The Elder Scrolls: Blades for Negative User Reviews

Visually appealing, but a disappointing cash grabLike others have noted, the visuals and controls are very appealing, especially for a mobile game. Unfortunately, the game mechanics are clearly skewed to “encourage” the player to spend an ever increasing amount of real money. Yes, you can play slowly and collect the daily rewards without spending money, but that method basically breaks the game’s experience and enjoyment - especially after level 12 or 15, when the damage taken, and the cost of repairs (and health potions, and resurrection scrolls, and ingredients, and structure building), greatly exceeds the amount of gold or gems that you get for a quest or job. It’s a more elegant and refined version of the recent “loot box” problem. For context, I have played Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim for about 25 years now - and I was eagerly awaiting the next iteration. I would have easily paid $20~$30 for Blades as a means to support the developers. However, this current “free” version is a hot mess of a cash grab, and it has seriously made me rethink whether or not I will purchase the next Elder Scrolls game when it is released. Edit for the recent update: This ‘game’ is even more of a cash grab than it was before. The Sigil levels are designed to burn through your health and elemental potions, costly repairs, and have you spend even more money. (Editing review to see Dev response).Version: 1.23

Pay to winI’ve played about 30 minutes so far and already I can see it is clearly a pay to win game. Buying gems to unlock chests. Gem bags with decent amount of gems being more than a AAA rated game on a console. Overall for a game on a mobile device it is well developed. The graphics are good, the controls are good once you get used to it. They have put in just enough to make it feel like elder scrolls but left out the tedious part that would make it hard to play on a mobile device. I played it on the 10.5 iPad Pro. My battery drained fairly quickly. So I doubt you could play it for long on a phone. For now I’ll continue to play put if the pay to win tightens the gameplay, I’ll stop. I would prefer it, if Bethesda just charged a one off amount for a compete open game. I would happily pay $50 outright..Version: 1.0.2

The game won’t workHey developers. I have IPhone6 and it says works on this IPhone but when I try to play wont let me in the app crashes. Can u fix this game. I really would like to play the game..Version: 1.2.0

Decent Pass-time but lackingKeeping this review short and sweet, the game itself is enjoyable and offers a smooth progressive system in which to advance. Some elements are repetitive but the overall item progressional system makes early levels feel rewarding. Despite this the game fails to reach a wide market through a lack of graphic settings to facilitate more users experience. On an Iphone X I find after 15-20 minutes of playing the game there seems to be a ram leak issue where the fps drops and the game becomes unplayable, something i experience on no other game. Despite this, having a simple graphic setting menu would allow for tinkering and possible correction. Each time this occurs i have to force close the app and re open for the issue to reoccur some few minutes later. It seems to occur more frequently against the lich mobs when spells are being spammed. Once the leak occurs it maintains until closed making the game umplayable..Version: 1.8.1

Arena brokenAll you play against is stupid Russians who lag like no one’s business and make the game very frustrating. Rest of the game is fun.Version: 1.16

Game doesn’t workHey all I’ve got an iPhone 6 and this game doesn’t work. Under the info at the bottom of the App Store page it says his game is compatible but after ages on the loading screen it says this doesn’t run on this device. I know if it doesn’t work it doesn’t work but would have just like the truth on the App Store instead, cheers. Rusty.Version: 1.6.3

Sad.You start out thinking your going to be playing an elder scrolls game and it looks great! Three hours in however you realize your playing just as much of a repetitive pay to win title as tap tap hero’s. So sad to see Bethesda go down this road... I really wanted to like this game. I had faith, I hoped at least that pay to win would be a secondary feature that it was possible to progress without. Unfortunately it’s simply not the case. One extra star for the graphics as it is beautiful. Unfortunately as gaming companies should have learned by now a beautiful game does not equal a fun game in any way shape or form..Version: 1.1.0

Has so much potential..Cool concept but it’s so frustrating in terms of grinding 🙄 to get further in the game you have to do really, really repetitive quests to get materials to rebuild this town. And when you get chests, you have to wait ages to even open them...starting with wooden which is 5 secs, silver which is 1 hour, gold which is 6 HOURS. Cannot begin to imagine the wait for elder or legendary chests! Can be sped up with “gems” even though you have gold as well. But guess how you get them? Your money or the rare, occasional 2-4 you MAY get on difficult quests (speeding up can cost over 100 gems). Also not a bethesda game without bugs. So in all, the waiting to get anywhere and the repetitiveness (not to mention that you can’t be a rogue - i.e no bows or dual wielding) makes this game get boring quickly. Not motivated to play often simply because of the grind. Also pretty much just Skyrim again in terms of mechanics and models. I wish iOS games would be made for entertainment or even as a thank you to fans, instead of cash grabbing. But money rules this world now..Version: 1.3.0

Fix itThis game has great potential but it’s not there yet , I have been playing a couple of days now and I’ve noticed that it’s very hard to continue with out paying money as far as graphics go it’s wonderful but it still lags and glitches a lot , the thing that bothers me is that I was on a level that 4/5 skill and that’s not that hard but I killed 4 troll who had hit/attacked a lot more than the last but even though I have a full bar of health I some how die from two hits?, not to mention almost every time I tried to hit a button to use my magic or my abilities it wouldn’t let me , the game has so much potential but what bothers me is you have to pay to win . The features I wish they would add are some of the simple ones that I think would make a really big difference and let the player enjoy the game more , like being able to carry around food that would be awesome one level I only had two things to eat and ultimately ended up losing , I wish you could find more building materials sometimes if I’m luck I could get like 3 maybe 4 on a quest or job , I also feel they could maybe allow followers that would be cool but this game has a lot of potential. Thanks for making a game like this for the phone but I hope to see you improve it in the future I wouldn’t mind if you had to pay like 10 bucks for a full game like Skyrim kinda rather than pay like 100+ to get what I need to complete a level then ultimately pay more plus some in the future..Version: 1.0.2

DisappointedI’ve spend 100 to this game and deleted it just for few days. Because this group has fully trap in “money”. Players have no chance without money..Version: 1.7

Good game poisoned by greedIf you rely look at this game for what it is you will realise you are getting ripped of brutally if you pay money, compared to let’s say oblivion or any of the other console versions were you get a content packed adventure for around $50. All you get with this is a couple of different tunnels that repeat themselves clunky game play and algorithms that adapt to make you pay to progress in the game. I personally only spent $3 on this game before I realised this game will try rob me until my pockets are empty. These nerds are the type to rob a little kid of his pocket money every day! 🤟.Version: 1.8.1

My opinion for Elder Scrolls:BladesFor me I’m used to explore the world and it’s crashing every time I killed an enemy either it I redo the battle again or in a middle of a battle..Version: 1.5.1

UnfortunateA franchise like the elder scroll games carries a legacy with it. Every time an elder scrolls game is praised by the community its legacy becomes more renowned and vise versa. Gives me the sick feeling that once Bethesda is finally done damaging their own legacy, will it even be fun to play the good games? first 1 star ive ever given. -Hunter Christian Smith.Version: 1.4

Cant open the gameSince last update i cant open my app..it closes itself...Version: 1.7.1

A massive disappointmentHonestly, I’d love to write a scathing review for this game, but I really can’t be bothered to anymore. All I’ll say is that Bethesda isn’t the game studio that I once knew, and their micro transactions are becoming more of a hinderance than anything else. It’s reflected perfectly in this game, and FO76. It just goes to show how low a game studio can sink.Version: 1.0.2

