Beddit (for Model 3.5) for Negative User Reviews

Latest update broke the appIOS 12.4 iPhone 8, latest update and the app won’t even load Offloaded the app and reinstalled, unpaired Bluetooth and still broken What’s the point of $200 hardware that doesn’t operate within 6 months of use. Breaks fitness for merchantability laws in California Went to Apple store and they did a partial and then full iPhone reset and even factory reset. Guess what? Complete waste of time and now other apps are broken and I’m reinstalling the phone again..Version: 1.0.3

Terrible updateAfter the latest update the app won’t start at all. After several days without being able to use Beddit, I uninstalled then reinstalled the app. This allows the app to start but I have lost all previous sleep data. Beddit need to resolve some serious issues with their software QA process..Version: 1.0.3

Nothing learnedCounts the number of hours slept, whether you woke up in the morning, and sends you a reminder to go to bed. So what? I could do all of that myself. Just an expensive piece of kit..Version: 1.0

Stopped workingAfter iOS 14 went live, my beddit stopped working. There’s no support and it feels like it’s an abandoned product. It had very accurate results for years until it died. I’m not the only one so I don’t think it’s a hardware issue..Version: 1.0.4

Why?I have been pleased with this app and device up until the latest update. I thought one of the best features was the snoring monitor. It helped me to adjust the way I slept and reduce my incidence of snoring drastically. I am not sure why it was removed but, usually, I would think that features would be added to an update, not taken away..Version: 1.0.1

Is this still in beta?As part of a scientific research study, I was asked to sleep with a Beddit. Half the time, it got my sleep data profoundly wrong. The worst examples? Several times a week, it reported that I never went to sleep (although I did), or that it only took a couple minutes to fall asleep (when it took an hour or more). One night, it told me I had already slept 8 hours and 36 minutes before I even got in bed! I think this product needs A LOT more fine tuning before it’s ready for mass marketing..Version: 1.0.4

Oops. Updates please!!!A week in now. It is stuffed up by phone updates, so you need to sort it after these. but have worked out you can test it is alive by watching the little green icon light up when you sit in the sensor. Now that I have a handle on this it is working ok. Up to 3 stars. It is much less good I would say than the other apps I have used. Of course if you sit on the bed whilst you read or dress it has no way to know that you are not trying to sleep so I flick off phone Bluetooth whilst doing this. Now data is accurate but not detailed or editable. You can of course edit the data in the health app if you want a correct long term estimate. What I like. When all set up it really does tell me how fast I fall off to sleep completely automatically! (Just a few minutes-lucky me). What I dislike. Flakey and no way to edit errors. #### After a poor start things have gotten worse. It seems an iOS update broke things. After update I made sure to restart the app but still lost a few nights. I had to disconnect and reconnect the device to get it working again. Sorry down to 1 star I really didn’t want to stoop to this, but it seems just useless as it is. So sorry developers. ################# Original review So I have had my eyes on these for years. Finally when Apple took over I knew I really wanted one. Then I saw the awful reviews. After years of this(?) I finally picked one up half price and thought I’d give it a go. I have to say I did not believe the reviews. It can’t be that bad!!! Anyway lots of the reviews complained it doesn’t display REM sleep etc. I do not believe that any app can detect REM sleep to be honest without an EEG. Anyway..... gave this a try for one night so far and it was hopeless. As everyone seems it seems to ignore the lying in bed trying to sleep period entirely. And just says you slept perfectly. I monitored also with another app (with watch) and that gave believable data. So all the other metrics seemed sensible heart rate trace. I simply don’t understand So I have had my eyes on these for years. Finally when Apple took over I knew I really wanted one. Then I saw the awful reviews. After years of this(?) I finally picked one up half price and thought I’d give it a go. I have to say I did not believe the reviews. It can’t be that bad!!! So all the other metrics seemed sensible mean how it can be sensitive to detect heart rate by means of vibration..... but unable to notice you just sat on it or did several full turns!! This has to be a software issue. So then, how come it has not been updated for nearly a year. Come on Apple guys!!! Work your magic please :-) Ground truth went to bed 0015 slept rubbish. Up at 0847. Pillow (with Apple Watch) In bed 2307 up 0847 quality 70% Could edit bed entry to 0015. Quality now 64%. Awake 18%. Beddit In bed 0044 up at (no specific given) about 0830 from graph. Awake 4 mins 99% quality. So I will give it a week and re review. Perhaps it learns, but I expect not. I think it need software edits. Still awful. I am really surprised! Still often missed the first hour of being in bed (and sound a sleep last night). Weird I so wanted to be the one giving a good review.... but it is much worse than just guessing so it has to be a generous 2 stars..Version: 1.0.4

