✓ Over and outAfter 1338 wins, 28,000 losses, and a scary amount of $, I am finally deleting this app. Beautifully made, with great imagination, music, side contests, and clever detail - it is still all about taking your money. The higher you go, the more impossible it is to win without buying more and more; and even then the bombs and bags are rigged to ensure you spend your entire ‘free play’ time losing the same puzzle 30 times over. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP unless you have unlimited income and unlimited time to lose your money. It is brilliantly addictive until it becomes endlessly frustrating. ✓ Awful, don’t waste your timeLevels take a good 30-40 tries to complete. Adverts are rarely offered now, and it’s a gamble as to whether they’ll even work. Today I had 1.5hrs of unlimited lives and I cleared FOUR levels. Three of those I was forced to use my creature power because I was one or two moves out from finishing, the fourth I was simply lucky. There is no strategy, power ups deliberately avoid areas where they are needed unless there’s only one thing left to collect on the board. I managed to clear one more level since over the course of maybe the next two hours but again, with one move left I wasn’t offered an advert and had to buy moves with coins because I would’ve torn my hair out otherwise. I’m on the shrieking shack and every single level I’ve encountered in this or the previous chapter are deliberately short on moves. Spell classes take months to complete. The hedge maze is atrociously difficult now, even the first tier all seven lives are used to hopefully pass one single level. The mischief event still ruins games that would absolutely have been won otherwise. Swiping left/right is still often reversed to avoid making a good match and winning. I’m done. I’m fed up with this game. I have no reason to keep playing, especially with cheats also still rife..Version: 47.0.847
✓ One last review and I’m delete this gameBeen playing this game for a long time and currently at puzzle 2866. This game gets more and more frustrating. 1. When you get a 15 minutes free lives, you are about to stuck at that puzzle in the whole 15 minutes. If you get 30 minutes free lives and you are stuck at the puzzle for whole 30 minutes. This goes on no matter 15, 30, or an hour, you will always stuck in that puzzle like an eternity loop. 2. When you left just few move to complete the puzzle, the +3 ads definitely won’t pop up, however if you left more than 5 moves, the +3 ads most likely will pop up every time. Even though you watch the ads, when you finish watched it the game will most likely to freeze and stuck at there no responding. 3. On the previous puzzle, even the hard one, you try about 6 or 7 times you can easily complete it. But I found out after puzzle 2500, besides the free unlimited live, you are about to spend on average 20 times in order to complete a normal puzzle. If on hard one, it’s about average 40 times in order to complete it. This game was really fun to me at first but until recently the game design really makes me no motivate to open it anymore. ✓ Great game but bugSo I am really liking this game it doesn’t force ads down your throat like other games. In fact the only ads you get are in exchange for more moves. However I have to bring up a bug where I watch a full ad and get no moves instead the sound cuts out and won’t start again until I start another level. ✓ Set up to make you pay!12 updates since I started playing listed on my version history. Personally keeps getting worse with updates. Set up to make you pay. Some teams have extra players which is unfair for promotions. Some teams have players that get to play beyond the levels released because they are team testers but their levels count for team stats. In my own house we have three players and the cost to purchase things is different for some of us. I’ve dealt with a lot of glitches. ✓ It keeps getting worseThe money-hungry game runners keep making the game worse. Taking away our creature benefits in Quidditch, and now not allowing us to use in-game coins to purchase the monthly seasons pass? But only some of us lol. Because with Zynga’s “slow roll outs” they mess with the features by experimenting with part of their player population. I’m a leader of a Fire Diamond3/Champions Arena club, and I’m fed up. ✓ If you don’t spend you will fail.This is a well developed game with good graphics and HP quotes yadda yadda, it is, and it’s also true that you can pass the levels without spending lots of money. You will need patience to be able to complete levels, I’m on 223, and there have been too many levels where I’ve only needed one thing to complete it. So at first you spend 900 coins to get 5 extra moves and all seems well as they seem to pour money and special moves at you in the beginning. That slows down when the levels get harder, and daily classes are a joke to try and do sometimes. I haven’t even bothered with the club thing, as most reviews just say they’re dead weight, and as for collecting cards, I’ve got so many animals that need just