I don’t often write reviews, but NordVPN is a horrific serviceAs stated in the title, I wouldn’t often write a review unless I feel it’s highly warranted. In this case NordVPN has has nothing but issues, including connection issues, having to relog into the service on a very regular basis, and the reconnect button only working 10% of the time. On top of this, they make unsubscribing from their service extremely difficult as they know once people actually use their service for a decent amount of time, they won’t be renewing their subscription. I couldn’t possibly recommend this VPN any less, stay away..Version: 7.15.0

Sad to report that NordVPN is unpredictable nowNord worked great for a long time. But when my subscription ended last month Nord prevented my wifi from working and also prevented me from accessing my data with my phone. I had to randomly try turning it off. If the subscription is ending, then just end and stop trying to connect to the VPN that is no longer available. Despite this, because I needed a VPN and it had worked well in the past, I renewed for a month. Now there are too many times when I turn it on, and the VPN simply prevents me from accessing any websites or connecting to data and is completely useless and I have to turn it off to actually do anything. For example, if I put a search into Google, then my browser might just spin indefinitely and never move. As soon as I turn Nord off it works fine again. I am not sure the monthly price is justified based on the inconsistency. I am not as trusting of NordVPN after mostly having good experiences with it because it now feels too erratic. That being said, it works great when it's actually working and I do believe they can make tweaks to fix these problems. Just a little frustrating at the moment..Version: 8.23.0

Had a review written but apparently Nord doesn’t like poor reviewsHad just submitted a review through the link on the Nord app but because I rated them a 2 because there are issues with using map navigation when Nord is connected. However as I clicked the submit button it said “not connected” which has now dropped them to a 1 star rating. If you try to use map navigation when Nord is connected you would be very lucky to get that feature to work. If it does and you bounce off of another cell tower you navigation will suddenly stop. Had this happen twice on a 10 minute, 5 mile drive today. Had it happen yesterday for a 4 mile, 4 minute drive where the navigation wouldn’t even work. Had to use the phone settings to disconnect the Nord app as it wouldn’t even pause in the app itself. Changed the app settings to “on Wi-Fi only” and even set my personal Wi-Fi as a trusted network so hopefully it won’t lose the map navigation when I start out at my own home. In this last trip Nord connected to Denver, then reconnected to United Kingdom, and then to United Arab Emarites. Had to set the server connection to United States and fastest in US to hopefully stop the server bouncing as well. Don’t go with their recommended settings when it comes to server and auto connect or you will get screwed over when using map navigation apps..Version: 8.22.0

Was Great but Terrible LatelyI’ve had my NordVPN since June and it has been great. Had no issues with it and I was very happy. Now all of a sudden over the last few weeks, the app has become absolute trash. Often takes forever to connect, forces me to close out of the app and reopen it, forces me to delete the app and reinstall numerous times just to be able to sign in. A new thing developed over the last few weeks too is it likes to sign me out of my account and then tell me my info is wrong. It won’t connect to a server, I go to the app and realize it’s because it randomly signed me out. I try to login with my credentials and it tells me it’s wrong. I’m able to sign in on the website with my credentials just fine. I delete the app and try again and still won’t work. Usually have to delete it a handful of times and wait an hour or so and then will let me sign back in with the same credentials I have been trying for the past hour. Not sure what they have done with the app over the last month or so, but it’s seriously trashed the functionality and ease of use. Getting pretty frustrated when I need to use my VPN daily at work and I have to sit here for an hour jerking around with the app because it won’t take my credentials..Version: 5.2.1

Why does this App cause my iPhone to stop working???The device I use most frequently is my iPhone but whenever I install it on my phone the phone stops connecting to the internet. The people at Apple knew instantly it was the VPN and got the phone working as soon as the VPN was uninstalled. I tried to reinstall and same problem. I have asked NordVPN to help but nothing! I asked a friend who also has an iPhone and NordVPN and he told me he had to uninstall the App from his iPhone. Why not warn purchasers or fix the problem? Patchy at bestBeen using Nord for awhile. Has never been perfect but become worse the last few months. On iPhone, MBP and MBA logs out for no reason every 2 days or so even when supposed to stay signed in, won’t auto connect or shows it’s connected but takes ages to work - sometimes for over a minute. Often it stays frozen and have to quit the app (which doesn’t always work) or disconnect the internet. Going into settings on iPhone and turning off the the VPN is overridden multiple times before it works. Tech support state they know the issue and are working on it. Recent update didn’t fix it. Tech support now email only so takes days to get an answer. If issues keep happening won’t be using Nord again..Version: 7.9.1

What a messI’ve been asking for 2 features for 6 years now and no one gives a dam. App drops connections all the time and will not warm with a msg that connection is dropped. 2. When trying to reconnect it only tries for 15 seconds or so and then gives up, there should be a block internet setting where no access unless it reconnects or someone reconnects but still didn’t include it. It’s like they don’t care about privacy! Always connect is on but still drops connection and stop retrying after a few seconds ruins the whole app. Smh many unfixed issues, connection droops, many times app frozen wount connect and many many times wount reconnect after turning phone on or reconnecting from a constant connection drop. Update: still nothing fixed!!! App drops connections all the time and that’s if u can actually connect. Takes 10-30 min to connect sometimes. App stops trying after 30sec. 90% of the time you click buttons on app and nothing even happens. Issues after issues each week it gets worse and worse! If you are connected to one sever for over 5min it stops working. Can’t get anytning done till you switch servers and that’s takes like 15-30min because the app is so bad! I’ve had enough. Always has connection problems and latencyThe connection will be interrupted or unable to connect. When I use home wifi or a mobile network, the VPN server connection is always unstable. It is “reconnecting” or “connection timeout” most of the time. It is not easy to open the browser or any internet connection. I will have to manually disconnect and reconnect again and again until it is “connected and has IP Address” When I am using the mobile network, it is a nightmare, especially when you are on 4G Network. The latency via the NordVPN network makes the connection between the device and the destination website becomes challenging. It is recalling my memory of about back to 30 years ago, like using 56k modem. I have tried different protocols, servers, and on different iPhones. The issues has never resolved. The time has issue since it came across with the news regarding nordvpn and surfshark vpn were combined. I am curious what happened there. Poor serviceIs it a company that takes your money and makes it very difficult to try and make contact with them again. If you want to cancel subscription none of their links work you have to find some random backdoor to get to their ChatBot, and they keep insisting you keep your account until 30 minutes later you finally get to a real person. Then that real person is trained to annoy you to try and just give up and keep your subscription it is a joke! Oh and did I mention? This VPN did not work with any of the websites that I wanted to access!!! And the reason I wanted to cancel!.Version: 7.19.1

Excellent, but with some annoyanceWorks well, but occasionally logs you out. This is not a problem as you can set the kill switch to disconnect from the internet if this happens. My major gripe is that Nord have a policy of encouraging you to change your Nord password occasionally. A nag screen will block your screen and insist that you change your password now! This is annoying and disruptive to my workflow. I appreciate the need for having to change passwords, but I don’t like being told that I have to do it now! I contacted support (which is excellent) to complain. My response was a cut and pasted corporate reply explaining why it is important to change passwords occasionally. It was an unapologetic reply, and I felt like a criminal for daring to challenge it. Overall, an excellent product, good speeds and an occasional insistent reminder to change your password. Frustrating to useJuly 2023: The review below was posted a year ago. Tried again with my still-in-force subscription - no improvement. Can’t even log in. When you select”contact us” you are directed to the login window. Thanks NordVPN. Do not buy this “service”. Incompetent thieves. July 2022: I consider myself tech-savvy, and this app frustrates me to no end. It interferes with certain web-based functionality, such as comment forums. When there is no wifi service and you’re relying on cellular data, the app attempts to connect even though it is set to wifi only. At such times, no data makes it through. When you attempt to turn the app off through the “pause” functionality, the app informs you are unprotected and then attempts repeatedly to connect again. Again, no data gets through. In short, the app protects you in the way that a steel box around your house would: you can’t go through the door. In numerous cases, I have solved the issue by deleting the app. (And when I informed the company of the issue and requested a refund, the company let me know I was beyond the trial period. That was true, so they are within their rights, but to me it says all that is needed about their sense of customer service.).Version: 8.11.0

