Deliciously Ella: Feel Better for Negative User Reviews

Good but way way too many submenusI love the app before the more recent upgrades. It is super frustrating to navigate around. I want to get to the shopping cart when I’m out and I have to go through so many specific submenus. While I appreciate the developers attempts to track more mindful living. I mainly use it for the recipes and shopping list. Back when it was Deliciously Ella (rather than Feel Better) the options for food or mindfulness or yoga stuff was much more separated - and thus easier to navigate. It gets 2 stars as it’s ok. It has high quality content but the whole interface is much too compact and mired in submenus. I hope developers change this, else I’ll be canceling my subscription and moving to a more user friendly app that allows me to customize the app to what I use it for, rather than forcing me to navigate through menus to get away from the parts I don’t use as much..Version: 3.0.1

Room for improvementThis is a good app with quality content. I downloaded this app for the recipes, I feel like that’s the reason a lot of people have/will download this app for. But, there is no nutritional info. I feel like that’s a must with recipes nowadays? Another thing that is kind of annoying is that you can’t change the serving size. Which is especially awkward when it’s a dish that serves 3? I don’t know, maybe I’m nitpicking. But it’s an easy feature to include so I don’t see why it’s been left out? Thirdly, and this is just nitpicking, when you load the app, it mutes any other audio on your device. So, if you’re in a shop listening to a podcast/book/music or whatever you treat your ears to while you’re out and about and you load the app to check the ingredients in your shopping list, it will just mute whatever you were listening to. The app doesn’t even have audio so I don’t see the reason for this happening? HAVING SAID ALL THAT THOUGH. It is a good app with lots of quality recipes. When I say lots, I mean lots! There’s plenty to choose from which is great because most vegan recipe apps only have about 10 dishes so I like the variety in this. Just needs to fix and add a few features and it’ll be great! Keep up the good work guys!.Version: 1.0.2

Interface needs workHi, I can’t seem to find all the recipes I’ve hearted. Or the ones I’ve added to a ‘meal plan’- where do I access the meal plans I create? It’s not intuitive and quite frustrating. Please help.Version: 3.3.1

Wonky appLove the idea of vegan recipes but I’m sad that some other features have been added to the app (e.g. workouts, that I don’t use as I already have a subscription for a different website that I adore), making it significantly more expensive. I tried some of the yoga classes and I wasn’t a fan and I detest the fact that there’s a random thumbnail for each video and I found that that particular asana is never actually part of the practice. As for the recipes, when I click on show all it only shows about 20 and then it stops and there’s no more. The app and especially the website is quite slow. Another thing I hate is when I start cooking a recipe and go to the ingredients list, then don’t look at my phone for some time and when I go back, the app jumps back to all recipes and I have to look up the one I’m cooking over and over again. Overall it’s also very easy to click somewhere or swipe accidentally so I’m not where I want to be, needing a few more clicks to go back where I was before. Some recipes are great, others turn out to be a disaster. I like Ella a lot and what they stand up for as a team but I must say that overall I’m not impressed, especially considering the price..Version: 5.2.1

What happened with to the old app?I had this app for years , but now something happened and all my favourites are gone. The things don’t work the same way. Everything gets stuck and it’s not user friendly. Is it the same for everyone else? I love the recipes but the new update or whatever happened is horrible..Version: 3.0.4

Horrible UI/UXFor one, what is the paid subscription... only 99 cents but still, there was no indication when downloading the app. Then you do the month free trial and actually are able to see the app and it’s all over the place. You can tell this is someone’s passion project because they clearly didn’t hire a designer. The user experience is horrible and the how to get around the app page is wordy and confusing. The user experience and user interface of this app create something that is hard to use, hard to read because of the unnecessary details in the background, and makes you want to go back to google (which is free) immediately. Invest the monthly subscription back into the app and do yourself some good and hire a ux/ui designer..Version: 1.1.3

Great app but wish it had chromecastGreat design and content but I really wish i was able to cast the yoga videos. My phone is too small to see so I’ll have to cancel the subscription as it’s not much use without being able to cast the vids to my television. Hope you can get this added!.Version: 1.0.2

