Pacific Fleet for Negative User Reviews

OverpricedAt 69p this may have been a diversion worth spending money on but I was expecting more for my money as I paid much more. The game is about as engaging as a wet fish and turn based. By today's standards the graphics and effects are passable but average. The gameplay is where it all unravels most - torpedoes which rarely go straight and often don't explode and the turn by turn based play make it a bit of a yawn frankly. Others may like it but it isn't a game I have warmed to..Version: 2.10

UnplayableStill unplayable. Really guttered. This needs fixing or else people are paying for nothing. The white bar on the bottom of iPhone 11 Pro stops you from moving the rudder and torpedo lines Used to love this game as well. Developers need to look at moving the ships controls.Version: 2.11

I can’t play itI used to live this game when I was younger but now that I’m older and I have my own phone, iPhone XR, I can’t play it because the white line doesn’t disappear like it does on other games so I can’t turn my ship or my missiles..Version: 2.11

Promising But Ridiculously TediusSo far I have only played the submarine simulation. Graphics are great. Variety of actions awesome. Using the deck gun is trial and error, as there is range-finding capability. Erratic and dud torpedoes make the game tedious and frustrating. I'm aware of the pre-1943 torpedo problems, but this game takes it way too far. You can spend 10-15 minutes getting into position only to have about 80% of your shots swerve off course or fail to detonate. Ridiculous. Your option is to play a less challenging "no duds" game or somehow upgrade to TDC... I have yet to discern how this is achieved. As noted in other reviews, attacking land targets is a bit "hit or miss" (pun intended). Once you identify the key targets it is hard to maneuver the pointer to align air or sea attacks. Lining up dive-bomb attacks is also crazy hard..Version: 2.10

Great game but no longer playableI played this game a lot however since moving to an iPhone 11 the bar for the home gets in the way of turning the turrets and ships meaning the game is not playable as trying to do this just take you to the Home Screen. Atlantic fleet doesn’t suffer fro. This problem however, such a shame for a good game..Version: 2.11

Pacific fleetJapanese aircraft carriers can take 6 16 inch salvos without sinking. Very unrealistic..Version: 1.03

Can’t use slider controls on a iPhone X!Waste of money! Slider controls don’t work on a iPhone X! Can I have a refund please?.Version: 2.11

Utterly dissapoointedI must be missing something, because I think this is a distinctively average game... I bought due to the rave reviews, and given the price thought it would be something special. In reality, it's actually very basic, extremely clunky and the move / shoot way of playing totally kills any would be excitement you'd expect from a naval battle. There's no strategy to the game, and just trying to adjust your aim is tedious and one dimensional. Save your money if you are looking for an engaging sim / strategy game..Version: 2.10

Could be great BUTGreat idea more work needed but a start worth looking at, frustrating at times.Version: 1.03

Almost a great gameHonestly a little surprised at the high rating for this game. It has Cool graphics ( would be nice to have different ship names in the same class ), but cumbersome play. You are limited to 3 ships ( again, picking them is cumbersome ) as is the enemy. You spend most of your time trying to line up the target line and set the firing angle - buy radar first thing or forget it. Moving the view is not easy either. Attacking the islands is especially tedious as its hard to see the targets and they dont show up on radar. You also cannot choose the order the ships move/fire. Very repetitious play overall..Version: 2.10

RealismAs for the graphics, they as advertised. However, their are some major flaws. If you are using a sub you have no way to measure the distance from your ship to target. You have no info on the range of torpedoes. This is a problem because in many of the scenarios, your targets are intentionally placed out of range but you will be forced to pick the closest target and fire. You will then watch the torpedo approaching the target and then it will suddenly disappear because it was out of range. Now you have one less torpedo and you have lost ground. The target is now further away and nearly out of reach. I also noticed that if an enemy ship is coming right at you at f speed and you fire only to find he is out of range and you try again and you find that the target is out of range even further. That is impossible in this ,and every other universe. The graphics are realistic, the action is not..Version: 2.11

Cannot play on iPhoneX!This game is unplayable on iPhone X or any following iPhones where there is the bottom bar. Please fix this problem, thank you!.Version: 2.11