one card to get, and don’t think I’ll ever get another with the amount of duplicates that come up. So yeah, spend your real money on this if you want a nice relaxing game, or just get annoyed at the continual disappointment of playing really well, but just not good enough to get the last square you need. But they keep happening. I am a team leader, so clearly I love this game, but the WEEKLY PRANKS NEED TO GO!! It is sucking all of the joy out of the game. Everyone in my team hates it and people have stopped playing because of it. Once a month would be fine, but EVERY WEEK? Just this past week, my team received over 100 pranks from one team alone. Anywhere else I’d call that bullying. We lost over 150 points and lost our level because we just couldn’t keep up. Tell me, Zynga, how is that fun for my team? No wonder my players are dropping out of your app entirely. Look at the reviews, people hate the pranks! No one says they like them. I’ll raise my rating of this game when you get rid of them or at least limit them to once a month. ✓ Ad Failures and frustrationLet me start by saying this review is not the typical railing against ad-based games in general. I understand the need for monetization and respect a developers preference to release a game as “free” but ad-supported. Having said that, the way this game treats ads is clunky, frustrating and prone to utter failure. The gameplay is enjoyable, visuals are impressive but the game is created in a way to push the user to click on an ad to extend a board (i.e. watch this ad for 3 more moves). The amount of times that this process has failed on me cannot be coincidence. I will be conveniently one move away from completing a particularly hard level so will click the ad to extend. The game will fail or lock up immediately after the ad plays or the ad will play through but will fail to provide the reward once the ad completes. It is also ridiculous that although I touch nothing on screen while the ad is playing the game will still try to kick me to the App Store for the ad that just ran. If I exit out via the Done button THEN the game will fail and force me to restart thus losing the reward and my progress on the ridiculously hard level that prompted me to suffer through the ad to begin with. I shouldn’t be surprised since this tends to be typical of Zinga games in general but this one is frustrating enough to force me to write this review. ✓ Fun game but has frustrating glitchesI love the graphics and the way it follows the books. Being able to give others extra lives and receive them in return is also a lovely feature. Using spells and levelling up is super fun as well. It’s a great game to unwind to and I love how you can just pick up whenever, so you don’t have to play everyday. But, I’m really sick of watching videos for three extra moves and then it not counting, so you end up watching an advert video for nothing. Sometimes there isn’t even an option to watch a video again, the button just refuses to push again or greys out. It’s really frustrating, especially when you are so close to completing a level and only need one extra move. If that was fixed, I’d give 5 stars..Version: 40.1.775
✓ Used to be 4-5 starsI have been playing this app for some time now. One of the most recent updates did away with the progressive free play. Over the course of a week, daily check in built progressively longer minutes of free play. Now, there are only currently 6 free plays and no automatic free minutes on days 4-6. Honestly, when I sometimes have to play several HOURS to pass a single level, having only 6 free plays leads to a week on the same level. I understand the app is to make money (you do have advertisers for that also). However, many people do not have expendable income in which to purchase game play, I do not. I miss the progressive free minutes & having the “XP, bombs, etc” to replace the progressive minutes is a poor substitute. Not looking forward to playing the same level for a week or more because the progressive free play has been eliminated. Additionally, I would agree with another reviewer- earning duplicate cards for my collection is also getting old…it has been a terribly long time since I’ve earned a new card for my collection. ✓ Candy Crush cloneCandy crush clone with a HP facade. It’s not a fantastic game for those who actually enjoy this type of puzzle game. The game is definitely fraught with bugs and an overwhelming sense of the developers being desperate to get their hands on your physical money, especially as you advance to higher levels. The gameplay is extremely repetitive and unrewarding for example by you burning through lives by failing standard levels and yet can complete “hard” levels with double digit moves to spare?! Furthermore the lack of levels, relying on Legends levels pertaining to your house when the story ones run out is disappointing. On the upside, the use of the HP licence hasn’t been too shabby, the game does have a nice aesthetic appeal that ties in nicely with the film franchise and the artwork is really good for the most part..Version: 25.1.622

