Alongside the meagre vehicle customisation (which is ridiculously expensive), the car models are as basic as they get, every car makes the same annoying thrums, and progression is painfully slow. Even if a player manages to find themselves a nice car, they’ll have to ‘level up’ at least 30 or so times in order to use it. On top of that mess, the game is shamelessly pay-to-win, featuring ridiculously-expensive, ridiculously-unrewarding card packs as a core mechanic, hiding a bundle of RNG which is less forgiving than Destiny’s. ✓ Do not play unless you don’t mind losing!!!Literally just spent $300 on trying to play this “Call of The Wild” event alone. Upgraded like 7-9 cars nothing was good enough to advance me to the last round. Always lost by 1-2 races. It gave me like 7 Ultra Rare Dodge Vipers which only one 1 race. 3 Epic Mustangs which didn’t do anything for the match. The only good car I got was the Corvette Stingray Z51 which I got in the 3rd pack out of like 12 packs. They know what they are doing they got the algorithm it is pay to play ballers only. Even in regular events you switch your cars around to adjust for the change in weather and track conditions the more your try to better yourself the more they manipulate you to buy their packs. It would be nice if you biffed some off-road cars so progression could be easier. Also the car packs. Following recent updates coupled with hitting 500rq the game has become impossible to finish above 50th place in every event. Before reaching 500rq I was able to regularly place top 10, often winning the events, as soon as I hit 500rq I commonly finish in the last 10 places, no matter how long/much I play. There needs to be more categories for trophies, 5000+ is not high enough. At 7000 trophies I regularly come up against 200,000 trophies, how is that fair? I am slowly losing interest in the game, the concept is great but it lacks execution, the only way I could see the game being entertaining is by pumping obscene amount of money into it (1000s not 100s). Recently they have changed the format where it’s impossible to win competition legendary cars without spending lots of money to try and find specific cars that you can only win with. I did an experiment whereby I spent £1,100 in one month to win the top prize car only to fall short at the end because I needed two legendary cars to complete it. I never got a single legendary car in around 40-50 carbon fibre packs. If you moan on the forums they remove your post for fear of frightening off other people. At least on here can I vent my frustration without fear of it being removed. I will change my rating if hutch stop this cash cow format. ✓ MehI spent about a week getting enthusiastic and playing regularly until the mechanics of the game hit home and then I just lost interest. Firstly, the whole garage slots and prize cars with timers until allocated slots system is cheap and only there for a cash grab. Secondly, I’m perfectly ok with paying inflated prices for the meagre upgrades in performance, but why in the world would I trade 3 cars in a total of 9 times just to upgrade one car? That is the most absurd concept I can think of in a game in my nearly 35 years gaming! There isn’t a rational reason other than to grab cash again. I mean seriously, it’s a mobile game with decent looking cards but that’s where the detail ends. Monotonous same engine drone for every car, basic physics and car models. ✓ RoadblockThis game is really fun. It is an interesting and new spin on racing games, and for the most part, the card system works well. The problem is that I don’t have time to grind out and get all of the rewards from every level, and I don’t think I’m alone when it comes to that issue. Another thing is that the final boss in Monaco, a race I would expect to be difficult, is impossible with the cars I have been given. Since it is all about luck in what cars you get, my garage contains 1 epic car, and four ultra rares, as my best five cars, four of which I believe are from previous campaign areas. There either needs to be another advanced game mode where you can get better cars withot spending stupid amounts of money, because I get mostly destroyed in PvP, and I am absolutely stumped by the final level. Great game, but now I’ve hit a point where I can no longer progress, giving me little to no reason to keep playing this game. I really hope you guys (Hutch) have a big update planned, because I am very close to giving up. ✓ Not enough contentI really would like to enjoy this game, the concept, the designs, the gameplay, I like it all, if I didn’t I wouldn’t be writing this review. However there’s just not enough content, I have finished the main campaign and there isn’t any point playing more of the game. In order to win races at this level you need A tier cars or above but the only card packs give B or below, and there’s only 2 normal given S rank cars. Honestly the challenges have no purpose to try to win them, you win and you get a B rank car at best. I came back to this game after a year or two hoping to find more content and that’s when I saw the championships. This of course got me excited as I enjoy this game. So then I grinded the final campaign, and events to try to get enough tokens for the championship however after getting into the championship I quickly realised how boring the update is, you get to play maximum one a day in the championship, but you’re forced to use D rank cars. ✓ Something missing…It’s fun if you like what it is. However you are