“Time Awake” needs work.I was hoping that this system would give me more accurate data than the iWatch/Pillow combination I’ve been using. It certainly gives me _more data, but “time awake” doesn’t seem to track at all well. (caveat - I’ve only been using it for 2 nights; perhaps it needs time to model my sleep pattern, but if so, this isn’t stated in the info about the app). For instance, I _know that i was awake last night at 1.30 and 4 (i looked at my watch), and though my other app shows this, Beddit (as far as i can see) doesn’t. I know that i didn’t get enough sleep, and yet Beddit tells me i got a full 7+ hours. I can see from the heart data in Beddit that my pulse rate went up around both those times, so why couldn’t the app figure out something was going on? I have to say that i expected more from an Apple product. Hopefully data interpretation will be improved in subsequent app releases..Version: 1.0

Now no data at allLast update did bring back snoring detection. At least it’s listed in the settings. Since the update though it doesn’t register any data at all however. As pointed out in reviews before, it would be nice if there was some sort of indication it’s connected, or if it were possible to see the raw data trace again after the very initial setup to know it’s actually working. And yes, I’ve unpaired and repaired multiple times. Was working fine, then seems dead after update. More and more disappointed..Version: 1.0.4

Still a joke. Not very usefulDoes very little except nag. Was hoping for insight into apnea, restless sleep or something besides when weight was simply present on my bed. No real updates since launch, this is clearly an abandoned failed product..Version: 1.0.3

Removing functionalityOut of nowhere, they just remove the snore tracking. Refund please..Version: 1.0.1

App & DeviceThe app doesn't do anything without the device. The device does not give reliable readings. This product (app and device) needs a lot of development before I could ethically recommend this to anyone..Version: 1.1.0

Used to work well...The function of a sleep tracker is to record your sleep. When it doesn’t do that it is useless. We have two beddits, one for me and one for my wife. Since the latest update the beddit has stopped recording our sleep. We have reset our phones, reset the beddits, unpaired then and repaired them and it still doesn’t work. Please fix this apple!.Version: 1.0.4

Random nights when the tracking doesn’t work/syncFor the first day after the last update, the app kept crashing on start-up. Eventually this problem went away, but I still have the problem where the device and app fail to sync with one another on random nights, leaving gaps in my sleep tracking. I’ve no idea if it’s a hardware or software problem, or both, but it’s not great..Version: 1.0.3

App Is Missing Some Fundamentals- App is missing an indicator that the strap is being used (besides auto-snore detector as not everyone wants to disable Siri/mic) - Apple Watch app is pointless. All it shows is your bedtime. Is give us some stats here. Severely lacking behind AutoSleep - Needs an Apple Watch complication. AutoSleep has great complications which display how much sleep you got. Now that Apple owns Beddit, you’d think they’d be more on it. - Should have a way to enable snore detection but keep Siri enabled is possible - Push notifications need to be more insightful and remind user to input how the feel upon detection of waking up.Version: 1.0

Disappointed so far...I’ve used sleep trackers over the years and surprisingly the 3.5 Beddit provides very little information compared to others, including the Beddit 3.0. While the hardware works fine, the app makes very little productive use of the information. I hope Apple further develops the capability of this device..Version: 1.0

A retrograde stepI had hoped for more since apple have now taken ownership and released their own hardware. The analysis is very basic and doesn’t show types of sleep like some rivals. I hope apple are working on a significant update............ So, the latest update removes yet more functionality. Now no snoring detection. Other sleep mats offer much much more. Very disappointing..Version: 1.0.1

