Fitness AI Gym Workout Planner for Negative User Reviews

Has potential but not greatI’ve used this app for a few weeks to give it the best chance possible. Honestly all it’s good for is giving you some exercises, the weight is an ok guide but not great, the rep ranges are WILD. This app has me (a beginner at almost 300lbs) doing 20 rep sets of weighted squats. That’s nuts. It thinks I can do 16 rep sets of 40+kg pullovers, again having indicated no prior lifting experience. It’s not worth logging your sets in here, because it doesn’t consider the best order for exercises. It will have you do 2 chest exercises back to back then 2 tricep exercises back to back (for example) with no extended rest between. After a couple of weeks I wanted to see if it would adjust, and it did. I’m logging some sets at 10-14 reps (to failure) when it suggests 20, and after 10 workouts it’s adjusted down to now suggesting 19. This app NEEDS an onboarding flow that sets baselines for fitness and strength instead of guessing, especially if it only does micro adjustments over weeks at a time. I’ll continue using it because I’ve paid for it, but if a competitor hits me with a well timed ad I’d switch for sure..Version: 8.12.0

Asks you to subscribe without showing you muchRight off the bat the app asked for my phone number which is undesirable but could look past if it was a good app. The app basically gives you the day one of your routine for free but it does so without ever asking for your fitness goals which is a sure way to set yourself up for a disappointment. You can’t see the rest of your routine without subscribing for the trial which people are hesitant to do due to automatic bill at the end of the week. You can find free proven workout routines based on your fitness goals for free online. What I would like to see in an app like this would be a routine based off of your goals individualised to your body (posture problems, injuries etc), otherwise anybody can find a much better workout routine for free online this app doesn’t offer anything new - just gives you a routine without asking for your fitness goals..Version: 2.4

DO NUT BUYApp has not been seriously updated in over a year and a half. Bugs crash app all the time. Lots of basic exercises are missing. Not worth the price for the subscription at all, especially compared with competition. UPDATE: Developer has responded to me claiming there has been updates, which is a complete LIE. Sure maybe they have pushed out an update here and there, but that would be the end of the story, as in the updates must’ve not had any substance since there is nothing that I, the end user have noticed changed in the last year and a half. At that point, you are putting out the smallest of updates to make it seem actively updated, when a lot of the major issues that this app has had for the last year and half have not been addressed. You should focus on this app more instead of trying to expand your marketing business selling “door-in-the-face” techniques to other apps, that’s no cap! And as far as your thank you, I decline, you thanked me for my feedback half a year ago and none of that feedback has been implemented to this day..Version: 8.12.0

Nice Workout AppI’ve been using this app for quite some time and love it! I would recommend that the ability to add exercises that aren’t already programmed in the app be available. I would also like to be able to add/delete equipment for the gym that I attend. For some of the exercises that my workouts program for me, my gym either doesn’t have the equipment for the exercise, or some equipment my gym has, the app doesn’t have the equipment programmed in..Version: 8.12.4

PaymentI used this app during the pandemic and it was great. I would love to come back to this app, but I do not want to pay for a full year. Please consider having monthly payments.Version: 8.12.1

Good app but has its faults. This app has it’s good and bad points. Good:A) A good range of exercises. B) Clear guide on how to do them correctly. C) After 4 workouts it customises your workouts to what you’ve already lifted. Bad: A) I do my workouts at home and there is no option for alternative exercises (e.g lat push downs). Instead the app tells you to not to do them! B) No warm up or cool down exercises suggested. C) No initial ‘free’ period offered like a lot of apps. D) Too expensive. £3.99 a week is too much and is the main reason why I’m cancelling my membership. Iron out the account flaws and I might think again..Version: 4.1

Poor customer serviceDo not buy this. I made mistake and purchased for one year. Only 4 weeks ago. But Corona virus came , gyms all closed. I can’t use the app the way I intended. I contacted Andrew on the app chat. He couldn’t give me an extension on the weeks that I’m missing out on because of Corona virus. He couldn’t give a refund either. This is the worst customer service I’ve came across in years. It’s so bad it’s pathetic. Even mortgages are giving people a break. This is absolutely disgusting and I will be tweeting it and Facebooking it..Version: 4.5

