Good Food: Recipe Finder for Negative User Reviews

DisappointingUPDATED: Recipe books are suddenly deleted and replaced with paid for versions that you have to download and then won't even open in the new update. Even more disappointing. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This app looks beautiful and has some nice features, like the ability to add ingredients for multiple recipes to a shopping list. However, the number of recipes is extremely limited and you seem to have to download "cookbooks" in order to expand the selection. It would be nice if this connected the great app features with the existing website, which has many, many recipes without having to select cookbooks..Version: 1.4

CrashesCrashes every time I click on recipe..Version: 2.2.24

More bugs since it was “fixed”This app has always had “missing” features such as reviews but I found being able to save recipes and create folder extremely useful. Since the app has been upgraded or updated or whatever work has been done, the “save” feature no longer works. Every time I click “save” the whole app closes. I sent feedback and was advised to check im on the most recent version (I am) and send screenshots... not sure what good a shot of a closed app will do??! Please fix this bug, it’s an annoyance from what was my favourite cooking app..Version: 2.2.9

Limited recipes - pointlessNowhere near enough free recipes to make this useful. Eg only two vegetarian recipes! You need to pay to get more. Much easier to keep using their website..Version: 1.3

Good collection but app is buggyWhen you try looking at a second recipe, it still displays the one you looked at the first time. Then crashes. :-(.Version: 1.6.1

Content disappeared, app crashes, no longer a useful appDear developer, the only available version of the app in the Apple App Store is 3.0.6. It is impossible to download an older version. And yes, it still does not work! I had a ton of purchased recipes for the older version of this app, but it’s all gone with no way to get it back. Restore purchases crashes the app. There’s no content in my account on the website, and no one to contact about this. App is now completely useless for me..Version: 3.0.6

Don't botherSaw a great recipe for pork roast on the site and decided to dload the app. Searched for pork roast, roast pork but no results, crazy. Will stick to the website from now on..Version: 1.6.1

Why the new paywallI’ve been using this app for years, and it’s gotten me through a lot of cupboard cooking weeks. I can’t believe that it’s all subscription based now. There’s not even an option to not be a basic account and just have access to the features that was part of the app before hand. It was perfectly good before. Surely it makes more sense for master classes to be held on the website version of good food more that on a portable device. It’s easy to have my phone in the kitchen while I cook, but now that I’m only allowed to use the website I have to deal with a poor mobile interface or bring my whole desk top into the kitchen with me? Ridiculous..Version: 3.0.1

Collections feature does NOT WORKI’ve never had to write a review for an app before but it’s so frustrating that all my collections have disappeared for no reason. I created another collection again, added my recipes to it, then for some weird reason it either doesn’t let me add some at all, or it adds a completely different recipe from the one I’ve selected. So my ‘Veggie’ collection now contains various meat inclusive recipes. Rather frustrating! For reference I use an iPhone 8, and have never had a problem with any app in 12 years of App Store apps. This is the first ever to just not function properly with a basic task. Please fix!.Version: 2.2.12

Doesn't work anymoreAfter the last update, none of the cookbooks are opening. Th app just forces close. Frustrating! Please fix.Version: 1.4

Rien en françaisRien.Version: 2.2.7

What's wrong?It won't download...please fix!.Version: 1.5

AwfulI have paid for a year subscription but the app kept crashing. Previously uninstalling and reinstalling fixed this so I uninstalled it but now after reinstalling I can’t access it. When I attempt to open the app I am asked to pay for a new subscription but if I click restore purchases then the app closes down. I’ve tried emailing the good food team about this and was first told it was fixed (it wasn’t) and now I’ve been waiting for months for someone to pick up my job. When I complained I was told to use the website but this doesn’t give you access to the “exclusive” recipes and the ease of access that comes from using an app. Wish I had never paid for this subscription, completely wasted my money..Version: 3.0.4

It was good and now it’s notDecent choice of recipes and lots of ideas, but the thing I pay for: ability to save recipes and organise them into collections hasn’t worked for weeks. The latest release which was supposed to fix the problem hasn’t improved things at all. So I’d save your money and just use the free version and deal with the ads Update: the latest version has fixed the problem with missing saved recipes, but there’s now a problem adding new recipes to my saved collections. Another error message - apparently it’s being fixed… But I still don’t think it’s worth the price at the moment.Version: 229.0.1