No starsYou have stuffed this game with update, cannot get pass level 37 nothing destroy land bunkers land aircraft never miss hitting your ship, no longer can you just disengage , it is just rubbish shame was a good game. Ok so you fixed level 37 but please fix submarine torpedoes limit it is too low. Also why can't I have more than one ship on a mission not very realistic , considering you base this game realism. Also all enemy air craft have a 99% strike rate but my aircraft has a very poor rate , please fix.Version: 2.0

UnhappyImpossible to play as controls are stuck under home bar on my iPhone, if adjustability of HUD was a feature it would be great.Version: 2.11

Avoid - Set up to keep extorting moneyI downloaded the free version and enjoyed the game so decided to purchase the "full version". Within 15mins of playing at novice level it was clear that I could not progress without purchasing better ammo, armour etc etc. This is a rip-off and it should not be allowed to keep asking for more after buying the full version. It's best to avoid this game unless you are particularly wealthy!.Version: 2.10

Stellar game with one ruinous flawThis game is a true achievement. I cannot speak highly enough about the graphics, the attention to detail, and the sheer depth of play. It's a truly immersive game that I might play again and again and again. I say "might" because there is one flaw, but it's a big one. Most battles are sea engagements, but there is an occasional island level with your fleet vs land targets. These levels are extremely unintuitive, combining very difficult aiming with no damage meters and regenerating targets. You simply have no idea what's happening on an island level and no way of knowing if you are making any progress at all. It is deeply, deeply frustrating and not at all fun. Bottom line: even a challenging sea battle is engaging and fun, but the island levels will make you want to delete the game entirely. Hopefully this will change in a future update, and this will become a true five-star game. UPDATE: after weeks of practice and forum searches and even an email to the developer, I still cannot make heads or tails of island levels. I've stopped on level 36 and cannot make any progress whatsoever. This game is officially deeply unpleasant for me to play now, and I will be deleting it. A shame since I think this would be a fantastic game if this problem were addressed..Version: 2.10

DisappointedThis app is over priced and nothing what I expected..Version: 2.03

Fix it!This is one of the best games I have played ever! The better graphics are great and being able to command more than one ship is helpful. But, there are glitches and bugs everywhere. There is no radar for the Yamato even when you buy it, can't destroy some targets on shore and the radars can be up to 20 degrees off! Fix it!.Version: 2.0

Mostly good funPacific Fleet has a lot going for it. Good game play and graphics. The ships and carriers are good fun to play. Where it falls down is the missions agains shore installations. You're pretty much making wild guesses without much to guide you, as there aren't any range circles and your radar doesn't work. So, it becomes an exercise in mindless guessing and frustration which leads to cbf moments. I found myself walking away for days at a time in the middle of what was otherwise an engrossing campaign. Individual missions have replay value, but the major campaign doesn't, for this reason. The lack of replay value is why this is three stars, not five..Version: 2.03

Great potentialI do love this game. However, it is frustrating to have the torpedoes stop a few feet away from their target. Seriously, I bring the sub and smallest ship along, and they start so far away, they can never hit anything. It's aggravating in the several missions before being able to buy bigger ships. Plus a carrier is useless in night combat. Should say something about that fact before buying that ship. I might have saved for a bigger destroyer first. Or make night flying an upgrade. Need torpedo upgrade for carrier planes also. Would also love to see larger battles (more ships on each side), random single player battles, and even historical battles. How about a story line or at least notes about each confrontation. These fixes would get five stars from me..Version: 2.10

Not as good as Atlantic FleetI think this may be an earlier work. It lacks the sophistication and better graphics of Atlantic Fleet, which is very good. For Pacific Fleet, try the Lite version first..Version: 2.10

Quite disappointingThis is a very bizarre game. Although the graphics look real-time, it is actually turn-based. However when you attack, such as firing a torpedo, all other ships stand still while the torpedo tracks towards its target. There is no need to lead the target, for example. Torpedoes and planes attack one at a time per turn against a static target. Weird. Similarly, merchant ships happily carry along while you shoot at them. Other features, like aerial attack, are completely unintuitive. It's like a strategy game enthusiast tried to create an authentic game, got all the graphics done, then gave up, and came up with this as a result. If you've played any other nail simulator on the PC for example then this will be huge disappointment. Having said that, I did play it for 3 hours solid, wanting just one more go, and the graphics are great..Version: 2.10

