✓ Okay if you are not doing a recording or videoI thought the lite version, after reading reviews, would allow me to sample doing a basic video while using the prompter. No. Would be okay as something to do a speech from, if the audience don’t mind you looking at the screen the whole time! ✓ "Voicetrack initialize" does not work on ipad pro 2018 and latestest IOS versionTried loading a 2500 word script and after 15 mins, it never would voicetrack initialize. Deleted script and loaded new script that was cut down to 1/4 size and still would not initialize. Tried deleting app and reinstall then typing in a parapgraph, same problem, would not voicetrack initialize. Tried loading one more script that i would type in manually again but the lite version seems to have reached its limit? It simply prompted the Buy Pro popup screen. Would be nice to actually give the customer an opportunity to test the lite version..Version: 2.0.4

✓ Background should be darkThe new version has a big design flaw. in the Standard Video Recording from the front preview will remain behind the text as you read. so if you are recording it is very hard to see the text as you see yourself and whatever the front camera records . i wish there was a way to make the background dark as in the past version as it is very hard to read the scrolling text now (2) in Selfie Mode from the front-facing camera you loose half the screen to the selfie ..Version: 2.0.3

✓ Used to be great… not any more.I have used this app over three past 3 years. It was just a basic teleprompt with no voice recognition. However last night it automatically updated on my iPad and now I am unable to use it at all until I upgrade to the pro version and pay 29.99. The worst thing was I had downloaded a script onto it ready to give a talk this morning. I turned up to give the talk to find I was locked out of the app and my script had been whiped. Fortunately I had a paper version to fall back on. I don’t want a cleaver version with voice recognition because they are no 100% reliable. I would rather just hit pause if I was to ad-lib for a bit..Version: 3.0

✓ Can’t get voice to workI keep hearing how great this software is, so I downloaded the lite version to see if I wanted to pony up the $20 for the Pro version, but I can’t get the voice control to start for anything. I really wanted to like this over other non-voice activated ones that are pretty nice and easy to use, but it’s just not cutting it. I really wish they would give a fully functioning demo period to use the pro version to see if it works, but if this is the demo, it’s not cutting it..Version: 2.0.5
✓ Doesn’t keep upThe concept of an automatic teleprompter which responds to the spoken word is a great idea. I am in the market for that sort of thing and was keen to try the demo version, but it didn’t work for me. I have a very clear native English speaking voice and have done voice over work. I’m also an audio professional and can use my condenser microphones fed through digital interfaces into my iPad in order to feed optimum quality into it. The problem I found was that it didn’t keep up with my speaking speed, which is always slow and measured when speaking to camera. When I work with a prompter operated by myself or by an operator, I would expect the current text to be near the top of the screen, with at least a couple of lines of upcoming text visible. PromptSmartLite let me speak right to the bottom of the screen and I then had to pause to let it catch up. It’s also a big flaw if you end up reading the bottom line of the screen because you can’t glance ahead in order to correctly deliver the entire phrase. I tried it initially with the demo text and then with some old scripts, but it made no difference. With a camera peeping over the iPad, my eyeline was way too low for most of the time when it did scroll..Version: 2.0.5

I like the fact of connect to cloud drives (Google, Microsoft and more) but cannot open .pages files from Apple... if can open docs, pdfs, txts why not pages? ✓ Gettysburg address or nothingYou can’t load even 1 speech of your own to try. My use case would be lyrics so I sang the Gettysburg address and it lost my place twice. Maybe it would work better with a real song but I doubt it. If you download this, you will see how it works, kinda, but why you can’t see all the features applied to the Gettysburg Address suggests to me that the features are half baked and they don’t want to show you them before you buy. $27.99 CAN is more than this demo will convince me to spend..Version: 2.0.5

