A bit buggy and not the bestI was really hopefully about this app, but it doesn't quite deliver. The filters (which is one of the main selling points) are okay but not outstanding - nothing you can't get elsewhere, at lest from what I've seen. However this biggest issue is that it's buggy. If you apply a filter and then go and adjust your image, the filter gets removed and you have to start all over again. Doesn't happen every time but often enough to make it not usable for me. Nice idea but I think I'll stick with the other photo editing apps I've got..Version: 2.1

Infuriating experienceI use the most current iPad Pro, and it still isn’t enough to thwart the amount of times the Colorstory app will crash, especially during the save process. This has been an on-going problem. 3 years in, it’s no wonder I’ve migrated to other apps to give more consistency and stability. Just a poor experience all-round - this is just the first time I’ve been exasperated enough to write a review and help others stay away from this bug-riddled app..Version: 4.2.2

Lost all my purchased appsI have been using this app for years and have been really happy with it. I’ve spent about $50 on different filter packs and effects over that time however, I go to create a new saved filter today and all my filter packs I purchased are no longer showing as purchased. The only way to use them is to purchase them again! I have updated the app along with deleting and reinstalling the app to no avail. I would not recommend this app at all..Version: 4.0.4

It’s great when it worksI love this app. They really listen to what we need, and do updates that make it easier to edit. They added blemish removal, and perspective changes. However, it’s only my favorite app when it works. Many times I’ve spent half an hour + editing one photo, only to have the app close out automatically and not save. Also, it closes out anytime I try to go to my grid. Sometimes when I save and grid photos, it doesn’t save the photo, and crashes every time I try to go to my grid. I paid for the upgrade to the app, so idk why it doesn’t work. I also can’t use anything on my iPad, which is linked to my phone. I’ve paid for the year sub. on my iPad as well as my phone, and it charged me but won’t let me use unless I pay. There’s no sign in or anything. It’s just frustrating because I’ve lost a lot of really good work, and I do really love the app. Just don’t expect to have your work when your completed..Version: 4.4.1

Crashing Issues & No Landscape Mode for iPad Users.I love this app and use it regularly on my phone, however it’s a nightmare to use on my iPad Pro. I’ve sent feedback about this before - the app can only be physically used in portrait mode, so rotating my phone or iPad onto its side is useless as it won’t autorotate. This is something that would make editing from an iPad much, much easier - especially if you’re using a 12.9 iPad Pro like I am. Since the latest update the app constantly crashes when trying to select a photo from my camera roll so now I have to resort to editing on my phone again. I love this app but can only give it 2 stars right now..Version: 3.2

Cool appGreat for quick editing and colouring photos.Version: 4.9.2

Used to love this appI’ve had this editing app for at least 3 years, and have bought all of the filter packs as they came along. At $2-$3 per pack it’s not a big deal, but when I’ve definitely paid for at least 20, maybe 30 of them, it’s kind of an investment. Since they rolled out the monthly subscription price, something I would be interested in had I not already purchased all of the packs, the app has gotten more and more glitchy, to the point where I can’t edit a single photo or video and save it without it crashing, not saving what I’d done. I love the filters and all of the capabilities of this app which is why I’ve dedicated so much time and money into it, but it’s very frustrating to not even be able to use it at all, let alone have an option for the monthly subscription that deducts the cost of what I’ve already paid. I’ve been a loyal customer for 3 years, I also have their sister app, Filmm+ which has presented all of the same problems and won’t let me save anything anymore. Please fix these problems and I’ll return to these apps..Version: 4.1.6

Too expensiveThe free functionality is very limited compared to the free default photo editing functions you get with an iPhone. There are umpteen extras you can pay for around £3 each. You have to pay before you can find out what they do, which I don't want to do. There's no demo I can find on them and it keeps telling you to go to Instagram. I wanted a stand-alone that works by itself and this isn't it. You can get full functionality photo editing apps for three pounds so it's not worth throwing money at this app just to find out if it's any good. I deleted it..Version: 4.1.5

For as much as it costs, you’d think all features were accessibleI’ve been tired of using many photo editing apps,I’ll get used to them, even enjoy them, then suddenly features that WERE available slowly become part of a subscription plan. So I decided to give A Color Story a shot & actually consider paying for a year subscription. I was in that trial period when I realized this app is no different than the others. Can only utilize a very small aspect. If I can’t experiment with all the features of an app, then I’m not willing to pay for it. So I canceled my trial & deleted my app. But I’m still showing a pending subscription charge linked to my Apple ID. The app isn’t very helpful in guiding me on how to confirm that I will not be charged once that trial period is over. Can someone help?.Version: 4.9.2

Best filtersEasy to use, cheap to add extensions + really good quality.Version: 4.9.8

FalsePaid for some filters and effects. And now it’s asking me pay for a subscription to use them..Version: 4.9.6

