Gourmet Traveller for Negative User Reviews

Nothing free here. Move along! This app is nothing more than a front for in app purchases. I really hate that. Not even a free mag. Deleted.Version: 1.4.1

Love this mag - not really loving the appAs my title says...love the magazine - not really loving the app as it doesn't really do anything. Would be cool to receive even a sampler of the magazine?.Version: 1.6.1

Wish for a searchable database of back issuesWish list: 1. I have purchased the issue online so would like the ability to also view on my laptop which is synched to my iPad. 2. I have been a subscriber to (paper copy) Gourmet Traveller from 1997 to Dec 2011 and switched to an online subscription because I could not part with a single copy and ran out of storage space. I'd keep the year index issues separate to go through when looking for a particular recipe or inspiration. It would be great if there could be a searchable database that could refer to the year, month and page number so that I could dive into my collection to locate a recipe..Version: 1.6.1

An update to clear bad reviewsIt feels like the ACP Magazines' apps have been updated to hide all of the bad reviews. Instead of sticking your head in the sand why not listen to the reviewers and reduce the price as there is no justification for the outrageous prices. No print costs and limited distribution costs equal an opportunity to increase readership and therefore increase advertising dollars. Yes, you have to change your business model!.Version: 0

Gourmet Traveller on IPadI love Gourmet Traveller in hard copy to the point where my husband is feeling over whelmed by the stacks of them that sit in my studio and on our coffee table -in the kitchen and the bedroom! I was so excited to think that I could have my copy on my new iPad ... And paid the subscription for the first two months ..... a week ago I saw my receipt from iTunes come in via my email - for the next two editions ... April and May 2012 - so with great excitement I opened my iPad to see the new issue ...but what do I find ..the app has the cover displayed - but also has a box with the option to pay for the new subscription even though I have just paid it? So I am not impressed ... I sent two emails to the only help I could find last night direct to the magazine but have not had any email response even though this was promised .... So if you want to play in the eWorld you will have to start talking to iTunes and make sure you accounting is synchronized - I will be contacting them tomorrow when I have a moment. I will cancel my subscription If you cannot guarantee proper accounting and delivery to my Bookshelf properly! And I will be tempted to spread the word .......Beware!!! With thanks Wyn.Version: 1.6.1

No customer serviceI have had a gourmet traveller subscription but had to reset my iPad and now can’t login. I have email Gourmet Traveller to fix but have had no reply. Very poor customer service..Version: 8.0

Why?New update is terrible. Can't open the Sept 17 version for more than 30 seconds without it crashing, and in those 30 seconds before the crash, it is almost impossible to change pages. I have been a subscriber to the e version for 4 years and will be discontinuing if this isn't fixed..Version: 6.1

Better than freighting a hard copy to the StatesTo read this magazine I'd normally have to subscribe to the paper version & have it shipped from Australia to the US. I appreciate that I can buy it electronically from this app. The navigation took a little getting used to but once I got the hang of it I quite liked it..Version: 1.5.0

You broke it againAfter reverting for an all too brief period to the user friendly, interactive version of the app that I loved, the April 18 edition is once again little more than a PDF of the magazine. Disappointing and hugely frustrating..Version: 7.8

No access to mag despite subscriptionUnable to sign in on app and view magazine despite being charged for a 1 year subscription. No response to emails asking for it to be sorted out. Very poor service..Version: 1.12.15

Version 9 is terribleI can’t access my back issues (which I cook from more frequently than recent ones). I won’t be renewing.Version: 9.0

PreviewAfter downloading this app with the promise of a preview I got to view one more page than on the app teaser - puts one off really.Version: 0

Lost in SpaceWell I liked the magazine and was willing to pay for it, but the last time I attempted to download an issue I lost all but one of my purchased issues but one, and that was an old one, not the one I had just paid for. Never did get that downloaded. No matter how many times I hit "restore purchases" nothing was restored and the issues are floating around somewhere in space between here and Australia. And the issues do cost way too much..Version: 0

