Tacx Training™ for Negative User Reviews

I don’t get it?The GOOD. It looks great and when the connection to your sensors work it’s satisfactory for basic training - without using a video course. The QUESTIONABLE. I suspect this is designed for fancy indoor trainers that change settings for you. I have a basic Tacx Boost (good unit) and use a speed sensor and cadence sensor. The video routes only play at one speed - no matter how fast you ride. The app has so little info on how to use I don’t know if this is normal, user error, or a limitation of using separate sensors. So according to the app, I’ve cycled Central Park but I did it at one speed - no matter how hard/fast I peddled - so while I’d actually cycled about 1km the app had me at 200m at best. When cycling a route there is no guidance to how or when - when using a basic Boost - to increase resistance to simulate a climb for e.g. The BAD. As everyone else observes, connection to sensors is dire. If and when you get - in my case - speed and cadence sensors to pair with your device, there is a chance that no speed or rpm will show, along with a high chance it will disconnect with the sensors and you have to pair them again - if you’re lucky, I want to like this app, it has great potential and I’m the kind person who needs real video and good metrics to stay motivated. I want the developers to make it work, it looks better and is more motivational than Zwift. Please make it good..Version: 4.26.2

Good to bad to awfulTraining programs are decent but pretty unrealistic. Low intensity high volume has multiple 2 hour rides and some 3 hour rides within 4 weeks?? For beginners, that’s totally not friendly. And don’t get me started on the FTP test. Little to no instructions and totally unintuitive. Does erg mode shut off after 20 mins? If so how do we control the underlying resistance level? What IS the underlying resistance level? Bloody useless. Train a bunch and then go to test and have the thing give absolutely nonsensical results. Awful. Period. Will not be renewing premium. Will take my money somewhere else..Version: 4.8.2

Vortex frustrationsAlways disconnecting. Tried over 10 workouts now with new firmware and different devices. Only managed to complete 20 minute FTP test. All other trainin* sessions have paused due to connection with trainer..Version: 4.9.3

Workouts don't start, frequent crashes, speed readings all over the placeI was all excited to learn about this app and tried using it with my booster trainer. Connection with all sensors (HR, cadence, speed) worked the first time around, and I tried an FTP test. There aren't any audio cues or instructions to manually change to e.g. 1.9%. my Garmin was connected at the same time. While cadence and HR matched nicely, speed was all over the place. Instead of 46km/h, it showed 13km/h... But when I lowered my speed, it was showing higher numbers. Completely unbelievable readings, and power calculations are obviously arbitrary as well. The second time I tried, it showed only two of three sensors (randomly) and most workouts never started-they just stayed on "starting" for ever. I set cadence to be used for workouts, when the cadence sensor was detected. I managed to start a workout, but despite correct HR and cadence readings, it paused until "I started pedalling"-at RPMs over 110. To get there required multiple restarts because it kept on crashing. The worst app I ever tried. Massive disappointment.Version: 4.14.1

Good but needs a few more tweaksSo I’ve done 5 rides on my Tacx Trainer using the app on my iPad. I’m really enjoying the options in Tacx, but I have a few suggestions for improvement. - Better user support: the guides online at Garmin are the same a as the basic setup guide shipped with the trainer, and the app doesn’t really help there, either. I had to Google for tips on how to set everything up and get started. - real-time prompts: some audio cues while in a workout would be helpful, including prompts when you get out of a training zone - Upload photos when syncing to social media: I’ve only figured out how to upload the map and data to Strava, but my friends who use Zwift can show some screen captures from their rides. If you were picking a training app and were using yours friends’ activities as a guide, which one would look more attractive? Personally I like the real life videos rather than a video game interface. - Ride analysis is messed up. My screen only shows three bottom part of the graphs for speed, power, cadence, etc., but I can look at all that in Strava, anyways..Version: 4.8.2

Looks nice, but pretty buggyDesktop can’t seem to connect to my vortex trainer. Phone app is a bit better. Desktop app doesn’t seem to recognize ant+ so can’t connect my HR monitor. The old Tacx desktop app was far superior..Version: 4.35.7

Limited videosThere are two options to buy one with HD video quality. The app is good but it has limited videos. Does not worth the money. As I paid 5k for a trainer I was expecting this app being free as the app actives benefits of the device..Version: 4.37.0

Very Good for using with Tacx trainersThis is an updated review. The app pairs well with the turbo trainer and provides a wonderful feel of the terrains that you ride with very good videos. Continuing troubles with syncing to Strava, as you have to sync using Garmin Connect app. Finished a ride and saved it; but frustrating that it just disappeared. Then, a day later, it appeared and synced with Strava. The same thing happened today for my son when he completed his ride. He is hoping he will see the ride and it is not lost!!.Version: 4.13.3

Bluetooth link is very hard workPut simply, the Bluetooth connectivity just isn’t what it needs to be to make this a working proposition. The device is extremely slow to be recognised (by anything Apple, certainly), and then you have to have the magnets on the wheels and pedal pass within millimetres of some particular part of the sensors to register - a task which is simply impossible if you have to keep getting on and off the bike to adjust it, and when the Bluetooth drops as quickly and repeatedly as it does. When you finally get it set up (probably an hour’s work) you spend a lot of the remaining time using it and hoping to goodness that the battery life is good because you won’t be able to face having to reconnect after you have removed the sensors to change one!.Version: 3.4.9

Good app -really bad customer supportThe quality of the videos is significantly better than competitors and quantity is good. Physics model is good with latest firmware updates. However, challenges are open but no one seems to be responding to inquiries upon completion. Additionally customer support emails go unanswered. Perhaps Garmin has forgotten to staff it’s acquired products?? Three weeks and multiple emails sent via different channels go unanswered. Twitter account has been nearly dead for over a year. Even the app support link on this page is dead and redirects to another page!.Version: 4.9.3

