✓ Documentation and controls a messOuch. I am principally interested in loading and displaying my own photography on the Canvas. The app and my. Meural site are confusing, limited in scope and wholly inadequate to the task of guiding a user thru the features. And I'm not a novice at deciphering interfaces and getting things done in digital realms. After trying to parse out what makes an album distinct from a playlist, after muddling unsuccessfully for long stretches how to get a jpg to actually arrive on the Canvas screen, after seeking in vain for instructions on how to load images from a SD card, I realized this was going to be a struggle. I called support for help with the SD card loads, and found out there is a cache of Kniwledge articles available, somewhere, somewhere hidden from the app and so-called documentation it seems, and that offered a solution. Which didn't work. Egad--WHO did Netgear employ to design and implement a user interface?.Version: 5.1.1.5226
✓ Hardware is Great Software is uselessI like the Meural itself. The app constantly doesn’t work. For example, deleting an album in the app… it tries to delete it and then the app closes. Loses connection to the Meural constantly. Takes a long time to sync. They also started charging for certain art even if you are already subscribed. What’s the point of a subscription if you have to pay more? I would buy more, but the app stops me and ruins the experience..Version: 5.3.1 (7881)
✓ Going backwardMy Meural is one of my favorite gadget. The app though needs work. The experience has been improving but stability has much room for improvement, between small lags to complete freeze, it requires “patience”. The one thing that is beyond me: since the last update, one can’t add art to a playlist anymore. What’s the point of the Meural if you can easily add art? ✓ Ok but has issuesThe concept of the Meural is really good and I can’t fault the picture quality. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for the app.. Trying to upload photos and no matter which album is selected it only shows photos from Recent not great when there are over 6000 images. The second issue I have is the scheduler. I wanted them to come on in the morning for a bit then then again in the afternoon until late. It just doesn’t work. Luckily the sleep when dark function does so they aren’t on 24/7 but still would be better to control them. It would also be good if they had Google Home support..Version: 4.12.1.1321
✓ Kind of quirkyIt’s a beautiful app but it lacks in some clear direction/explanation. There seems to be a big lag between submitting a command and the Canvas actually getting the artwork. What’s kind of more confusing, is that sometimes it’s only 3 seconds and then other times 25. Also when I try to send images from my phone to my custom galleries, not all of my images on my photo roll show up. Only some. Again, there’s no clear explanation for this. There is also no navigation between iPhone albums, so you have to search through your full collection of images..Version: 4.7.2
✓ Bad App for loading own contentThe canvas is a great concept and beautiful. Loading your own content from IOS is a clunky joke. If you pick “upload photo” it shows all you photos and no ability to specify an album. Although there is a field at the top to pick an album, it does not actually show you that album and insists of showing all your photos. Also if you Airdrop a photo to your iOS photos that photo will not appear in the upload media in the App. It only seems to want to upload photos actually taken on your phone or iPad. ✓ Broken appAs others have stated, this app does not allow for easy browsing and adding my own images. Moving between iOS Photos albums does nothing and won’t refresh new photos. I had to resort to adding images to frame through the website - which is still a very clunky process. The hardware itself is pretty good - the display is fantastic but the rest of the fit and finish is just ok. Lots of cheap plastic and ill fitting parts but in the end, you typically don’t get all that close to the 27” model so it’s something I can overlook..Version: 4.12.1.1321
✓ There’s got to be a better wayBeware if purchasing the frame used, or buying a return unit: Unless the previous owner properly removed their profile from the frame, it’s locked to them. The reset button should bring the frame completely back to factory settings, like so many higher value, easier to steal iot devices allow. Instead, after submitting a proof of purchase and the barcode from the back, I’m now waiting for the unit to be unlocked during a short return window..Version: 5.3.1 (7881)
✓ App is seriously flawedLarge jpegs cause the app to fail and fall into an unrecoverable state (unresponsive to any command or to restarting the app). The only solution seems to be to uninstall the app and start again ... it’s actually incredible..Version: 5.1.0.5021

I literally just came to write this after trying three times to upload something and constantly getting error messages. :( I hope they fix it. ✓ People should come first - customer support and cancelation policy horrible!I was so excited to get my Meural canvas II. As a lover of the arts, I was excited to be able to display my own art and browse their catalog. I was hoping for a great experience but instead received the worst customer service when I called the support line. I received a box that was clearly opened and when I contact them they offered no exchange and refused to offer a discount customary of buying used or open boxes items. The app is still a bit buggy and shut off once or twice in the middle of using it. The subscription can only be canceled by customer support which after spending over an hour on hold with no compensation to make up for their product not meeting expectations you can see why it would be better to be able to manage the subscription through Apple. Unfortunately, I have now started to look for other services. I think to build a successful product and brand requires respecting and listening to people who took the time buy your products. I didn’t feel heard or seen as a consumer and as such highly DO NOT RECOMMEND this product until it offers better customer support and enables subscriptions through trusted services with a cancellation option that does not require reaching out by phone on hold 1+ hours to cancel a subscription..Version: 5.2.8.7133
