✓ Interesting games play but so frustrating to startI start and in playing for about 10 minutes I got about a minute of actual gameplay (not an exaggeration), and that was skipping a good chunk of the ”unlocking” scenes which normally take half a minute at the very least if you’re getting more then one item. This game does more than hold your hand, it does everything short of actually forcing your fingers through a horribly annoying tutorial. If they had an option to turn off said tutorial or automatically skip the flashy scenes when you open the card packets and level up it wouldn’t be bad but when I just started, forced through a several minute long tutorial, level twice within two minutes and force through ANOTHER tutorial where I am again forced to do things? Well, you as see the resulting frustration here. The reason I’m even considering continuing is that the city build appears to be better than sims city and the aforementioned annoying animations and tutorial *shouldn’t* be a problem as you continue to play..Version: 2.7.0

✓ A SimCity Build It Veteran’s perspective5+ year’s playing EA’s SimCity Build It, now I’m obsessed with Citytopia. The visuals and details are a lot better on Citytopia, but two day’s into it, it has become obvious that these two games have different focuses, where SimCity focus on building, Citytopia focuses on how a city functions internationally. But that’s fine, I love both. The issue with Citytopia is that: 1, the visual effects, especially the ones when you upgrade, when you get new cards are just too much, it has become a huge issue for the fluidity of the game because you are constantly interrupted and distracted by these visual effects. 2, the fact that all roads are ore-built is really bothering those like me who like to design the city landscape in their own way. 3, whenever you go back to the game, you’d have to collect all the money bags hovering on nearly all of the buildings, I don’t mind the work l but it blocks the view of the city, note that being able to give your city a nice bird view is one of the biggest reasons why people play city buildings games. I would like to spend more time and money on this game if I see these issues being dealt with..Version: 2.7.1
✓ Was 5*But dropped it... and deleted it. I loved it before the update...you made it fun before, we could earn free money, I even spent money, a lot, and I’m disabled...on very little income...but I was enjoying myself, but now...not anymore, you made it too hard to earn free money, it is too expensive and the prices went up for the packages... I’m just over it. The game wasn’t buggy for me, I never had an issue on my iPad, maybe I was lucky I don’t know, never had an issue and would play for literal hours on end. I hate greed though. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”! I like the paint and color addition...but I don’t care enough to reinstall. I’m done. ✓ Big glitch in the beginning, won’t let me progressThis game was fun but I got to the part where it wants me to put down a coaster, and i dont have enough money for it. Instead of letting me collect money or buy coins or just wait, it forces me to try and place a coaster. The only thing is i cant! It wont let me back out or anything, i even tried to delete the game and start it over but it saved my progress i guess so i cant play any further, which is a shame because i was really enjoying the game..Version: 4.0.49
✓ Good idea but….Good idea but the tutorial is not that great. I had no real idea what I was supposed to do and just kept clicking on stuff, making money with no real idea how! I got completely confused by so much happening too fast with no sense as to where I was going with it all. ✓ I got stuck in a tutorial and have no recourse to resolveI started playing the game and was enjoying it. Whenever it introduces a new variable, it goes into a brief tutorial mode where it guides you in building or equipping the next thing. I got to a point where it wanted me to do this, but I did not have enough money to build said item. I am now stuck in this tutorial step with no way to utilize any other function of the game. I deleted the app and reinstalled (I was only a few hours into game play) and it pulled up my town again. I tried contacting the creators, but have heard nothing through one route, and was unable to submit a form on a different route because Citytopia was not listed. ✓ Fun but just barelyI hope you guys are making tons of money on these long and very intrusive ads. With no way to pay to get rid of them, you’ve lost my business. I’m not going to give you money and still have my play time interrupted so frequently. No thanks. The game is fun for what it is but only barely. The challenge of the immovable infrastructure and unlocking buildings as you progress are interesting, but they really kill the immersion. It feels more like an evolving puzzle game than a city builder..Version: 2.9.10

✓ Disappointing.Great graphics, fun for the first couple hours of play time... then you run out of coins and cash. Which are needed to buy cards in order to unlock buildings. The game quickly becomes impossible to continue without spending actual cash, and a lot of it. I spent $5 and it still didn’t really get me anywhere. I’m stuck with no coins to buy buildings and car packs. And no coins to buy land to place the building. Disappointing..Version: 2.1.1

✓ Tutorial issueI loved playing the game until I came across an issue moving forward. I was upgrading items and buildings and the game is FORCING me to attempt to build an attraction, however I don’t have the funds to build it so it stops me from being able to move forward. It will not let me get funds from my other buildings and build the attraction. Which is very frustrating because it’s been great up to this point. When I went to report the issue to the developers, i was unable to select Citytopia for the issue. And deleted and redownload but it still has the same issue..Version: 5.0.11