Would like better support for Tacx Blue MaticI’ve been using this app with my Tacx Blue Matic Smart for about a week, and it’s been useful in terms of collecting metrics. However, I’m limited to using the basic Power workout, because it seems to be the only one that has support for the variable resistance lever. One further gripe - in the settings, I can choose the bike profile (Road/Triathlon/Mountain). This would be fine - except that this changes randomly, so my speed and distance measurements between rides can vary greatly..Version: 4.8.1

BuggyI’ve had lots of bugs with this app. My Garmin cadence sensor now doesn’t work with it. I hope they fix them soon. UPDATE: It was working, but now freezes. It’s a Garmin Cadence Sensor on IOS. I would of submitted a big report via the app but it was easier to post here. Maybe look at making bug reports as easy as it is to post a review..Version: 4.26.2

Only pay optionsPaying for the trainer wasnt enough to get more than a brief trial. Too bad..Version: 4.36.3

JohnReally poor functionality. Works well when app is running but plagued by glitches and connection problems.Version: 4.10.0

Just the bare minimumThere is no advantage to speeding a bunch of money on this hardware. It basically includes nothing. It’s intention is clearly to soak good customers out of every dime by providing no course’s or releasing any courses to customers. Sooo disappointing that Garmin would buy this cycling trainer and then provide basically nothing for customer to enjoy..Version: 4.49.8

Poor connectionsI am using a TACX Flux S. I have had nothing but connection problems. The app continues to require calibration with trainer, the HD videos continue to hang (despite good connection), the data is all over the place, with power, speed etc jumping high/low. Then when trying to change my subscription there are errors. This app is second rate and the trainer doesn’t appear to be much better. Will try with other apps..Version: 4.44.2

Lost my rideUsual Garmin on and off performance. App freezes mid ride then recovers. Now my ride has disappeared (after showing the screen that says it is safe to exit). So frustrating.Version: 4.25.0

Lost all my Tacx dataWhen Tacx cloud migrated and merged with Garmin cloud, all my Tacx data were lost! The app would keep repeating the two accounts had merged successfully, but in reality all Tacx data (rides, activities, workouts, personal settings etc.) were lost. No chance to fix this, the customer support doesn’t reply to emails, the customer support webpages don’t even load. All this came on top of Garmin’s decision to cancel Tacx previous model and brought in monthly subscriptions for the things (GPS rides, videos etc.) that we had paid for before, when buying the trainer, the software, the videos... So much of my money, time and frustration went into this, with poor to no result. A huge disappointment, Garmin lost their credibility completely. I’m seriously considering selling all my Garmin equipment and switching over to Wahoo..Version: 4.16.0

A bike trainer app that can only import gps filesNot sure what’s going on here, but the TACX is a bike trainer where I don’t leave my location. Yet, the only workout files I can upload to the trainer are GPX (ie GPS… aka navigation type files)? Who designed this thing and what were they thinking? This should have compatibility with Training Peaks downloadable workouts which are available in FIT files. Not sure why the software engineers haven’t done this. Additionally, the app will auto log out only AFTER you have you have completed one of your training profiles, not before. When it does this, it has you sign back in and then deletes the last ride you did so that you’ve lost the ride data. I guess they expect you to log out after every use to prevent this from happening? But then why not just program the app to do that? Makes NO sense..Version: 4.39.5

Old version was way better!Lost informationoff the screen, can't have map and live video together, incline colours gone and jesus Garmin get a better server! loads of screen freezes!.Version: 4.26.0

Keeps pausingIf it wouldn’t pause and not start up again, I would give it more stars but when you have to download or unload, I mean the app then we install the app just to get out of the screen it’s very annoying I’m not a computer expert so it’s tough for me.Version: 4.40.3

Tacx premiumMalgré un internet haute vitesse réputé, l’image est floue sur mon ipad…...Version: 4.37.0

I bought the equipment now I have to pay more?I just spend $350 AUD on a trainer and now they want a monthly fee to use the full functionality of their app? The free section of the app is basically useless. App jumps back and forth from 0w to 700+w despite calibrating the trainer correctly and riding at a steady pace. Occasionally it works fine even though I have updated the app and I haven’t touched the trainer or the bike I use with it??? Frustrated..Version: 4.11.5

Not worth the priceI paid, in my mind, a reasonable amount for the trainer. To then require a monthly fee for full access to the courses is ridiculous. The training courses and free courses are extremely limited so it just not worth the initial purchase. The app itself is buggy, asking for constant calibration right after successful calibration and there is a lag between the trainer and the course. Not huge but noticeable nonetheless..Version: 4.33.5

Cannot run any workoutsFor whatever reason across all my devices iPad, iPad Pro, iPhone I am unable to start the next workout session. If this would be a free service, one would accept some issues but since this is a subscription service this doesn’t sit well with me. The out of box experience is also less optimal (flux). The instructions talk about different content of the (screw) box but on inspection it has the ‘original’ set of screws in the box. Very confusing to figure out what’s right or wrong for the bike set-up. Email enquiry responses not clear and too technical. The responses also take too long, IMHO..Version: 3.4.0

Requires financial subscriptionThe hardware is good. Just a shame that post-purchase (following a free trial) these huge companies milk you for more money by limiting access to most rides and then requiring a subscription. For a casual rider like me I can’t justify the continued expense..Version: 4.34.0

Biggest load of rubbishThis app should be fully integrated into Garmin devices and architectures, it should not operate separately (data captured on Garmin devices should automatically load on Tacx (replicated). If I want to use a Wattbike or another trainer, I should not have issues with Tacx (I should be able to see all the same data as available on Connect). Garmin need to focus on your devices and stop messing around with providing your customers with fragmented architectures!!!!.Version: 4.44.2

