IMPC Pro 2 for Positive User Reviews

Love this programI’ve made 4 albums worth of material on this program and I don’t see myself stopping any time soon. The more I learn the better it gets. It was down for a month or two but now that it’s been updated I’m very happy to get back to crafting some full fledged songs with this amazing program..Version: 2.1.3

My first iMPCI've used the hardware but am new to the iPad version. Working my way through the tutorials (iMPC University) and checking out sound packs. It's amazing what this app can do. Finished songs have a very well-produced sound..Version: 2.0.1

Great stuffExpensive but packed with very useful features so totally worth only eating ramen noodles for the next few days. Priorities ey..Version: 2.0.4

SuggestionI’m sure I can get some good music from this app. I like it and would give it a top spot in my workflow. However, the tuner is very difficult to control when adjusting pitch and time for samples. A metric readout along side the tuner would help a lot in nailing your spot when tweaking..Version: 2.1.7

Surprise? The original iMPC Pro I've used for years now. This just appeared out of nowhere. It's like the original app but with a facelift and more compatible with sounds and features, and some UI updates for better workflow. I wish there was a way to import all from v1 or do a full migration without audiocopy but that's an iOS limitation. Blame apple for not having an open file system. And there are *cough* amazing third party tools out there to move folders with sounds so iMPC2 can see them. The structure and user banks is very similar to v1. The midi control is much better... Haven't played with mic inputs. The wav previews are fast no more lag or crashes, Love the color scheme... Only request please give the pitch slider a sticky toggle so i don't need my wej all the time or have to hold my finger on it. I look forward to this new platform. Retronyms is a good group that has always taken care of me. Im the one that went through 3 wej's.Version: 1.0

Seems Same As iMPC ProSo far seems identical to iMPC Pro other than the GUI change. I will have to agree it’s so far about 90% same. If you have iMPC Pro already you may not want to kick out the expensive price..Version: 2.0.1

Screen issues with IPad Pro v2The app is 70% the same as the previous version, really should just be an update instead of a new app. I'm using the iPad Pro version2 12.9, running IOS 10.3.3, and the drum pads are smaller. But love the new features. It's worth the money if you are into using Audio Units to expand your production..Version: 2.0.1

Has potential, but!!!I love the GUI, the library. for the price it needs improvement, us app musicians rely on stable apps and I felt like we’ve been wronged. I’m not writing to bash someone’s hard work, but to stress what I expect for my money. Retronym fell really short again and we can not wait for updates if so we would have paid in installments. Please! less marketing and more productivity. I do use real Akai products and this falls short..Version: 2.0.9

Best music making app on iOSThis is my number one go to tool I use for making my beats now! Been using the iMPC then the Pro and now I’m using the iMPCpro2! This app is endless fun and creativity of awesome ideas you can bring to life. It is a true stand alone DAW!.Version: 2.0.9

Highly recommend for serious idea makingGreat app and love the workflow, use it every day. Got a song w 100k plays I made on here. But wish they would fix a few things: -Presets listed alphabetically or able to change the order. It’s a mess right now for me after making tons of these -Filters knob throws off the adsr when in one shot mode. Can’t low pass and also maintain release time. Just a lil bug. -Audio from AU3’s gets crackly distorted etc on bounces. Running a 2018 iPad Pro and runs great on playback so not sure why bounce and stems can’t hang. Overall love the app and for sure recommend. Just be ready to import your own sounds, packs are pretty meh..Version: 2.1.3

DopeMy only issue is I’m new to iPad production I miss my 2500 but how do I get it to read my record player as a line in I’m running my red and whites to an aux line plug in with the headphone adapter for iPad Pro and it won’t pick up as a line in, what do I need or a setting I can change.Version: 2.1

Yea yea yeaLaviiin it.Version: 2.1.2

GreatUpdate: I've had a couple of issues recently (new user) which have now been explained by the iMPC Pro Team. They’ve been really friendly and helpful, definitely five star support. I think that the layout/workflow is great and am thoroughly enjoying creating with it. Nice app!.Version: 2.1

Awesome composition softwareI love this. I tend to come to IMPC PRO 2 whenever I want to create a soundtrack for a movie I am working on. It’s fun to use and the user interface is easy to learn fast. Definitely recommended..Version: 2.0.9

Ok to me it’s awesome againSo I guess they fixed the problem I mentioned with 3rd party apps. Saw the fix within the app before it showed up on the apple app site. Well again it’s awesome in my opinion. I love this app and use it almost daily for some time. Thankyou.Version: 2.1.3

