Planescape: Torment for Negative User Reviews

IPad onlyLike a novice, i downloaded it eyes closed thinking i was going to enjoy my favorite rpg wherever i go. It’s un-playable on an iphone 11. Resolution is 4:3. You can’t see crap even with glasses. So yea... ipad only.... in 4:3. Great work guys!....Version: 3.1.3

Be great once the mortuary door is made easier to walk through. If you like spending half your game time trying to walk through a doorway then this is for you!.Version: 3.1.3

No spanishNo Spanish translation..Version: 3.1.3

Works on this phone? With a magnifying glass maybe!Bought this because of all the great reviews and when I looked it up it had “Works with this phone” noted. Then I tried to play it. The zoom works well but the text is not always in a larger font even when selected and the button/icons are so small you can’t tell what they are supposed to do. Very frustrating. This is probably a good game but should be listed as IPad required. Come on here people. I think this quote from Jurassic Park says it best “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.”.Version: 3.1.3

No TranslateDO NOT RECOMMEND TO BUY. The author just adjusts price as update content last year! It’s better to go to play cracks, at least there is a language package inside..Version: 3.1.3

Stuttering audio in cut scenes is portent of low qualityIt should be easy to just play back a video with an audio track..Version: 3.1.3

UI is unusable on iPhoneThe game is fun enough but the interface hasn’t been up scaled for phones so it’s absolutely tiny. Like, so small you can hardly read the text or distinguish between buttons. It makes it such a hassle to play, I’m not really enjoying it. EDIT: After bearing with it for 10 more minutes, I’ve realised this game is actually unplayable on iPhone. The inventory slots are so small that the game doesn’t recognise when you’re trying to take an item from a a shelf or a body etc. I am asking for a refund..Version: 3.1.3

Looks like it would be fun on an iPadThis game is not playable on a phone. Looks like it would be a lot of fun on an iPad though, I wish I had one. They should mention this is for iPad only..Version: 3.1.3

Tiny MenusI wish I had seen the “iPad only” suggestion before buying this one. I’ve wanted to play this game for years, but my old eyes and stumpy fingers make the tiny UI a non-starter. Always read labels thoroughly, kids!.Version: 3.1.3

Still made no effort to improve this game?Someone commented on this TWO YEARS ago, the devs responded, but seemingly nothing came of it; the buttons and options for this game are incredibly tiny, requiring pinpoint accuracy to activate them, creating an extremely frustrating experience just trying to play the game. The Baldur’s Gate games aren’t so bad thanks to the UI buttons being larger and clearly labeled, but the UI for Planescape is different, the options are smaller, closer together, which makes them harder to press. And no, increasing the font size doesn’t help with options that are represented by images, and not text. You want to attack that enemy? Nope, instead of selecting your weapon, you just unpaused the game and had your party swarmed by enemies, who are now dropping like flies while you panic trying to hit the pause button again, and failing repeatedly. Seriously, ADD A UI SCALING OPTION!.Version: 3.1.3

Doors are… badLook, it’s a good game, and a mostly tolerable port, but sometimes - and quite regularly - you can spend between a minute to five minutes trying to get through a door because of annoying 1990s programming. Which is bad..Version: 3.1.3

Waste of moneyI knew I shouldn’t have wasted my money on this after getting stuck in the tutorials on Baldurs Gate 1 and 2. I’ve played this game for 5 minutes and i’m stuck already, find the scalpel and attack the zombies, how?? I’ve read the instructions 3 times and it doesn’t tell you anywhere how to attack, i’ve found the scalpel, equipped it, click on the zombies and nothing happens, instructions for these games are useless, I want my money back, i’ve spent over £20 on these games and I haven’t got anywhere with any of them!.Version: 3.1.3

Unplayable on SEI literally can’t pick up the scalpel at the very beginning of the game. Having an SE, I knew there’d be some difficulties due to the size of the phone, but I figured you’d at least be able to scale the UI. Nope. Just glad I bought this instead of BG or ID. Better 4 down the drain than 10. Don’t buy if you have an SE..Version: 3.1.3

