✓ While I appreciate the effortThere is much to praise about this site - no ads during games, nice graphics, a guide for pieces - there is a huge problem with the AI. Most evident is the normal level , where the computer thinks nothing about sacrificing knights in the beginning putting it at a massive disadvantage later in the game. Also, the distance between normal and hard is like going from kindergarten straight to college. I think more levels would help tremendously. As for now I am looking elsewhere..Version: 1.27
✓ Less of the big letters in the middle of the screen, we want to see the boardGreat 3D opportunity for mobile chess app, appreciated. “Randomized” option for white and black works well—should be an option. Lastly, there should be an option to review what happened over the course of the game after the game is over, obviously this is a big opportunity for learning, which is what most chess players will be doing on a game against AI. Making suggestions because the 3D game here is very good, much better than 2D.Version: 1.25
✓ Can’t winGood graphics, really realistic but it’s very hard to win a game. You can’t take out pieces with your king (only given an option to move the King) and I’ve noticed that the black side sometimes moves two pieces at once?! For example, the black rook moved forward and the black castle then moved to take the rooks previous place? This has happened more than once ..Version: 1.24

✓ Too drastic a difference between difficulty settingsThis is a great game app overall but I do have one glaring issue. One setting I can win in four moves every time and the next setting I can’t make it past four or five moves before I am checkmated. ✓ Doesn’t even have the correct rulesThe computer can check you and force you to move your king and only your king.. meanwhile they’re allowed to move other pieces to eliminate the checkmate. On top of that, there is a glitch that doesn’t allow your king to take out pieces when it’s checkmated? ✓ Goes from too easy to too hard too quicklyNice game. Board look and piece movement all great. As for game enjoyment, the easy setting is too easy - the CPU keeps sacrificing the same pieces in the same dumb ways every game. But as soon as you go up one level to Normal, it basically never makes a single mistake or goes for an attack, just defends everything and waits. ✓ DecentDecent app. Great graphics and feels realistic. My only fault is the same as what others have said. The jump between easy to normal is ridiculous. Easy is too easy. Someone who just knows the rules of chess, but never plays can win comfortably. Normal feels like you’re playing against Magnus Carlsen. Even if you take all of the opponent’s pieces, the opponent will just keep moving the king in a repetitive motion to create a stalemate (draw). You can’t win on any of the modes above easy. Fix this issue and you have the perfect chess game..Version: 1.24

✓ Not A Bad Wee AppDecent App occasionally doesn’t let you bypass the ads so you need to close and reopen. Unlike the real game you are unable to see what the board will look like after you move your piece I.E. make the move but keep your finger on the piece being moved then you are able to move the piece back as king as your finger has not left the piece. This would be very easy to fix, you move the price then have to click on a button to verify the move. A simple button addition would make it more like playing for real..Version: 1.29

✓ Fix Normal..I went in thinking “I’m pretty good at chess I’ll play on the normal setting...” I have got killed the last 3 games I have played... it’s like the AI is playing a perfect game everytime and is 5 moves ahead of me its definitely not what “normal” should be. So I was like, “well I must be worse then I thought or maybe I am rusty let me try easy...” It was like the AI was purposely trying to lose... lol I don’t even want to think about medium or hard if normal is this hard and easy is this easy... ✓ Broke the Game lolSo not only does this game not actually let you play against other real players (unless they’re sitting right beside you using your phone which at that point just use a real chess board), I was somewhat losing the game against CPU and then with 2 pawns and my king, I almost came back to win the game. The minute I make the pivotal play to turn the game, the game refuses to play its next turn like it’s unacceptable for me to win. This is on normal difficulty mind you. You either have to intentionally lose or if you do play it out to the win, it won’t finish the game so you don’t actually get to win..Version: 1.23
✓ App needs a rethinkingI’m giving this 2 starts for the looks. I would love to say a NORMAL player. Play chess this well. I have a 1400 chess rating and I absolutely struggle to win. I’ve took one of the other chess app I had and played it against each other. My other app was set up on Hard and this app on normal. Just to see how quickly it can beat it. The Hard setting had to fight until their was only 5 peace’s left (each) on the board, and about 50 moves in. Finally the Hard app won. So please don’t tell me that’s Normal. Grey looking app, but the developers need a serious rethink on the levels upgrade..Version: 1.23

