Chordion : Musical Instrument & MIDI Controller for Positive User Reviews

Pretty cool app.Loving this app. Keeps the creativity going while making music on the iPad. (The latest update fixed all previous midi issues for me, great job, and very responsive developer).Version: 1.31

Amazing, fun toolIt's calm, simple, user friendly interface is a charm. The editing capabilities are straightforward and detailed enough to serve the app's purpose and the sounds themselves are cool. It's a fun "toy", a way cool instrument and serves as a great sketch pad, but the most interesting feature is the virtual midi controller. Outstanding idea and well implemented. Worth the price of a large coffee for sure..Version: 1.2.3

Take the guess work out! This app plays well enough on it's own but combine it with midi and you really have no excuse for putting the wrong notes/chords together on those other monster synths for iOS! Thanks to the team for continued support! REally appreciate it!.Version: 1.40

Nice!I like this a lot.. Simple idea, simple sound but you can create some nice sounds.. It's limitations work for it and you can get quite creative with it. Recording some nice organy loops into my hardware looper pedal to jam over with guitar sounds a bit early pink Floyd! ;) Update works well with midi out.Version: 1.1

Simple and CleanI was looking forward to the Suzuki company’s re-release of the popular Omnichord instrument coming later this year. I fell in love with the sound of the instrument as it was the first I had ever listened to when trying headphones for the first time as a kid. They became impossible to get a hold of easily since their explosion in popularity. With this elegant and beautiful app, there’s no need for it anymore. I’m very impressed!.Version: 1.51

Not badBut I wish It had Midi output. When I looked at the app I just automatically thought it was a cool, new Midi controller. But it doesn't claim to be, so that's my bad. The sound engine is OK but obviously doesn't compare to the world of sounds that Midi makes available. It's a really cool concept and well executed design, but again, Midi out is a must... Preferably separate assignable midi channels for the pads and the keys. Plus add pitch bend and mod wheel sliders. Also would be great to have a hold/sustain switch for the pads. With Midi out this would be really GREAT!!!!.Version: 1.0

Just a good appCompared to others I this category, for use as a simple MIDI instrument, this app is solid. Powerful enough to be useful without being so complicated that it takes hours to set up. I typically use this to send to ableton live..Version: 1.2.3

Beautiful App but.....I can't see why the arpeggiator can't be utilised as an output when using virtual midi - unless I'm missing the bleedin' obvious(wouldn't be the first time!). This will be five-star perfection - also an iPhone version would be great. Inspiring, intuitive and downright useful (and I feel downright mean giving it 4 stars). Look forward to seeing what's next..Version: 1.2

Interesting app.Good for sparking an idea. Could do with some improvements but what couldn't?.Version: 1.2.3

2024 - still exactly what I needThis app is brilliant. After the disappointing cost announcement of the OM-108, I thought I’d look at alternatives. Not only is this a great sounding instrument with tonnes of options, presets, and customisation, but it’s a superb MIDI controller. Get yourself a cheap lightning to female USB-A adapter, and I can connect my iPad to my Model D synth and play all the beautiful scales with ease, just using a printer cable (USB-A to USB-B). Not only that, a MIDI cable coming out of the MIDI THRU port on the Model D, into the MIDI IN of my 20 year old microKorg, and it can control that too. MIDI has been around for such a long time, so great to see it still being used here. You can also split the MIDI signal from this app to do 2 different channels, one for the chords, and one for the arp/touchpad. Best £3 I’ve spent in a long time..Version: 1.51

Excellent! This is a fantastic app for generating chords and for using as a midi controller :).Version: 1.32.1

Vital tools for iOS musicIdiot-proof. Will make you wonder why you went to music school, or make you glad you didn't. 40k in student loans or a few sheckles for this? No-brainer. Gorgeous UI this is really one of the prettiest apps on iOS..Version: 1.41

