✓ EntertainingI like this game and it’s very similar to games made by Glitch Games. 1 star less because some puzzles don’t make sense. But fortunately the hints (most of the time) are really good and helpful in getting you by so you don’t have to look outside the app for answer. The story is interesting and it makes me wanting to get going. Also the puzzles are variety and non-repetitive which is good and non-boring. Overall it’s an enjoyable game. Note: After playing for a while I realized this is not the beginning of the story/game. You need to download and play “157 Prologue” first (a short intro game) before continuing on this game which “157 Chapter 1”. So confusing..Version: 1.1.5

✓ Very Well DoneI’ve played all of “The Room” series several times, and they are the standard for all similar games. This is right up there with them. The graphics are superb. The clues are adequate without giving away the answer. My only minor complaint is that a couple of tasks are virtually unsolvable without skipping them. ✓ Great game, great priceI’ve played (and loved) all four Room games, and both House of Da Vinci games, and this one is on par with them for tone, and puzzle challenge. It’s a little shorter but also cheaper. It’s also a quicker play thru because of the point-and-click mechanic rather than the virtual manipulation you do in the other games mentioned. After playing the free prologue and now finishing Chapter 1, I absolutely will purchase Chapter 2 as soon as it’s made available. I’m very curious what happens next!.Version: 1.0.7

✓ Fun puzzle gameThis was a very fun puzzle game along the lines of House of Da Vinci and The Room games. I liked the variety of puzzles in this game. Puzzles were moderate in difficulty and fairly straight-forward as far as working in a logical order. The only thing I didn’t like was that there was a glitch about a third of the way through where I lost all music and sound effects. Settings still showed sounds were normal and my other apps were unaffected. Tried with headphones and without. Other than that, I enjoyed it very much..Version: 1.0.4