✓ If looks could kill…Fabulously rendered! Unfortunately, that's it for positives. There appears to be no option to play as black against the computer and the game play is very weak. Even on the strongest setting, it is barely at an intermediate level. And if there is a time control, I've not discovered it. And just for fun, I tried to resign but found no way of doing so! Put simply, it lacks some basic functionality. I don't care for the cartoon graphics: they're rather cheap looking and completely alien to the otherwise very high quality appearance. And of course, the adverts are - as ever - an irritation. I suppose one should be grateful they do not occur during game-play but the chess engine is nowhere near strong enough. Having read other reviews, I see I am out of step with most in criticising its strength; but for me, this only has novelty value for its classy looks..Version: 1.23

✓ UnpracticalThe AI not a good reference to a real chess game in real life as it knows every move. I had to bump the levels down a few times to beat it consistently. It makes no mistakes so you have to defend your pieces while taking the the AI’s pieces. Two player is as expected pretty good. One complaint is that on a phone (even my iPhone 7-8 plus) it is quite hard to tap the pieces to move them and I used to struggle to tap them but after a few games I got used to it..Version: 1.0
✓ Unrealistic and the CPU cheats90% of the time when it gets near the end of the game and i’m about to win, the CPU will just keep moving the same piece back and forth a few times and then declare a draw. there’s no point in me playing and getting close to winning if it’s just gonna declare a draw every single time just because it knows it’s gonna lose. highly unrealistic because every time the king is the last piece and has no legal moves then it just calls a tie. in real life we play until someone actually wins..Version: 1.27

✓ Great App.. BUTIt’s a really good app which I’ve enjoyed playing in the last week. However, for those of us with an iPhone 12 it is extremely difficult to close this app without actually having a home button! On one occasion I had to actually switch my phone off and on again just to close the app. Even when you do manage to close it it’s sometimes leaves the rotation of the entire screen in landscape mode. The other thing I dislike is when playing CPU it stalemates even if you still have most of your pieces on the board, you end up just chasing them Queen around. Please make the app easier to close for those people with no buttons on their phone and please fix the indefinite stalemate situation and I will immediately come back for a five star review!! ✅.Version: 1.24

✓ No option to play Black???I haven’t been able to find an option to play Black. Please advise how to do this. If the app is unable to allow choice of side to play, then this is a SERIOUS design flaw, and please correct it. I would give 1 star rating if this is true, but since idk for a fact that it is (for now), I’ll give it 3 stars just based on the outstanding graphics. I’m playing against the CPU exclusively just for practice games, and would give it 4 or 5 stars otherwise. Being able to play the Black side against the CPU is ESSENTIAL for balanced development. ✓ Harsh when moving up a level.I enjoy playing the game but in easy mode, it’s just too easy, as the computer player just gives pieces up for no reason. When I switch to the next difficulty level up though, the computer player is much too difficult and I end up losing every game. ✓ Nice game but difficulty on Normal is out to lunchI just started playing Chess and this app is a very good way to learn without being overwhelmed. It shows you the legal moves you have and allows you to backtrack if you had a brain fart. The difference between Easy and Normal is huge...Easy is really super easy, while one step up to Normal is absolutely brutal. Being a novice player, I'm trying to build my skills, not get relentlessly and mercilessly slaughtered. The way it is now is Easy is like the bunny hill at a ski lodge. Normal is like going from the bunny hill to a double black diamond run with moguls. Either tune down Normal, or add another skill level (or two) between Normal and Easy. Paying the fee to avoid the ads is well worth it as well....Version: 1.25

The AI will not finish games promptly meaning that you often have to move aimlessly around the board while the AI ignores simple mates to upgrade every pawn on the board. ✓ Game needs improvementI have had this app for awhile now and have noticed that the game will not allow you to make legal moves such as En Passant, or allowing a King that is not in threat of being in check to capture lesser pieces such as Pawns,Knights,etc. that would allow you to advance to win when playing at levels above “easy” mode. The graphics are very good I do enjoy the boards zoom feature a rotational viewing angles. But the developers really need to fix the issues stated above when playing in the User vs CPU mode. It is very frustrating to know you have beaten the CPU but have it taken away to give the CPU an easy victory..Version: 1.24

✓ The reviews are lies, the game is terribleHORRIBLE balance. Everyone thinks normal is hard, but it’s actually just extremely cheap. Whenever you actually get the CPU into a difficult position, instead of playing out the board it just moves the same piece over and over again until you make a decision that allows it to not lose a piece or play out it’s exact plan. This either means you MUST make a move that harms you, or just force a draw by repeating the same piece too. Awful chess game. Truly terrible. ✓ SatisfyingI’m not the worst chess player in the world but hadn’t played it in years, however I have not won once on Normal difficulty, the best I can get is stalemate. The CPU seems to use advanced moves and theories to combat every move you make, which you expect at the higher levels. I haven’t seen it make a mistake once. If you do manage to get an advantage, it does things like move a rook back and forth to avoid moving forward or falling into any traps. In Easy mode the CPU makes such obvious errors that it’s too easy. So like others have said, the leap from Easy to Normal is huge which just ends up being demotivating and boring rather than challenging. For a free app though this is a good time passer, the ads are not bad like in some other free apps, and will be much more fun than candy crush when on train journeys!.Version: 1.23