So much potentialGraphics are amazing for a mobile platform, and the combat is genuinely satisfying, rewarding tactical use of abilities and those times when you just need to decimate a goblin with a War axe. As a long time fan of the franchise I was so pleased with how well most elements of the games were transposed to the mobile game. Sadly after about level 20 the grind machine kicks in and the difficulty of enemies and quests increases disproportionately to the ‘power’ of your character. The developers have obviously done this to make the chests you can buy a must have, I have no major issue with this as they need to make money, but the whole thing needs some finesse applying. Presently the amount you need to spend means the game is not value for money compared with fully fledged PC and console games. There are also some stability issues with the game, it currently crashes immediately after I kill anything (it’s not the hardware and I’ve done all of the fixes) making it unplayable for me at present..Version: 1.5.1

Work still needing to be doneComing from a massive ES Fan.. Just a few things more need to be done before I’m willing to give Blades a 5 star rating. Every time I get a notification for “your weekly free gold chest is ready” and I log in, there is no free chest! When this keeps repeating it leaves a feeling of being opportunistic ally played upon. When it happened last night I immediately quit the app out of frustration and it immediately sent me another notification “you forgot to open your free gold chest” so I logged back in straight away thinking it had rectified itself,.. boy did I feel stupid when it wasn’t there! Short of this I love the game as I do all Elder Scrolls. The only other thing this needs is to be able to make your own house and lay out the inside, so you can display all of your loot. Maybe a couple of differentiated bosses would be great, that drop trophies that you can display in your house.Version: 1.1.0

It’s good but lacking...Good graphics, story, menu interface and maps and a really fun concept. This game has considerable time and effort put into it and it’s good. My one large complaint with this game, and the reason I gave it only three stars, is that the UI when fighting and moving is not good, it’s not terrible but it’s not great. The joystick movement is slow and a bit clunky, and the camera feels very zoomed in, a game like Pascals Wager, PUBG or Critical Ops are the kind of joystick and combat controls that work best, they are receptive, easy to use and the general standard for mobile games. These exemplar game control systems have the best alignment for mobile gaming. I understand that the slashing mechanic of this game and static combat is meant to be it’s own idea but to be honest I don’t enjoy it, moving, dynamic combat would be better, just like In games like Pascals Wager. Dynamic combat like that opens up multiplayer options, more then just one on one combat and a better experience. The movement controls tie into this, there is odd sensitivity and movement on the touch controls, buttons in odd places. I’m not going to go in depth into the exact specifications of what kind of changes to the touch controls I am talking about would be but my example good UI games listed above are the best example of what I mean. Some probably don’t share my opinion but as an experienced mobile gamer this is what I think..Version: 1.7.2

It’s like playing a compact SkyrimThe dungeon levels are very repetitive. All the quests and jobs come up with interesting names for different locales, but you end up exploring the exact same castle/cave/forest that you explored a hundred times already, and this makes it boring. Hopefully new environments will be added with later updates to keep things more fresh and interesting. Building houses and crafting items is more realistic than skyrim because you have to actually wait for them to be finished instead of just choosing to build or craft something and have it instantly. It’s a shame there aren’t more activities to do in town, like drink at a tavern or have an optional garden to grow herbs in or something. It also seems silly to be collecting lumber wood during quests and finding it in pots. It should be something we can buy or earn from woodcutters. Hoping more improvements will be added soon..Version: 1.5

The epitome of GREED & wasted potential.Graphics: Excellent Sound: Immersive Combat: Repetitive Storyline: Underwhelming Progression: Microtransaction Loot System: Embarassing Waited over a year for this game, pushed myself to play it for a full week before accepting that it genuinely felt like a chore. I procrastinated playing this game by doing the dishes. How Bethesda can screw up this is beyond me, thousands of players would pay a lot of money each month on micro transactions for a good game that wasn’t forcing them down our throats at every turn. Save your time and bypass this abomination of a app..Version: 1.0.2

Awesome graphics, good combat, pay to play and pay a lotLet's start with negatives, pay to win is obvious but in this game after you progress a bit it's going in to pay to play as you can't earn gold to do anything usually it's a challenge to figure out how to do any mission in the way that will give you more gold then you need to repair your gear. In addition to that every update was focused to patch every possible way of earning gold without spending £££. There is no way to play it as a small spender as 20£ is good for day or two, they removed artefacts from the store that cost around 10£ and allow you to progress for days, now you can only gamble for 25£ per loot box that can or can not give you anything useful. Now positives. Graphics are awesome it's truly looks good. Combat is really satisfying. A lot of weapons, nice crafting system. Main story and campaign is good as for mobile game. My final rating is only 2 star because even tho it's good game, it's not worth ridiculous amount of money to play it for more then early lvls. For 60£ you can buy any AAA game on console or PC, here 60£ will last you maybe a week if you spend it well. Additionally when you spend money you feel really bad about it as whatever your plan will be very next patch will make it useless and you will need to spend money again, such a basic thing as character respec cost 11£, and 25£ loot box can give you nothing for your class..Version: 1.0.2

BoringSeveral years on from release & this game gets no love from the developers. Once you finish the very short lived main quest it’s just the same boring daily quests for the same measly rewards. No new story lines, no new characters, no new content really since the occasional event thing was added, which is just the same boring quests under a different name. Such a shame that this trades under the guise of elder scrolls when it’s a paltry arcade version of something vaguely based on elder scrolls lore. Game play? Forget about it. What a missed opportunity for a real, open world, regularly updated game that would actually be worth paying for. Update : today I received a response from the developers, to the review I posted maybe 2 years ago. They asked for feedback. Here it is … sorry, I stopped playing the game 2 years ago. If you genuinely wanted to get feedback about mechanics or gameplay then perhaps you ought to have contacted me sooner. I’m adding this to the review so that others can see the real deal before they spend any money here. Shame on you Bethesda, you could have done so much here but instead you focused on the short game, the money grab & I doubt it’s working out for you. Maybe next time you might consider making a gaming experience that generates money because people love it, not because they were forced into spending some cash to find out that this game is as shallow as a bath for budgies.Version: 1.23

A little disappointedThis game is actually pretty good and very pretty. The combat is actually a little less clunky than Skyrim somehow, but also really slow. I know it’s a mobile game so I’m willing to forgive that, but you can’t move while you fight, which I don’t fully understand. The reason I’m only giving this 3 stars is the network issues. You’d think that Bethesda would have learned from fallout 76 that a always connected game is garbage, but it is mobile and therefore a cash grab. They always want to offer you things in the store, even during single player quests, so you always have to be connected. I have a few spots I like to play games that don’t have the best connection, like the subway and I can’t play this one at all. I miss my gameboy, where the whole game was right there to play and enjoy, we just don’t get that anymore because of online shops. It’s just sad because this could be a really fun game, but I’ll probably get bored with all the waiting for loading so I’m probably not going to bother spending anything on it. All the stuff you buy is just for materials and gear that you could get from rewards for the quests, but you can’t do the quests unless you have a great connection. I even got dropped from a quest because of a weak connection and lost 5 gems (the premium currency). Give me an offline mode and I’ll probably continue playing. At least there are no ads..Version: 1.0.3

Matchmaking is annoying and menu interfaceHonestly, I’m getting tired of the matchmaking balancing. I’m sick of facing other players who just keep dominating me every round. For a level 7 going up against a level 20, obviously this is a one sided battle, but it keeps matching me with super high levels. And it doesn’t help that I match against people who are on a different server and I lose because of the latency and lag (attacks and block are delayed so I get hit regardless if my block is up, as well as charging up a normal attack is delayed).. not fun anymore And now I have a problem with the town interface.. there are no quest markers, no menu, no exclamation marks to tap on, cannot access the quest and challenges tab because it ain’t there, forcing me to close the game, open it, wait for 2 minutes to get to the main menu, do a mission, complete it, go to town and I’m stuck there. I actually sort of like this game as iv already spent $15 on here.. game has soo much potential. Amazing game n graphics, but interface and matchmaking is starting to annoy me.Version: 1.7.1