Too many bugsI bought a $1400 tacx neo 2 under the assumption that I would be able to control it. This app is the only controller for the trainer. It is a disaster. It requires constant internet. Even with a solid WiFi connection the app is extremely slow to respond when setting up a workout. If I turn off my phone screen in the middle of a workout the app fails to restart the workout and I have to force quit and start over. The company advertises pedal stroke analysis on their website but fails to include the feature on mobile. It’s only available when you sit in front of a windows 10 computer while you workout. If I could return my trainer I would. This is a classic example of making things “smart” and “internet connected” done poorly— with disastrous results. Tacx needs to fix this software as a responsibility to all the customers who paid massive amounts of money for a hamstrung piece of equipment.Version: 4.8.1

So much crashingI am currently doing a free trial, but I used the app 4 years ago before it had a Premium feature and it crashed all the time then, it crashes all the time now. If you try and pause an activity it crashes. If you try and stop an activity - it crashes. It randomly starts buffering mid ride (not a wifi issue - I checked). If it actually worked I’d pay for Premium because the rides are interesting and challenging, but it is massively unstable and I find it strange that they haven’t tried to fix the crashing for 4 years, instead just loaded it up with more features. Also - speed and cadence don’t match what my Garmin reads..Version: 4.12.1

GarbageAll the settings to control power heart rate & cadence are gone. Garmin what are you doing?.Version: 4.6.0

Please fix this appJust moved from Zwift to tacx ( I was attracted by the real videos) and unfortunately I subscribed one year with this app. Very inconvenient.. every time it takes several time to switch on and off my devices to get them to connect ( I have a tacx NEO and MAC). The streaming is not of good quality. If you download the video, the download gets interrupted then you have to go start again from scratch. For 10 GB video you have to tolerate easily an hour back and forth between devices before you start your ride. bottom line I had a Bad experience.Version: 4.14.1

Worse than Tacx desktopNone of the movies start to play whilst riding. There is just a blank screen with a pinwheel that keeps spinning for eternity. This even occurs when I download the movie. There is no filter to show only downloaded movies. Connected trainer always asks for calibration before the start of each ride..Version: 4.25.1

Blue tooth connection is a little iffyBlue tooth connection is a little iffy.Version: 4.18.2

There are better optionsDoes the job, but doesn’t let you download videos ahead of going to the pain cave, video quality without paying extra for HD is poor and I couldn’t connect a third party harm..Version: 4.11.5

HelpWas enjoying my new tacx trainer and the app, uploading my exotic rides in the Italian alps instantly to Strava. A week later Garmin takes over. So I sign up to that and link my new Garmin Connect Account to Strava. Nothing. It says the accounts are linked. I tried logging out of both and back in. Now my tacx activities won’t save to Tacx or Garmin Connect let alone upload to Strava. So I have a Strava premium account and paying the monthly fee for the Tacx app. And today’s Herculean ride didn’t save and during the ride the video spent at least 70% of the time buffering. I’m really disappointed and having looked at the link the developer suggests in other reviews this is of no use either. Could the developer let me know if this is a temporary glitch or if the merge with Garmin has actually destroyed the functionality of a previously good app..Version: 4.13.3

Unhelpful helpThe video rides end up with the video freezing, and often the app hangs permanently and quits on iOS and iPadOS across all video rides (tested 15). Video freezes, even on 480p, with strong WiFi and LTE on or off. Seems to be worse with AirPlay, but turning off airplay doesn’t resolve it. Map also doesn’t tend to work after that happens, with only the workout view being usable. I posted that in my original review, and the dev response was to look at their FAQs, which has nothing of value. How about fixing the issue?.Version: 4.17.1

Pretty unreliableI excitedly signed up to Tacx premium only to find the road feel is buggy. I had to restart my ride a few times to get it working. Annoying as I paid 100% of the subscription price and not 50%. I rode the new forest track and, when road feel is working, they haven’t bothered to enable it for cattle grids. Pity! Also it doesn’t replicate “bumpy country track” at all realistically - it seems like all the toad fee modes produce regular frequencies. I’m cancelling my Tacx subscription as it works better in Zwift anyway..Version: 4.9.1

All I want to do is ride my bike……but I can’t find out where to pay….Version: 4.36.3

Completely RuinedGarnmin have forced everyone on to their data platform. It’s ok in theory but it has killed this app. It used to run seamlessly between iPad, PC and iPhone. Now it works on none of them. When I try iPhone it doesn’t show any workouts anymore. Just looks like it updates. On iPad my workouts have reappeared but I’m offered the opportunity to log in to Garmin on start up and I just get the start screen and a spinning wheel. I can opt not to log in to Garmin for now but it says soon mandatory so that’s option 2 to control my trainer gone. Option 3 is PC but the website app tells me my Garmin login is linked to another account. It isn’t. You’ve made it so that my trainer won’t work so you can have access to my training data. Who thought that was a good idea? So the change gets one star. I’d give it zero if I could..Version: 4.13.2

Crappy appDoes not even allow workouts created in Garmin Connect to be loaded into Tacx. You would do better to by a Wahoo Kickr… Telling me “thanks for your feedback” is a naff reply. Don’t bother, as I bought a Wahoo Kickr and threw out the Tacx….Version: 4.34.0

Movies and viewpointHow about panning the camera, so simulate real life head movement to take in the view. many of these rides have stunning mountain views but they are not seen because all the fixed camera looks at is the road. surely its not that hard???? #2 why can u not see the satellite view overlay on the movie anymore? Instead you have to exit the screen to find it, this is a retrograde step, not an improvement..Version: 4.29.7

Expensive for what it isMuch Too expensive for the quality of picture.Version: 4.39.5