SCAMI used this app for a while, and it did work. I had to cancel due to corona. When i went to resubscribe i was immediately charged a monthly payment, and was given nothing in return! If you want to lose money for no reason, subscribe to this app. I would not recommend at all..Version: 4.5

I uninstalled because of spam notificationsThe app itself is really nice — easy to use, descriptions of the moves and animations, it’s very well laid out. However if you end your subscription or trial, they will send notifications every few hours to try to “encourage” using the app, however this is extremely annoying. I was on a 5-day holiday and the notifications got so annoying that I simply uninstalled the app. I prefer keeping track of my own workout schedule rather than receiving tons of alerts if I skip 2 days of exercise. Stop doing this, FitnessAI. You are annoying..Version: 4.4

Nice UI, slick animations, but let down where it countsThe app looks and feels great, no denying that. It’s great that it lets you specify what equipment you have, including most importantly specifically which weights of dumbbell you own. Unfortunately it is let down in a few key areas. A minor one is it asks you what exercises you like and don’t like when you first sign up, but then doesn’t seem to listen as the generated workout uses the exercises I said I didn’t like. The biggest let down, and in the end deal breaker, for me is that the apple health sync functionality it poor, I still have not been able to get it to sync even one workout..Version: 8.5.0

Good app but should include lower body weightSkinny guys do exist the lowest weight you can put is 36kg and well I way quite a bit less then that so this isn’t going to be very accurate for me.Version: 8.12.4

Fraud AppWithout doing any transaction got charged twice and who knows how many more….very bad experience. Not worth 1 start also. All transaction they took 4-5$ as canadian dollars even though not doing any transaction..Version: 8.12.4

Not as custom as advertisedI love the idea of the app. I pay for it, but I’ll most likely stop eventually. It’s nice because it has many exercises, and great demonstrations on how to do them and what body part/muscle they target. The reason I pay for the app though is it is supposed to pick workouts for me. I enter what I want to train for the day, it surprises me with the workout of the day. However, you can only choose certain muscle groups together. For example, if I want to train chest and shoulders together, it won’t randomize a workout for those two together. It defaults back to chest and triceps. You cannot customize the body parts and get a workout in return. If you want a workout of the day chosen for you, you must follow the body parts they have selected. You can search body parts and put your own workout together, but that’s not really worth $4 a week. You can use google and put together your own exercises. The display is awesome, but I’ll give it 3 stars until they fix it and I can actually choose my own body parts..Version: 5.1

Too expensiveThere’s not a rolling update worth of $120 per year. It just divides a week into bicep, tricep, leg days, and comes up with some pretty routine workouts. You can download a iMuscle and get much more variations of workout for a small fixed price. AI is just a gimmick and there’s nothing smart this app can do..Version: 5.6

Update please! This is a good app but needs an update everytime you hit the lkg button it jumps to the nx routine. Never use to do this. Please update this glitch..Version: 8.12.2

Nicely designed but not for serious gym goersI’m looking for a well thought out gym app and I’m happy to pay for one but I find this app lacks substance. I completed my first work out yesterday and it wanted me to complete back and triceps’s in 40 minutes with five different exercises. In my opinion there should be more more then five exercises within each work out; in fact I went off grid and added my own back exercises as the ones suggested didn’t hit all the muscles of my back. Also the suggested weights at the start are ridiculous. Lat bar pull down suggested 25kg. I was able to start with 50kg. The app could work around this by asking users for more details when they sign up to gauge their level of fitness. They also need to offer an additional 50 minute work out (who works out for 20 minutes?) I’m also curious as to how many different exercises are stored in their library and how much variation you get. On the plus side the app is well laid out and easy to use but I’m not prepared to wait two weeks to see if it’s suitable for my needs..Version: 2.4

My Rating and Review of FitnessAII saw an ad for fitness ai on TikTok and on the ad it was made to look free so I downloaded it. However when I opened it and did a workout I wasn’t even able log my sets because that is a paid function. Although, I have to admit it was very impressive that they have an animated guy doing the exercises being done, and below that there is a simple to understand instruction list telling you how to set up and the correct form you should be doing. For these reasons I am rating it 3 stars, because you can clearly see a lot of effort has been put into the app, but I don’t have a good enough understanding of the app to know if it’s worth it to spend money as they don’t give you much to go off of..Version: 8.12.6

