✓ Feels like we’ve been dumped...I used to love this App, my friends and family did too. We’d play it every evening, every 3pm game, loved seeing Beric in his outfits! But then from out of nowhere, the app just disappeared and games stopped happening, no explanation given. We then found out that HQ had jumped to USA times (jumped to or jumped back to, we’re not sure) which was a huge shame, waking up every morning to find I’d obviously missed the 3am game because it was being done on American time. Would recommend to all our American cousins, it’s a lotta fun, but if you’re British I wouldn’t bother, not until the ridiculous lag is fixed at least, and even then I would imagine you’ll be asleep whilst it’s happening....Jown92Version: 1.4.7

✓ Not a review, app support request, wrong answersThis is not really an app review, it is an app support request. I am unable to submit a request for support on the app because I keep getting sent to Twitter. Since I do not have a Twitter account and find no reason to make a post on there I am resigned to posting a “review“. A few of the questions that come up during the daily challenge game have wrong answers that are selected or told to be correct. Case in point, the question: “Which of these is the highest rank below General in the Armed Forces.“ The answer choices are Lieutenant, Major, and Brigadier. The correct answer is Major, however the game chooses Lieutenant as the correct answer. Major is an 05, Lieutenant in the Navy is an 03 in the other services it is an 02 or an 01, and Brigadier by itself is not a standalone rank. As a retired military member it pains me to see this wrong question pop up on a regular basis. Feel free to contact me to correct this issue. ✓ Some issues.I feel like there’s a lot of potential and it’s a brilliant idea. However there are a couple of primary problems, both of them with the same theme. First of all is the fact that when the question is asked and the option menu for the answers pops up it is not accessible for blind and visually impaired users who use voice-over. This essentially hamstrings our ability to participate in the game because it means that we cannot answer the question. Additionally the app layout in general is not accessible with voice-over; notably The text field for the chat box is not accessible with the current layout. I think that in order to make this game better there must be some changes made in order to accommodate the layout with voice-over for disabled people..YoungdaggaVersion: 1.3.2

✓ Unique Concept, Poor ExecutionA live trivia game that gives out free cash is brilliant, don’t get me wrong. But it takes some real optimization and some beastly servers to hold almost 1 million people live - this is where HQ gets a 3/5. If you have well-rounded knowledge about arbitrary trivia facts and a little bit of luck, you may be able to win a fraction of some money. As long as you don’t get screwed over by lag, accidentally press the wrong answer (as you can’t change it once you’ve clicked it), not be allowed to click one, or leave because the game starts so late. Other than those small hindrances, you can do it! But, those “minuscule” obstacles aren’t so small once you start playing. It exasperates you to your limit, getting rigged by the game to questions you know you answered correctly, leaving you feeling swindled. That is why this review is only giving HQ a 3/5 stars, and that’s being generous. ✓ Change host, fix lagThis game is pretty fun, and although I’ve never actually won, I play it a lot. The only two issues with this game, however, are the two main functions of the game: the trivia and the host. The trivia questions themselves are usually pretty good, and the difficulty curve is smooth enough. I like that you can submit your own trivia as well. However, the issue is lag. The game constantly freezes and leaves you with little or no time to answer the questions, sometimes kicking you out entirely. This is a big problem with the game. The worst thing about this game, however, is the host. He is quite possibly the worst, most annoying person I’ve ever heard. He constantly rambles, all his jokes are forced, and his attempts to be clever are usually just him reusing catchphrases from various 80’s cartoons. I usually play with the volume on silent, and leave a game as soon as I lose, not waiting around to see who wins. Sometimes I’ll quit a game early because I just can’t stand the host. ✓ Just not worth itThe live questions (the entire app) rarely works. It’s either buffering or jumping about so that when you have ten seconds to answer the question, you usually miss it before it’s even loaded. Exactly the same on fibre optic WiFi or 4G so it’s their server issue. When you do get glimpses