✓ Fantastic game with great atmosphereI have spent thousands of dollars on IPhone games over the years, often just to support the developers who thankfully haven’t turned to the dark side(“free-to-play”) This game is actually a FANTASTIC point and click adventure and is absolutely worth atleast a couple bucks. Brilliant move making the prologue free, as hopefully it will allow players to see how great a game this is and hopefully invest in the future chapters. I have already purchased chapter 1 (havnt started yet) and will absolutely be purchasing every chapter released. Great hint system, beautiful graphics, interesting location and story, and pickup objects are not overly-hidden. It’s generally fairly apparent which objects can be interacted with, and you always feel as like you are making progress. Amazing game, and I absolutely recommend everyone atleast try the prologue, and if you enjoy it, support the dev so they can continue making actual good games, and not the freemium b.s. that sadly is flooding the market, replacing actual fun games. 10 out of 10 for this guy👍🏼.Version: 1.5.4

✓ A GLIMPSE AT GREATNESSNever since Myst in 1993 has a point and click puzzler moved me to write a review but Meridian 157 has done just that. The atmosphere is immersive, the imagery mesmerizing, the puzzles perplexing and all of this in favor of a slowly unfolding story about a seemingly abandoned island with many deep secrets. The Prologue is free but I would have gladly paid for it. I finished it in one day but rest assured it is but a sliver of what the full chapters have to offer. Once I completed it, I went ahead and bought all the available chapters. It’s so worth it. If you were looking to scratch that Myst itch you get every now and then, look no further than Meridan 157, the best evidence that this genre still has many gifts to give us. Bravo Novasoft! You’ve done what I thought was impossible for years. You recaptured the same magic for me, Myst once did over 25 years ago!.Version: 1.6.4

✓ It’s a puzzler but enjoyableEerie music and ambient sounds, odd disquieting scenes, awakening to a glimpse of someone over you, boats, telescopes, maps! I’m not one of those reviewers who can barely contain telling you how brilliant they are. The puzzles were tough for me, but the game gives you hints and there is actually no hurry to solving things. ✓ Amazing*SPOILER ALERT* This game is so good even though that cliffhanger is really bugging me, what happened? I also love the little diary in the treehouse, I kinda hope that there will be similar things in the full version it really adds a lot to the storyline! You guys should honestly carry on developing the full game it would be great if it was free but (this is the first time that I’m saying this btw) I will pay for it if I have to. ✓ Good game but there is a possible bugPlayed it and it was a good game except two things: confusion about lever puzzle in the control room and the slide puzzle near the elevator was not working. I am sure that you already saw their comments on the lever puzzle so I am saying the same thing. As for the slide puzzle, I solved it and then pulled the switch to get the elevator to work but it doesn’t work. Perhaps it is a bug? Can you fix it? Overall, the game is excellent! ✓ Drawbridge leversGreat game. Very challenging! My biggest problem was putting the levers into there original places. Once I got them back into their original position I found the arrow directions plan quite difficult to follow. My only request is to be able to reset the levers back to their original position (either by backing out of the lever puzzle or hitting some sort of reset button) and I will have to muddle through the arrow directions some way. ✓ ‘Both games are too short’ - it’s a seriesPer the title, this is a series (think tv) so it will depend on how quickly the player gets through it. Second issue raised: graphics dull & having 2 click through some areas. Graphics dull - as in not crisp? Too dark? Probably need 2 b specific in order 2 b of benefit to game producers, at least 2 wannabe players. Further point raised by another: what point the ending? It’s a series, that’s how it was advertised (Prologue - means there is additional to come). Clicking through some areas: I agree this a tad annoying when there is no other action to be done, but when there are junctions in the road/tunnels there doesn’t seem 2 b any way around it. It also helps a teensy bit to pad out the game - not that that was the intent! It is, however, a point and click game so pointing & clicking is what we do. We do get the no click ending though. IMO this is a good 1st ep into the series by setting us up for future surprises and mysteries. Like someone else wrote - IT’s FREE, it’s a mystery, great graphics according to me, no messy story. ✓ Probably the best escape game I’ve playedThis is a really amazing escape game series. I’ve played dozens, but this one is perfect for me. The puzzles are challenging and fun, but absolutely doable. All clues etc are logical, no wild guessing needed. And it is absolutely possible to play through all chapters without help by just thinking logically, I still took a few hints (which are really useful). ✓ Decent effortI play lots of these types of games and so was interested in 157 as a taster. Nice graphics and atmospheric setting, which is what i prefer. Puzzles pitched at the right level of complexity, although the drawbridge one was too ambiguous as you could interpret the movement in different ways. This then leads to frustration. One thing that i would change are the comments that pop-up as you progress through the game. They take up too much of the screen, as does the inventory. Could you make them auto-hide perhaps? It is a minor irritation, but i think with a bit of tweeking they could be made much more user-friendly. Very short, but promise for the next one that i notice is already out. ✓ Very Good GameI am a big fan of The Room games and wanted something similar. House of DaVinci was okay but some clues were impossible so frustrating. This game was a nice change. Movement is not fluid but instead you just point in the direction and you taken there. Other games with zoom/pinch can get dizzying so this is a nice change. The clues are challenging making frustration level low. The camera is a REAL nice touch. You can take pictures of clues so you don’t constantly have to right them down or remember all of them. And another nice touch...they give you the option of skipping a puzzle if it’s too difficult. I’ll be getting the other versions of this game..Version: 1.6.3