Worse with every updateIn December of last year this was a fun game... but it’s not anymore. Blades is a game where there is one way to play, and that is whatever way the devs like best. Want to be sneaky, well you can’t. Want to use a bow, well you can’t. Want to use light weapons? You can! But they are not fast enough that you get extra attacks out of them, and you can’t dual wield, so you just do less damage. Serves you right for trying to have fun your way instead of the “right way”! Recent changes to the magic system have made elemental attacks so powerful that unless you are wearing the exact right armor for the element you are being attacked with, you will be dead in 2-3 moves. Did I mention that even goblins can cast spells from multiple elemental schools? Yeah. You just need to wear all the “correct” sets of armor... at the same time. Which is impossible. Or! You could play a spell caster, which is currently the “correct “ way to play. Before that it was two handed weapons. Essentially, with every update, your real choices get stripped of meaning, and fun slowly dies. I used to love this game, I really did. But there is increasingly less focus on letting players try things, have fun, and play their game; and an ever narrower focus on forcing players to play the way they are told. I used to recommend this game to everyone. Now I can’t think of anyone who would enjoy it over the long haul..Version: 1.8.2

Doesn’t workDoesn’t work... iPhone 6.Version: 1.29

Arena is unfairI’m by no means a gamer, but I love this particular game to bits! It’s beautiful and smooth, and as long as you’re saving more coins/gems than you spend (which isn’t really so difficult), you can definitely get by without having to pay actual money. HOWEVER, the Arena is a total letdown. It’s lots of fun when you can *win* some of your matches, but the chances of getting an opponent you actually have a chance against are horrific. For every seven matches I play, I get six against people who are 10+ levels above me with significantly better gear. The matchmaking algorithm seems arbitrary at best, and rigged at worst. I end up having to stand and wait to get killed, because no matter what I try I get flattened either way, and conceding costs more trophies than losing. It also quickly becomes expensive, as you have to constantly repair your equipment, and the only way to make any kind of profit from the Arena is to consistently win. Very, very disappointed because there is so much potential for the Arena to be fun. While I recommend playing Blades anyway, I advise against playing in the Arena - at least until the matchmaking is more fair!.Version: 1.14

Great game, poor crashesI've played and enjoyed this from the start, progressed to the "just maintenance" stage while only paying a small sum very occasionally and now, never. I play almost every day. However, in the last year or so the game started crashing - not occasionally, but every single time I play, and not once but several times a session. Nothing else is open, and my iPad runs everything else without a hitch. I can be visiting the blacksmith, selling some goods, tempering equipment, opening the store… during the transitions is when the crashes occur. Recently, I've just started quitting and leaving the game on the first or second crash rather than waiting for a lengthy restart. I'm not an exception, it seems to be an issue for many, judging by the Blades Reddit thread, and not really taken seriously enough. without crashes? full stars. With crashes? 1-3 stars ( I was generous with my latest rating)..Version: 1.14

Has potentialThis game has a lot of potential due to its amazing graphics, fighting mechanics and town builder but fails due to long timers and a very ungenerous material grinding system and lack of storage space. Its so stingy that you will either spend real money or constantly do inventory management rather than grind the dungeons..Version: 1.1.0

AmazingThis is an amazing mobile game, I think this is a great comeback for Bethesda after fallout 76. The game has addictive gameplay town building and fighting mechanics that will make you want to check on your chest every few hours. All these people complaining about chests in particular silver chests (which is an issue I’m experience in beta) is because they have poor chest management, it’s them not the game. The only things I would address is the ability system they are mostly active skills which are too many they need to include more passives. Also I would like copper to be more available as this is essential for town building. To be clear you don’t need to pay to win I have received almost 300 game currency for playing the game free. Thanks for the great game. Update: Game is bit of a grind, rewards don’t scale well with lvl or progression. I find myself playing it less frequent. Building resources are hard to come by and bored of the job reruns..Version: 1.0.2

Good game, but don’t bother. It’s too buggyI wish I could give a good review of this game, I truly do. I love the gameplay, the story and feel this would be a worthy addition to the ElderScrolls series. If only it didn’t crash so much. I don’t play this game all that much, but every time I do, it will without fail crash up to 3 times in any given hour on my IOS device that is in the supported device list. Bethesda has provided a “help page”, however none of the suggestions are any good, it’s just a terribly unstable game and is simply not worth playing just yet. It also poorly recovers from crashes, a common bug seems to be the game crashing at the end of ranked pvp matches if you win, and it resolves with giving you a loss..Version: 1.5.2

Addictively terribleThis is a terrible game - stars off easy, letting you think you’ll win quite a lot of levels... then it goes rip-off crazy . You get untold missions which you will never be strong enough at that time to complete without buying crap. You get three or so enemies in then you meet one who seems to be 5x faster and more destructive than the others EXATCLY the same on that level and you’re out. Then you get the two star missions that say “yeah come on in, this’ll be easy” , except the opponents seem to consistently faster and better armoured than your character - no matter how much tempering or enchanting nonsense you do. It’s seriously lost it’s fun factor - it leaves you (me) feeling irate and duped after each session now. Considering just deleting it , myself. Of course , they do give you plenty of options to spend REAL money on completing these levels ... of course..Version: 1.8.2

DEVELOPERS PLEASE CONSIDER - I’m Torn... pay to play makes me sadUndoubtedly a great game, I played a few days and loved it on my mobile/iPad ... but, like all pay to play games there quickly comes a point that you need to pay lots to keep going. Dungeons quickly got too difficult to survive, you have to wait ages to unlock chests, missions become repetitive, there’s no story to draw you in... like all pay to play, there’s just no incentive to pick it up and play now which makes me incredibly sad having played oblivion and Skyrim over and over. Developers - you have the making of something special. I’d happily pay an up front price to play something immersive and similar to the original elder scrolls series, but paying loads just to keep going with repetitive tasks under the elder scrolls name really makes me sad :( be transformative like the original elder scrolls - make this the first console quality immersive experience for a mobile world that doesn’t follow everyone else’s pricing strategy... set a trend, don’t conform!.Version: 1.0.3

Pay to winGraphics: amazing Gameplay: amazing Combat: good Music: great Menus and hud animations: perfect Except you have to pay money to progress unless you want to spend your whole life playing this game. Why couldn’t you pay REAL money for cool weopons and armour which have different effects?? This game feels like it’s part of the Skyrim series but the micro transactions hold it back..Version: 1.6.3

Worst gameThis game is so pay to win and the 1v1 combat is so bad all it is, is you starring at your opponent and throwing spells and blocking until your enemy power attacks. And for me since I don’t live in America or Europe my ping makes everything worst..Version: 1.5.1

Unenjoyable reward structureWhile Blades provides some level of satisfying dungeon crawler gameplay with the combat, earning the rewards is not at all a fun experience. Being unable to open any of the chests I find during a dungeon run because I have a 1 or 6 hour timer running on opening a better chest is disappointing. The changes to silver chests have helped with the bloat on chest capacity, minorly, but requires that I spend more time worrying about timers. Collecting the variety of materials needed to construct buildings, craft weapons and armor, or potions is dull as it is either through chests or jobs, the repeatable grind of side-missions. The main quest does provide needed materials early on, but is hardly a reliable source later. Blades feels most like a lootbox collector, and the result is that the moderately enjoyable gameplay lost its value once I felt like I was stuck in a pointless loop. Do a quest or a job, collect chests and sparse materials, open chests and/or spend materials on crafting or building, repair and repeat. The ultimate goal of that cycle is to... enable the continuation of that cycle, but with better gear and buildings to provide you with the game’s RPG mechanics. Many games do this, Blades has done it poorly if it has made me so painfully aware of its gameplay loop without offering something of substance. Perhaps its a limitation of conventional mobile game design, which is a shame, because the hardware can handle much more than the standard..Version: 1.0.2

