This is not like candy crush. This is not a rip-off version of Tetris. This is a unique style of puzzle games. Those negative reviewers have never been around with this game as long as anyone like I have. I do agree that the one advertisement with the lady that knocks on the screen is a bit annoying, but that doesn’t change the way I feel about this game. It’s helped me cope with stress by distracting me and eventually forget that I was ever upset. I have just one suggestion: making getting extra moves a little bit easier.. maybe when the player has a difficult time, (say they play one level over 5 times and they don’t complete it) the game would let the player have one or two lives added to the level, so they could get that chance of winning it. ✓ So many pop upsThis game is fun and vibrant and I’ve been playing it since 2018. However, it is plagued with pop ups and the rewards at high levels are minuscule. Sometimes you have to dismiss up to 7 popups, some of which want you to spend money, before you can get to play a level. What bothers me the most is that if you use in-game gold to boost, the pop ups keep coming between levels. The popups are so slow to display and the option to dismiss them usually takes a few seconds to appear so your precious boost time gets eaten up with wasted popup screens. Some of them can’t be dismissed until you’ve waited for some painfully slow animations to run out. Some pop ups require you to click through a number of animation states before you can escape them. It is SO addictive :) kudos to the creators of this fantastic game! The progress to Mount doom used to be very consistent until lately all new levels have been grouped into one stop along the path. I really don’t like this. Part of the allure was moving through the different territories with the hope of finally seeing Mount Doom. Now instead of moving you through the territory one level at a time, it is grouping five or six games into one stop in order to stall your progress through the current territory. ✓ Fun yet frustratingMost of the time I can get through multiple levels with no issues. Then you get to one, sometimes not even one of the “hard” levels and you just can’t get past it. Like another review I read, I think there is an algorithm that does this on purpose in order to encourage people to buy the gold pieces to get more moves. I’ve spent more than I’d like to admit on this game… probably about 35$… on a free app. I have since promised myself to not spend another dime on this game and just deal with getting stuck on a single level sometimes for multiple days. Another issue is no matter how much I play and try to finish a season out completely or any of the daily event things they do I never can finish in it’s entirety. Again, I think it’s a way to entice people to spend money in order to progress more quickly. Nonetheless it’s a fun and addictive game. ✓ Impossible Unless Lucky in High LevelsI like this game a lot. I’ve even made some in app purchases. But I’m in the 500s now and it’s starting to feel like some levels are “impossible unless you get lucky”. This takes the whole point out of it being a puzzle game. It’s more of a luck game at that point. I’m currently on level 530 and I genuinely can’t beat it because I’m either 1 move too short or the blobs that the boss slug spits out moves to the ONLY spot I could use to make progress in beating the level, which makes it impossible to beat. It just gets more frustrating than fun. I’d be willing to watch ads to get power ups, but I can only watch once for one power up, and even then the power ups are sometimes useless in completing a level. I also can’t use gold to get more moves because there aren’t enough ways to earn gold without paying. Even with the events that you can earn gold in, you can’t replay old levels to earn towards those and you loose everything for the event if you loose a level. It just gets really frustrating. ✓ Surprisingly addictiveThis game is consistently advertised on this podcast I listen to (not another dnd podcast to be specific) and the part about it being able to be played offline caught my attention. I live in an area where data is often bad so having an offline compatible game is very rare but appreciated these days for me. It’s a pretty simple puzzle game but because it’s so easy to play it gets very addicting to just keep going through level after level especially considering how much it rewards you after every win. I prefer playing offline because the amount it tries to bombard you with ads to buy super expensive power ups is crazy!! I’ve played games with micro transactions before and definitely thought it was worth it but looking at what you can buy here vs what it actually gets you it isn’t worth it. ✓ Better game than mostI’ve been playing off and on for several years. It’s consistently good, and you only have to watch ads for keys or wheel spins, which is nice. Here’s my one problem: if you’ve ever watched the South Park episode ‘Freemium’s Not Free’, you’ll understand the machinations of this game perfectly. 