✓ Amazing game but developers do not respond to problems in the gameThe game itself is very enjoyable and highly addictive. It’s fun to play and the special events are really well designed. There are some minor glitches which are addressed in the website (adds not loading etc). However, I have been experiencing a glitch in the “special delivery” event and have contacted the developer last time this event was on and now again and have gotten no answer. The first time I was told to restart the game and when I said I had done so I did not receive any response. Now there was no answer at all. ✓ Love the game but going broke playing itFirst I have to say I absolutely love this game! It’s challenging and creative and the graphics are phenomenal. But here comes the sad reality of this game and why I finally had to review it and only give 3 stars…lately all I do is shell out A LOT of money to play with nothing in return. There are no more magical creatures yet I still earn stars for them. Give me coin instead. Stop being so greedy! You can barley play multiple games without having to shell out money to finish every single time. Maybe I finish one in every 20 without having to pay to finish. And it gets frustrating because at my level I shouldn’t have to be doing that. It’s also shady when you have spent a lot of coin to try and finish a game yet that one lightning bolt or color gem you need to win is suddenly moved out of place. ✓ Not working fairlyYou get so far then the game tries to stop you going further always trying to get you to use money. Not all players get the same options as others and support say they cannot control who gets what with the adverts to watch to gain extra moves after failing a puzzle. Some players have always got the option and others never have and doesnt look like they ever will. Game doesnt always give the power ups you have made the gems flash and disappear without putting the power up in its place. The winged keys hit something you need to collect next to it and then go to that very spot to take the same item out - waste of a key. ✓ Not fun anymoreThe game used to get the option to watch videos at the end of levels to get extra moves and since I bought something in game for real money, they removed that option and are instead bugging me for more money. Tried to contact customer service but they don't get it or understand. They kept saying that ads ar "random". NO, I'm still getting ALL of the other ads. It's been months now and the option for free moves at the end of levels if completely gone. It's too hard to play now. ✓ Great game but poor in rewardsThe game itself is great -great gameplay and link to the films and characters but the way the levels are created is to make you pay coins for success and so often you are left with one item to remove at a cost of 900 coins - the game promises bonuses such as 3 extra lives but so often you don’t receive them when you should and are left with having to depend coins to finish a level. The game has magical creatures you unlock via opening cards gained through 8 victories but the chances of unlocking is long and tedious and again not assisted by your success but to drag out hoping your frustration leads to spending coins. Overall too frustrating and lacking genuine rewards for your personal achievements but the link to the films is good and it’s a shame the creators don’t assist the players inrewards that actually encourage them to continue playing. Clans you can join are graded on your weekly trophies but again the rewards for success are minimal and poor compared to your efforts - No doubt the game engine is fixed against you so be prepared to be frustrated and fed up and like so many who just drop out and stop playing.Version: 41.1.802

✓ Visually amazing…But the game is laggy sometimes, and the algorithm is blatant. Will let u win a level easily with plenty of moves to spare if u take a long break, and the same level may have taken you a complete hour of free play to try and defeat. It will also allow u to “almost” beat a level but for one game piece dozens of times in a row to try to get you to pay for an upgrade or buy a package to move on. Sometimes a critical last move powerup will go to the wrong piece for the same reason. Also, dozens of times I’ve made a critical move, and the game piece or power-up goes in the opposite direction I moved it which is very frustrating. I have a huge phone screen and slim fingers, I know what direction I moved the piece but it goes the opposite way seemingly to keep me from winning the level. That being said I’ve enjoyed the game more than the frustrating things about it. ✓ Fed up of bugs, daily puzzle issues, and challenge issuesI am fed up with spending real money on this game, only for boosters not to work to complete the level. Puzzle 1550 for example. I paid 900 coins for five extra moves, as I knew I had a Ron Weasley token I could trigger, causing the gobstones and the barriers around the map to be destroyed. Five additional moves should have been plenty. Instead, the fireworks triggered by the token destroyed random gems not the