Norton Password Manager for Negative User Reviews

Locked in with subscriptions! If you use this app, you’re locked into this app. You can’t go without it but, keychain and other ways haven’t been able to stand time and the Apple wireless direct system is also a problem despite its double encrypted. I like using the notes and not the auto log ins as Apple makes it more difficult not to use their keychain. Until we have a better system, this is the best. I rely on this more than keychain now. I wish the fingerprinting and tracking was on all devices as well as storage in the cloud. iCloud forces you into buying expensive memory despite the lower costs in local and cloud storage has gone down in cost. I’m still trying to figure out how all these PWs from Norton shares its own data across multiple devices..Version: 8.2.1

Flee from this company like your life depends on it!I use this app for about five years and then about a week ago it forced me to sign in with my password and not Face ID. Since I was in a hurry and needed to get a password, I thought it would be quicker to just use the Apple login option on that screen. When it told me that this would link my Norton account to my Apple account I was not happy, but decided it was still better to get into Norton now and change the settings later. The first thing it made me do, after signing in with Apple, was to create a new password. After doing that, it logged me in to my Norton only to find out that the 300+ entries that I had stored in there for my personal and business, we’re all gone. I called Norton tech-support and three representatives, including a supervisor told me that there is no way for me to recover my old account and that anytime you change your password it will delete all information. I wouldn’t be so upset if they had warned me of this prior to using Apple or prior to forcing me to change my password. I will do everything in my power to let anyone interested in a Norton product, that they should run the other direction! This is a massive inconvenience for me as many of these accounts will never be retrievable along with info on multiple different physical safes that I own..Version: 8.2.1

Update version doesn’t work and customer service is nonexistant from NortonFinally fixed it almost a week after they were informed there was a problem that tech support didn’t acknowledge. Don’t they use their own app? I’ve used this successfully for several years. The new “improved” version wallet does not work on an ipad or iphone. It crashes. I’ve made that comment several times, when asked to rate it within the app, but it still doesn’t work. As an update, he couldn’t resolve the problem and told me to contact Norton help for them to access my devices to solve the problem. I called the helpline and got a woman who didn’t have a clue and wanted me to do exactly the same things I had already done three time before. Did she really think the result would be any different? Finally she made an appointment for a level 2 tech to contact me by phone. The call was supposed to be yesterday at 11 am. I’m still waiting for the call. The call came 4 days and two hours after the scheduled time. I wasn’t in a place to take the call. I just got in and saw an update was available. It works! Finally!.Version: 8.0.1

Error after downloadingWhen I try to login after downloading it says error unable to connect to server. Tried multiple times and it is on iPad iOS 14.Version: 7.1.220

Waste of timeHaving used this for some time I am now sick to death of it. It requests you sign into your account and the redirects you to another Norton site which asks you to sign in and then after you get the I’m not a robot and this is so poor in picture you cannot see if it’s correct. Then it through’s you out. It’s the same on my PC. So log I am moving away from Norton once my subscription expires..Version: 8.4.0

Very frustrating!!!I used to like this app and was very skeptical of some of the bad reviews, however recent experiences have completely changed my mind. It’s gradually becoming clunkier and less efficient every year. There now seems to be a bug whereby the app is constantly asking me to verify my login info but isn’t sending sms messages. I’ve noticed that it’s because the app’s notification setting is completely missing. However, when i use my second verification method the screen just goes blank. I’ve spent ages trying to find a solution and not getting anywhere. The online help from Norton is also quite abysmal to say the least..Version: 8.1.1

Lost it’s way and crown!3 years ago it was quite a good product and good value. Password app not using security options of finger print or facial recognition is a pain when you use a decent secure password ( why wouldn’t you if it has all your passwords?) and want a password fast! Whoever came up with not using bio recognition is a Luddite (Wiki that!) Don’t get me started on auto renewal rip off! Disgusting trick paying more for fourth year than for total of first three. I’ll never do that again. Also it’s has gradually lost its place in the market and feels clunky to use, now become an expensive Dinosaur. Sad to see it fall!.Version: 7.1.250

