LEGO® DUPLO® Connected Train for Negative User Reviews

1.2GB!! Seriously???I have to download and keep a 1.2GB app for 4 simple forward, backward, light and sound remote-control buttons? Seriously? (I don't want/need any of the “activities”?).Version: 1.8.17

Screen locked into one position?!?!Why can't I change the screen orientation by unlocking it on iPad and standing up my iPad with my keyboard stand case? My daughter wants the iPad propped up in landscape view but it's upside down? Please FIX!!!.Version: 1.1.0

Heavy as hellWhy the app to control a little train should be 1.25GB?!.Version: 1.8.21

No soundNo sound on 6th gen iPad on version 15.3.1. All sound settings on, reinstalled several times. This the only app that doesn’t have sound on my device..Version: 1.8.16

Engine brokeThe engine broke 5 minutes into playing with it. It won’t move on its own anymore. My son is very disappointed. We have to return the whole thing..Version: 1.8.21

Standalone app for controlling Duplo trainHi Lego team, Is it possible to make a standalone and small sized app just to control the Duplo train? Given the size of huge ( of 1Gb) my device is gonna run out of storage..Version: 1.5.14

Doesn’t work with two trainsI have two Duplo trains, and two phones. I used to be able to have each of them connected, but right now, when I connect one train, the phone for the other train shows it disconnected. Power cycling the disconnected train causes the train that was connected to disconnect..Version: 1.8.21

Obviously not tested on childrenVirtually every control for the train is right on the edge of the screen, and you slide your finger to operate the controls. Well, guess what? Apple engineers use the exact same ‘swipe from the edge’ motion to switch between apps. Try explaining to a 2 or 3 year old that they can’t actually touch the edge of the phone when trying to grab the speed control knob which is literally .1” away from the edge of the screen. If your child isn’t exactly precise in their finger position they end up starting to switch between apps, and the instant you begin to switch apps, the Bluetooth connection is disconnected and you must wait about 5 seconds for it to reconnect. Incredibly frustrating. Even more so when you realize all the LEGO developers had to do to discover this issue is let one or two children use the app for all of 5 minutes before they realized how big of a design flaw this layout is..Version: 1.2.0

Can’t give more for just a loading screenValid phone, location services active (app says it needs it but didn’t see it in the list). All I get is the loading screen. So it does not really do anything. Looking forward to a fix..Version: 1.0.2

Freezes on title screenApp stopped working. It freezes on the Lego Duplo title screen..Version: 1.5.14

Not connectingFollowed all instructions and train not connecting. :(.Version: 1.8.17

The quality 😐I was playing this for a minute and was shocked at the guy in the corner. Not gonna lie he jumpscared me badly. I think it is complicated but they tried. Thats all that matters. Anyway keep up the great work Duplo! ❤️ It was also tricky and a little boring. If I was little I would play once and say “delete it please” because its just uh... I liked toca train with different things and you can do so many cool fun things but this is just... bad..Version: 1.8.17

Can’t connect to BluetoothThe app requires Bluetooth permission, however the app doesn’t show up in iOS settings to enable Bluetooth..Version: 1.8.10

Did developers test this app on an iPad?Concur with others... the train won’t connect with my iPad Pro. Inches away, Bluetooth is enabled, and location services are on (the app doesn’t appear on the Location Services list, so can’t be enabled individually). Also, for anyone that uses an iPad with a stand (almost everyone) the app is stuck in an upside down position. So yea, not good..Version: 1.2.0

TerribleWon’t connect..Version: 1.8.16

Doesn’t connect.Simply doesn’t connect to Bluetooth on my phone. Very minimal troubleshooting menu..Version: 1.2.0

Does not work.It got stuck on the Lego screen. I tried reboot the iPhone and re-download the app, but still..Version: 1.5.14

No refuel control. The biggest issue is that there are no options or buttons to control a refuel (the blue action brick with a droplet on it). The app as a whole is really large for what it does. As a whole, it is still a fun app for the kids. They have enjoyed the activities and controlling their train. With a smaller size and the refuel interface it would be a 5 star for sure..Version: 1.8.21