goals relevant to me completing the puzzle! Winged keys also do not always target the goals, and often when gems fall they do not create the power ups, even when the gems are not hindered by water or fire. I am running out of patience with the game. Levels should be harder as you progress, but not so near impossible that it takes 75 lives and sheer dumb luck to complete. ✓ CheatersI would love to give this game five stars but due to coming across so many cheaters and zynga not doing crap about them is so upsetting when someone has almost 20,000 trophies in less then 3 days then obviously they are cheating I spend over $100 a week usually more and play many many hours and have not come anywhere near this I can get around 2,000 trophies and I have a 95 win streak and when I see people with a thousand win streak or more and outrageous amount of trophies I report but this person who is making more then any other person and is making the amount of trophies an entire club of 30 makes in a week in just a couple days all by himself and has been making first place every week then somethings up and zynga ain’t doing their job this persons all time record is almost 40,000 trophies it’s so obvious that this person is cheating and zynga does nothing just says they take it seriously and cannot say what actions were or weren’t taken it’s to the point that I won’t be spending my money on this game until zynga bans benny he gets more trophies then others I have reported and were banned and I will keep reporting cheaters I hope everyone else does too mayb then zynga will stop being lazy and actually take us seriously we want a FAIR game zynga and until zynga starts getting actively involved in looking for and banning cheaters then this game will be just that a place where cheaters get away with cheating.Version: 26.0.637

✓ Can’t open gameI love the game. However, every time there is an update, I can’t never open the game (this is about the 4th update that this happens) each time it has been a different issue, the message this time is that it can’t connect to the internet, try again - I am connected to the internet, my browser and all online apps are connected and working online! The solution is always to uninstall, then start the game again at level 1 until several level laters that it allows you to reconnect with the correct account/level. This time around the uninstall and reinstall had to be done twice to solve the issue. Because of this I’m rating it a 3. I’ve put time, effort and $ towards this game and it is an inconvenience to have to go through all of this after their updates. Customer service has always been good, but The developers have to find a solution to their updates it should not prevent me to open the game and go through uninstall etc every and each time..Version: 46.2.838

✓ Glitches!I’ve been playing this game for well over 2 years and what started out as an awesome game for Harry Potter fans, has slowly deteriorated and has become a game full of glitches. Like many others have said: - watch ad for 3 extra moves constantly glitches; you also max out on these per day - club maze is often never there on start-up - gifts that friends sent disappear before the expiry date (btw, friends have to actually pay real money for these gifts too) - the algorithms for certain items have serious flaws (i.e. keys targeting priorities need to be looked at to actually help you complete the level; key-bombs always targeting the corners so very little damage gets done to the game board) - news/announcements are hidden under support—why not send news to people’s inboxes so we can be made more aware of changes to the game? - events are not rolled out amongst ALL players; for example new creatures will be released and made available to a small number of players first with other players seeing their teammates unlock new creatures while this is not available at all to them yet. Why aren’t all events just rolled out to everyone at the same time? - lastly, and what I find to be most disappointing is that when you report an issue, you get the same canned response from the developers with no actual solution or compensation (for lost items if any). I’ve reported three issues and based on these completely unhelpful responses, I’ll no longer be playing this game. This game needs a complete overhaul with new developers who actually care about the in-game experience!.Version: 52.1.128
