✓ Useless if you don’t have internetThe whole Garmin Descent experience is awesome until the last mile : the watch is beautiful, the watch usage and customization is great, the dive experience is tremendous, the data collected (GPS entry and exit points 😍), where it goes south is when I try to get the Descent data where I want. Unfortunately this is the part where the app comes in and it has multiple problems, the main one being that if your are diving in a sink hole in the middle of the jungle, or out at sea for multiple days in a row away from any internet connectivity, the app is useless. What further exacerbates this issue, is the devices inability to pair up with any other app such as Subsurface, DiveLogDT, or MacDive to name a few. Some of you may say “well you can import FIT files to those apps”, sure you can, but you must have an internet connection to open up the Dive app, sync your watch with it, then send that data to Garmin’s cloud, then you have to visit the website (can’t download these via the app), then you have to go through each dive entry and download the compressed FIT file (no bulk downloads that I know of), and then you have to unzip each file and then, just then, you can import it to the the dive log app of your choosing. This is really a very poor experience, and I’m surprised that Garmin put so much attention to detail to every other aspect of this watch ecosystem, but completely dropped the ball on this. My main request for Garmin would be this: Garmin, please make it easy for developers to download data directly from the Descent rather than having your users jump through loops and hoops to get the data where they want. ✓ Can’t delete divesI follow the instructions and delete dives I don’t want. Next time I open app the deleted dives are back. Messing up my dive count..Mg4283Version: 2.0.1

✓ Annoying for FreedivingProbably amazing for Scuba, but the analytics are annoying for freediving. When looking at the graph the dive starts after the surface interval so it says your whole dive is “12 minutes” making it harder to look at the ascent / descent rates. ✓ Photos not chronocalWhen I tried to share the dives and they sent you ti o choose a photo, the photos doesn’t show the most recent one… just showed random old photos and when you scroll down everything just disappeared. ✓ Would give it 5 Stars but…Lack of an “offline” mode when syncing to the app seems to be a gap in functionality. Not sure why there’s the assumption that a cellular or wifi signal is always there. It seems that when Garmin is having server issues or you cannot get online the sync doesn’t work. I am missing a dive in my garmin dive log as the watch thinks it downloaded the dive but it’s not in the log anywhere. Also need a Windows & OS x version of the app. It’s a lot easier to add notes and provide more details via a full device like that..ScubaDave1967Version: 2.3

✓ Good app; better since initial release.Decent app. I’d be more enthusiastic if the vast majority of information wasn’t already available in almost identical format in the Garmin Connect app. My wish list to make this a 5-star app would include: - more detail contained within the dive profile section (similar to Shearwater layout) - display of warning and alerts triggered within each dive (e.g., ascent rate warnings, ceiling violations, etc) - increased functionality with the “explore” section. There’s currently no sharing capability and the database of dive sites is pretty sparse. ✓ Missing some essentialsThere are 2 features that I feel Garmin Dive is missing for it to be useful: 1. Combining dives - any surface time automatically starts a new dive. This is undesirable in lots of cases. I would love to see a feature whereby I can combine the dives. 2. Import from other software - most of my logs are in other software, so my options are to either abandon all my other logs, or use the other dive log software which can import FIT files and combine dives. ✓ Could be good but needs improvingOverall this is just the app I am looking for but there’s a few frustrating bugs that Garmin doesn’t seem to fix. I would like to add all my dive history (from written log books going back over 10 years). You can do this but there’s no Year menu so it’s impossible to input the date. Please fix! Also the app keeps defaulting to Imperial from Metric without me changing this. ✓ Extremey buggyIntroductiom of an offline mode basically broke the app. I can only view my recent dives in the offline mode. They only appear after I go into plane mode and disappear when I go back online. Sometimes the home screen is just completely broken and displays an error message saying that there was an issue loading my dives. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.