Yoga no longer works after yearly subscriptionI’ve been in touch with the DE team regarding this and have had some replies with suggestions to make the yoga videos work again, but replies have been slow and nothing has worked so far. It worked fine before I signed up for the yearly subscription and now they just have a loading spinning circle on all the videos and will not play. I’ve tried being in Wi-Fi and not, tried deleting and reinstalling to no avail. Very disappointing as the yoga was one of the main reasons I subscribed to the app in the first place.Version: 1.1.3

No way to try the app without logging inI started the application and was presented with the option to login or to start a free one week subscription. I don’t see the need for me to log in to check out what an application does. Is this just so I can be tracked what I do or is there a community? If there’s a community then I don’t need to log in right away, only when I want to participate. I just want to have a look around at the application, see what the interface was like, and what was included. Then I’d decide if I want to hand over my personal information for a log in or a subscription (which doesn’t really need my information as Apple handles all the details). But I’m just going to delete the app if you don’t give me a way to try it first..Version: 1.0.5

Recipes are good but be aware…… they are not a quick read for North Americans. Everything is in metric and the names of ingredients are not the same; there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just simply not geared to a North American user. So I spend more time looking up things (i.e. “passata” is puréed tomatoes, or “beluga lentils” are black lentils). Also, you have to convert all the measurements, and temperatures. So it’s not quick to read or follow. However, the few recipes I did take the time to make were good and we did enjoy them, so if you have the time to look things up and convert measurements/temperatures, then I think you will like the recipes..Version: 5.0.5

Looks like it could be good but no way to see without subscribingI downloaded the app and looked around to see if it would be something I want to subscribe to. Unfortunately, I can’t open any recipes and the only thing it’ll do is connect to Health app. Hardly useful to me. There should be a freemium version to try. Trial periods to subscriptions are never long enough to fully experience and decide whether the app is for you. I end up unsubscribing before being able to give apps with trial periods a good enough try. So just deleting this one, sadly. It could have been useful but I’ll never know..Version: 3.3.7

Will be amazing after ironing out detailsI really love the idea of this app and the concept of incorporating yoga with the healthy recipes. I was a bit hesitant about paying for an app monthly but decided to give it a go with the free week. I had a craving for spring rolls and the fresh summer rolls looked amazing! I added the ingredients to my shopping list, but found out that all of the ingredients needed weren’t listed on the ingredients page and therefore didn’t get transferred to my shopping list. On of the big draws for me was getting my meal planning done in one spot with the shopping list all set to go. This seems like a problem with quite a few recipes so I’ll cancel after the free week and check back in after a few months. I have high hopes for this app!.Version: 1.0

Unsubscribed because of new featuresI always loved this app for the recipes but with the new update to track your eating and exercise, this has become more of a diet and weight-loss tool, not so much about overall health and wellness anymore..Version: 2.0.5

Already in perfect health? This app is for YOU!Asked app support where to find nutrition info for each recipe? They responded with a long diatribe about “calorie counting” (which i never asked about) + they don’t include info on nutrition info to “protect” people who might be triggered by it (a bit odd, since every package in a grocery store has a nutrition label…) Sadly, this philosophy turns a blind eye to folks who actually need nutrition info for medical reasons (eg, my husband is newly diagnosed with diabetes and high cholesterol = we need precise info on fat, sugar, etc). Withholding nutritional information **disempowers users from making choices critical to their unique health challenges**, and thwarts attempts by users to (irony alert) “feel better.” Treat your users like adults, please!.Version: 5.2.6

Really needs better imperial conversionI like this app a lot but one thing drives me crazy: the metric to imperial (US) conversion is only partially done. I have the settings toggled on to be in imperial units but most recipes will still list at least one ingredient in grams (ex: the Tahini Slices recipe has both the tahini and peanut butter amounts in grams). This makes it time consuming and inconvenient to have to stop and google the amount in T or cups. I really like Ella and her message and recipes and yoga but honestly this is becoming a deal breaker. Please, please do a recipe audit and correct these errors 🙏🏼.Version: 1.2