AwfulWhy on earth does anyone pay for this rubbish? The only useful part are the workouts, which are themselves not brilliant - the one I’ve just done took me straight into 70% FTP for the warmup, then kept it at that power until the first interval, for example. However, when paired with a Neo the effect is disastrous. Dropping a gear during an interval results in the trainer increasing the resistance massively, leaving the rider at 30rpm with no chance of lifting the cadence again. This can be a problem with Zwift in Erg mode, too (especially on “hilly” routes), but it’s worse with the Tacx software itself, and on Zwift it’s possible to quickly turn Erg off if it happens. I’m using the bundled one-month trial of premium - the free version does nothing you can’t do with a GPS on trainer mode - and if Tacx think there’s the slightest chance of part with money for it they’re very much mistaken..Version: 3.4.5

Terrible UI.Really enjoy doing a manual erg workout and after 90 minutes to try an drop down to realise the buttons have dropped away. The UI requires a touch so close to apples app closing swipe it’s impossible to get the screen back. How stupid. Surely no surprise that the last 3 generations of iPhone have that function. Why design yours to conflict???.Version: 4.13.1

Crashes when I try to start a ride, unable to use my 1200 trainerI waited a year before buying the Tacx Neo 2T smart trainer, spend most of my afternoon setting it up by trial and error because the instructions are in 20 languages but barely a sentence in English and a cryptic picture. So I finally hop on board and get ready to ride and the app crashes everytime I try to start a demo ride. Can’t find a serial number on the thing and there is no customer support until Monday morning and I’m ready to haul the thing back and set up my kinetic again. Shame on you Garmin!.Version: 4.12.1

Not impressedThe two times I have use this app have been a disappointment. Lost connection both times I use it. Lots of buffering. I understand Tacx wants you subscribe to get more out of the app. But how? No button to do so. How much is it? Where do you go to do so? So I have to get on my bike then find out most of the app is locked out unless I have a subscription. Then do research to find this out? By the time I am done. Bike ride over..Version: 4.26.2

Unhelpful for new usersI’m an experienced cyclist although an unfit one. I am new to indoor trainers so have the entrance level. There is no guidance, nothing to walk you through connection issues, features of app, use of app. I did my first workout via a video. It took forever to work out. When I completed the ride it hadn’t even recorded it even though it gave me full measurements along the way. There’s no instruction on how to connect my farming or Strava. I connected to my iPad but couldn’t airplay to tv. I connected airplay on tv to pc ok but then couldn’t get tracx to pick up my trainer activity despite the pc saying I was connected to the trainer. All just extremely frustrating..Version: 4.8.1

Super buggyCan’t create an account via Apple Sign In. Keeps throwing a prompt that I have no internet connection.... And without an account your rides are not saved within the app. None of the videos, rides, anything ever loaded for me. “New ride” is completely empty, since just like the home tab nothing ever loaded. Etc etc. Did you all take your servers down or something? Come on Tacx you can do better than this. This app is just a glorified heads up display with no memory. Edit: even more fun, it is only convinced that I don’t have an internet connection when using Apple Sign In. Guess they mess up their implementation..Version: 4.12.1

Tacx Training App Won’t Stay OpenNot often I comment, but enough is enough. I’ve been a Tacx user for 20+ years (i-Magic) and a Garmin user for at least 15 years. IMO each of them competed for being THE WORST software company going, now they’re the same company and it’s been as bad as I would have guessed. Cool products, BRUTAL software. Can’t open the latest version of this messed up App. No wonder Zwift is so popular.Version: 4.40.3

Not user friendly. Not user friendly. Do I use zwift? How? Do I use my garmin watch too? How? Why is there no instruction booklet? And I wonder why I’m still biking outside in Canada when the snow is about to fly! I know everyone loves this thing but my dumb trainer and riding outside still makes more sense!.Version: 4.34.0

Bad firmware update not being addressedI updated the firmware on my Tacx trainer after which it quit working with Zwift. So far, going on three weeks now, customer service has done a commendable job of doing nothing but running interference in an effort to discourage my trying to find a resolution. Ultimately, they said, since it’s an older model likely nothing is going to be done about it but finally offered to escalate the ticket. I’ve owned, and purchased for others, a number of Garmin products throughout the years. Never again..Version: 4.39.5

Bug reportThe latest iOS version is failing to load recent rides for me. Get a blank screen when I select a recent ride from the Home Screen..Version: 4.13.1

HassleStarted out great. Loved the simple fact that I’m a click or two I was exercising with my bike. Then the farming takeover. Lots of id and password hassle. And now, it seems like every update that my login information is lost and they want me to reread and reagree to eulas (what, have to get your nefarious legalese in there??) I use almost none of the full functionality and still have too much hassle. I wonder what would happen if I used it like a pro?.Version: 4.18.0

GarbageVideo is laggy and freezes 8-9 times per hour (sometimes for 5+ minutes!) even with solid WiFi connection. Garmin Dual HRM worked great for 3 days then stopped displaying in app (app says it’s connected and the HRM still works with other devices but only dashes are shown in the app). The trainer will stop providing resistance in the middle of a ride. Close and reopen the app and it works again but your ride is ruined. Terrible customer service on top of everything else. Save yourself the aggravation and buy ANYTHING else but this. Don’t say I didn’t warn you..Version: 4.26.2

WorstI spent hundreds of dollars on downloading films and I can’t play them in this app. I hear they want recurring revenue and they want you to subscribe. Like a razor and razor blade. But a razor costs next to nothing. It is bull that Tacx expects you to pay almost a thousand dollars for the razor and then wants to charge you another 200 bucks a year to use the razor. Total ripoff. Time to look into Wahoo. Plus you used to be able to make gps routes of your outside rides and use them on the trainer using the cycling app which was great and it was free. Now they expect you to pay to do that. I want the 3000 dollars back that I spent on 3 Tacx trainers plus the cost of the movies I bought all of which are now useless as this app is also clunky. It’s awful that Garmin stole this ability from me AFTER I bought the product. I want the money to go get Wahoo equipment because they at least live to their commitments..Version: 4.3.1

