ARP ODYSSEi for Positive User Reviews

A couple of pointsAlthough I also have an IPad Air 2 (therefore I am safe). I wanted to underline that this is not available for the iPad 3 ("The New iPad") or iPad 4 (retina) even if they have iOS 9.3 installed. Does this mean that iPad 3/4 Korg Gadget future support is to be abandoned, going forward? This aside, although I only downloaded the app 2 days ago and haven't spent that much time with it, this looks like an excellent version of the Arp Odyssey. I certainly did not see it coming that's for sure!.Version: 1.0.1

This synth feels like coming home 👍I never got to experience the Odyssey when it was originally released. I wasn't born for another couple of years and had only just started exploring music in elementary school when it stopped being produced. Having grown up listening to this synth being played and utilized by virtually every electronic artist I was discovering at the time, this app is a real gift! I literally lose hours grinning from ear to ear, thoroughly enjoying every aspect of this wonderful synth- thank you very much for making a giant of my youth available again!.Version: 1.0.3

Great option if you are looking for a great synth replica!Has great features and much much more. I recommend plugging in a keyboard but you can use the arpeggiator or the x and y axis grid for some real fun either way! I have the real odyssey too and it’s true to its name! Masterpiece of software!.Version: 1.0.6

Home sweet homeIf you are an old and wizened synth-head, this is a bargain to get your old familiar tool in the palm of your hand. If you're a kid who missed it, it's a bargain to find out why we're so attached to these old beasts. no brained, you need this..Version: 1.0.3

Amazing!!!Fantastic synth. The unison is awesome, polyphonic Arp Oddysey within Gadget, too good. Thanks Korg!.Version: 1.0.3

Love the sound but some issuesIt sounds great but I've had to delete and reinstall 3 times as the sound has been disappearing. Also give us more presets stop trying to get more cash for presets..Version: 1.0.1

AwesomeIt is Korg every iPad synth the make is incredible !.Version: 1.0.3

Awesome sound, but MIDI Sync... 😬Love this synth; love the sound and the controllability. The MIDI implementation leaves a bit to be desired though. I use IDAM to use the app within Logic X. Without the ability to externally Sync MIDI in the app, I can’t use any of the built in Tempo sync options. I have to use the Modulator MIDI effect in Logic as an LFO as well as Logic’s arpeggiator and that tends to get pretty tedious..Version: 1.0.4

As an Original Odyssey Owner...I owned an original, whiteface, v1 ARP Odyssey back in 1972. I am here to tell you that this thing ROCKS!!! Sound is authentic, and the added features make it the Odyssey I would have killed-for back in the day. Could there be improvements? Sure; but there is a hella lot of spectacular-sounding music to be made with this little App. Great job, Korg!!!.Version: 1.0.3

Great but....The sound is the real thing. This is where it started for me. But it’s missing midi ? Yep. I know the original didn’t but it’s difficult to make live changes on a screen slider 15 mm high ??? Thanks for a quality app. 👍.Version: 1.0.6

If you're a fan of music apps this is one to purchaseWow, amazing sounds, really intuitive and works well on its own or within gadget. Purchased the additional sound modules, all of the patches are great. Tried the app sequenced from modstep and this works great, no problem with the clock sync, everything just worked. I can't believe how good these korg apps are and ARP ODYSSEi is right up there with the best..Version: 1.0.0

AwesomeGot an iTunes card and this was the first thing I thought of to buy.Version: 1.0.3

The real thingI have had the chance to compare it to a real arp odyssey and this thing sounds almost identical. Korg did an amazing emulation job here. Shame they still haven’t released an auv3 version :(.Version: 1.0.6

11 Inch iPad Display SupportGreat synth, that works in Gadget. Just wish it filled my 11 inch iPad screen in standalone mode..Version: 1.0.4

Sounds greatYes there are a few little hiccups between the two versions of the app, but all in all it's one of the best on iOS. Would normally give about 4.5, but as some will give low scores for this most excellent synth, I'm giving it 5 because Korg have done good with this one and deserve the praise. Just remember Korg. In future give us an email export for patches please..Version: 1.0.0

AUv3 Support NeededLove the sound of the ARP ODYSSEi with it’s faithful re-creation of the ARP SEQUENCER but it’s high time KORG gives this beauty AUv3 support so we can plug it into a real DAW..Version: 1.0.6