Great midi control app to make iPad music easyMy favourite app for composing melody and chord lines on the fly…midi control to Cubasis etc is simple with background audio turned on in the DAW app.Version: 1.51

A great appA great app, do what suppose to do very well, with easy comfiguration and design. Easy and efficient..Version: 1.41

Fills a Gap Never Knew I HadThis app is so valuable for composing music. I'm also practicing it in order to jam with other musicians. The sounds that are already part of it are pretty good. But the MIDI capabilities are amazing. Since you can assign different midi channels to the cords and the Melody keys, it allows many different interesting combination of timbres, textures, and arrangements. Highly recommended..Version: 1.2

Best "chord" app out thereI have tried a number of midi controller apps for non keyboard players and this is by far the best. The ability to save your own scenes, to configure the chord layout, the note choices within the chord is the best thought out design for all apps. I wish it had a little more control on velocity via an expression wheel but that's all.Version: 1.51

Great little app!In chordion, is very easy to setup chords and explore possible ways to make better chord choices. Also, the added drum section has brought the app to new levels. I like to create simple gaming tracks with this app, very fun!.Version: 1.2.2

Great AppI cannot imagine a better app for the musician AND non musician alike. Musicians can be as creative as they like and non- musicians can be up and making credible music in minutes..Version: 1.51

Amazing appI'm sorry I didn't discover this app sooner. It makes music making so much easier, connects to any midi device with ease. Love the arp feature. Great buy.Version: 1.2.2

InspiringChordion is a fantastic composition tool with a unique sonic character as well. The user community has provided presets which you can personalize through tweaking. I bought the bundle with Ondes, which is a nice theremin type instrument..Version: 1.40

Better than I Imagined!I have had this app for a while as a midi controller for other synths and samplers. It has its own sound but I never really took that part seriously. This has changed with version 1.2. They have updated the internal synth and added an arp and a drum machine. Basically you now have an all in one french synth pop machine! You can find presets by other users and upload your own and it now has a recording facility as well as audiobus intergration and soundcloud. Really, what more could you want. Brilliant!.Version: 1.2

FabJust lovin this.Version: 1.3

Great tool to add to the arsenalWhat an amazing app! This is a great tool to setup the framework for a musical idea. For anyone who has taken a course in music theory, the chords are laid out in a way that should be familiar; just convert the letters to Roman numerals and you'll see what I mean..Version: 1.2

BrilliantI have played with a lot of iOS music apps and this is one of the best. Like all good things it is deceptively simple to use. The interface is very intuitive, I haven't needed to refer to the manual at all. Above all it is musical and musicians and non musicians alike will quickly be making pleasing music in noting..Version: 1.32.2

AwesomeGreatly exceeded my expectations! So much vibe and character..Version: 1.51

Great MIDI controllerGood audio engine, good MIDI controller, good IAA features (control bar!!!). Seriously a huge fan.Version: 1.51

Most useful musical app in the App Store.I'm not sure why I hadn't heard about this app before, but its basically perfect as a midi controller. You can completely customize the chords and play any song known to man with ease. If you lack a formal musical background, then this app is a great way to expand your musical palette..Version: 1.2.3

A true 5 star music appThere are many synthesizer apps that I give 5 stars for, but this is the only music app I have that is truly 5 stars. Why? Not only I keep coming back to it, but it is virtually bug free and easy to use. The interface is so great that the DRC polyphonic synthesizer probably stole the idea for its chord mode. This app is basically a futuristic version of these old Yamaha and Casio rhythm keyboards. You have a hexagonal keyboard for chords, and you have a vertical keyboard for solo notes. You even have a drum machine with three different sound modes! It makes a great scratch pad and inspirational tool for many genres of music including ambient. I can't wait for 2.0!.Version: 1.41

Save oftenVery nice but has the unpleasant habit of resetting and losing the current setting on device lock/unlock. Such a letdown. Apart from that annoying glitch, it's a tremendously fun instrument. Highly recommended, provided you save often. Make sure you check out the cloud presets. Some gems in there..Version: 1.41