Good app but...No way of connecting to Strava. The latest update off loads this to Garmin connect web which also does not allow you to connect to Strava. None of the help in either Tacx, Garmin or Strave websites has been updated to show how. Very poor when you can’t even do the basics......Version: 4.13.3

Still unable to connect my tacx vortex smart trainerWith my iphone xr for last two Months ?.Version: 4.8.0

Switch to Garmin Connect FailThe app worked great before switching over to GC last week. Previously, I would complete my training ride and hit save. It would give me a ride summary window, log the ride and email me a link of the file to import into my performance management software. Simple and flawless. Now after a training ride, I hit save and the data is gone. No review window, no log in my recent rides and nothing in my GC account. Did a chat session with Garmin help, gave the individual my info and was informed that my lost data would show up within the hour. Nothing. I’ll try contacting Garmin again but my expectations are low..Version: 4.13.3

Recent app update makes the workout screen harder to useThe most recent update to the app makes the standard workout screen much harder to use. Previously you could see all measures (wattage, speed, rpm, HR) tracking on the same screen, and the whole workout was visible. Now, the measures are shown as the immediate current rate on buttons, so you can’t see the trend lines side by side. In addition, the one measure that is tracing only shows the current 1 minute or so - it doesn’t show the whole workout. You can toggle between the measures - but that’s not easy in the middle of a hard interval. Given I predominantly use the app for interval training - as I’m sure most people who use an indoor trainer do - this is a big step backward. Previously, when doing a HIIT training session over say 60 mins, you could easily see back over the whole pattern to check where you were. Also, because you could see the whole workout you could see if your output was trending down or up, and keep yourself on track. All of this functionality has now been removed. I’m sure the video screen rides are fantastic - but please reinstate the workout screens for those who just want to do time-efficient, workout-effective rides. The only redeeming feature of the update I can see so far is the pause button. Previously if you had to get off the bike for an interruption you’d lose the session. So the pause is great - thank you. But otherwise and overall? Very frustrating. Not all updates are progress..Version: 4.0.2

Improved workout view, NOCan I please have the total time and distance where I can read them without reading glasses. I only use the workout on a basic trainer. The old version worked fine for me and I got uses to using it to maintain some level of fitness but now it is much harder for me. I guess the brand has to have all the bells and whistles to attract the younger people but for an older person like myself good basics are more valued. So please can I have the screen configurable, don’t need calorie count or BPM, or larger display of time and distance or just a working version of the old app for my old iPad. Please..Version: 4.9.3

Still pathetic!I want this app to be good, so I can use it in place of the truly excellent Tacx Cycling App, now removed by Garmin from the App Store. So every few months I buy a month subscription and give it another go. Been doing this for over a year now, and still this app is pathetic - I can’t get more than 5-10 minutes before the video freezes, never to be active again. How come I can use Zwift, Suffertest, Rouvy, FulGaz, Eurosport, TV Players and videos, with not the slightest problem on my (new, latest) iPad Pro yet this hopeless app never streams properly. And by the way, Garmin Support for iOS is also pathetic, I’ve been using iOS and beta testing sports training apps since 2011 so the advice for beginners you get (eg force quit all other apps, toggle bluetooth, make sure nothing else is connected to the Tacx, do a warmup to create a buffer, etc, etc) is of no use whatsoever. And the reason I keep reporting the same problem (Developer Response please note) is that ‘the problem’ has been apparent (many reviews, not just mine) and not fixed for well over a year now. Why not give us downloadable videos again (as for the desktop apps) so that we don’t have to temporarily load the same videos as a stream every time we use them. Maybe I’ll try again in a few months, because the Tacx Cycling App videos were the best I’ve used - they are just completely unusable in this useless app..Version: 4.16.0

Poor connectionContinuously poor connection. Continuously seeking to calibrate my TACX Flux S, with the system never saying its fully set up. HD Videos on riding app continuously buffering despite good connections, speed, power and RPM are all over the place. this is my first time using a trainer and at present i am not impressed at all..Version: 4.44.2

MehNot easy to navigate. And you need premium to get any of the real workouts. Not terrible though. Just a little difficult to figure out..Version: 4.37.0

FlakyMy broadband connection is good enough to stream Netflix at 4K but at 420p the Tacx films are frequently buffering. I have just spent an hour and a half flogging up an ‘extreme’ ride and it crashed completely - on the latest iPad Air. The app might be okay but I’d hazard a guess their cloud infrastructure needs sorting out. I’m using my free premium month but if it’s unreliable and leaves gaps in your activity it’s failing as a service. It would be interesting to see stats on failed sessions. Synchs well with the trainer. Haven’t managed to get workouts to work at all. Post script: I have managed to get a Groundwork training plan to “Start” on an iPhone ( iOS 13.4.1 ) but the capability to “ Start” a training plan does not appear when I run the app on an iPad ( iPadOS 13.3.1 ) - or if it is there it is impossible to find and a usability issue. 18th April Calibrated before I started for Flux 2. Tried Lacelets climb. App or trainer issue after an hour left little or no resistance found me spinning 50x12 on a 10% incline and hitting about 5km/h at 85w. ..Version: 4.8.2

AppThe app always has some sort of problem won’t up date and show all rides can be frustrating..Version: 4.19.2

Bit clunky compared to other training appsTried to start a training plan but it was not clear what I needed to do. The app took me to a website rather than do it all on the app? Tried to select the plan and nothing happened. Certainly has a decent workout library but this needs more polish..Version: 4.19.1

