✓ High score goodnessVlambeer and Halfbot have created an amazingly addictive game with Super Crate box. This game has the running, gunning, and weapon collecting of Contra. Mixed in with this is the single screen mazes of Pacman. Throw in some great pixel art and funky chip tunes, and that sums up Super Crate Box pretty well. I would give this game a five star rating but I find the controls can be a wee bit frustrating on rare occasions. Some of the better touch controls I've used in an app, but I still find myself zigging when I'm pretty darn sure I zagged every now and then. It would be great if we could mess around with the button placement, opacity, and size in the options. Looking forward to other Vlambeer iOS games!.Version: 1.1
✓ IOS 8 broke sfxI love Vlambeer games, and SCB is one of my favourite, however ever since I updated to iOS 8, there are no sfx in the game. The music still plays but the sounds are gone entirely. ✓ SCB goes in my hall of fameI have been playing this game for years now and still love it. It's hard as balls which makes it all the more satisfying when you actually accomplish something. The controls are super tight. When you die, it's your fault, which is perfect. It's an honest platformer. You can only blame yourself. A refresh for bigger screens would be a welcome update that might also introduce an entirely new audience to the game. THANK YOU VLAMBEER!! Dont know why people are saying the controls are bad, they work perfectly for me... The only three issues are: Hit detection is a bit off, which can be annoying. I'm hooked, hence the title of this review :) The retro graphics work perfectly with the gameplay and give it the feel of an old arcade game. Tight, responsive controls make it a joy to play and the instant reset after a death puts you straight back into the action. I'm not fond of the new icon, preferred the original. The weapons are epic, and even if you suck at it, you will unlock them all if you put your mind to it. The controls are pretty perfect. ✓ Excellent arcade shooter/platformerI hadn't played this online before buying it but decided to take the plunge on the strengths of the reviews it's been getting, and I'm glad I did. Controls are great on iPad (iCade support too, woo!) and almost as good as can be expected on iPhone. They perhaps should rework the layout of the A and B buttons on iPhone as at times I wasn't firing when I thought my finger would be over the button. Another downside on playing on iPhone is sometimes crates appear under your thumbs so you're not immediately aware of the crate. ✓ Painful but greatI actually deleted this game minutes after buying it out of sheer frustration, but for the next few days I kept getting a weird nagging desire to play it. Eventually I relented, and after playing for about 20 minutes I had to restrain myself from deleting it again. So why 4 stars? Because I keep being drawn back to it. The gameplay reminds me weirdly of online multiplayer deathmatches; constantly moving, flanking, dodging, and of course dying repeatedly. ✓ Awesome game!My friend turned me onto this game back when I still had an iPhone 3, and have continued to play on my 5. I really enjoy just jumpin' around and blowin' up those little monsters. Some glitchy things happen sometimes as others have mentioned, such as the grenade launcher failing to fire, or getting stuck on a ledge. Those aren't a huge deal. I've even grown accustomed to playing quite well on the 5 despite the game not filling the entire screen. However, there is one glitch that continues to interfere with my ability to play. For some reason, on occasion the game will pause when I rapidly change direction and fire my weapon in order to save my character or clear the path. Update was due at 40mil(months ago). doubt anyone really cares as long as there is an update down the line eventually. ✓ Brutal old school mayhemThe original and the best. Muffin Knight is a good game too, but the simple graphics of Super Crate Box make it much easier on the eye - and on the iPhone's small screen this is a must. Brutal difficulty level, but satisfying when you survive for long enough to beat your personal best score. Controls are fantastic - when you die it's your own fault (the way it should be). ✓ Great game! But one problemFirst I'd like to say that this game is extremely addicting. The first day I got it (on computer) I played it for about 5 hours straight. However, I am on the 5s and whenever I hit one of the buttons (not sure if it's A or B) and simultaneously accidentally touch the black bars (even slightly) the game pauses. This can be extremely annoying and happens to me all the time. I'm not sure if this is an intended feature that isn't very useful or If it's a bug. ✓ Great game.Sharing Super Meat Boy-style sensibilities and a great soundtrack, this is brilliant. The controls require you to be a bit more precise than I currently am, but I expect that time will sort that out. This does get incredibly hard (I consider myself quite good at 2D platformers and I can only get 10 crates at the best of times on the first 2 levels), which I can see being a problem for some, but I love a challenge..Version: 1.0

Game Center achievements don't always unlock. 2. Your character can get stuck on the corners of some platforms. 3. The grenade launcher sometimes stops firing entirely. Not entirely a bug, but the controls stink. Better would be to triple the width of the right arrow and B button. That way, when ones grip shifts due to inevitable excitement, one wouldn't die because one's thumb is 1/16" too far Ieft. I still adore the game, tho. But it anyways..Version: 1.1.6

The definition of "just one more go", I love the pixel art and chip tune music, definitely prefer the old icon though, I also think that the splash screen would look cool with a more pixelated style. ✓ Needs a bug fixThis game is great, I’ve been playing it since 2013 but it needs a bug fix. It has this glitch where if you click the left button it gets stuck stays moving you left. It has killed me a lot of times and gets pretty annoying. Also I feel like there should be an option to increase the button size for people with bigger fingers.