No support for Australian streaming servicesI purchased NordVPN for one reason - to access Australian streaming services like Kayo while I’m stuck overseas due to the pandemic. It worked ok during 2020, but now the streamers know all the Nord ports and have blocked them. Nord support just apologises but has no solution, and refuses to refund me. Fairly good, but not great in countries with VPN blocksAs of current in Uganda (where I currently live) only the IKEv2 protocol works. This is due to the telecos blocking VPNs in general. Hopefully NordVPN’s IKEv2 doesn’t die out too. Anyway, as a result of these blocks, the NordVPN app does tend to freeze when I try other protocols. I usually have to close and reopen the app in order to use it. I’m guessing the app doesn’t quite handle such exceptions/circumstances well. Aside from this, it would be nice to have the ability to favourite specific servers rather than countries (as is already possible on the NordVPN MacOS/desktop app). I’ve found certain servers from a given country (eg. UK) tend to work, whilst others fail. So I’d appreciate being able to specifically favourite servers I know are functional..Version: 7.1.0

Can’t configure, go figure.Remote content being loaded on device through vpn configurations. Just can’t get this thing right. Forgive me Nord if This is incorrect. My google account keeps showing sites in my history that I didn’t visit. Nothing that appears to be abnormal or illegal, however the difference in suggestions I’ve received (free advice) are various. Someone suggested that embedded links could be hidden within. I am not tech savvy. Unreliable Nord VPNI have been using Nord for sometime now. The only consistent aspect of Nord, is that it’s an unreliable VPN service! I have been trialling Proton VPN on my partners’ device for sometime monitoring the performance of both VPN services. Nord needs to be constantly checked to see if it is connected. Often it is not connected. On and off I have found that Nord will not connect leaving my device open and vulnerable. Both Proton and Nord are paid services. Nord should be providing a more reliable service than it currently offers. Nord is not a community service. It’s a paid service and needs to get its act together. NEVER AGAIN NORDVPN! CREATED CHAOS FOR ME AFTER AN 'UPDATE' months ago.After paying for many years of Nordvpn it suddenly stopped working. EVERYTHING online became a nightmare. Hours and hours working with online NORDVPN fixed nothing. Finally they told me "wait for the app to fix itself". MONTHS LATER NOTHING IS 'FIXED'! I stupidly paid for an annual subscription. MONEY WASTED. Now I have a free (limited version) Proton VPN and everything works 100% of the time. I WILL NEVER USE ANY 'NORD' product again. The app installed on my phone like a ghost -- a pale inert icon -- the tech incarnation of a paperweight. Hours and hours online with tech help. Finally the online tech helper said "wait for the app to fix itself". Really!!!!!? Now, finally, the app is updated and I try to connect to a VPN. But it doesn't work! No connections! No protection! After I committed to a 3-year prepaid subscription I am forced to pay for and install a competing app, ExpressVPN? What kind of business are you running? You're so popular that an individual user, like me, means nothing? (1) I paid in advance. Was good, now crap.It was good, but over time the service gets slower, fails to connect and if you reach customer service they will blame your device so there is no accountability. So it works 80% of the time, it if I were you start elsewhere, they are just a company that is too big wielding their marketing clout to get you to sign up with them. Also, they push updates that don’t run on software that apple t supports, which could force you to upgrade your OS to use the vpn which will probably break versions of other software that you do not want to update because your current app versions would not support the new OS. This happened to me, avoid NordVPN. You can probably do better. To top it off, they will respond to this post with a canned response that is slightly edited, to give the appearance of caring. Save yourself. Buy another vpn elsewhere and pay monthly especially because once you sign up for a one time “savings” they make it difficult to get your money back. I’d have to take them to small claims court, but I am short on time. Scammy pricing and auto renewalCompany will auto-renew a 1 year plan weeks early at a cost 66% higher than what you would pay if you just bought a 1 year plan on their website. Brought this up in a customer service chat after being surprised by the early billing and higher cost charge on my cc. I was offered a discount and (twice) told that they value their recurring customers. Their pricing and billing practices definitely do not reflect such a statement! If you choose nord, DON’T LET THEM AUTO-RENEW, you will pay more. Response to Developer: Did you know that, on average, a person agrees to more TOS text than they have waking hours to read in any given year? Hiding such an unfavorable practice in your TOS rather than being upfront about it broke my trust as a customer. I relied on your brand name and trusted that you don't employ tactics to take advantage by charging your auto-renew customers so much more. It was technically a mistake on my part for not digging through your TOS to find this pricing policy of yours, but I refuse to do any more business with a company that chooses to obscure something such as a 66% price hike upon renewal, not to mention this is grossly overpaying for a VPN service. Used to be goodBeen using NordVPN for over a year now. First it was great, it halves the latency of the game I play regularly. However recent updates made the iOS version of the app very glitchy. Buyer bewareI tried this product under a deal but didn’t use it after first time. 1 year later get a bill of $308 for everyone of their products that I did not use. Recurring payment scam!While the service worked well while I needed it. After believing I had stoped my membership, and based on that I (erroneously) assumed that it would stop my recurring payments. To my surprise those were not stopped! Immediately after I found out I had been charged I contacted the company as informed them that I had not been using the service and I had canceled my membership a couple weeks ago and requested a refund. Well, I was denied a refund at every level of customer support. Apparently I had missed a step in the cancelation process, and therefore there was no way to give me a refund. I believe they make their cancelation process and their stop recurring payment process purposely complicated so that they can get at least one more payment from their customers. I’m upset and disappointed but not surprised that a company would value profit over customer service. To add, I could have canceled my service and asked for a full refund within the first 30 days (as their terms allow for full refund for any reason within 30days) however I thought that would be unfair to the company as I had actually used their service with little to no issue. Not able to cancel and costs going up and up !!I would not recommend this as once you pay a small amount they take more each month…. Can’t work out how the cancel!!! Thank you for the reply however I standby my comments we signed up for one month and have paid four because my husband couldn’t work out how to cancel it said through Apple subscription of which we had none … we both had the app nothing there on how to cancel (why not??) Driving me nuts…Unreliable at best… When it works, it seems fine, however with something like 50% of the sites I try to connect with on my iPad, I get a message telling me I’m not able to connect to the internet. This is something unique to this app (it didn’t occur with my previous vpn). Turning off the vpn, immediately corrects the problem. If this was protecting me from malicious sites, that’d be fine, however this issue occurs randomly, with sites I regularly visit, with new sites and with sites belong to mainstream providers. It occurs on my home wifi, on mobile data access, and on my work wifi. Fully updated iPad, fully updated software. I’d strongly suggest not paying for long-term access, until you’ve tried it for yourself on your own device..Version: 7.9.1

Why?Why is NordVPN consistently making itself a nuisance when it comes to my connection. Am I supposed to babysit my VPN 24/7 to make sure it’s behaving appropriately while I’m “browsing care-free”? It worked fine when I first signed up now I find myself trying to get the thing to work more often than I’m actually browsing anything. This also comes off nearly a month where opening the app would just make it crash on the loadup screen 80% of the time. Edit: look I get it you’re trying the whole troubleshooting thing, fantastic, I applaud you. Those are all things I’ve googled and tried already. And it becomes inherently obvious since I manually update my apps when the problems begin. The updates need some quality control. It’d be one thing if my phone was obscenely old or something but it’s not. And things were running fine until the slew of bad updates. Even right this minute things are seemingly fine with it, but the issues have been rampant in the last few updates and I’m usually just counting the minutes til I see that I have no connection or one of my apps takes an eternity to load up and I have to go reset it, and get randomly signed out of NordVPN and have to go through all that again as I do on a sometimes weekly, sometimes daily basis..Version: 5.7.2