Sad just sadThis has been my absolute favourite app for YEARS AND YEARS on end, I have loved it the recipes are great and just you can’t find what this app has on other apps but to say the least I am INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED that the app has gone subscription only after all these years this delightful free app now costs me like $14 month it’s not like it’s had an incredible update with loads of new exciting recipes its the same old app costing me more than to buy the ingredients to one of the recipes. DISAPPOINTED.Version: 3.0.1

US version not U.K.Pancakes, bacon flour is all us brands.Version: 2.2.12

Very disappointingWon't even open on my iPod - just freezes and then crashes..Version: 1.6.2

Great recipes, good app, poor supportI had this app and all the optional cookbooks on my previous iPad and found it very useful with some tasty recipes. Unfortunately, there is no 'restore previous purchase' option, so I no longer have access to the optional cookbooks and a month later I still haven't received a reply to my query/comment about this made via their feedback link..Version: 1.3

Now UselessIt worked perfectly fine before, and I used it often. Now, after the recent “upgrade” it is slow to load and crashes when you try to save a recipe. Went from a five star app to zero..Version: 2.2.11

You have to create an account to use it at all.Insta-delete.Version: 2.2.7

Stick to the web!Sorry guys, but the app looked promising! Stick to the website for the great recipes, here they want to empty your pocket before you can even start cooking! Taking the app off, so not worth it.Version: 1.5

Good but needs refiningNot as intuitive as I would have hoped. Recipes well written and researched.Version: 75.0.3

RubbishFirst they force you to subscribe and provide personal details. Then they want you to pay for information that you can get for free by doing a search on Safari. Just a money grab!.Version: 181.2.1

Don't BotherTried this App twice with an interval in-between, hoping an update would allow me to access my Binder. Hopeless! And no reply when I emailed support. Try elsewhere!.Version: 1.6.2

Sadly can’t read reviews.I’ve used the website for years. The app certainly navigates around the recipe database very rapidly on the iPad and I’ve found recipes quicker than on the website. Others have complained about the adverts but this is no worse than on the website and I guess they need a revenue stream. The biggest disappointment is that you can’t read the reviews on the recipes. The star rating is all well and good but I’ve always found the reviews contain many helpful suggestions for making or tweaking the recipes. This is to me an essential component missing from the app, hence only three stars..Version: 2.2.7

Thank you good food (NOT) 😡😡🤬Well this was a great app….until the new update meaning I now have to pay $50 a year to continue using the recipes I had…..thanks for nothing. Unsubscribed and deleted..Version: 3.0.1

Rubbish UXSo I can google a recipe online and have done for ages, but I thought I’d down load the app. Going round six times to try and sign I. With apple and then when I search the recipe (available through google) it’s behind a paywall. Deleted straight away and disappointed..Version: 167.0.1

Not the same experience at all, hate itI have always loved this app and happily switched over to a paid subscription when it was introduced, BUT I absolutely hate the new/updated app! Where are all the different sections gone?? Being able to easily filter to different calorie meals was brilliant, plus all the other options, healthy meals, tray bake cakes, quick dinners, breakfast etc etc etc, all gone. Why?? Please don’t say i can use the search option, its not the same at all. As an example, I put in tray bake cakes into the search field and it brought a whole load of stuff that has no relation to tray bake never mind cakes 🙄. The whole point of those sections was to open them and get ideas under any genre, type, meal time etc. I’m afraid I'm cancelling my subscription.Version: 75.0.3

Money grabCan’t even get the first recipe before it is asking me for money. I don’t mind paying for a good app but want to try it first. Unimpressed..Version: 246.0.1

Can’t save to foldersI used to love this app. I try to eat seasonally so it helped me to build a library of recipes depending on the month. Then one day (possibly after an update) it comes up with an error when o try and save anything to a folder. It’s now gone from being an app I used everyday day to just annoying. Please can this be fixed? Update: I left this review in November after struggling with the app before it became a paid for service. I’d already reached out for support but with no response. The developer replied to my review asking me to email them. This I’ve done twice since November and still don’t have a response. So I am today cancelling my free trial. I would have paid for the app as I’ve put so much time into it but it’s now unworkable and without support to get it fixed there’s just no point. If you’re going to make the decision to turn a free se4vice into a paid one you at least need to make sure the app is working and that you have adequate support in place..Version: 3.0.1