WARNING - Credit card charge!I started a free trial and cancelled in my Subscriptions area of my Apple ID. But nevertheless I received a charge from this developer on my credit card! They have now refunded this. Do stay vigilant though..Version: 8.7.2

This app sucksFirst i start a subscription and it wont even let me go past the introduction. Every time when i’m trying to do the beginning steps it kicks me out of the app I cant do anything..Version: 8.9.1

Tech support failsI first encountered Jake to another app developed through the same company called Fitness Tracker Customer support and an app support has completely fallen off and the only way to contact Jake is through the Twitter account which he keeps referring you somewhere else I wanted to discontinue that app before starting this one to make sure that my annual fee was no longer coming out That was a brick wall so I went ahead and waited until Sunday so that I could start my seven day trial with plenty of time to play with the app I was sent an email to purchase it at a discounted annual rate unfortunately the email would not link to the app and I could never open it can’t tell you the countless emails back-and-forth with customer support it was like I was talking to a brick wall not understanding the issue couldn’t even open the app Unfortunately I was never even able to download or open the app to give it a try which I was really looking forward to I’m so disappointed I literally spent hours trying to communicate with him and Dominic at Fitness AI support what a waste of my time.Version: 8.5.0

Difficult to useIt asked for my weight in pounds and height in feet and inches so I entered them. Once I look at my first suggested workout I see it wants me to bench press nearly twice my body weight. That’s not right! Go to look at my profile, I see it’s converted 174 pounds into 178 kg and 5’6 into 67cm. Helpful. I correct them, hoping I’ll get a suggested workout I’ll actually be able to complete, but no, it stays the same and I have to go through each exercise and pick the right weight… which really begs the question… why use the app at all?! I also tried to install the app on my Apple Watch but no… not enough room, despite the fact I have pretty much nothing installed in my Apple Watch anyway. So, 10 minutes of wondering why I bothered and app uninstalled and subscription cancelled..Version: 8.0

New version is slowCan you please make the new design faster or give option to use the old one? Loading time is ridiculous sometimes. Also I’d like my workout to still stay the same whenever I go to gym. It changes all the time and setting up exercises with accurate weights takes ages every time.Version: 8.11.0

Nice, but sadly limited. (But fixable, I think/hope)First of all, I’ve been using this app (5 or 6 times per week for about 2 months) and I find enjoyment from it. I like being surprised with new exercises for the day when I arrive at the gym. It’s almost like meeting with a personal trainer. However, my problem with this app is it’s limited number of exercise machines, etc. My gym has many different machines than this app has in it’s selection section. Since I’ve been visiting my gym for a couple of years I feel like FitnessAI is forcing me to retire some of the machines that, in the past, I’ve been extremely happy with. Now, I know it would be unreasonable for me to expect FitnessAI to list every exercise machine ever invented (especially with animations of how to preform the exercises). But, I’m sad there isn’t a blank template for the user to add his/her gym’s own machines and/or equipment (I really like my Gorila Bar when I workout from home). This app would definitely deserve five stars if this significant shortcoming were addressed in a future update..Version: 6.8

Great app BUTIt’s a great App for gym and workout and I personally really like it, however it’s very limited and I wish there was more workout variation on there , sure it increases in difficulty but the workouts are always the same and there aren’t anymore available. Have to google and find workouts e.g. shoulders workout to include separately after my workout with this app, for what I am paying monthly, there should be more and different intense workouts, especially for women that are trying to lose weight with weight training But I really like it. Let’s be organised with my workouts and ables me to improve on myself and build my strength. Only wish is for there to be more workouts than there is for each part of the body. Why aren’t there lunges for legs!!!😭.Version: 3.0

Why Phone number? MarketingThe idea of the app is great! I don’t see why you need phone numbers? So by collecting your name age and phone number they have a basic profile about who you are and sale it to marketing. Also if it’s a free trial all options should be open not just for one workout. if I don’t have a good idea of what my full body workout is like I wouldn’t wanna pay for something that I might not like or might not suits me. Because of that only ones star ⭐️ from me am afraid..Version: 2.4

