Gin Rummy Classic+ for Negative User Reviews

Agree with othersNo real randomness here. Want to prove it? Wait until you’ve been soundly trounced by the AI. Then they will try to keep us from a rage quit by easy win right? So just try to lose with the next opponent. It can’t be done. I made no melds but still draw cards that I could use. I refused to knock but then ended up with an undercut bonus and won twice. Want more proof? The AI ALWAYS picks up ace, twos and threes — that’s the way it’s programmed to meld w low cards and is always dealt some. Gin Rummy is so addictive they don’t care if their game is mediocre. I winder if it’s a great deal of work to have a more sophisticated AI..Version: 1.0.3

Good … butSometimes doesn’t show the opponent’s hand when they win….Version: 1.0.3

Waste of timeLike the rest of these classic games on arcade it’s rigged. The shuffling is not realistic and you go through streaks of winning every hand and then winning nothing..Version: 1.2.4

Unrealistic playThe random meditation and this is really off. They also want to take too much control over your melds,And if you try to take longer than three seconds to think about your play, they want to throw all kinds of hence your way. I don’t need training wheels, I just need a card game. This might be the worst of the bunch..Version: 1.0.3

Hand stacking at higher levelsThe average time the computer takes to get a knock hand gets very short at higher levels, suggesting that the game is simply giving the computer better cards at these levels — that’s a horrible way to design a game. The computer and player should always get randomly assigned cards..Version: 1.0.3

Good, not greatBesides the annoyance of it asking for a review everyday. This game is fun, it has good settings so you can set the game to your level of experience. Where it misses is the time waste of giving you points after every hand so you can progress up the nonsense levels. Then when you finish a game it makes you wait for an opponent, as if there’s another human there, but it’s just the computer. If you got rid of these time wasters I’d give you 5 stars, or at least make them optional. Question, is there a way to play against other people, actual humans?.Version: 1.0.3

FixedIf you throw away a card you can guarantee the game will show the card you wanted For example you throw away one of your two 7s and then a seven will be the next card shown. Occasionally fine … but every time unrealistic.Version: 1.0.3

Seems rigged against youThe game is initially fun and seems like a 50/50 chance of winning. After about an hour of play time it starts to heavily swing in favour of the AI and you maybe win once every 5 deals. This becomes repetitive and it clearly doesn't deal the hands fairly. Deleting…..Version: 1.2.4

Unfair computer advantageThis game started out really fun, but quickly became very clearly stacked in the computer's favour. Really disappointing. Also, you got to see the patterns of what cards the computer would give you, based on what you picked up or didn't. Predictable and ruins the game..Version: 1.2.6

Nice game but very one way or the otherIn general the ai plays for lowest deadwood and discards strictly defensive. So once you know that the game becomes completely dependent on the deal and draw. It seems like either the ai or the player runs away with the game 90% of the time. The lack of close games seems very un-random. I have also noticed that occasionally the player does not lay off cards that it clearly should. It is hard to catch because the animation is fast but if you watch you can see it. Update: Changed to 2 stars. Once I got into the gold tiers the game was no fun. The ai opponent didn’t get better the deals are just stacked against the player..Version: 1.0.3

AwfulThe more you play the more you see the game gives advantage to computer. Waste of time.Version: 1.2.4

RiggedOpponent seems to go out way easier than me and always with 1 left, now I’m no expert but it makes me want to dump this app for another. Predictably I get high cards often after rejecting them….Not a good app..Version: 1.2.4

Another bad gameWell. All is well until you hit gold tier. Then forget it. You’ll never win again. I gave it 28 game losses to finally just accept soon as gold tier hits the game is an uninstall. Computer won hand in 1-4 draws every single time without fail. What’s the point in writing a game to do this? Supposed to be relaxing. Not this dev. Lets just make something that would be statistically impossible in real life. No one loses every round in anything. So dumb..Version: 1.0.3

Once you reach Gold tiers, draws are not randomThe AI plays as of they’re watching your hand. As long as you’re holding onto a meld the AI holds cards you need until you discard to break the meld you’re working on. The draws seemed much more random during earlier stages but went heavily stacked to the AI after reaching Gold. How do I know this is the case? Play 50 hands against the AI and another 50 against a human, you’ll see more realistic draws when playing against the human. Definitely moves down my list of games to play when I’m looking for something to kill time..Version: 1.2.7