Too expensiveThe price is too expensive, are there any discounts?.Version: 208.2.0

Not freeApp has only extremely limited free section and charges for access to cookbooks, which are easy to accidentally click in to..Version: 1.3

What happened?I absolutely adore this app to the point of actually spending money in it but its usual super slow start up has been replaced by no start up at all. It won't open or load, it just crashes and this is annoying me as some of my absolute favourite recipes are on here. Please fix this problem. I want to be able to make yummy food again..Version: 1.6.2

App CrashesApp crashes regularly when scrolling after search. Practically unusable natural times had to resort to the browser site.Version: 2.2.12

Great additional resourceI’ve an excellent collection of cookbooks but I find using GF app give me other choices and nutritional breakdowns. The ‘enable cooking’ mode is useful as is the ability to move recipes from folder to folder to reorganise collections..Version: 2.2.25

Awful serviceWorst service ever! Very irresponsible! Their customer service is awful! They charged me on their own, sent me a box I had never ordered!.Version: 2.2.7

Latest update or the one before= kaput! As the title says. I cannot even open the GF app. Sad face..Version: 3.0.3

Nothing for freeClassic bait and switch. You can download the free app, but you can’t actually get to the recipes without subscribing and paying..Version: 250.0.1

ConfusedWhy should I pay for recipes when I get get them for free online!.Version: 1.5

Good idea, but with major flawLoving this app for ease of searching, clarity and style of each recipe’s instructions, and the breadth of recipes on offer. One point needing to be fixed however: when organising the recipes into “collections” (which takes some time to complete), this appears to work well UNTIL exiting and, later on, re-opening the app. When re-opened, the individual recipes are still saved BUT the collections have disappeared (and so need to be set up again). This would be a really good app if this glitch could be fixed. (I’m running the app on iOS.).Version: 2.2.13

CrashesApp crashes every time I try to look at the ingredients very disappointing..Version: 1.4

Overpriced paywallThe app used to be a good way to save recipes without having to rely on bookmarks. But now, after being encouraged to move our recipe collections there, it’s all been put behind a paywall. I don’t have an issue with a premium version of the app but £4.50 a month, just to access a list of recipes I’ve favourited, isn’t in line with some of the other pricing in the market. And I get the argument that it’s to help provide more premium features but then why not provide tiers, with a free or cheap option for those of us that just use it to bookmark interesting recipes and a premium experience for those that have apparently been clamouring for it? Really this whole thing makes it feel like the brand isn’t actually interested in casual users and is happy to sacrifice us for the sake of milking those willing or able to pay a lot more. Feels like a pretty silly misstep and not really in line with the site’s previous ethos. Sadly, while the recipes are generally pretty great, I’m not sure I think paying the equivalent of a full magazine subscription to favourite a few recipes is worth it. For people just looking to store a couple of their favourite meals, I’d honestly look elsewhere..Version: 3.0.1

App seems a big buggy - server errorsWhile the app is working, it seems fabulous. But I keep getting server errors. I’ll go to save a recipe and all of a sudden, my collection isn’t there. I’ll do a search and getting errors. It seems to be server timeout errors? I am accessing from North America so that could be root cause..Version: 3.0.2

Recipes disappearingI log in to my good food app everyday. Today I open the app and a lot of the recipes I had carefully saved over the years have disappeared. I have whole empty folders now. This isn’t the first time this has happened. So frustrating!! But at least it’s a memory test for me to remember what I had and add them again 😣.Version: 2.2.13

App is becoming subscription based and doesn’t even feel like it’s warrantedAs the title says. Not going to pay for something that has been free for years, the service has never had enough benefits or been good enough to warrant a price, especially the app’s functionality. I’ll just stick to free websites and cookbooks I can get from Kindle for pocket change. Pros- when you actually find a decent recipe the instructions are well laid out Bookmarking recipes is useful, albeit flawed, but still a necessity and heavy used to make the app more convenient. Cons- Search features a chore. Multiple versions of the exact same recipe Random log outs App crashes, randomly and unpredictably. Especially annoying when your deep into a search and find a recipe you might like but don’t get chance to bookmark it Bookmarking while also beneficial is cumbersome and feels tacked on Its now going to become chargeable when there are much better free options available. If I were to pay for this kind if service I'd buy something I pay for once and keep, like cookbooks and the like. I wouldn’t continuously pay for a service to access the exact same pieces of content every now and again..Version: 2.2.26

