The Room Three for Negative User Reviews

Good game but disappointedI was a big fan of the first and the second game so I had high expectations when I purchase the third one. It is three times more expensive than Room two but I paid without hesitation because I loved the complexity, graphic and of course the challenging puzzles in the first two games and expects I will get even more of them since the developers charging more this time....I must say it didn't quite match the expectations. The puzzles this time is a lot easier and simple. Straight forward and did not utilize the iPhone functions as they used to in the first two games e.g no tilting the phone or shaking....you spend a lot more time walking back and forth to pick up items, the obvious cheating way to get more game time. Three times more expensive than Room two but content and satisfactory wise Room three is not even close to Room two. I still got good enjoyment out of this game but unless they are releasing free content for buyers, I think this time the game is not as good as the first two and cannot justified why it is so much more expensive..Version: 1.0.1

Really goodWell done in so many ways but there are a few things I would change. As with the others it was visually dark, a little darker than necessary, it made the bright bits hurt your eyes. I was overjoyed to find that the game wasn't over and had alternate endings - new places to explore discoveries to make etc. Disappointed then I was to find that the last two endings had nothing new in them - just redoing the puzzles at the end and making a different choice. Despite ending and a low note the game was excellently produced in every detail. I wish there were more games of this high standard, however lacking competition at this level makes this game outstanding..Version: 1.0.1

Massive disappointmentThe Room was centered around boxes. Each boxes had tons of clever hidden puzzles and secrets. The game was short but very challenging. Then came an inferior sequel that was still a brain teaser. Now, in The Room three, we are presented a series of locations, each featuring only a handful of super easy puzzles that would be more at home in a resident evil game than in this series. I quickly started feeling bored as I just rapidly went from one place to another, solving games a 10 y old could easily solve..Version: 1.0.2

The Room (of disappointment) #3Very disappointed. Rooms 1 & 2 were very good. Room 3 is repetitive, incohesive and just all over the place. There is no rhyme or rhythm to this sequel- instead of being intrigued you are frustrated at retracing your steps over and over in a poorly set up and thought out game. It's too bad- more is not necessarily better....I never leave poor reviews and I rarely trust others poor reviews...but trust me, this game was so poorly put together (especially after 1 and 2) that I couldn't NOT leave a review...save your money-and your time..Version: 1.0.2

Pros & ConsThe third installment in The Room series is, as usual, above and beyond the caliber of most other games. The graphics continue to get better and better, along with an intriguing and mysterious storyline, with great ambience as well. Very reminiscent of the popular 90's game Myst. But I have to admit to being surprisingly disappointed in this edition. It seems the focus has gone solely to the look of the items and surroundings, and the opposite to the actual puzzles themselves. I love the feel of this game as described above, but I feel the puzzles are the #1 aspect of this game. So, as I was very excited to start playing this, I became quickly disappointed when I realized the puzzles almost seemed like an afterthought. It was mostly solving an easy puzzle just to collect an item and then wander around trying to find where the item went. Yes, that still required some thinking, but it was more tedious than fun. I'm sorry to have to criticize this game, I guess it is selfish of me because the potential to be the best game I have ever played clearly exists. The makers of this game probably wanted to appeal to a wider audience, but I feel they will lose true fans of the original The Room. If I could give a suggestion, I would say make 2 versions next time: an easier one and a harder one, and maybe sell them separately so you could still make your fair amount of profit. Thanks.Version: 1.0.1

1 and 2 were betterSome of the puzzles are repeated and the extra endings really don’t make up for having to go back and forth, back and forth. If you’re going make us repeat things and run around so much then at least add a skip button for the animations. It’s no wonder the game takes so long to complete, like you had one puzzle where you had to remove bricks and line up the keyhole, then a whole travel sequence to get to the other side of the lock to put the key in the hole, then the same travel sequence to get back to the hole from the first side two more times to unlock a draw. This was just TOO long for such a simple puzzle. And WHY do we have to do that same last puzzle with reflecting light four times to get the different endings. By the time I got the last ending I was over it, not just the game but the series itself. Won’t be trying any more of these games because I’ve had over 8 hours running around this one, I need a break from these games..Version: 1.0.2

It's different but not anything like the first oneI couldn't wait for this game however the previews worried me and I wasn't wrong. What I love about the first in this series was the puzzle box or table not running from room to room back and forth with piece here or there. The second in this wasn't too bad at least it was one room but this third one just become more like hidden object adventure game at its hardest level. I feel disappointed. I did like the alternative endings and the graphics are amazing however I truly believe that fireproof games needs to look at the first game again because it was this puzzle box that made us want more that made us fall in love with idea..Version: 1.0.1

Disappointed with alternative endings. So I beat the game. You can then revisit to find other ways to win. This is where my 5 star experience turns into a 2 star experience. I accidentally clicked the room that sends you to the outside observatory which is the last room in the game before you beat it. I didn’t want to go here but there’s no way back once you’re here. If I click restart chapter it simply restarts from the animation of me warping into the room I don’t want to be in. If I go to the main menu I can only continue or make a new profile. So basically my only option is to beet the last room again before I can restart the game in the main house where I was before I clicked the door. I find this so so annoying. So annoying in fact that I’m refusing to go through that again just to get back to where I want to be. It’s bad foresight on the development end and because of that I’m leaving a 2 star review and refusing to finish the other 4 puzzles until this is fixed. If you’re going to let someone free roam to discover alternative endings after they beet the game you should let them return to different areas that locked you inside in the original game if they click the wrong thing. The puzzles are great but this new alternative ending thing you guys are trying wasn’t very well thought out IMO. If I click restart chapter on an alternative ending campaign it should take me to the very beginning, end of story..Version: 1.0.2

The wait was not worth itI loved The Room and The Room 2 but 3 is a clear miss. Some of the processes are a rehash so you can anticipate how to accomplish the goal. Otherwise they put in excessive layers and the gameplay is not as responsive to touch on an iPad as the previous versions. The continuity is missing. If you leave the game and come back it is not helpful in resetting the process. The first version was free or 99 cents, the next was ~$2 if I am correct and the latest version is $5. I know they put a lot of effort and $5 is not a big deal but it just seems the price and gameplay experience is getting inverted. I really stuck with the prior versions and mastered them all without hints or cheats. This one just has too many hints, poor gameplay interaction and just fails expectations. I will likely finish the game but the joy factor is way low and the frustration level is higher. They just missed the mark in getting the game out on time as originally expected and just somehow reduced the value of the franchise with this edition. If they go for version#4 they should forgo r hype and get back to the basics of what 1&2 accomplished.Version: 1.0.1

Played all 31st was the best in my opinion. This one is still good. What I personally didn’t like about part 3. There seems to be a lot more limits on your ability to inspect a puzzle boxes full structure, this gets into the larger problem. If you are seeking that challenge the first title offered here you will be very disappointed. The puzzles seem very dumbed down. It is also quite easy to actually solve a puzzle in less then a few quick moves this happened to me on handful of the puzzles. If you thought the first title in this series was to tough for some reason then this will be a refreshing breath of fresh air for you. There are quite a few times in this one that you will see the same puzzle repeating itself making it feel more like a retrieve an fetch game going across rooms. I really hope this does not become the standard for any future titles, i am willing to try another one if one is released, however if the lack of full inspection and the dumbed down approach continues I probably wont further support any other titles..Version: 1.0.1