✓ Needs a few tweaks to be goodI enjoy this game, but there are two frustrating characteristics: first, there needs to be another level between easy and normal. I win nearly every game on the easy level but can’t win at all on normal. Second, the game comes without screen rotation, and it’s default position is not what I prefer. It forces me to have the home button (iPad) on my right, and I prefer it on my left but cannot change it. All else is good. Edit: I lowered my rating to 1 star because of the difference of skill level between easy and normal. As a novice I can beat the computer every time on easy and never on normal. ✓ Rigged.With any difficulty above easy, it’s near-on to win, as you can often find yourself in a loop, making a move, for the cpu to make a move in return and go check, then your only move is to go back but then they just go back to check and the cycle starts again. They need to overhaul this difficulty system as it doesn’t work. The cpu knows every single way to stop you from winning, and will not concede when caught in a loop, so it’s basically impossible to win in normal and above difficulty. ✓ Difficult adjustmentThe aesthetic of the game is incredibly pleasing but unfortunately the leap between easy and normal difficultly level seems to be too overwhelming. ✓ Cant play normal chess on 2 player settingNot sure what im missing but can’t find a setting to stop computer from helping in the 2 player setting. It always tells your opponent when you are about to capture their king and it won’t even let the opponent make the mistake of not moving king out of the way. It only allows opponent to move into a safe spot away from being captured so no one ever wins. It ends up going in circles until the game finally ends in a draw. We just want to play a normal game of chess with no help and if some one makes a mistake the other person can actually win..Version: 1.22
✓ AdsI was really enjoying this chess game and would have given a good review. But the more I played, the more ads came up. OK. Then up came an ad in Spanish that I can't get to go away even after letting the ad video run. So I don't get it. You only get to play so many games and then you hit a brick wall with an non-removable video ad?? Why drive your customers away?? So disappointing. Came back and tried again. ✓ Not a good productThere are many much better free chess apps you can download that are 10x better. Why this one got many positive feedbacks is suspicious. I thoroughly inspected and played this chess app and I suspect the high reviews could be fake. That’s because there are some very serious issues with the app that it’s difficult anyone could seriously like this. You have no options to select the presentation style. No colors choices for either the pieces or the board. No option to play a standard 2d view. Only 4 very basic difficulty options. Since the app uses one of the freely available engines there should at least be options like depth, or think time. Just bare bones. Jarring music but no sound for movement of pieces. You can only adjust the sound volume. If you turn it all the way down, you have no sound at all. Only a few very bad smiling portrait options. No way to upload your own image or to use game center pic..Version: 1.27

✓ Not great for a beginner.Camera angle is frustrating to work with. Either zoomed too far out so the board is small or zoomed in just enough to cut off the top row of the board, no happy medium. As a beginner I find the 4 difficultly settings poor. The easy setting is exactly that and almost insulting, next up is “normal” where the game takes no prisoners! ✓ Cant actually play the game!Love the 3D game of chess, but now whenever I try to start a match, a solitaire ad opens and doesn't end! Its makes me play a game of solitaire until a “get the app” notification opens and there is not a way to exit that screen nor get past that screen. Usually there is a little x in the corner or something but not with this one. Ill even press “get the app”, it then brings me to the app in the app store, then I close everything and go back to the chess app, and I still cant get past the “get the app” solitaire ad to begin the game if chess. I understand ads, and don't have a problem watching a couple ads to make the app free. But cmon, this issue makes the best chess game in the app store turn into the most useless app meant to waste time that I've come across yet. Unfortunately with it not being fixed, my kids and myself will have to find a different companies chess game to play. ✓ The A.I difficulty setting needs changingEasy is extremely easy as you bait them to take a piece or they randomly attack a piece which is protected. Normal however, is extremely hard, I changed the settings to Hard to compare the differences and I can say there’s no differences at all. The A.I. knows every opening and predicts every move or futures steps that you do. I like a challenge but I can’t play against something that’s impossible to win against. I had 1 match which lasted for 3 hours and I could not progress any further, like I said the A.I. knows everything and they’ll force you to clutter so you can’t develop..Version: 1.23