The new update ruined the usability of the appThe new update from early October rendered one my favorite apps nearly useless. You need to log in every time you open the app, and the app now takes you to the website which makes it difficult to use on the phone due to incessant pop ups. It’s very difficult to search for recipes on the webpage. Worst of all, you no longer are able to save favorite recipes in self-made lists. The app needs to go back to the previous version, where recipes are located simply in the app, not taking the user online. Developers need to make the search functioning more user friendly, and allow for users to save recipes to groups..Version: 2.2.12

App blows up when i search a recipeI got the app back on my phone and signed in with my Apple ID but when ever i use search in the app it blows up and takes me back to my Home Screen. I have closed it in the background and reopened it but same thing. Not loving it -.Version: 3.0.1

DisappointingThat was me favourite cooking app for many many years. I was very disappointed to see that this app becomes subscription only. Now, I am not able to use it until I pay..Version: 3.0.2

MemberYou made it seem as if I downloaded this app I could use it. Where are the actual recipes??? I have to pay??.Version: 236.0.0

AccessibilityApple devices have VoiceOver built in, free of charge. So there’s really no excuse to have this app be as unusable as it is. For blind users, the filter items in search are read out as “Add filter item” not “Afternoon Tea”, “breakfast etc, the buttons aren’t even working when blind users press them, saving to collections is a right pain because they’re also read out incorrectly, mine all say springtime pasta instead of their names, scrolling is erratic, labelling of other controls is woeful and the speed drops like a stone when voiceover is turned on. As a developer myself, I wouldn’t let this leave Alfa testing. I’ll be mentioning this in some upcoming media work. The second Starr is for the recipes which are seriously good on the occasions I get this thing to cooperate :).Version: 246.0.1

Rubbish!!!!Absolute rubbish! App wants you to pay for 'cookbooks' when you can just search the recipes on the std website. Don't waste your time..Version: 1.5

Has potentialIts a good app but i find it really slow to respond and keeps freezing and closing unexpectedly.Version: 236.0.0

Issues saving collectionsI used to love this app as I could set up collections and save recipes where they made sense for me. However over the last few weeks I can set up a collection and save to it but as soon as I lose and reopen the app everything that I saved has gone. Still good to find recipes for that day, but very disappointing that the saving doesn’t work anymore. *Update* now several MONTHS later and STILL can’t open the app and despite repeat contacts with the help desk and promises from them no one from tech support has contacted me or helped. Seriously disappointed in this cos when you CAN access it I love this app but it is thoroughly useless when you can’t get in ….. And I’ve paid them for it and am getting nothing for my money.Version: 3.0.8

Doesn't show recipeLooks like it could be great, good looking recipes! But when you select a recipe it'll only show the first recipe you selected.Version: 1.6.1

TrashStop fooling people. It's not a free app, it's just a shell for buying cookbooks. Totally useless..Version: 1.5

Really feel let downI have used this app for years, loved it and saved nearly 100 recipes which I’ve used on a regular basis. Then they decide to make it a subscription only service. I don’t have a problem with that to be honest. What I have a HUGE problem with is the fact that they said you won’t lose your recipes or collections, total rubbish! Every saved recipe I had is now lost! They aren’t saved on my profile on the website like it said they would be and even after I’ve set up the free trial they still haven’t saved! Thanks to this I’m extremely unlikely to continue with my subscription after the trial period! Thanks for nothing!.Version: 3.0.1

Great content, poor appThe recipes are great, not found a bad one yet and extremely easy to follow. Unfortunately it is let down by the app (their website built by the same developers is also extremely poor) with several functions not working as it should. I’ve happily signed up for the new subscription service on my iPad but I can’t now use the app on my phone. I’ve tried resorting purchases to no avail. Reinstalling the app didn’t work either; extremely frustrating!! They could also do with improving the search functionality so that it is easier to search for ‘All recipes’ with a filter function, rather than having to search by season or cuisine type and only getting a very small selection of recipes. This is very annoying if you’re just looking for inspiration and have no idea what sort of recipe you’re looking for. Build in support for whisk to make creating shopping lists (as was on their website) would be even better! In summary, the content and recipes are fantastic, but is massively let down by the poor app design/build..Version: 3.0.1