Update? My phone doesn’t even support it, I need a new IPhone to play, if you have a iPhone 6 or lower you can’t play, I don’t know about the other IPhones but I’m kinda disappointed. I love Skyrim and want to play the mobile version (tho its a different storyline) and I can’t. Sad..Version: 1.7

Technically great but gameplay is lackingGreat graphics but just let down by repetitive, simplistic gameplay and lack of any real substance. The graphics are superb. Fluid movement, good controls, all starts off very promising. The sheen wears off once you understand what the game wants you to do. It seems to want you to rebuild the city. To do that, you need resources. To get them, you do little missions (available from a menu) which require almost no skill. It’s the same basic mission over and over again with some slightly different maps / dungeon settings. There is no variety to be found here. The mission layout is tiny and you need to do them over and over to get enough lumber or whatever to rebuild houses in the city. I have no idea why I’m doing this because the houses just look better than rubble but don’t offer anything to the player. I can’t even get hooked enough to want to spend money on the expensive in app purchases! Why?! After playing for a few hours I am thoroughly bored and contemplating deletion. What a shame. I really wanted to like it..Version: 1.0.2

Loading.Unfortunately, despite several hours later, the problem of loading the game is still not solved. But the Diablo game loads very well and fast! Good customer service!!! Persistent problem, and no feedback from customer service.😡.Version: 1.31

Good but too Grind HeavyI love the game, however more open world aspects should be involved. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great already considering it’s an ES game on a mobile device, but it’s too grind heavy in order to progress within the game If open world was brought into the game i feel as if this would reduce the “annoying” sense you get when doing 10 jobs over and over to get enough to build half a house or to even get half the experience needed to get to the next quest without it being too frustrating to the point you don’t want to play for a while My town is only level 4 and i’m only level 15 myself so I don’t know what is yet to come, but so far I can see it’s a great game but doesn’t have the true ES feel i was really looking for. I’ll continue to play the game without a doubt but feel as if this should be considered to make the game more enjoyable..Version: 1.0.3

Could have been greatThe idea of the game is great, but the prime focus appears to be for the developer to get PAYG funds, rather than player enjoyment of the game. Early levels are satisfying, but as you get further into the game you cannot beat enemies or complete missions. You would have to spend cash, and lots of it to make your character strong enough. There is just no joy, rather just frustration, at having your character constantly thrashed. I try a few levels, then turn on my PC and play Skyrim GOTY edition instead. Much more satisfying, and cheaper. Could have been a great game if focus was on players, and not solely on the cash..Version: 1.6.2

Okay. But gets very boring quickly.I think the developers have done a smashing job to really capture the user and make them feel like they are playing elder scrolls. Pretty amazing graphics for a mobile game and it's pretty smooth! That being said I felt like I was just constantly jumping between three of the same environments, the town, some dungeon and a trail of grass and shrubs. At first I was incredibly blown away by the graphics and the idea but I think the lack of an open world takes away from this game. This game has so much potential so I was left a little disappointed. I also think games shouldn’t encourage you to pay for extra things. It pretty tacky. It should be good enough to earn coins and be able to use them without having to touch your actual pocket for anything else..Version: 1.6.3

Very, very repetitive but ok in small dosesThis game looks good but, sadly, becomes boring very quickly. All you do is stand in the town and get given a quest that you just teleport to that has exactly the same interior as the previous quest and the one before that – they only seem to have about three different locations. After a while you can’t do the quest they give you because it’s too hard and that means you have to run around and kill goblins or some other crap endlessly -in the same dungeon- to try to level up. The game is also completely shallow in other ways as you cannot attack an enemy unless you are right next to it at which point you can cast one of three spells/skills or just swipe your sword. Yawn. Healing is next to impossible because you don’t find any healing potions and so you just die very quickly in a harder quest. There is no ranged combat or sneaking or any kind of tactics whatsoever and no freedom of exploration. The main premise of the game of rebuilding your town is also completely tedious. Collect a stupid amount of a certain good and then you might be able to build another house or something. There is no incentive to do this whatsoever. Then of course there is the stupid nonsense with the chests but there’s no point going into that again. So disappointing when I was expecting an open world game of some description but this is a tightly closed, repetitive chore with about three locations..Version: 1.0.2

Crashes on IpadStarted off fun, but game repeatedly crashes on Ipad. No updates for over a week now. Tried all the usual things of making sure ipad and the game was up to date, but still crashes. So now trying reinstalling, but not convinced my account has been saved to bethesda , so if it hasn’t I won’t bother again as already spent money on it. won’t waste anymore on a game that doesn’t work! surfed net for more info and some sites say it wont work on IOS , so why does it state it does and take money if the developers haven’t made it compatible with IOS? makes no sense and just creates annnoyed customers. The other thing I don’t like is that it’s too easy to die even on LOW level quests! which forces you to either abandon the quest OR spend cash on getting extra lives. Low level quests SHOULD mean just that, but they are way too hard which leaves you no way to level up faster or win better equipment. which just makes it boring after a while..Version: 1.7.3

(***ROBBED***) (***MUST READ IMPORTANT***)(***ROBBED***)LEGENDARY CHEST & MATERIAL CARRIAGE THAT I (***PAYED***)FOR AND CUSTOMER SERVICE WONT HELP ME Customer service in non existent. I’ve spent over 700$ because I work so much and have no time to grind. Over the 30 legendary chest I’ve boughten 1 of them I did not receive. The game crashed as it took my gems and the chest didn't have the time it needed to open. I did not receive any items and i very easily noticed my gems where gone. Customer service message me back so I guess they are existent, but Kym said she had checked all the legendary chests I’ve bought and told me I’ve received all my items. Like why would someone that has enough money to put 700 $ into a game lie about one chest. Apparently it doesn’t show errors on non received items. The second time I was robbed was when I hit level 9 for my town. An offer of am material carriage popped up for 2000 gems. Same thing bought it and instantly crashed. Logged into my game I had not received any material or gold and 2000 gems were missing. I went from 5000 to 3000. Pretty obvious. What do I have to do video tape the glitch or error. Every chest record so I have proof. I bet even if I did that and had proof they would not reimburse me. This has got to be the most unfair game ever where a customer could pay up close to the thousands and plan on spending another 1000 along with getting there friends that have money just like the victim into this game making them thousands and thousands of dollars and they still wouldn’t care to reimburse and fix the problem with something that doesn’t even cost them money because it’s gems in the game. Or items in a video game. Wouldn’t cost the any money at all to fix a unfair issue that could possible make them thousands of dollars has to be the definition of a broken game. If my problem was somehow fixed, I would gladly rewrite my review 5 stars as I love this game and this is the only reason I’m rating it 1 star..Version: 1.3.1

BugGot a bug, sometimes if you choose explore after finishing a quest it looses the progress and you have no choice but to exit to town and forfeit quest..Version: 1.4.1

It’s good but...I’ve been playing blades for a few weeks now.. not constantly mind you but consistent enough to get the daily awards most of the time. To be honest I wasn’t expecting much from this game but it is surprisingly fun. The combat mechanics albeit simple works although it can feel a bit clunky at time’s. My main gripe about this game is that it wants you to pay for it desperately.. wants you to buy gems.. you can’t craft, temper or brew a potion a whole lot without spending a lot of gems.. you can temper items one at a time but then u have to wait hour later for it to finish and if u want it completed straight away u have to pay for it by using gems and u only get a limited amount of them. It doesn’t work in a game like this. You want your players to be able to craft and brew potion without having some sort of limiter. It just makes it very frustrating and I feel like deleting it sometimes cause it’s such an obvious money cash grab..Version: 1.6.3

Glitched waste of time. This was a huge disappointment and waste of my time and effort to download. The App Store says that the game is compatible with my device (iPad Air), but once I downloaded the game it and it loaded it displayed a splash screen saying that my device was incompatible. My iPad isn’t broken, and the software is up to date (iOS 12.4.6). I was really looking forward to playing Blades. There’s no excuse for this..Version: 1.7