Good gameGood game but not adapted for iPhones with no home button..Version: 2.11

Great game.. Until..Great game but if you get to close to the enemy aircraft carrier and he gets to use his main guns .. Well it locks up, gun does'nt fire and game stays on AI turn making you scuttle your ship and try again. After 6 or 7 tries and the same thing happening, I have given up and moved onto other games. Shame, needs a bug fix for sure.Version: 2.0

Not impressed!!!!!Can any one tell me why I have moor duds torpedoes????? It's a good job this isn't real war or god help us. Get it fixed, as it is so frustrating..Version: 2.10

Potential is shadowedWhile close to being a really great game and fun to play over and over, this doesn’t play out due to the incomplete state it remains. It’s almost like after much hard work the devs just said “meh, I’m over it” and this is displayed by the complete lack of any true randomness in each level. While the illusion of having a wide choice in actions is there, the fact is that the highly choreographed AI and also RNG and mechanics of the players input determine the outcome of so much in the game. If time was spent playtesting I’m sure that the devs wouldn’t truly be satisfied with the shoddy state it is in the previously mentioned aspect. Examples are the deployment of ships and their range in relation to the enemy. The accuracy and hit location of player actions in comparison to the AI. This is no doubt implemented to make up for the lack of real AI mechanics. Atlantic Fleet does improve on this but not in a quantum leap, although the other aspects make it a better game. Actually giving up attempting to ignore the massive flaws in this game, it’s so structured in every way from initial deployment to hit location and all variables, that it’s almost like watching a movie with the realistic lack of true choice. Unpolished and left that way for whatever reason which is unfortunate as such a unique and potential having game deserves to be supported and improved. At least there is a marked improvement with Atlantic Fleet although the AI issues remain, along with the lack of continued improvement/support..Version: 2.11

Educational?I have learned so much from this game! I never realized that Japanese technology was so far advanced over American equipment in World War II. The Star Trek style force fields around their ships that turned torpedos a full 90° from their paths, the incredibly accurate antiaircraft fire with double the range of America’s, and the massively larger explosive capability of Japanese ordnance, compared to the American equivalent, was never documented in any of the slanted accounts I had read. I am now convinced that they won the war and we have only been told propagandized accounts in America to prevent the population from becoming so depressed at being a vassal state today..Version: 2.11

Incompatible with iPhone X or higherGame was fun on older phones but doesn’t interact well with the new home button. Unplayable..Version: 2.11

Too many dudsEnjoyable game but far to many dud torpedoes I don't think any Captain would head out to sea knowing when he got into a shoot out that 3 out of 4 torpedoes were dud. The ships don't fire duds though so you end up being blown out the water, rather silly really. PROGRAMMERS TRY AGAIN.Version: 2.10

Good but could be so much betterGood graphics however needs a single turn for opponents rather than per ship. Also how many dud torpedoes can you fire in one friggin battle?? Four in a row? Talk about rigged. Until these features are fixed I wouldn’t recommend purchasing.Version: 2.11

A great game with a major let downI enjoy playing this game. Great graphics, scenery and strategy. But it is let down by the fact that 4 out of 5 torpedoes you fire end up being duds. This is even the case when you move to purchasing the full version of this game..Version: 2.10

Not worth the moneyThere are much better games out there for the money. It's not as good as these reviews would lead you to believe. Save your money and look elsewhere.Version: 2.10

Loved the game however........now that iPhones have the flip up line at the bottom of the screen you can’t easily move the ships left or right. Please change the layout as this was an enjoyable game until now..Version: 2.11

Just like a real fleet!Make it so there's more room for over 150 ships and fleets of planes terpedo planes with bombers and fighters cammonds were to ATTACK pause game to ask where to move ships and fighters protect their carriers attacks could be done at same time like you firing shells while sqaudron attacks planes on the ship decks could move and scout the EMMEY do a Pearl Harbor ATTACK add the B-25 Mitchell also shot down planes attempt landing more fighting countries to like Germany France Britain Russia all the axis powers and allies so it will be epic attacking the intense will be real and B-25 crash is a plane leaning then attempting to crash land or even hit the ship with more explosive power and more BOMBS and the torpedo bombers and dive bombers only have 1 BOMB/torpedo.Version: 2.10