of the “presenters” it’s painfully embarrassing to watch them read off the teleprompter. I’m sure they’re lovely people but it’s very cringeworthy to watch. The app glitches and freezes constantly, causing you to be eliminated unfairly as you don’t get to answer the question in time. Sometimes the answers don’t even appear, again causing you to be eliminated. Sometimes the notifications about the next quiz starting live come up 5-10 minutes late, so you don’t open the app in time. The questions are all US specific, so if you didn’t go to a US elementary school and learn about constitutional amendments, or know American cereal brands etc, you won’t get past the 4 or 5th question. Everytime I've been on to play there's been terrible lag, and not just it being glitchy, I mean the game itself freezes and doesn't either show the question/makes it unable for you to submit an answer (or the next answer pops up right as it's ending). All of this should have made me turn away from it, but again, the concept was intriguing, so I stick around hoping the bugs would get fixed. The final straw though? No game is guaranteed. I was just online for the 15k prize tonight, and was in the server waiting for the game. I popped in at the 3 minute warning before the game started, as I knew it would be full for the big prize. So I was there early. I heard his intro remarks (and bad jokes), and was generally excited for the game. And then, as he's announcing question 1, I was kicked from the game as the room was "at capacity". But I was there early? I waited patiently for the bugs to be fixed, and even recommended this game to my friends despite it's pit falls. And this isn't really about the money either, as I've never made it past question 7. I thought the quizzes happened twice a day at specific times but so far they have either started very late or not at all meaning it’s impossible to schedule in when you can play. ✓ ScamI used to enjoy this game, thinking it was a fun challenge. However, as it has gone on, I’ve realized that it has slowly turned into a scam, to get cash. They convince you to buy extra lives, for way too much. There are supposed to be winners every night, but every night for the past week, on the last question the last 14 or so people mysteriously didn’t answer.... well they all screamed in the chat that they had got booted out and it didn’t let them answer. This would be because HQ is indeed broke. How could they have 60,000 dollars every night to give away? Exactly, they don’t. Tonight is 100,000 and I guarantee that nobody will win. On the chat, everyone was getting really mad and writing bad reviews, so that night, HQ sent out a notification that a person who chose to stay anonymous won 50,000. How exactly would they win it if nobody won the trivia?? HQ has slowly turned into a scam to take your money and give you false hope of earning cash. They’ll say it’s the users Wi-Fi but that’s crap. Anyone notice how during the Super Bowl game the host-dude had to ramble for ever after each question as hq tried to get their service to work. Today’s nighttime game was no better (except this time the mindless, rambling host was the hot one). How youz doin’...? Gave it one star because it’s a good concept. Of course, if you do actually survive their touchy servers and don’t get dropped AND then actually answer all the questions, your prize is a shared and very small percentage of money ($2,500\#of winners which is usually in 1000s, thus actual payout per game is typically $1-$3). Some $ better than none? Ok. Sounds good until you realize hq doesn’t actually payout the $ until you have banked at least $20 in a single month (otherwise you go back to zero winnings; read their t&c’s). Meanwhile, all your personal deets are being harvested and sold, along with your other good kidney, to North Korea or another hacker nation. ✓ Used to be goodLet me preface this by saying hq used to be great. I’m from the UK and the shows were great to look forward to. I had the occasional issue like the app freezing on the last question but the formula was great and I played it tonnes with family on holiday. Then they started messing with the structure. They totally ditched the UK show and whilst I see on Twitter it’s on a break the hosts of said UK version seem to think it’s cancelled. What this leaves us with is a cultural difference the size of the Grand Canyon with questions oriented to us audiences being American but that’s even IF you can play the game! The us version is so laggy and keeps buffering so often its literally unplayable and that’s not just me complaining, it buffers for 40s on a 200mbit connection for 10s playback. Team that up with hq not responding to any questions and support going unanswered and