Useless as a multi device appI have used Norton for decades but this year it is rubbish, will not stay in sync with other devices, will not save new passwords on laptop. I just battle with it all the time now and has become as annoying as Lastpasd became. Time to move on to a better app and hope the antivirus part doesn’t go down the nick with this. I have spent ages with the developer and spent loads of time removing, reinstalling on all devices but still it’s total rubbish. It also doesn’t open half the time from the push notification and keeps asking for 2 factor on the same trusted devices. I have moved to stickypassword you can open it on your laptop with just your fingerprint without all the mess on.Version: 8.6.4

Good app, but not what they promised originallyI like the concept of a PW manager app, and I liked it even more when Norton made it available offline so long as you had the vault password. Then for some reason, which I am not aware of, they decided to change it to a web based app. Not to sound paranoid, but it makes you wonder why they decided to go that route instead of storing your passwords locally on your own machine, then giving you an option to sync to a cloud or other service only available with a subscription. Then even if you went with another program for protection, you could still have your passwords, they just wouldn’t sync unless you paid for Norton. Sounds logical to me, but I guess they need to focus on enormous pop ups telling me my computer has too many “junk files”. I’m starting to get some Hegelian dialectic vibes. Well the devil you know is better than the one you don’t I guess..Version: 8.5.0

Bad browser and external integrationInitially Can’t even get past the login. Keeps going back to the agreement. It is really annoying to upgrade and have to enter passwords. Can’t the app read the previous versions settings? Browser is slow. Doesn’t integrate with external apps. Very slow to unlock sites. Tend to use only as a secure notepad. The PC chrome Mozilla and ie plugin is terrible. Best bit is password generator..Version: 6.0.286

FrustratingI would love to give a better score as most things are great but ........ I have norton on all my gadgets. On my phone the norton password manager, that I use for all my passwords keeps asking for a password when I need it most . I have it set up for finger print access so it should be easy . But no when it’s really needed it won’t allow access without a password . I then have to go find the password to get into it the app . Come on norton ! What’s the point of fingerprint recognition then ..Version: 6.7.350

Like the vaultI really like the vault and the security it provides. Specifically I love the fact that it requires a two step process to access through my phone My only complaint and it’s a big one so that’s why I only give 3 stars. The vault is very difficult to use when setting up or generating new passwords through it. So as a result I find I have to still create my own passwords and write them down before the vault will even accept them and ask to remember them. It makes it extremely difficult and frustrating to use the vault to actually generate new passwords or allow me to edit and cleanup older passwords that are less secure Hopefully someone will actually read this and either provide more assistance or a more straightforward step by step tutorial for setting up new passwords through the vault Excelbiss.Version: 8.0.1

Norton Password VaultGreat product however when it says it has “synced and is up to date”, it isn’t! New passwords that have been created, whether for existing or new websites, and regardless of whether the App is open or not DO NOT update at all. So whilst I love the App, having to manually update passwords when that is the purpose of the program, combined with using Face ID to protect my passwords almost makes it redundant!.Version: 7.4.2

Poor ITPoor IT Very intrusive Can’t do anything on desktop without annoying pop ups saying mobile approval needed. Should be good enough to remember! Can’t import passwords etc. Fairly poor to be honest. I expected better. Even worse is that after getting a new phone same type and same number Norton have stopped sending authority requests to my phone despite the desktop asking to resend on numerous occasions. And this is despite me asking Norton for help to resolve the problem. My requests for help are totally ignored. Don’t waste your money on this app as the service is appallingly bad. Possibly the worst I’ve ever experienced. Update! Recently got new phone identical to previous one. PCDesktop now never sends message to phone to authorise internet search. Reported to support. IGNORED, This app really is crap and just gets worse. If I could award zero stars I would do so. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND EFFORTS WITH THIS APP. Not only that the support people ignore EVERY message I send to ask for help. Why would anyone accept such crap service and such an appallingly bad app? To support people you might redeem yourselves if you bother to get in touch with me. There is surely an app out there that does a proper job, probably one powered with an elastic band would do better!.Version: 8.2.1

