggy - options don't work properlyIf you just want to use this as a basic 25/15 timer with no extra features, this app will work fine. But the feature that lets you give the items on your task list custom times doesn't work. You can set it to whatever time, but as soon as you hit start, it's going to go for 25 regardless of what you set it to. Also, there's a blank task item you can't get rid of that's just kinda there for no reason. You can't even edit it to use it for one of your tasks. You can edit the time but not the name. The basic timer works, but there are plenty of other pomodoro apps that are just a timer. The point of choosing this one was that it supposedly had some extra features, but they don't work..Version: 1.7.5

Problem on Apple WatchReally nice app except for one significant flaw: end-of-timer notification on my Apple Watch is unreliable. I want to say that the vibration alert (what Apple calls haptics) starts working as expected after the 3rd or 4th interval, or pomodoro, but I haven’t spent enough time verifying this is consistently true. All I know is that the several days I’ve tried this app the timer expires without an alert on my watch, at least for the first handle of intervals, which defeats the point of using a timer. Will definitely give 5 stars if this issue is resolved..Version: 1.7.5

Not impressedFor one thing, as I am trying to learn the basic mavigation I am distracted by banner ads and pushes to upgrade. Dude, I am not going to upgrade before I know what the app really does. I consider that to be taking advantage of the impulsivity of adhders. the company knows people with adhd are impulsive shoppers and they want to "get them" while they are buzzing about the novelty of a new app. Trust me on that one. Second, i plugged in one task for last night. It's done and it wont go away now. I hit the only button I see ( top) which says"done" , it erases the task until I switch pages. Come back and the task is still there. At which point I give up. Not interested and don't need the stress.Version: 2.2.1

Purchasable! Yay! Doesn’t sync w watchI bought the full app, excited there’s purchasable, not subscription, apps! But disappointed it doesn’t sync with my watch or have complications, even though there’s a watch app :(.Version: 2.3

Good but still laggingThe app on its free version can still be set in different ways. However, there’s no way to start your pomodoro technique from scratch. Basically, the cicle will go from where you left it last time. Hope he solves this issue that is really annoying..Version: 2.0.2

Bye bye watch appI love this app and was considering getting the pro version however with watchOS 5 coming out later this year this app will no longer be compatible because the developers aren’t updating it. It’s quite bug ridden on the watch and it’s disappointing. Time to look for a new pomodoro timer.Version: 1.7.1

Really GreatThis app is super helpful to staying on task, although there are a few improvements that could be made. Overall I think the design could be tweaked so it’s not so robotic looking, it wold be great if we could change the colour of the pie charts. Also to have the timer open on your lock screen would be awesome as well, so you don’t need to continually go in to the app to see how much longer you’ve got to go. This is a great app and the idea behind it is fantastic, this changes would definitely help boost it to a 5 star rating 👍🏼.Version: 1.7.5

Very buggyTimings of new tasks continue to backdate from the present time, so setting future tasks is impossible. Intervals add up even if you delete them. Deleting this app and trying another! Disappointing..Version: 1.6.2

Overall it does the jobI have had this for a while, it has a simple layout and is relatively easy to use. However, its not very customisable and you can’t set specific timings for each task so you have to go through the settings everytime - it doesn’t take that much time but it can be frustrating.Version: 2.1.1

MisleadingWith paid desktop version, I downloaded iOS version. Was prepared to pay but Get button made no mention of in-app purchase to access features like sync across (yeah: last paragraph after expanding description). Not transparent, not good practice. Deleting both apps. Bye.Version: 1.7.5

Great features but a battery drainI like this app for its functionality. The timer works fine, you can track different activities and you can see stats of work intervals. But if I use this for an entire day - around 7 hours of studying, it consumes 33% of my battery - and this is for an iPhone which is only 4 months old. I really don’t understand why it is so energy inefficient..Version: 2.0.2

Good app with intrusive pop upI like the app except on two fronts. Firstly you can’t select a study time greater than 1 hour which is really annoying but more annoying is this pop up over my screen EVERY DAY asking me to upgrade. I’ve selected NO 483 times but the next day it asks me again anyway. To top it off the ad won’t go until you’ve pressed the X button 4 or 5 times ( you know the one) I’ll be looking for another one less annoying. Bye.Version: 1.7.6