✓ Hints not Helpful, Getting Stuck was FrustratingI took one star off because I got stuck on the flag puzzle and the clue made it even harder because it made it seem like I was looking for a map or something 2D. I had to go outside the game for help because I think it was too obscure to be a fun puzzle for my skill level. Most of the game/puzzles were fun. It had a clear plot, intuitive screen layout, and it loaded quickly between scenes. My only other feedback is that 1. it would be nice to have a setting where the item case will auto-close after using an item. I had to keep manually closing it because it covered so much of the screen. And 2. ✓ Not finished it yet but..I’m only a short way into the game and as some reviews I’ve seen have already said, it’s very ‘myst’ like and I enjoyed playing them but it’s a kind of niche market and there aren’t many of them around that are much good so I’m glad to say this ticks all my boxes so far. Haven’t come across the flags/gears puzzle that I’ve read about yet so I’ll weld my iPad to my chair ready for it so that it doesn’t find it’s way to gliding through an open window. The puzzles I’ve come across so far aren’t mind bending but still get you thinking and they are fairly logical so the balance feels right, no doubt they’ll get more difficult later but hopefully by then I’ll be fully settled into it. ✓ Hours and hours of game playI am a big PAC adventure game fan. I’ve been playing since I was in high school (Myst etc.) This is a very high quality, elaborate and beautiful game. I have been playing for days and just finished chapter two. Hints are helpful but there are very few puzzles that you can’t solve if you just put the time in. There are two or three (through to chapter two) puzzles that I rolled my eyes at because the interaction was tricky (the fishing pole in chapter two was tricky to maneuver, not hard to figure out, and the overhead shower vent in chapter one was weird because it wasn’t obvious that it, of all the dozens of vents, was an active game piece). I got the gears more by accident than design! World was a bit murky in places and I missed some objects because it was hard to see, despite turning up the brightness. Could maybe do with sharpening up the graphics? Which were realistically good, btw. I’d like more areas to explore, more puzzles, more story, more everything really! Hope they’ll be another instalment soon as it is intriguing and the overall atmosphere is spookily mysterious. I don’t mind paying for a more involved game. ✓ Really wanted to like this game.I downloaded the Prologue of this game with the intention of purchasing the next two chapters. I was close to the end (spoiler) to complete the puzzle after diving and retrieve the drill and getting the oil. When I opened up the vent there was the puzzle. I can usually figure these out but the green block will not move or, when it does, it gets stuck and won’t move any further. Once they fix this, I may reconsider completing this game and purchasing the remaining two chapters. In the meantime I will delete it..Version: 1.7.1