forced to grind for garage spaces if you do not want to pay to win. I can compete online but it takes way too long to not only find my level in matchmaking but I won’t reach top tiers unless I’m playing for hours which a phone game shouldn’t be making me do. Okay, so if the matchmaking was more attained to stats based on my garage then I think I’d have more fun.. e.g. instead of using mainly the rq level as people tend to do the campaign and boost it too high to enjoy online, cap newer players who haven’t played over a certain amount of levels or got a certain number of legendary or super rare cars.. doesn’t have to be exactly those that are used as the benchmark but it gives newer and non money spending players more incentive to play outside the campaign. Also make garage slots cheaper already… you’ve got thousands of cars and yet the garage slot system is untouched and I cannot add any cars and neither do I wish to fuse the cars I already own… the events reward system becomes null and avoid because I can’t keep the rewards unless is currency and it hurts my soul. Without even logging back into Facebook I get the Facebook game including the cars I had from that game - I gave up the first time for a reason. But the won cars aren’t in my Facebook game garage. Lost all interest and can’t figure out how to get current game back. If you had asked me if Top Drives was a good game last week I would have told you, yes, give it a try. That is until this most recent update. The game maker, Hutch, has literally stolen the majority of players progress with this last update. They “re-rated” cars and if you had one of those cars fully upgraded it zeroed out and you had to start upgrading it all over. Then they tried to “compensate” you with some upgrade tokens that come no where close to get your cars back to the status that they were pre-update. Literally stealing all the hard work, time, and money that dedicated players such as myself and others have put into their game. It makes zero sense and whoever thought of the idea should be fired. But once you finish the campaign you are forced into either buying cars or winning public events. This was fine until recently when updates removed no condition race events, now you are forced to meet a minimum requirement car list to join races. What if you don’t have them? Tough. You can’t race and thus you can’t win prize cards that are needed to upgrade cars and fill out the garage. Need more garage space to fit the upcoming race requirements? You have to pay for that. ✓ Fun for 1 month onlyIt's basically a top trumps game. Sure you get to watch the two cards "battle" on-track, but the result is determined entirely by the numbers on the card. There are no user variations. The single player campaign is fun for that first month then after you're done you're playing 'online' matches only where you can't win any decent cards unless you manage to come 1st. Which you won't because no matter what you do you'll always drop out of first seconds before the contest ends. I say online in inverted commas because it's not online, it's sets of preprogrammed cards and player names. In order to do better you need to buy more sets of cards either through gold which is earned by watching tons of ads, or through currency which you win through playing. Trouble is the sets of cards are all a fix too. They all say you can get cards of a certain level or better, but you'll never get the "or better" part. So you end up just wasting gold and credits trying to get better cards to try and win a daily tournament to get more better cards which you're predetermined not to. ✓ Really good but....You guys really need to bring back daily events, because a lot of the time the filters in the events I cannot play and I could actually play something in the daily events, the new club thing just doesn’t cut it because they also have filters like x5 Renault and I’m like okay that’s good for people who pay but I’m not trying to spend $100 on a game I might not play in 10 years, and also for the weekly challenge I think the AI cars should abide from the filters because for all rainy maps the filter is that I had to have at max 4 performance tires so I was okay but the AI gets to choose as many standard tires as much as they want and I can’t even get through the first faze of the challenge, I get it has to be difficult but if you played this game standard gets like 10 more grip in rain then performance tires, also the Acura NSX is classified as an American vehicle which I know Acura is marked at North America but I think the cars should be from its origins, like Ford is labeled as British which it is actually American..ChemCh7RvVersion: 1.81.01

✓ Eventually gets impossible, quite quickly.I’ve been playing for about a week, but I’ve already stumbled upon some difficulty. I can’t fully complete the first part because I don’t have enough 4WD cars, let alone that’ll win against anything. Some other races also require an impossible amount of tuning and you’ll eventually need to fuse a bunch of cars to actually be able to make it somewhere past 35 stars because of the ridiculously, consistently low race quota where I could have an average 0-60 of 7 seconds and my race quota won’t be high enough because I can’t actually use my rare cars that have a 0-60 of less than 10 seconds without exceeding the race quota. On top of that, you could have a 0-60 in 6.5 seconds and the opponent could do the same thing in 8.9 seconds but they win against you because they have 3 more