Buggy in the ExtremeWhat's the good of this app? It won't change off the first recipe you view. And the button labelled "App Support" just takes you the Good Food web site, where there is no support! Bin it..Version: 1.6.1

BBC Taking Advantage during a PandemicExcellent app and recipes. What a shame that the BBC seeks to charge up to £60 / year for this app … License Fee obvious isn't enough. The BBC Charter is up soon hopefully UK Government will be taking notice of charges like this during a Pandemic when folk are forced to limit contact and cooking has been one of good things we have had..Version: 3.0.1

CrashInstalled the app on iPad mini then run the app but crash..Version: 1.5

Disgusting practice!!I’ve used the good food guide since its early days and before the numerous titles morphed into the one app. Prior to that I had PURCHASED a number of the original individual guides which it would appear I now have to pay for again (which I’m not going to) if I want access. Is this how it goes with apps then: you buy something, that then becomes unavailable because it’s replaced by an all embracing free app and then it becomes a subscription service and you no longer have access to the recipes you originally paid for. Rip-off. If I’d bought a book I wouldn’t expect to have to hand it back when a newer version is printed..Version: 3.0.2

Good but with frustrationsHelpful app - quick to find recipes and the cook mode is useful. The collections feature is vital for me (it would be useful to be able to select an order in which these are displayed besides alphabetical – the only way I can get my most-used collection to the top of the list is to rename it something odd (“a vegetarian”). As another reviewer has said, reviews of recipes often have useful suggestions for modifications so not being able to access these is a pain. I also find it surprising that there is no share function. If I want to share a recipe I’ve come across with someone (often my sons at uni) I can only do that by saving the recipe, going to the website and copying the URL..Version: 2.2.12

Needs workI love the recipes and use them all the time. I have no issue with paying the subscription fee - you’d pay a lot more for cookbooks to get the range of recipes included here. My issue is that for a paid app, you’d expect a decent quality. I was really looking forward to the ‘new’ app, but it’s pretty much exactly the same and that’s the problem. The search function isn’t particularly smart. The ordering of results appears random at best, so you really have to scroll to find something relevant. And it’s so slow! Just adding or removing a recipe from a collection takes forever.Version: 3.0.1

Mostly harmlessI really like the recipes. I do not like having to log in again very frequently. I really don’t need to fuss around logging in when I am in the middle of cooking. The emails are nice but the links in the emails do not go to the particular recipes, just to the app home page, which is annoying..Version: 268.2.1

ExpensiveI was really happy with the free version, but considering how much I use the app the pay to use version makes no sense.Version: 3.0.1

App closes when Settings button is tappedRunning iOS 15 and app updated. Also, if there is a subscription version out there, would prefer that. Hate the annoying, disruptive ads..Version: 2.2.25

Recipes locked behind pay wallThis app used to be very useful . 1000s of free recipes at your disposal. Recently re downloaded the app and sure enough I have to pay to see most of the recipes . Little disappointing.Version: 133.0.0

Only download if you want to pay a subscriptionUsed this app for ages, good variety well laid out etc. But now, if you don’t want to subscribe you get punted to the web version. Very disappointed that there couldn’t be access for those who don’t want to pay a monthly/ annual subscription for something which has been free. And I’m sure I’ll likely get a response saying there is a three month free trial… not interested, most of the time he whole point is that people forget to cancel and then pay until they realise. Let there be a “free” way to use the app as it was before..Version: 3.0.0

Not freeClaims to be free, but it's very not useful unless you buy the recipes ... uninstall!.Version: 1.3

Impossible to get inYou force people to register, which I already object to, then when I try three different ways to do so, you won’t let me into the app. Every time I though I was logged in, I went back to the app and it wanted me to register again. Useless..Version: 89.8.2

App crashesWhat’s happened to the updated version? All my saved recipes have gone and when I try and save a new recipe the app crashes :-(.Version: 2.2.9