✓ Mostly excellent (spoilers?)As a Myst-like, this is very, very good. Unfortunately, there are a couple of times you’ll encounter standardized spatial logic puzzles that are divorced from any greater context, with no clues to help you, and if you aren’t great at those, you’re going to get a bit frustrated. I’m more of an environmental puzzle person, myself, and, while I managed to muddle through the first one, the second one, very late in the game, stonewalled me for about thirty minutes. In a game like the Witness, these kinds of puzzles are the norm, and the game slowly ramps you up to the harder ones, giving you time to get better at them. To have them appear out of nowhere in a Myst-like feels jarring. I don’t think I’ll be playing the other chapters, since I’m guessing I can expect more of them, but the game is otherwise engaging and atmospheric, so four stars..Version: 1.7.5
✓ Great! Except...I loved this game! It was challenging, beautiful to look at, and engaging. However, like other reviewers have stated, the lever puzzle and hint were confusing. The hint showed arrows, stars, and a map that (to me) had nothing to do with the levers themselves. Plus, I already fooled around with the levers before finding the flag clue, and when I returned to the panel the levers hadn’t reset, but instead remained where I placed them, which threw off the sequence in which I should have pulled them. Unfortunately, I had to skip the puzzle altogether. The only other thing is that the game is disappointingly short, but for a free “prologue” I guess 20 minutes to complete isn’t bad play time. ✓ IntriguingI hope the full game doesn’t let it down by making it to short and ending unsatisfactory. The puzzles are not to difficult, just right to make your brain work enough to give the satisfaction of solving it instead of trying to work out a weird cryptic way of thinking before you can even have a chance of solving it. The graphics need polishing, a little unclear in places, dark and difficult to see sometimes. It had a good atmosphere and a Erie feel to it although lacking in exploration. I really got into this prologue and love this genre, this promises to be one of the better ones, can’t wait!!.Version: 1.0

✓ Intriguing ... but needs improvementI was really excited to see this game as it looks very similar to glitch games cabin escape and I thought maybe they had teamed up. But look past the graphics, and the style, and the puzzles themselves were pretty boring and sometimes didn’t make sense as to why the clue went with the puzzle. I agree with other users that mentioned the lever puzzle logic was strange and the clue was also confusing. I would say the last puzzle was the most clever. I also enjoyed getting to go for a virtual dive :). I am curious to see what the next chapter holds... I loved glitch games and I would love to play more games like that. I think these games could get there, they just need more challenging puzzles and better clues, and the camera could do more.. like drag an image out, and be able to mark up an image. I liked it so much I purchased the next 2 chapters and can’t wait to continue. The game reminds me of “The Room” but better and the story is interesting and a real mystery. If you like solving puzzles then you will love this game. And at $1.99 for each chapter, it is affordable enough to buy without guilt. I’m a big fan of HER Interactive Nancy Drew mysteries and there is currently only one available for IOS - worked through it, loved it, and wanted more to play on my iPad without dragging out my whole laptop. ✓ One of my favorite game series!I loved this game from the start, and with every chapter it got better and better. This prologue does the perfect job of setting up the atmosphere and story, which is balanced parts mysterious and unsettling. It leaves you with a profound feeling that’s hard to explain in any way other than lonely. You want to know what happened here. The puzzles are a good mix of standalone and exploration based, which keeps things interesting and fun; you know you’re going to get to see everything. And having the camera REALLY helps. I also like that David occasionally comments on what happens; it gives him enough personality to be able to see him as a character in a story, and it makes you feel like you’re in this together—but still leaves enough room for you to think for yourself. Overall, it’s definitely a series worth playing. And, due to it’s length, it has a good replay value, too..Version: 1.7.4

✓ Meridian 157: PrologueJust worked my way through this forerunner sampler over a couple of afternoons. Will not be eagerly awaiting the further offering(s) - it’s only just ok. The Room quad series and Returners 77 & Zhero, or The House of da Vinci are in a different league. By comparison with those beautifully crafted apps Meridian 157 is rather slow and amateurish I’m sorry to say. Perhaps the completed production will add more polish and an improved modus operandi.