LoveGreat filters ! Could be better quality though.Version: 2.0.5

Good app, could use improvementI just started using this app. while I like the color filters, I don't like that each pack is $2.99, seems a bit pricey. there are a few that's cheaper I might try them first, it's reminiscent of hipstamatic, which is also pricey but worth it for the lens effects. this app just has filters. also I like the feature of being able to take photos in the app and edit right there. given you have the time. and the ability to batch edit. but the camera app is lacking a few things, such as the ability to take pictures with the volume button which comes in handy sometimes. it also seems to start out with the flash on in rectangular mode which is annoying. there doesn't seem to be any way to adjust or even see what file format or quality the photos are being taken in either..Version: 2.0.6

Not a fanFor one, the app makes you buy almost all of the effects worth using, but on top of that, when shopping and browsing through the sets of filters or overlays, the example pictures for each individual effect within each set are completely different, so it’s impossible to actually know exactly what the filter/effect IS, because you don’t know what is the original picture and what is the effect that you’re looking at (suggestion; they should use the same photo within each set so we can see the difference). They also don’t really let you have much creative freedom within the effects. You can move them sometimes, but it would be nice to get to change the color of many... like it only will let you have an orange light flare when it should be really easy to let you change the color. Also accidentally bought a $10 set of filters and immediately tried to undo it, with no luck..Version: 2.0.6

FrustratingI’m trying to edit but every other button is a trap that leads to a pop up or external link.Version: 3.1.4

Weird lines over my photoI adore A Color Story. The tools are v handy, the filter packs are beautiful and super cheap. I just have two bugbears with it: one is that you can only reduce the highlights and shadows, you can’t make them brighter or darker respectively. And second, whenever I apply a filter, my photos end up with these weird vertical lines all over the top. Its especially visible in any bright parts of the photo and it really reduces the quality of the image. Hopefully it’s something that will be fixed in future updates!.Version: 2.2

Great tools, but slow and force quitsI’ve had this app for years and I genuinely love the editing tools and the fact that you can save your own presets and batch edit … but geeeee, this app jus is extremely slow, freezes and force quits. And i swear it’s getting worse (and I have up to date hardware). Please fix!!!!.Version: 4.9.2

TerribleI have tried to stop this so many times !!! The way they say to do it my phone can’t be done !! Other people have even tried!!!you can’t respond to the emails they send !! I’ve never used it and wanted a refunds ASAP I realised I was being charged !! It’s been a year now and second payment they have told me is now due !! I just want it stopped !! I’m on social and didn’t even know was being charged for this app!! I wouldn’t pay this much for it !!!ive even had to put one star it I couldn’t post this !! I wanted to give no stars !! Can someone please stop this and give me my refund !!.Version: 4.7.1

Updates have ruined this app for meI am disappointed because I really used to love this app, but with every update, some of the features I used the most get removed from being free features and added to the paid version. I am not opposed to paying for apps. I have spent quite a bit of money on this app purchasing filters before they moved to the subscription model. But when you take BASIC features like the “frame” feature and force a user to purchase a subscription to use it, I feel like this is just greed on the part of the company. I support paying for apps to fund the vast amount of work that goes into them, but I do NOT support taking free features that users are accustomed to using and forcing them into purchasing a subscription to continue to use them. There are plenty of photo editing apps out there and I guess I’ll just switch to one of those..Version: 4.0.3

Loved app- became buggyTakes a lot for me to write a negative review. I’ve had this app for about a year now. It previously worked smoothly, but last few months have been beyond buggy. Closing out of the app, not importing multiple pictures into album, app not opening at all (after multiple times of closing out and reopening) and more. The filters are nice, features of creating and removing your own is great. However, after multiple times of being let down by the app the past few months. I don’t look forward to using (even if I paid for full year, had the app for a few months before purchasing full year) due to time being wasted after editing photos in bulk and then just being kicked out. Wish I could recommend and I hate writing anything but positive reviews..Version: 4.8.8

NiceI love this app however the multitude of packs are very pricey and there’s no discount if you’re a loyal user. I’ve bought a lot of the packs at £2.99 and they are always adding news ones at the same price. I would also love the feature (like in Totally Rad) where if you hold your finger down on the picture you can see the photo with the previous edits and the latest one. Currently you can only see the original photo or with all the edits applied. Hope that made sense?!.Version: 2.0

Full featured image editor, but...While the app has just about every editing feature a photographer could want, the fatal flaw is the output resolution. I edit 15-24mp DSLR images on my iPadPro, and this app down samples the photos and saves the edited images at 5-6mp. A real disappointment. The other deal-killer for me is the price. While you can buy all the filters separately for $1-2 a pop, the subscription price of $25 per year, IMHO is just too much. And frankly, the differences between the presets is often so subtle, and easily reproduced with the editing tools. I don’t need that many presets. If the resolution issue was fixed, I.e., the app saved at the original image resolution, I would probably spend $20 buying a select set of filters, but not invest in the annual subscription. I use too many other apps to spend that much money on a single app. Frankly, I think the subscription model has ruined the App-Store..Version: 3.2