Inaccurately AdvertisedCookbooks not free as advertised. Also when bought a couple of extra packs (and got charged for them), they do not appear in the app. Very disappointed..Version: 1.1

Missing critical informationTrying to follow a recipe with ingredients like 1 olive oil or red curry paste doesn't really help. See Easy Thai Prawn Curry for example. Using iPad version.Version: 1.3

Misleading Features behind the paid versionUnfortunately quite disappointed with this app. I had trouble subscribing and did so because it was advertised that you’d be able to unlock a meal planning feature after subscribing. I subscribed and this feature was not made available at all. Very misleading! You also can’t add your own recipes and limited to the ones searched on this platform..Version: 250.0.1

Not working at allApp redirects me to webpage to log in or sign in, webpage says there is an error and redirects me back to the app, which again prompts me to sign in. I tried updating and re installing. I will use a different app..Version: 89.8.2

App needs a little tweaking…1) Users would benefit from a “Stay logged in” setting. It’s become increasingly frustrating to be logged out each time I leave the recipe to view a different app for a moment or two. 2) Emails that I receive promoting new recipes or collections don’t link to the promo, only to the app’s Home Screen. Otherwise, I enjoy the app, its collections, and exploring different recipes..Version: 269.2.0

CrashSince recent update, the app crashes!! Unable to search free cookbooks that was downloaded previously. Truly disappointed !!.Version: 1.4

No longer freeThis used to be an amazing free app now it costs more money than it’s worth. Very disappointed..Version: 3.0.1

DisappointingWas upset to find barely any recipes I wanted were on this app and had to buy into it to see lots of things. Absolute rubbish!.Version: 1.8.3

Crashes like crazyCan't tell that it is useless because I can't get it to stay open.Version: 1.4

Was free, now you have to pay which doesn’t make sense! So, I’ve used this app for years. Never a problem, great options and recipes already existing and being added all the time and I barely even noticed the ads included in the app. Can someone explain to me why we need to pay for the app but can still access everything online for free?! Surely that doesn’t make sense? Or why there is a move from free to paid other than “ad free” and “better recipes”? The responses I’ve seen from the Good Food team say that the money earned will bring more recipes and more investment into the app…..but the same recipes will be online right? So how would anyone benefit from paying £5pm for something that isn’t necessary?! You’ve lost a user, it’s a bad move to go from free to paid for existing users and there’s no point offering anyone three months free because what happens after that because we still have to pay? Again, for something that was free previously! Whatever response I get from the Good Food team, I hope that once they’ve responded they read my review from the beginning again to make sure that they’ve answered everything I’ve said because none of this makes sense…..Version: 3.0.1

Absolutely furious1 star as there is no way to review with zero stars!!! Used to be a great app, I’ve spent many years building up my recipe collections and overnight it’s all gone 🤬🤬🤬 beyond devastated. I subscribed against my better judgement as I am an overseas subscriber to the magazine and honestly think anyone who subscribed to this should have it free or at least a heavy discount! I can access my recipes through the webpage but NOT through the app. The unhelpful advice received after emailing about my problem was remove app and re-download it which I’ve done, then told its a problem with my phone and take it to apple, I explained it’s the same on my iPad and was told that’s broken too…..really? When I then explained it works through the website so the problem is with the app I was told bluntly to use that and not sure why I’m complaining! I was also told even though everything is gone I can now save new things and to just open up webpage and search and save all that I’d lost…..speechless, do your staff on the phone even know how time consuming doing 5 recipes let alone around 500?!? I want to use the app as I always have, I don’t want to have to use the website especially as I’m now paying for it and the website is free!!!!!!! Utterly disappointed and furious at all of my years of collecting are gone with no explanation nor apology.Version: 3.0.4

CrashingWhen attempting to view the video guides or to manage the video guides the app crashes. This needs to be fixed, ASAP. IOS7.1.2 & iPad Version II. There is no way to backup neither the cookbooks nor the videos to the computer. If you upgrade iPad or the app, you have to download the cookbooks and the videos all over again. There is no direct printing from the app. The best solution is to take a screenshot and print the screenshot..Version: 1.8.3

