✓ Bad gameI played this game to level 30 It is just a bad version of clash of clans where you don’t get to actually fight the battles, you even have to wait ages sending troops and the graphics are awful. The game didn’t get anymore interesting as I progressed..Version: 4.55.17
✓ Constant PoP-UpsAs the title says, constant pop-ups are ruining the game. Whilst I understand they need to make money, a lot of money, the constant interruptions whilst trying to set up for an attack or incoming defence are becoming ridiculous. Sometime 6 or 8, one after the other. However, if you do have deep pockets, very deep indeed, the game can be quite good. ✓ Confusing and CostlyDon’t get this game unless you have a lot of money to burn! I have been playing this game for over 9 years and it has turned into a pay to win game. Players who can’t afford to spend a lot are getting slaughtered by the big spenders. In an effort to even the playing field Goodgame just released “the update of the century” their words. All it is doing is making the game much more complicated and too cumbersome to play. I imagine any new players will not play for long since it is confusing for experienced players unless they spend a lot of money to buy a high level account that is for sale. ✓ It’s all about the money….Been playing this game for about five years. It is generally well designed and can be a lot of good fun, however the game’s developers are so craven (for money) that unless you are willing to spent a fortune - like 100s of pounds on a regular basis - your progress is limited. Take the five day Horizon event for example, thousands of people participate from around the world and it can be very exciting but only the top 400 get any significant rewards and to get into the top 400 or anywhere near it you need to spend a lot of money. You essentially pay for your position, it’s not about skill. The players who are willing to pay out a load, can farm the other 95% of participants - get the amazing rewards and leave the rest wondering why they bothered. The developers are only interested in the top 5% of players and it will eventually kill off the game. The only reason I’ve not given up yet is the friendships with other players that have built up over the years. My advice - avoid it. ✓ Waste of Time and MoneyPay to win. Great UI and gameplay, but you need to sink at least $30 into this or higher players will wipe the floor with you. Got banned for having 5 gift cards on my account I had used for buying the currency. So not only am I unable to play again, GG has roughly $50 that i can’t refund. ✓ Broken ServerThis is getting to be a habit. Cannot login because server is broken, thus cannot collect taxes, losing 140,000 gold coin a da. Then to make matters worse, my castle gets burnt to the ground while I wait for incompetent tech support to fix. I say incompetent because as a professional programmer we never reprogrammed a game or a website live. We did our work in our lab and tested on every known device and version of op that might be on people's devices. Does this game and for that matter Apple adhere to such strict standards. NO way. ✓ Waste of time and moneyI have played this game for sometime now and all was great until I kept getting attacked everyday, the game gives you shield I believe for like an hour but then attacks can occur, players in the game are terrible and will constantly attack you giving you no chance of stopping fires and rebuilding your army, honestly I want to quit the game as one day I rebuild my army only to be crushed by someone who’s payed 20 pounds on an army, it’s really unfair and players constantly gang up on you giving you no chance. Fires take too long to put out especially when you’ve been attacked constantly throughout the day by multiple people from the same clan. ✓ Not too badSee, I'm on both sides this game does require a lot of supplies to keep you entertained and it is very hard to get supplies so I recommend you to join an alliance. I appreciate that you have put quests in the game but you should definitely change it to goals or tasks because quests sounds like your going somewhere however these quests have helped me learn how to work the game although it is very bugging when you cannot figure out how to do something and I think you should make a thing where they get a choice if they can do the short tutorial or not, this will make sure that people know how to do a few basics also you could actually put the population up the top so they know how many people also it would be so cool if could literally add people walking around as the population goes up I will consider giving this a better rating and sharing it with my friends as soon as you add these few things..Version: 1.30.60
✓ Constantly losing foodI keep losing food due to my soldiers. Due to one of the events, I kept earning the highest level soldiers as rewards. When I would get off the game for a while, all of a sudden I was losing all this food and all of these soldiers ended up in my army without my consent. You can’t give a low level player high level soldiers because they can’t afford to feed them. “So why not get rid of them?” Really? Who would actually stick with a low tier soldier over a high tier? ✓ Good game with a greedy developerGood game have created a very fun and somewhat addictive game. As a high level player their rubies are required to survive and succeed. As a member of one of the top in game alliances we have become somewhat disillusioned with the developer in recent times. If we have to seriously consider every time we spend rubies it takes the fun out of the game. ✓ Expensive and poor user interfaceThe concept of this game is good, particularly the ability to group up in alliances, however the execution is really poor. The game gets really very expensive as you progress through the ranks with the so-needed Rubbys, and map does not work when there are a lot of people accessing. They have severe server issues, poor user interface and the world map just does NOT work at all when you need the most, which is during the battles. That is a very limiting, frustrating and expensive gaming experience. Best advice is to look for another game and stay away from this one. NOT WORTH IT!!!.Version: 1.8.26