WonderfulI use this great app along with Logic on my Mac and with synths on the iPad. Not only is it incredibly simple and intuitive, it also has a nice little synth engine itself. The midi out is a great addition, and being able to control different synths with the chord hexagons and the keyboard is an unexpected bonus. Must have for ANY music makers on iPad..Version: 1.31

Good App, work in progressThis app is very cool. In some ways, its like a more sophisticated version of Figure - except without Figure's ease of recording and better percussion. Chordion can produce very cool sounds. The drones are agreeable. It's fun to jam with. Needs some improvements though: 1) Better in app help. A full-fledged tutorial would be great. 2) The levels aren't set properly, the keyboard is way louder than the chord buttons. 3) The whole loading user presets needs improvement. Unless you remember the name of the sound you loaded, its a pain to figure out what is the name of the preset. 4) It is really not clear how recording works for the app. That whole experience needs to be improved. 5) The drum sequencer could use more depth of control. Keep up the good work. Oh and make this app universal please! -p.Version: 1.2

Great programReally cool program! Great for getting the melodies out quickly and experimenting on the fly. Def. worth the low price..Version: 1.2

Best of its kindThere are a few different chord palette apps on the app store but this is the best, with customizable chord layouts, a nice sounding built in synth and sequencer for trying out ideas, and a library of user preset uploads many of which are surprisingly good. Highly recommended..Version: 1.3

SuperLove this app.. I use it with my desktop DAW along with sound prism pro and thumjam. Well thought out and super useful..Version: 1.31

This is different from PolychordI like them both, but this one is different from Polychord. I bought poly first, and just bought Chordion during the Thanksgiving sale and was really surprised at the differences. Like the arp feature and the sequencer for the drum pattern. Its fun and useable. Thank you..Version: 1.3

Lovely, easy to use and huge possibilitiesWorks great. I am going to use it as a midi controler. You can easily generate great song ideas by playing around with it..Version: 1.40

Super fun controllerThis does a lot of what I wish the Q-Chord would do, I just wish the slider ran the long side of the screen, and had 3 octaves more range. Fun with organ and synth controls..Version: 1.51

Fantastic digital instrumentBasic synth controls to manipulate sound, easy to understand layout (especially if you understand fundamentals of music in general), and fun to play with, this app is great for creative types who like to make noises. Use it as a MIDI controller for other apps/synths, use it alone to create impressive sounding melodies and chords, or perform live for an audience. It might be too simplistic for my taste, but I will definitely use it as part of my "digital studio." Great app....Version: 1.31

Solid appLove it. I wish the midi was two way, but the app is super fun and easy to use..Version: 1.41

Fab app!I love this app. and it works effortlessly with Mellotronics M3000HD mellotron app. Big luscious chords with loads of different inversions immediately available. Terrific..Version: 1.2.3

Form and functionBeautiful design, intuitive operation. After a brief setup, I feel I'm playing an instrument rather than operating a mere app. There are a handful of great apps in this niche, some more featureful, yes, but this is the one I keep coming back to. Pure pleasure..Version: 1.41

Nice controllerDon't listen to review below calling it a Orphion knock-off. It's not. At this review time Orphion doesn't have an arpeggiator, a drum machine, nor the ability to play chords on one hand and melodies on another. Chordion has all three. Don't take my word for go look for yourself..Version: 1.2.2

FantasticAmazing instrument in its own right. The fact you can control your other synths with it is brilliant. Great tool for composing and even performing! One of the best music apps..Version: 1.51

Great so far!Really fun way to play and save music. Loading/saving presets is a pain. Once loaded , they should just stay there until you delete them. Also, I couldn't find a way to load previously saved music. That would be great if you could save replay and/or edit older music files..Version: 1.2

Great appRecommended - never hit a wrong note. Great interface too!.Version: 1.2.1