90% of the challenges can only be won if you’re spending money. And 99% of the time, the ‘Hard’ or ‘Very Hard’ levels are not difficult, they’re just hard or very hard to win because the required pieces to collect are not made available unless you’re buying extra moves. It’s clear that it’s intentional. For example, if you need to collect 175 green leaves, the closer you get to the end of the provided moves, you’ll fewer and fewer green leaves get dropped. And if you run out of moves, and buy extra ones with gold (cash purchase required) you’ll (usually) suddenly get all the leaves you needed. Otherwise, you’ll play that level dozens and dozens of times, until you get that board where it’s almost too easy. And some challenges (the board game, for one) absolutely cannot be won unless you’re buying the bonus bundles to move forward. So I give it 4 stars. The levels are all so different and it never gets tiring. However, I am a little confused about something. Between now and when I began playing on my old IPad, there are a couple things missing. I can’t seem to find the earthworm quests and fiend quests. I am past level 200 at this point and I am pretty sure I should’ve unlocked Edwards Quest by now. Upgrading your army of fiends to annihilate your enemy slugs is fun, and each has their own strengths and uniqueness. My only cons with this game are; even having paid some money to buy some more gold it’s none stop popping up with ‘the store’ and offers plus it’s far far too quick to show you the next move. A game should be somewhat challenging. Whilst this game is in certain respects, I’d rather work it out for myself. Not like it’s against the clock or anything (I abhor ‘timed’ games), just instant showing you what to do. I’m not 3 years old (I wish) and can work it out for myself. Two major frustrations I have are the price of gold, items, packs, etc… and the mega boost function. Paying $30 should get you a LOT of content, not just one fiend that isn’t even leveled up. If I am spending money, it should be worth while. Mega boost is so fun and allows players to boost through levels extremely quickly. Occasionally, the game gives you free handouts of mega boost time. I’ve been playing for about two years now (I think, that’s what it feels like anyway) and the game has yet to get old or stale. They are constantly updating content and challenges, and the new leader board feature shows you how you stack up against other players. I have NEVER spent a dime purchasing gold bars or other “offers” (though I have been tempted!), and have beaten all of the main levels and am currently over 500 levels into the Hero stages, so purchases DEFINITELY are not required to win. The only gripe I have is that sometimes, when logging back in, the game changes my selected Fiends (and yes, I have turned off the auto-Fiend select option), and when I logged in today, almost all my gold was gone. I have the game installed on both my iPhone and iPad, but my iPad has been off for weeks with a cracked screen, otherwise I would have thought my kids had messed with the game. I’m glad I didn’t pay for the gold, but I did work hard for it. This may be a glitch that needs looked into with the latest update. Otherwise, a fabulous game that I can’t seem to stop playing. ✓ I don’t usually play mobile games like these but…It’s so addictive. I’ve only had the game a few weeks and I’m already on level 270-something. I play mobile games like Genshin Impact and Wild Rift but, these types of games usually have a bunch of ads that annoy me so much that I don’t want to play the game anymore and usually that ends with me deleting it. I like that there aren’t frequent, forced ads and that you can play pretty continuously without being interrupted. I also really enjoy that there’s always events going on and how easy it is to earn unlimited things like energy and power ups. You don’t really have to make in-app purchases unless you’re actively grinding and running out of everything. My only complaint right now would me that there aren’t options to lower in-game volume. I like to listen to streams and podcasts when I’m playing and the in-game and even though I’ve turned off the music, the sound-effects are super loud. This game gives you opportunities to advance when you get stuck, but it also provides enough bonuses and events that it isn’t always a pay to win scenario. It also has rotating timed objectives, so you aren’t constantly on the same objective all the time. Even if you don’t beat a level the game still rewards you by giving you a small reward. All around this game is entertaining, fun, and a pleasant way to entertain yourself for five minutes or three hours(which may be an amount of time I’ve actually spent playing this game). Also in the beginning don’t feel you have to purchase items, I’m only buying them because I have gift cards available to do so. For example, if you’re having a hard time with a level, the game will eventually start adding turns to help you. You can also always get more energy (lives) by simply watching a video, though they have improved the game so much I almost never run out of energy. And it’s just so enjoyable. I work in a high stress job and this is such a delightful way to relax. The games aren’t mindless - if you think about strategy you will progress faster - but if you don’t feel like thinking you can randomly solve too. I love the characters and the music and the thought and the different types of adventures. I love that there are choices about characters. I will occasionally spend money in the game because I’m happy to reward the company for so much entertainment. However I will never spend more than the $2.99 boosts and really wish they would bring $1.99 options back. This money is all for optional things - once again never required to progress. They are constantly improving and I appreciate that. At this point they just need to figure out something we can do with all these stinkin yellow meteorites - I have over 5 million!! ✓ Wonderful gameThere’s nothing bad I have to say about the game really. It is a very good game. The only things I would suggest is if there was a way to convert diamonds into gold.