It’s OkIn the main it's ok, I've not had the issue of some of the reviewers of it deleting all my passwords.....yet. On the phone app the passwords are too small and there's no way to zoom in or make them larger. Sometimes it seems to forget my fingerprint and my four digit passcode which is annoying. Auto logins are good when they work. I tried today to change the user name but it kept saying the email address I had used was already being used in the Login name which it wasn't. I had to delete the Login and recreate it, so frustrating. If I could get my Keepass to work on my iPhone I'd go back to using that..Version: 6.0.286

It’s usually helpfulNorton password manager is usually helpful so that I don’t have to remember or look up passwords for websites every time I try to sign in. I would like it to be easier to look up passwords manually and update them manually when I need to sometimes Norton doesn’t always kick in and give me the password for the website when I’m trying to sign in. Then I have to go look it up in a password file that another company built. Sometimes Norton get stuck on giving me an old password or one that goodness only knows where it came from. Also, recently, it’s been giving me an update box over on the right hand side of the screen a lot of times when I’m signing in on the website and then update box has an old password in it and I can’t update it. That needs fixed..Version: 8.5.0

Not as good as it wasThis app used to be excellent but since the format change it isn’t as good on my iPad. It now looks amateurish with the Courier font and the reminder to Mac and PC users should be deletable if not applicable to the user, it is irritating to have it constantly there. The safe icon has disappeared so it is now impossible to toggle from the list to the website. Clicking on the link now takes me to the browser not the selected webpage, sometimes the link goes to the previous webpage! Get it sorted guys!.Version: 8.0.1

Useless & AnnoyingOne thing making this app completely useless for me - the 'Optional Login Note Field' per individual login entry is not synced between ALL platforms. Fundamental problem in my opinion ! Also, I do not want to use the AutoFill feature - why, after dismissing the message about enabling it, does the app continue to remind me to enable it every time I restart? There should at least be an option in settings to stop the repeated message. Very annoying (not that it really matters I suppose as unfortunately I can’t use the app for the reason discussed previously)!.Version: 7.1.325

Nothing but problemsPassword for everything… Norton Account, Lifelock, Valut, Pin, list is endless. So I activated biometric data configuration to make logging in a smoother process, next thing I know I have been signed out of everything. Managed to sign into all but Vault which should’ve requested faceID but didn’t so now I am left locked out of my own vault with no way to reset my password! Contacted support, had to escalate it to their senior team and I’m now having to book a phone call… how inconvenient for a security system that’s supposed to be convenient and user friendly! Not all of us have all the time in the day to have a phone call to sort these things out… A simple “reset password” button should be available for vault, especially when I’m signed into my Norton account!.Version: 7.5.2

How to use it?Hi had someone install but need a procedure to follow now to initiate when I get a new app that I want to password. Is there a script I can follow to go about and if I need to change master password ?. Can’t find how to follow instructions on download or your disc I am but an oldie but if I can follow I procedure to work it right I would be happier. NZ customer?? Robin.Version: 7.5.0

Bacuss2You guys/ gals listen to this!..... two months ago I bought Norton’s 360 DELUXE! A After many attempts with Norton’s so called professional helpers ( 6 times!).... i still Haven’t got a VPN as standard with Norton’s 360 deluxe. Then I get told ( oh we’re so sorry mr ****** But it seems when you register your product with us it seems that one of our employees set you up with the wrong protection?? ) I still have no help after it was no fault of mine! I read a good few reviews on here and time after time I am reading that THEY DON’T GIVE A DAM!...after they ( Norton) have their money out of us, THEY SIMPLY DO NOT CARE!!! I’M NAMING AND SHAMING THEM IN EVERY WAY, SHAPE AND FORM! I swear there so-called “HELP” is atrocious at best! And very ignorant in the extreme! I ain't EVER BUYING THERE PRODUCTS AGAIN! If my MacBook Pro ever gets hacked etc I’m going to take legal action in the small claims court! But DO NOT BYE FROM NORTON, THATS THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT! PASSWORD MANAGER, I too keep having this opening up, it’s like Norton’s products are as bad as their so-called professional help/support because I’m STILL HAVING THE PROBLEMS IVE HAD SINCE I BOUGHT THEIR PRODUCT! Don’t Use This AppI used this app for two years. ALL of my passwords were stored in it. Then one day the face recognition didn’t work (it still worked on every other application so it was just this app that stopped working). And, the password also wasn’t working so it gave you directions on who to contact to reset your password. I talked to several people the first day and they told me there is no way to reset my password. I called back two days later and the agent promised to escalate this for me and someone would be back with me within 48 hours. That was over two weeks ago. This is now causing me many hours of frustration to change all my passwords. I thought this was a trustworthy company with good products, but since they can’t reset a password, it makes me wonder if any of their other products are protecting me. I will be changing to another service and also advising others not to use these products..Version: 7.5.1