First classLke some promising pupil (it, not me) I had high holes for this piece of work and that's exactly what it's becoming; a hell of a piece of work and all good. Don't stop working, if you're the developer. Don't stop from buying it if you're not..Version: 1.2

I really like this appA simple but very effective app..Version: 1.1.1

Please come backThis app is wonderful, but it definitely needs some bug fixes. It’d be perfect otherwise. Some more drum types would be nice too..Version: 1.51

At first glance.Okay At first glance I downloaded this application at night while in bed and was not impressed I got up the next day and started fiddling around only to find myself more confused than ever. As I started to tweak the settings understand the layout and how each piece works I began to find myself understanding more and more of the application I come from a guitar background as well as a digital music background and found that this application is just another enhancement to my recordings as well as live performance with friends. The few things I find that would be nice to haves are overdub recording, Allowing the ability to press the record button Lay down some chords press play have the drum loop start play that for a little bit stop in then overdub any single notes that I might want to record on the keyboard. I think there should be an option to save your music directly to the iPad versus having it connected to a computer I have downloaded many music apps for creating ,manipulating And just having fun and by far this is the most intuitive app I downloaded for music creation to date. The 3.99 price tag did not deter me as reading what the application could do I knew that with a little bit of time I be able to understand it I look forward to many future updates for this application and I know that they will fix some of these things that aren't even really broken but just would be nice to have.Version: 1.2

Fun and usefulThis is a beautifully realized app that gets better with every update. Very easy to use it has many functions that make it fun for kids but more importantly a working practical instrument for musicians. User friendly fully modifiable synth with midi out and a drum machine, with an interface that is pretty and intuitive..Version: 1.2

Fantastic AppAbsolutely fantastic app for creating chord sequences..Version: 1.2

Must have appForget about the internal sounds. This app shines as a virtual midi controller. Perhaps you're dissatisfied that GarageBand restricts smart keyboards to only eight sounds. If so, this is your answer. Yes, GB will accept virtual midi inputs. But don't limit yourself. If there is an app you like that doesn't have a chord function and accepts virtual midi, you're problem is solved I gave this 4 stars because you can't record midi notes. The developer says maybe in a new version. Then I will give the remaining star..Version: 1.2.3

One of the very bestNothing but love for this app. Sounds even better than it looks..Version: 1.2.1

FantasticI have been wishing for an app like this for a long time. I wish Garage Band could give me this "never a wrong note feature". This is great fun for those of us who are not naturals at music but who love it any way. With this, any one can create a tune. Thank you to the creators of this great app..Version: 1.32.1

Excellent !What an inspiring app. Great sounds and straightforward to use. And now with Audiobus - wonderful!.Version: 1.2

Simple and effectiveVery playable instrument. Not surprised many people are using it as a controller. This paired up with a fat synth engine is a powerful tool. In fact why don't you (developers) up the synth engine. There are people out there who will pay more for the app with more flexible synth built in I'm absolutely convinced. Well done and thanks! P.s. also couple more fx (glitch, low pass filter) would be nice :) Also slide right hand key to increase modulation would make it so much more expressive. After a bit of playing I find it would be nice to have option of note labels on the right hand side. Also would be good to customize the auto mode or at least be able to assign custom notes on the keyboard for every chord. One more: please make the drum and arp matrix bigger, as it is it is veeeeery fiddly. Thanks.Version: 1.31

Buy buy buy !!!Don't take my word for it. An excellent tool for beginners and advanced songwriters.Version: 1.2

Just what I was looking forIf you like GB smart keys, then you will like Chordion. One tid bit is to get Audiobus so you can use other sound engines like SampleTank, Thumbjam, etc. Hours and hours of fun. I do not play keyboards, but I know what I want to play and that's the beauty of Chordion. Just load the chords you like and have fun. One drawback is you are limited to the chords given, but GB is the same way. Hey guys, app update so we can capture any keyboard keys we want. Otherwise, fantastic app..Version: 1.31