handling points. ✓ Selfish developersAs someone that has invested money into this game it is not worth it at all. I recently redownloaded this game and upon checking my garage I noticed changes they made to vehicle classes and one of the most annoying and sad changes they made was if your vehicle was upgraded classes so say from F to E, E to D, D to C and so on they took the Liberty upon themselves to selfishly reset all upgrade you made to the vehicle so say you grinded so hard in order to max one of your A class vehicles that took you a while to max or lots of money spent in order to gain the necessary amount of vehicles to max that vehicle. Now if they moves it to S class guess what that maxed vehicle is now a stock and it retains the value of its previous class. What this means is if you obtained it as a Class A and now it’s an S you can sell that vehicle for the value of the A not the S. But hey I’m expecting someone to respond on here and say how they provided upgrade tokens for us to remand our vehicles again but they didn’t even provide the correct amount of fusion tokens in order for us to use to max vehicle utilizing all the tokens. ✓ Great game but User Interface is still terribleI have raised my review from 1 to 3 stars because the developers are finally making UI changes but it is still a chore to play. They need to add lockable cars so you can’t accidentally fuse your cars. Another filter that is really needed is in the My Cars screen, where it takes ages to find cars to upgrade if you have a medium to large library - adding a filter to hide fully upgraded cars would be a huge help. This same filter would be a huge help in the fusion screen which is currently a nightmare to use. Another great filter here would be cars with zero upgrades, which are normally the ones to be used to upgrade, so fusion could be quick and not take hours. Another painful mechanic is the screen to pick the cars for your matchups. You have to do them in order for some reason. It would be much better if u could drag cars in any order and have a button to start because you normally know where 1 or 2 cars go immediately, then have to keep in your head the others. It would also be nice to be able to see the race times in the results screen, so you can see how to improve. The game is a lot of fun, but at the moment it feels like a second job. ✓ Great until a pointReally well put together game and enjoyable as you work your way through. Up until a point! That point is having collected all of the class C cars in single player. Progress comes to a complete halt because you cannot upgrade class B or above past stage 1. And without those as well as class C cars there is no way of completing single player or being competitive enough to win decent cars in multiplayer. You can put money in, I have, but you get very little for what are ridiculous sums of money. I’d happily put a couple of quid in here and there if I got a class C or above every time but you have to spend at least £10 to get the chance at just one! You can’t have multiple saves of the game which is kind of annoying especially since after you complete the initial campaign the game gets grindy or you have to spend a lot of money. It’s basically a top trumps game but with cars that you can upgrade by sacrificing other cars. It’s really addictive at first, the campaign mode is great and they give you enough cars to earn throughout the mode to be able to complete it. When it comes to online mode, that’s where the mood changes. You win card packs with random cars within them but depending on how much you spend determines what class of cars you can win. £20 is enough to buy you a carbon pack (top tier) with a bit of change left over which is just below the threshold of being able to purchase 2 packs. You’re not guaranteed to get a decent car so when you play against people who have spent hundreds or even thousands on the game, you will have NO chance of finishing anywhere decent on the leaderboard. You need to be very lucky. This is the most concerning part... Hutch quite often move the goal posts of how the game is run and if you’ve spent a load of cash upgrading the your cars for a certain event, there’s a good chance they will reset the event making you lose everything you’ve gained. ✓ Update 1.1 (The Suzuki Update)Well the latest update rolled around and to be honest, you guys did a fantastic job in fixing some issues, both obvious and obscure. I was mainly happy with the ability to select your opponent in multiplayer, because I would no longer have to suffer through guaranteed defeat after guaranteed defeat. I'm also fond of some of the design changes. There's still some things that irk me, and prevent me from giving 5 stars: 1. No 100% Campaign completion reward. This really irritated me and left me in a bit of awe as to why there wasn't one. Like I should get a free pack or something that showed its difficulty in the later stages. 