✓ Not bad, but lacking a key feature for group diningThe main thing I want to know quickly with a group of diners who are splitting the tab is this: what is the split amount BEFORE the tip is added. Thus, and ideal tip app would tell me what we each owe prior to tipping, and then how much each should add for the tip when our credit cards come back. In other words, I'd like the app to show me the pre-tip splits, the tip amount, and the post-tip split. I will pay good money for someone who comes up with this. Icing on the cake would be if the app could do complex splits, for example, if there are 6 diners comprised of 2 couples and 2 singles, the app would calculate 2/6 for two of the splits and 1/6 on the other two for the singles. It's complicated, I know, but this is how people dine..Version: 0
✓ Try "Tip" by Carlos Perez instead.To say that this application takes its inspiration from Carlos Perez's "Tip" application, would be putting things quite euphemistically. I'm not usually a person that gets into the fray of one applications design over another, but in this case, it is quite galling to think that a developer would redesign his application to look (and to attempt to function) just like another developer's app. I'm pretty sure that most folks won't care or will not know what has happened here, so I will say this: Before buying "Tip" I tried out "CheckPlease" first, and found countless mathematical errors in it. At first I thought it was just me, so did the computations (simple stuff) over and over again, but each time I would find that "CheckPlease" would get the math (this is especially true when "Rounding") wrong. While it's a bit disconcerting, I suppose one shouldn't expect anything else from CheckPlease. Update: I just checked again, and the calculation (and Rounding) errors are still there. They aren't difficult to find if you take the time to look..Version: 0

✓ Won't accept the correct tax ratesI had this and liked it but have held off on reviewing most apps until at least 1 update came out (I hate all those reviews from people that did not even buy and use the app). The last update ruined this app. It is useless in a city where the sales tax is 7.75% because it keeps rounding it to 7.8%. I know, minor difference but come on. If you ask me for a tax so my bill calculates correctly then you have to know that many tax rates are to 2 decimal places. I am giving it a 2 instead of a one to balance out the 3 I would have given before the update. Hopefully the next update will fix it and I will update my review. Thanks for the free price but it has to work correctly, even for free..Version: 0
✓ Terrible update - GIVE US BACK OLD UI!!!I've been using this app for years and loved it! Latest update ruined the app, the UI is horrible and the old UI is the reason I used the app. :-( Too bad and a real shame that the dev actually "broke what was fixed" the opposite of what they should have done. ✓ Was one of the best, now it's like the rest...I have to admit, I was onboard with this tip calculator since day 1. Loyal, loved, and enjoyed the application as it went through it's evolution. Slowly but surely, ads started popping up with this tip calculator and although it was tolerable, it did get the job done. Correctly! Unfortunately, I feel this developer was very sneaky in the way he made this application free from the start, then all the sudden created it a lite version with the option to purchase the "non-lite" version with no ads. I'm sorry, but honestly, nothing in life is free but one thing I have respected about this tip calculator was the simple fact that it did the job better than other tip calculators out there and considering that it was free, it made them more respectable. It showed that they can develop apps that were better than the rest and yet gave it away for free. Now, this tip calculator is on the band wagon and duped all long time supporters to having to pay for the app if they want no nagging on their screen. ✓ Terrible after updateLove this app prior to the update. Now, even though there is a space for tax, it has only one slot! There are 3 taxes here in Canada, provincial, GST and liquor. Most bills show those separately so can't just type in a tax total without having to manually add all 3! Also, the tip is on a touch slide and hard to get the % you want. Same with # of people. Very cumbersome and no longer user friendly. Glad I didn't pay for it. Please try to fix!.Version: 0

✓ Sorry Guys....I was on the fence with this app and was trying to choose between it and another app that does the same thing. I was kind of leaning towards this one because while the interface is a bit...well ugly, it was a tad easier to navigate than the other one. It's fate was sealed for me however when the update added ads. I see enough of those surfing the net, I don't need them on my iPhone as well and especially not after spending money on a meal. ✓ From full version updated to lite??Not impressed. I had the original version which appeared to be the full version with no ads. Seems to be that during an update, it has been changed to a lite version. I understand vendors and developers wanting to make some money on things but if you offer the complete version for free, don't make a future update cause it to be a lite version just because you now charge for the full one..Version: 0
✓ Great app for the priceDoes exactly what it says it will. I haven't had any crashes with this app as some others might have reported. The only thing is I wish it would show the whole tax on the main screen instead of to only one decimal place. Our tax here is 8.25%, and you can enter 8.25 on the pref screen but it only says 8.2% on the main screen. I haven't checked whether it's still using 8.25 as I put in, but it would be nice to have it show what I put in on the main screen..Version: 0

✓ Once you get used to it, it is quite handyI used v2 while in the US and it worked a charm. This new layout makes it even easier to use and the fact that it is possible to revert the screen back to the old version is good. It is pretty much self intuitive the tip % and number of people sharing is not obvious on the new layout (need discreet labels perhaps). I haven't noticed whether it shows £ or $ but for me it is just a decimal. Some people may need extra help with changing that currency sign to help them make sense of it. Still, it would be good if you can select the currency though, maybe as a next update, or have a help screen for those who may need it. I know that when I go to different countries, the coinage and notes always confuses me (for example which is a nickel, or a quarter or a dime - what it looks like and its cent value etc.) and whilst this falls outside of what this app does, it would definitely add to the appeal of a very nice app..Version: 0
✓ Deleted and switched to BigTipperThis was a decent tip calc until the spam got added in version 3.3. I've now tried many of tip calculators in the app store and trust me when I say BigTipper is totally worth the money! It supports tons of options, including your choice of sliders or buttons, rounding up, down or mirroring, a "drinker" feature where you can spilt up a meal based on who had bar beverages and who didn't, meal history and more! BigTipper is well worth the $ for its elegant design; id highly recommend checking it out instead of paying for the ad-free version of CheckPlease (which used to be OK as an ad-free tip calculator, but not any more.).Version: 0
✓ Is it just me or the math wrong?Why is tax taken out? I'm not sure why there's even a spot for tax. Most if not all places will give you the Check Total with tax included. The price divided between the party without tax included doesn't represent the real Grand Total Amount. If so, who pays the tax at the end? I ended up just leaving tax at 0% because its not needed. ✓ TipsOk, so i like that they ut 15% for the tip, but that should be bare minimum for any restaurant. I work in a restaurant, and i have to tip out four percent to the other staff, and at least 1 percent to a breaker. plus our dinner is not free... so say my sales are 1000 dollars. and if everyone tips 15%, im definitely walking with less that 100 dollars, which is not enough for what we have to deal with. And im gonna rant a little here.... people, when u go to a restaurant... realize that u are not the only person in the world, and that the person waiting on u is indeed a PERSON..Version: 0

✓ Useless updateDon't update! I made the mistake and I updated to the new version. I lost the functionality to see the dollar amount after choosing the tip percentage. Why would you remove this feature? I now have to use my calculator to calculate my tip so I can know how much to leave. Therefore once I do that in my calculator all I have to do is divide by how many people there are and I get my answer while using my calculator. So why would I use this app now? ✓ Too bulky, too limitedI tried to use this at a restaurant the other day, with no success. Buggy: it doesn't seem to recognize your default tax and tip percentages, and you can't type them directly in, you have to slide little sliders. Very unwieldy navigation for getting information quickly. I also wanted to calculate tips for a check not evenly split (my sister only ordered a shake while I ordered a meal), but that would mean I would have to do separate calculations for each of us (four at the table).