Buyer BewareAll over the Internet, Nord claims to offer a VPN network to access foreign programming with platforms, such as HBO Max and Netflix. HBO max will not allow you to subscribe without an American credit card and address so unless you have one of those.. the VPN will not work for you, although technically not at the fault of the VPN.. its not as easy as the internet claims to be and I lost nearly $100 trying to stream a single show. Lesson learned the hard way..Version: 8.13.0

IPhone XS persistently restarts with Killswitch activeUnfortunately Killswitch does not seem to be compatible with the iPhone XS iOS 12.1.4 - in the fact when active it forces the the iPhone to restart persistently when your phone is not in use. This is not immediately apparent until you come to use Face ID. Or you’re lucky enough to be looking at your phone when a restart occurs. This problem does not happen when the phone is in use and there are no error logs recorded. This can happen 2-3 times per hour. And I believe this to be an issue with Apples firmware and battery health monitor restarting due to not being able to obtain data signals to your provider. It happens both on 4G and wireless connections. Other than this very annoying and hard to find fault the service and app work great. It’s just unfortunate it took me 3 days to pinpoint the app responsible as this ruined my brand new iPhone experience. When an update is released fixing this issue I will remove my one star review for one that reflects the otherwise great App. For those not wanting to use the Killswitch feature the VPN will work just fine however you may need to manually force connection through the app from time to time. Or more pointlessly manually configure VPN access outside of the NordVPN app.Version: 4.3.3

Do not purchase nordNord will give you the best service / speed & connection for the first month after purchasing a two year deal. Once this legal refund time is over, your quality of service will unexpectedly drop to a point where it is unusable. Customer service will laugh at your face & won't help you with your issues. I am definitely never buying a Nord subscription ever again. Per example, as soon as you swap from LTE to a home network, you won't be able to access internet from nord & need to reset your profil, so you basically need to get unprotected to fix the issue... This is one of many example. Tell yourself if I took time to write such a review, it probably is because something is wrong with Nord..Version: 8.13.0

AVery often prevent my apps on my phone very loading when I try to open it, it makes me wonder what is the point of this app. This app is supposed to protect me whilst using any of my devices, but it seems like this app is a hindrance rather than a protection. I think the app is very clunky when you move to a different location. You have to reconnect again which doesn’t always work. This app is supposed to be one of the best in my opinion I think it’s a waste of money and it makes me wonder if it is protecting me as it should do whilst using my devices I’m waiting for my prescription that I paid for to end and I do not think I will pay for another subscription I would like to add I find Your support service disengaging, when the connection as being disrupted they was no attempt from the support team to reconnect So you find that you have to explain the whole situation again When they offered advice it feels like they are in a hurry to get rid of you and offer advice which involves disconnecting from the support page, I often find the situation still persists I would have to reconnect and then end up communicating with another person and explaining everything again. Consistent at being inconsistentIf there’s one thing this app is good at, it’s being consistently inconsistent. I have to continuously monitor server connection as it drops quite frequently while I am browsing or checking the news. I’m currently overseas so it’d be great if the app would work on its own without the need for a babysitter. A few of my apps cannot work unless it shows me to be stateside, which adds to the frustration of using this VPN. Update: I’ve taken the developer suggestion of switching to TCP and it’s still randomly dropping me. It has also uninstalled its certificate on its own, twice. Another issue I have is the inability to force it to only use servers from a particular country, I’ve tried methods of both auto connection and manually forcing it to my country of choice, only to find it has connected or tried to connect to two other countries at some period of use. At this rate I’m looking forward to getting back home and deleting this app from my devices. Frustrating slow.I paid for a 1 year subscription and use this app on my XS and on my PC. I use the option to let the app to choose the closest server. Nord VPN lags my apps on my phone, which is extremely annoying when using my phone for shopping in town. I often have had to wait for more than a minute for coupon apps to load and specific store apps to load content now. Some apps became so slow they wouldn’t load content at all making them useless. While aware that VPN slows connectivity slightly due to encryption, this is the first one I’ve used that creates such an issues that that I notice a huge difference. On two different occasions I’ve had to reinstall because for some reason Nord disconnected, the app and my phone won’t store my password for the app, which wouldn’t matter anyway because when I enter the password in, the app tried to log on then logs off, as if the password is wrong. I check several times, the pass isn’t wrong. Uninstalling and reinstalling immediately fixes this. For the most part I have no issues on my PC with this program. Had to turn it off to write this review!I’ve been an advocate of NordVPN for over a year. I still have nearly three years of my subscription left to go. However, since the latest update it flat out refuses to connect to a server or the VERY rare time it does it works for a few minutes and then nothing. As soon as you turn off the VPN everything is fine. Tonight I have spent over an hour trying to connect to the internet via NordVPN. No matter what settings, protocols or things I try (I’ve been in contact with support for o er a week) nothing works. The support team are quick and courteous but it’s the same old turn it off and on again. Reset the profile, redownload etc. I’ve done EVERYTHING twice over and I’m here now in complete frustration and deleted the app. I’m sure it works for the many but for me, since the update it no longer works and I’ve had enough. FrustratedI signed up for Nord VPN and since I have had everything is been hard to use and slow. I have taken it off my phone because it was so painful to use, it would block everything and I couldn’t do basic things. I signed up for the whole package and I can’t figure out how to use most of the products so it was a waste of money getting the extras. And forget trying to get a refund they are very much no back luck and they send loads of stupid emails asking me use what I bought but no instructions on how to. What a waste of moneyI paid for a one year subscription because everyone is talking about how good it is. I never paid that much for any VPN. I been using it for a while. It started good but then it gets worst and it gets laggy a lot. It doesn’t even warn the user if the VPN has been disconnected or even send notification. When you first download the app it says to turn on the notifications for alerts but I have never gotten any notification. The customer service is very disappointing. I can’t believe I’m paying this much and the customer service is bad. They have a very bad attitude that’s just the tip of the iceberg. They don’t want to help. Kinda Wishy Washy.I really like Nord, it makes me feel like I'm protected. Sorta. The problem is, it never *stays* connected. I have quick connect on and I've never once intentionally paused my user ship, and i will have a notification both on my Ipad and on my phone that it's in fact on. The problem comes when I open the app after several days. Despite Nord claiming it will run in the background stay connected etc- it will say that I haven't been connected for a full day. it will disconnect, and sometimes even sign me out despite all app permissions I've given. It makes me anxious, I can't ever tell if its on now. Theres a "safety streak" counter in the app, and when I opened it on my phone today, it said I had been disconnected all of monday, but I hadn't opened the app in days. My phone had told me I was connected. I leave it on at all times, and when I opened my ipad, it immediately signed me out and asked me to log in again. Was i disconnected the whole time? I can't tell whats working and whats not. It makes me a bit nervous. I like the idea of a VPN protecting me but. Just doesn’t connectI am currently in China, and I downloaded NordVPN and bought a subscription a few days prior of going there. I’ve done loads of research beforehand to know whether to use it or not - since I used to always use ExpressVPN. However, the price for this VPN seemed to be so much cheaper, so I decided to check it out. It worked perfectly while I was back in another country - until I got to China. At first it was working, but for some reason, my phone wasn’t connecting to any wifi’s or hotspots whatsoever, so the only way I could use it was if I was using my data, and since I was overseas, it was very expensive. I also had this downloaded on my laptop, which it connected ONCE. Afterwards it just wouldn’t connect. Now that I’m trying it a few days later, I’m using my data and I can’t even connect at all. It claims to be connected, yet it doesn’t show that I’m connected on the toolbar thing on top and I am unable to access any blocked apps. Predatory ‘Free Trial’When I subscribe to free trials I immediately turn auto-renew off so I don’t later forget and get charged. This app is the first I’ve ever used that revoked the free trial when I turned off the subscription renewal, and also didn’t provide any options to restore purchases or refresh your subscription in the app itself. I emailed them asking for a refund but they had a “30day policy and assumed the customer knows their features enough to cancel or not.” Hence I was denied a refund. Do NOT BUY IT!I bought Nord for my Mac Pro. It worked fine the first day. For whatever reason the second day I got to spend four hours on chat with their tech specialist downloading other files so that I could actually work on the Mac. It worked for about two days and then certain website start dropping off you couldn't get them. Then the second week it started cycling on and off we couldn't connect to any servers. The real problem is you have to have a VPN to contact their service tech so I have an app and a continual loop of emails. He finally gave me a way to talk to the technician the technician is all of about 10. How the technician will do for you is have you flip switches on and off uninstall and reinstall the program I've now been on with them for another hour and a half. Still nothing works and I don't want to refund my money because I've been working with them for almost 3 weeks now, which means that I've gone over the 30 day moneyback portion of their agreement. I've told them that they can keep their one-month that worked I'm willing to pay for that and they could refund the remainder. BewareNord purports to be a great VPN provider which it is but isn’t a good company. I bought year subscription last year for one year. They automatically too money from my account without authorisation or notification for the next year. I contacted customer support within minutes of being billed for the subsequent year requesting a termination of service and a refund. I haven’t had reason to use the VPN and with COVID hardship have had to cut back on extra costs. Customer service on live chat told me too bad you paid, now the money is ours. Not too sure….I paid & subscribed to NordVPN Premium Plan for 2 years on July 29, 2022 and it went down hill from there. I sent 3 emails trying to get help &/or get someone, a real person, to contact me to help me with setup & explain the lack of an active subscription. I never got a response on those 3 emails until after August 8th. That neither endeared them nor strengthened my trust in this company’s Customer Service. I tried each day to set up the VPN, but each time got a response on one page that I did not have an “active subscription.” However on my profile page it said that my subscription would expire on July 29, 2024! Ok -butHaving seen NordVPN been promoted by a few China based Youtubers I decided that I’d give Nord a go on my next trip. I signed up via the website, going for month long subscription was the option that suited me. I tested things out before I left and everything seemed fine and I was able to connect to different servers all over the world. However when I arrived in China I had a couple of issues: 1 was unable to get a Wi-fi connection at all. Couldn’t understand it until I tried my old phone without an NordVPN setup and I could get on, albeit behind the great fire wall. Found by turning off the connect on demand option in the iPhones VPN settings, under the NordVPN section I was able connect to WiFi. 2 couldn’t get any servers to work, kept on timing out. Sent an email to the support team and they replied very quickly with a work around to create a manual vpn connection. Which worked but it is not as convenient as using the app to pick and choose the server based on speed/country. So now I’m not using the app and have a number of servers manually setup I can use the service that I’ve paid for, it’s just not via the app. For time I’ve paid for a vpn, seems to be ok, I’m not streaming but do have access to all connect that I want to connect to from China. Would have been 4 star review if I was able to use the app. I’ll see how the rest of my trip goes and decide if I use Nord again on future trips.Version: 4.4.1