✓ Gone downhillI have been playing this game for quite some time - on level 2856 - and have some great pros and some major cons. Pros first - I like the variety of puzzles and the different “games” they feature to play. It adds some fun into the mix every so often. I like my group, however, only a few participate so getting lives can be a struggle. Finally, I like that the game is pretty easy to comprehend and it gives intro when coming in to contact with a new obstacle. Cons - the daily reward for “logging in and visiting” used to come with free play - apparently that’s gone which is super frustrating. I loved those free times on especially hard levels. Some of the powers you use in the game make no sense why they go where they go. For example you could need the pack of flowers and it may grab a singular color nearby that is needed and only hit maybe one of those flowers. Can be very frustrating when trying to beat a level. The game won’t let you play old levels to help either so your kinda stuck getting very little points and never getting the club mvp. ✓ Great, great, greatUpdate: previous gave this game 4 stars! My club is not a fan of the most recent update. The magic strike used to clear just one gem. So if you had a gem bag and a lightning strike separated by one gem, you use the magic strike to bring them close together, then boom. Huge combined power-ups. Now the use of the magic strike clears everything around the gem selected. Terrible idea! There was nothing wrong with the way it worked before. Why are you guys overthinking this? Also, there are nearly enough lives provided in MOST of these puzzles once you get to the later ones. I’m on puzzle 964. Being strategic is something that needs to be done but that’s not enough. For the past few weeks it’s been taking me days to just get by one puzzle and my club feel the same way. The fun has been taken out of this game. Now onto the ranking. Why would you go from the top 5 being premoted to it not being just the top 3? Yet another area that had nothing wrong with it. ✓ You Are About to Lose a Customer…Dear Zynga, Did you know that if you actually let players win few levels in a row on the first try you’ll make more money in the end? You do this for about 100 levels or so, and then you make it extremely frustrating for the player. I am good at these types of games, and when level after level requires multiple paid power-ups to beat them, players lose interest really fast. But, if you actually let players win more often in one or two tries, they will keep playing the game and pay for power ups in order to keep momentum. You are making it so difficult to pass levels that the game is no longer fun. This could be a five star game if you would balance the levels more. I’m tired of it and about to delete it for good. Test my theory and you will keep your customers and actually make more money in the end. If your players are constantly hitting a wall that takes multiple plays to finally conquer, they will lose interest and move onto games that provide more excitement. ✓ Lovely game but pricey and impossibleThe game is great to look at but gets pretty impossible really quick, coins and boosters go really fast and are agonisingly slow to rebuild. I refuse to pay any real cash into games simply because I don’t have the income to do so. To continue a level and use in game coins is 900!!!!! ✓ It’s okSo, it’s a fun game, addictive, no ads, match three type, with lots of HP related features which are sometimes great, sometimes annoying. I like it and will probably play occasionally rather than every day now. It goes from being very exciting and relatively easy at the start, to pretty hard as you move up the levels. It will appeal to both adults and kids because of the HP theme, so my thought is that it’s a bit pricey for kids, and a bit difficult to pass levels without payment, again more of a problem for kids. The cost of extending a level is also excessive. The team thing can be good if you can get with a good crowd, mine are ok, I didn’t know them already but they usually give me lives when asked, as I do, but that’s about it. ✓ Good, when it actually lets you playWhen you’re actually able to play the game, it’s very enjoyable, how ever long and drawn out wait times for new levels to be released means that you spend days without being able to complete challenges and make progress both in the game and the new leagues feature. Overall, they have made this largely unplayable now that I have progressed to higher levels. Not able to replay levels, even spending money in the game doesn’t stop the constant barrage of duplicate cards, and often times when trying to use the power ups that I have spent real world dollars on, the game simply takes them, without allowing them to be used. It’s wonderful how it follows the movies and make the basic match 3 game more entertaining with unique power ups/challenges that come from the stories. However, I’ve learned my fellow players get the chance occasionally to watch video ads for extra moves after failing a puzzle. When I reach out to customer service to find out if I have a setting blocking those, I only get canned answers telling me to “watch for these opportunities as they are random” like I don’t know what I’m talking about when I say I’ve never been presented with this option even though I’ve been playing since day 1. I’ve tried getting through to customer service like three times this week, and never received anything except the same canned response. ✓ Unfortunate UpdateWas quite impressed with how generous, balanced and well thought out this game was. However, a couple of minor changes have made it significantly harder if you don’t buy currency. The Creature Meter which slowly fills allowing a special move, now resets each session. Also, only