✓ I really wanted to like it…I enjoyed the original a lot, and this does have some improvements and interesting new features. The big sticking point for me is the decreased swimming speed from the original game. Even upgrading it didn’t help, especially with the appearance of reskins of the fast blue fish. Those fish in the original game are a mild annoyance in the first few stages but can be caught without too much trouble. In this game, I made it up until the stage with their blue-gray reskin and, after spending several minutes and several speed upgrades failing to catch enough, deleted the game out of frustration. It also didn’t help that the stickies disappeared before they showed up, so couldn’t even slow them down. I know movement speed seems like a minor point, but it makes the game so much more frustrating. It’s doubly sad for me because I really wanted to like it..Version: 2.6.7
✓ Developers who listenWow...these developers listened to what reviewers left on their original Zen Koi game and made great changes! This is wonderful. I personally would love to see more plant types and greater pond decor or even different ponds to work in that have different prey etc. There just isn’t enough variety to this game. The Trail is a great relaxing game that has endless variety that never loses its soothing gameplay. Zen Koi should take a page out of their book. I love that they added a koi pond for hatched koi to swim in however it isn’t relaxing to look at. The fish swim very fast and it isn't interactive (unless you count adding decor). If the fish had languid body language as they naturally do, then it would be more relaxing to watch and play with. If you could feed them and tap on the water to cause ripples etc, that would be cool. One thing they haven’t done anything about is the outrageous price to open koi slots etc. Other than that, it’s pretty good. It still needs better music variety. While the music isn’t as painful as the last game it would still be nice to have some options. PS I also think it would be more relaxing to watch if the koi fins looked more like decorative koi that have beautiful flowing tails and fins. That’s what I’ve always found attractive and soothing about koi..Version: 2.0.17