✓ Does not work well enoughThis just does recognize my voice well enough to have any practical use. It generally does, but that is not good enough! It either needs to work all the time, or it is useless. Possibly, if I could use a smaller font so that I could put more words on the screen at the same time, it might work. ✓ The “Lite” version is uselessI downloaded the lite version of the app to test its abilities before paying the (Outlandish) $30 for the full version. I guess I won’t be purchasing it because the lite version has so much disabled that I couldn’t get a good idea of what this app can do. ✓ Don’t Even BotherI got this to use for my podcast. Ever since downloading it, it hasn’t worked properly once. It says it supposed to follow your voice and after the first or second paragraph it stops following it. It has not worked correctly one single time since downloading it.I spent more time starting over and doing retakes because of this app, I just gave up on it and went back to the app I was originally using. The unfortunate thing is that app doesn’t follow your voice but then again neither does this one. I’d give it zero stars if I could because it has been nothing but frustration and a waste of time! ✓ Great, until it wasn’tI picked up this app a few months ago, and it worked wonderfully. Easy to read, it followed my words intelligently, and I was able to quickly and easily upload my scripts. Unfortunately, all of a sudden it will no longer initialize my voice prompts, basically negating its primary function. I now need to manually advance the words - and that does not work. ✓ Major glitchesI really wanted to like this app, since it seems to work out of the box especially with the voice recognition scrolling. It worked for the first two sessions, but then it seems to choke quite a bit with long transcripts. But then, once it starts having errors, it’s almost impossible to make it work again even if you try to reset the application. Scrolling with voice recognition doesn’t work, and even manual screen doesn’t work. And then, it starts crashing. There’s some issues as well with toolbars appearing on the wrong side of the screen. ✓ Really wanted to like this app...I really wanted to like this app, but it is not yet ready for ”primetime.” First, it us not compatible with bluetooth and most of us who do this kind of work for a living use bluetooth remotes, clickers, pageturners, etc. WiFi is unreliable when working remotely. Trust me. I am also concerned about the requirement for a wired mike for distances greater than 5’. Really? I don't know of any videographer or video podcaster that works that closely to the camera and, no, we don't use iPhones to record our talking heads, either. The voice recognition appears to be top rate, which is what attracted me to this app. Fix these other two issues and I'd be happy to pay $20 for the pro version. Oh, one last rant. ✓ Good but....I really like this app. Especially the fact you can do cue cards instead. I like it so much I was going to upgrade to the pro version. $30 was a bit steep, then I saw that they want a monthly subscription over the $30 app. Seriously this is a perfect example of the greed in humanity. ✓ PromptSmart Lite Teleprompter can’t recordThis app might be good but the Lite version does not let you record video (nor did I see audio). Looked like all the features were only in the Pro version. ✓ Unable to determine if useful; FrustratingI have been shopping for a teleprompter to use while recording videos on my iPad Pro. This may be a good app, but the limitations of the “lite” are so strict, that I couldn’t tell if it would work for what I needed. Seems like it may work, but I tried to use this app on the side and have my camera up, and the camera would start then stop. I think this may work if it’s a paid version, but their information and instructions are poor to know that. While I’m more than happy to spend $20 if it works, there’s no way to see that. After downloading it again, the free version is even more limited. It still works, but only for 3 minutes. That to me is not a good reflection of the app. I’m waiting for an actual teleprompter and was considering buying the full version of this software. ✓ Fails when you need it mostI used this to give one of my speeches for school and oh boy did it disappoint. When I had finally spent hours rehearsing my speech and had fifteen minutes to record my final five minute speech it decided to completely malfunction on me. From not scrolling for the first five attempts it was infuriating. This app seems great but fails to execute so many times. It grew extremely irritating when I would have given the first three minutes of my speech perfectly only to have the app malfunction. I grew more and more desperate for it to work just one time through and time and time it would malfunction. It was because of the errors that I had to turn in my final speech with me scrolling on one part and then just when it seemed like I was in the clear it stopped scrolling and I had to go off memory for the last five sentences leading to me missing a few lines. I have tried to keep my response professional sounding but it was difficult considering how absolutely infuriating it was for the app to continuously malfunction. I am telling you if you are thinking about using this app for presentations to either start filming hours in advance or find an alternative..Version: 2.0.4
✓ Designed badly and not for iPhone XI bought this app because the free version doesn’t support video recording or “selfie mode” (front facing camera with autocue text near camera, so it appears that your eyes are looking into the lens as you read). I liked the voice recognition aspect, and although it works poorly on iPad, I suspect this is not a software problem. However two MAJOR flaws, and it means I wasted £20 as I simply cannot use the app: 1/ when using front facing camera to record video, the text does not flow around the iPhone X “notch”. Instead the text is HIDDEN which makes it very difficult to read, and sometimes impossible. I am not an experienced presenter and need to be able to read without words being obscured 2/ the text is not OVERLAYED over video, instead it splits the screen in two, so video is almost square. (Not original dimensions.) This makes it impossible to compose the shot correctly if you are holding the phone, even if you set it up with a mount it makes it difficult to see what you’ll actually end up with. Especially hard if filming with a small white backdrop and you need camera to be point the exact right direction. Because the LITE app doesn’t even do video, there was no way of knowing this before I spent £20 on the app, so hopefully this review will help buyers decide before wasting their money, if my points apply to them too..Version: 2.0.2

I get everything reloaded and now it tells me I’m limited to 3 minutes unless I send them thirty bucks. I find your practice distasteful and underhanded.