ProblematicPaid for 3 mth subscription which the site acknowledges I have paid for yet I am unable to download the new edition unless I pay again ( which I did). It has become an expensive app. Have sent two emails for help but no response. Great content but unfortunately inaccessible.Version: 1.6.1

DownloadsI too have had problems downloading the last 3 months. The first 10 were fine. The disappointing thing is when I contacted the subscription department I had an excellent conversation with one of the people in there, who although wasn't a techie would make enquiries and someone would contact me that afternoon. That was 3 Fridays ago. Not caring for customers is the fastest way I know of losing subscriptions. Although the production values are excellent, support is what will keep people loyal. We all know technology is not infallible. The market for this type of product is crowded and rivals have offerings just as good, eg Cuisine.Version: 1.4.2

Terrible App not functioning! So frustrating.... Love the magazine but this app continuously crashes and shuts down. Can't get past 2 pages and it crashes. I've wasted too much time trying to figure out issue. Will be canceling subscription and need a refund. Terrible app seriously... What a shame..Version: 6.1

BugConstantly trying to get me to subscribe when I have already purchased subscription and logged in..Version: 8.0

Mrs AJRLove the magazine, downloads are buggy and fail sometimes. Once download great to read.Version: 1.5.0

Unfriendly layoutThe new layout is terribly bad and small. It’s very hard to read the recipes now. Looks very much like a copy of Saveur magazine. I’ve complained a few times but have had no response..Version: 7.8

Permission to read EXPIRED?!I won’t be back. Seriously?.Version: 7.17

Standards droppingThis is the comment I made when AGT went digital for the first time. “This is one of the best applications transferring hard copy content to digital format that I have come across. Your IT and design people should be congratulated for providing an excellent user interface without losing the AGT hard copy feel that I have enjoyed for more than twenty years.” Since the change of ownership of the magazine and the very obvious cuts in their budget AGT has become a shadow of its former self. Syndicated articles from elsewhere in the Bauer empire with little relevance to the Australian context, political editorials which are better left to our news papers, downgrading and dumbing down of recipe content all have contributed to my new rating. I have noticed with the replacement of the editor that there has been a slight improvement in content, hence my rating of three stars. From a subscriber of more than 25 years..Version: 7.16

New Version of the app is terribleIt now reads like GT have taken the paper version and thrown it up on line. This app used to lead the market. The user experience is terrible. I’m canceling my subscription..Version: 7.6

Disappointing customer serviceI have a subscription and have been unable to download my paid for magazines. Contacted them over a week ago and nothing. Waste of money.Version: 1.6.1

Not greatSlow to download, expensive and no zoom. Text is blurred and magazine is hard to navigate.Version: 0

Not a free app!Publishers need to take a clue.... Is 5.99 in Australian dollars which are much much different than USdollars? I deleted app. It shouldn't be in free app..Version: 0

App not working!Been a subscriber through the app for 10+ years. The app refuses to open since the app update three weeks ago. Just a black screen, then after 20-30 seconds it closes. Love the mag, I bought it religious when I lived in Oz and missing my bit of home. Fix the bug guys!.Version: 8.0

Complete disdain for your audience/ customersA completely unreadable (on the intended device) piece of junk. Bauer and the the editorial team should be embarrassed and ashamed..Version: 7.8

You could be so good for me.When this app works it's a winner. The addition of iPad specific content is deftly executed and I love having multiple copies of the mag with me wherever I go. BUT... I'm stuck in a doom loop; I'm trying to download the latest version and I get redirected to the purchase screen. I figure my subscription must have expired so I authorise a new subscription and get a message saying I'm already subscribed until April next year, so I try to download the latest version and I get redirected to the purchase screen... So as god as the mag is, it's useless if I can't actually read it. My advice: stick with the paper version until these guys get it right; there's no point spending your money if you can't get hold of the goods..Version: 1.7.1

