✓ NostalgicLoving the union of characters, music, items and monster from all the titles in the main series. Especially interpretation of the newer titles in 16bit. Game is very short and lacking content. Lots of freezing and crashing on ios7. Cloud save doesn't work across devices and constantly asks for password. ✓ Deeply flawed and too expensiveAt this point I have spent $22 on this game. And man, I feel a really stupid. But to get the most out of the game you have to spend real cash. The concept of the game is a good one - take a ton of Final Fantasy characters and make them fight numerous bosses and minions. But it's deeply flawed. It's biggest problem is there's so little to do. The entire game is rubbing the right-hand side of the screen. There's zero strategy. Plus no matter how good you are, and I'm at level 99 with five premium characters (who are more powerful) and there are a ton of battle I CANNOT win the first try. At no point do you have to take out certain bad guys to weaken another, you can't even pick your targets. It's literally rub the screen, move on, rub the screen, move on. And there's NOTHING to spend your in-game money on. I guess I expected more from Final Fantasy. It's fun for a bit and passes the time, but even Tiny Tower was more interactive than this. And don't bother paying anymore the initial price. Trust me. Put even the tiniest amount of strategy in the game and a attack button so I don't have to rub the screen and the game would be ten times better. ✓ MeaninglessOk, so you have a massive party of FF characters that you have absolutely no control over except to attack a RANDOM enemies. No spells, healing, targeting... It wouldnt be so bad if your characters dont die so often. Swiping up and down your characters is fun and pretty for about 40 seconds until you realise the cooldown for dead characters to revive can be minutes to HOURS, and the only way to speed up revival to keep playing is to pay real money. Oh and you can unlock your fave ff characters by paying, but good luck finding them in-game..Version: 1.0.0

✓ 5c bug?I dunno why the App Store apparently forgot the first review I did, but... I don't know if this bug is specific to the iPhone 5C or what but every time nostalgia brings me to do an IAP, the game freezes my entire phone. After resetting, it blazes though after hitting OK on the "Resume interrupted purchase" box. C'mon, EVERY TIME?! It also freezes if you put your phone into sleep and back on when it's running, if you do the double tap on the home button to switch to it and it even locked my phone up after the "low battery" alert popped up while playing! I've never seen an app that's this unstable before! An app this simple shouldn't be freezing phones when you try to do things built into the phone! Also, please remove the pop up every time everyone dies. I saw in the update notes that this was added. Why? Do you think we'll forget about the golden hourglasses? It's not anything major but it is annoying and unneeded. When the game functions I enjoy playing it. It's a fun little nostalgic time killer but there really needs to be an update to address these issues. I hope Squeenix (I'm upset so I'mma gonna mess up yo' name!) fixes this but their track record of fixes/updates on the App Store isn't exactly... inspiring....Version: 1.1.0
✓ A good game that needs moreIf I could give the game 3 1/2 stars I would. But closer to 3 than 4 with the issues I have. I spent about 20$ on this game. And only regret it because there isn’t enough content and I’ve beaten all the levels paid and free. On top of that the money I spent deserves far more levels than it gave me. This game has about 60-70 total levels and needs about 3-500 with the same curve of advancement needed in the 60-70, levels. ✓ Fun time waster; egregious microtransactions.I have a lot of ways to spend my free time, but I like having small distractions at my disposal. This game fills that role wonderfully. It's not really a "game" per se, but I find it entertaining and the fan service is amusing. You can really tell that the translator had a field day with the descriptions. However, I can't forgive the microtransactions. Having to pay $35 for all the premium characters in addition to $12 for the three world tickets is outrageous. I really think that you should, at the very least, be able to spend Gil to buy the characters. $4 for a world isn't terrible, but a dollar for a character that's just a sprite on the screen is too much. Square could have easily made enough money off the world tickets and hourglasses alone. And besides, while I'm all for a point system, making the points Gil is incredibly misleading. ✓ HurtfulEvil cash grab! I feel betrayed on this one. The game itself is a unique spin on old final fantasy games. Think of it like a stripped down but enhanced ff1 dungeon. Story and exploration are pretty much gone. Battle is all that's really left but its been revamped for mobile devices. Fast paced with 12-40 party members who attack on a single tap or swipe make for short flashy battles. Cool idea when you only have a moment to play. Doesn't feel like