Super coolThis app has evolved through several generations to the current pro 2 version and it is slick. Yes, we still wish for more app integration such as open in, AudioShare and even Retronym’s (dev) TableTop. This would allow many more possibilities for an already well designed app. The new graphics are awesome, as is the free to download content. Overall really good but a few tweaks here and there would make it so much better..Version: 2.0.1

Pro beat making on the goI love this app I do a lot driving so I’m in my car a lot on my breaks I sit in my car and make beats and plus when an idea comes to my head I can put it down and then open up the project on my Mpc studio black software on my desktop it works seamlessly with MPC 2.0 SOFTWARE A MUST HAVE FOR ANYONE WHO OWNS AN MPC.Version: 2.1.2

IMPC University Not AvailableI deleted my copy of iMPC Pro 2 from my iPad trying to get rid of multiple copies of Pro Pack programs that I had mistakenly created. When I redownloaded iMPC, iMPC University which I had not completed, was no longer available. How do I regain access to this tutorial?.Version: 2.1.2

Fast production toolWhat would make it better would be access to files and more effects per pad..Version: 2.0.9

UPDATEThere’s a bug somewhere... While using my Bluetooth headphones & the recently bought USB-C adapter, the sound is terribly distorted with feedback. There’s also a lot of popping noise. I’ve restarted my iPad 11 Pro twice & got the same results. I quick fix would be highly appreciated & it should reasonably be an easy one... Thanx....Version: 2.1.2

Nearly thereThis is nearly there now. Have iMPC and iMPC pro and now this one, and it’s certainly the best so far. No love for the 12.9 inch iPad pros yet though and the file system could still be improved. Update. The beta does look a lot beta ;) on the large iPad thanks 4.5 stars.Version: 2.0.7

Essential for making tracksAs a long time Retronyms Tabletop and iMPC Pro user I was happy to get onboard. Great workflow. Really appreciate AU instrument plugin support. Truly makes this a full end to end solution for writing songs quickly. Internal FX work well. And of course the chopping to pads is what everyone wants from an MPC. Still haven’t used my MPD 232 controller as I’m just digging cutting tracks. And I must say the folks at Retronyms are very responsive to questions and suggestions. Looking forward to more from this app and potentially Retronyms AU synths? Cheers..Version: 2.0.2

The Best Beat Making AppIMPC Pro 2 has the best sound engine on iOS. I have tried all other apps that are comparable such as, BeatMaker 3, FruityLoops, and Maschine. The only app that has a sound engine as great as iMPC Pro 2 is Garbageband. However, Garageband’s work flow doesn’t come close to iMPC Pro for me. I sample and use a lot of outside apps for melodies I play myself. Try it. Load some drum into iMPC Pro 2 and the same drums in any other app. They won’t sound the same compared to iMPC Pro 2. It’s just crispier. It has the MPC punch to it. The only problem I have with it is the time stretching of samples they become glitchy and stutter when you stretch them and play in different pitches. Not cool at all. I still work around it by not stretching my samples. BeatMaker 3 has you guys beat in that category. Fix it. I read a comment about recording full songs vocal-wise? MPCs aren't made for that. It’s not a Daw. When has it ever been? That’s it. Buy it. One more thing. Getting files into the app is a breeze, and that’s thanks to Apple themselves. You can dump all the sounds you want into your app using files in iOS. iMPC Pro 2 has a folder!!!!!.Version: 2.1

Turns your iPad into a standalone MPC !I own a MPC Studio but I find myself using the iMPC Pro 2 App more. I can do everything that my studio can do and it’s touch screen and a standalone. My only gripe is, it should have came with at least one VST engine. But overall, well worth pennies it cost..Version: 2.0.10

Was good.Akai iMPC Pro (ghost) and iMPC Pro 2 (updates= less functions) used to be a marvel. Now they are becoming like the $2.50 synthstation, that just doesn't have any working order. iMPC is showing a downwards trend. IMPC PRO I/II used to be the best apps, now I'm forced to look elsewhere..Version: 2.1

Great App, but one slight issueLove using this app with the Mk Mini MK3, only issue I am having is the chorus settings on the fx page are all jumbled up on my iPad Pro 12.9 gen 1. The only setting I can change is the rate, and I suspect the control knobs aren’t in the right place. Please fix, as I am a new fan on MPC workflow, but would like to take advantage of the full capabilities of the software. Love the great stuff akai are putting out at the moment..Version: 2.1.3

