✓ Few are really goodI’m doing the medium, but few are actually medium except the McClain ones. The rest ask for obscure words in foreign languages. 🙄 To me that’s NOT MEDIUM! It’s hard! I shouldn’t have a puzzle in English that asks for obscure foreign words. So I have bought this, but I’m really limited. If you speak numerous foreign languages, this is for you. 😉 Apparently, these people don’t understand the concept of MEDIUM. Too many clues have zero to do with the actual answer, also. Good luck! ALL are hard unless you speak several foreign languages. Also, if you buy this, realize it’s only going to be on the device you buy it on. They obviously haven’t had any cooperation from the ad agency, who probably don’t have a clue about malicious software which will mess with your device!!!!! ✓ Spelling errorsIt’s not bad, but I got a few puzzles in and noticed spelling errors in some of the clues. Maybe it shouldn’t be a big deal, but considering it’s a word game, it just came off as very unprofessional. Then I noticed the spelling error in the game’s actual description on the Apple store. ✓ Badly crafted & poor ‘clues’I’ve only tried about 10 games so far & consistently find that the puzzles have clearly not been crafted by people who understand how crossword clues should be made. A large number of the clues aren’t crossword clues per se, they’re general knowledge questions like “the role Julia Roberts played in Oceans 11”. Also, a large number of clues are merely synonyms. Some of them are almost impossible to guess because the answer is in fact incorrect or bad grammar. Like the one where the correct answer should have been a 3 word answer: ‘The Plot Thickens’ & instead the answer was ‘thickening plot’. I guess you could argue it’s a creative/poetic version of the phrase but as an English Major & writer it’s just infuriating. There are WAY too many abbreviations & most of them are specific to America. I don’t know how they found the people who created these crosswords but they just make me want to express words that are cross. 😑.So displeasedVersion: 1.4

✓ Loud ads override mute switchThis is an otherwise excellent app made useless by ads that override the phone’s silent switch. Too many times I’ve just finished a puzzle and I’m shocked by a loud noise from the ad that just started. My silent switch is on, and my phone is in night mode because it’s the middle of the night. There is nothing else I’m aware that I can do to make it clear that I don’t want noise. It wakes me further and also disturbs my wife’s sleep. I’m OK with ads I have to watch for a few seconds, and I can even tolerate those **** tiny exes I have to tap on to close the ad. But intentionally overriding my obvious intent to not be disturbed is too much. I’m done. I’m deleting the app. I’ll find something else to do when I can’t sleep..SteeeeeeevvvveeeeeMVersion: 1.4.9

✓ Keeps going to black screenSix times now I’ve had to reinstall when it gets stuck in a black screen and won’t get out. So I lose all the games I played and have to repeat. Stinks! Once, I thought it was a quirk of my phone. Twice it’s the sign of a bad app. Three times, well you get the picture. Don’t press the home button when you look at preferences. It sends you to a black hole. Lame! You’re stuck and end up losing all your data and have to replay games when you reinstall. A fourth and fifth and sixth time it wasn’t even the home button, just the end of a game or middle of a game. I emailed the developer and got an email back that was nice but did not reference the fact that it’s product goes to a black screen you can’t get out of and requires app removal and reinstall action to play again. ✓ Tedious and frustratingThere is a lot of content for a freemium app but the experience navigating the selection is absolutely terrible. Why would I care about the first initial and last name of the person who wrote the crossword? Why would I select that way? I would like to be able to navigate by subject matter if anything. To be fair you can filter by difficulty and size so that’s reasonable. But you have to scroll horizontally past screen after screen if puzzles, click on one and see its content, decide it’s an awful puzzle , back out then the scroll starts over from the beginning. And speaking of awful puzzles: that’s the other big problem. The puzzles are presented in groups by author and they often just repeat the same clues or at least answers from puzzle to puzzle. ✓ Frequent crashes upon openingOverall good app. However, I’ve recently noticed that the app often crashes immediately when I open it (as in: I tap the app icon on my home screen to open it, the splash screen comes up for about half a second, and then the app immediately crashes and I’m sent back to my home screen). When this happens, nothing I do seems to help (tried force quitting the app and force quitting all other apps on my phone), but the problem is inconsistent. Once I was playing in airplane mode, and when the plane I was on landed, I turned off airplane mode (without exiting the app), and the app immediately crashed. Subsequent attempts to open the app also resulted in immediate crashes. Not sure if airplane mode is actually related to this bug. Device info: iPhone 6S, iOS 12.1.4.Thomlv94Version: 1.3.7

✓ Apps Not Syncing Between DevicesFirst off, I love crossword puzzles and I really like this app. I’ve had the free version for quite sometime and finally took the plunge for the ad-free version. What I’d hope to find was syncing between the apps. The iPad and iPhone versions do not appear to be “talking”. My completed puzzles are matching, even the ones in progress aren’t matching. That’s my biggest issue. One other issue is the filtering. I like being about to sort by size and difficulty but would really like to be able to sort by creator. And maybe even some sort of order to the main page, alphabetical or numerical. Everything inside the puzzles themselves I like. They’re responsive to touch and do not feel clunky in the least. I am happy to support this team by paying for the app because of all the hours of enjoyment I’ve had over time. I don’t like the layout or the way the puzzles look now as it is hard to concentrate on and looks like every other word puzzle out there. ✓ This game blows chunksSure, if you like perpetually recycled words, acronyms, multiple word prompts, and an all-around poor crossword experience, then this is the game for you! Sadly though, I think bare minimum thought processes went into developing the program that creates these crossword puzzles. Too often I find the same prompt which leads to the same word on many different puzzles, which wouldn’t be a big deal if they weren’t immediately preceding or succeeding each other. There is also very frequent use of “words in phrases” that use short verbs such as “is or are” and short prepositions like “as, in, on, etc.,” which is incredibly lazy. I prefer my crossword games to not recycle words so frequently that they show up on immediately following puzzles. I also prefer full words as opposed to a string of prepositions within a phrase. Just a lazy program that pumps out these puzzles that doesn’t pay any attention to the previous puzzle it just pumped out..NateL64856Version: 1.6.5