RiggedGame is extremely one sided. As soon as you when two or three games, the computer gets to go first anytime the first card is below a five and goes out within 2 turns every single time. Not a matter of strategy or beating the “defensive strategy” played by the CPU. Statistically improbable for the computer to go out in two turns and win the game within 2-3 rounds every 3 games. Stick to regular cards if you want a fair game..Version: 1.2.1

Competitive?I've won the first 34 games I've played on the competitive level. I've been playing gin for more than 60 years and used to be very good but I'm 75, my short term memory is shot and I can no longer remember the cards. I'm really just winging it at this point. So I shouldn't win every game. I've played many computer opponents on expert level and I usually win 60 to 70% of games. So I'm not sure how competitive this AI is. Does it get better as you progress through the levels?.Version: 1.0.3

Ridiculously bad oddsAs I’ve played this game longer, the computer just constantly is able to go out after 2-3 rounds and I keep getting stuck with crazy high points. It’s really beyond natural odds. I am getting tired of games that try to make it more challenging, but the only way they know how is to make the computer have unrealistically great odds. That is not a more challenging play because you’re up against a good player, it is more challenging because you’re always beat by something that has phenomonally great hands almost every time. Please address this or I will be removing the game from my device. I love card games and love a challenging opponent, but this is right up there with cheating in my book..Version: 1.2.4

Ok for a whileGame is fun up to a certain level, once you get into Gold levels, good luck ever winning a game at all against the computer. Know it’s a game of luck, but way too unfairly lopsided at a point. Higher tiers now…. Game cheating is just stupid. Lucky to so even 1 out of 10 games. Stuck with the game a little longer and yes…. It cheats like crazy…. Higher tiers you will not win.Version: 1.2.4

NO FRIGGEN WAYThis game is random. Opponent never seems to hold high cards, and opponent more often than not discards cards I needed to complete a set AFTER I broke the set. Or the stock, or draw, pile just conveniently has the card I needed to complete a set after I broke the set. This opinion is based on many hands played over many days. This game is going into trash..Version: 1.0.3

Poor Shuffling MechanismThis game is let down by the appalling code in the shuffle mechanism. Too many sets stay together, with the worst I have seen being four Queens in a row … 300,000 to 1 … but that game also had multiple three card runs which appear with similar odds (in a truly random pack). I got to first in Ultimate Tier because I recognised the poor shuffling and adjusted my playing style to take advantage of the failure of the logic in the application. Then you just have to be better at stochastic thought than a computer game whose development team can’t properly generate pseudo random numbers. Simple. PS: I teach software development for a living ;-).Version: 1.0.3

What if the computer played a side and dealt? The most blatant 2/3 control game of all time, lol. Consistently holds melds until You decide to give up on them - then will discard the exact card you need the very next turn. Will consistently hold out the cards you need just to mess with you. A frustrating experience playing against a stacked deck every hand. 2/10 would not recommend..Version: 1.2.4

Used to be fun….but now I only loseI used to play this game for hours on end, but lately I can only play like two or three games and then I have to take a break sometimes for weeks. This is because once I win one or two games, I can’t win anymore. I have sat there for 20 games and only won one or two of them. It’s just frustrating because there’s no other parts or events to this game so if you aren’t winning, what’s the appeal in playing..Version: 1.2.6

Goals missing in settings?Where are my goals? The wife has this game on her phone. She has goals and achievements are unlockable. I don’t have that section in my settings. Why MonilityWare. Games is updated. What gives? Also, game is pants. Why is this on arcade? Woeful..Version: 1.2.6

BooFeels super rigged. Every time I don’t pick up a card the next card would make my hand. Every. Single. Time. Wish it was playing against other humans not a computer that is clearly made to ALMOST beat you then you come out a winner in the end somehow. It’s not fun if I know how the game is gonna go before I play..Version: 1.0.3

