Alchemy Stars: Aurora Blast for Negative User Reviews

Too high hopesI played the game and downloaded it during prerelease, in the beginning I had incredibly high hopes for characters, story and art. Over time I have become increasingly more disappointed. The game has prioritized fan service to good story and character releases, and has fallen to that unfortunate fate that most gacha games do. Its honestly upsetting that a game with the potential to make cool and interesting characters with engaging backstory has decided that the bare minimum, same face, big chested “waifu” characters are all the fans want, which is absolutely untrue. Myself and many others I know are very disappointed. They have a hand full of characters that aren’t like this (they get little to no attention) and the mechanics and art are fine. I used to be able to look past a couple fanservice-y things but now that it has taken over the game I most likely will not touch it again. Honestly the word to describe this is just straight up lame..Version: 1.10.3

A great game, completely screwed over by the Gatcha system.Alchemy Stars is actually brilliant. It pivots classic puzzle games into strategy with a simple and unbelievably effective twist. It also lands the story, has great characters, and feels rewarding to play. So why three stars? Because you will intentionally avoid aspects of this to optimize your play. One of your characters is trying to talk with you? Already did that today SO I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW SO I CAN GET A PRIZE. I intentionally left Uriah hanging because there’s a limited number of character interactions, and you’re only rewarded once per day. So blow through all that amazing writing at your peril! And if you don’t optimize , you don’t get as much content. So yeah. Not even a monetization problem (the game is skill-based) but some... I don’t know. I don’t know why I can’t just have fun with the characters without the reward system- the writing is more than good enough!! There’s depth and nuance and it’s a fun read- why penalize players for enjoying the game? It doesn’t make sense. Great game though, gameplay’s better then anything else in the market. And yeah, I saw Fft and Disegea on here. If Alchemy Stars was mainly a game instead of a checklist, it’d be the best game ever..Version: 1.0.2

8-14 is way to hardThe game is great but this one level is too hard for the casual gamer. Yes it can be beaten but if you aren’t a player who really plans out and reviews every characters abilities then you’re going to keep losing. Added with the fact that the enemies on this map can continuously reset your characters abilities (so you can’t use abilities on this map practically), you’re stuck hoping the tiles line up with the color of your team, which is a matter of luck. That’s another thing the game is a matter of luck and though this could be looked over because all of the other levels are doable, this level makes you really see how luck plays an important role in this game. Now, if you tried to beat this level and you don’t have the right units, it’ll take forever to build up others just to try them out in this level. The level is too hard, I’ve been trying for a month now and can’t quite get it. I’ve given the game a three star because the level is too hard and makes trying to level characters harder, seeing as I can’t get access to higher exp levels if I don’t beat this level..Version: 1.2.2

Unique combat, but extremely grind-yI was excited downloading this because it had lots of attributes that appeal to me — hatch’s hero collection, unique abilities, turn-based strategy, and most interestingly a unique combat system. I paid a buck for a starter pack in the shop and played for a few hours before hitting one of the most sudden and earliest grind-walls I’ve ever seen in a game like this. Having played quite a few, I can tell when things start to push toward pay-to-play, and it happened REAL quick in this one. The exponential curve of cost eclipses the rewards earned from beating levels so quickly that I’m giving up on this one just a few hours in. It’s a shame, because this has a ton of potential, but the energy system, leveling up, and upgrading are all among the stingiest I’ve seen in games like this. Unless you’re prepared to sink hundreds of hours or dollars into this one just to keep up, I’d skip it. There are lots of other games (or other activities) more worth your time..Version: 1.0.2

Interesting game, lost me when there’s no female playerThere should really be a gender option for playable character, there’s no reason this should be or has to be limited to a male player and imo alienates a lot of potential female player bases. This isn’t just me either, there’s multiple studies done including one recently published by riot that say women almost exclusively play female playable characters or don’t play games without them. I thought it would basically be left ignored or ambiguous until I got to stage 3-3 and it takes you into a 3rd person RPG style area and I immediately lost interest when there’s plenty of other gachas which don’t force a male perspective. It’s a shame too because the gameplay was fun an unique, just glad I found out before spending money..Version: 1.10.3

Great game! But confusingThis game is super fun and keeps me busy. However there are a bunch of things I don’t like so I’ll start with those: - through the colossus interaction with the characters you end up having conversations about people you’ve never met yet somehow have a friendly relationship and a first name basis with them. It’s really confusing and actually lost 1 star because of it. The characters are amazing but I really don’t like that I meet people without ever actually meeting them - the progression seems to be slow, but I’m enjoying that aspect of it. What I don’t like or rather what’s confusing is that there are friends? But I have no idea how to even add someone or even interact with other people playing this game. Maybe I have progressed far enough, but regardless I would love to see some aspect of pvp or something to interact with the other players. I subtracted a star for this On the bright side, love love love the social interactions with the characters through the texting feature. I wish I could give my own answers cuz the main character seems a little like a jerk. I also love the story so far. It’s a little bland and follows the basic story, however the characters really liven it up. Keep up the good work and I can’t wait to see what else comes from this game!.Version: 1.2.7

Could be greatThe Bad: much like Arknights they really make you work for the free currency to do pulls. They NEVER give free pulls from events (like many games will do a free 10 pull a day for 5 days every so often), and once you get through the bulk of the content (which there isn’t much of at this point), you just run totally dry on gatcha currency. There is currently no way to work on breakthroughs (acquiring multiple copies of the same unit to unlock more powers) without just waiting for a banner, which would be months, save, and hope you get really lucky. As said before, there is maybe 3 weeks worth of content in the game before you’re totally through the story, have an ok team to push into the spire and farm whatever event may be running once a day. The Good: enjoyable gameplay with simple yet satisfying strategy. Music is great and character design is for the most part very cool..Version: 1.2.2

Dying cash grab gameDon’t bother. Played through most of the game and while it’s not a p2w it’s certainly not f2p friendly. The content is very barebones and I don’t understand how it has 4.9 rating!! One event going on for new characters, only way to pull for one is if you spend about 25 dollars. Just to pull for them. Yeah not worth it and it’s still rng who you get. This game has been out for a while yet they still have a lot of weird bugs and translation errors that make the story cringe and awkward. It’s literally a waifu cringe party as you progress. Concept is cool but they mess it up themselves in certain battles that are meant to just irritate the heck out of you. It’s not fun and just becomes a chore to play in the long run. From the same company that made Genshin yet this game feels like it was made in a week and just designed to rip you from your money, not Diablo immortal bad but close to it..Version: 1.11.2