Subscription NonsenseI know I am going to get a reply from the ‘Good Food Team’ trying to sell me the benefits of a useless app which is now not only useless but costs you money but I am not interested at all in your reply. Money grabbers and the lure of a ‘free trial’ angers me. The developers know for a fact that people will sign up for free then forget to cancel and be charged but it’s too late you already have their money. The web based version is slow, clunky and crashes a lot thereby forcing people back to paying you for the app. Save yourself the trouble guys and just search online as there are plenty of better recipe websites and apps than this…oh yeah that don’t cost you your hard earned cash..Version: 3.0.1

Why do you now have to pay for this? Loved the app but not payingLove the app but not paying $50 for it. Had it for years and it was brilliant shame about the price now. Will find my recipes elsewhere.Version: 169.10.0

Love this appI have used this app for years because of my English roots. Some of the changes over time have been silly. I’d like to sort my recipes by name rather than oldest or newest. Some of my categories disappear from view even though the app tells me they still exist! I wish it was as user-friendly now as it was at the start!!.Version: 150.0.0

Defective AppThere is something wrong with the app. I am using it on my iPad and I can't access the recipes. Whatever recipe I click on it brings me to the one pan breakfast recipe! I tried deleting and re-downloading the app but then I lost the cookbooks I bought and the only recipe that would come up is still the one pan breakfast :(.Version: 1.6.1

Can’t sign upIt says will send a confirmation email to finish signing up. Yet none arrive not in junk either. No button to resend. I guess I delete the app..Version: 2.2.7

No user commentsOn the BBC Good Food website the user comments are very helpful and I’ll often take the tips people leave on the recipes. I can’t see any comments on the app though? Don’t understand why this feature is not on the app..Version: 2.2.14

Used to be great - but new updates are so disappointing!I’ve used this app for years and love the ability to save my recipes and organised them into bespoke collections. I love the newish ‘enable cook mode’ feature, and for all these features I was prepared to put up with the irritating adverts (to the developer - I’d rather be able to pay for the app to get rid of these). The recent update resulted in weeks with no profile, and when eventually fixed the latest bug means that when you try and save a recipe, the app bugs out and returns to the home screen. Same issue for the website too. Come on GF team, you can do better than this!.Version: 2.2.11

Pestered to subscribePreviously great but now you get pestered every time you log in to subscribe and can’t just get searching...Version: 3.0.1

Laggy as hell!I used to love this app but now it’s stressing me out!! Please fix lag issues!! When I load the app it takes ages, then I can’t click on anything and when it finally catches up it’s so slow!! I just tried getting to a recipe I used earlier for a slow cooker meal to check the amount for 1 ingredient and it took me so long and was way more stress than it was worth to figure out I needed 2 tsp of something, please fix asap otherwise I definitely won’t be renewing my subscription! Maybe it got overworked because it used to be smooth and wonderful to use!.Version: 263

App is slow and crashes. Please fix. This app is great but it’s untested and unstable. Please fix it..Version: 2.2.12

Serving your informationThis app only seeks to get your personal info to sell. They provide very little actual recipes etc..Version: 2.2.6

Terrible app and recipesApp doesn't show saved or recent recipes. Recipes themselves terrible. Pumpkin curry doesn't have chopping instructions and has incorrect measurements. Rushed..Version: 1.5

AtrociousNope.Version: 1.9.1

Just a poor appFew recipes not very intresting.Version: 1.3

Recipes are not freeThe Recipe books are not free as advertised..Version: 1.1

FrustratingI’ve tried to use this app so many times but am always annoyed. The search function is terrible. If you want ideas for what to do with a couple of ingredients you have it will only search recipe titles, even if both ingredients are listed in the main recipe, it won’t come up unless it’s in the title. Then then it treats each word as individual ingredients. For example, if you search for white cabbage the first two suggestions are for white sourdough and white chocolate cake 🤦🏻‍♀️. I don’t know how many times I’ve given up on the app only to find a Good Food recipe immediately on Pinterest. Then every single time I have to use the filter to select only vegetarian options. I have a saved profile - is it really that hard to have default preferences?.Version: 2.2.13

BBC Essentially Takes Back Purchased IssuesI have never heard of another publisher unilaterally denying access to old issues if you don’t renew a current subscription. Next thing will be knocking on doors and demanding paper copies back. A very sad money grab directed at digital subscribers. Unreliable and to be avoided..Version: 2.1.0