IPad needs version workThey need to add good multitasking support so I can order groceries with my shopping list open. I want to be able to rearrange the items in a day so I can see them in the order I will consume them. It’s a good app though I want to see a recipe request area..Version: 2.5.3

Needs better User InterfaceRecipes are delicious and versatile but for the £0.99 a month fee the user interface needs to be updated in order to allow us to use it freely in a rush! It’s very clunky and very difficult to navigate. Our favourite recipes should be more accessible with the possible use of a system where we can put our favourites in different folders; such as quick meals and long meals. Worth the download and free trial but the user interface NEEDS to update in order to please customers! We are in a rush most of the time! We need quick easy app we can use without thinking too hard about how to reach one area of the app to the next!.Version: 1.1.1

States free trail but charged instantly?!States that you get a 7 day free trial but i was charged instantly for a 3 month subscription! Not impressed..Version: 3.2.2

Fix the music issue!!Amazing app. Love everything that the Deliciously Ella team create. BUT! Why does it stop my music playing when I use the app? I can’t look at the recipe and listen to music which is just sooo annoying! Please fix it guys!!.Version: 1.0.4

Love the content but so glitchy/slowI love all the recipes but the app itself is so slow and glitchy that I’m really not using it as much as I’d like. I hope you fix it 🤞.Version: 5.3.0

Recipes are lackingLet me start by saying we’ve purchased a subscription. We’ve made about 13 recipes from this app now and of those only one or two were easy to follow . The recipes were the whole reason we purchased a subscription in the first place. However they are not clear enough to replicate the dish accurately. Sometime ingredients list doesn’t agree with the steps, it’s missing ingredients or changes the type of ingredient. Overall my wife and I are pretty dissatisfied, and would prefer a refund. I definitely will not continue the with the subscription..Version: 3.3.2

Trial period is not real. Got charged next dayI got charged , despite canceling in the first two minutes ( meditation voices are not conducive to relaxation and odd accents and strident background music and poorly thought scripts. Better on youtube. There's a rating scam because this is a very sub mediocre app , that is pushing products. Being charged basically after I cancelled the trial after minutes of realizing it's not up to par is unacceptable. can be verified in logs. The strangest part is that on Apple Subscriptions there is no cancel option? It's a first time I notice it..Version: 5.2.4

Recipes great but app is VERY unreliableThe pros Ella’s recipes have been feeding my family most nights for over a year. They are mostly amazing, easy to put together and the ingredients are always easy to find and get re-used (unlike Jamie Oliver etc.) The cons The app has recently become very unreliable and their app team is not helpful at all. Following their app teams advice I have lost all of my favourite recipes. And often I can’t even access the recipes because a pop up advertisement is blocking my access. So if you want to use it, I recommend having a back up meal or 3 for over the weekend as the app team doesn’t work over the weekend..Version: 3.2.7

No substance behind the asceticsI’m quite disappointed with the app. There is no real substance behind it. Improvements could be made to 1) recipes - building out the “method” a little more so users understand what their meal should look like at each step. One way to do this would be to add videos or pictures. And jsit adding a bit more personality behind the instructions. After all you are capitalising on the Ella brand; however their is no character here. There are many FREE blogs with recipes that provide more thoughtful recipes than this. I would suggest you all check out Alison Roman, NYT Cooking, Smitten Kitchen, and holy cow vegan 2) introduce a community aspect - there are no options for users to comment on recipes, workouts, etc. What if my child is allergic to aubergine and I would like to substitute it with another ingredient. Being able to search comments for other users who had similar issues, would be so helpful 3) Ux - a bit disappointing that this mimics Apple Watch..I will use my Apple Watch instead since there’s more functionality there Great ideas on the app but I do hope there are many improvements to come, especially given the pricing..Version: 3.0.2

Accessible only for white middle-upper classY’all claim accessibility is important to you guys, yet this isn’t a free app? I’ve been a follower of deliciously ella for 5 years now. I’ve seen the followers increase, meaning big money being made, on top of the fact y’all were well off to start with. I was so excited about the app until I realized y’all are just another money maker. All of your guests are white, too. Very disappointed and frankly disgusted by this brand.Version: 3.1.2
