✓ Sound is goneI downloaded this chess application for my grandfather and he likes the sound but it has disappeared and I've tried everything to get it back. Any ideas on how to fix it?.Version: 1.20
✓ DON'T JUST TAKE MY QUEEN YOU INEPT COMPUTEROkay, I started playing chess against my dad from when I was about 10 years old (that I can remember) till his death when I was 40. I NEVER beat him once. He was the most brilliant man I ever knew. He played DEEP BLUE on the computer and he beat that, so I hope I have your attention. I then took up playing a mean second rate game against an inept husband who boosted my ego by losing every time. He didnt lose on purpose, he was just useless. So we packed our board/bored (pun intended) game away, and I lost my interest in chess. I mean it wasn't like I was any good anyway. Then my sons bought me an I-pad for my birthday, and I started downloading magazines, sudoku, face book and every other app I could use (in the meantime I still have nearly 100 books to read on my kindle, read 48 in the one year I've had it) so I'm a bit overloaded here. I downloaded chess. Set it at about 50% on the slide rule, and most of the time I can win. BUT, AND IT'S A BIG BUT, who wrote this program? Nowhere have any of the chess masters, Kasparov or whoever, put his queen at risk by taking the oppositions queen. You TREASURE your queen. She can make or break the game. I get so p....d off when this game takes my queen with the obvious that I am now going to take its queen. NUTS. So for that dismal failure in its programming, I give it 2 stars. Let's see how long this bored game will last?.Version: 1.20
✓ Pretty decentWorks well with two players..Version: 1.20
✓ Not particularly impressedOk, this program does what it's supposed to do, that is play a game of chess with multiple levels of difficulty. That said, I started via a difficulty level of about 25% of max, and the game it played was a bit ridiculous. Also, unless I'm missing something the chess board does not rotate when you rotate the iPad. I'll give this three stars meaning it's serviceable, however I'll be looking for a different chess game..Version: 1.50
✓ Solid chess appThis is a fun, accessible chess program. It offers a decent opponent which plays in a variety of styles, depending on the difficulty you set. Some of the openings used by the AI remind me of off-the-wall play by friends of mine, but I suspect that is the point. On the highest level it is quite challenging for any standard player. I would rate this 3 1/2 stars if I could. To get a four-star rating, the game would have to be playable in landscape view, which it isn't currently, and the overall options are rather limited. But for the price, I've gotten a good deal of enjoyment from the app..Version: 1.20
✓ App won’t connectI have used this app for years but recently it will disconnect when I try to enter the game. It used to work well now, all I get is music while looking at the opening screen..Version: 1.86
✓ Slow and buggy ... Not as good as free versionI paid the fee to buy the upgraded version of chess without the ads since the free version was ok. Unfortunately, the paid version plays slower and has several bugs; at times the computer playing side will "cheat" e.g. move a pawn horizontally (like a rook) or advance (4) spaces forward at a time, at which point the game is over because it will keep trying to do the same crazy move again even if you hit "undo". It gets worse, towards the endgame, pieces will freeze movement or even disappear for no reason. Last, when it is advancing a pawn towards being promoted, it will give it the move powers of the queen before it even reaches the final row ... This can't be undone, ending the game. If you try to speed the game up, the computer just plays poorly, making dumb moves. Not a completely horrible app, but not more than 1 star.Version: 1.65
✓ Fix screen rotateEven when clicked inoptions, the screen will not rotate. This is true of both iPad and iPhone..Version: 1.96
✓ 0.99 cents for CHESS99 cents to remove the adds! No problem. But 5 or 6 moves into the game......and the machine takes a few seconds to THINK!!!! I found this TIME TO THINK from a computer in the 21 st. Century mind boggling! Also very FRUSTRATING as i enjoy fast chess. I went back to the original free chess game, ads and all, only to find the same thing occurred. After the first few moves the machine takes time TO THINK, Please delete this "virus" as soon as possible. Peter kis. I would like my money refunded!.Version: 1.10

✓ AlmostThe game is really cool but I can't see what I have killed (rooks and stuff) I also don't like how fast the computer go's and how the counter counts up so you get no time for thinking. The computer should take a longer time and the counter should count down from one min and if you run out of time it skips your turn..Version: 1.20

✓ Nice Program but has some quirksThis is a nice program - good graphics and good play with a good chess engine, but seems a bit buggy. A couple features that would make it nicer would be some sort of display of pieces taken in the game and an ability to evidence the move history of the current game while in the game. Shows occasional errors such as announcing checkmate when the king is not in check and removing pieces from the board without actually using anything to take them. (Have reported these with screenshots). A bit irritating in a paid game..Version: 1.20
✓ GoodVery nice game, looks great and I play it loads, but why no scoring or visual area to see which pieces are off the board. and no visible last move by your opponent, so if I miss what my opponent has done I have either to work it out or undo and replay my move. ✓ FlawAs others have said landscape does not work. I can turn auto rotate on or turn it off, either way the screen will not move from portrait orientation. Those folks that say the app works perfectly must not be trying to use landscape. If anyone has been able to rotate this app to landscape orientation please post here. I only gave two stars for a good app because my cover/stand requires landscape and the app claims to accommodate same. Therefore I rarely play the game..Version: 1.10