APP TRIAL IS A SCAMI trialed this app for a day and decided to cancel. You are instructed to login to NordVPN to cancel subscription. App Store doesn’t let you cancel the subscription when it hasn’t been activated (during trial). NordVPN login page takes to an insecure site on every browser so I was unable to login. This was in May, and we are now in November same issue. I believe this is a deliberate setup so you cannot cancel. On May 18 I emailed NordVPN support to inform them I want to cancel, and deleted app in App Store. NordVPN didn’t not reply. On May 31st App Store charged me NordVPN annual subscription fee and I did not receive any notification of this fee. I didn’t realize until November and raised a refund request to App Store to be informed by their robot this doesn’t qualify for a refund (presumably because eit was requested outside of 30 days). I contacted NordVPN support and provided to request a refund but got the runaround. They state I have to go to App Store for refund and insisted they replied to my email on May 18th (they did not). I left thinking that this was a scripted response to a scam setup designed to fleece trialists out of $91. They must be aware that the App Store policy is flawed and run by robots and they can get away with this fraud and App Store won’t penalize them. If you happen to trial this service make sure you request apple refund within 30 days of the fee being sneakily added to your account or you will be left in the same boat.Version: 6.0.0

People trying to log into my accountsI thought this app was great. Yay, I can watch American Netflix now! However, that excitement was short lived by less then a day. Since buying and installing this app (not cheap at all since it isn’t secure) I’ve had people try to access my banking, my MyGov, Instagram, Facebook and everything else. None of this happened since I bought this app. Completely disappointed and angry, for the price you’re asking I would think it would be secure. Good overall, but awful start up routine.Overall the app and the service are good. They work well together and the service seems pretty good. However, the app has huge flaws. You can select favourite countries for server sites. You’d think that the app would direct to one of those countries as the default at startup. Alas, this is not the case. The app appears to want to exercise it’s own agenda. And you can’t just tap the country you want and go. Instead you get a silly message telling you you’re not protected. Well, d’uh, the app was just launched to initiate the VPN. Surely an icon showing disconnection from the VPN, and which doesn’t interfere with user choices, would suffice. Occasionally then you get a message congratulating you for using the VPN 7 days in a row. This implies a level of tracking that shouldn’t occur and it is a wholly useless marketing message. Finally, even if you select the country you want to connect to, often the app chooses its own default and tries to connect you to that even if the map is pinging the country you selected. Eventually the map re-centres on the default country it has actually chosen, but by then it has already initiated a connection broadcasting your attempt to setup a VPN to the default country. In some cases that could be a huge security risk. The app and service would get 5 stars if the startup routine weren’t so useless, silly, unreliable, and risky. Patchy at best - auto connect doesn’t!The VPN service itself seems fine. But on iOS on my iPhone XR, it just NEVER works. It goes through phases. Auto connect should mean that whenever it’s not connected, it connects, right? But it rarely ever does! Occasionally it will go through a phase where it connects, then it will get in a loop where it keeps trying and failing (breaking the internet, forcing me to turn off autocorrect and back on again) but then it will go through phases (weeks) where it just never connects! Every time I check, it’s unprotected and I have to manually connect, which it has no problem doing. Unstable.I bought NORD VPN for a year and used it for 2/3 months so far. It is okay most of the time but I experience a lot of issues with connectivity very often and last night it just died, the VPN catches servers connections but nothing loads. I tried to contact support and that didn’t load either. As a whole connection gets lost quite often. Under home wifi it’s more stable, when I’m outside the house it is a very bumpy ride and the connection is just very unstable to un existent. Often have to spend around an hour trying to reconnect when I get back in as everything is just a mess after being outside. It’s like the servers get all knocked off and unstable. Last night wasn’t able to make it work at all, it connects to a server but no websites/apps load. Left it overnight and until morning still nothing changed. Wish it would stay connectedI've just started using the service and I like it very much. Except for one thing. The service seems to disconnect (with and without the kill switch) from its servers until I start using an app that requires internet connectivity. Such as, if I'm already connected to the VPN, then I browse online for a bit, then I lock my phone (and leave it for a few minutes) when I come back the VPN has already disconnected and I have to try to start using the internet again for it to reconnect. This is starting to become frustrating. Instead of loosing connection it would be nice if it stays connected all the time. And if it did get disconnected for some reason, then it should auto reconnect. Sometimes (this is mainly when the kill switch is disabled) if the above situation (what I described in the above paragraph) happens, once I've lost connection to the VPN, it won't reconnect at all. The issue took too long to resolve, agents are not very knowledgeable in requesting information at first time for all the required details to resolve on time. Drops and Slowly Plods AlongI’m beginning to believe that NordVPN sets up first time users on a great speedy and stable server while in the introductory trial period and the moment the free user flips to being a paid customer...Alacazam! The carpet quickly gets yanked out from under us and we’re dumped into Slow Server and Dropping Disconnect Land. I mean... when I was using a trial membership, I remember connecting to a server that was located right here in my own home city of San Antonio. Not long after I remember purchasing into your agreement I noticed that San Antonio server was no longer available and for some reason I now always get put into Denver’s or Miami’s servers which are not fast, not stable and not convenient. I’ve got to go read the contract to see if I can cancel my membership long before the two-year subscription has been resolved. Also, whoever is the person that comments on every rating and/or issue...Please! Get a new script! You say the exact same thing to everyone’s problems. Once in a while when you suggest someone switch between protocols (tcp, etc.) I really really don’t feel confident that you know what it is you’re suggesting or why. No support person for an important system like a VPN should EVER say “it SEEMS to help some of our customers”...! Pretty frustrating.The app is “Okay”… I can only take their word for it that I’m protected when they say I am. My biggest issue is that the connection is extremely poor or is frequently dropped or something, which results in the app cutting connections for security reason as I’m sure it’s designed that way. They’d rather you have no internet than not being able to protect you. As a result, more often than not (maybe 7-8 out of 10 times) I have to either switch my wifi or data on and off or pause the vpn connection and immediately reactivate it to be able to use data on my phone. Buyer beware - nord is a scamRead the terms and conditions before purchasing a subscription. It says that their service is only guaranteed to work for 1 month. After that, if it stops working you won’t get your money back. My Nord stopped working after 2 months of use, and after going through troubleshooting with their service reps, they said “sorry, we can’t get it to work and we can’t refund you.” Even though i lost a lot of money and have to purchase a new VPN, the silver lining is that you can learn from my mistake. Started out good but.....Took the 2 year sub and it seemed