LandfillThe device and the app are garbage. When it works, and it hasn’t worked most of the time I have had it, the data it collects are garbage. A spotty record showing that I slept about 2 hours a night. I have tried all the fixes—readjusting the hardware, unplugging/plugging, resetting, following all instructions. Two nights of bad data, then nights with no data at all. The manufacture should be required to refund anyone who bought this, then pay for the recycling because all of this product is going to end up in landfills before it turns a year old. This is product is wasteful and criminal..Version: 1.1.0

Smart alarm? We want the smart alarm back, it was dumb lit.Version: 1.0

Sleep phase?Sleep tracking? Purchased this new product specifically for sleep phase tracking. Please bring this functionality.Version: 1.0

UselessAfter recent update it became even more useless as it was before....Version: 1.0.1

Current version deserves ZERO starsThis app is horrendous - and basically doesn’t record your sleep data. Their developers need to fix this app, it can’t be that hard to fix and release a patch/update to properly record data. This is embarrassing that they can’t even make a simple app with their device to work, DO NOT BUY THIS DEVICE, the app makes it worthless and useless!!.Version: 1.0.4

TerribleThey discontinued support and the app for the previous model (3) so if you had a perfectly working product and need to re download the app (upgraded device in my case) you now have a useless piece of garbage that you can’t use. Was happy before this— but I won’t go and spend money on a newer version of their product after this..Version: 1.1.0

New App is full of bugs and cuts featuresI purchased a second Beddit. The new v3.5. Unfortunately a lot of features are missing from the old version of the app. It has these strange row of numbers that count up above Sleep Analysis Results that aren’t explained anywhere. I’m on the PST California time and Beddit app thinks its on east coast time. It’s already in the next day long before it midnight. Very frustrating..Version: 1.0

Disappointed after much promiseVery disappointed that I will be returning this. Tried everything to connect via Bluetooth. Worked great for about a week, granted just doing what it does which is somewhat limited. But I found it very informative. Then just stopped connecting. Total pain.Version: 1.0

Not goodHoping this will turn into something good, but it’s not yet. - no trend graphs for many things like high/low sleeping heart rate - no general sleep score to trend - no movement score - can’t see raw data after set-up - no heart rate variability score - no respiration rate trend - trend time windows limited to just a few choices - no “deep sleep” estimates - can’t see snoring vs respiration rate The raw data the sensor gathers seems to be a lot richer than the software can use or display..Version: 1.0

Missing the best features!I love this product and this app. Not a fan that the older models did not last. This version is missing a critical feature that previous versions had, trip my alarm a little early if it is close to the alarm time and I am in a light part of the sleep cycle. No groggy mornings! Please put this feature back in!.Version: 1.0

Nobody cares 👺As an Apple company you have adopted the policy of ignoring customers.... Not one response or explanation to removing functions and deleting our data.... Time won’t pass unaware....when you choose simply not to care......Version: 1.0.3

Very poorly designed app that often does not work at all!Horrible app, returning to Apple store. The interface does NOT show if it is connected to the sensor. It shows that it's paired, but that doesn't mean it's working. So, you can have it miss an entire night without any indication that it has a problem. it also misses complete blocks of time. Twice in last two weeks it's completely missed the first hour I was in bed. Didn't show in bed but not asleep, it just didn't show anything at all. So, in less than two weeks, I've missed one complete night and gotten a very incomplete report on two other nights. It also has a binary notion of 'sleep', either you are asleep or not. It doesn't use movement to determine how well you are sleeping - at least there is no user interface showing this like any other sleep app. It especially doesn't use my Series 4 Apple watch which is very disturbing. If you play music on a bluetooth speaker during the night while getting up for a bit, it disconnects from the sensor, so no more recording and of course no indication that it's not recording. I develop software for a living. To me this was developed by people who don't understand the basics of a user interface. Back to the Apple store for this poor excuse for a product. I bought AutoSleep instead which does a much better job of logging sleep and works without any issues..Version: 1.0

Much less data & insight than previous versionWhy remove the sleep score and data on time spent in different states of sleep? I’m going to return this “new” and degraded version of Beddit..Version: 1.0

Crashed on launchI can’t get this app to work at all. Just crashes whenever you open it after installing. I guess my Beddit tracker is useless now?.Version: 1.1.0