Can’t name or re-name workouts or view full analysisI can’t name or re-name workouts anymore... I am just stuck with the default title that TACX provides. I.e I select a slope workout.... I manually set the slopes during the workout when I finish I click stop then save and now I can’t name my workout... it just calls it “slope workout”! No way to change it... if there is please let me know or update the app. When I click on view analysis it only shows half of the analysis the other half shows nothing. You can’t even zoom into the graph to see more detail..Version: 4.1.3

Keeps crashingI keep losing data while saving. It either crashes upon tapping the save button/arrow or like tonight, it freezes at 33% because the “rate the app” pops up and causes the crash. That is the third time in two weeks. It also tends to drop all power, time and distance info an hour into a ride. My iphone is updated to the latest as is the firmware of Neo 2. What is going on?.Version: 4.40.2

Hit & missTried a few months ago and was ok then summer hit and used the roads and tested other apps ie Kinomap,RGT cycling ect. Came back to this app to try slope and wasn’t great at first as 0% incline felt like level 6 even though I’d calibrated before hand but stopped and restarted and all seemed ok after that. Allow riders to purchase single routes, especially with the pandemic and people losing their jobs as it will keep their sanity. Also app kept crashing on iPad 12.4.8.Version: 4.10.0

IntervalsApp does not have the ability to lap intervals when training in power mode.Version: 4.41.0

WellMy Tacx Turbo blew up last year. I got a Tacx Blue Matic (this can’t blow up) and set up a Premium Subscription and rode a ride on Fri but on Sat this App won’t let me ride because I don’t have a subscription. The ride didn’t up load to Strava (so I can’t prove it happened) I know I thought... I’ll contact Tacx support. Now here’s where it really goes wrong. Garmin now own Tacx. Can’t get any help from Tacx support even though Garmin have had nearly a year to sort out the email support address is wrong and Garmin are the ones to contact. Only thing is Garmin are not very supportive. This apps support link is dead btw. My own fault for going back to Tacx. Should have stuck with Rouvy for real videos and workouts or Zwift for cartoon avatar stuff; both these platforms offer support. As for Tacx... I paid a tenner, rode 1 ride and then the door got closed. Thing is that tenner subscription cost renews every month and can be cancelled any time through the app; trouble is the app says I’m not a Premium Subscriber and there’s no support from Tacx because Garmin own Tacx... Hope you get the picture because I can’t get my head round it..Version: 4.8.0

Possibilité de voir le D+ fait/en directIl serait apprécié de voir mon D+ en direct. Présentement je n’ai aucune idée de cette information tél lent cruciale. En tôt les cas bien plus intéressante que de connaître les Kcal..Version: 4.42.0

App update not as user friendly as last versionThe power adjustment on the power workout screen on my iPad has decreased in size, needs to be touched much more accurately and is part of a drop down screen which keeps disappearing. This doesn’t sound like much but during a workout whilst still pedalling , adjusting power during intervals from an effort to rest is annoying and frustrating. Also not having the graph with the total workout so far showing makes it more difficult to keep track of intervals.Version: 4.0.2

Can’t ride against myselfOne of the best bits of old tacx functionality was to be able to ride against yourself, after all if you are indoor training you just need to be as fast or faster than yourself a week, a month etc etc ago. This functionality doesn’t seem to be working now that Garmin have taken over..Version: 4.18.2

Won’t connectThere as been maybe 1-2 training sessions where I have jumped onto the trainer and had the app connect straight away. I spend at least 10mins starting and restarting my phone, calibrating, trying to get this app to work..Version: 4.9.2

ColinLe.Version: 4.37.0

The trainer is great the systems to support are terribleGot the app and tried to login in with my Garmin account (since Garmin owns Tacx). The app appeared to login but spun for 30+ minutes. I tried the desktop app and the web interface, non-worked. I chatted with support (that was semi-hard to find after my email to support email listed here bounced with we do not proved support here anymore) and they say a Tacx account created today but could not reset the password or fix anything (seems something in their backend does not work properly). Long story short, cannot log in or create a log in. App thus has no functionality and trainer cannot work with the app it is supposed to work with. Understand there are options, one could buy other trainers, a tacx trainer should work with the app and the systems that support the app should work well enough to allow someone to actually use the app. Garmin and tacx have lots of work to do here. Everything works great until it doesn’t. then... your lack of serious support comes forward and you leave your customers hanging. Would not recommend until they have their systems fixed. I was a new to tacx user and right out off the box the app failed..Version: 4.13.3

UnreliableReally disappointed with the inconsistent connectivity with my other Garmin devices, and disgusted with the differences in power/speed readings compared to my Edge bike computer. Sometimes as great as 20 watts. For the serious athlete trying to use this in a periodization schedule with aerobic capacity intervals, lactate threshold training, and aerobic threshold work, it’s basically useless. Been through the calibration process about half a dozen times and have the latest software/firmware. No luck. Looks cool sitting in my garage though..Version: 4.27.4

Difficult, bugs, HRM compatibilityThis is such a difficult app and bike. Connectivity is aweful. I Can’t open and use sessions within training plans through the app, .The only way to get to them is re-ride ones I’ve already ridden. Also the connection to HRM through the app is difficult. Doesn’t always work even though I have an new IPhone 12. The desktop version works ok but not well with the ANT and wrist HRM while riding films but not training sessions. I’ve burned so much workout time. Tacx is not compatible with Garmin but it’s the same company. Very frustrated especially after having invested ove $3,500 in this set up..Version: 4.20.1

UI is not so friendlyI spent a lot of time to realize I can create workouts on desktop version only. And that app has very primitive interface, not very convenient.Version: 4.37.0