okay at first. In the last 3 or 4 months, this app has become a total nuisance especially on my iPad. This is situation became more apparent after the last update. My connection flickers between Wi-Fi and 4G constantly, I can’t get to use certain apps anymore for whatever reason, it blocks my email app which displays errors and doesn’t download emails and then the option to select your preferred server was taken away (used to be able to see available servers in your chosen country and their traffic levels so you choose which you want). Can’t for the life of me understanding the thinking there. The WORST thing is the inability to turn it OFF. Each time I disconnect the VPN stil remains switched on in my Settings, when I turn that off then I get only 4G connection. Within a few seconds the vpn is back on. This felt like total hijack job. Overall degrading operabilityI’ve been using NordVPN for over 5 years on my phone and several PC’s. While the NordVPN PC software has been more or less flawless (a few hiccups here and there), the iOS app has been nose diving for months now. The biggest problem I’m battling with is reliable, consistent connectivity. I’ll be using my phone and if/when I remember to check the VPN it won’t be connected (even with auto connect enabled), or I’ll be logged out and need to go through the whole setup process again. Other times it will simply be stuck in a “trying to connect” state (this completely cuts off my connection and is instantly noticeable). This either happens all on its own, or the cycle happens when I attempt to switch servers. Often times I need to close the app and reboot the phone. Sometimes I need to uninstall and reinstall the app to bring everything back to normal. Frustrating to say the least. And before anyone thinks it’s my phone, I have two phones and it happens on both (rarely in tandem). I’ve been a loyal fan of NordVPN and have convinced others through the years to use their service. My loyalty is fading, at least with the mobile app. Again, the PC software has been fine, it’s the mobile side of things that are getting worse, not better. Please focus on quality control, Nord. AutoConnect fails too oftenOn multiple occasions I find that I am not connected to a VPN server, even though my settings are set to “Always Connect.” The app notes state that the Kill Switch should sever my connections to servers, yet when I look at any IP checking website, I see my true IP showing. This isn’t the reliability I’d hoped for. UPDATE: the app seems to be getting less reliable. On each of my devices, at least once per week, I am either logged out or just not connected, and the Kill Switch does not prevent a webpage from opening. I have chatted with NordVPN support multiple times, and they always have a “solution” and tell me to contact them if the situation recurs. And it always does — even after uninstalling and re-installing the app multiple times. ANOTHER UPDATE: the Help Desk has me switching VPN protocols again. It doesn’t seem to help. ANOTHER UPDATE: several days have passed. After multiple emails back and forth, and following their advice to uninstall, reinstall, change protocols, change servers, etc., the problems remain. The app is just not working right. The Kill Switch is not preventing me from connecting to the internet with my true IP address showing. And Auto-Connect is doing nothing. ZERO STARS - Terrible, crashes my laptopNordVPN was rec’d to me and I am so sorry I tried it out. It took out my Internet connection on a new Mac laptop, making me think that I had been hacked, and it took multiple calls with Verizon and Apple to figure out that NordVPN was the culprit. I emailed them 2x today and no response at all. Their Live Chat button on their website does not work when you click it. Now it’s acting up again at night- same issues: not connecting to VPN servers no matter what country I try, repeatedly putting up pop up windows asking me to give Nord Lynx VPN for my login keychain password so that 3 windows in a row were up at one time, and none could be closed out when I hit any of the options - Allow, Deny, or Always Allow. I took a screen shot to email to them in a 3rd support email but then it completely knocked out my Internet connection again so I couldn’t even share that. When I rebooted, it immediately went to asking me for my keychain password again. I disabled “startup at login” and had to manually uninstall this horrid software. I’m not sure how a co can release a product like this and call it security. I’m calling AMEX to have this charge reversed and am switching to any other VPN service. Completely uselessMy friend recommended NordVPN, so I bought 27 months without free trial and now it’s not working at all!! I tried to connect my VPN to US multiple cities to make it work but it did not work. I mainly want to use this VPN so 1) I can see news as Canadians can’t see news anymore on social media. 2) I want IG to promote my content further than just around my city. However, even I switched on VPN (it said connected) , turned off precise location on IG and Facebook, but IG and Facebook can still detect my exact location just like the VPN’s IPs are completely non existent. Absolute rip offFirstly I looked at what options I could subscribe to from this app and 1 month was available. I thought this was the safest way to try the app without locking in a lengthy subscription. After downloading and trying to subscribe the only pop up option was 1 year. After lots of searching on the web I found that the only way to get 1 month was to log onto the portal not through the app I just downloaded. CRAZY! Even once on their website trying to buy one month was only offered as a “SUBSCRIPTION”. Then trying to unsubscribe as there is no option for 1 month only, took a long time and I’m reasonably IT savvy. Anyone that is a novice has no chance. I downloaded Nord as there seems to a belief that it is the best VPN to watch Foxtel outside Australia. It did not work!! Tear-your-hair-out frustratingI’m beginning to wonder what this service is designed to do. If you want a VPN that you can quickly switch on and off for a few minutes at a time, this could be perfect for you. However, if you’re looking for 24/7 protection, look somewhere else. This app routinely has to be micromanaged, servers stop working after a few hours (cutting your internet connection completely) and have to be manually disconnected and reconnected. Sometimes several times in a row before they get going again. Every few days when the server cuts out and you try to reconnect, the app will log you out, forcing you to re-enter your details and reconfigure your phone’s settings to allow it to work again. A time consuming and incredibly frustrating process. This service is essentially a third world ISP simulator. It slows your connection down to a snails pace and drops out as a matter of course. Why Are People Getting My Personal Phone Number?I thought that this app was really fabulous and I stay connected though it to different countries every week and I thought that nobody could get at me as long as I used your VPN to keep my information safe. BUT, as of yesterday when I was connected to the UK, someone sent me a text from there to my private mobile phone number. It said I’d won 4,000,000 pounds supposedly from Coca-Cola and although sent from the UK it rerouted through an Australian number (Where I live). I changed the VPN location right away to Romania. Then today, I get 3 calls from Romania (Which thankfully I missed), again rerouting through Australia and supposedly coming from here, but when Googled it came up as Money Gram Romania and apparently other people have also been spammed from there. I don’t use my iPhone on the internet so the only place my personal phone number could have come from was on my iPad, which has been using your VPN for months now. I change the location often around the world. The only place my number is on my iPad is in the Settings under the Apple Store. My personal email address that I use only for business is now being flooded with spam and again that was in my Settings. Your VPN is supposed to keep my information safe, right? It’s not. I’ve now had to get internet on my iPhone and hope that can block my Settings through the VPN, but I think it’s way too late and my information has been sold..Version: 4.2.2