Questionable ProtectionNot sure that I can trust Norton 360. I have been getting Open Vault requests, on my phone, at times when I have not attempted to open my vault, from my PC. When I contacted Customer Service via chat, I got a person, with a foreign accent (sounded like someone in India - I should know because I had a career in IT software development and have worked with many amiable developers from India). Unfortunately, level one support did not seem to understand the issue and I was bumped to a higher level of support, who also could not help me. Third level, same result. Wanted me to open my vault. I received two more requests, to open my vault, today, though I didn’t initiate the vault opening. I’m concerned that some nefarious party has obtained my phone number and, if I opened my vault, as requested, would have access to my passwords. Contacted a higher level of customer support, today, by phone. Was escalated twice. Still, no one has a clue as to what to do. They wanted me to open my vault, as requested, though I didn’t initiate the vault request from my computer. Clueless as to what to advise. They want me to talk to her another level of customer support, who is going to call me about this issue . . . ..Version: 7.1.325

Ridiculous!Spent all night adding my passwords to the free app. Not very often you see a free app for passwords. I was impressed by this so I did some reading and wanted to give their LifeLock a try. This is where the problems began. They asked for my password. Says my password is wrong. Ok? So wth I change it. I enabled a passcode. Several times. Which was disabled several times! Every time I added my password it says it’s the wrong password! Ok! I change it again!! Seriously folks this is an app to remember your passwords. I may be blonde but I’m not this stupid!! So I call customer service. He treated me like I was stupid but ok no problem. I wait the dumb hour even though I explain to him that I’m not locked out of the password manager that I know my password I’m just trying to pay for LifeLock and it’s asking me for a password. I’m also trying to add it to my iPad also asking for a password which keeps coming up wrong. Like I said I wait the hour as I was told like a good simpleton. I follow the directions. Pretty simple. Click the link. Password reset. It doesn’t work. I’m currently locked out of the iPad app?? Plus the LifeLock app. However can still get on the password manager! Can’t make changes? Can’t pay for their services. At this point many hours spent but do I want to spend a dime on their service’s?? Hmmmm I might be rethinking this one!!.Version: 7.1.325

Just Stopped WorkingI’ve had Norton for 6 years and have accumulated over 200 logins. When I got my new phone last week, the Vault started acting weird. It wouldn’t populate a login on a page so I would have to manually go into the Vault and copy/paste the login where I wanted it to be. I thought I just needed to redownload the app, so I deleted the app and redownloaded it. Now the Vault won’t let me login with my password, and I know I haven’t changed it in the last week. When I called about getting help, the manager I spoke to, Cusjal(?), basically told me it was my fault because I deleted the app and didn’t know my password, even though I had not changed it, also, there was nothing he could do. That I would have to delete the Vault and create a new one. I literally had everything in that vault, it will take me months to get half of what I had. I don’t plan on renewing my subscriptions, honestly I want to cancel it right now but I need to find something and do research before I do. I will never use Norton again..Version: 6.7.350

App is good but not transferable.Ever since Norton merged with LifeLock they have been, obviously, obsessed with monopolizing the security segment. They will save all of your passwords but if you get a new computer or change your account, you cannot transfer your password manager to a new account. Norton also bombards you with “doomsday” pop ups and emails about how you need to upgrade to a more expensive plan to get “all the protect you NEED.” I have a Norton account and 2 LifeLock accounts and Norton has yet to put “2 + 2” together and consolidate my accounts. Soon, I’m just going to move on from both. I have been using Norton (and formerly Symantec) products for more than a decade and previously would have recommended them to everyone but, I don’t do business with companies that try to make monopolies. Keep looking, you will find a company that makes a good product with out the huge price and monopoly..Version: 8.2.1