PatheticGame well overpriced for what is a basic turn move game with no or little ai input. I would like my money back as rave reviews must have come from the developers..Version: 2.10

Completely unusable on iPhone 13I’m sure it’s a great game. I bought it because I’ve had the Atlantic Fleet Lite version for years, but this game doesn’t work. At the bottom of the screen there is a small and narrow interface that you use during battle to maneuver your vessels and rotate the turrets. These interfaces are so low in this version of the game that they border the edge of the screen and therefore when you try to set your aim or course, the phone thinks you’re trying to leave the window and acts accordingly. There is literally no way to aim or steer. This is a problem 100% of the time. Love these games but buyers beware. Not sure how many other phones this affects as well..Version: 2.11

Some bugsThe torpedo upgrades don't help. On average I have two duds per load of 6. Guaranteed 1 dud per load. Also, they routinely drift into the wind. Overall, fun and worth $6..Version: 2.10

Can you have anymore dud torpedoes?Lots of promise, but so far the game has a 50% dud torpedo rate. For a game with no speeding up game play option -soooo many wasted shots with 'dud torpedo' hits. Be wary..Version: 2.10

Unusable on iPhone XRI have really enjoyed playing this game over the years but since moving to an iPhone XR with its Lack of a button the game has become completely unplayable. Instead of sliding the direction of the fire control the whole screen moves. The swipe gesture to close the app is directly over the main controls which makes it completely on usable.Version: 2.11

Fighting steel on the ipad...notAn attempt at recreating Fighting Steel on the o ld PC onto the ipad. Interesting enough for a couple of minutes. Each side has a winning strategy..and if you are a history buff, you know the drill. Learn or know it and you cannot lose a battle without trying hard. Minimal tech upgrade tree, once you have radar 90% of your shots hit. 45 battles, boring and repetitive after about 8, replay is play from the other side, an editor wouldn't have helped anyway. No character, zero replay ability and oh, every scenario starts with enemy ships in close trading broadsides. The computer game of old got it right. Naval warfare is about closing to range strategies, strengths and not about hammering away with main guns at arms length. As general interest waste of ten minutes, fine, get the freeware version. At cost, this one got just about everything wrong. One star..Version: 2.10

Always had this game until new iPhoneAll my old phones w a home button meant this game was playable …. Now I have an X and and the bar at the button makes it impossible to play.Version: 2.11

Not compatible with iPhone 11I’ve loved playing this for a long time, but when I upgrade to the iPhone 11 Pro some feature won’t work. The steering bar at the bottom of the screen, because the whole screen moves when swiped, it makes steering impossible. Also, the range bar of the left side of the screen has disappeared. Please push an update to make it compatible..Version: 2.11

Good but...Beautiful game. And it's a lot of fun. Until you reach an island level. It's not clear what you're supposed to destroy so you shell away for 25 or 35 minutes, get bored, close the game and play something else. Not worth £3.99 at this stage..Version: 2.10

OkTorpedo limits in the sub are way to low. And enemy cv's even after serious damage just continue to launch aircraft. The game needs some form of reduced weapons as damage is incurred..Version: 1.03

Could have been great...Clunky interface, one dimensional game play..Version: 2.03

BoringEndlessly repetitive shoot-em up game. Gun laying is next to impossible. Do not buy..Version: 2.11

Pacific FleetThis is the best game, except it would be nice if you would add the battleship USS Pennsylvania because not only a great ship but also the sister ship to the USS Arizona, i think that would be a great honor. One problem, the submarine does not carry the standard load of 24 torpedos & it does not move good all. Please fix these issues Also the island battles, they really need alot of work. You destroy the marked targets & you still cant win no matter what targets you destroy. This is why chaged my mind from 5 stars to 1 star. Please fix all issues & I will give it 5 stars again Thank you.Version: 2.10

Don't waste your moneyThe paid app cripples your weapons to be almost useless, then offers you to upgrade for more cash to make them realistic. Don't waste your money on this game..Version: 2.10

Unplayable on a modern iPhoneThis game cannot be played on a modern iPhone: the controls for aiming guns/torpedoes are at the bottom of the screen, and match the positions for swiping the screen/closing the app. In short, I just lost £6 to an unplayable game. Very disappointing..Version: 2.11