2 year subscription was cheap!VPN works really well on computer and I recommend it especially for the price. I can never get it to work properly on iPhone. I always have to turn it off to use some sites to connect to other devices on my network, it’s annoying. I do not recommend using Nord on iPhone as you spend most of the time turning it off as your phone will refuse to work with most online services. Also a lot of the time my Internet connection on my iPhone is slow painfully slow sometimes websites take about two minutes to load again I have to turn off the VPN and then everything works. I would recommend this for computer as I do download a lot of torrents and it works really well with this. Updated. I have followed the developers advice and I still have to turn it off constantly which is so annoying. For windows it is amazing, but IOS it just refuses to work 95% of the time. When it works, it’s a great serviceI’ve been using NordVPN for almost a week. The VPN provides great, fast internet connection that has almost no impact on latency or speed of any kind, from web-browsing to streaming to even playing video games. I love that one account allows me to use it for 6 devices, so I have one for my iPhone, one for my laptop and one for my PC. Again, no latency issues or speed impacts when I play Modern Warfare or some of my mobile games. So why 3*? That’s where I become annoyed with the inconsistency of the VPN connection. So it works great when it works, but for whatever reason when the connection to their servers suddenly stop, the whole crashes. From time to time on MW, I can see it rubbernecked and I’ll start teleporting several feet from my position. On my iPhone suddenly I get drops in connection, and my whole WiFi stops working. I have to turn off then turn on my WiFi on the phone to get it working again. I also noticed that if you stop using your iPhone and leave it on idle, when you wake it up/use it again, the VPN shuts off and has to turn back on again. Keeps disconnectingI liked the fact that I could just activate and have VPN running in the background, which seemed to be the case in the beginning… however when it come down to having this for a little while…. I have found the app has automatically stopped running on its own without warning ⚠️. There is no longer any guarantee that the vpn is up and running as I had left it and it doesn’t even take me to disconnect it or for the internet to drop for it to stop running! Not only is that an issue but I have found more and more websites on google refuse to open up now. They are just regular websites that I could get any other time before but now all of a sudden I am getting blocked from more and more.. this is usually because of vpn but when it happened one time I went to check my vpn connection it turned out it had disconnected itself without warning and I can’t even be sure how long that had been the case! They accept crypto and PayPal (once again) so you don’t have to give them your credit card info. The bad: 1) The nearly unforgivable, and this may cause me to choose another provider if it continues — on iOS, silently disconnecting from the VPN and staying on network even with connection type Automatic active. Should never happen. If you get disconnected from the VPN with Automatic on, it should block all network traffic until it can reconnect — or until you turn Automatic off or disable the VPN. Ripped off 3 year hidden AUTO PaymentI wrote to them saying I did not want to continue with there app due to connectivity issue and being logged out every few days and they still took a three year auto payment I wrote to them and asked to cancel. They only said contact Apple. Make sure you switch off there hidden auto payment even if you only half way along in your contract. Ripped off fist time and the second by there hidden auto payment. This app is not worth it and I strongly suggest to trial other apps before making a purchase and if you get this app disable there hidden auto payment. Disconnects like no tomorrowBeen using it during my trip while accessing public wifi. Has been an absolute nightmare with its frequent disconnects every few minutes. It may stay connected, for hours even to its credit. Sometimes, however, it would prevent me from accessing wifi altogether when public wifi requires you to be in the region. That’s fine, just allow me to stop the VPN with a simple click please? Or a pause that actually pauses and doesn’t infinitely try to kick in again? The current state means a lengthy process of going to settings to stop it from turning on when accessing wifi, and then turning it back on again after when there’s a more static wifi. Bring back server lists !!Why, why, why are you removing the list of specific servers in each country in the latest app update? This is the best feature I need when travelling. I need to connect to specific servers otherwise your app is useless to me. Your ‘fastest’ server recommendations are not good and I do not want to be connected by your algorithm automatically. I have a 3 year subscription ending in October 2020 but unless I can choose specific servers myself ( I do not know the specific server numbers - I choose them from the list in a trial and error manner to decide what works for me ) I will be forced to look for another VPN service. Doesn’t work in ChinaJust to be clear, I don’t think that this is Nord’s fault but I can’t use the service and I’ve had to buy another VPN to write this review. I’m based in China and purchased this in December. To get this vpn to work in China you have to go through a long (slightly) complex process of updating the VPN every month or so as the Great Firewall find the servers and shut them down. At the end of May Nord got shut down and since then I’ve not been able to get the service to work. As the support websites and everything to do with Nord are blocked in China the only way I can communicate is sending messages to friends and family to contact them on my behalf. A notice has been up for almost two months now that just says. ‘Doesn’t work in China. We’re working on it.’ Most of my family I usually contact on WhatsApp (blocked) so I need a reliable service. Nord isn’t cheap and I’ve now had to spend more money on an expensive vpn to get back in the loop. I don’t know how Nord works in other countries (I’m sure it’s fine) but don’t buy this service for China at the moment (June 2022) until Nord can guarantee a secure and reliable service. Loses connection constantly and stops internet workingThis was working great up until a few months ago and I planned on staying with them but recently it’s terrible. At least once an hour, If connected to the VPN it loses internet connection all together then you have to turn the VPN off to get connected again which you are then not protected. Having gone through all of their troubleshooting and connecting manually to their VPN it still happens, luckily my time with them is nearly up so I signed up with another VPN provider. This is something that Nord have done at their end as it was working fine until this started happening, there is even a selection choice on their troubleshooting page for this so they know all about it and know it is at their end but still cannot find a permanent fix. It never really workedI had nord vpn for a year and it was always annoying to run as no website, app, connection or my watch would work properly with the vpn on. It was supposed to be on auto connect and cut the connection when it dropped, well that never happened and it also dropped about 25 times a day causing me to go into the app, try to select anything that was always frozen and would not work so I had to go into settings turn off auto connect then turn on auto connect then actually hit the button to connect because it will not on its own. I had to do this anytime I wanted to do anything with my phone or watch, the problem would go away with a complete erase and reinstall of their vpn profile but again who wants to do all of this every few days? My final reason for canceling: I woke up and couldn’t log in and the app said my password changed? I have never changed my password, well when I tried over 24 hours to get tech support and they would not help because they said I should have gotten 1 of the 30 password recovery email and I just did not see it in my folder? Really? Its not in any folder; inbox, sent, junk, trash or deleted and when I reply to them with this issue I get a generic response to do the same thing over and over and to be sure I have not been hacked because this is so weird and I seem to get no help from tech support, I canceled my subscription and deleted the app..Version: 7.20.0

Causing more issues than helpI purchased this vpn for my parents who live on a different continent in a restricted country. I just wanted them to be safe and online, so I went for a more expensive VPN (since Nord had such good reviews!) However, my parents encountered issues when downloading the app which I had to stay online with them and resolve. Then it just stopped connecting and I had to contact support so they give me new server numbers. Then, after a couple of weeks, it’s not working again! And I have to contact support again and ask for new servers, and then pass it on to my elderly parents and explain how it works! honestly we just tried downloading free vpns and they work so much faster and cause no issues compared to NordVPN! None parity features amount various platforms.MacOS/iOS version of NordVPN does not have feature parity like split tunnelling when compared to androidOS. Other issues include the kill switch does not always work in macOS which defeats the purpose. Login credentials disappear form all platforms and this is random as after some updates it repopulated and after other updates or does not. It won’t inform you either that you have to re-login. When waking from sleep under macOS it will show that it’s connected but it’s not as webpages provide a “not connected” error, this means the kill switch might be working but the connection shows it’s active. Sometimes for some reason after a while even though it shows it’s connected the error will crop up again same thing happens in androidOS. I have asked for a refund after waiting patiently for features to be added that was promised and bugs to be resolved but it’s the same issue after 2+ years of being hopeful. I am waiting on NordVPN customer service to get back to me, if not I recommend to stay away from this company..Version: 6.6.0