✓ Good game appNice relaxing change of pace game, especially if you’re used to playing action oriented mmorpg and pvp genres. It’s perfect for players who like to build, collect, but do not have a lot of spare time. Gameplay is solid, no noticeable game defects. In game ads are nicely done and not intrusive. Overall fun factor is good for the given design. I personally can’t see myself playing more than 2 months, most likely I’ll move on to the next game that catches my eye in the App Store. Hopefully I’m wrong and new features are right around the corner; but we’ll have to wait and see. A few critiques and/or suggestions: 1. The fish fodder is consistently boring. Expanding your pond does not help. After a few runs, you’re wishing for something different for your Koi to eat. Suggestion: Expand the available number of fish fodder type per pond level but randomize which type is available in that level per the current run. Re-skin the fodder. 2. Daily completion rewards should not include friends. If you’re going to include friends - then make it easy to acquire friends in-game. Lol will be going on my second day now where I cannot complete the daily because of this. News Flash: I use Game Center on Apple IOS passively. 3. Dragons are kind of a letdown. ✓ SuggestionsI originally was playing zen koi 1 and was obsessed with it and then they came out with zen koi 2 and I fell in Love! Especially with the playable dragons! I’m so addicted to this game I even got some family and friends to start playing it with me. I find it really easy to get pearls and I love all the patterns. I do wish you’d add new and different prey to eat though, That’s really the only new thing I’d love even more. I can’t get enough of this game. It’s really a great step up from the first one. I love that the new update has the mates on it instead of needing to click the egg!!! It’s a great add in! I really hope you can make it so the prey change or add more prey. I also think it would be cool if some fish could ascend faster than others sometimes? Like maybe some only need to expand the pond three times, or four instead of 8 all the time! I think that would be super cool!! Also maybe if the dragon had to make a certain pattern instead of just making some crazy one on your own, like being lead to the stars you have to do first and creating different patterns the actually look good and cool! ✓ Pretty to look at, not much substanceThe artwork is beautiful and the music gentle and soothing; the only game I’ve downloaded that I’m happy to listen to the music. It reminds me a lot of Feeding Frenzy on the Xbox, only without the frenzy. I’ve had the game 3 days, ascended 13 dragons, got 4 more hatched and 8 eggs. But, it’s the same stuff over and over; eat prey, expand the pond, ascend to dragon, then do it all over again with the next one. Basically it’s just a collect and breed game, albeit with gorgeous graphics and pleasant music. I do suffer from anxiety so hoped it would be helpful but it’s just too repetitive for me. I’m not on Facebook so can’t add friends; so whatever gameplay is added by that is unavailable to me..Version: 2.0.19
✓ No senseThis game is a groom game, but there is a downside to the game. 1. It takes ages to find/catch the animals you eat to evolve into dragons. 2. some of the animals have special abilities and take forever to catch. 3. ✓ Can’t play anymore...It will load about halfway and then say that some files are talking longer to download, and then present the retry button. ✓ Leave this misleading grind-festI was seriously considering sinking money into this game. It is extremely satisfying when you get the koi you need from breeding, by the 3rd day I started playing, I unlocked and ascended all the common inszuma. However, when I got to the rare colors, I discovered the annoyance and difficulty to get the colors you need. It defeats the purpose of this “zen” game. Every time I take a rare fish into the pond, I spend ALL my level points on the rare stat even if it means getting prey is a pain. however, after being stuck trying to get a red/blue inazuma after 12 eggs (you find around 2-3 of the colors you need per full run) with no success (keep in mind my rarity stat is maxed out) I realized I will not enjoy this game that started as pleasant and enjoyable, then turned into every other grind to win game. I would highly suggest not playing this unless you are a masochist who doesn’t mind being forced to grind hours and hours just to get 1 color of a fish. Run away while you can.Version: 2.0.12
✓ Pointless Money GrabI gave this game a try and played for an hour. All I did was chase feeder fish to try and level up my koi. After a short level up period you can start breeding your koi with random matches that appear in your pond. To start you have a very limited number of slots for koi and eggs. And guess what! To increase those slots you need to buy them. Another surprise, the price gets exponentially higher for each one. The meager amount of starter credit doesn’t last. You can complete tasks to earn credits but the ability to complete those tasks is very limited. In the hour I wasted playing I was able to collect ONE quest item (you need 5) so of course I didn’t get the very small reward. Unless you want to throw away your money to collect fish I don’t recommend this game..Version: 2.1.8

✓ I cannot understand this..So once I heard there was a zen koi 2 I immediately downloaded it. I loved the last game, so why not give this one a shot? Shortly after downloading the game, I noticed something. It won’t load all the way! It keeps saying, “Some files are taking longer than usual to download. Please tap retry to reload the game.” Now, I’m pretty a patient person and waited and waited.. but the loading bar is still the same spot! I tried deleting the tab of the game, moved to a better place with WiFi, deleting it to see if it’s better or not, but it will not work! I’m not sure what’s wrong or maybe it’s my phone that the game doesn’t support? Or, I just didn’t wait long enough. ✓ Beautiful but Expensive...First and foremost, the game is gorgeous and very relaxing, and you can easily become addicted to it. However, you are only given three slots for keeping koi at the beginning, and you have to pay to increase the slot numbers with pearls. These pearls are nearly impossible to get in-game (prompted videos only give you ONE!!) I’m only on the fifth slot and it costs 50! The cost increases as you purchase them as well. I think this price is a little absurd and is clearly indicative of a pay-to-win. I don’t see how you can complete a collection without keeping at least one koi of each basic color, which can only be done if you purchase slots (or pay pearls to clone fish you’ve already gotten.) I think it’s reasonable to ask that the price to increase slots be decreased. Otherwise I don’t think this game will hold anyone’s interest for very long, as it gets frustrating having tons of eggs to hatch and nowhere to put the new fish..Version: 2.1.10

✓ Stuck on “Populating Pond”I had this game for soooooo long until I had to downgrade for a while and then finally upgraded to a better phone. I had so many beautiful fishes that I worked hard to get but, not I can’t access anything because it stays stuck on “Populating Pond”. It literally stays on the loading screen.