not even the UK hosts knowing what’s happening, Hq is about as transparent as a brick. I hate that I’ve had to but I’ve had to uninstall the game because I’m literally unable to actually play it anymore which I could assume is the case for the rest of the country. Today was my final straw - please note that bad decision-making cost you this customer. Questions 1 & 2, and sometimes 3, are usually pretty easy (like lame easy. Think: What usually goes with peanut butter: jelly, tuna, ghosts, a rock) Today, the first question was more difficult and more than half of the participants got out. Apparently, that wasn’t the originally-planned first question. TOO bad! The rest of us got it correct. Whoever missed it still would have missed it regardless when the question would have come up. I don’t get another chance when I’ve missed questions, whether it was the 2nd or 3rd or 10th. I stead of just moving forward, the host made a big fuss about it so they decided to start all over and out everyone back in. Foolish decision. At that point, I knew I would delete the app. So many people kept saying to move on in the chat, but you didn’t listen. Then, they just shut it all down and closed the current session. ✓ Matt’s NOT Funny!The new update didn’t fix stability issues. It added pop-up ads into the daily challenge, which freeze. You have to totally close out of HQ, then restart it. Really inconvenient. And it’s hard to focus on a timed daily challenge when every other question is interrupted by an ad. Before that, I thought it was a new nice feature. A fun idea. Sorry Matt, you’re not funny! I think you’re a nice guy, but if you refer to us as “babies” one more time I’m going to rip out your earrings! PLEASE no more singing! Gives me migraines & you waste too much time. ✓ Very frustrated w/ cash out - please advise!The last day of “last season” HQ operated, before it shut down, I received a notification to cashout. When I tried, it said there wasn’t enough, and it went to $0!! I was bummed because I worked hard to win that over several games! (see below.) I haven’t won at all this season yet, and would love to see Levels &/or 3 lives come back. But literally a few days ago, my previous balance finally showed again on Wed April 29, and I took a screenshot. (Today is May 2) Now it shows down by half! What the heck?! If you don’t at least have integrity to do the right thing, you will lose lots more people. ✓ GET YOUR ACT TOGETHERI got this app a few months ago. At first I was very addicted. After a while I started noticing glitches. One time the keyboard for HQ Words would not type in the letters that I had pushed, causing me to lose the game. After a while I got over the fact that the game has a lot of bugs, until I played the HQ Words game today. The game started off good like any other game (still had glitches) after a few rounds, there was a question asking the name of a fictional boxer. The answer to the question was supposed to be "Rocky Balboa", however, the app made a typo saying the answer was "Rocy Balboa". Anna, the host, promised the viewers that had been eliminated by the question would get an extra life for another game. She, however, did not mention to give anything to the viewers who did not get out on the question but had used one of their 10 lives on the question. Which brings me to my other complaint of giving the viewers only 10 lives for the ENTIRE game instead of the previous rule of giving 3 lives per question. ✓ Underwhelming ExperienceIt’s sad that I just clicked on 1-Star and didn’t even flinch or second guess. I loved this game from the jump, but almost every time for the past 3 weeks, I’ll get eliminated between questions 1 and 4 because the answer selections won’t pop up, or the app freezes, or some other unfortunate circumstance. I make sure before I play that I’m on WiFi or have full bars and LTE, and the game still acts up. This is demoralizing as a consumer because I and tens of thousands of others aren’t getting a fair chance at winning. If the prize is more than $5,000, rest assured that the game WILL glitch and you WILL lose...and it won’t be your fault. Find a different pastime for your mental health’s and emotional stability’s sake. It was fun for the first 6 weeks, but I’m just tired of wasting my time getting amped up to play just to have the app deciding my fate twice a day every day. ✓ Great concept but unplayableThe game itself is a lot of fun; the trivia is a bit hard, the multiple choice options are good and the prize money is great! The issue is with all the updates and phone updates the game is basically unplayable. Sometimes the game lags so much, it kicks you from games, questions don't appear, you get eliminated even if you got the answer correct.
