Aqua credit card for Negative User Reviews

Slow, inefficient, frustrating appA late payment, which is small but irritating, was incurred after repeatedly trying to log in via the App. It’s then locked and even the verification codes sent, directly copy and pasted from the authentication emails, won’t work. When the app is working, it’s fine, but once you have to re-log in, it’s clunky, costly, inefficient to the point of useless. This app is ultimately a waste of time, and online via a proper browser would be much better. Some suspect that it’s deliberately this hard to frustrate payments but I think it’s far more likely that it’s just a very badly designed app..Version: 3.0.3

Some good, some badI’ve found the Aqua card useful for rebuilding my credit score, and the app is easy to use. However I would like it a lot more if I could use it for Apple Pay, and if they offered a contactless card. I also had a problem when I paid my bill the day I was notified of it, only to find that I had paid it too early and was going to be penalised because it hadn’t registered as that month’s payment (even though I pay my balance in full every month). Apart from that I have no issues with it! To be fair, when I’ve had to call customer services they’ve been great..Version: 2.3.0

Chasing me whilst I’m in hospitalI have had so many calls and messages from Aqua because I have failed to pay - I was unable to contact them because I am in hospital with a serious illness which i eventually wrote to them about. As a consequence of my illness I lost my job and therefore had no money to pay my bills including my rent. I have had to beg and borrow to pay my arrears today then as they have said that they are going to report me to credit agencies and charge me fees. I hope that they will have the heart not to charge me any fees. Aqua do not give up calling you - sometimes 10-20 times a day. There are people with higher debts than me surely they would be better chasing them and not the underdogs..Version: 3.0.2

Bad first impressionAfter received my pin and card (which happened relatively smoothly) I activated the card using the app. But it still would not work in-store or online. Phone lines have a long waiting time and even when I got through they didn’t fix the issue and I had to phone back again. The “chat” option in the app also doesn’t work so can’t communicate from there. Still on hold waiting. My card has been active since 18/02 and I am still unable to use it 01/03. Not much use in a card that doesn’t work..Version: 4.3.3

Avoid at all costs!Extortionate interests rates Contacted them to say I was finding my interest rate crippling and they emailed me saying nothing we can do or are prepared to do about it! I would have rated zero stars if it was an option. Also they send you a statement with a recommended payment for the month,an option for a boosted payment and you have to look hard to find your actual contractual minimum monthly payment amount, if you use the App and click on the ‘pay’ button it only lists boosted and recommended payments at the top, you need to scroll down to find the minimum payment . This would be terribly confusing for someone paying their bill in a hurry and you could easily end up paying the ‘recommended’ amount by mistake , resulting in you inadvertently paying way too much.Version: 2.3.0

Incorrectly charged interest & feesI took out the Aqua card to take advantage of the 0% interest balance transfer offer, which I arranged, as specified, within a few days of account opening, for the maximum amount available to me. Just over a month later, I was told by the app. that my account was over the agreed borrowing limit and that I’d been charged an over limit fee. This was because I HAD been charged interest on what should have been 0% interest borrowing! After calling Aqua, I wasn’t given an explanation or result, but was informed that someone would call me back within 5 working days. This did not happen, so I was forced to phone them myself again. On this occasion, they refunded all interest and charges. The only explanation they could offer was that the charges had been made in error. I’ve had a week of pure stress, the app. having told me the over-limit could affect my credit rating, which I’ve been working hard to improve. Not recommended!.Version: 4.2.5

Not the best out there.The aqua credit card is great i wont lie, its been very useful to have during hard times. However, the last two months i have left at least £5 on my account which i don’t use then i NEVER go over my limit yet i have both times without even using the £5 i had left! Ive been charged £42 (£12 interest and the £30 i apprantly spent going over my limit) but this doesnt show up on my statment anywhere. And then again this month. I’m not happy. Im spending more money to pay it off even though i havnt used the money they claim i am overdrawn by..Version: 2022.14.2

Bit clunky and dated but not too badCould really do with the cash back amounts appearing on the transactions or statements within the app. This would be good for tracking purposes but I was told that this is a facility that they don’t offer at the moment - although you can ring or request this information via the in-app chat feature. Other cashback cards I’ve used in the past have either shown how much cash back has been received per transaction (ie if you’ve spent £2 it would indicate £0.01) or it would show you the amount earned per month on the statement/transactions within the app. Just think that it would be useful to know when you’ve triggered the £100 mark. Do you have a suggestions email address or something so that this can be passed onto the app/site developers?.Version: 3.0.0