Not for ChinaNord is regarded as a bit of a joke by expats in China. Whilst the app might work fine outside of China it does not work here and you have to set up a manual VPN. PS, side note, the Windows app doesn’t work at all and the manual work around involves lots of frustration trying to connect every time and drops off straight away. So if you’re thinking of getting the iphone app and subscribing so you can connect multiple devices including a PC, think again. Update, since the latest update, having the Nord app on my PC kills any connectivity. AVOID EDIT June 2020 They rolled out a new version to much fanfare on their part... still doesn’t work in China. VPN is alright, app is garbageI’ve had Nord for a while and have been in contact with support about issues and they never resolve it. The app is so poorly made. It is unreliable in many ways. Once you’re connected, if it stays connected, then it is usually fine. I’ve left reviews before and always been asked to contact support. That never helps so I won’t be doing so again and will be using an alternative once my subscription is up. The company has responded to the above review asking for the ticket id from when I contacted support. There were at least a few times I contacted them but I do not have the ids anymore. Honestly, any potential customers of Nord vpn will likely not see this as there are many reviews of the app but if you do just make sure you do your research. I was going back and forth between Nord and a few others but got a really good deal on Nord (I know they are always having “sales” but this was better than I’d seen and it drew me in). I regret the decision. However, I am one user and while there are plenty of other very low reviews for Nord, there are also good reviews. Great concept and service, app hasn’t been working that well latelyThe concept is great: easy to use, on-demand VPN with several countries, servers, and modes. In general, the service offered by NordVPN is good. However, the app executes this poorly sometimes. Many times I find that the app has decided to log me out of my account for no reason, which is not a big problem, but it’s annoying. Other times, the app gets stuck in trying to find a server even when I press cancel, forcing me to either shut down my phone or deleting and reinstalling the app. Honestly, I feel the app didn’t use to have these errors when I first started using it a few years ago, and I would love for it to go back to working as well as it used to..Version: 7.19.0

Really inconvenient to use and interfere with computer functionI bought this vpn service a while ago but didn’t star use it till a month later and figured out it wouldn’t work for Asia countries: the internet was super slow to an unusable extent I asked for a refund they give me a firm no telling me that it passed 30 days. They walked me through a whole long complicated process to fix the connecting problem with Asia websites and then the next month when I try to use me computer to connect to my university library it just wouldn’t work and the reason is all the weird settings they have me done with my computer to get NordVPN to work. I just cannot tolerate the hassle anymore and they won’t give you refund anyway. The plan is for 3 years so basically you paid for 3 yrs for 0 services. Beware before you pay it doesn’t work well it may disrupt with normal functioning of your computer. The support team replied, but be ware they never solve your problem, neither will they provide you a solution. It’s always take longer to “babysit” the vpn than really using it. As mentioned in lots lots of reviews I saw, mostly of the time you paid for 3 yrs of zero service. No one has the time to trouble shoot for 1 he every time they want to use VPN. Be careful with this scamA month ago i got nordvpn and it actually was working well until one day, for some reason the two mfa security option was activated on my account without my permission, i didnt do it since i only have google authenticator and there was no nordvpn account in there so i thought the account was hacked, to my surprise when i contact support they tell me they can’t reset my account if i dont give them an apple pay number that doesnt exists anymore (I removed my cards from apple pay) and even if it did i wouldnt feel confortable giving away, basically i lost access to the vpn and they charged me a full year for a product i only used for a month, asked for refund and got no luck with that, and now im asking just to have that account cancelled and had no luck either, looks to me more like a scam than a legit company since i’ve just been getting this obtuse responses for a week now. I’m texting them from my personal email linked to the same account but they still say they cant confirm its me… got a point where i dont know if i should cancel the credit card i used to pay now and just forget about it but all the trouble they are giving me its just ridiculous..Version: 7.1.0

Garbage VPN and service!Absolutely garbage ! So I just wanted try this VPN out for gaming if it lowers any ping . Since I connected with VPN my internet got so slow and Ping went up 2x amount. I was like okay and tried to turn off auto subscription on website. I literally searched for cancel button for 1 hour , I couldn’t find it. I was alright with the money I spent for first months and thought it wouldn’t charge again or at least it would remind to about upcoming payments . No I received 0 emails about that I’m being charged for 3 months . It’s like a scum. I just found out that My credit card was charged by VPN and it’s been charging me for 3 months. I tried to talk someone for refund via help chat and the guy told me that he can’t refund the payment that happened literally 5 mins ago and it’s still pending. It’s just so stupid! Very poor service for iPhone 13 & newer as app doesn’t work!!I have been waiting months for an update that resolves this problem but it hasn’t happened. On the iPhone 13 you will need to install another app which is open source & configure it yourself by downloading additional patch files. It does work but it’s very slow & frequently disconnects without notifying you forcing you to continually monitor its status & I’m not joking!! All the cool features of the NordVPN app you can forget about because it has no input or function at all! Changes can be made only through the very basic “OpenVPN-connect“ app which allows any change you like at your own risk on the advanced page. Does not work in China/weak supportTicket ID #14048595 I would give no stars if i could. I was gearing up for my trip to mainland china and decided to try Nord to use so i could access the internet unrestricted. My trip was planned for about 40 days. When I arrived i was disappointed that it did not work in China and was unable to access their support team because it was blocked. I also missed their 30 day guarantee since my trip was long than 30 days and when you sign up you’re account is on auto renew monthly(shocker!). When i was able to contact support after doing a day trip in Hong Kong (day 31) regarding the matter they dismissed my issue and said there wasn’t anything they could do. I tried to reason fairly with them understanding their policy was 30 days for refund which is fine i can accept. But i was trying to resolve and refund the extra month charged since the service was of no use to me and it was only a day after the auto renewal i was able to access the account and contact support. Not much of a “support “ team as they just brushed off my issue and just assured me I wouldn’t be charged any more since i turned off the auto renewal. Hope the extra $20 was worth it Nord! Good but could be betterThis works ok but drops out a number of times per day. If left to try and reconnect by itself it can take up to 5 mins. When you realise the internet has stopped its faster to open the app, disconnect and then reconnect. The cheeky app tries to fool you as it shows the status as connected when this happens, however if you click the top to see what your IP is it says ‘allocating IP’ so that’s how you know your not connected to the internet. I don’t like that sneaky side. App is easy to use..Version: 8.2.0

Good Service, Ok-ish AppI bought a 2yr deal significantly discounted, but I might be more displeased had I spent more. Generally, Nord’s actual VPN service works well. For me, it is usually quick to connect and doesn’t drop out. However, the iOS app can be temperamental. It signs me out every couple of days and routinely prompts me to re-install VPN profiles - something I have not had to do with previous VPNs I’ve used. This is easily the worst part of my experience. When it has been slower to make a connection, the “Quick Connect” button does not indicate it is attempting to connect (or indicate you even tapped it), which can be very confusing if you tap it again (which is likely, thinking the touch was not registered), as it may complete the connection and then immediately disconnect. The button does not change colour or size when tapped, it only shrinks when held down for a long duration (relative to a tap) which makes for very bad UX. The app also seems to be somewhat spurious in whether it boots with a connection already established or not. However, I would say 80% of the time it works as I expect, and in those cases, it works well. But considering the issues in the remaining 20%, and that it costs a very non-trivial amount of money, I would not give it 5 stars..Version: 7.11.0