Love this game butSick of it crashing every few minutes.Version: 1.11

System keep lackingNot recommend on this game do not push it or download at all !!!!!! I’m so sick of this game now been trying everything Been update do everything just to play this game been pushed a lot still lacking may need a refund or some thing I’m not suggest this game at all I don’t know what to do right now I’m trying here in the idea I have been through all the rating of your saver I try everything.Version: 1.9.0

Game won’t loadDownloaded to try it out, won’t get passed the loading screen. At first I got an error saying “we can not retrieve your character at the moment. Please try again later.” First time playing so don’t have a character yet as far as I know lol, now it just won’t go passed loading screen. Oh well, one less mobile game to worry about!.Version: 1.7

BrokenCan’t even make a character just crashes every single time I try ..Version: 1.9.0

Conflicting info about compatible devicesI love the elder scrolls so I decided to try playing and even checked to see if it would work bc both my phone and iPad are older models. The App Store information lists them both as compatible but upon downloading the game and trying to start it I was told neither were compatible which is apparently stated at the bottom of the description under a read more. If a game isn’t compatible with a device don’t list it as compatible.Version: 1.7.3

Devs look sharpBest mobile phone game I ever played, no joke. 5 stars if not for these issues. What really agitates me is devs doing a half assed job. I love elder scrolls games and blades too but it crashes frequently, even after redownloading. In fact I’m writing this review because my game just crashed mid quest and I lost 10 potions of healing used to clear the level. BANG game crashes and I lose all the potions I painstakingly collected and brewed to use on a quest which is no longer available either. New main quest line needs to be updated and arena needs to be revamped in terms of rewards (a silver chest as a reward for 8 round wins is demoralising after 1000+ trophy rating). Abyss floors is pathetic and needs to be reworked, (comparing to the other two game modes, which are quest and pvp, it is so inefficient to spend time in it). In short, sort the crashes out, give rewards to f2p and expand the game. Edit: new update has disabled the arena meaning a game is found but does not proceed to the match..Version: 1.6.3

Entertaining and fun, but money grabThis is a fun RPG for mobile but this game will just about force the player into spending actual money to continue your positive experience. I’m level 25 and I have had no issues, up until this point. After playing for about 2 weeks, I’ve noticed my chest stash is continuously building up. I cannot keep up with the gold chests and silver chest, to the point where I no long have room for more chest that I find in quests. I have even spent premium gems to increase chest stash size, but the amount of chests continue to grow. I have 16 golden chests and 14 silver chests. How am I supposed to open all the gold chests and open up slots for new chests? Each gold chests requires 6 hours to open: 14 x 6 = 84 hours. That’s over 3 days folks, and that’s assuming one would begin unlocking a chest immediately after one has been open, but that is unreasonable. Add in the silver chests and it’s over 4 days. If I continue playing, I will consistently have to stop playing quests and completely focus on opening chests for 3 to 4 days at a time to clear my chest cache... watching a timer is not fun. Why can’t we choose to delete chests? Deleting a chest should be a no-brainer and should be a decision that the player makes. It would be even better if we could sell them but again, this is a strategic money grab to force the player into opening these..Version: 1.3.0

BrokenThe game has been broken for several days now. The game loads and several seconds later a scroll begins to unfurl which then crashes the game once it gets halfway. I have tried restarting app and phone to no avail. No updates from Bethesda about fixes. Did anybody test before rolling out updates to live? I think not. This game is unplayable until fixed!.Version: 1.1.0

Store doesn’t workI have had this game for a couple of days now. No updates have come up and still store hasn’t worked..Version: 1.4

DisappointedI downloaded this and I love it I really do, but in the beginning the game does not require you to create an account with Bethesda. You just start playing. However one time when I reopened the app it had “logged out” and required me to religion in even though I didn’t have an account in the first place. So whatever I made an account and continued playing no issues. Now it has logged me out again and when I log in it takes me to the beginning. I have only had this game a couple of days and had reached level 14. Due to this issue I have now lost all of my game data ?? It’s definitely not worth starting again as it took me a while to get there. Pretty upset about this and don’t want to have to restart or in install. Please fix this..Version: 1.0.3

Unfair player verus player matchesLook I just started playing I’m like around level 7 but every time I go into arena they are another level ahead of me Which is unfair so then I get ko,d please try to make it a bit more fair level wise.Version: 1.7

Hard tutorialThe tutorial was to hard.Version: 1.14

It’s not worth it, still, again, alsoUpdated 11/09/20 Controls are uncomfortable, quests are boring and repetitive, NPC interactions are boring, loot is rote wait or pay. Not worth time or money. Extremely disappointing for something sporting “Elder Scrolls” in the name People are way sick of micro transactions and loot boxes. Bethesda needs to reevaluate what kind of company it is and what it’s putting out into the world. This is trash.Version: 1.9.0

Plus capable de me connecterDepuis la dernière mise à jour je ne peux plus me connecter, le jeu ne s’ouvre plus du tout!.Version: 1.7.1

Crashing and BugsConstant crashing, can barely go through one quest without it crashing more than ten times (sometimes even more depending on how long it takes). So basically playing is impossible at this point. The tutorial to open chests doesn’t work at all. Can’t press anything, even when it’s telling me to push a certain button the button that’s needed isn’t there and now it’s stuck like this. Can’t even get out of it even when restarting the game. Honestly this is extremely disappointing and I don’t recommend 👎.Version: 1.3.1

Bug reportAs it is impossible through the game and Bethesda page to give any feedback and report about bugs I’ll do it here. With new updates the cave trolls now refill their health in the mid fight and they do it very quickly. It doesn’t matter how much health you have or how you fight with them (magicka or stamina) it’s impossible to beat them. The next problem I have with the game are the shields. I have moved the shield button on left side of my screen but it is too close with the abilities that a lot of the time two get mixed up. It would be nice if there was also a vertical option for shield placement. The other problem with shield is even on mid fight when I do push the right button the shield doesn’t come on right away. I am usually taking a hit or two first before it comes on..Version: 1.0.3

Solid for early access. I hate pay to playThis is a wonderful mobile version of elder scrolls. Pretty, entertaining, and just plain fun. It’s simple, but something you can thoughtlessly sink a few hours into. Which is fortunate because if you’re not willing to sit through some clash of clans style build times, you’re gunna have yourself a bad time. The biggest problem is everything in the game past level 5 is a half an hour or more to accomplish anything, and buildings feel useless and meaningless more often than not. The quests are a little repetitive, but nothing we haven’t seen before. The biggest problem is that after gearing up after 20 hours of blacksmithing decent armor, you find yourself at a wall. At around level 9 i found the most severe difficulty spike of any game in recent memory. Every fight in the game went from “yeah if you swing enough they’ll die and you take no damage” to “if you don’t have at least 1 potion per enemy you’re gunna die even if you perfect shield everything” I’ve tried grinding and leveling up, but honestly the armor and quest differential is insignificant compared to the jump in power of enemies. While i seriously enjoyed the first few mindless hours of gameplay, i wish there either was no difficulty spike, or it came in late game. Not when it feels like you’ve barely gotten anything done after 7 hours..Version: 1.0.2

Irritating syncing issuesCould be worth investing in eventually, but a few irritating little glitches that detract from enjoyment. The most irritating (which led me to delete this from my phone) is the need for an unbroken data connection - even moving from 4G to 3G for a couple of minutes can cause the game to freeze or render quests impossible to finish (e.g. in a quest that requires you to collect x of something, you reappear in the dungeon when the connection returns, but at a point before you collected the last item, which has now disappeared etc)..Version: 1.0.3