Great but issues that should be fixed a long time agoGreat for the most part although it crashes when trying to import user presets, that should have been fixed by now, seems like a Korg is in no hurry to get rid of bugs. But further more, I’ve pretty much bought everything Korg has made for IOS minus ikaossilator IELECTRIBE Gorillaz edition, and IDS 10 ( I may get the IDS10 at some point....maybe). But.....Korg really needs to look into porting their apps to Audio Unit, because at some point I’m going to stop buying music apps that don’t support AUV3. I don’t buy stand along apps that don’t have plug in versions on my Mac and I’m slowly but surely heading in that direction on my Ipad..Version: 1.0.3

Love itWork great in Gadget now after os update.Version: 1.0.0

Needs an update. Still sounds cool. I pray for audio units each night before bed.Tempo control is tough on this because you only have one way... the apps way. Please add link or external tempo control! The more I use gadget and this synth I realize that korg needs to get on the audio unit bandwagon because I hate how taxing gadget can get when you really stack things up. They need to implement track freezing in that too! It would be great wouldn’t it. 🤪 As far as my review for this synth goes, it’s got awesome arpeggios and oscillators, but all the cool stuff is in the apps presets that sadly don’t get included in the gadget presets. Pick up an arpeggiator app like StepPolyArp or Rozeta sequencer suite and Aum until midi clock in is supported!.Version: 1.0.3

AddictiveIt’s incredibly good and addictive. You can modulate almost every parameters even the effects!A bit fiddly to edit as someone else mentioned here tho.. And the ability to share the presets with the desktop vst would be very useful!!! Hopefully the developer will add this feature later...Version: 1.0.6

Great start, but needs Audio Unit ExtensionsThis app is fun to use and works with the Kong gadget app. It is a massive pity you can not use it with GarageBand like other apps. The Audio Unit Extensions should be included for the price..Version: 1.0.5

Midi Learn and patch import pleaseApp sounds great. Would be very helpful to be able to assign MIDI cc’s. It would also be great to be able to import and export patches so that users can share their sounds. Both these capabilities are very standard on most iOS synths, and it’s a shame that one of the most authentic sounding synth apps on the market doesn’t offer either..Version: 1.0.4

Simply AmazingI bought this synth many years ago when it first launched and I wasn’t into synths very much yet. Fast forward 5 years and I have bought over 15 synths from vintage analog to new hybrid. This version of the Odyssey keeps up with the best of my real life synths. Not only does it sound great, but also has multi-voice polyphony, incredibly real sounding filters, and effects modules that further make this synth one of the most versatile I’ve ever used. Running my iPad’s output into my audio interface and an analog outboard sweetener makes this synth indispensable for creative noodling to recording. I’m glad I pulled the trigger on this so long ago, because this synth is easily one of my favorite virtual synths ever made..Version: 1.0.6

Great synth, nearly brilliantLovely sound and great interface, and works well in Gadget. One star off for poor MIDI implementation and lack of Link, plus user presets created in the standalone app don't carry across to Lexington Gadget. Hope these small issues get fixed and the app isn't abandoned, like the iPolysix. Otherwise a really good synth..Version: 1.0.0

You'll get 5 when you sort the midi connect issues.Love the sounds and would love to use it as my go-to on stage, but automatically cuts out sound every time I go back to it from other apps, and cannot isolate it midi settings, when playing on iPad screen. I'm sure these issues will be sorted soon... (crosses fingers).Version: 1.0.1

FiddlyOnscreen operation is fiddly and jumps around a lot.Version: 1.0.3

Beautiful sounding IOS synth. It’s still early days , but of all the IOS synths I own this one sounds the best..Version: 1.0.6

AmazingThis has to be the best synth I've ever used. Works well in Gadget and although CPU hungry it's worth it for the rich organic sound it produces. Everything is nicely laid out and it's a joy to program. Great job Korg!!.Version: 1.0.1

Sounds like the real thingNo really, it does. I have the hardware (Korg desktop module) and they totally nailed the emulation. Here’s hoping they make an ARP 2600 plugin next!.Version: 1.0.4

Thank you KORGEdit: My iPhone suffered from a weird glitch that made my passcode not work with my phone. I thought I had lost all my presets, but luckily KORG enabled auto cloud sync. Thank you a million times over to the devs, you saved hours upon hours of my work. Old: Sounds absolutely amazing! Thanks to the devs at KORG for this incredible recreation. I would really like to see the arpeggiator implemented inside the Lexington gadget, though, because it is really powerful. Definitely one of my favorite parts about this recreation..Version: 1.0.3