MehI’ve been using Norton Password Manager for about a month now, after a friend in IT security explained how important it is to protect passwords. I have NAV, so I didn’t want to spend $ on another app and Norton Password Manager is a free add on. So far I’m not impressed. It functions as a basic password manager but it doesn’t have the extra features that would make internet life easier. It doesn’t have web form fill in functionality, I can’t share passwords with my wife, and the cc wallet didn’t automatically populate when I use my cc. Password manager does identify weak and duplicate passwords but the updater is a beta version and didn’t work for me. More importantly, it doesn’t scan for breached accounts (a fee based add in for NAV). I guess that’s why it’s free. The basic functions work so I’ll continue to use it..Version: 8.6.4

My Budget MinderA LOT of times since the turn of the year, when I enter my PIN to retrieve a password or user ID, it rejects my entries — several times before giving me an hour time out. Curiously, this seems to take place whenever customer service advises that representatives have a high volume of service requests. I mean, really! A few hours later — today it was five hours, yesterday it was three hours — and wouldn’t you know, the system recognises my credentials again. Badly impressive, because whenever this happens I cannot get into any of Norton applications, not just the password manager. So, please, Norton, expand your systems’ capacity to process log-in attempts, even during the high-volume hours. Presently, I wonder whether any of the Norton products are doing me any good, or whether they inadvertently seep out my personal information at the very moments I cannot get into my own account or use my password vault to my advantage. I do not like to give a below-par review, so I will add one star to my rating. That is, on a positive note, the password manger should be restyled as a budget minder. The password manager feature seems to do a great job of curbing my spending when I undergo the frustration of rejected PINs and passwords the system should know. Okay, so it protects me from me, which was not my intention in signing up for this..Version: 7.2.0

Read the review...There are so many occasions when the vault can not be used for some unknown reason I now have a back up copy of my passwords, which sort of defeats the purpose of a password manager. It often takes so long between opening my browser and getting a message from the app to approve unlock, sometimes it’s been 10 mins! That I now just always type in my vault password instead. I’m too often asked to fully log in to the app on my iPad rather than just enter my PIN and then have to wait so very long for the app to respond (3+mins) I assume that it’s given up. It’s failed me so many times one way or other that I’m trialing other password managers..Version: 8.4.2

All my passwords were randomly deleted!!/ terrible customer serviceI have been using this app for years. I tried to login on a new device and was prompted to make a a new vault password. After doing so all 100+ passwords I had saved were deleted instantly. Thinking it was some sort of glitch I closed out of the app and when I re opened it all of them were still gone. I immediately reached out to customer service and ended up chatting with a couple different people over the span of about 4 hours only for them to tell me that there is no way of recovering my passwords. Even talking to someone higher up on the phone, they were not helpful and blamed me for not remembering my vault password which I was never originally prompted to make. I have transferred this account to 3 different devices now and this was the first time I was ever asked about a vault password. I’m shocked that something like this can happen and that there is no way of recovering my information. Luckily I had most of my passwords written down somewhere else. I just want to put this review out there for anyone looking for a place to store their information. Be careful because on this app apparently everything can disappear with no chance of being recovered..Version: 8.4.2

Great but weighs down my web search and struggling to find web search vs adsI think the app and service is great but a few comments. It does what it should on security management very well. However the search functionality is overweight in that it opens a browser of the safe search and then new tabs. I have no problem with additional tabs but then the main page is a pain in that it vertically shows loads of sponsored pages until standard web pages. This may be a Google issue but the way Norton displays this is not user friendly. This is probably able to be amended in settings somewhere but I can’t find it. It would be great on new setup (alpha/beta view) or easily identifiable on settings.Version: 8.6.0

MrStruggled to get my iphone to approve the unlock feature. Not sure what I did but seems to be good now. Difficult to get help from Norton. In fact I couldn’t. Lots of blogs but no direct contact with information..Version: 7.5.0