It’s started off great but..I’m a huge fan of elder scrolls, so you can imagine my excitement when I saw this game available. I waited to play the game some before giving it a review. Firstly the controls lag here and there throughout the game which can get pretty frustrating. Like when I break a pot and go to collect the stuff, when I tap on it, it makes me walk away. So I’m constantly having to go back to collect it. Second when I am fighting a enemy, it lags to strike sometimes, therefore I take hits and then end up dying. Third thing that is annoying in the game is the job posting. The main story line requires a certain level & 9/10 you’re not going to be at that level, so there’s job postings that you can complete to level up, so you can do the story line. The problem is the job posted are higher than your character’s level also, and you rarely ever get a job posting that is you characters level to complete it. So therefore you come to basically a stand still in the game. You can’t level up because you can hardly get jobs that are your characters level and you can’t complete the main story line because your character isn’t strong enough. The good things though in this game, it is easy to get gems and I guess you could slowly level up by doing the abyss tower. But it would be better if you would actually get jobs that are in your level of area more often..Version: 1.6.3

Only playing because I don’t have Skyrim anymore. This app is alright, it’s kinda nice to have something similar to Skyrim right on my phone. (I don’t have a ps4 anymore) However I think they need to add a few things to make it perfect. First of all, I get so irritated because of how hard it is to acquire health potions. I only have one alchemist’s shop right now and it’s annoying that they only carry one potion at a time. It takes way too long to get missions done b/c of this, cause you literally struggle to survive. And your gems run out so fast, it’s hard to even buy some that way. (I don’t have actual money to spend on this app) Second, I was really disappointed when I figured out that you can explore outside of the town like in other games. You can only do that if you’re on a mission and I can’t stand it. You feel so confined. I get that it’s mobile so you won’t get much but that’s really limiting the apps potential. And lastly, again, the exploration is so limited. You can’t even go into buildings that are within your city! I’m not extremely far in the game and I know there’s a lot to unlock but the fact that I can’t go into the buildings I create is pretty dumb. Don’t get me wrong this is a fun pastime, but don’t get your expectations too high..Version: 1.3.1

Fantastic game, micro transactions to pricey. The elder scrolls blades has quite a challenge of living up to the elder scrolls name with the constraints of being on a mobile, Blades does quite a decent job at this and despite obvious and arguably inevitable missing elements of the elder scrolls titles on console/ pc it does feel like an actual elder scrolls game. The key features to mention are Pros Amazing graphics. Good Combat Decent story tied in with the quests. Levelling and skill tree. Decent crafting system. Little town to rebuild/grow and upgrade. Cons Skill tree is basic, one handed, two handed, etc all in the same line, no bow skill etc. No other skills or perks except combat ones, would be good to have perks for increased loot etc. Town has a range of options but still seems limited. Dungeons are very repetitive, needs more variety. And the reason it’s a 3 and not a 5. Micro transactions. I for one do not mind a game including options for better gear or speeds up with real money, it is after all a business and I think on paper it is a really nice option and a win win, however the cost for what you get with blades is unfortunately quite low, so until this is changed I will give this otherwise great game three stars until they do the following. Increase gems from quests or drops. Lower the price of gems and or increase what you get with them..Version: 1.0.3

Last update doesn't openJust donwloaded the latest version of the game, but it dioesn't open. Got ios 13.5.Version: 1.7.1

Early Access: So farExcellent graphics, a beautiful world that is stylistically appealing. Quite repetitive with very little variation. A good work in progress. Not strong storyline-wise. I’m hoping there will be more developments and improvements as time goes on. Edit: I’m finding the combat more difficult as time goes on - I keep dying mid-quest and need to use Scroll of Revival or spend a high amount of gems. It’s kinda putting me off to be honest... The same goes for your inventory - it’s costing more and more gems to add more space. Also for building and developing the town - buildings are costing more and more money and materials to make. Unless you’re willing to spend real money, it seems you can hit a wall pretty quickly. I can’t see myself sticking with this..Version: 1.0.3

Very sadHi, I am very disappointed. I am a huge Skyrim fan and love playing it on my PC but I wanted to download this game anyway because I would like to play out and about. The App Store clearly says IOS 11.0 and I have a iPhone 6 with IOS 12.0 and the once I open it, it tells me that my device is incompatible with the game. I would understand that it needs a newer device but maybe you could state that?! I love Skyrim and I am very sad that I can’t play your new game. I hope you can fix this so it doesn’t happen to other people? Thanks. Love your old game, keep up the good work..Version: 1.8.2

Worst elder scrolls game everThis game is not fun and unfair because i keep dieing, people in the arena are higher levels that aren't in my level raing.I like elder scrolls 5 skyrim and the elder scrolls online but this game i my least favroet elder scrolls game.😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬.🐶🐶🧸.Version: 1.22

Controls...I said this a year ago, the way this feels compared to other first person games on iPhone/iPad is sluggish. Even if you turn the sensitivity up it still manages to over compensate simple movements. This game should have controller support or at least a real fix to the movement of the character. For example; When I move forward and turn, I want it to be responsive like when you swipe from the middle of the screen, instead it’s sluggish because I don’t want to hold my hand over the middle of the screen the whole time I’m playing. Naturally my hands are holding an iPad/iPhone at the bottom half of the screen where they are relaxed, and so the bottom right hand corner should be where the centre mass of the characters is, not the centre of the screen. This is a major issue because if you jump from a console to tablet and like fast movement, it’s pretty much unplayable and stupidly annoying. A simple setting in the menu; enable free look on whole screen or something is not a big update..Version: 1.11

Battle and open worldThe way you battle sucks, you should make it so you could move around while battling and could you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I’m begging you make this game open world please Oh and no offence on the battle thing.Version: 1.14

Unfair arena match upsTo work hard at starting only to get unfairly matched at level 13 against a level 53 is ridiculous. I paid money to watch it all go down the drain. Until they fix this type of thing I would highly advise not wasting money..Version: 1.11

The Trading system is wackOkay so in general I really like the game but I’m so disappointed when I send a trade request to my guild chat and of course, someone donates, but I never get the donation. I needed 3 amethyst for an upgrade on my axe and ask, someone gives, I don’t get. This has happened 3 times and it’s kinda frustrating. Is there a specific place I have to go to collect my items? On top of all that, I understand my phone is a bit old but the game should work clearly since I only have this and one other, but it crashes every 15-25 minutes into playing. If there’s nothing you can do then that’s sad but okay and if you can do something then please do so. All on all I really wanna keep playing but it’s hard with all the glitches and malfunctions..Version: 1.5

Poor controls and limiting combat system. The drag on the looking stick and walking make the game almost unplayable. The camera swings around in the screen like a drunk person on ice skates. The combat system has you locked in place unable to move around in combat. I was expecting an open world game but this game is super linear and clunky..Version: 1.3.1

Can’t even open the app.I have an iPhone 6S and this app crashes every single time I try to open it. I restarted my phone and it still doesn’t work. Awesome..Version: 1.7.3

Not sureThe game looks great, plays really well, however the touch mechanics are a little clunky. During the fights the touch controls translate better than expected, though the interaction area appears to be a little tight. The game is set in a sort of dungeon crawler format with the ability to collect resources to rebuild your town, giving way to a town building mode. There is a mode called “Abyss” which has you going through a dungeon level by level defeating enemies for rewards, but uses the same rooms from all the other dungeons (there appears to be maybe 5 or 6 in total) as well as a “Arena” mode in the works, for what I assume is PVP content. The dungeons themselves are very repetitive, however it is still early days so this may change. To upgrade your armour you need to upgrade buildings in your town, which can be very time consuming and monotonous as the levels get very repetitive, and the quests are the same tasks over and over again with their rewards being rather small. As such rebuilding the town, and progression in the game is slow. All in all, it’s great to see elder scrolls on IOS even if it comes with the bad taste of “Early Access”. For a free game, it’s worth the time to download. But keep in mind it still needs a lot of polishing and at this stage at least, there isn’t a lot of content..Version: 1.0.2