✓ Meural Canvas doesn’t work.Brand new, out of the box, only worked for about 1 day. Now I can’t get it to come on. I unplugged it, turned it on, the Meural symbol and “Meural” shows illuminated for about 2 seconds then it goes off. I’ve gone into the app, selected the playlist, and it says “now showing” but there’s nothing on the screen. Great idea, terrible execution. Also found out that my work had bought a couple and experienced this same thing with at least one. Figure it out, gang. No good..Version: 5.2.8.7133
✓ Bad app…So hard to use!Haven’t improved that much after being gone for two years: I can’t easily demo nor delete my favorites! Some “favorites” I no longer wish to have. It pains me to delete them. After deleting one, Meural moves position so I always had to start from the beginningIt plays “recent”. ✓ Great product; iOS App update awfulLove, love, love my Meural Canvas - amazing product! ✓ Great frame, crap app functionThe frame and concept is nice, but it’s nearly impossible to upload a nice compilation of photographs. Sizing is challenging, time required to upload is a nightmare, you often have to upload the same image 5 or 6 times before it actually takes. I’ve had this for about 3 months and have only uploaded about 20 of the 150 photos I have earmarked to upload. Wouldn’t buy again. Nice if you just want one photo or piece of art. ✓ Priority is subscriptionThe app does not work for me to upload any of my own works, despite listing this functionality. I’ve tried numerous times to upload to no avail. I am able to control my Meural playlists and schedules, which is why I have two stars. The developer has gone out of their way to give users every opportunity to subscribe to their service or purchase other artists works. This experience leads me to believe Meural/Netgear are more concerned about subscription revenue and less concerned about the user experience for customers who already paid a pretty penny for the display device..Version: 4.12.4.1589
✓ Flaws in the APPLet me begin by mentioning that the Meural photo frame is an excellent piece of hardware. For me, the issues are with the Meural app. First off, the app will not upload any photos that are synched from a MacOS device. I keep a large library of photos on my Mac Mini and then synch selected albums to my iPad and iPhone. On both devices, these photos fail to upload to the Meural website. Photos that were taken or saved to either device upload as expected. The only way that synched photos can be uploaded for the frame is by using a browser. They work fine. Second flaw appears on the iPad only. On the iPad, the Meural app only displays in Portrait view. It will not rotate to Landscape regardless of the orientation of the iPad..Version: 5.2.8.7133
✓ Bug bugs bugsIt feels like Netgear have abandoned the Meural product line. This app is extremely buggy, needing a log-out log-in regularly otherwise actions fail with a vague token error. The album link feature doesn’t support HEIF properly, so iPhone photos don’t work. The app constantly freezes or is extremely slow. When this product came out it was great, now it’s a shadow of its former self. Come on Netgear!!.Version: 5.3.2
✓ Worst App for a big companyYou would think the idea of such a nice product and idea of the Meural and all the capabilities it possesses that the company who can have Wifi technology and Orbi routers and all the other electronics could make a non glitchy app that doesn’t freeze all the time and run into so many issues. Not a day goes by where I cannot access the full app, upload a photo, access an album. And to boot you buy the annual membership and they still find a way to charge you..Version: 5.0.7.3228

✓ Latest update broke layoutAfter the latest update the app started to randomly have layout issues upon launch. The row of icons that are supposed to be on the bottom ended up on the middle of the screen and the texts remained on the bottom, and the app stops responding to touch. It only happens when you open the app for the first time of the day. Looks like loading fresh data on app launch caused an auto layout issue with broken constraints, please investigate and fix!.Version: 5.2.6.6755
✓ Frame randomly on, misses sleep timesThis may be firmware vs app issues, but Meural frame has gotten worse since roll-out. Schedule no longer works well, as frame turns on randomly on it’s own (even when schedule is turned off), and app reports “frame is sleeping” when viewed. When schedule is on, it transitions to the correct album as scheduled, but misses “sleep” times so remains on too long. Need to return hand gesture “sleep” to menu. ✓ It’s great, but it isn’t.Not easy to delete photos once in library, hard to upload pics from anything other than mobile device, says “offline” a lot when it isn’t. Wish there was a way to play all pics uploaded and not just one playlist at a time - OR be able to play 1 playlist after another instead of same on continuously. ✓ Different painting or picture every day!Got a Meural Canvas Leonora Black about a week ago. I will admit that it is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for! Absolutely love it and it’s exactly what I have been looking for. I am able to put my favorite pics on it and they look marvelous, for $50 a year I get unlimited stock of professional paintings, and helping the art Community out. Not going into what it all does, for that’s too much, but check it out it’s well worth the dollars I have spent! I have put it on a painting easel & love that setup! Their customer service via the phone right now is very poor, but I believe they are working on that. They do answer emails quickly. Am I satisfied so far. 100% Would I recommend it? ✓ Great product, horrible customer serviceLove everything about this, but the customer service is atrocious. I spent 48 minutes on a live chat to get nowhere on a mistaken $80 charge for two collections there were included in my membership. Absurd, at the