Outstanding!Got to say it, this is an awesome app! My two year old loves playing with this and even he can produce some interesting tunes. I, on the other hand have very little musical flair but its really good to be able to fully customise it and throw out some worthy melodies. It's a great way to spend time just making music..Version: 1.2.3

NiceI'm using a iPad Air ISO 8.2 and seems to work on a lot of apps by midi control I was thinking maybe it's the other apps need to update too..Version: 1.40

Loving it!I've only been using it for an hour or so, but I already love this app. Simple, beautiful and powerfull. I would highly recommend it to any music professional, or just someone looking to have fun making music. This is a well thought out application. Well done guys. Please keep the updates coming. We would love to see a few more options..Version: 1.2

Still amazingI still love this app even though it has been out for a long time. It is one that I still find myself opening up and using after all these years. Perfect for nice ambient jams and deeper than you might think it is....Version: 1.51

2 Years last updateShow some luv😀.Version: 1.51

Great!Enjoyed this but frustrating that the arpeggiator switches off when using midi, if this didn't happen it would get a 5 and be way more useful..Version: 1.2

One of my favesLove chordion. Super intuitive. Great sounds. Unique interface. My only suggestion would be to have a "hold" button so you can let a chord or arpeggio drone on without holding it down. Great work!.Version: 1.2.3

Dig itThis is a nicely done music app that is clean, modern, and built for touch. It does what it does well. I'm just getting started but I see a lot of potential here as a song writing tool. This app makes it quick and easy to play with different chord progressions, and the apeggiator is very flexible..Version: 1.31

One of the best Music appsThis app allows me, with limited talent, to play virtually any instrument. Using it as a midi controller to control apps like Sampletank, Jordantron, sample wiz, etc. Its the only midi controller app that I have found that will set up the piano keys so that you have only the notes of the current selected chord. Or if you rather, you can have it set up to play a scale. I could write a book on how to manipulate this app to do many things musically that would normally be out of reach for someone like myself. Learn some basic music theory and play around with this app and it will soon become one of your favorites..Version: 1.41

Stellar but still bugsFor whatever reason, midi doesn't work well with Thor. When on the main play screen the key board and hexagon make Thor sound really screwy but if you play the hexagon pads in the edit screen it plays just fine. Really great program but I hope this is addressed..Version: 1.32.2

Love love thisWell done to the creators. Absolutely love this app. Would be nice to hear your recording on the app but audiobus helps out here..Version: 1.31

FabulousI use it all the time to play synth apps via core midi. Works great with iSEM. Great compositional tool..Version: 1.32.2

All inclusiveDownloaded this app the other day for my iPad. Been a professional musician for some time and in my opinion the app is fantastic. Makes great tunes and gives you a great deal of control and variability. The beat creator is a big plus.Version: 1.41

What a great app.Really enjoying messing around with this..Version: 1.31

Still the best midi controller.Owned Chordion for a while now, and it has become my go to midi app when starting a project. Works beautifully with both ableton and logic. I've had no musical training, so my melodies were always a bit bland and easy. I've tried most of these "harmonic" controllers, but keep coming back to Chordion because it's easy to use, easy to connect and doesn't hurt to look at it..Version: 1.31

Next generation of musical interfaceI don't know many app makers as consistent and intuitive and innovative as Olympia. Chordion is yet again a true hit. It allows you to find a harmonic space and then explore that space melodically right alongside. We need more apps like this one out there, and at that really changes the way you interact with and think about music..Version: 1.51

Needs note namesI really like this app and want to use it more frequently. There are a few simple labeling improvements that would make this app a lot more helpful. Please include the names of the notes on the keyboard for individual notes on the right. Also the chords need roman numerals for their degree..Version: 1.51