2. Trophies. Still have no idea what they are for. It just feels like it's only used to brag, and that's just a waste tbh. 3. Opponent Select. App kept saying we had connectivity issues but all our other devices and apps on this phone worked ok, only this app had issues. ✓ Too Much TimeThe game itself is exactly as advertised. You can race to win more cars, open packs, upgrade cars, etc. It was fantastic when this is how the game worked. Now, you’re *REQUIRED* to spend either ample amounts of time or small amounts of money just to win one event. Before, I’d get on the game, check the current events, get in my 5 races for that event and get offline. Well, if you do that now, you will stay in the lowest rank, which will also decrease your rep by 10 per event. My tickets do not refresh for over an hour, so I can’t continuously grind out my races to make it to one of the top spots. I could go 15-0, have more points than anyone else, and I will still be ranked 50th because I didn’t run *THIRTY* races in 24-48h. The expectations are quite high if you want anything decent in the game and it will take you much longer than before. I have played for a few years now and I only have 4 or 5 S class cars, so getting the exact one you want is almost guaranteed to never happen. And again, it will take even longer than those few years to get the exact same results. I have spent a little bit of money on the game as well but never anything above $20. I’ve been beaten by cars that are much worse in every way just cause they have “higher ground clearance” or “better off the line acceleration” on a flat asphalt track. The only downside is that after campaign there isn’t many other things you can do as if you go into events it’s rare that you’ll win anything good because of the highly skilled players ,that have been playing the game for years now, have very very good cars and they will find it easy to beat anything you have in your deck which makes it difficult to progress (without paying money). On the challenges section you always need very good cars to compete in these events. On the campaign section there are yellow bird and nismo challenges Yh only problem with these is that they are very difficult to complete and that makes it annoying as it takes ages to obtain over 100 purple tokens (the amount needed to compete in these challenges). Then I got frustrated by the game, sold all my cars including an Aston Martin V12 vantage, and Bentley continental gt and the rest of my cars in return for about 8 ceramic packs. Not one ultra or super rare from any of these 8 packs. To be honest I’ve probably got the worst cars I’ve ever pulled, basically what I’m saying is THIS GAME IS A RIP OFF AND ITS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME. Each week there are events you can compete in against other players (fun!) that require you to have specific types of cars with certain attributes in order to be competitive, and the best cars in the game are only available by winning these sorts of events. Over the course of the past month I spent $700 or more on card packs in an attempt to get a competitive lineup and win one of these prize cars and I frankly am nowhere near the top ten slots who will get the prize car. That’s not a sustainable model in my humble opinion. I will continue to play but i am not wasting anymore money on it, I wish I’d spent that on a PS5, which would bring much more lasting enjoyment. I get that developers like Hutch need to make money but this is out of control. Since I won’t be buying anymore packs I suspect that my ability to compete will wane, as will my interest in the game. ✓ Very expensive gameIt's a very fun game when you start out, trying to beat the cars in the individual scenarios and get rewards and more cars and such. It's challenging and fun. But the events are something else. To keep up with the "best" players you need to get the better faster cars and that requires card packs and real $$$. Even then, each card pack gives you mostly not such great cars and then one better one "rare," "super rare, " or better depending on the pack. But rare, super rare, etc doesn't always mean faster and better. It is very hard to get the top cars even when you spend $$$$$. And then you end up racing against cars with higher top speeds and lower, much lower 0-60 numbers and you don't win. And if you don't win matches, you don't win the better reward packs, and you get farther behind the people who somehow managed to get two, three or four cars with 0-60 less than 4, and less than 3, and top speeds of 190, 200 or more, and then you can't win. And what's the fun in losing so much? ✓ Deep pockets required.I have been playing this game for quite a while now as I am a huge car lover. It’s amazing to see the sheer variety of cars, that part is very pleasing. The part that is very unpleasant is the fact that if you do not have deep pockets, then you will not be able to compete at any reasonable level in the online multiplayer. It’s a catch 22, you can’t compete to get the good cars, so next time you still can’t be anywhere near the top as the good cars are won by the people putting lots of money into the game. ✓ UnimpressedStarted this game and loved the way it started out but after finishing the single player campaign (which is monotonous to say the least as once you find a set of cars to win with you have to do the same races over and over with the same cars on the same tracks just to gain all rewards in each section. Racing against different cars should have been a given) the multiplayer soon becomes tedious because you are limited heavily on garage space and with the multitude of different requirements (and there’s a lot) you soon find yourself unable to enter tournaments (of which there are far too few of) because you don’t have what’s needed and as garage spaces are ridiculously overpriced when put against the amount of cars in the game you soon find yourself looking for something else to play as you’ve done all you can and can end up waiting days for a tournament that you CAN actually race in. I have already bought lots of