High potential wasted by timers and bottlenecksThe game has potential but the way it is designed to bottleneck players with egregious timers is insane... imagine Skyrim with a less compelling world, very basic and boring story, basic combat, very basic and repetitive level design, and most importantly TIMERS that are all over the game and ruin the experience (e.g. you got a good chest reward from a quest and want to open it? Good luck waiting hours until the chest opening timer finishes so you can finally be rewarded with the chest’s contents; you asked the blacksmith to craft you a piece of armor? Good luck waiting until the timer finishes; you want to build a building to improve your city? TIMERS; You want to craft potions? TIMERS; Enchant gear? TIMERS. Et cetera). The way I see it, Bethesda puts the gamer between a rock and a hard place because you can either NOT purchase their expensive currency and suffer, OR you buy the overpriced currency and speed up the timers. Those timers ultimately left me with a feeling of "I’m not willing to invest a year of my time to get through all of this content due to the bottlenecking timers that are delaying me; it would just make me feel like I wasted a year of my life for a very unrewarding experience". Give it a try if you want but personally, I said "hard pass” after a little over a week..Version: 1.1.0

Won’t even load town and/or open! HOPELESSLove this game, fun and easy to play. Great on the go time killer, could spend hours on it. However I’ve got one bug, when I open the game and click on town it half loads the app shuts down. This happens over and over.... FIX IT!!!.Version: 1.1.0

Beautiful money pitI am at level 36, so have spent time and money on this game. It is fun and frustrating. Game play is good, I like the way you can combine spells and weapons play. Graphics are beautiful. It is worth just looking around in the game. The money pit is subtle. It is hard to find or buy the ingredients for health potions and they are rare in chests. Healing skills are not easy to use, and unless you only do easy quests and jobs, you will need health potions, lots of them. Many jobs are over your level. With health potions you can tackle them, but without them you can only handle the lower level jobs. At this point, I have spent serious money on the game and still have a stack of jobs too difficult for my character. You can buy missing ingredients with gems and you can buy gems with real money. You will eventually have to spend money, lots of it, to challenge yourself. A smaller frustration is you cannot use even high level two handed weapons on enemies near your level. Neither the two handed weapon, nor your spells will offer sufficient defense. Another frustration is the merchants never seem to have enough gold to buy the loot you don’t need, and if you sell low level supplies, you will have a really tough time finding them later on. This means you need a large pack. You can increase your pack size with skill points or gems. You will get a few gems in the game, but not as many as you need. Best phone game around, but expensive..Version: 1.4

Waste of effortWhy. Why why. Come on. Your just lazy. I been max for months. Waiting first for general release then updates now this repetitive sigile crap first Even at maxand required armour and weapon it’s hard Cos need buy loads of potions. And the turteling of the enemy. Second it’s repeat same levels. Same placement. Week in week out. Third. The updates to slow. And. There nothing to do In between EXEPT same same quests. fourth. In the quests. It’s the same basic monsters. And locations Where are the bears. Spiders wolves. Etc. It’s just pure lazy. Uncreative....... Oh. Wait. Or Is It this not enough people spending money to warrant bothering you do anything more than try to get more money. I wonder. Basically. Waste of tine and effort. Last dying breath of a once great software company. Soon to be relocating and launch in China. Hahahaha.Version: 1.8.2

I’m so frustrated to have to give this game a 1*So this game has so much potential and I genuinely enjoyed playing it at the start; however after the very early levels the jobs and quests become impossible to play unless they’re rated 1/5 skulls difficulty . Anything more than 1/5 skulls on the difficulty rating sees my character get absolutely pummelled despite me having decent gear which is all tempered and enchanted. This is still happening AFTER the new skull rating system was implemented. This means that between one quest to another you have to play hours and hours and hours of one after the after, repetitive jobs that are ridiculously easy just to level up multiple times to do one more quest. This massively breaks down the story and any fun in the gameplay. I was slightly disappointed that it’s totally limited to just your town, however the building of the town is pretty cool. It’s not a free roaming game unfortunately but maybe it’ll have potential to expand into this into the future. To summarise it’s a really cool game with so much potential, good game play and amazing graphics; but it’s 100% ruined by the fact it’s pretty much impossible to play due to massive issues with difficulty (name me another game when 2/5 difficulty rating would see you killed repeatedly). The alternative is to spend a tonne of money on the game just to scrape through, which turns me off spending any money on the game at all as it almost feels like a kind of blackmail..Version: 1.1.0

Sadly unplayableI have loved the elder scrolls series for a decade now, this game is extremely fun which is why I’m so annoyed that every time I kill an enemy in a quest or the abyss the game closes itself. The final blow freezes and the game quits, my progress in the abyss is lost but my quest is not, the quest however doesn’t register that I have killed that enemy but still gives me the loot. This means that on jobs or quests where I have to kill an amount of enemies or the boss to finish, I simply cannot! I kill the enemy but the quest won’t complete. This means I have to abandon it and lose my rewards forever. I have struggled to play the game with this problem for 2 days, tried everything to fix it but nothing works. For that reason I am upset to say in its current state the game is unplayable. However, the game play is very good and feels like a classic elder scrolls game. I hope the developers see this review and try to fix this problem. I have had the game quit over 40 times atleast over the past two days. - thanks.Version: 1.5.1

Guild bugThe game was great until I left a guild in search for another guild and hey presto....it turns out I can’t join any more guilds. I first expected this to be a 24 or even 48 hr restriction, to stop guild hopping from one to the next just to buy wares from traders, but it turns out it’s just a nasty bug it seems, but one which is stopping me from playing the game. The game started out quite exciting, but soon becomes repetitive with the same old 3 quest locations. It’s either a fort, cave or woodland and they’re all the same! The packs purchased don’t really offer anything considerable and having to craft & enchant weapons and several times, just becomes a compete ball-ache. After a while the game is quite dreary and lack lustre in content and quality. All in all, a good game for a couple of weeks until the interest wanes. I love me some E/scrolls, but Blades is a bit naff - it has to be said!.Version: 1.6.3

Still bustedThis game has been busted since it was released and for many reasons. The combat has never worked and combat is the center point of the game. Enemies can stun you with their shield no matter how early they block. Which doesn’t work for the player. What’s the point of having a versatile weapon if it swings as slow as the heavy weapons. No weapon swings fast enough to hit the enemy before they bring up their shield. You can’t play offensively because the enemy will just stun lock you. They haven’t been adding more quests. All they have added is rooms filled with a bunch of enemies and change their vulnerabilities/strengths and call it a new quest. There haven’t been unique quests added since launch. And even playing more than one of the new quest types means you have to completely change your play style. Which would be fine if that just meant you change your control of your character. But it doesn’t. It forces you to have completely different sets of equipment. Not everyone wants to grind their life away playing the game. Some just want to hop on and play a little without feeling like there is nothing available unless they grind. The enchanting system doesn’t always enchant according to the stated stats. The town leveling up system doesn’t let you level up at the tail end of level nine. Players commonly have to scrap buildings and rebuild over and over again to continue. The most scarce material for building is copper and they won’t let you buy it with gems..Version: 1.16.1

Unique but Very Difficult Game Be Prepared to PayThis is an incredible and unique game. It is the only first person shooter but with swords, battle axes, and maces I have ever come across. The storyline is interesting and the graphics are awesome. I love that you have a town you can rebuild. Now for the bad: I have played RPGs my whole life, especially D&D. This is nothing like that. For one, you are alone. When in combat or in a quest, you do not heal unless to have about 50 healing potions (5 or 10 is not enough), or can find rare scraps of food. There are no classes, like ranger, cleric, paladin, mage, etc. So, you are on your own and have almost no way to heal and will meet tough adversaries as you get higher in level and will lose. I am at level 28 and don’t know how I made it this far. Leveling is literally a slow painful process. You can’t dodge, all you can do is block and attack, and every attack must be a critical one, no other option. I think it is more geared to the very UNFAIR PvP arena, where you will be pitted against very much stronger, higher level players (you lose) or pitifully weak, lower level players (easy win). Whether you succeed or fail depends on luck of the draw and how fast you can hit. Forget spells and potions and abilities, they just slow you down while your opponent pummel you into the ground. A most frustrating game which is too bad because it is the only one of its kind. Don’t play this game unless you like to constantly lose..Version: 1.16