Tacx 2Great app and feedback from the trainer. Was really looking for a training plan to stick to and use for an event in a few months time. However, each time I’d try and select a plan it would only give you the individual session you select. At least with connect it produces a plan for the whole period and gives your session in the app, with the days you select to train and you can just start each session on your device. I may be messing it up however, I’ve not found a solution as of yet.Version: 4.38.2

The new racv appTerrible, visually weak and I’m pretty sure it was not reading my HR tickr correct when doing 300watts, also there was no increase in resistance when I set the slope to 5% or 10%!.Version: 4.2.2

It’s not ZwiftFirst things first… Garmin own Tacx and we know that Garmin is the go to weapon of choice when it comes to logging physical activity. So why only 3 stars and why do I still use it. Tacx does some of what I want but not brilliantly. It’s almost good enough (unlike their customer support) I have a trainer that can easily have me using 500w but Tacx will cut me off at 200w because that’s the limit for virtual watts. You need a real power meter to show real watts. (That’s a given for every app) Like I said, it’s not Zwift, it’s cheaper than Zwift’s cartoon social media style game that’s got lots of cheats participating on screen. Pros: Tacx is cheaper than Zwift. (For now) Tacx uses ‘films’ which provide more realism. Tacx allows me to create my local routes so I can train specifically for where I live. Cons: Customer support could be better. Lower spec computers that can run Win 10 ok may not be supported by Tacx. Difficult to organise a group ride. Streaming films may stutter and lag even with good Wi-Fi..Version: 4.25.1

Apple TVDisappointing that it doesn’t have the app on the Apple TV.Version: 4.35.2

Mr Dean CooperThis app has the potential to be way better than Zwift but it has none of the ease or accessibility. Firstly you can not do everything at the Apple store. You have to google “ how do I join Tacx premium “ . Normally you can upgrade from the free app. In the app you get a notice that you need to go to premium but it doesn’t say how! Second the app isn’t Mac book friendly and will not down load to Apple TV so you have to mirror from your phone. The free app platform looks different on a phone to a lap top. As a consequence when you ask for support they refer to app interfaces that may not be on your version of the app. Third on the Tacx website it says if you have premium you can down load rides and store them to prevent internet problems . How do you do it? I can not see any where on the premium app that says “ download” Fourth . The Tacx flux 2 is a nice bit of kit but it will only really log onto my phone. I woukd imagine iPad too. It doesn’t like lap tops or TVs . For some reason the iPhone appears to be the most accessible . Fifth. The TV film is great but why not view other competitors rather than having lollipops all over the place obscuring the view ? Sixth GPS or plan your own ride, brilliant, why not use a dot to chart progress rather than 3D blocks It has loads of potential but it’s not easy to use or coordinated with Apple, clunky I would say. It all there to copy at Zwift but be loads better..Version: 4.13.4

Constantly hangs on 5th generation iPadWas hoping to dedicate a 5th gen iPad (~5 yrs old) to the indoor bike stand, but the app hangs for 30+ seconds at a time, unresponsive to touch input, while the rest of iPad still responds (e.g control center). This is seen every time the app starts up as of the splash screen, with the “skip” button unresponsive until 30+ seconds later, as well as on the connection setup screens. This happens with ANT+ connectivity enabled OR disabled in the app, and with background app refresh turned on OR off in iPadOS settings. The calibration process is hit or miss as well, with the app’s speed box showing 30+ km/h as requested but the app failing to notice this (the box doesn’t turn red and ask to stop pedaling). This is on a 5th gen iPad 9.7 running iPadOS 16.1..Version: 4.35.7

Very expensive for what you getAfter spending hundreds of dollars on the equipment to then find after the trial period was up, I was then expected to pay hundreds more to get the premium package and maintain access going forward was very disappointing. To be left with 3 demo rides of 2, 4 and 13kms was to be honest a rip off. A one off fee like most other apps yes, an ongoing expensive fee... no thanks. I’d look at other brands..Version: 4.9.2

Garbage Like The NEO 2Today’s list of things not working. Clock keeps stopping, power is randomly low by 10 to 20% against three other power meters, Tacx HR monitor won’t connect in, speed unrealistic, erg mode slow and unreliable. Cadence works - because I have a teaspoon taped to the crank. But is slow. Films are a dull way to train. Workout editor Stone Age. Now we get the horror of linking with Garmin Connect and consistency of zones etc. No no no - power zones are completely inconsistent between turbo and real world. Messes up TSS, workouts impossible to complete using outside ftp and any use of Training Peaks Performance Manager is rendered inaccurate. I really , really hope you have cancelled my Premium subscription- it still shows on my profile page. And I really regret buying a Tacx product for a lot of money. Sorry guys - you haven’t lived up to expectations..Version: 4.13.3

Bit disappointedJust made the switch to this app from the discontinued one. Bit disappointed and feels like a downgrade. Not easy to navigate films. When riding there is no way to customise the widgets on screen (if there is I am yet to find it?), so can't see elevation climbed throughout the ride. I think it's stuck on kph - can't see a mph switch which makes it difficult to judge speed when you normally work in mph. Really need to squint to see progress at the bottom of the screen during a ride. All in all, bit meh, which is a shame as the other app was ahead of Zwift. But might switch back to Zwift now..Version: 4.23.0

Developers - pls take noteI have a NEO 2T - it’s the daddy in terms of a trainer. I have the software which is £9 a month (I think) for premium. For that I expect things to work perfectly. I have internet speed which easily supports streaming on a HD telly but does NOT support the films on the ipad. It is frustrating in the extreme to set off on a ride and then hang up with the ‘rotating cursor’ - it needs to have the functionality to download in advance. It even struggles to keep up with the map view. I am sure that the app is working, I suspect that the problem lies with a server but for this money it needs to work. Also where are the instructions to recentre on your position when riding. Thanks for reading..Version: 4.8.1