No sound!No sound on iPhone!.Version: 3.1.3

Not worth the moneyI bought this game based on reviews that said the story telling was good and it really made you think about choices you had to make in the game. So far the only choice I have been pondering is why I spent so much money on this game. I really wanted to like this game but, after several hours of exploring the game I am just annoyed at all the conversations that you have to click through just to find out that nine out of ten characters in the game have nothing useful to say. I know nothing more about the story line of the game compared to when I started. The mechanics are clunky, and the Pvm seems nearly pointless for the amount of xp you gain for it. It is a lot of wandering around and a lot of "clicking" through useless conversations, and either fighting or running away from people who are attacking you for seemingly no reason. There is a fine line between exploring in a game versus aimlessly wandering. In this game I felt like I was doing more aimlessly wandering than exploring. For ten dollars I was expecting a lot more story line in the first few hours of the game and some thought provoking choices instead of wandering around repeatedly asking people for a person and a journal that no one seems to have any idea of where either one is. If I choose to continue in this game I will need to consult a guide. Not my idea of a good game. It should also be noted that the game takes up a hefty piece of memory as well..Version: 3.0.3

Slow startI know I can’t be too far into the game, but it doesn’t seem to have the same tempo of the rest of the bg series..Version: 3.1.3

Menu is waaaaaaayyyy too smallCan’t press the right buttons most of the time cause the menu is too small. Needs to be at the very least 4 times bigger(seriously). I just can’t play it. It also seems unresponsive to what I’m trying to do but maybe my fingers are just too big for the freakishly small buttons..Version: 3.1.3

IPad only unfortunatelyI have a XS Max and still the text and buttons/controls are tiny. It often takes several tries to hit the right button or dialog text. Not only are all the controls tiny, but there are a ton of them all next to each other so it is all too easy to hit the wrong one. Maybe add a pinch and zoom everywhere not just on the view area?.Version: 3.1.3

Won’t launchWon’t launch on my iPad, despite the App Store claiming it is compatible..Version: 3.1.3

Sorry to sayThis thing is kind of like Diablo, but the mobile phone adaptation is utter trash. UI is so small, untappable. Moving clicking attacking picking, are all multi step actions. UI is just plan ugly, very low res. Waste of $10..Version: 3.1.3

UnplayableThis game is frozen in time and the effort to port it to mobile was minimal. It’s like an unresponsive site that just scales down for mobile. Trying to click the menus requires multiple taps and seeing what’s you’re clicking requires a telescope. Don’t buy it if you’re hit with a pang of nostalgia. You’re better off with your memories of the original game..Version: 3.1.3

Do not buy unless you have an I padUnplayable on an iPhone 7. Yes I adjusted the settings. I wish I could get a refund. I get suckered by every tactical rpg they put on here! Update: developer responded. Go to this website a give us more details. Here are the details. Your game is unplayable on a small screen and you or Apple should give everyone who bought it on a phone a refund.Version: 3.1.3

Unable to leave first roomThis game seems broken. I’ve created multiple characters now but I’m unable to leave the first room - I have the key in my inventory but neither of the doors will open..Version: 3.1.3

Please add chineseRt.Version: 3.1.3

Not a mobile friendly portInterface has no optimisations for small screens, and makes poor use of screen real estate. Would work fine on iPad, but even a 7 plus is too small.Version: 3.0.3

Absolute waste of moneyCannot even tap anything correctly because everything is too small. The developers clearly never had to play on an iPhone. I’m on an iPhone X and it’s impossible..Version: 3.1.3

Needs Menu-Zoom functionality! It’s gonna have to be a solid 3 for the port alone but if the game had a user-friendly zoom-in functionality for the menus it could be a 5 star masterpiece. I’ve tried playing this game on the road and it’s unbearable on a bumpy ride. It’s worst than 3-D glasses at the theater! It’s a shame, my phone is now the only place I can get my game on these days. You guys should challenge yourselves when porting these hidden gems, what’s your motivation? Easy money? Fast cash? Because your work will be reflected in the end-results. I hope you guys look into this deal-breaking issue. Good luck 👍🏼 Edit: thanks for taking the time to read my review. I already tried the UI menu scaling and it’s still not enough. I press the wrong buttons like 60 percent of the time. The buttons are not clunky or unresponsive; they’re just too small to accurately interact with them. Especially on the road..Version: 3.1.3

Please add UI scalingThe buttons are horribly small. I am in my mid-40s with decent vision and just can’t enjoy playing this with the current size issues..Version: 3.1.3

Needs cloud saveExcellent port of an excellent game, but it really needs a cloud save feature or a way to backup saves. I had an iPad crash and I lost a 20 hour game save. This is a common feature in most modern games and it’s especially useful when playing across iPhone and iPad.Version: 3.1.3