Simply does not workI’ve had to have my sensor replaced twice. The sleep times it reports simple are not true. Somehow it shows that I’m out of bed every morning at 4:30am. Even when I’m sleeping until 8-9am. Support suggested wiping my iPhone deleting the app, all of which I’ve done. Still the sensor cannot even record the time at which I lay on it - how long I lay on it - and when I get off it. If it cannot do that - what does it do?.Version: 1.0.4

STOP recording data on the WRONG daysGrrr... As title says. Need I say anymore?! Also, the stats are all over the place. This USED to be good..Version: 1.0.4

Quite Simply Doesn’t WorkHaven’t even been able to track ONE night of data after using this every night for a month. The strip doesn’t detect anything and the design of it should never have made it past its prototype stages. This JUST DOESN’T WORK. Do not get this..Version: 1.1.0

Must open app???I don’t understand why the app has to be open every night before I go to sleep to record. It should be open since it’s plugged in constantly…it crashes some times too. This app needs a revamp.Version: 1.1.0

Just crashesThis last update just hangs on the splash page and then terminates after about ten seconds. What on earth am I supposed to do this product is useless if the app doesn’t work.Version: 1.0.3

Needs light/deep sleep featuresI hope the light/deep sleep features are added soon. Otherwise the beddit 3.5 model and the app are not worth it. A fitbit Alta HR would work better than this and be cheaper..Version: 1.0

Disappointing AppFor a sophisticated sleeping tracker (and a price point that supports that expectation), the Beddit app provides surprisingly very little data that is collected through the night. The previous app looks to have had all the things I would have expected (visual representation of sleep patterns, overall sleep score), so it is shocking how bad the update to the app has been. Seems like a huge miss for Apple and potentially the first time I’d consider returning a product from them (and writing my first negative review). Bring back comprehensive data....Version: 1.0

Dissapointed with new dataWhat happened to data like time spent in light sleep, deep sleep, restless sleep? The overall sleep score? All gone. The graph of your sleep the night before is very basic now and you can’t see any detail- i.e. what times you were up. Will return if they don’t update the app with more functionality..Version: 1.0

Bring back the Beddit 3.0 AppHow is it possible to update the app and make it much less functional with less information than the previous app. Unbelievable!.Version: 1.0.4

What Happened?I was looking forward to the new Beddit expecting that Apple would improve an already great device and application. It’s fair to assume Apple bought Beddit because they liked the company and its product. Well to be kind they gutted the product. The data is a mere shadow of what the old app and hardware provided. I sent mine back..Version: 1.0

New update takes away snoring detectionI was expecting to see features added—not taken away. Apple doesn’t seem very interested in improving this product. The snoring detection is one of the few things the Beddit can do that my Garmin Vivismart can’t. When I compare it to my Garmin the Beddit seems to be lagging further and further behind in the 8 months I’ve owned version 3.5. Apple please improve with new releases..Version: 1.0.1

Crashes on launchCrashes on launch - used to work perfectly. Reinstalled with same on launch crash. Can’t honestly believe this got through AppStore review.Version: 1.0.3

Blue Tooth Connectivity Issues RMAWorked for two days and then the connectivity issues started. Customer support did not even know what the product was? First step was to delete the app and loose your data. Manager then wanted me to totally wipe my phone and restore. Instead I used a second and it would not connect. Leaves me unsure if any of the data is meaningful. From other posts Apple cut out much of the more detailed information. Will give it a second try but less than impressed..Version: 1.0

Snore monitoring gone!I bought this on the strength of its ability to monitor snoring & heart rate. 4 months later and an ‘update’ removes the snoring. What on Earth are you up to Apple? Get this sorted, and while you’re at it, improve the data available, that you removed from the originators product..Version: 1.0.3

No love for 3.0This app only works for the 3.5 Beddit. OK, no problem ... except that the App for the 3.0 is no longer available making it a completely useless bunch of wires. Literally couldn’t be worse. You can’t use it. It creates landfill. Appalling..Version: 1.0.4

What happened?A couple of months ago, I read a good review of this product. My wife knew I wanted and just purchased it for me on my January birthday. You no longer get everything I originally wanted. The truncated data set is so simplistic you can get better info from some Apple Watch apps. I am considering returning it this week. As is it is definitely not worth the money..Version: 1.0

