Apple COVID-19 for Negative User Reviews

Falls a little shortProblem The App does a good job in filtering for COVID-19. However, while telling someone who has a fever, sore throat and cough and is over 65 to self isolate might be good COVID -19 advice, that person should probably see a Dr and be tested for the flu. Also a question. Up until now we’ve been told that underlying health conditions include hypertension and heart issues. Hypertension isn’t mentioned at all in your decision tree and the only heart issue mentioned is heart failure. Has the CDC refined the list of underlying symptoms?.Version: 1.0.2

Improvement neededYour screening only asks about contact in the past 14 days but not about actual history or testing. i was tested for antibodies two weeks ago and the test was positive. only symptoms third week of march was a low fever. and was around people early march found to have covid. so ALL of this info should be integrated into my own profile rather than just the simplistic 14-day questions. having the app also doesn’t seem to enable the new contact tracking feature. that makes no sense at all.Version: 4.0.1

We need contact tracing and citizen science not a FAQThis app should allow me to see into hot spots of transmission via a heat map. It should also allow me to input data and record my locations so that if I do have symptoms or test positive, I could upload that to the CDC. The fact that this came out and there have been no further updates makes it’s development look like just a CYA move on the part of tech companies like Apple Google and Facebook, when they were named dropped by the President. Not to mention that there are no mentions of it being an aerosolized virus, which the President knew back in Jan. and the CDC just added in Sept. This application could have been something useful like countries have developed to stop community spread or just something better than self guided FAQ and cheap web 1.0 portal. What a complete failure..Version: 5.0

Will the government use data from this app to track us?My biggest worry with this app is that the data from this app (location, time, status) are directed to a government agency that will be used to track us. Are there any guarantee that they won’t do that even after the pandemic is over. What if they put a gag order on Apple and Apple can’t tell us how exactly our data is being used by the government? I’m very worried about the potential abuse of information. For that reason, I won’t be using this app..Version: 1.0.2

Seriously? That’s it!?The information offered by the CDC is extremely limited. Frankly, I’m appalled they list only 3 symptoms. When the truth is the symptoms vary from headache, body aches, rigors, fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, diarrhea, nausea, sore throat, severe fatigue, loss of smell, loss of appetite, and then we’ve all heard of those who are asymptomatic. I realize developers have no control over the CDC website/information. However, they should have linked other sources and at least covered the majority of symptoms or maybe the lesser known ones. At this point a person would have to be living under a rock on Mars not to know the symptoms listed by the app & CDC. For those reasons I’m not that impressed & don’t think the app is worth keeping..Version: 1.1

Need refining of questionsWhen asked if you were exposed to someone who has COVID-19, there is not the option to say that you “don’t know” or that you’ve been exposed to someone who has symptoms indicative of COVID-19, but who, like you, has not been able to get tested. My husband has nearly all of the same symptoms as I do, but neither of us has been able to get tested. We also can’t be sure whether or not we were exposed to someone with coronavirus at work, the grocery store, gas station, etc..Version: 1.0.1

ConfusionI’m writing in hopes the cdc looks at this. I’ve had chest pressure constant for over a week now. I kept reading where I should go in so I contacted my doctor. They told me very well could be covid but they aren’t testing anyone who isn’t being admitted into the hospital and that I shouldn’t come in to the hospital unless myself or family member is gasping for air! Very first thing under should you get tested I have to say yes to the constant chest pressure and it says call 911 now! So there is lots of misinformation being given just so you are aware..Version: 1.0.2

App does not work as of right now!!!When you click start screening its gives 2 options; “for myself” or “for someone else”. Whenever you choose either option, an alert prompt comes up that says if you have one of the following symptoms call 911. And thats it. The start screening button is grey and does nothing and if you click yes I have 1 of these symptoms its tells you to call 911 and does not screen at all. You may want to fix this apple because it currently does absolutely nothing. Just as effective as the federal testing rollout..Version: 1.0.1

Good start but need improvementsI am from California but I traveled to Bulgaria and can not come back at the moment, due to flight restrictions. This app can perhaps improve if includes all countries in the world. I identified myself as if I am in CAlifornia but that is misleading. Also I have symptoms as chest pain which is not severe, but I did not find this in the questions beyond the first page. This app needs to expand to more symptoms in my opinion..Version: 2.2

Pretty uselessMost of the info is incredibly basic—nothing you can’t Google or get from reliable news sites. I already know to stay home, wash my hands, and practice social distancing. I did the symptom test and was told that I was experiencing symptoms due to the fact that I’m aching all over—due to a preexisting connective tissue disorder that causes chronic pain. There is no contact tracing feature. The “take care of yourself” info is broad to the point of being dangerous; it tells you to exercise but does not warn that overtraining can raise cortisol, thereby compromising the immune system, and it tells you to practice mindfulness and tries to sell you apps for it without mentioning that mindfulness can make certain mental health conditions much worse and doesn’t have great empirical support. Oh, and the formatting for iPad is terrible. Deleted..Version: 3.1