Pretty good. You gotta pay for a lot of the features on this app. It’s annoying however it hasn’t hindered me from not using it, and I do plan on buying more filters eventually. They give you such small options though. Besides that being a negative, I like how simple it is. It serves its purpose!.Version: 3.2

Used to be my favourite appThis used to be my favourite & most used app, but after the most recent update it is no longer very good. Previously you could use the “Brighten” tool to lighten or darken various spots in an image, but now you can only brighten/darken a single spot and if you try to brighten/darken subsequent spots they no longer save. So this function is now useless. Also moving the adjustment bar right to the bottom of the screen is inconvenient and awkward to use now, it’s previous position was MUCH better. Also the adjustments on all of the tools are now WAY too sensitive, and need to be much more gradual. I used to happily recommend this app to everyone who asked how I edited my photos, but sadly I can’t now. I now need to find a new editing app as this one is now unusable. Fingers crossed the developers consider reverting it back to its former glory..Version: 4.0.1

PayingYou have to pay for all the filters and it’s annoying but some are free so it’s okay.Version: 4.3.3

Love it, but...I love this app. It’s my go to for editing, but there’s been so many updates that still haven’t fixed the problems I’ve faced with it. The app itself and the photos load incredibly slow and now with the new update it unexpectedly quits the whole app. It’s a great app but just very slow. Hoping there is a fix that can happen..Version: 2.0.1

Latest update ruined appI have been a long time user of A Color Story. At least 5+ years. One of my favorite features used to be that you could layer their filters along with your own edits and then save the resulting edits as your own unique filters and simply apply the exact same filter to future photos. I had years and years worth of filters saved, custom designed for my own branding and style. I also have bought several of their filter packs over the years. After updating the app last night, the custom and recent filters feature is simply gone. All those years of saved filters have disappeared overnight. I’m now starting from scratch in attempting to match new edits to my previous aesthetic. Additionally, they have now taken away every single filter pack that previously came with the original app purchase and you now have to repurchase them all separately. The only filters I now have access to are the filter packs I already purchased separately. All of the filters previously included with the purchase of the app are no longer accessible. I understand wanting to monetize more filters for new users, but to take away basic functions of the app that long time users have long enjoyed that were included with their original purchase is beyond irritating. To overnight eliminate years’ worth of a long time user’s saved filters without warning is unacceptable. Unfortunately moving on from color story as most of its most useful functionality no longer exists. :/.Version: 4.6.1

Changed review due to sudden bugThere seems to be a bug that causes pictures not to be saved properly at the end of the editing process. I’ve never had this issue before now and it’s not consistent but now I have to double check my pictures every time and go back to re-save if the edit hasn’t taken. I find that the contrast and brightness adjustments stick but whatever colour correction I’ve done fades away as I view the photo in my photo library, even if the thumbnail preview looks correct. It also causes my iPhone’s brightness to flicker a bit as the colour correction fades. It’s truly odd! Any updates/bug fixes on what this could be are welcome..Version: 4.5.3

Quick and easy editing! If you haven’t got the patience for Lightroom then this is a quick and easy app for some pretty decent editing. There are a lot filters to choose from if you’re after a certain style of editing. Note: the filters don’t instantly always make your pics look amazing, depending on the picture (lighting, clarity etc) you will still need to adjust the pic after applying the filter..Version: 3.3.3

HmmWell I really like it just one thing that bothers me is that you have to buy all the other things and only get 1 free thing on each option.Version: 3.0.2

2 biggish user issues, otherwise ⭐️ awesome ⭐️The only editing app I use, and love using, but considered rating lower due to two issues I experience using the app. As issue 1. (below) renders app useless, it would’ve been 2 stars, but for saving grace of app being otherwise awesome when said issue doesn’t occur. Issue 1. Very very often when I load an image to edit the tool/nav bar at the bottom with filters/effects/tools doesn’t load at all or best case, takes several mins to appear. Have been using the app for years now and this feature has always been glitchy - have hoping for a fix with every update, but sadly continues to be a frequent problem. At the end of the day it can be a premium app but no point having and paying for it if you can’t access the tools! Issue 2. If you purchase ACS+ you should not only have access to packs to date, but all future pack releases - if already the case there are issues accessing new packs for some ACS+ subscribers. Lastly a suggestion; it would be incredible to be able to isolate areas of a photo when applying filters, rather than only a feature of the manual adjustment tools. Also find this isolation tool quite difficult to use. Would also love to see features like layering, collages and double exposures etc in future updates - would make it a legit one stop editing shop! Thanks for your amazing work guys & girls, hope this feedback is helpful to perpetuating the awesomeness ⭐️.Version: 3.1.1