Great synthVery accurate reproduction of the classic synth with some really good extras. Korg, PLEASE make it (and your other synths) AUv3, that’s the only reason why I’ve not left 5 stars.Version: 1.0.5

Sound is Great, Midi is Poor (Again Korg)Lovely sounding, good integration with Gadget. Once again though for a Korg iOS synth the midi implementation is very weak. No programme change via midi so all but useless if you want to use it live. If this is important to you I'd avoid it until they sort it (although given their track record with apps like Polysix better midi may never come)..Version: 1.0.0

Please fix clockThis synth sounds great I use it as a note pad for my ark desktop version but to use this version well with a daw you need the clock to function come on korg you need to address This I love korg stuff so I'm still won't be hard as it sounds fantastic..Version: 1.0.3

Please add auv3 supportYet again another great Korg app. Just needs auv3 support now after IOS 13 update..Version: 1.0.3

Best ipad synth, & i have them allMy band uses this on several songs live and in studio. nuff said.Version: 1.0.6

Sounds just like the original!I owned the original white ARP Odyssey for many years and I kept the "Perform! on the ARP Odyssey Synthesizer" with Roger Powell book of patches and I've added these patches to my ODYSSEi and they sound exactly as I remember them. All of the settings are true to the original. This app is so realistic that I bought a 12.9" iPad Pro just so that the interface could be almost as big as the original. I also purchased the Rev 1 skin and program pack just so that I could have the white interface that I remember owning. It is so awesome to have an ARP Odyssey again. You won't be disappointed..Version: 1.0.3

Excellent recreation of the originalI just bought this for use on my iPad Pro, and I love it. If you want the sound of an Odyssey, but can’t afford a vintage one, or a KORG reissue. This is your best alternative. Thanks again KORG !🤓.Version: 1.0.3

Happy with it, especially at /$15 sale price!Get it while it's cheap/!.Version: 1.0.3

Needs midiGreat emulation of this classic synth but cmon, no midi functionality?..!,!.Version: 1.0.3

Gadget addict needs arpeggiator.Four stars until the arpeggiator starts working in Gadget. Other than that, truly awesome app. As close as you can get to the original I would think. Don't know why people put up stupid reviews complaining about their own MIDI setups though. Check your gear before blaming the app. Mine works great with all my midi gear..Version: 1.0.3

Fun .,I use this a lot for the fantastic fat bass sounds ., it’s my fave.Version: 1.0.3

Great sound, poor midiThis is an amazing synth. One of the best in my ios collection. However the midi is temperamental to say the least. Adjusting the tempo is equally painful. The app also fails to show up in the midi instrument list of Audiobus 3 as other apps do. In fact, it happens to all my Korg apps. Sort this out and I will give it 5 stars..Version: 1.0.3

A mountain of Sound conveniently mobileI play the bass so I’ve got an ear for a really good sounding bass …this particular device gives me a lot to choose from …as far as different tones and I don’t get calluses on my fingers I love it ha ha ha ha I just love it.Version: 1.0.3

Great sounds but needs moreThis is a very good app, with tons of sounds and lots of control. The only problem is the Gadget doesn't have the original arpeggiator that makes some presets sound great, and I want to use it in songs within extra routing. Also, is there a solution for the silence if used with Audiobus and GarageBand? Either way, definitely a must, and you should check it out if it goes cheap. Also got the in-app purchased and they're good too. If you're wondering if you're going to pick between this and Module, get this first. Let's hope they update this with more presets like Gadget!.Version: 1.0.3

Seems good so far BUT...For some reason it's not showing up in gadget which is half the reason I got it in the first place :/ How do I make it important/show it in gadget? I'm using it on my iPhone SE as I don't have an iPad atm..Version: 1.0.0

Excellent! This is great. With a camera adaptor lead I can play this amazing synth on my iPhone via a USB keyboard in my live set! The sounds are brilliant. The only disappointment for me is that it isn't so good when used within gadget. The little loops and patches don't play the same in gadget, so I hope that gets addressed at some point..Version: 1.0.2

Very accurateFunny to read reviews complaining about how finicky the controls are in this app. obviously these folks never played with a real® arp odyssey. the real synth was one of the most painful devices to manipulate. its sliders were awful crude controls. it also had no program memory so recreating a sound if you'd stumbled upon something cool was next to impossible. having its fabulous sounds in such a easily programmable interface is a big win. (it is better on an ipad.) kudos to korg for recreating this old synth. also nostalgia..Version: 1.0.3