The Mobile Unlock feature is a Fail! This was a very handy app in the beginning. Then they turned on mobile integration as a form of two-factor authentication. When I open Password Manager on my desktop a notification is sent to my phone to approve opening Password Manager on my Desktop. I approve and I get an error message on my iPhone. Obviously, I have a good network connection because I can sync my vault with no problem. After two rounds with the “help desk” and after deleting the app three times, restarting my phone three times, reinstalling the app three times, and setting the app up again on my iPhone three time, then getting. The same error every time, I am done. I’ll keep the app, but the two-factor authentication between the desktop using the mobile app is worthless. I am actually checking other products because this experience totally bites..Version: 6.7.350

Significant work arounds to make it workIt has become very challenging to bring up a site using PM. Often it will populate the ID/PW combination when logging into a site, then the site will indicate it’s an invalid combination. So, I have to delete the ID/PW that PM populated and backup to the PM login screen for that site and copy each (one at a time) into the site’s login screen. At other times, PM does not even populate the ID/PW for a site’s login screen, again forcing me to copy both. Another issue I encounter continually is that PM indicates I am running an old version of iPad IOS or IOS, although my software is operating at the most current level. With significant contortion, I can get PM to work but I’m very concerned that my wife will never figure this out if necessary, as she does not work with PM on a regular basis. It really should not be so challenging to use that only a very patient and regular user can do so..Version: 7.5.0

Super annoyingI get it needs to authenticate me but holy hell every minute or so is a bit much.Version: 8.6.4

Be carefulWhen the app works it’s ok. If you do an update on your phone the biometric security automatically stops working meaning if you forget your master password to the vault you will be locked out and loose everything. There is no way around this and you can’t create another account with the same email. To reset the password to the vault you need to use biometric to security to get back in to the vault to reset the password. It’s a very silly loop that the developers of this product need to rectify immediately. None of my other Norton apps have this issue only this one, which is painful as it’s the one I rely on the most. Very disappointed in Norton..Version: 8.1.1

Pray You Never Forget Your PasswordThis App login setup is very weird. First you have to login with your Norton account password, then log into the vault with a different vault password. God help you if you get the two mixed up, or in my case, forget the vault password. There is absolutely no way to recover or reset it. The guide online is misleading, suggesting you can reset the vault password if you have biometrics login setup in the app. Problem is, the app randomly logs you out and deactivates biometrics login. Forcing you to log in ONLY with your password. After almost a year of login in with my Facial-ID I can’t remember my vaults password and after hours spent chatting with a rep I am told the only option is to delete the vault and create a new one, which will trash 60+ passwords saved in it. Why the heck would I want to do that. I delete my vault and I’m uninstalling Norton Password Manager because the single-fail-point engineering is unacceptable. Very disappointing Norton. You guys have really began to slip up on many fronts..Version: 7.5.0

5+ year userI do like the idea of the password volt however do find it a little difficult and still have not over five years got used to exactly how it operates. Quite often I find it pretty fillsMy login details incorrectly or I have more than two or three for the one site and I’m trying to work out how to fix all this. And how much do that’s probably just my own fault because I haven’t had the time to be able to research and easy way to find out exactly how to use this properly.Version: 8.1.1

Terrible app, terrible serviceWas working ok a couple of weeks ago, then I started getting g an error message that just said “Error while communicating with server”, so thought I would try deleting the app and reinstalling it. It wouldn’t remember me, so I contacted Norton and then the merry go round started, kept spouting off about restrictions and importance of security, well I know that, that’s why I use a security app! Then told me there was no account with that email, I tried three different emails, still nothing. I was told to create a new account, well how would that get my saved passwords back?! Finally got in using Apple ID and selecting the One Time Password and got in, but still getting the error message. Don’t bother, just don’t bother. BT I’m so annoyed you changed from McAfee to this Circus. The annoying thing is, I was trying to get in to copy the passwords I had in it, save them to my Passwords vault on my iPhone, then bin the app, but I can’t even do that. UPDATE - had a reply from Norton, asking me to contact them via either Twitter or Facebook. I don’t have Twitter and I don’t have Facebook, any other suggestions?!.Version: 8.3.0

Poor usability and user experienceIf like most people today you use multiple devices passwords often get out of step between the apps on the various devices, including Norton password manager itself. If the auto password generate feature was used then you have no knowledge of the password. Norton security need to put a lot more thought into the interactions of the biometric features of devices today and auto password generation and the many devices people use. They are constantly getting out of step! Come on Norton it really is about time you caught with modern biometrics!.Version: 7.5.0