New user interface as of Nov 2023 makes it hard to useI have been using this app with my Neo TacX bike trainer fora few years. I run this app from an iPhone 12. The UI issues related to the ability to start a slope or speed without (the only ones I ever use) are no longer on the screen when you start. They added banner buttons/quick links, so now you have to scroll to get to the main functions. Similarly, when in the workout, the metrics are so spaced out you have to scroll. Given you are working out and have sweaty hands - scrolling is a no go. Garmin: please develop and test knowing people are using this on phones and the screens can’t be cluttered up thus requiring scrolling. If multiple screens are needed, a tap on a tab or similar is better than scrolling for workout conditions. UI is hugely important for exercise apps. (Note: this issue got worse with the update they pushed in Nov 2023 - have my post now).Version: 4.36.3

Not the easiest to get to workWith the resent release of the Tacx software I was hoping it would work on my iMac but no, graphics has to be “metal” what ever that is. I then installed the software on my new iPad which you would think it would work on. Awful! Didn’t pick up my hrm, speed was wrong (in comparison to my Garmin), the wattage was incorrect as was the cadence. The nee to pay for using courses is a bit of a cheek as I have already bought the turbo! With the amount of money these things cost it would be nice to be able to use it with no problems. I am very disappointed with the Tacx products and will avoid next time I need a new turbo trainer..Version: 4.3.1

Doesn’t stay connectedGreat features but they don’t stay working. I regularly have to quit the app part way through my workout because the app has stopped controlling the trainer..Version: 3.3.8

Great app but some nigglesGenerally I love this app and it works well on my phone. There’s new videos being added all the time so my only wish is PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add functionality so that I can straight away see if I have ridden a particular video before or not. It’s hard to keep track. If nothing else at least add it to the filters for when searching for the next ride to do. Links to Strava used to import the ride title and description but this no longer happens sadly. Would be great to get this back..Version: 4.22.5

UpdateAfter recommendation I updated the app and the firmware for the tack trainer and it kept dropping out of the app. Very frustrating.Version: 4.11.5

Abysmal- Cut down version of Tacx Desktop- big backwards step!Extremely disappointed with this software. Compared to TACX Desktop, they have made trivial improvements in the interface but have sacrificed a lot of basic functionality: a) There is no opponent box showing names, distance and times. b) You can no longer download 720 or 1080P videos. (Note this has been fixed) c) You can't see historical rides (yours or an opponent) and race them virtually. d) You can't choose a section of a film to ride. TACX TTS4 was one of of the most fully featured virtual riding packages featuring both films and animated rides. TACX Desktop removed animation so it was a huge step back. TACX Training continues the trend of reducing features. Very poor!.Version: 4.22.5

Heart Rate Data not showingHRM is shown as connected in the Device Manager page of Settings yet the field is not populated in a ride. Have deleted the HRM from iPad BT settings, deleted the app & reinstalled but still doesn’t show. Shows on my iPhone but not on my iPad. Did work a week ago but stopped a few days ago. Needs to be fixed..Version: 4.17.1

Not possible to give Zero StarsOverly complex app with no guidance and minimal visual engagement other than data on a screen when doing a training plan. Devices don’t connect seamlessly and calibration of Tacx Flow takes 20 minutes - to start! Training plan requires effort at 2.0% or 5.0% but percentages of what, I don’t know. Glad it was a free subscription but I’m going back to sufferfest..Version: 4.22.5

DissapointingThe app is not inutitive. At all. Why can’t I just schedule a training plan? I see Training plans, but I cant just use them, also iPad app and IPhone app are different, I want to use the IPAD because it has a bigger screen, but I have to favorite one then go back to a different screen and then do it, why aren’t they all just added? Why can I hit play in from the iPhone? that’s the whole point of a training plan. Also where is my r/l ratio? Why can’t I connect my heart rate monitor? I even paid for a year pro version so that everything would just be easier, but honesly feel like it was a big waste of money. I just spent a bucket of money on the trainer and def dissapointed with the app. NOT a good first 12 hours with this..Version: 4.0.2

No DetailThe Tacx trainer records all sorts of interesting information like left/right balance, but the app shows very little information: just average and max power and heart rate, and no graphs. Hardly a serious training app! Furthermore, if you try and log into the website (extremely difficult since Garmin took over, since it just goes around in circles trying to get you to create a new account even if you already have a Tacx one), there is barely any more information. You can export as TCX from here, then import into Garmin Connect, but then it thinks you’ve done 11km of ascent when you’ve only done 500. All in all, a disappointing companion to an expensive indoor trainer..Version: 4.12.1

Limited rides and really frustrating UINot really worth the subscription in my opinion. Worse still, every time I try to use the desktop app, I have to restart the app to get it to recognise my trainer!.Version: 4.40.2

No options to customize trainingsIn the old tacx app we could create our own customized trainings which we can’t with this version! This is a must feature that needs to be restore if you want to be used by serious riders When this version came up we couldn’t migrate all the custom trainings build over years My biggest disapointment Main screen doesn’t show averages nor the graphs like old app this version is stripped from all the nice features the old one had It is a step backwards versus previous version which was much better.Version: 4.41.0

Where’s my film.Logged in film I bought gone. Frustrated with this system. Spend more time messing around with app than training..Version: 3.2.3

Eh...Just okay. I use it in conjunction with Zwift. I like that it is actual video instead of a cartoon but they have a long way to go to make it as smooth running as Zwift. The videos are definitely several steps below professional quality and can vary a bit from vid to vid. FulGaz for instance costs less for same quality and I like that they have some “group rides” you can go on. Since Tacx was bought by Garmin I don’t hold out much hope for improvement in the quality of the experience, only price increases..Version: 4.23.0