Have to keep logging inNever had this issue with the iPhone but on the iPad I have to log in at least once, sometimes twice a week. I thought it was due to updates originally but it is happening more often now without any available updates. It seems very pointless as there is plenty of security logging in with the iPad (fingerprint etc) and is actually really frustrating when I just want to quickly log in to keep an eye on what is a happening with my account or need to verify a purchase..Version: 2022.50.3

Be careful around Aqua!I have several credit cards, every single one of them quotes a figure that I have available as CREDIT, however,Aqua will give you an indication of how much credit you have left to spend, But, however, if you are at all near that number? , the next thing you know!, you have gone over your limit and a charge will be applied, why show a credit available and then sting the customer for using it! ????.Version: 2022.47.1

Trying to contact AquaToday I tried to contact Aqua three times regarding a query before paying my bill, but after extreme frustration from the automated phone service was told that due to the large amount of customers also trying, I would have to wait in excess of 45 minutes! This is not acceptable, it is a blatant diversion tactic to not deal with customers, the App is not appropriate I needed to speak with a real person! Have payed my bill in full and will be sending a written complaint and if this is not rectified will be going to the financial ombudsman! A shame on you Aqua!.Version: 2022.37.2

Awful app - website and app is downDon’t think I’ve once opened this app without there being an error message pop up or it being buggy. The app doesn’t remember your card details to pay off balances, payments don’t always get accepted although I’ve previously seen money taken out my account after it saying it was unsuccessful, and currently, the app and website are both down so I cannot pay anything off - convenient for you, Aqua? If you’re trying to build credit score up, I would NOT recommend this. Have a scroll through all the other reviews and take that as a sign that you should not get a credit card with Aqua..Version: 2.0.11

App obfuscates meaningful dates and amountsThe app has become more and more deceptive. It’s impossible to tell what the minimum payment is, how much you’ve actually paid ‘this period’. Also the actual payment window is somewhere in the region of 10 days rather than 30/31 days in a month. They also arbitrarily increase interest rates by 10% at will, so I’d advise heading to a loan shark; at least you know what you’re getting. Aqua are the real crooks, because you assume it’s reputable. It absolutely is not. Have a good read of the top App review and ask yourself ‘is that a real UK customer or a paid review(from elsewhere perhaps)’? Crooks, promise you..Version: 2022.29.3

Do not use this companyI was successful in an application for a credit card. Aqua sent the card to a previous address I lived at 3 years ago. Which I only found about when I called the customer services team, as the card had not been delivered and I was chasing this up. I was told I would have to have my mail redirected or close down the account and apply again in 6 months.. They could not cancel the card or reissue a new one to the correct address on an unactivated card bearing in mind the card has probably been received at the old address. This is hardly helpful given the current climate. If there was no help given in a situation as a new customer in a matter of urgency as this , left me with no choice but to close my account. It was really goodIn many ways - as long as you don’t wish to speak to someone online - it’s still an incredibly handy app. But I’ve found myself in the position where I have a broken phone so can’t actually call anyone, and need to go through the app. I CAN’T go through the app because everything works but the chat. The moment you press to chat online, the app shuts down. Rinse, repeat. Developers, any chance you could fix this please? It’s been over a month, and that’s the only thing holding me back from giving the app 5 stars..Version: 4.2.5

I Have had Endless problems with this set up !I applied for an Aqua card ages ago ( they did not send mea pin). I applied for a balance transfer (which was what at 0 % I wanted the Aqua card for) and by the time I got them to answer the phone the 60 day limit had expired! What a farce Studio told me that I couldn’t apply for their offer of 0% over 6 months as I had already been offered 1 with another account on New Day!!??? When I finally got it set up in May of this year - I am still undergoing problems! I received a text that said I would need to make a payment of £5 by the 13th June to avoid a late payment charge! I am writing this on the 5th June and I received a call from a supplier of goods to say my payment has been declined by Aqua??? I am unable to do anything about this as it is a Sunday (Bank Holiday)! There is enough money left In credit to pay this supplier so am left feeling that Aqua is a useless credit card to have! What is the point of having a credit card that is constantly declined??I think I will put in a complaint as you do not relate your expertise to me in your reply Jake - I will have to complain, in writing, to get anywhere!.Version: 2022.21.5