I thought internet security companies were meant to be smart?I’ve stuck with Norton for going on 4 years now. Through inertia basically. If you’re in the market though, it would be worth considering an alternative provider. The Norton website/ UX etc seems to have been designed by interns. It is so frustratingly counterintuitive and dysfunctional I’m determined to snap out of my own inertia and switch to a competent alternative next time my renewal comes around..Version: 8.6.3

Love(d) the appI used to love this app and the way it seamlessly integrated online, with my work PC, and my personal iDevices. Then, I started having problems, which were mostly resolved after three calls to support. However, I recently upgraded my work computer. I went to the Norton site to download The ID safe and install it only to find out that Norton is no longer supporting this product as a standalone package. Between that and my iDevice app closing on me every time I want to go to or search my notes, I now need to shop for an alternative solution. While I know and trust Norton, and although this product generally gets very good ratings (that have soured since Norton made this decision), I neither need nor want a bundled product. In fact, I cannot use a bundled product on my work computer, and it is superfluous on my phone and iPad. Sadly, since the product no longer receives support, and therefore kills my app when attempting to open my notes, I cannot give the app 5-stars, and I have already moved on to another product well-regarded by PC magazine..Version: 4.6.108

Constant server errors the past few monthsI have been a Norton customer for many years, I am a LifeLock and Norton 360 subscriber for the past few years. Have been using Norton Password manager for almost 3 years and have loved it and put many friends and family on it. Starting a few months ago, it has been constantly logging me out on my phone, and when I try to log back in, after password and Authenticator app confirmation, it will keep giving “Server communication error, please try again”. At that point, the only solution is to try later and use my Apple Key chain (thanks for that backup). Norton password app on iPhone becomes useless and can’t use it to unlock desktops either. This is not just my iPhone but is happening randomly on my wife’s iPhone as well. 2 different iPhone models, both iPhone 13’s, and have tried numerous times to uninstall and reinstall the app to no avail. I have loved this app and have become dependent on it and hesitant to change, but these months long repeated failures keep costing me time and Aggravation I can’t afford and concerns me about the security and reliability of my data on a security product. I am hoping this resolves itself soon or will be forced to switch to another product. Apple keychain built in to iPhones and macs is pretty good and saved me many times with Norton is failing, but I wanted my security info on a separate service that is cross platform compatible..Version: 7.5.2

It’s nice when it works2.5 stars really. When it’s working, it works well and does what it’s supposed to. This is my first password manager so nothing to really compare it to. But about 1/4 of the time I get the “something went wrong” message and either the mobile unlock just doesn’t work, or it won’t even let me sign into my password vault. This is what’s happening to me right now, after turning on my computer after it had been shut down overnight. I just can’t access any of my passwords. Update: sometimes the issue previously mentioned can be solved by restarting. But if you are using more than one chrome profile on your computer, usually one of them can’t open or use the password vault. Also, on my phone, the password vault is suddenly requiring me to enter my Norton 360 password to open the vault (which I stored in the password manager under the reasonable assumption that as long as I remembered my vault password that would be enough). So you need to remember multiple passwords to even be able to use the vault. And you never know how long it’s actually going to take to access your passwords—could be 30 seconds, could be 10 minutes, which makes things dicey if you have a meeting in the morning, for example..Version: 7.5.1

Could be BetterI recently moved to Norton Password manager from another provider. The transfer of passwords went well. However, since using the Norton Password manager I have noticed some shortcomings compared with the previous provider. The main on being is the password generator which is on a totally separate screen. Also when creating a new login there is not an option of generating a password there, one has to move to a different part of the app to get on. Not at all very efficient..Version: 7.5.0