2cd reviewNo sound from this app on iPad Air 2. Newest iOS and rebooted multiple times. Reloaded app several times. Tech support seems nonexistent. Ipad says this is compatible. Useless if it’s not for iPad it shouldn’t be marketed as such..Version: 1.8.10

Can’t connect with iOS 12I have older iPads and even an older iPhone that I allow my toddler to use. The website says it will work with iOS 10.3 and above, but I tried it on both my older devices and it won’t even load for the train+app option, it only runs the app games. On my current phone iOS 16.6, it works just fine for connecting the train and running it. Please update your compatibility info on the site or fix it to work with older iOS versions. Thank you..Version: 1.8.21

Please :cPLEASE BRING LEGO JUNIOR BACK PLEASE.Version: 1.8.17

Not connectingNo longer connects via Bluetooth. Has a development team tested this lately on the latest version of iOS?.Version: 1.8.17

Alert03.18.2020 application pesto work on all devices. iPad 3 iOS 9.3.5 and iPhone 8 iOS 12.4..Version: 1.5.14

Excessive sizeWhy in the world is a app to control a toy train nearly 750mb. That’s bigger than imovie, that’s bigger than almost any app.Version: 1.2.0

Please fix itJust downloaded the app on my iPhone and iPad but it freezes on the home screen...kids are waiting to play ...please fix the app...Version: 1.5.14

App needs workIPad screen stays in the same orientation and no sound at all.Version: 1.2.0

Kids don’t careIn train control mode, Kids don’t care about the real train at all because of all the animations on the screen, it needs to be just a simple control screen with a lever for forward and reverse and a lever to pull for the whistle a button to press for the light so they can actually bother to look at the real train doing those things. Instead, there’s an animated character and an animation of the track going past, too distracting. Kids just stare at the screen while you listen to the horrible noise of the cheap motor screaming and whining..Version: 1.8.17

1.2Gb way too big!The size of the app, just to be a remote control for a train is way too big. It would also be good to be able to control the timeout function on the train from 2 hours to 5 minutes of no use before it self turns off. We go through a set of batteries a week!.Version: 1.8.17

Doesn’t work well on Face ID iPhonesA key action in this app is to swipe up near the bottom of the screen to make the train move forward, and if you are changing from reverse to forward it really IS the very bottom of the screen. Unfortunately this action is a shortcut to quit the app in modern iPhones with Face ID. Even if you quickly restart the app, it loses the Bluetooth connection to the train for several seconds..Version: 1.0.2

Bluetooth connection not workingBluetooth connection can not be established on iOS 16.3.1. It just won’t connect to the train, although bluetooth is enabled in the settings. Also everything’s fine on Android, so the train itself works properly..Version: 1.8.17

Can’t connect itNot sure how to connect it.Version: 1.2.0

App shows impossible tracksThe track feature is supposed to give you plans to build tracks with the pieces and sets you own. Unfortunately ours is showing pieces that we don’t have..Version: 1.2.0

GarbageIt’s poop.Version: 1.8.10

Loss of features: no water button anymoreAsty regression in features. No thanks!.Version: 1.5.14

Won’t connect to iPhone 14 ProNo matter what I try, doesn’t seem to be compatible with iPhone 14 Pro. Now have a train that won’t connect to the app because I upgraded my phone - devs need to keep up..Version: 1.8.17

Update broke train connectivity!Since updating this app to the latest version, we can no longer connect the orange or red Duplo trains to the app. You press ‘train and app’ and it just returns you to the menu. No connection setup/page anymore. Our child is very upset as loved playing this way using the iPad and it was one of the reasons we bought both sets. Is a fix planned?.Version: 1.8.21

Constant disruptionsThis app has a great concept, but there should be an option to turn off the “games” and just focus on the conductor and colour piece programming without constant interruptions..Version: 1.6.0

BugI dont know where to report that so Im gonna do it here: switching lights doestn work in noninteractive mode..Version: 1.5.14

Not working anymoreStopped responding.Version: 1.5.14

Bad.It has nowhere in the settings that you can turn on the Bluetooth permissions, so there’s no way to connect to the train. You should change that. Otherwise, the app is great. All it does is play weird music and sounds..Version: 1.8.21