Amazingly playableNever played the real O but sounds very much like the real one reviewed by SonicLabs on YouTube. A must buy!.Version: 1.0.1

Really nice synth - but where's the scale keys?Well done, Kong, on another winning synth app. My only query is where's the scale key function in the app proper? It's available within Gadget - all sorts of lovely scales to choose from. It would just be nice to have the same capabilities in the actual app..Version: 1.0.1

Too good a synth not to be coded AUv3One of the best emulations out there. It’s time to make it compatible with the new DAWs coming on line that are turning iPad into serious music recording/production equipment..Version: 1.0.6

Korg: take a bowAnother glorious addition to iOS synth collections from Korg. These guys consistently set such high standards and this app does not disappoint. Stunning, amazing, feature-packed, works alone or as multiple instances inside Gadget and sounds wonderful. Full MIDI cc list issued. I love it :).Version: 1.0.1

Great soundSounds great, a lot of depth to dive into parameters and tweaks. Plenty of ways to customize on the presets or start from scratch to build your own sounds..Version: 1.0.3

One of my favoritesThis is one of my favorite iOS synths to use in my music. My only wish is that it could also be loaded up as an audio unit as well. But inter-app audio will do for now..Version: 1.0.3

Great way to learn about and play on a vintage synthSo I’ve had this app for about 3 months maybe, and I found It really frustrating at first, but a few online tutorials and many hours of experimentation later I got the hang of things. I know this app could be slightly better in how it plays with other apps, but earlier today when I was in samash I was able to walk up to the Karp odyssey they had as a floor model and I was able to dial in some cool patches and make a full analogue synth sound great all from studying only the app version. In my opinion that deserves 5 stars..Version: 1.0.4

Amazing synth - needs AUv3This synth sounds amazing and is a delight to play, It’s becoming a core instrument for me. I’d give 5 stars but I would like to be able to use this app into the future, and the future of iOS music is Audio Units, not IAA - Korg, please update with auv3 capacity! Otherwise we will all miss out on the many ways to incorporate this into a full iOS setup..Version: 1.0.5

Great appI love the sound of this emulation. Please could we have a way of importing presets in? In all other respects, it’s seemingly perfect - thank you..Version: 1.0.5

Excellent, but problematicI have just purchased ODYSSEi, and for the most part, really like it. It's more like a true analog synth, with respect to programming, than most of my other iOS synth apps. This doesn't make it one of my favorite apps, but in terms of workflow, it's pretty analog. I am not hugely enamored with most of the stock sounds, but in a matter of a few minutes, I was able to tweak a few to my liking. What I find odd is that in hardware, Korg is truly one of my favorites, but I find this to be far from true in the iOS Korg app world. Inside of Gadget, ODYSSEi runs under a different name, and appears to underwhelm, severely. First of all, user edits in ODYSSEi don't show up when it's opened up in Gadget, which makes it almost useless for me, with respect to Gadget. Secondly, almost all the arps don't work when the app is opened up in Gadget. What a bummer, Korg!.Version: 1.0.3

Great sound, but not AUv3Great sounding synth with sequencer for live use, but it’s not AUv3, which would allow me to record Midi into my favorite iOS Daw. It’s InterApp Audio though. Love the sequencer, great for lead sounds..Version: 1.0.3

5 starExcellent Implementation.I was thinking of getting the hardware version from Korg, but opted for upgrading my IPad to a Pro 12.9 With the Korg mini plug adaptor to connect full size keyboard this becomes awesome.Really like the integration of sequencer, effects and Kaoss pad into one,.This is a good case study of Skeuomorphism. From a delighted 80s teenager, now making the most of today's tech. Cheers.Version: 1.0.3

PerfectAbsolutely amazing recreation of a classic. Sounds great and the added features are welcome. For the nerds: this time around, Korg modelled oscillator drift (missing from iMS-20) and capacitor discharge (missing from iPolysix). This is their best virtual analogue synth yet IMO. Update: They seem to have addressed the oscillator drift. It's good to have the option but to all those who complained, analog synths don't stay perfectly in tune!.Version: 1.0.3

Please add AUv3 supportGreat sound and faithful recreation of an iconic early synth. Add AUv3 support and it’s a 5 star app all day.Version: 1.0.5

