Norton Ad Blocker for Negative User Reviews
✓ So soWhile this does block many ads, there are two things which is is utterly horrible with: blocking ads that mute the music on my phone; and, it’s “exceptions” list. With the former, probably 2/3 of The websites that I stumble upon have an ad that pauses/mutes my music, whether or not its audio then starts to play. With the latter, I have lost count of the number of websites with a prompt that asks me to add their website to my adblocker app. Upon doing so, no amount of refreshed ever makes those websites load properly. The bottom line, i think, is that there isn’t much competition in regards to effective as blockers, thus giving Norton essentially zero incentive to make their product better..Version: 1.1.2
✓ Ok but page loading issue.App works but has issue that they have their own advertisement packs with many companies that’s fine but look at their search provider. It’s more like one need Adblock for their own Norton home enabled on any browser. Second on safari iOS whenever I have enabled this app, when I start typing and hit enter the first response I get is after hitting enter blank weird page saying no results found. That possibly because norton is just coming it way and safari can’t load the search results. Norton must fix it. Also my phone battery was draining very fast after installing it..Version: 1.1.2
✓ Does not block ads anymoreI have been using Norton ad blocker for a long time now. At least 3 years I believe. At first it was great. Most ads were blocked. No ads forcing safari to redirect to another website trying to add software to your phone. Well about a year ago ads started creeping in. And in the past few months the app blocks zero ads. The strange issue is that websites ads show, pop up, redirect and everything else while you still see website say your using an adblocker. Sadly Norton has become a complete joke with this app and I doubt Norton will do anything to fix it. Very sad since I use Norton for virus protection and love it..Version: 1.3
✓ Norton ad blockerI am not as concerned about having this in Safari as I am in Chrome for my iPad. Specially when it comes to everything facebook. I particularly want everything having to do with them and all other social media eliminated from my device immediately. This product only recognizes that I have Safari but doesn’t detect or install into Chrome. Chrome is plagued with all sorts of tracking and the past two months has been frequently lagging and failing to load when I use it. While I realize that site data needs to be retained, the majority of the cookies and trackers should be immediately removed and yet are not by Google Chrome which doesn’t seem to keep our privacy, private..Version: 1.4
✓ Does not block intrusive pop upsI almost never rate apps and especially provide a poor rating. I was visiting a medical web site and trying to read an article on how to treat a patient and a pop up would occur that blocked the article unless I provided all kinds of personal information like name address email etc. Even after doing this more pop ups would appear and block the article. I downloaded this app, activated it and it made no difference, the article would continue to appear for a few seconds and then covered by the pop ups. This app may not have been designed for what I wished it to do to be fair..Version: 1.1.2
✓ Disappointed. I thought it was working, and thenDisappointed. I thought it was working because I was testing it on an ad block tester website. I did the simple test; it passed. I did the advanced test; it seemed to pass. But then I did the extreme test and it failed miserably. The extreme test shows the types of ads that I seem to get the most often. As directed by the extension, I did close Safari and re-open Safari after I installed this extension. That did not help. I did that before testing the extension. I have tried this extension in the past. I thought maybe they had improved it. But they haven’t. It may be good for ads that are not too bothersome. But for the really bad ads, it won’t work..Version: 1.4