Frustratingly lameThis app constantly stops working and recording data. There’s no indication as to what’s wrong, or any reminder if you’ve accidentally closed the app to reopen it. Beddit also assumes you’re sleeping even if you’re not (such as reading on your phone in bed). The phone and watch movement data don’t influence Beddit data, which could be really useful in creating more accurate sleep data..Version: 1.0.4

Disappointing - inaccurate and lacking metricsThe basic tracking is very inaccurate. For example, it completely fails to recognise me laying in bed an hour before falling to sleep. Just discounting that time. There is also no detailed metrics on the quality of your actual sleep. For example REM sleep cycles..Version: 1.0.4

Update failureAfter last update my Beddit 3.5 simply stopped working. I got 0 nights slept. I’ll request replacement or refund. Worked well previously and though other users complains for accuracy I found it accurate..Version: 1.0.4

Latest update doesn’t launchDon’t update until this is fixed..Version: 1.0.3

Disipointed in AppleHow can apple and doors this product. By all descriptions of hardware this should have been an exceptional product. It does not work. I keep readjusting and re-plugging and resetting the device. It continues to ride absolutely false information that is worthless..Version: 1.0

App stopped launchingEven when it worked, it wasn’t great (as explained in countless other reviews). Now, as of a couple of days ago, the app won’t even launch past the splash screen. I didn’t update iOS, so there is no reason why anything should have changed. I tried disconnecting-reconnecting the device, deleting and reinstalling the app, and restarting the phone, before finally concluding that I wasted $150 on a now useless Beddit device..Version: 1.0.4

Do not buyThis is a terrible product, it has no useful sleep tracking features. Completely inferior to other sleep trackers on the market. Also, it is uncomfortable as it sits under the sheet rather than under the mattress Apple must have determined that REM and NREM sleep detection could not be done accurately, so it entirely removed those features. Particularly frustrating is that, when you set it up it has a graphic to show you it is working which indicates it is sensing various metrics (breathing, heart rate etc) but once it is in use it only tells you how long you were asleep. I returned it and purchased the Withings sleep tracker. It is a much better product..Version: 1.0.4

Very little info and device constantly needs to be resetI had high hopes for this software and sleep tracking device. However, after a year of using it, I’m pretty disappointed. The amount of information available has decreased with each new app release and the device itself keeps needing to be reset to work..Version: 1.0.4

Totally Rubbish!I usually don’t like to write negative reviews but this product is soo bad I have no choice. The data you get from it is basic and for the cost it is not even worth purchasing..Version: 1.0.4

Removed snoring feature?I bought this for the snoring feature and it mysteriously has been removed. It’s hard to believe Apple has done this. Hard to find support for this anywhere.Version: 1.0.3

Very dissatisfiedThis product does not live up to the Apple brand name. It is highly unreliable in its data collection. I have used it for two months and got less than 50% of the nights captured with some data. What I have learned to cope with is to reach down under the bed to reset the USB connection every two nights. When I forgot to reset it, i could count on it to not collect any data. Most recently I am having problems connecting the Bluetooth. It has been a struggle with this product. I bought it through the chase promotion as a last minute birthday gift to myself without doing much research... when I inquired about the return policy I was told it was only 14 days. Now that felt like a trap for poor quality products using the Apple name. Very disappointed. I shall never make the same mistake again!!!.Version: 1.0.4

Update 1.0.4 absolutely destroyed the reliability of the Beddit systemUpdate 1.0.4 absolutely destroyed the reliability of the Beddit system. Virtually every morning since this update has been an exercise in frustration because of how inaccurate the data capture was overnight..Version: 1.0.4

Smart Alarm?Beddit 3 used to have the ability to set alarms. Now it doesn’t. Overall fewer features and less tracking then 3.0. I would go back to the older version if I could. Without the Smart Alarms, and without the sleep score, I might as well just not even bother, all it really tracks is if I’m in my bed or not..Version: 1.0