a full game. Not only is the initial price to much for what it is, the IAP sends it through the roof. 35 premium characters for a dollar each and the one you receive is random . That would have worked if you got them in bundles of 5 or something but that's way to much. Same with the 3 additional areas which cost just as much as the app itself which isn't as bad but it still leaves a bad taste. Nothing is rewarding enough or even close to its worth. Mind you I'm still and always will be a huge fan of final fantasy but this is insulting. You cannot earn the headline heroes and heroines from the 1-13 games, you have to buy them (at which it's random whom you get.) Also progressing doesn't feel much like progressing at all, it's really just on to the next thing which felt exactly like the thing before it. Do I think it's worth paying for, eh not really. I got it for free from playing free app slots so my dislike for it may be less than someone who bought it. If I were to say something that I think is most important to take away from this is. ✓ Quality production, little gameplayFor a few bucks one expects to get a game that you can just play, but Square has gone the pay to play route with this one. Unlocking stages and characters with IAPs isn't a crime, but just dont get your party killed, or you will have the gripping choice between waiting an hour or two or buying golden hourglasses to get your team back. Your units return from the dead at a rate of one every three minutes, and with a team of up to 40 units, well you can do the math. I decided to use my wait to write this review! The gameplay is pretty thin too. There is no real customization for your team, you get a random selection of units from the types you have unlocked at the start of each battle. You drag your finger around your squad to trigger their attacks, and since each unit's cooldown time is a little different, you can't just settle into a pattern, or you will leave some units idle. Occasionally an enemy will signal an attack that you can dodge, but with a few dozen units on your side you will have your hands full just keeping them swinging, actually noticing an attack and dodging it on purpose happens much less frequently than attacks missing you by chance. Mostly, the enemy will randomly KO your units as the battle progresses, and the only useful thing you can do is to avoid letting your units idle around for long. You earn gil after each fight, but I've yet to find a way to spend it. Each enemy type carries an item, which boosts the attack for a number of your unit types. They drop at random though, and while I've convinced lots of bosses to give me their gear, I got tired of repeatedly blowing away early game goblins in an attempt to get whatever they have. Filling out the catalogue of items is an exercise in grind. The game banks heavily on retro charm and references to everything there ever was in final fantasy, but there just isn't that much to play here. There's no real plot, the game is a linear sequence of battles vs ordinary monsters and battles vs bosses from FFs rogues gallery. Grinding up your team size and finding items is the only way to avoid an unpleasant wait the next time you meet a tough boss, short of shelling out for hourglasses or named characters. I was interested in the concept, and I wanted to like it, but ATB is pretty hard to recommend..Version: 1.0.0

While the worlds were a good idea for additional gameplay, I can't help feeling that charging for characters while not allowing you to choose them is a step too far. Many loyal fans won't want the likes of Aerith or 4 moogles or 7 pigs in their team but you don't have much choice with this game. Boss battles are crazy hard and you have to either again use in app purchases to revive your characters or wait 3 minutes for one to revive at time. ✓ Cheap (expensive) floozy of a gameIf like me you grew up with final fantasy then a game that brings the characters, enemies, areas and music from a bunch of the games together probably sounds like an attractive proposition. Then you find that the entire focus of the gameplay is to slide a finger around the screen causing your party to attack, until they all die, at which point you have to wait for them to come back, like in time management games. You know, those games that are *always* free for the initial download. Until now. Then you find that most of the content you probably wanted (named characters, game-specific environments etc) is deemed "premium" content, despite the fact that at £2.50 the app is more premium than most. Then you find that said content is incredibly bad value, since a world pack that costs the same as the game is just a handful of new levels and really boils down to two new pieces of music, one new environment (ie small background image), and a handful of new enemy sprites which are mostly different coloured versions of the same sprite. Then you work it out and discover that to buy all the content would cost over £40, making this the worst value "mini-game" I've ever seen. Then you look at achievements (which luckily no one cares about), which are mostly like "unlock all premium characters" (34 x 79p), or "beat all premium bosses (3 x £7.99). It's strangely addictive, but will leave you feeling cheated and empty inside. A real waste of time and money. (For what it's worth I have purchased many other square apps on the App Store, and despite their higher-than-usual price for the AppStore, I generally find them to be excellent value. ✓ Don't write it off entirely!Okay, yes, there's a LOT of in-app purchases (Although you don't 'need' a single one of them.) and it's not an RPG. Technically it's not even a game. In fact if there was an auto-attack button of some kind you wouldn't actually have to do anything at all. All that aside however, I actually really enjoyed 'playing' this! I've just finished the final boss on the main quest and got myself a decent chunk of the bestiary filled in and now I'm going back to hunt out the rest of the monsters. This is more a slightly interactive, musical picture book of really nice pixel art, and for that I really am enjoying it. I've splashed out for two Premium characters and It's really cool to see little pixel representations of more modern characters. The only down side to that is that it's randomised, which is blatantly a massive cash-grab. Don't get me wrong, the game's not perfect in any way shape or form and could desperately use a massive, free update to add some more modes or something to make it more of a game. But if you take it for what it is, then it's a nice little time waster and a little pixel shaped trip down memory lane..Version: 1.0.0

✓ One more insult from squareThe game certainly looks cool and I have to say when I saw the trailer I was like "that looks amazing and intense! How does it work!". Well past me it works by vein the most insultingly simple game ever. All you do is swipe back and fourth. No strategy at all. Apart from the marketing strategy. Pay an extra $0.99 for a random character. These are the characters you actually want by the way. Also you may have seen ffvii levels in promo material, well get the wallet out once more you're paying for that too. This game is idiotic there is nothing to it. ✓ DO NOT BUY!I am incredibly disappointed with this sad excuse for a cash grab. Final Fantasy All the Bravest, is a pixel art gallery at best. There is no story, no objective, no party customization, no strategy, no game mechanics at all. Each "battle" begins with an enemy team on the left and a team of heroes on the right. The player swipes across the screen to make the heroes attack until all of the enemies are defeated or until all of the heroes are eliminated. If the enemy successfully wipes out your party of heroes, fret not, you just wait an amount of time for more heroes to reappear on the battlefield. After an enemy is defeated you are Showered with XP and Gil that mean nothing to the game as there is nothing that comes from leveling up and the only shop that exists in the game accepts credit cards only. If you're feeling exceptionally silly, you can spend $.99 in hopes of receiving a random named character sprite that has a unique (albeit useless) attack animation. For an additional $3.99, the cost of the app again, you "unlock" additional levels based on other Final Fantasy games. These level equate to purchasing the ability to look at useless enemy sprites. There is nothing fun about FFATB, it is an abusive video game mechanic that is nothing more than Square Enix trying to profit off of the name of a once great franchise. ✓ Two dumbed down for a FFGame no strategy or choicesThis is a free game so I’m not going to be too critical, but it’s like they just recycled content from the 16 bit classic games into a button masher. It just makes you want to play an actual old game. There is 0 strategy or options and you can’t even spend your Gill on anything it’s just the equivalent of a score. Everything is automatic equipment etc. nothing to do no choices to make no menus can’t equip or change anything just takes you along a path on the map from one battle to another all you do in battle is swipe the screen as fast as you can ... this may be fun if your 4 yrs old but if you grew up on FF games this is nostalgic, and disappointing / frustrating at the same time. It feels incredibly shallow.. Can’t spend your game $ but they still have things you can waste your actual cash on .. that’s why they made this game to sell you pixels....Version: 1.1.2

✓ Oh dear....Whilst it a pointless tap or swipe game I do love the old pixelated art and in game music but this game has no life and is full of IAP's. you can unlock 25 in game characters but to unlock the other 30 or so they cost £0.69 each then to unlock another 3 worlds which only contain 3stages each (takes 2mins to do each stage they charge nearly £8 for. Over all to have the complete game it's nearly £30 plus the £2.49 to download it!! Well over prices for such a simple game that looked like it took a day to make cause someone at SE was bored! Why don't you focus on FF X HD for vita and ps3 instead of silly overpriced games or make a FFV for iOS. Or remake the SNES final fantasy mystic legends for iOS instead!