AI gets real aggressive….Overall, it’s been an enjoyable way to learn the game. However, I’m now at the point in game progression when I’m lucky to get 10-15 point winning hands and build up a 30-40 point leads, only then watch the AI win the game in rapid succession. Consistently. At this point, I’ve stopped playing because getting pounded on by the AI is a given..Version: 1.0.3

Unrealistic gameplay and dealsUnrealistic deals ruined this for me. After a while you will start to notice the deals are unrealistic and it just makes you aggravated and annoyed. The second you discard a card that would be part of a set or run the card you needed will be discarded to the pile. 100% of the time… wth?!? If you’ve played gin you know that can happen but not 100% of the time. Totally ruins the experience..Version: 1.0.3

Great game then rubbishThe ai is great then you lose all the time so it’s a grind until you realise the machine will win. The stupid goals and levels mean very little when the cards are literally stacked against you at the higher levels..Version: 1.2.4

More crap from mobilitywareRemove this crap from arcade..Version: 1.2.4

FixedI like playing but when I got to the platinum level it becomes impossible to win. The only way that can be accomplished is by manipulating the deck..Version: 1.0.3

Entertaining but needs polishGlad to see I’m not the only one getting the 20 minute streak of scoring nothing against the app’s average of 117. Also has a bug where after the deadwood and runs line up just showing Round Over, +40, then proceeding to the score check between rounds. It’s entertaining, but could use another round of debugging..Version: 1.0.3

GarbageOnce you get into higher levels, you win once every ten games or so. Absolute waste of time and bogus game..Version: 1.0.3

Too much gamificationThe game play itself is fine. What gets on my nerves is the obsessive concentration on levels and goals. All of this just gets in my way. I’d like to play a hand and get the score and then go on to the next hand. Honestly I don’t care where I rank, I just want to play the game.Version: 1.2.4

No chance cards are drawn randomlyVery poor game AI. A big win seems to always be followed by a big loss. Frustrating to play when it is clear that the deck will be stacked against you, literally, and card draws are biased..Version: 1.0.3

FIX THIS GAME-Apple Arcade can do better (we pay for this)YAWN-this app is a continuation of annoying, unchallenging, and insincere game AI that frustrates with its non-random, guided (and predictable) gameplay. Events that would never happen in real life card play. READ THE OTHER REVIEWS!!!! FIX THIS GAME. You do understand that it is no fun to have every (card play) you make countered by EXACTLY the card you thought had no chance of showing up, showing up, right? DUMB Again fix this game. It is not a revenue game, but rather a free play Apple Arcade game. FIX IT OR REMOVE IT. A N N O Y I N G!.Version: 1.0.3

Has potentialThis game simply functions as advertised. Ginny Rum with zero bells and whistles. The experience could be vastly improved with online play. It also seems somewhat rigged? - often get a run of 6-8+ picture cards in a row that don’t help my hand whatsoever - my opponent sometimes goes on a run where they pick up every single card I discard - I often hold onto an incomplete set for 10+ turns and the second I dispose of one the VERY next card would have been the one to complete it. Almost EVERY single time. It’s infuriating.Version: 1.0.3

Was fun for a whileWas fun but it really seems as you go higher in the tiers the “difficulty” is just that the AI opponent gets better cards. AI Knocking after three or four draws happens more frequently. I’m not seeing the point of tiers, I just want to play Gin. Who cares about “advancing”? TouchRummy does this right. Much more satisfying game though Rummy is a bit different from Gin..Version: 1.0.3

Hindered by bugsFor example, the game would be so much better if the deck was actually shuffled….Version: 1.0.3

Rigged decksOn more than one occasion (more than 10 that I’ve noticed) I’ve played the same game over again. I’m afraid if I paid the game more attention and didn’t just play as a side distraction I’d notice a lot more. So higher levels are just games where the computer players hand starts closer to winning more often. Seems like lazy programming to me and should be renamed “Deja vu” or “Groundhog Day”.Version: 1.2.6

Odd ScoringI have played gin rummy and different versions of rummy over the years. The main issue I have with this game is that the sets you make don’t count for anything. The only thing that counts is the deadwood pile. I had always played that you add up your sets (k=10, etc.) and subtract the ‘deadwood’ to get your score and compare that to your opponent. The computer plays against my instinct to create good sets or melds..Version: 1.0.3