✓ Enjoying app til got to First AttractionThe game was fun building my city til I got to the first Attraction. It then came on with the assistance to place first attraction except it zoomed to a locked section and won’t allow me to drag the attraction to anywhere on the screen. Closed out of game and reloaded and same thing. It won’t let you select else where or skip placing the attraction so I’m now stuck and can’t continue to play game.Version: 4.0.49
✓ I love this game but,I hate that it takes forever to get through cities. I’ve been stuck on a level for literally over a month. I play regularly, always using cash for card packs, or coins to upgrade. But it’s almost like you are stuck on one spot bc card packs don’t give you much to upgrade. Then there just isn’t enough land to place all stores, factories, or homes without deleting parks or activities, but then you can’t make any extra money with out the activities. I’ve had to go in and delete everything one by one multiple times to rearrange I’m hopes it will upgrade me to the next level and it never works. I just feel like I’m in a never ending loop and it’s leading me to almost delete the app and I don’t want to do that. When something cost 20,000,000 in coins to upgrade and it doesn’t give you a Second slot or more products to put in your store then it doesn’t seem worthy of trying anymore. 😞.Version: 2.4.1
✓ Like the game overall however…Lots of bugs that mean I have to leave the game and reopen to fix - especially when clicking on the stats icon. There needs to be an easier way to manage goods and edit where things are placed (like hay day where you can have multiple layouts so you can move things around without having to use lots of storage I also want to be able to start again / delete data but I have tried deleting and reinstalling. ✓ Like the game but..I enjoy this game moreso than the other ones just like it. But, I’ve done several of the cash tasks and never gotten my reward. I even did the ABC kids app trial and never received the 500 and something cash for doing the trial and I didn’t cancel the trial right after either. I’ve emailed the game support, they told me to contact the people that do the cash rewards. I did so, and they “approved my ticket” but I still haven’t gotten my reward cash. ✓ FrustratingThis game made me more unhappy and frustrated than I already am during covid. It keeps the player in a state of continual anxiety trying to get the next thing, but once it’s gotten there is no time to be happy with success. Instead there is a push to get the next achievement. ✓ Constant interruptions in early gameplayIn the early game it’s very hard to yet into the game properly as you keep getting interrupted buy the tutorial guide or the level up or the cards that you get to build the buildings. It’s so bad that I only played maybe 30 minutes or less overall before I uninstalled. Concept and I like upgrading the cards etc... however space is a huge problem given pre loaded maps I have so many 4x4 buildings I can’t use because there is limited spaces for them etc, decorations are placed where needed and don’t feel like decorations at all And recent updates suck you took away 90% of card pack rewards for completing missions! You can build your city as you want but you are very limited on cards to get whatever buildings you need or want to use. The game so far seems slacking in the department that most city builder games have. Freedom of choice, and unlimited opportunities. I was excited to first join, and now I’m likely to leave. The cards ruin the excitement for me and make the game very boring. I was hoping to get this game and play like other city builders, but I am very disappointed. ✓ Sound stopped workingWas interested to try this in comparison to other city builders. Looks good and interface is ok, but eventually you get flooded with cards and cannot keep up with upgrading them. Even when you do, you have to invest heavily with coins before any of the builds become truly viable. Was still willing to push on, then sound quit. Have tried restarting multiple times and toggling sound settings with no effect. Sound will be there when game first opens, but disappears when loading bar is three quarters complete and never comes back. No music or sound effects..Version: 2.9.10

It would take too much time and energy in my opinion to try to advance further and further especially because editing the city is very slow. If there were simply more space to work with it would be the best mobile city building game right now. ✓ Typical iOS gameIt means something that the game isn’t even listed on the developer’s website. This city builder looks nice but it has been infected by the current state of iOS games - lots of icons constantly animating to get your attention on the sides of the screen, some to watch ads for rewards, some for daily reward chests with bursting animations, and I don’t even know what the rest are. I tried to ignore them, but I very quickly got so frustrated by all the typical iOS game nonsense, I couldn’t enjoy the game. Everything is a bubble animation swelling and shrinking so you’ll click it. The idea of a fun game that makes you want to spend money to improve the experience further has been lost among the stupid trend-following gimmicks of all the unimaginative garbage inflicted on the iOS user. I think at the core of this game is an actual good city builder, but you have to endure a lot of jelly to find it..Version: 3.0.24
✓ It’s good but I couldn’t get far because…I think it’s a great game and I’ve been searching for a game like this for months and I couldn’t find one as perfect. The buildings are nice, I love the upgrading feature from town to city ect. But one thing happened and now it won’t let me play. So basically I spent most of my money on upgrades and I had 22,000 left but the tutorial kicked in and told me to buy the amusement- which I couldn’t afford. There is no way of clicking anywhere else and I’ve tried everything to stop it, I’ve even uninstalled it and it doesn’t work. I’m actually sad because I love the game and I can’t play it anymore until it fixes. I wish I could give it more stars. If I wasn’t for that I would give it 100/5 stars but sadly I can’t. Please fix this because it’s hopeless for me and I don’t want it to happen to anybody else. But I would recommend this game and try not to make the mistake I did :) - Maisy :).Version: 5.0.11
✓ Roll my eyes.Painful. I’d like to go faster to build. You get aggressive to get where you want to go and it asks for X and you’re left wondering what you spent “Dollars” on. Half the time you go in circles not too sure what to do. Not fun..Version: 2.6.2

✓ Glitch forced me to buy$50 in cashI love this game sadly an update where we were awarded a bonus cost my cash to drop over -$3000 which amounts to nearly $50 that I didn’t intend to spend and now all the money I make in the game goes to repaying this debt. I have sent two messages to the admins regarding this and posts on their fb where I see many others have had this same problem. I have since sent them a fb message which they also have not returned. I’m going to delete the game if not fixed by the weekend. I won’t pay for someone else’s mistakes..Version: 2.7.6