Perhaps I am not doing it right.There is a lot I like about Nord VPN. However, there are several annoying features. It is good that the user has such a huge choice of servers (world wide) but the main irritation for me is that the connection is forever being lost. What I find perplexing is that I use the VPN on several devices, - 2 iphones (5 and 6) two ipads (3&6) an old Macbook Pro and a Windows Laptop. From time to time, the iphones and the latest ipad seem to remain on the chosen server for long periods, whereas occasionally the connection lasts an hour or two. With the Macbook, the VPN disconnects whenever the Macbook is shut down, and AUTOMATICALLY reconnects on start up, - brilliant! Also, I have noticed that I cannot surf the net when VPN is connected. I have to leave the VPN server, surf, then switch the VPN back on, which is unsatisfactory. This is not ALWAYS true, so even more frustrating. I recently took a contract to receive BT SPORT via the app, which I can cast to my TV. Very often, though, I get a message that I cannot receive BT SPORT as I am outside the EU, and I assume this is because BT cannot determine my location when I am on VPN. Of course, this problem may be a problem for BT not Nord..Version: 4.1.9

Auto-connect does not workI don’t know if other VPN providers would be better, but NordVPN’s “auto-connect” feature barely works for me. I leave the app running (ie open) on my iPhone full time 24/7, but when I remember to check it during the day I’d say 4/5 times the app basically reloads itself and shows a red message that says “you are not protected”. It’s unclear whether my phone has been unprotected for some time without me knowing and the VPN “auto” connects when I prompt it to by looking at the app, or if it’s a momentary thing. Either way, it shouldn’t be happening when I’ve paid for an annual subscription upfront only to find the VPN only works for short periods. It might be my wifi skipping that is causing the VPN connection to go from green and connected to red and unprotected, but the auto-connect feature is meant to cope with those moments silently and unprompted by me, the user. Hopefully this issue will be resolved in the next app release. For now, I am very dissatisfied and wouldn’t recommend..Version: 8.13.0

Keeps Disconnecting on Wi-Fi on IOSI have already contacted them about this issue and they told me that it is common for the Apple devices to disconnect automatically on Wi-Fi. . It is just the way they are designed which is untrue. Regardless of the settings within the app. and constant bug improvements, it still keeps disconnecting. Ad Blocking no longer worksEdited review: Ad blocking using Threat Protection Lite no longer works. Broke about 2 or 3 app releases ago now. Ad blocking was one of the main reasons I renewed my subscription with Nord VPN. Attempted re-installing the application to no avail. Service is more stable so upped my review, but service is not worth 5 stars yet. || Original Review || One of the most unreliable VPN services I’ve come across. It constantly (several times per day) enters into a stuck “connecting…” status and snags up or drops my network connection. I mean constantly. A few app iterations ago it was finally stable and I had no issue with renewing my subscription. Now, I can’t rely on this VPN to remain stable at all. No issues on desktop, but on iOS it just doesn’t like to work. I’ve switched the VPN protocols from Nordlynx -> TCP -> UDP (etc), I’ve re-installed the app twice, and even disabled threat protection - the issue persists regardless. Why Nord’s team can’t release a stable and consistent build is beyond me at this point. Good stable and fast connection but poor UIGreat app but what’s the use if a user can’t see meaningful info quickly and at the right places in the mobile app. The UI is very confusing: - main screen shows “manage” button on connection instead of “disconnect”. If I need to disconnect then I click manage and then go inside and disconnect it. - no way to see which place you connected from main screen. Just shows my country but not the city - for auto connect options , it asks for trusted wifi connection , but that disc one takes the VPN when on that wifi network. GarbageBy far one of the worst apps I have ever downloaded for my iPhone. The app never works and it never connects to a server ever. And when it does I have no idea because the widget says I’m not connected. It spontaneously says I’ll be connected to a vpn when I am actually not or vice versa and this is the SPECIFIC reason why I got this app. I need to be able to see my vpn status at a glance and then quickly disconnect or connect to a vpn server while I’m using different networks without having to dig around in the settings every time I need to hop off and back on a vpn. After days and days and days of hard to understand emails from a support tech at nordvpn that made me do all kinds of tweaks and changes to my settings and had me download a certificate on my phone it still does not work, and after I deleted the certificate they told me to download and I deleted the app from my phone and changed back all my settings my phone doesn’t work right now and barely connects to any kind of network even cellular! Thanks nordvpn! I wasted a two year subscription for this extremely garbage product that I can’t believe nordvpn is actually trying to sell and won’t refund me. Unfortunately I am switching back to Windscribe even tho they are based in Canada their service and apps have just always worked, or maybe I’ll look into expressvpn. Too expensiveI’m only a minor so I do not have the money to pay for this yet I would love a VPN for protection and to watch shows on Netflix available in different countries. I understand that they need the money but lowering the prices will bring them so many more people purchasing their subscriptions that having a lower price could be beneficial to them. Terrible AppI have been using another VPN app for years and never had any issues, I decided to try Nord VPN to see what all the fuss is about, and I regret downloading it and paying a year’s subscription before testing it thoroughly. It takes a long time to connect (if successful), I have tried connecting through different hubs and faced the same issue. What is worse, is when I tried opening one App which is restricted in Spain while connected to a Spanish IP, I was unable to reopen the App again through my regular UK IP nor any other VPN IP. It kept showing me a message in Spanish even though I had disconnected my VPN, I tried disconnecting and connecting several times on my WiFi and 5G network, turned them off and on several times, tried different WiFI connections and even tried my old VPN connection yet the App is still stuck on that Spanish IP from NordVPN. It is worth mentioning that during the time I was struggling to connect to any network on NordVPN, I doubted my internet connection so I tried my old VPN App and got connected instantly! I will remove the App after just a short period of downloading it, and after I have lost my subscription fee (which was advertised to be cheaper than my current VPN service but it is not!)..Version: 8.17.0

Issues with NetflixOverall great app, but they have an ongoing long term issue with their service not connecting to Netflix. I was super frustrated and only found out when I contacted support. Doesn’t workI’m currently in China for a vacation and before going I knew I needed a vpn to access blocked sites. I searched and was told that NordVPN is the best to use in China so I installed it and paid 1 month subscription. I was able to connect for a few days in China but then it started to unable to connect. I deleted the app, reinstalled and signed in again and it worked. So every time it was unable to connect I did what I did earlier but after a few times it didn’t work anymore. I’ve tried everything and the vpn just won’t connect! It doesn’t matter whether I was using my data or connected to wifi it just won’t connect. Not only that when it was connected it really slowed my connection down. So now I have a vpn that wont work. Average at bestThis app has had the same constant problems for 3 years, the reviews are still the same, nord will STILL log you out randomly, STILL WONT connect to anything automatically or even when you manually select it (you have to close the app and re-open it a few times to get it going) and once you’re logged on and connected it will STILL struggle to find an IP address leaving you disconnected STILL. Buy this if you want to be frustrated at certain times of the day or if you enjoy watching one third of a video because it refuses to load the rest due to connection problems. Still more frustrating than it should beWhen it works it is great but I’m finding that more and more it fails to connect first time. This is almost always the case when going from wi-fi to 3/4G The app will spend an age trying to connect to the server before timing out. If you wait for the timeout and then click quick connect it try’s another server and connects instantly! To the dev- if the app can’t connect it should automatically try a different server within a few seconds, I shouldn’t have to wait through the timeout and then initiate quick connect myself. Also, bring back the ability to view and select the specific servers ourselves, this would often speed up reconnecting. Finally- it still logs me out on occasion. Nowhere near as bad as it used to but it does happen..Version: 6.6.0

DisappointedYou’d expect this app to run quietly in the background and provide appropriate protection I.e. without you needing to regularly check if VPN is still on, and/or it hasn’t logged you out inadvertently etc. Quite the opposite, you need to regularly open up the app to see if your still connected and/or still logged in, with no pre-warning e.g. push notification or similar that you may be using apps or browsing unprotected. I expect it wouldn’t be that hard to have a function where as soon as VPN drops out, or you’re inadvertently logged out, you’re notified immediately so you can address issue..Version: 8.15.0