extra garage slots too but it still isn’t enough to have a wide enough selection to play (on some occasions) more than 5 to 10 minutes per day and unless you are prepared to dig VERY deep into your own pockets your kind of screwed. ✓ Absolutely unacceptableI played this game for quite some time, and gathered a fair amount of followers. I was posting and uploading content at least once every week. I left a couple comments on things the admin had said. Nothing rude but clearly he took offence. He was number one on the leaderboard and I mentioned in one of my posts how this was extremely unfair and biased. Next thing I know my account was deleted. ✓ Major update has ruined my gameThe new update has only seemed to have brought 1 or 2 good things here and there, yet everything else has been bad. First of all, they switched a ton of the cars that were decent from the green and blue ranks up to yellows and reds. Not only do you lose all the work and upgrades you put into your cars that move up a rank, the tens and thousands of dollars (game dollars) of work, the hours and hours of playing, and take it away, not even changing anything but a few cars stats ( there weren’t even that many cars that actually had a stat change), but the only compensation they give you is just some measly upgrades for the mediocre cars that are left in the previous rank. For example, I had an off road rally car, previously yellow rank, and moved up to red. Literally one point up, from 49 to 50. Nothing was changed about the stats of the car, just moved up one single point. Not only did all the work I’ve put into that car get taken away by making it stock once more, but all they give me is upgrades for the yellow cars, even though the only few I care about already have been maxed out. I would’ve loved if I could’ve had a warning to this, so I could actually prepare for top drives to take all my stuff, and I wouldn’t spend all my in game cash right before they take it away. ✓ Playing and paying for 6 monthsWell I have put in over $2,000 into the game and even after being rewarded 800k gold(Literally $8,000 worth of game credits!!!!), the game is not worth the money. The issues I have had with lost cars and even before hutch gave me 800k gold, has made bring the rating down to 1 star from 5. After about 8 months of playing Top Drives, it has come to simply being a game that is played over years and aimed at grabbing cash from players. Even with thousands of dollars and years of playing(I have played the game since it first game to the market on other devices/files), it is a game designed without an end. ✓ I've become very annoyedI would review this as a 1 star game, but I did become addicted to it for the 1st week of having it downloaded on my device. I became so addicted I already put £20 into the game, and in return didn't really get much for my money from the card packs. What now annoys me is that I'm stuck on the Monaco single player campaign, and their are others that have beaten it to get the mclaren cars. And because I can't get that car, every race I now compete in on multiplayer I'm loosing. I'm being put against other cars in track scenarios which I just can't win. I did over 100 races in my last 4 day event, had 50 losses, and came in at 36th, there was other people who had 30 wins and 20 losses but came in at 11th still to be able to get the better car reward.... I don't get it. ✓ Good to a point, many issues.Great game, good concept and plays well to a point. I have had a few races that don’t weigh up properly, either through tyre or other stats, they just don’t work as a car would in the same situation. Skinny tyres in wet conditions would not be better than performance tyres, and yes I’ve taken all the other stats in to consideration in snow and gravel yes this would be true. I have followed rally’s for many years and worked on these cars so I know what they use in what conditions. Currently awful record at keeping the servers available to players particularly at important moments. The game mechanics mean that the final 10 or 15 minutes of an event are crucial to players’ final placement (and therefore reward level). As a result many times more players are attempting to connect to their servers from 9:45pm to 10pm (UK time) than the rest of the time (if you’re not regularly free to play at that time don’t bother to download the game at all). Because they don’t have engineers of sufficient competence to scale their provision for this increase in load players are regularly locked out of the game by connection failure at exactly the time they most need to. For example I have completed a chapter of the single player campaign and I have not been given the reward vehicle you are supposed to receive. However, this game seems to be made by EA, because this has one of the worst Pay to Win systems I’ve ever seen. Once you complete the campaign, you hit a brick wall. ✓ Frustrating pay to winStarting the game can be extremely fun, with the campaign there is a good variety of races and different scenarios however once you complete these (fairly quickly) the online is unbearably annoying. You have different criteria to enter races the challenge/online races which 90% of the time you won’t match therefore you cannot play it. If you can enter the match the top players have far better cars due to them paying for them so you don’t stand a chance of getting any good rewards. The paying aspect is unbelievable expensive for what you get so be prepared to spend hundreds to simply compete.