Different in a bad wayThe workouts seem segmented. When I’m at the gym it is part of a session. In the app it just feels broken up between two groups of muscles and cardio. I’m not sure why you wouldn’t put them all together since that’s what I am doing at the gym. When you’re on the cardio timer you can’t use anything else in the app. Sometimes I like to use that time to see what I’m going to do for the next hour. There are a lot of workouts missing compared to other apps. And the google/YouTube search for more info on existing workouts never really produces the right results. I’m not sure of what AI is in place here. It always seems like a formula like this: If you met the goal reps last time, they will increase difficulty. If you didn’t, the app will keep it the same or lower slightly. I was using FitBod for a year and might go back. This is much slower to change a workout or substitute something. Especially when I have to keep adding workouts that are missing. A gym session doesn’t feel cohesive. There isn’t an option to do a circuit training..Version: 4.1

Decent appIt’s ok not bad but could use some improvement for such an expensive subscription. I wouldn’t use it if it hadn’t automatically charged me so be careful when downloading it.Version: 4.5

ReviewSystem is great if your American. The weights are only in KG which is really frustrating takes me away from the workout to do the conversions. Dumb.Version: 2.4

So many better options for less or freeThis is truly a basic linear tracker for a very limited program. It lacks what FitBod and Volt (for example) have in their apps: No ability for app to build program based on your goals. This has really just one option. Volt has sport specific programs using periodization for example. No ability to select equipment you have access to. It assumes full gym. This is really terrible. This app is so far behind on this part. At Home shouldn’t just be body weight. In FitBod they have over 50 pieces of gear you can select. If you’re paying for an app and you can’t select equipment, you’re getting poor value. I got the free trial then cancelled. I tried it again and somehow it charged me for the year. That’s annoying for sure but what’s worse is I paid 50% less for FitBod for an app that is 100% better. Buyer beware. This is a simplistic app worth $4.99 one time as it lags it’s competitors in every way..Version: 4.5

Way overpricedFairly basic app, same as many out there. Yet, you are charging $150 a year for this? There are lifetime app unlocks for apps such as Strong and Hevy that offer the same. One year vs permanent? I think you are over reaching on this one.Version: 8.5.0

$100 a year for an appPaying $100 for an app is expensive already.. but they want you to keep paying every year . They even removed a few exercises I was using and there were a few bugs. I’m buying stronglifts instead for 100 and no subscription: It’s a good app though..Version: 8.12.6

Needs improvementI have been using this app for several month. The technology is great, but compared competitors, there still needs to be improvement. Pros: I like the display and theme of the app. I think it’s professional and like the animated person showing how to do the exercise. I also like the written directions and tips for improvement area. I think the app does a good job and progressing weight and explaining why to lower or increase weight/reps. I also like the easy option to find alternative exercises. I like the chat feature and they response pretty quickly. Cons: There needs to be more exercises add. There are lot of basic exercises missing. For example, Russian twists and dumbbell Bulgarian split squats. It would be nice to have a customizing option to make up for unique exercises or equipment gyms have. One thing that I thought was interesting was the their is no glute muscle group option. I did reach out on the chat and my response was that “all leg and lower body exercises workout your glutes.” While this is true, people want to do a glute focused workouts. Additionally, other competitors have options where you can pick accessory muscle groups to workout such as calves, neck, abductors, etc. Also, the ability to add warm ups and cool downs is frequent feature I’ve seen..Version: 8.0

Great for beginners. Ok for advanced liftersReally good for beginners if you struggle figuring it what’s to do. Algothrim works really well when you stick to the plan. Downsides as an advanced lifter I would like to follow a different routine to what’s prescribed. Been told multiple times the algorithm won’t work with any modifications . This would be ok if the exercises weren’t so basic. Eg dumbbell flys. Really bad exercise. No cable moves. And it’s the same moves in ever 2 cycles. Needs way more exercises, algorithm needs updating so it can handle different moves and need to be able to set our own routine..Version: 3.0

UnsatisfactoryThe app does not work without a subscription. It allows 1 week “trial” period, but the “AI” functionality needs at least 8 workouts to engage. Furthermore, the app currently offers a special *weekly* price for the *annual* subscription, but does not immediate tell what will be the overall cost for the whole year. Feels almost like scam. The UI is not exceptionally convenient. I had started a workout, completed a few exercises and occasionally slides down the panel. The workout automatically completed, and there’s no obvious way to restart it or amend the results. The UI also seems to assume that I do exercise one after another, while I prefer to do sets in rounds..Version: 2.4