Too lowMultiplayer winning score is way too low. Only 50 points to win is ridiculous. This means there could be a win after only one hand..Version: 1.2.7

Great Play, But Not a Fair DealI played the game through level 25 and it was fun until you get to the upper Bronze level. At first the AI always knocks and you can win just by not ever knocking. The maddening part of this game is that when you reach the bronze level, the AI deal is not fair and it favors the AI. This is obvious because no one gets lucky that many times in a row. This makes the game rather boring at that point..Version: 1.0.3

Once loved…..I loved this game but now I’ve reached Platinum 1 level it just won’t allow you to compete, I’m all for games getting progressively harder but when they do that by denying any opportunities to score then it becomes pointless in every sense of the word 😕.Version: 1.0.3

Algorithm May Be OffThe game is well-designed, works fast and crisp, and the UI is alright, where it veers a little is with the algorithm. It’s so rigged that I can now predict when it will give me a J-Q-K. Since then, I’ve been holding into those cards because the computer is rigged against them. It’s very odd that they wouldn’t randomize this a bit more. I’ll have to look for a more neutral/realistic app..Version: 1.2.1

Nothing Random About This GameI have to wonder about the developers. I have played Gin Rummy for decades…will real hand-held cards if you can believe it! This game is a lot of fun, yet exceedingly frustrating. All the negative reviews are spot on. While my winning percentage is better than my losing percentage, I’m not convinced it’s worth 5 bucks a month. So I’ve downloaded Hearts and Spades as well to fool myself into believing I’m getting my money’s worth. In any case, all these card games are addictive, but fall way short of expectations. I suppose I could be spending my dough on things more ridiculous. The graphics, layout, and animations are terrific so…guess I’ll keep playing until I quit playing :) Update 10/1. I made to level 163, but I will be deleting this game, and the other card games from Arcade. In addition to all the accurate negative reviews, I find it extremely odd that the developers don’t bother responding…at all. The games are in pretty packages, but are so poorly developed. It’s all about the $5 monthly subscription fees. What a racket. Apple, you should address the poor quality of the games you endorse. I’m out.Version: 1.2.4

Fun but AI clearly gets advantageAfter awhile and as you level up the AI starts to clearly get better RNG, while also magically holding discards you could use tuntil you are forced to discard 1 of 3 for a set. For example, I have a Jack and 10 of hearts. It holds the 9 of hearts for ages, soon as I discard one of mine it chooses to then discard the 9 finally. At first the game was fun, but the further I got into it you could clearly tell the AI was getting favored..Version: 1.0.3

Shuffle system and cheating AIUnfortunately a fun game turns into a slog due to a horrid shuffling system that gives one player an essentially perfect hand and the other nothing, most of the time the NPC opponent has the better hand and wins soundly within one or two turns or on an extended play gets all the cards they need while the player constantly draws high suit cards which should be so low on statistical probability it shouldn’t be happening. Fix the shuffling system and the game will be fun..Version: 1.2.4

Very bad AI on thisComputer always knocks. Always gets the card it needs. I’ve noticed say I need a queen of clubs I can pick up many times. Soon as I throw away the card that would make the queen of clubs work, next card is always that card. The dealing is stacked so you will lose every time. Fix the AI. This is not random. Computer always gets the card it needs. Me…. Never..Version: 1.0.3

QuestionableJust downloaded this today. I am pretty good at gin; good enough that some people won’t play with me because I win a lot. The first few games were great, but then didn’t matter what I did I couldn’t win. Cheating? I’m not sure about that. But the losing streak seemed very unreasonable and completely ruined the fun. Not sure what is up with this game..Version: 1.0.3

Computer is set way too hardI enjoy the ups and downs of win or lose but the bot computer overlord is set to absolutely crush opponents to the point it is not fun to play at all. I enjoy your other card games in Arcade and they seem to have a better balance of win/lose. Trying to play this one is an awful experience.Version: 1.0.3

Noticeable differences in Competitive modeI’ve played thru several levels of Competitive mode and notice one thing. When you’re at the bottom of the pile you get NO cards that are useful at all. But when you’re at the top, you get every card you could ever dream of. I see this with every tier. Interesting..Version: 1.0.3