The new WaveI have been a proud user of the IMPC tools and love creating with these and I'm super excited that the new tool. I am going to record a few songs with this and release them. I hope after long I will be able to contribute to the Retronyms team because being able to work on music on the go on my iPad has been a God send. To all too the people questioning if this app is worth it. Trust me it's worth every dime and look out for Big Reege!.Version: 2.0.2

Awesome! After using iMaschine 2 for some time, really miss those gorgeous colours pads....will have to get used to the dark atmosphere, this app is pretty awesome....love it!.Version: 2.0.10

I Love App BUT PLEASE FIX THIS1st and for most I like to say “I Love this App!!!”. But I have a couple of issues I’m having using iMPC Pro 2.1.. This 1st issue bugs me the most. That would be the random cutting off or choke muting random sounds like I’m running out of polyphony on certain Projects when switching from one Pattern to another. The 2nd issue I have is that the mixer parameters changes with each Pattern. When I put my Project in Song format and make a Volume change or EQ change or EFX Send change for the overall Song it just only make changes to the Pattern that is selected. It always seem like it’s in Automation mode and I wish it a way to turn off this feature. I HATE THIS!!! This is is something you will notice and annoy you when you are splitting your instruments up into multi tracks. Like Kick Track 1, Snare Track 2, Bassline Track 3 etc..... Please investigate this and fix these issues. I’m using an 6 Generation iPad with 128gig of memory. I have 2 feature request and that would be Real-time Sample Time Stretching and Sample Loop Crossfading..Version: 2.1

AutomationI would like to Thank the Developers of the iMPC 2 for pointing me in the right direction about the functionality of the Automation in their product. It is so amazing I can’t stop using this app for my production feels like a complete studio in the palm of my hands..Version: 2.0.2

Pad Size on 12.9 IPad ProI love this software however I am perplexed as to why the size of the pads are so small on the IPad Pro. seems to me that it should up size on the bigger iPad . Its useless unless I can put my fingers on the pads and play them correctly. It is a wonderful beat machine to go on the go producing clicks,Beats,pre-production, however I’m sure bigger pads would yield bigger results.Version: 2.0.6

Great tool just missing a critical thingAs a long time iMPC user I love the direction this is going it. But as an owner of the new iPad Pro 2018 I am pretty disappointed that the UI fails to fill the screen. I’m stuck with the old resolution and a smaller drum pad. I urge your team to make this a priority even more so now because the new iPads are powerful enough to run complete music set ups. MPC is a legendary name and I hope they remain on top of their game..Version: 2.0.9

Merrily making beats.Classic workflow, great community..Version: 2.1.7

Great app and the new update sorts AU3 issuesBit harsh with my last review so it’s rightly been updated. Developers have addressed its current problems with ios14 and I can now load my previous songs. Seems to work well with my novation launchpad as well which is good..Version: 2.1.3

My favorite appEase of use and sample is why I love it. Plus the akai mpc sequencer is second to none. It’s Dope now and will only get better. Def my go to app. Plus the audio units and ability to incorporate the in app function makes it number one for me..Version: 2.0.6

Well worth the moneySo i just purchased impcPro 2 last week for my ipad and i think it’s great except for a few minor things and this could just be me not fully understanding the program yet as i am still figuring things out but the most annoying thing is when i take the time to set up a drum kit on say, track 1. it works great and when i save it and return that drum kit is still there but if i build a drum kit for more than track 1, 2,3,4,5 etc. the kits that i built are never there when i return after a save, i get beats continuum as my default kits and it kills me cause then i have to go build them all over again but like i said except for track 1, it’s always there. am i doing something wrong? is this just not a feature? would be great if it was though and my only other things that would make this absolutely perfect are time stretching and being able to edit and manipulate my tracks right on the track screen. i can’t eliminate or add individual notes at all. again, am i just missing something? when you pair this with garage band , it’s an unfucking stoppable hip hop war machine!.Version: 2.1

BeatMakerDon’t let them fool you. BeatMaker 3 crashes just as much as anything else. The iMPC pro software is more streamlined and efficient. Though iMPC pro isn’t as feature rich, the UI lets creativity flow. There a lot of quarks in beatmaker3 that makes it take longer from ideal to production..Version: 2.0.10