On its way to perfectionGetting even better with moe scales Great layout, nice synth sounds, perfect starter chords and scale sets, customization and most important a responsive developer! I purchased after a speedy response from dev promising MIDI OUT in free future update, do you see the possibilities here people! Also dev asks for further scales and chords to include, like I say this app is gonna be perfect and right now it's certainly worth the price in a heartbeat, well done dev Timmy Put.Version: 1.1.1

It's got soulIt's also fun/serious/chilled/mellow/ tweak able /simple to use /sounds great.Version: 1.2

Fun appA different program from Garage Band to experiment with chord progressions. Got here from seeing a device used by Calvin Harris. Looking forward to update 2.0. Need more note/chord choices on screen..Version: 1.41

Great, but missing one feature. This app is a great controller, however I would love to see midi clock input to sync the arpeggios to an external drum machine or sequencer..Version: 1.41

Very nice but could be perfect. As expected based on my use of this developer’s flagship app “Patterning 2”, the app is incredibly well thought out. It is super user friendly, logical, has excellent user interface, nice graphics, simple yet powerful functionality. However, few things are making it just a tiny bit short of being perfect: ***Poor drum sound selection and on top of it very limited control of each drum instrument’s sound. ***No MIDI out for the drum machine. The user manual incorrectly states “The drum machine and arpeggiator are also disabled in MIDI mode” implying that the drum machine does send MIDI notes but it’s not the case and, unlike arpeggiator, its audio is not disabled. Of course, the drum machine in the Chordion is rather basic, especially compared to something as complex as Patterning 2, but it would be fantastic if it could have its own MIDI out. The limited sound drums of the Chordion would no longer be an issue. It would be an awesome feature if the drum sequence made in Chordion could be sent to Patterning as some kind of set for further modification. Yes, it’s not that much work to do it manually anyway considering that the sequencer has just 16 steps and 6 tracks but still it would be great. ***Only 16 steps for drum sequencer. I really don’t want the app to get any heavier and over complicated - as it is now it is great for students and people experimenting, learning about harmony, chords progression and scales, but doubling the steps count in the sequencer would allow more interesting rhythms. ***Can’t save user chords as a layout to be used in “generate layout”. You can of course save the entire state of the Chordion but being able to save / load just the chords layout as a user preset would be very useful because then it could be transposed into other keys as a whole (like in case of factory layouts). ***On that last note, a simple global transposition slider would simplify many things ***The BMP stated in the sequencer is double of what is typically stated in sequencers when in 16 steps mode (including Patterning 2) so the highest equivalent tempo is only 150. ***I wish pressing the keys on the keyboard meant for programming the scales (the horizontally displayed keyboard) was playing the given notes. Much easier to program the scales this way!.Version: 1.51

AwesomeGreat fun app. One feature I feel would improve it would be easier access to the occasional not-in-the-scale note through the non-chromatic keyboards (for example, accidentally from a major scale). Perhaps a solution would utilise the width of the keyboard more effectively (a sideways swipe? Or perhaps just another "column").Version: 1.2

AwesomenessThis app can do all the things peole said. It is also wonderful for just playing and zoning out. I love how customizable it is. And the keyboard can make so many different sounds, if you experiment!.Version: 1.40

Wonderful ChordionOne of the best designed apps in the store. Excellent as a MIDI controller, but has a built in synth that can sound beautiful too. Also a wonderful tool for learning key/scale structures. That said, I'd love to see the drum sequencer interface and functionality developed further to that it's as performance oriented as the pads and keys; the sequencer steps are a bit to small for quick accurate changes, and some extra editing options would be sweet; randomization per drum track is one thought; like tap to randomize, or auto randomize based on conditions..Version: 1.31

One of my most used appsI love this app. I believe I own every app from Olympia noise co. Top class dev. Dear dev, would you consider making this run on iPhone too, please? It’s such a huge waste having to get an iPad to run it and there’s so little room left on my rig. I’m sure many of your users would agree..Version: 1.51