Screening tool is a bit off.Went to the screening tool and it gave a list of symptoms. One of which was “Difficulty Waking Up” I myself struggle with waking up so I selected “I have one or more symptoms”. It told me to call 911. This could actually cause people who are more susceptible to panic to actually call 911 just because it is hard for them to wake up. The rest of the information seems well put together and is altogether useful. Just please don’t call 911 because you can’t wake up easily, the diagnosis for that is not enough sleep..Version: 1.0.1

Once symptoms start...The screening questions are typical: age, current medical conditions, etc. but then it asks if you’ve been exposed without the ability to answer unless you **know ** you’ve been exposed. The virus is so wide spread many of us don’t **know** if we’ve been exposed because so many people are asymptomatic. It’s the asymptomatic people who are spreading this! I had hoped this app would allow me to input data like body temperature, breathing symptoms, etc Those of us who are immunocompromised need to stay on top of our symptoms & react before they are apparent. If we are going to stop the spread we need to find out those unapparent symptoms that show up **first** that people aren’t recognizing or are ignoring. This app **could have** been useful in that regard but Apple dropped the ball on this one..Version: 1.1

Q/A Need Further ClarityI thought as a screening tool, this app did the job in keeping it simple but I think there are a few gaps that need further definition. For example, some of the questions need the answer option of “I don’t know,” if you don’t know If you have been exposed to others with COVID. There needs to be more clarity in what it means to leave in an “area with widespread cases of COVID.” Is area considered town/city, county or state? How do you definite “widespread?” I think without clearing defining some of these questions, it will increase anxiety and panic among users causing a surge in calls to drs and/or showing up at the hospital..Version: 1.0.2

What the whatYou can not even get past the first question! It does not matter if you have no symptoms in the first question the app does not let you go any further unless you click yes then when you get to the next page it stops you and tells you to stop and call 911 and will not let you go any farther. If people fallow this app to a T, 911 will be bogged down with needless calls. I work with the health department, and I can’t believe that Apple a company packed with people who have higher IQ’s then Einstein came up with an app this useless! You need to let people get to all the questions!.Version: 1.0.2

Too many questions!!!!!Way too many questions!!! Especially regarding family and personal health asked just to start. No wonder people are concerned about the safety of their personal data. Some drs don’t even have this level of data. Basic screening and testing status is plenty. Even the symptoms lists are now the same as common cold or flu which could create more panic and unneeded calls to Dr. Additional info could be submitted at a later date if found positive and/or if the person would like to be notified because they could be at higher risk. Many questions even go into Census type extended questions and beyond. People won’t take the time!!! Keep it simple! !!!!! Have you been tested? Was it positive? When were you tested? Which test was done, preferably exact test name company or location of testing site? Have you traveled? Where and when? Have you been exposed that you are aware of? Probably enough to get people started without overburdening them..Version: 4.2

Its Entertainment people that’s it !Alright , I have a slight temperature & a mild sore throat but none of the other symptoms. The app says I should self isolate..No I should not ive been tested negative for COVID-19 . What I have is probably flu ... you remember a virus that also kills 100,000 people in this country every year. As much as I thank apple & associated bodies for creating this app & it is a very clean & simple product also , I’m afraid I think all it does is create fear for no reason, just as my example goes to show..Version: 1.1

Shell of a Good AppIt has a nice, appealing structure to it but the usability of it seems almost empty. It’s a bunch of scripts it seems, gathering data from all sources with the keyword Covid. However when you are attempting to find out more about how this relates to you personally, it’s almost non-existent. All you’re reading is a bunch of data and numbers but what do all those numbers mean? It’s missing the algorithms that connect the data to form conclusive facts where you can then analyze trends to see where you or your community stand in the large scope of things. Ultimately, it’s a lazy app that can basically run on its own but has no heart or real person behind it. It will confuse you before it can help you, in my opinion..Version: 4.0.1

App excludes highly exposed frontline (non-medical) workers...It’s disappointing that this app only considers Medical personnel as being in high risk of exposure to COVID-19. Essential frontline workers in grocery, food and hardware are exposed hourly to hundreds of different non-mask-wearing people gathering at the stores shopping and coughing their heads off, but these workers are not considered to be in high risk of exposure because they are not medical professionals. These retail environments are essentially hotspots since they are not closed off to visitors and controlled like medical centers. Frontline essential workers need to be added as a high risk category in the app alongside medical field workers..Version: 2.2
