✓ A Classic For A ReasonThe Rome: Total War series is clearly popular for a reason! I’m an avid fan of ancient history, and this game was on point the whole way through. Historically accurate, yet no less fun because of it, the premise is simple: you have 100 turns to take Alexander’s empire. The time limit means you’ll have to take bigger risks than in other games from the series, but this only heightens the enjoyability, as the payoff to a big gamble can be astounding. The battles happen in real time, and are executed wonderfully, the graphics, while not stunning are perfectly fine, and the tactical elements are well implemented without being overwhelming, so the game remains highly strategic without being to crunchy. ✓ Nice app, very historical indeed.I always love ROME: Total War Games because it gives you the right thing what happened in ancient history such as Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece like the Romans or Macedonians/Greeks. I love learning about Alexander the Great that he cross the Hellespont into Asia-Minor and did his father's grand plan to invade the Achaemenid Empire under Darius III and really stunning dramatic victories of Alexander, such as the three major battles such as the Granicus, Issus and Gaugamela. and other battles such as the Persian Gates at the Zagros Mountains when he was about to enter Persepolis and the Hydaspes when he met Porus, King of Pauravas in the Punjab. ✓ Really badI had the first version of this game on PC and loved it. This version however, makes little to no sense. I play in campaign mode and I’m doing really well. Suddenly the game tells me I’ve failed and that’s it... it’s the end of ‘the game.’ I loaded a previous saved game and continued in a different way only to be told I’d failed again! Game over. At that point I had conquered all the settlements I could see on the map, had a full rating in each of h thy me and they were all making money... fail apparently. It seems that to complete or even play this game, you have to have a degree in history with a focus on Alexander The Great as you have to play the game the way he fought his campaign in order to play it. ✓ I love Total War Games!I really love Total War games and I've been so excited that first Rome and now Alexander are available on iOS. However this one, Alexander, is really buggy. I don't remember Rome iOS being as buggy as this play through of Alexander was for me. Hopefully they keep ironing out the bugs. Edit: I just replayed the campaign after the last update and many of the bugs have been fixed. I still saw a few bugs, such as one involving being unable to deselect a city on the world map that happened on both play throughs occasionally, however performance has really improved. ✓ One considerable flawFor those of you who don’t know, this developer has created what may be the most profound representation of the Hellenistic era within the video game industry; the battle controls and campaign immersion are hard to beat and were impossible to compare to in it’s day when it was originally released. This game as well as it’s base program will always be one of the best strategy games ever in my opinion, but this expansion has one brutal and inexcusable flaw in that the campaign doesn’t include India or the Hindu Kush Mountains, the lands of myth and legends at the edge of Alexander’s known world, just past of which he and his armies would finally be forced to turn around. I found it hard to believe the first time I beat the campaign. I feel the expansion is not complete; it ended so abruptly that it seemed like a slap to the face even though I was suspicious of the map border the whole time. Because of this I’d say the expansion lacks length as well as informative depth and history. It’s still a great play and an excellent way to get a kid interested in Greek history, but without a multiplayer add on or other faction campaigns it will lack replay ability compared to it’s base game. I still highly recommend the game for anyone who likes the vanilla RTW, but it hardly emphasizes the accomplishes of Alexander the Great and doesn’t give any insight to his companions or their history..KPiimaunaVersion: 1.13

✓ It’s a nice port of a pc game but...It maybe a design intention to have no access to India but why are the Persians there? It undermines what they may have tried to do or why have a settlement there at all? The units in the game are comically color coded and lack the realism and discipline of the historical armies. You can only play as Alexander’s faction which does remove sone of the variety and fun that the option to play a variety of factions bring. Still not a bad game but then then lack of versatility does lower the replay value quite a bit. The intro and ending sequences were fun and educational that could have used a bit more of a sense of story or role playing during the mid of the game. Given the type of one shot one side game it is, more story and rp like elements would have helped it greatly. While the merc options were one of the highlights, some of the units were too generic or appearing in in places that made less sense..XeripedesVersion: 1.8.1

The main flaw I see is that ROME: Total War - Alexander just is not repayable enough, with historical battles not being good (different review for a different time), only four factions for custom battles, and only the one Alexander campaign, which you must play the exact same way every time if you want to win (go through Persia, take the key settlements in time or you lose). With most of my review directed towards the cracks, it is easy to forget the beauty of this mosaic. While there is only one campaign, it is a pretty good one, the time limit forcing a new rush into your actions that other campaigns often lack. The historical battles are also great, their problems being the problems with all historical battles.