Good for browsing but more features neededI really enjoyed reading the magazine this way. In fact, I prefer reading it on my iPad to reading the hard copy version. I can also imagine cooking recipes using the ipad in the kitchen. However, a few really useful features are missing... BOOKMARKS: the bookmarking feature is really limited... 1. The bookmark list is in a small pop up menu and can't be viewed on the whole screen. 2. The recipes are not listed in the bookmarks by under the recipe title. The article title is used instead, which makes finding particular recipes in the list difficult. 3. There is no way of sorting the bookmarked recipes into lists or folders. 4. There does not appear to be a way of removing bookmarks. Am I missing something here? SHARING: it would be great to be able to share individual recipes, eg by having an email to friend option..Version: 0

Would give no stars if I couldThe new format in the September edition is awful. Not interactive, diffucult to manouver around, unable to link to articles from contents or index. Seems like some of the articles are greatly reduced..Version: 6.1

Not workingThe newest upgrade is not working for me. I have been subscribing to the digital version since inception. I cannot see any magazine earlier than 2022 and despite many emails to support have had no response. I have lost over 10 years of recipes. I would give 0 stars if it were possible..Version: 9.0

Don't waste your money$5.99 per issues is way too much money for an electronic format magazine.Version: 1.3.1

Don't save your favoritesThis is a fantastic magazine offline. Online you have to manually type in recipe names before saving/bookmarking. But when they upgraded the app, the hours I spent saving recipes were all wiped. I had to restore all my purchases, without the bookmarks. I contacted the magazine who pretty much said their clients would all have to start over. Not wasting my time again only to have it happen during their next upgrade....Version: 6.0

And back to being just a PDF readerGreat content, but not at all optimised for tablet. It’s quite unpleasant zooming in and out of a magazine page. Was much better when GT made a proper interactive edition..Version: 7.8

8.0 update prevents access to all content - bewareWe updated to 8.0 last week. This version displays a black screen for a few seconds then crashes. No response from the support email address. Avoid..Version: 8.0

Broke it againJust when I thought it was safe to renew my subscription, you have broken the app again. It is back to being a PDF, not the interactive magazine that I loved..Version: 7.6

Beautiful but misses the pointIt looks beautiful, and I like the layout with a recipe per page so I could use it for cooking. BUT As a print magazine subscriber I'd like a way to access the app. That could be forgiven however, if they hadn't blocked the ability to share on linked iPads. My partner isn't able to access the content. This is unlike any other magazine app we have downloaded. This is completely counter intuitive to a magazine app - especially one that charges the same as the print version for each edition..Version: 0

SubscriptionRead permission expires after several months and request to renew appear at a cost of $3.99. This is unreasonable for a product that has been purchased already.Version: 7.17

Should be free for existing mag subscribersThe online iPad version Should be free for existing hard copy magazine subscribers... Doesn't really give you this month's issue to "see how the mag looks". You still need to purchase at $5.99 per issue. Good idea to complement my mag subscription but not when you have to pay for both versions..Version: 0

Would give minus stars if I couldDownload and keeps asking for ‘secure connection’ and won’t download new or old purchase. Preview has gone. Terrible organisation. “Not happy Jan!”.Version: 7.8

UselessIt would have been useful to know that downloading the APP does nothing more than give you the OPP to buy the magazine. Couldn't get it off my home screen fast enough..Version: 0

Definitely problematicGreat publication but certainly problematic. Worked a treat and content superb until any app updates……then it all goes wrong! Support takes days to respond (if your lucky) and they blame you or Apple and never take responsibility themselves or followup on staff promises. Meanwhile the customer is left in the lurch. Don't get me wrong is a great publication but a real shame about the delivery method and lack of support to simply provide what you have paid for. Buyer beware!.Version: 1.11.0

Not really free and terribly slowTo call this a free app is misleading. The reader itself is free but it comes with no free content so surely its false advertising. The magazine web page has loads of free content so why not put some of that on the app to wet the consumers appetite. The other big issue is that it takes forever to download. For the july issue more than an hour. i subscribe to a number of Mags through Zinio. These mags download within a few minutes and also allow you to start reading during the download unfortunately the same cant be said about gourmet traveller. As always the magazine itself is great but the app needs serious improvement.Version: 0

Not the bestDifficult to navigate, why not just page by page. No zoom?????? Text Sometimes not clear, but mainly very hard to navigate and not to miss anything!!.Version: 1.3.1