YOU NEED THIS!!This is one fantastic synth recreation if you like the retro sounds or you intend to write some amazing power pop EDM :) ENJOY!.Version: 1.0.3

Excellent! The big selling points for this app, as far as my needs go are- a) it’s polyphonic, up to 8 notes, b) there’s a multi-step sequencer that’s easy to use, c) you can tailor the ADSR envelope of notes to your liking, d) it has 250 presets, e) although indeterminate at the time of my purchase, it hooks up to my Akai Synthstation 49, and allows me to play the instrument on a physical keyboard, instead of on the tiny keys the app displays on the iPad screen, and f) also indeterminate at the time of purchase, it can be used as an instrument, through Inter-App Audio (NOT AUV3), in GarageBand. Plus, why buy a $4000 physical instrument, when this does exactly the same thing?.Version: 1.0.5

SuperSons très professionnels..Version: 1.0.5

In GadgetNot showing up in gadget. Why not?😢.Version: 1.0.1

Great sounding synth. Now release it for OS X!This synth sounds really fantastic! I hope you will consider releasing it for desktop and laptop Macs next. I would also like to see a MIDI matrix modulation panel added. Also it is hard to see some of the controls since they are black on a black background. Please consider updating the color scheme slightly..Version: 1.0.4

Go get itWith the option to switch between mono and poly, ASDR controls, LFO modulation on 2 oscillators with six built in effects in addition to the five channel inserts, you can get very sophisticated sounds. With the duophonic feature and a little portamento you can get some wild techno-trance sounding polyrhythmic sounds from outer-space. Odyssei is very similar to the Cubasis Micrologue. Odyssei is very easy on the eyes and gives the listener instant gratification in abundance!.Version: 1.0.0

Amazing synth, needs to be AUv3In my opinion, this is the best sounding synth on the app store. Its audio quality is top tier. However, to be able to use it in my DAWs of choice, it needs to be AUv3, since Inter-App Audio is outdated and doesn't provide a great user experience. Korg, Odyssei is amazing and deserves to be updated. PLEASE update it to AUv3. Regards,.Version: 1.0.6

Phenomenal synthThis is better than the mini moog. Just buy it..Version: 1.0.4

ODYSSEiGreat synth emulation app for ARP Odyssey Mark I-III..Version: 1.0.6

My go-to for iOS synth solosCuts through the mix better than most others..Version: 1.0.4

Amazing!!I grew up with lots of classic rock, so having an affordable version of an ARP is awesome! It's great for 70s classic rock songs like Frankenstein or Tom Sawyer, Fly Like An Eagle, etc etc... I can see it working well for other genres too! One suggestion... please add MIDI learn!.Version: 1.0.3

Great sound…Awesome sounding app but crashes sometimes & we really need Auv3 support!.Version: 1.0.6

Funny reviewsIncredible sounds. Incredible controls. Amazing interface. Another winner from these guys. I just read a review saying the app is great but only worth 3 stars because no midi learn and no double tap to return setting to default. So that genius has to rate every other app as 1 star. You don’t take off a star for every feature you want. The idea is to rate so others can know if the app is good or not. Its not about a way to communicate features that you want. If everyone did what you do then even the best apps would have lousy ratings. If you have a complaint then send email to the developer, don’t screw up the ratings as a way to get features..Version: 1.0.3

Great sound but gadget is lackingGreat sound but can’t use in GarageBand unless there is a sequencer or complete gadget integration. Come on guys, we paid for this.Version: 1.0.3

Ableton linkThis needs Ableton link also I need to be able to use the arpegator inside Gadget and be able to access my saved user settings..Version: 1.0.1

Audio unit pleasePlease make this app an audio unit!.Version: 1.0.3

Is this my new go-to Synth? Probably.I had a friend in London with an absolute arsenal of vintage synths and drum machines in his Studio. The standout being an original whiteface Arp Odyssey. It was instant transport back to the sounds and mood of early Ultravox and Gary Numan. Both huge inspirations growing up. I have been gearing up to purchase the Korg tabletop module then I heard a rumour of fullsize keys. So I put the brakes on the purchase. As soon as this version appeared I was straight in to it. Now after settling in with this fantastic iOS app I a truly confounded. KORG have become the new Roland! They keep doing it right and in spades! I would love to have a dedicated controller for this wee beastie..Version: 1.0.1