UnfairThere charging way to much there making millions off of the app when they would still make a lot of money If they dropped the price they are just here for the money.Version: 8.10.0

Just okayI appreciate the concept and UI but this app is for beginners. For one, the exercise library is very limited, a lot of simple exercises aren’t a part of the program ( how does it not have incline barbell press??). I personally don’t think that incrementally increasing the weight on a limited number of weekly exercises is enough in the long term, your muscles need variety! The most frustrating thing about this app besides its limited exercises is the rep range limits it places on workouts. Say for instance the AI says you should do 8 reps at a certain weight but you’re able to push out 10—you’re not able to log anything past 8, so the AI doesn’t register that and won’t adjust the weight properly, instead you have to find a heavier weight until you fail at 8, that’s kind of stupid don’t you think? I also wish it sent you weekly recaps of your progress like the Bodybuilding app because that’s very motivating and the app already has all this data so why not do something useful with it? Hope the developers read this because I like this app and want it to improve!.Version: 4.1

Great app but a few flawsSo I really like this app. I have been using it for 6 months and made a lot of progress. However, since the release of the beta version there have been a few flaws. The beta version doesn’t seem to save your workout exercises and also it mixes up your routine versus the normal version. The normal version had the same routine that you set up each day. The beta version for me skips back and biceps. I have to go in and edit the routine AND exercises just to get my normal routine back. Then it goes into learning instead of increasing your reps or weight based on previous workouts. Another flaw is the help option on this app. There seems to be only 3 people you can message on the help tab when you have an issue. I have waited over 2 weeks for a reply from ANY other those 3 people. If you have an app with this many users, you should expand your help and support section, read your messages more, and reply in a timely manner..Version: 4.95

Great potential but very frustratingI’ve been using this app for 3 workouts now, and every time I was not even able to complete a workout as the app marks your workout as complete simply by (accidentally) swiping left. No pop up asking you if you’d like to end the workout, and no possibility of getting back to the workout you were just doing. What an incredibly silly thing to overlook... won’t consider paying until this is fixed. 👎.Version: 3.1

Just okayThis is the first time I’ve bought a gym app. My honest opinion is that the app is buggy, and that annoys me a lot. It doesn’t work smoothly with the watch, which kind of frustrates me, considering that I paid for it. Name is deceiving.Version: 8.12.6

This is false advertismentI subscribed as they offered home exercises. But these are just uncommented videos being displayed after each other, it‘s crap. I asked for a refund but way denied as Apple deals with the subscriptions. A seriously bad customer experience with a responsive but crappy and unhelpful customer service. I lost 8,99£ on an app that doesn‘t offer the functionality they advertise and refuses to refund customer who used the app for around 5 min..Version: 4.5

Needs watch appThe idea is you tap when and how many sets you’ve done in a rep. That works great unless you use the rest timer. Having to hold your phone waiting for the next set isn’t great. Then off you go. Which for me means phone back in the pocket. You’ve got to lock your phone or switch apps else it has the habit of tapping on work out your not doing. And if like me you like wired headphones you can’t just place your phone out the way. Plus I always worry about it getting damaged like that. So really really really needs watch support, or a better method of locking which exercise your doing so you don’t hit others if you keep the screen open. And sometimes it can take you completely out that routines. Personally take it to the gym, use it. See how disjointed it can be or frustrating. Though I really really like the concept so unique and a winner, just needs fine tuning. Lock the workout, lock the routine. And a way of being able to put your phone away and get it out without worries of miss taps or app closing or forgetting your current workout.....Version: 4.4

It might be good but ...The free “preview” mode gives you about 3 seconds before it pops up a dialogue asking you to subscribe. I’m not sure about others, but 3 seconds isn’t really enough for me to get an idea of what the app is all about. They do offer a free trial, but the “preview” mode is not what it suggests. Also, according to one of the reviews, it seems that the AI feature isn’t available during the trial. How can you trial an AI based app (that is its selling point), if you don’t have access to that feature during the trial?.Version: 4.95