an officer or leader are able to launch the daily puzzle (MVP used to be able to launch it as well but this has been removed). ✓ A month ago my favorite game now I won’t touch itThis was my absolute favorite game until one day about 3 weeks ago my power ups stopped helping (keys wouldn’t hit the squares needed, magic bags wouldn’t scoop up colors needed, etc) for example I had 1 square left to complete the level, I had several keys, a magic bag, and 8 tries to go. It was a no brainer I would beat the level and all of a sudden they start zapping squares that were of no use to complete the level. Down to my last move I had to use my power up that was below the puzzle to complete the level (and those cost money or take a lot to get.) Also not a single level for the last three weeks has allowed me to “watch” for 3 more moves. Even if I am within 1 move to complete. It will only allow me to pay 900 coins to play 5 more. I could understand if one or two puzzles did that BUT NOT A SINGLE PUZZLE HAS OFFERED IT IN WEEKS it’s getting the point where I either quit or spend actual money and I’d rather quit and find a game that doesn’t do that. The gem counter for what is required to complete the level, I was specifically watching how many I needed, when I removed the gems the counter didn’t take those gems off! Even when I filled the bag with gems, the counter STILL stayed the same, and you wonder why it’s taking sooooooo long to get not past a level, just get past ONE game ! ✓ Overall good game but does have some downsidesI love this game, I’ve been playing it for months. But lately I’ve been discouraged to play because I am not able to unlock new magical creatures. When I first started the game I unlocked two pretty quickly, but I am now at level 631 and I have only unlocked 3 animals out of maybe 10. You have to beat 8 levels to get 3 cards, then you reveal the cards and collect them to unlock certain creatures. Each creature requires 5-6 cards to be unlocked. I have received so many duplicates of cards, and if you get 50 duplicates you can redeem them to open one card but even then I get duplicates. I feel that after collecting 50 duplicates you should be guaranteed to get a card that you do not have. I have even spent money trying to pay for the packs and “legendary” card collections, but I still am stuck with the same 3 creatures that I unlocked hundreds of levels ago. I am quite disappointed with this part of the game and I hope they make some improvements soon or else I will most likely delete the game and stop spending money on it. ✓ Support just gives canned responsesI am not advancing in my events due to 2 issues with ads: 1) ads failing to give credit after I’ve watched them and no chance to watch another ad (watching multiple ads in a row the Watch button is grayed out after I’ve watched the ad) and more infuriating 2) since two updates ago, an ad loads to a black screen and a small disclosure link for Vungle, Inc. There is nothing else to click and no way to get out of that screen except to hard close the app. So again not receiving credit or the opportunity to watch more ads. I’m on IPhone 11 Pro. I contacted Support within the game app and they just gave a canned response about my internet connection and wanted me to send screenshots of the ads I didn’t get credit for. So basically they want me to take screenshots of the Watch Ad screen, the ad itself, and the screen where I don’t get credit This is both time consuming and fills my phone’s memory. ✓ Used to be a daily play but not anymoreThis game is gorgeous, fun, and has excellent Harry Potter nostalgia references. I used to make sure I logged in every day to keep up my streak, because I knew I’d get 15-45 minutes of unlimited lives. Now that Zynga has gotten rid of that option, I’ve lost that incentive. Something I love most about this game is the generous rewards, but watching them scale things back makes the game’s future look dismal. The developers should stop claiming this is to “improve game experience” because it makes no sense. No one wants this. No one hopes to lose out on higher rewards. No one is excited that our gameplay earns less than it did even a couple weeks ago. It only improves YOUR experience as developers because now you’re forcing people to have to pay for things we used to be able to earn with consistent play. If you’re going to try and justify it, then just be honest and say “we want more of your money.” Because I can’t see any other reason for this bizarre decision. ✓ It has potential but I’m annoyedI have a love hate relationship with this game. It can be challenging, which I like, but it can be redundant at times as well. I feel like you don’t get enough coins through gameplay so you get to a point where you feel like you have to spend money. Some levels it seems like you HAVE to have some type of powerup and if you don’t, good luck. I’m okay with a challenge but I also am not the type to try for weeks or months to pass a level. ✓ Fantastic but glitchy paymentAbsolutely loving the game so far! I love HP and connect 3 games so really enjoying this.