✓ Now unplayableI’ve been playing this game now for over 6 years and it’s now virtually unplayable for 3 reasons; 1) Pop ups, basically GG adverts which appear pretty Much constantly whilst you try to play, 2) Bullies who constantly sabotage, (Plutos37, Green Army Stu) they are ruining the game, 3) GG allowing top players (Great Christian) to do pretty much what they like, when they hit lower players, not only can you not hit them back, but the damage they cause is soul destroying and it takes weeks to extinguish the fires. ✓ Money pitBeware downloading and installing this game. They claim FTP but have made so many changes to this game to make it budget-friendly. They have also recently decreased the amount of content you can get for free to either force you to buy or force you to quit. There is no more in between and playing events for free in order to be more selective on spending. THIS GAME IS NOT FTP FRIENDLY, so please do not expect it to be anything other than a place to waste time and money. Everything takes a long time to do. Goals are not accomplished easily. That is not a complaint, because I knew this going in as a returning player. What I did not expect was for GG to limit my FTP options so much that it is virtually impossible to play any portion of this game without spending $15-40, at minimum, for every event (occurs every 2-3 days) plus investing $50-$100 per international event (occurring every 5 days or so). Basically, if you want a reasonably priced way to spend your time, THIS IS NOT THE GAME FOR YOU. ✓ More Pay 2 Win Everyday, Lack Of PVPThis game is great without a doubt I have had an amazing time playing it with fellow friends and alliance members and it is a fun experience. However this game is a subtle pay to win game. People with the cash buy the better commanders, casts and armies/ tools to better their opponents. With new events coming in such as beyond the horizon this game has tilted the scale even further towards pay to win players. These people can simply buy whatever they need win the event and collect the new relic buildings and build items in order to further expand their power. I come from US2 and one or two groups literally own the entire server and it’s ridiculous. Good game studios continues to do this crap in all of their games though and that is what will be the downfall of the game. One more note, the lack of pvp in this game is terrible. Everyone either protects each other or has some no hit policy in store that constantly results in any one alliance getting out of hand to be put back into a peaceful utopia. It’s a war game not build your castle simulator everyone should be fighting, but as I said earlier no one wants to fight because they will only lose what they have paid for. ✓ Worldwide BoycottGoodgame Studios has been lying to consumers about their app in order to defraud players of thousands of dollars. I have played this game for six months and GGS have misrepresented the recent Equipment caps of 90% to me as a glitch in their software which they say they finally corrected, yet they informed no one about this glitch while they continued to rake in millions of dollars worldwide for 2 months because of the error. This has led to a general worldwide boycott of the game. As a result of the boycott, this company has shown that it is not only ill-equipped to deal with the volume of complaints currently being lodged, but they think they can just re-incentivize players with ruby offers while offering little in compensation to those who have been duped by the company’s misrepresentations. You should not play this game, you will regret the money you spend on it, many are lodging complaints and seeking refunds..Version: 1.6.30

✓ Pay to winImagine you and a enemy play this, you both start at the same time but your enemy is significantly richer and likely to buy premium currency. A week in and you guys both find out that each of you play the game and you engage in pvp. Because you spent more time and effort in the game initially, you start of on a good note, attacking him and defending his hits successfully. But suddenly your enemy buys a lot of premium currency and instantly has better commanders, Castilians, can hold more troops and send out more armies while also having significantly better siege tools. You become helpless and can no longer win against him so you look to ways you can acquire the premium currency without paying real money. Well you just ran out of luck, yes there are ways, but it’s almost impossible to use those routes, npcs that drop this premium currency are farmed by others that buy premium currency and the ones that drop very little premium currency are not worth the time since in game inflation is worse than the Venezuelan economic crisis, the “wishing well” that adds 2000 premium currency after a long wait was basically murdered by the game company to “control the game economy” while shoving get 100% more rubies and special reward packages when you buy rubies now, if you buy a large enough premium currency package of course, can’t be giving you rewards for cheap packages, the company would lose out on potential revenue that way. They shove this into your face with annoying in game pop ups because it’s important to remind you they are trying to “balance the game economy”. Solution? Quit, uninstall and not download ever again because this game is an absolute cash grab that makes EA look like an honest and hard working non for profit publisher.Version: 2.3.9