Win My Heart Again like MPC 3000...The interface looks attractive. The loop trigger by1/8th-1/128th in Perform mode is a BEAST... internal sampling, chopping, normalizing and all of the edit features looks well thought out! Almost worth forgiving you guys for taking so long to bring 2.0 to the BIG SCREEN -10.5. I’ve installed about 4gb of libraries in the iMPC Pro 2 app by dragging out the folder in file sharing in iTunes then rewriting it back in and every time I’ve tried to chop a long sample it crashed. Maybe because I dropped and dragged them into the file sharing folder then dropped and dragged it back into the file sharing section as opposed to using AudioCopy. They played just fine but when I tried to chop a sample in iMPC Pro 2 it crashed. I’ve removed all of the uploaded samples and drums and the chopping feature works just fine. I want to add pics to the libraries I’ve installed. Any way I can get them to show up like the iMPC Pro Pack sound purchased libraries? Is there a limitation of how many sounds I can have per folder? Other than that I’d love to integrate with Cubasis 2 or BeatMaker3..Version: 2.0.7

IMPC Pro 2Great versatile tool and a major part of my iOS based production set up.But I’m having a hard time loading samples from AudioCopy I used to see the titles of the sound packs now I just see the related sound pack icon and a lot of the time it’s difficult to find the samples iPad Pro 3rd gen..Version: 2.1.2

Last Update iPadOS Compatible & Everything Works FineI didn’t want to update for fear of losing the only MPC software I use with my Akai MPC midi controller. I know it’s not the developers fault but I have lost many apps that I have purchased not only iOS specific hardware for but the apps on top. Many are going subscription only with outrageous prices for things that don’t need changing. The worry I had was the crashes on older iPad devices which ran versions of IMPC to Pro 1 and then 2 with each one losing the power to keep up. I run the IMPC Pro 2 app on the iPad Pro 12” now with an MPC Element through USB and it has been as close to and as much as I need to using something like the MPC Live. I use the iPad as the central device to make music after shifting from a Mac which I use occasionally. The only thing I really need in my audio apps is the ability to control and link to other apps via midi or mainly Ableton Link now and the ability to use and load my own loops and samples I have collected over the years. This does all that and more and while the file system is not the best compared with other apps I can still get the files from my collection loaded. I don’t use Spotify or anything so I can’t comment on it but as far as it being an MPC it is more useful than the Live to me as I have a variety of USB sound cards which replicate midi and audio in / out and combined with the MPC Element I have the pads, sounds and devices to rival that of a hardware only MPC which for me would be more difficult to use with my iPad setup as it is. I really think that this app mixed with the right hardware rivals that of the more expensive units. Depending on your workflow you may disagree but I am able to say the update works with iPadOS, the midi is working and the exporting is something that is easier than it used to be although I have yet to use the Mac software it is meant to be compatible with everything you create here meaning you can use more complex DAWs to finish anything up although I haven’t needed to use the Mac much and when I have it was synced via Ableton Link which was controlling my turntables. Now I know I am using it with a midi MPC pad controller rather than just the app which changes things a bit but I think it’s not much different than the touch screen but I recommend a controller that has the pads familiar to MPC users. The one I have can be purchased for such a small amount and is ideal for the app I can’t help but compare it to the other MPC hardware I’ve used and they don’t have the ease of use and ability to quickly switch apps or use different apps all synced together. Even FX modules for example, if you have an iPad already the cost of making it work on the scale of the Live is minimal and the connectivity is infinitely better. Lastly I have been in touch with the support team before and they replied and they were as helpful as possible. I don’t know if they are always as good but I can only go by my experience which was good. So just to confirm and let people know that they can update if they have iPadOS. The other reviews didn’t mention that and I wanted to make sure people were aware that the update didn’t have any hidden subscriptions or anything that wasn’t compatible..Version: 2.1

Useless and crashesAttempting to get a real use of this App but I really got frustration seeing how many crashes it has as well as other issues. For instance, when you have a track with some data on it and you want to delete it, if that track is the first one and only one in your song, even when asking if you want to confirm deletion, it doesn’t delete it. If you add a new empty track, then select the first one for deletion, it asks for confirmation for 2 track, instead of the 1 that I selected. Some sounds playback produces unexpected noise or cut. I’m running on IPad Prod 9” 128Gb When attempting to load sounds (by the way so complicated and confused) with AudioPaste, when selecting, yes add all sounds to Library, crashes the App 2/3 times. When you want to save your Program, it doesn’t allow to rename the existing one created. Even worst, if you slide the finger from the right where the Delete button appears to delete the Program, it does nothing. Definitely it looks to me that this App is not fully tested before being published. I’ve invested money not only in this App but also with some SoundPacks and at the end, I’m still not able to use it in a useful manner. A real disaster...and frustration..Version: 2.0.7

Oh Yeah, Spotify Sampler! You really need this app. Buy it, period. 😀👍.Version: 2.1.3