✓ Excellent game!Ok, so I bought this game today and I couldn’t put it down. I played for 4 hours straight and finished the game. It was a lot of fun. I got stuck a few times and used the hint system but no big deal. It was challenging and just an overall fun game. It was a lot of going back and forth, which isn’t really “fun” to me but the gameplay made it all worth it. I was bummed when it ended but I’m excited for chapter 2 whenever it’s ready... hint hint devs... But seriously though, this game is worth the money. ✓ AbsorbingThis is pretty good and the puzzles are almost right..... but.....there’s a certain lack of logic in some of them that makes trying to figure out the answer impossible. They rely on luck. Objects hidden in other objects for no logical reason means you would never logically decide to look there when searching for something. I do appreciate all the hard work which has gone in to this and look forward to the next chapter. Now to the game play, I thought the movement around the game was easy and fairly straightforward, some of the puzzles were at the right level, however some were very tricky, and some, so obscure that even with the solution I still didn’t understand the answer, that being said, having the help there gives me the reassurance to enjoy the game rather than being on tender hooks that I might not finish a game and therefore waste my money. Plenty of scenes to enjoy and seamless game play on my iPad Pro 11. I deducted half a star because I found the graphic resolution lacking definition - felt like an old game unable to render properly on a new device. The other half-star was for making me play the same puzzle 4 times in a row - an old gimmick to lengthen game play and boring for the gamer. Despite that, I will buy Chapter 2 when it comes out. ✓ BrilliantThese games are a credit to Nova Soft Interactive. Brilliantly devised, excellent level of challenge with good hints if you need them, although, that said, knowing they are there you do need to challenge yourself to only use them if all avenues of thought fails. I only needed to use them twice and was disappointed that I’d missed seeing the clues myself, still they do help you understand the thinking of the programmers. There is a story to unravel making it more adventure than a room escape. There is no silly character dialogue to sort through which is my preference for point and clicks, more Myst than Monkey Island. Not too difficult for experienced point and clickers but challenging enough to hold my attention. The hint system can help you if you get stuck but it doesn’t give things away, there are walkthroughs on line too if you need extra help. I played without hints and it took me some time but the satisfaction I got out of working it all out by myself was brilliant! ✓ Wow!I’ve played every single (decent) escape game in the App Store from Cube Escape, Eyes of Ara, The Room, Glitch Games, Isoland, True Crime, Facility47, down to the slightly crappy Fire Maple Games and worse. Happy to report that this is towards the top of that list...it has everything; big environment, layered puzzles ranging from moderate to fairly difficult. Long game play. Not a ton of reading. Puzzle logic always makes sense. There are just enough elements to find without it being overwhelming and instead of auto-populating discoveries to a “cluebook,” they rely on the player to decide what’s relevant. Some clues are subtle and others more clear - which is 100% better than those that give you the clue right away (what is the point of that anyway?) Long story short - get this game, turn it on “hard” and don’t use hints (because you never should). If you do, don’t whine about it because it’s challenging - that’s a good thing. So if you were in a room clicked on everything left solved another clue when you come back to the first room new things could be clicked on and explored. Good story line but long and drawn out... ✓ 👍👍 for a fun, light mystery gameYes it’s a classic “seek and tap” reminiscent of the early Myst games, but the story is entertaining and not too hard to solve the puzzles if you’re on the normal setting. Just tough and fun enough to keep you looking. And just when you think the chapter is over… a plot twist. The hints and prompts will help keep you from getting really frustrated if you need them. You want a bigger challenge? Turn off hints and prompts… have fun and good luck. Of course there is always a good “walkthrough” somewhere on the internet if you really get stuck, but save that as a last resort. It’s drawn with the artistry of a good graphic novel with enough detail to set the scene and not look like a cartoon. That really helps to spur the imagination to fill in the blanks. Audio sets the mood with a light soundtrack that is well balanced, airy and doesn’t get in the way of the sound effects. All in all it’s a game well built by its creators and worth the few dollars spent per chapter for their efforts. ✓ Just wow!!This game is absolutely incredible! Devs you’ve done a fantastic job! I have never seen or played a puzzle game on the iPad that has lived up to the experience I had playing Rusty Lake series on PC! Everything is incredibly intuitive and the camera is so very clever for keeping track of things! When in doubt, snap a pic! I do enjoy some of the witty remarks in the dialogue too… An accessibility feature I’d like to make note of any future updates/ future games these Devs do (because I would LOVE to see more) - it would be very good to add alternate fonts for the diary entries or click to bring up a clearer text box to read - better yet, an option to click a sound symbol in the text for it to be read out for people that struggle to read! Good job devs!I enjoyed the prologue and hadn’t even realised there was a new finished chapter, as yet again a great game has been hidden amongst the drivel of candy crush/ FarmVille/ kardashian iap type dross that fills the App Store, luckily I was going to replay the prologue when I found this and boy am I glad I did. So far it’s incredible, it reminds me a bit of the forever lost glitch games series which I can say is high praise indeed, I’m so glad the developers continued this story as they have real talent. Please ignore any bad reviews, the puzzles are great and varied and the lay out and size of game is perfect. Normally the negs are just wanting something for nothing and can never be pleased. As for me I’m delighted to find a real game that I can sink my teeth into and when you consider the amount of work that goes into producing something like this the price is very very cheap. Edit: I’ve just finished and wow! It is amazing, the gameplay flow is better than most games I’ve played ( which is a lot) meaning I only used a hint once and the hint system alone is brilliant, I can’t understand anyone saying it took under an hour unless they used non stop hints of course 😜 I found it a very long game for very little money, I feel lucky there are talented ppl out there to provide me with such joy. ✓ Better than the prologueI thought the prologue was ‘ok’ but in spite of other reviews I read, I actually much preferred this one. I thought it looked nicer and, although the puzzles were still a bit obscure, I thought the puzzles were much more logical after clicking what needed to be done. It seemed a little less linear, but still one foot in front of the other. Also, I thought it was a decent duration. Not too short and not too long. I was actually surprised by the extra couple of zones after the main one. Story is progressing nicely, but I guess I am still wondering why the hell the guy didn’t head back up to his boat with some of the oil or the DIY fuel he made to escape rather than mess around with the creepy black figure, who I guess must be friend because it hasn’t eaten him yet. I am an old geaser from the days of text based escape room games like Zork, and the early graphical interactive fiction such as Leather Goddesses from Phobos, Leisure Suit Larry, and Freddy Pharkas. Of course the best comparison is to Myst, one of my all time favorites. Meridian 157 is on pare with Myst, with excellent puzzles and graphics. Kudos to the developers! ✓ Best game for ages!How brilliant to find a game like this after such a long wait. As a devotee of the old Myst games, I have been waiting a while for something like this. Whilst not exactly like the Myst games, it has an interesting and mysterious story line, some ingenious puzzles to solve and is beautifully drawn and rendered. The action is frame by frame rather than a continuous 3D environment (so like the original Myst game). Considering that there is a very small team making this, and that they are only charging £1.99 per chapter (and the Prologue is free) I don’t have a problem with this. I admire the imagination in this game and I love the visual quality and style. I consider it great value, it kept me entertained for days. I am now looking forward to starting Chapter 2, hopefully by the time I’ve finished that there’ll be a Chapter 3 on the way..Version: 1.0.8

Even though the puzzles are hard, they make sense when you figure them out (except for the wall safe in the basement 🤷♀️ That was the only one I had to do a walk-through for and it really still didn’t make sense). There is so much variety in the puzzles. Very smooth moving from room, the map helped me make sense of it when I got disoriented or “lost” in the tunnels. I like Meridian 157 because it seems like it could be a real life place/situation, not a fantasy or sci-fi adventure. This game is released chapter by chapter but it is worth the money due to the quality and complexity. Play the free Prelude first, then Chapter 1 (this game) then on to chapter 2. There has only been one puzzle I’ve needed help with - that was in the prelude and had to do with how to interpret a clue on the back of a flag. Everything in Chapter 1 is challenging but not frustrating - if you think about it for a bit, you can do it - although if you do get stumped there is an in-game hint system that provides hints and then offers to let you skip a puzzle if you wish. ✓ Take my money!You have a fan for life. There is something so comforting about the mechanics of this game. It’s not trying to be something it’s not. It’s consistent, the puzzles are different and interesting and none of them were so hard I was annoyed (although some definitely had me thinking for a while). The world building has that myst quality but is still fresh. I want to k ow more!!! Thank you for the excellent imagery and world building annnnd ooo man back at it again with the bit of silent hill/horror seasoning—just enough for some spice—but not enough to ruin the contemplative aspects.