Works but needs to load fasterI’ve had Norton for about 8 or 9 years. It has worked well except for one recent day when it just wouldn’t come up (the only time) and one major problem years ago (I let the tech person into my computer and he wiped out all my passwords and they couldn’t get them back; never again!). I have to say, I don’t understand why Norton isn’t straightforward about offering a full package including all virus prevention available. I thought I bought everything and then find out later they are offering a different anti-virus package, and not cheap. They charge plenty and that should include everything. I also don’t appreciate that passwords won’t automatically load unless I use Norton’s search engine. I am now duplicating passwords on the “keyword” app on my devices, which are mostly what I use. Lastly, Norton Password takes way too long to load when I’m trying to get a password. I sigh a lot when I go to put in my Norton passcode because I know I’ll have to look awhile at the picture of that poor guy who shows up each time at the wait screen. He must be very tired of showing up to wait with me! Norton, if you want to keep most of your customers, you need to upgrade a few things, and not at their cost..Version: 7.4.2

This is typical of the Norton I know and dislikeFirstly, I’d used Norton applications when I had my first PC. That was back in the late eighties/early nineties and Norton Utilities was very good. When I upgraded to the Windows 95 era Norton apps I was extremely disappointed and until today I have avoided anything Norton like the plague. My experience today proves me correct in doing so. I am looking for a password manager after LastPass (which I’ve used for a very long time) changed their Tees & Cees. There’s a few candidates I thought I’d look at and Norton was the first one I tried. I really wish I had stayed true to my mantra of Norton bad, everything else much better. I installed it from the App Store, that was fine, I tapped on the icon to start the app, again fine. I’m thinking this is looking good, perhaps things have changed. I then entered my email as requested and pressed next, I’m thinking I’ll be entering some passwords soon. Ten minutes later I came back to the same screen. The app was ‘dead’. With a little resignation I uninstalled the app and wondered what rubbish it’s left on my phone. Clearing up after it was on my computer was a tediously long and pointless exercise, will it be the same on my phone I wonder? So, back to square one, what’s going to replace LastPass for me? I’ll keep looking..Version: 7.2.0

So difficult and complicated to set upSo difficult and complicated to set up after a long time going through the process I am finally confronted with yet another password to enter so I can enter the vault but it kept telling me the password was incorrect. No option to rest the password so finally gave up afte at least an hour and deleted it. Other similar apps just as difficult so resorted to writing it all down on pieces of paper and locked them away securely..Version: 8.1.0

ErrorsOn the whole the Norton suite works well but the app on iPhone can be flaky. When you get a prompt on mobile to allow access to the vault and approve it 25% of times it produces an error which requires a shutdown of the app and a restart or resend from your pc browser . Also occasionally the alert doesn’t always arrive on mobile and sometimes you end up getting multiple alerts hour’s later. No issues with the Norton suite on pc, just the password manager on y.Version: 7.1.325

Password ManagerLost my password months ago and havnt been able to log in due to Norton not able to replace password . Was told to start with new app which would lose all my previous passwords.Version: 7.5.1

Terrible App, Terrible Support, Faulty Password ProcessYou need a password to login to the app, then a “vault password” to access your information. Also, you can activate the thumb print for access as well. This sounds GREAT... Except for the fact that after some time the app wouldn’t accept my vault password anymore, therefore I couldn’t get in at all. The vault password is apparently more secure than a thumb print... I contacted support, multiple times, which didn’t help because they “can’t” override the vault password either. Their response: you must have forgotten your vault password. Nope, I definitely did not. I wrote it down when I downloaded this app. Not to mention, why, WHY would support not have the capability to help someone reset their password?? Makes no sense. So guess what... ALL of my passwords are locked into this app, with absolutely NO way of me being able to access them..Version: 5.0.179

Forget your password? Lose your vault!I recommend Onesafe. Not this app. If you ever forget your password… which never happens, right??? There is no way to reset your password and the only way to use password manager again is to delete your vault and all the info/password you have accumulated. I’m so glad I found the is out early. I have used Onesafe for 10 years now and have over 800 passwords. If I lost that I would be so upset. I was actually trying this app out for my college bound daughter after I set her up in LifeLock. I thought it would be good for her to use the password manager so I tried it out. Somehow in the set up of a vault I mistyped the password and could not log back in, after dealing with support they informed me I would have to delete the vault from a computer. My daughter is notorious for forgetting passwords which is why I though an app like this would be great! This app is useless! I will set her up with Onesafe..Version: 8.0.0