OkI think you should make it so you don’t have to but extra stuff because young people might want to get it but can’t afford it..Version: 4.3.2

They removed purchases without informing youThis app is great, if you can afford to spend on the filters, the color+ work and the layers. I’ve been using it for months and have purchased almost everything on this app, including color+ so imagine my surprise when A color Story removes my rights to use that part of the app and refuses to answer comments or messages regarding this..Version: 3.1

$$$$$Everything costs money. You get 4 basic instagram filters and the rest are $11.99 for a set of 4 filters. Don’t bother. You’re better off tweaking with your built in iPhone editing tool..Version: 4.1.1

Subscription model, yet againWill only purchase something outright or one that has ads if that needs to be the way to make money. Subscriptions need to go, they are killing the market, maybe they assume no one buys other apps or something. Also the app history is full of ‘bug fixes and optimisations’, it must be a badly written app to keep needing so many updates yet fail to fix it..Version: 4.8.6

Was niceIt was a nice app till it got updated and the filters I bought no longer exists on it now as soon as you press filters nothing comes up all that comes up is previous edits but for how much I spent on the filter I should be able to use them but not anymore I’m stuck with two filters I’ve previously used in the past I’ve lost my money’s worth in the great filters I bought even if I didn’t buy them you still can’t choose any filters anymore it comes up bloody blank 😡😡.Version: 2.2.2

Update is Meh.I loved this app until the most recent update. It was always my go to and now I’m a bit disappointed. I think the update isn't as user friendly. Not really a fan of the the new visual icon set up for the filters and effects. The color text box really interferes with seeing the filter effect icon preview. Not a huge issue, but something i noticed immediately. Locating “saved” and “recent” edits takes a bit of getting use to, but what has really shattered my heart is actually using the Saved/Recent edits. Before the update i could easily scroll through my saved edits at the bottom the bottom of my image, click any one I’d like and see a preview of how my image would look. I could keep previewing other saved edits before i decided which one id like to use. Now i actually have to click “use” from the pop up without actually previewing my image with that saved edit. And after i click the use button and realize i don’t actually like that edit with my photo, i then have to go through and undo every single filter layered in the saved edit. I have to start the process all over again hoping the next saved edit i choose will work for my image. If not, the undo process begins again. This is really disappointing and makes the saved edit feature almost useless..Version: 4.0.1

Not goodThis app used to be good, now it never remembers my purchases which makes it annoying & pointless. I also hate that you can’t resize images the normal way, only to be a certain dimension such as “Instagram” such a strange feature to take away from a photo editing app. I won’t be using again which is frustrating as I bought so many of the filters..Version: 4.8.1

Best app but changed grain feature (for the worse)Love this app more than ANY editing app, it’s super easy to use and plan my Instagram grid on. However, recent changes to the grain feature have made it really difficult to use; option now seems to be FULL grain (on portraits it almost looks like freckles/acne) or dynamic, which only adds grain to the shadow. There should still really be a way to just add a layer of grain without “dynamic grain”, not everyone wants that, and it can really change the whole vibe of the photo..Version: 3.3

Not worth itThere is 5 free (terrible) filters, everything else costs about $11.99 to purchase and then you can’t preview the filters to see what they would look like on your own photos before buying so this is a waste of your time. Stay away!.Version: 2.0

Recent update makes me no longer want to useWent to edit a photo using ACS like I normally do & tried to add a frame around my picture like I have been for awhile to keep my Instagram feed looking uniform & when I tried to add a plain white frame that is now only available if you purchase ACS+ for $2.99. I wasn’t trying to customize the size or change the color, I was just trying to add a plain white frame, which up until now was FREE. I get trying to make money, but why randomly start charging for something that you previously had for free? You already charge for extra filter packs etc. Why not charge the extra amount if you want to customize the frame? I’m annoyed & will probably switch to an app that I can do my frame/editing all in one. Sad to say that because I do love the filters I currently have. But I don’t want to go back & forth between apps just for a picture..Version: 3.3.6

*sigh*I was unhappy with this app, seeing as I was told by suggestions of ratings that this app was fantastic, earning a grand total of 8.4 star rating averaged. I was completely unaware that when I opened the app, you had to pay for anything unique, and things i had never seen before. Granted, most items are cheep, considering the use you make out of them, but you can easily turn a dollar into 20 when using this app. For the most part though, everything was fine until I found out I had to pay to edit my photos, after I had taken my time to shoot the photo, download this app with high hopes, and be very dissatisfied with the success I received. ( which was none ) o would not recommend this app to you if you are looking to not spend any money, and just look for something free. However, if you are willing to agree with the terms, you should be fine..Version: 3.1.2