Decent but looking for something elseThe app is useful, certainly. The interface is a bit confusing to get to grips with, including how you make use of different tasks, such as when you want a different set of timer and break parameters. It will choose the default and you have to have set up a custom setting, and go through an unintuitive menu to change. Also, while the Dynamic Island/Lock Screen setting on newer iPhones is helpful, it is dysfunctional in that it stays on zero at the end of an interval even though the timer is continuing on with the next one. Opening the app makes this reflect the current timer but then the issue repeats..Version: 2.3.1

A Few ThingsSeeing as how this app hasn’t been updated in over a year, I doubt anything will be done about this. It tracks time and tasks well, I like the categorization of tasks feature. My issues lie with the Watch app being hit or miss as to whether you can begin tracking from the app. Sometimes it works, I can literally see the clock ticking away. Then I check it a few minutes later and it has reset as if it was never started in the first place, and no progress is logged for the task even if the allotted time has passed. Which brings me to my second issue... notifications. The app is again unreliable in chiming when time is up. It does this on both the phone and the watch. It makes it difficult to take breaks when time is up, or to know when a break is over and it’s time to begin working again..Version: 1.6.2

Pro upgrade promises much but not worth itThe free version of this Pomodoro task timer is perfectly adequate. The iOS app has a few shortcomings: mostly that it won't ring if your device is switched off. It's a bit deceptive as the timer will continue to go down in the background but then it just won't ring (!) The alternative is to drain your phone's battery. I purchase the so called Pro app for my Mac. It promised to remove ads (check) and to work across devices. Sting in that tail: you need to buy a separate license for iOS... Cheeky is the only polite comment I could think of..Version: 1.6.2

Sound Doesn’t Work WellI love the app overall, but if my iPhone is on silent, the end work/end break notifications don’t sound—even if the in-app volume is up. This makes it hard to use the app at all; I work in an office and don’t want all my phone notifications going off while I work, causing not only myself but my coworkers to get distracted. I wouldn’t mind the occasional short timer going off, but it’s all or nothing. I am disappointed because I love the premise of this app but it’s just not practical with the sound issues..Version: 1.7.5

Great design and options, but notifications sounds do not workThis app has great design. The tasks features and custom options are useful. However a key component of a timing app such as this is to alert you when your work time and break times are finished and it fails to do that. The notification will pop-up sometimes, but the sound never comes on. I’ve tested this at various time intervals and made sure the volume was at max and it doesn’t work. The sound alert is central to apps like this and it’s unreliable. The Mac app doesn’t seem to have this problem..Version: 2.0.1

Crashes all the timeVery nice app but always crashes randomly when I am using it :(.Version: 1.6.2

Wiped All My Data & Doesn’t Notify When the Round EndsI’ve been using this app for a few years to track my studying. It very inconsistently notifies you when the round is complete (sometimes it will make noise, sometimes it just ends silently) so it’s not a very effective tool for the little it does. However, I kept using it to keep track of the amount of studying I did and just used my phone timer to make sure I knew when a round ended. Today it updated and wiped all my history. I’m a little disappointed because the only thing I was really using it for at this point was accountability for myself and tracking - the tracking and timing features are flawed, which are literally the only reasons for using the app. I won’t be using this anymore..Version: 2.3

App works great butIt would’ve been 5 stars if not for the amount of data they collect from users..Version: 2.1.1

Insidious ad cityThis would be a 5 star review but for one thing: adverts. And it’s not the showing of the adverts - it’s that even if you delete the app, clear everything from safari etc, when you login again the app will still remember the same ads it showed you before. So it’s annoying and untrustworthy, otherwise it could have been a good app. Avoid. Edit: the developer comment makes it worse. The issue is not the ads. The issue is the lack of privacy, it gets information about your preferences even if you delete it and clear safari. It still tailors ads based on your previous purchases on safari. Avoid harder. Second Edit: another developer comment that doesn’t reflect reality. I deleted my safari history, deleted BeFocused, added it again, and it still gave me ads from my usual clothes shops etc. Should be called BigBrotherFocused.Version: 2.0.1

UpgradeThe app is cool and helps a lot but it will be better that it starts automatically at a given time that will ease revision.Version: 2.1.1