The most visually compelling instrument for iOSThis is the most fun I have had making music on my ipad and is the closest thing to a physical midi controller. Also, I work with kids who have emotional disorders / behavioral disorders. This is my favorite app to use as a bridge to learning more about music theory. So much fun. The layout forefronts the exploratory part of the creative process..Version: 1.41

Best music-making appI am a pianist and wanted an app that let me create music using the iPad touchscreen in a simple and intuitive way. For that purpose apps like Magic Piano and Ocarina were a joke, since they didn't have nearly enough functionally and weren't responsive enough either. Nor was I looking to buy some $30 virtual synth controller with 1000 knobs and a tiny on-screen piano no better than Magic Piano. This app was exactly what I was looking for. Within seconds of opening up the app I was up and running actually creating music, playing recognizable melodies and having a lot of fun. I haven't yet found any pop/rock song that can't be accommodated by the chords/scales that are available, and the interface is clever and remarkably easy to use..Version: 1.1.1

Best midi controllerThe built in synth is pretty good, but I feel the app really shines when used as a midi controller to control other apps. The playing layout is brilliant, and nearly everything you do will sound melodic. This is probably my favourite app to show off to people when demonstrating the musical possibilities of the ipad. All in all, very impressive..Version: 1.2

Great appThis is a great fun, useful app, recommended.Version: 1.2

An Absolute GemHas a beautiful feel to it, an absolute pleasure to use. Incredibly clever in design, this will be one that people will remember if only for it's seamless usability and performance. An absolute gem of an app..Version: 1.32.2

Inspiring MIDI ControllerI continue to come back to this app to use as a MIDI controller and source of inspiration. When I have a question, the developer responds quickly to questions which is appreciated. I’m also happy to support an indie developer..Version: 1.51

A must-have app for lazy musicians! :)Now this review will appall the purists, those who take music seriously in a way that makes them horribly judgemental. Too bad. Too many people are dissuaded from even discovering the joy in playing music they like by such a no-pain, no gain mentality. Will this app make you a musician? In the traditional sense, no. Can you have no idea of timing and melody whatsoever? Again, no. But to address the last question first, if you do happen to have those things, it is relatively easy to look up the chords of a favourite song, set up the keyboard with those chords, and just play. If you then learn the dead easy drum machine, it'll help keep you in time. As you discover and utilise each new aspect of this app, like recording both internally and externally, so your understanding and appreciation of "real" musicians and audio production builds, and all the while there are very little restrictions in you playing - in the music sense and the fun sense. To go back to the first question, it still holds true that you won't be a musician but it makes a darn sight easier to want become one because you have a better feel for how music may be created and from there an idea of which direction you'd like to take. On the creative side, it makes for a very convenient audio sketch-book of ideas. Download AudioBus, link to GarageBand, throw down a vocal, and you're away. So how long does it take to create a backing track for a song you like? I've played guitar -chords only- for years. Never programmed a drum machine before. I've not used Chordion much, only learned how to swap out chords. I wanted to create a backing track for Radiohead's song Morning Bell. The time signature isn't a standard 4/4 time but 7/8. I created the time sig by blanking the last two steps in the drum machine's 16 steps and made a beat which probably only shares the time sig :) Then I set up the chord keyboard for the half dozen or so chords in the song. Had I not remembered to set Chordion back to Audio from MIDI sooner, then this process would have taken 10 to 15 minutes, most time spent on the drum riff and a little on tweaking the sound of the synth. This meant that I could quickly get down to learning how to play along with a new time sig but also sing along and provide a one-note accompaniment. Total time to this point, about 20-30 minutes. Finally, a word of advice to numpty reviewers - if you don't get, that's ok, just don't blame the app. No one app can be all things to all people, so remember that. To the uber-numpties who have a bad install or whatever and are too lazy and/or stupid to contact the developer for assistance please don't advertise your ignorance as a review. It makes both you and the app look bad..Version: 1.31