end of the 48 minutes, a ticket for this problem was created by the incredibly unprepared agent. I end the chat, open the ticket in my email to find that I needed to elaborate on what happened because all the agent wrote was: “ verify customers membership and want refund for the downloaded art” . Pretty unbelievable. I hope they refund me the $80 because besides that (though it’s not light - customer service is incredibly important), it’s a good product. UPDATE: after 3 weeks, they reimbursed me for the artwork so though slow, it was effective. UPDATE 2: My membership stopped working again though I pay for it monthly (and already paid for this month), and it won’t see that I have a membership and wants to charge me for everything. The Customer Support is incredibly not free and I have to pay for a bug they have. If you guys put out a product that you’re not 100% certain works all the time with no problems, you cannot make people pay for customer support. Unbelievable..Version: 4.12.1.1321
✓ Meural frame is great but app needs workI love the frame itself but wish they could fix some fairly big bugs. (1) When browsing my photos to select some to upload, I have to browse my entire library of thousands of images. It is not possible to select from particular albums or favourites. (2) When I have uploaded an image, I can no longer add it to a playlist. ✓ Great product with lots of options, buggy appI love the frame itself and the idea of using either my own photos or the ones in the artwork gallery, but some things are not stable at all. Adding artwork from the app to a playlist immediately crashes the app every single time. My frame display went dark earlier today and I had to plug/unplug it several times before it would work again. ✓ Would be great if it worked with iPhone MaxAt the moment, everything in the app works with my new iPhone XS Max, EXCEPT (and this is a biggie) anything you select under Categories in the browse tab. Whatever you select, it just freezes the app and the only thing you can do is close the app, quit it, and restart. If you select anything there again, it will keep locking up the app. I’ve tried everything to see if I could get it to work: restart my iPhone, try over WiFi, try over cellular, etc.. On the bright side, I called Meural and spoke to a nice woman that took down the issue described. Hopefully a fix will be coming soon. Update: I tried the app on my iPhone X as well. ✓ Keeps Getting WorseOver the years, since Netgear came along, both the app and the customer service have gotten worse. The app used to function smoothly. Now there is constant reloading and waiting when attempting to change artwork manually. And it log out at random times. I’ve already cancelled my membership and don’t recommend this product while Netgear is involved. The selection of art work also seems to be getting worse with less emphasis on the available history of art included in your membership and more focus on contemporary work that they can try to sell to you..Version: 5.2.8.7133

✓ Utterly unusableI’ve owned a canvas since 2019 and while the hardware is incredible, it becomes nearly impossible to enjoy due to its reliance upon one of the worst apps that has ever existed. If you are in the market for something like this, I would not consider this product until the developers decide to invest in the app that is necessary for it to function properly. ✓ App is one of the worst interfaces I’ve seenOk, first off the Canvas frame itself is gorgeous! (When you do get your pics to appear) This app is simply bad! It crashes no joke every time I used it so far. Almost unusable to upload your own pics. This is how it goes: Hit upload, gross your fingers... opens your photos, ok click one or more then hit to send to canvas then freezes. Have to close app and hope it went. Then after you check it freezes again. Close app and repeat. “WHAT the heck”!!! And with no instructions on how to use the memory card feature is a big head scratcher......! If you love beautiful pics displayed (when it works) and absolutely love a frustrating interface download and get the frame. Or my recommendation, Wait till they fix what seems to be only an hour of coding to correct.. To the developer; thank you for taking the time to post a follow up response for me to reach out to you. This seems to be a little more than an auto response for all that seem to have issues with your app. All I want to know is how to use the SD card function and when the app will be fixed instead of a possible up-sell to purchase a subscription...? ✓ Unable to UploadEveryone seems to be having the same problem. Cannot upload photos through the app in iPhone. Developer keeps responding to all with “give me your email and contact information”. I have done this in the past, spent hours having them tell me to reboot everything, was escalated, and ultimately didn’t work until they fixed the bug in the app. They do not update the app frequently enough and this is clearly a division of the company that is not supported/staffed adequately. Do yourself a favor and stay away from meural. When it works it is great, but for months of the year when the app needs to be updated and it is neglected by the manufacturer it is garbage. Without software that works the hardware is a paper weight. Awful app awful updates. And to preempt the response from the developer, please do not ask to contact me. ✓ This app makes buying Meural Canvas a really bad idea.This app would get four stars if it didn’t crash constantly when trying to upload photos. It’s a bit unintuitive as well. It’s just not well thought out. This app really needs to have access to your photo libraries albums such as your favorites. ✓ Crashy crashy crash crashThis app has crashed 30+ times in the past 15mins I’ve tried to get my Meural pics updated. My Meural has been off for a few months due to home repairs, got it back up this morning, opened app to see the new interface. The new version looks amazing, but it freezes and crashes EVERY attempt to change photo, browse through libraries, upload newly linked album, etc. This wonderful pricey piece of tech is essentially useless on my wall because I cannot manage it.