Because of the high cost nobody wants to pvp. For me pvp is the best part, but the high cost to play/rebuild makes people join the big pay for play alliances which have rules that frown on pvp battles. These Alliances have one hit rules, which discourages rivalry. It’s too costly and predictable and makes trying to gain power without being a absorbed or affiliated with these alliances impossible. The game is great if you are looking to make good friends and chat. If you like doing events and missions this game have plenty. ✓ Two starsDon’t get me wrong this game is great through the first twenty levels, but after that, it slows down significantly. Construction becomes A LOT more costly and takes much longer, sometimes even a couple real world days. To evade this you have to buy items that cost rubies, which are not very common to get. Rubies are that currency in a game where you have to buy it to have fun and do well, and empire is no exception. You may however meet many nice people in alliances but that doesn’t change the gameplay. They can send you resources and defense but these take time too, and if you want to speed up the process significantly, you guessed it, you need RUBIES. You also need rubies to be able to build several buildings simultaneously, and you need them to heal special units. You even need them to buy a bakery which makes you produce food faster therefore allowing you to have a larger army. Anyways what I’m saying is the game relies too much on rubies which are hard to get unless you buy them (which I have never done) but if you are looking for a game to play for a week or two, maybe even a month, then yes I recommend this one. Been playing game for years , it’s a great game,and as expensive as it looks it’s actually getting cheaper by the day, a year back or more I’ve spent around 2.6 mill Ruby’s on a Super commander “highlander” awesome bit of kit and now you can get it for less than half ammount, crazy ! And variety now it’s great BUT Good Game , please review your technikus tent as in my opinion no point having a lot of variety in equipment if it’s a pain to tech all the time (could be a fix ammount of coins to upgrade every stage ) rather than hilarious % .... as an IOS user I’m fed up of delays in updates that sometimes cost me to loose 10k troops of more depending ....overall I’m giving 4 stars as I find technikus trader should have a serious review to match the variety of equipment that can be easily obtained and updates on IOS . They changed it so you can’t participate in events as a lower level player. If you want to be competitive at a higher level you have to buy tools if you want a chance at good rewards. Servers are run by people who spend about a 200$ a week. If you want to participate in events in other realms you need to spend $. Even if you want to participate in regular events you have to pay to reach the next level or spend about a month to reach the next tier each time. Not a great support team. ✓ Death by 1,000 small purchasesThe developers have created small differences in its in game equipment that make it easy to mistakenly place very similar game equipment together that when not matched properly you don’t enjoy the bonus which the purchased equipment are intended to provide. The only way to undo the “mistake” is to spend rubies which cost real money. This small practice is DESIGNED to confuse the players and extract a little more money from you. It’s a choice to play the game and it’s a choice to spend money on this game. Given the deceptive design in a game which is understandably designed to make me spend money I find this to be a greedy over reach. There are plenty of features that induce the desire to purchase in game bonuses to improve your position and strength. But to design the game to confuse players to extract more money is over the top. ✓ Needs more free stuffI find it very slow to build houses and other items money is hard to make and takes to much of your time up. I've brought items spending money and found it wasn't worth it because the amount of money and rubies you get are not enough to build and grow your castle. ✓ Pay to win?This game is phenomenally fun and very well designed. It is very immersive and sets you in a great community with many choices to make just like a castle lord. But I’ll usually pay a little bit for a game since I like to support the game and receive a little upper hand when starting it out. So I bought a couple offers including the starter pack. Both of which included new troops. And unfortunately you can’t produce enough food to keep these troops for very long. What a dirty trick for this company to pull... so now to keep my new troops I either have to spend more money to level up faster in order to support the troops, or I have to just let them die and waste the money I just spent... and so I thought instead I’ll just build more farms and raise my food production. A few farms in and it says, sorry but the more farms you make, the slower the new farms produce. Are you serious? This game is full of constant money traps. Raise a support request/complaint and no matter how simple or carefully you explain the issue, and the company is obviously aware as it generally effects many players and the usual response is “we don’t understand the problem, please explain again.” You are constantly bombarded with offers to buy equipment etc so you have to click through up to 15 pop-ups when you log in before you can actually play the game. It makes logging in for a few minutes to check status etc an exercise in frustration. If the game was like this when I started I wouldn’t have continued past the first day. The game is also idiotic on notifications: losing 5000 troops to starvation is not worthy of Notification Center, but you DO get notified when there are $250 worth of troops in your hospital to heal. And bc there is limited space in your hospital, if there are more wounded than hospital space available, the game prioritizes the ruby troops knowing you can’t pay while kicking out the troops you can heal with coins and time rather than your money in your pocket.