Doesn’t work very well on iPhone XNot really compatable for iPhone X.Version: 2.11

Game UnplayableThis game is sadly unplayable on modern iPhones, due to the fact that the controls for your ships are along the bottom of the screen which is intersected by the iPhone bar to minimize or close the app. There are no in game settings to change the location of the control HUD and no settings in iPhone (that I can find) that would help with this. This is a shame since this game was easily my favorite mobile game and I have completed it many times. I can only give 1 star though because of the fact that I can’t play it anymore. I would love to change my rating to 5 stars if the devs were to add an alternate control scheme or add a setting to change the location of the controls on the screen..Version: 2.11

Not a patch on Atlantic fleetThis is a pale imitation of the other Killerfish title. Additional ship types are interesting but gameplay is entirely formulaic, repetitive and non challenging. I give it two stars because it is quite easy on the eye and I like the concept. The other title is superior however..Version: 2.10

Interesting game... Needs some work thoughThis game is a great concept, and a successful attempt to bring the sea battle genre to the iPad. As a fan of accurate historical gaming, this has a lot of appeal, and clearly has a high degree of historical research behind it. Although, having said that, I'm no WWII guru, so I'm assuming this. The gameplay leaves a little to be desired though. The turn limit is confusing, as you only have six turns in which to achieve your objectives, at least that's all I've managed to obtain so far. Ths creates a level of frustration that is aggregated by the oppositions random moves in and out of range, effectively reducing your available turns simply to keep them in range. Perhaps this is designed to create historical accuracy, or to increase the challenge, but its freaking annoying. An ammunition limit would make sense, even a fuel limit, but six turns to use other firing or moving seems strange to me... Another problem with this game are the instructions. They are hard to follow at best, and appear to have been written either as an afterthought, or extremely hastily. Either way, they need a complete overhaul and re-write to be useful. Finally, although I have a little more of the game to play, I'd love to be able to fight with my entire fleet, not just one ship at a time. The other guys get several ships... Why can't I? Apologies if this comes in later in the game, or if there is a way and I just can't work it out... Essentially though, this is good value, a bit of historical warfare fun, but could be so much more!.Version: 1.01

Love this game butI love playing this game. However the game is not compatible with my iPhone the XS Max as the slider to move and aim is in behind the home bar which makes the game unplayable..Version: 2.11

Firing steering issueNeed to improve on the setting and fitting system on iPhone. Keep giving my boats incorrect commands because of the touch systems in place. Please fix..Version: 2.11

Totally lopsided game.Entertaining to a point. Not worth the money really. Doesn't have the depth of other naval warfare games. Attacking land bases is freaking pointless and tedious. If your using an aircraft carrier, they will always be targeted first and always within gun range from the start. It's hard to position them before the enemy gets a hit on them which usually takes them out for the rest of the game. No aircraft carrier followed by escort would ever get within range of enemy naval guns, so it's an absurd set up. Save your money buy a better game..Version: 2.10

Pacific fleetIt is generally a good game but depending on the device you own it can be almost impossible to play for example a iPhone that doesn’t have a home button because the bar thing that you use to change tabs is right there aiming guns or torpedoes is impossible so it is unplayable for any iPhone without a home button..Version: 2.11

Just a ok gameAction is too slow. Worst is too difficult... Eg bomber fighter cannot hit the target easily I played up to level 19 and am almost giving up.Version: 1.0

Can’t playGot the iPhone X and can’t play just wasted 8 bucks ,I WANT A REFUND.Version: 2.11

Pacific fleetI really enjoyed the game gave me great joy until the end I really thought there would of been more to the game other levels etc . Only other thing I am really disappointed in is having to pay for it too other than that it was def great game.Version: 2.10

Great gameGreat game but keeps crashing Plz fix.Version: 1.03

Great but does not work on new phonesI have had this game forever and absolutely love it, however; I’ve tried to go back and play several times but it is not compatible with the new iPhone layout. The bar that you slide up to close the app covers the bottom of the UI making it impossible to change your angles, meaning you cannot shoot or move as intended. Impossible to play the game which is why I rated as low as I did. 5/5 otherwise..Version: 2.11