Boring doesn’t feel like Skyrim :/Make an actually Skyrim game pls? For mobile.Version: 1.9.0

Bethesda continues to disappointThe Elder Scrolls Blades overall has some decent core mechanics but is ruined with pay to win loot boxes, repetitive missions and lack of story quests. Compared to a lot of other freemium games where it’s possible to get good gear and equipment for free, this game just comes across as incredibly greedy in comparison. With a competitive element on the way with an arena mode where players can verse each other, that mode will be filled with people who have maxed out equipment from dropping money into the game. Have micro transactions isn’t inherently bad, it just is when they’re just done in such a opportunistic way..Version: 1.2.0

Not a true Elder scrolls. When I hear the name “Elder scrolls”, I imagine all the awesome gameplay. A Bethesda game would usually contain a free roam world with hundreds of unique quests. And with a cool story that you can control. Most of the decision making is gone, the whole world is gone. But I do like the idea. Fixing a raided city. But this is more of a grinding game than awesome rpg. But I do understand that it is too hard to make a game for a mobile phone that won’t crash. So I will give you 3 stars. For a game with lots of possibility..Version: 1.4

Has promise but...The good: Graphically this game doesn't disappoint. Controls are finally customizable, but incomplete. There needs to be additional options to hot swap weapons and quick use of poisons/potions. The initial story line is decent enough to keep you interested until ~level 30. I do like the town building feature, but I would also like some option for switching building positions. Overall game play fighting is fluid, even when playing in portrait or landscape. The bad: Does require a stable internet connection. If your phone switches to different wifi signals automatically, you'll need to re-sync. Typical P2W options, but not necessary for initial and mid game. The ugly: End game design needs thorough vetting. Gear repair costs escalate significantly, but gold accumulation from mobs or jobs falls well short of what's required to maintain gear. No option to disenchant gear to recoup some materials and try to re-enchant gear. High end materials for enchanting and crafting are only achievable by opening chests. Gear rewards for chests do not align with character level, especially for the top two chest options. As a result, the grind for decent end game gear is out of reach. End game design warrants skill tree focus on health management as a requirement, and therefore limits flexibility with how gear should be enchanted to maintain survivability..Version: 1.0.3

Same old same mobile cash grab crapReally bad Horrible controls, even for a mobile game and character customization look like for a PlayStation 2 video game.Version: 1.3.1

Logged outHad the same issue with the game logging me out and game took me back to the beginning. Was going to delete because it wouldn’t let me sign in with my details but it eventually got sorted. Hope this doesn’t happen again. Love the game though although my partner has finished all quests and is waiting for any updates. Edit. Continues to log me out every time I exit the game. Please fix this because it has a lot of potential apart from the repetitive landscapes and jobs..Version: 1.1.0

Fun Game at the StartThis game has been great to play until you get far enough into it. There is nothing in this game that changes to keep the game interesting once you have beaten the quests. New quests are very slowly and rarely ever implemented and when they are they can be finished in less than an hour. This game is great for a short time but it won't be a game people play over and over again like Skyrim..Version: 1.3.1

Has potentialWhat can I say here, if you were looking for a good mobile game in the Elder Scrolls universe, this is it. It has its own story and adds new features which make it interesting. However there are some issues. The game crashes A LOT. There are some missions in which every single time you kill an enemy the game crashes, if you stand still for too long, crashes, even talking to some NPC’s triggers crashes. I get this game is not finished, but maybe focus on fixing the game before adding anything else. For example a mission to kill goblins which should take 5-10 minutes now takes 20-25 with about 10 crashes and restarts. Another thing is micro transactions. This game is in early access, but there are micro transactions, despite the game not even being close to finished. I don’t mind unobtrusive micro transactions in finished games, but they should not be in the game, at least in its current state. In conclusion, this game has some potential if it continues to be worked on, and may be one of the best new free games in the near future. However, that day is not today, and the devs need to work on the other issues surrounding the game before adding anything new. Right now the game is honestly a 3.5 when it works correctly. I recommend not downloading the game now however, give Bethesda a few months to sort out the issues and save yourself a lot of frustration..Version: 1.5.1

Can’t even playStarted the game, can’t even finish creating the character and it comes up with communication error and restarts and wipes the character process. Too unstable.Version: 1.6.3

Full Pay to WinExiting at the beginning but very quickly turns into a pay to win model; The battles become so hard that you are forced to pay money just to keep up and it is so bad that even after spending money, it is hard to continue due to bad drop rates. Not recommended.Version: 1.2.0

ImmersionI think the game has promise but having come from pc this really lacks the same immersion but it’s early days I hope they manage to make it a great experience on mobile.Version: 1.0.3

Unfortunate money grabLike most, takes too long to accomplish anything without paying for it. Sad really, as I’m a huge Elder Scrolls fan..Version: 1.4

It just keeps on crashingI play on ipad all other games no problem but blades crashes like clockwork at least 5 times every 10 minutes..absolute rubbish!!! Fix your game!!!.Version: 1.14

MehFirst off I just want to say that I’m a huge fan of Bethesda I played my far share of there games fallout elder scrolls and others games but when it comes to mobile games I’m not really happy with I got out of this game when I first got or shall I say launched of the App Store I could hardly even log in but years later here I am finally able to play this game and let me tell you the game is fun really fun and at time a at lest to me it kinda feels like I’m actually playing it on Xbox and I get a reality check ever once in a while haha but back on track there’s lots of good things about this games but there is a lot of bad things whit this game as well for example the dungeons are fantastic the amount of detail and graphics in to them are awesome and the combat can get a little bit frustrating but there are way to spice it up and some of the quest are responsible at a certain level I could go on abut what makes the game good but I must point out what makes me give this game a three star instead of a five star for example some of the quest you’ll find your self doing can be quit repetitive at time and the pieces in the shop is absolutely ridiculous and I’m not sure if this has happened to other people but I’ll be in the middle of a quest and out of the middle of now where the app kicks me losing Avery thing I worked for now I’m I telling to completely stay away form this game no but the game definitely need improvements.Version: 1.6.3

Started of great... now, not so much.Up until level 20 I was having a blast. But since reaching that level the monsters have become extremely overpowered and I am unable to complete any job without dying halfway through. The time it takes to gather materials to level up buildings is taking up to a week which is just silly for a mobile game. Trolls are almost impossible to kill, along with the large spiders and their relentless attacks. I know you recently fixed the difficulty spikes but everything is still way to strong. If these issues were to be fixed I think the game could be great. Please fix these issues as I don’t want to have to delete the game..Version: 1.0.3

DisappointedIt looks fantastic when it plays ! it plays well. But a Game App etc that requires as much money as it does to play it you would think the developers would put some sort of effort into making sure that the player doesn’t end up spending there time reloading the game after the ridiculous amount of crashes it has its unstable and very disappointing especially when one expects stability issue from Said developer as of past experiences and being a long time fan of these titles You’d think that you would be able to complete at least one quest in game, I’ve let this game sit and come back to it and discovered that some things do’t change CTD yeah CTD again two updates and still you guessed it Thx for the look but it’s time to uninstall I think. As one can clearly see that Bethesda needs to employ more staff or reoginize maybe get this app stable finish the games in the wings no dragging very scratch of coin they can out of Skyrim..Version: 1.19