Inaccurate and TerribleYou have one job, Beddit. ONE JOB. And you're terrible at it. You can't distinguish between lying still and sleeping. If I have a night of insomnia where I'm in bed awake (lying still, but awake), you log those hours as asleep, giving totally fictional reports. The Apple Watch and the Beautyrest tracker are both much more accurate and break down sleep by type (light, deep, etc) -- a basic feature of all sleep apps that you lack (which is insane, given that this is the ONLY thing you're supposed to be good at). Returning you, Beddit. Sorry..Version: 1.0

UnsupportedDear Dev. I have an older model 3.0 I have no possibilities to download the app for that . Even with US AppStore it’s says the region is no supported by this application . If I’m using this application it’s drive me throw for the older application at the store which gives never a ending loops .. so I cannot use the accessories any more . Please advise !.Version: 1.0.4

Now completely broken by iOS update.Update on my last review: since the latest iOS update, although the app/sensor still measure movement, respiration & heart rate, the recording function is broken. You can see the trace live, but stop the monitor when you wake & it’s as though you never turned it on. £140 is a lot of money to waste on something that’s broken on arrival..Version: 1.0.4

DisappointingI used to measure my sleep using autosleep with my Apple Watch but I did not really feel comfortable wearing my watch during sleep and thought that Beddit would be a reasonable solution. I knew from the reviews of both the product and the app that it would not be as good a measure of my sleep as the Apple Watch so my expectations were not that high to start with but this app still managed to disappoint. These are the main reasons: -if you accidentally force close the app, it does not record your sleep data at all - you simply loose all the data for that period that the app was forced closed. You would have thought that Apple would not develop something that requires you to manually check that the app is open in order for it to work. - the app only measures time in bed, time sleeping and time out of bed which is a lot less information than given in other apps but I still thought that would be ok - all I wanted to know was how much sleep I am getting every night and how long it takes me to fall sleep. So far the app does not seem to get it right. Most days it says I went to bed much later than I actually did and that I slept straight away when I know that I’ve spent at least half an hour reading before sleeping. Another day it recorded my time in bed as much earlier than I actually went to bed. How can I trust the data I get out of it? - It does not give you the option to amend the sleep or bed time if it gets it wrong either. -The results are shown on a tiny little graph that does not allow you to see very well what time you were awake during the night or what time you actually fell asleep. It is even difficult to see which one hour time slot the awake period happened! -Unlike other sleep tracking apps, it does not allow for multiple sleeping sessions during the day so if you take a nap during the day, it does not record it as a separate sleeping session from your main sleep. I can’t believe I’ve spent £150 on equipment that is no better than just manually writing down when I went to bed and when I wake up..Version: 1.0.4

Bring back 3.0 supportThe 3.0 app is no longer in the App Store, so the existing product, working perfectly fine prior to getting a new iPhone, no longer works for anything. Please bring back the old app or support the not very old products in the supported app..Version: 1.1.0

Snoring Detection RemovedThis update removed snoring detection. No explanation as to why? Not impressed at losing a feature via an automatic update..Version: 1.0.1

No alarmThe new 3.5 model is completely useless with the removal of the smart alarm..Version: 1.0

Really disappointedI had a previous version of this sleep monitor and it was great as it gave much more detailed metrics, such as REM sleep cycles etc. Why has this changed I wonder? Disappointed I bought this as they’ve drastically cut down on the info it gives.Version: 1.1.0

AbandonedNo updates, hardware now disappeared from the online store. Most likely quietly abandoned..Version: 1.0.4

Really badHaving a hard time understanding how Apple could release something that provides so little useful information. Had insomnia most of the night and my Fitbit properly showed that. Beddit literally said I slept great. You can do everything beddit can do if you write down the time you went to bed and the time you got out. How can it be this bad?.Version: 1.0

Stopped working after the updateIt just won’t work. My Beddit was running smoothly until the latest update. It connects perfectly, but won’t record any sleep functions..Version: 1.0.4

Crashes at startup.Running v1.0.3 and it’s stuck at splash screen then crashes. Useless. This version was released 2 days ago but no QA it seems. Please fix the crash..Version: 1.0.3

Useless if hardware doesn’t work perfectlyApp is 100% “happy path”. When the thing doesn’t work right, there’s no help in the app at all. It might have worked for while, but I have no idea what’s going on and am done Complete waste of money..Version: 1.0.4
