✓ Limited funFair enough, this game is pretty well judged as far as character development, always offering daily progress in a relatively significant way, even if you’re not spending cash on packs. And yet there are two glaring issues that mean it’s a flawed specimen in a crowded genre. First, and most glaringly, the massive crash rate. Any review that’s played this for more than a week before posting will mention this. You lose so many battles simply because the game randomly aborts, and after all this time it’s pretty inexcusable. Second, like many games of this type, you regularly enter a battle that you are higher rated on every level, team rating, squad bonuses, special tactic skills, and yet you get summarily thrashed. There’s no gameplay reason, no game rating clue, it just decides it’s time for you to lose a battle. I’ve regularly fought teams with lower battle ratings and the same squad bonuses at a lower level and been beaten ridiculously. Don’t believe any excuse from the developers - it’s a lazy system that most games use, and it’s simply boring for the player. It’s ok for a bit of idle gaming, but if you’re looking for a serious version of this type of thing, there are loads of better options out there..Version: 1.4.0

✓ Can’t launch the first non tutorial missionThe game wasn’t what I expected it to be but I gave it a chance. I really enjoyed the tutorial voiceovers and cut scenes, they reminded me xcom chimera squad which I was hoping this game would be similar to. The game play of Elite squad isn’t all that entertaining however. I thought I’d play through the campaign to see if it would continue to have an interesting storyline however I could not get the game to load the first non tutorial mission. The game immediately crashed as soon as the first shot is fired. Because of this the game is unplayable and this, combined with uninteresting game play, is why I am give the game 1 star.Version: 1.3.1

✓ Latest update screwed the poochSorry, this was a great game Ubisoft but you really messed up with this update. Previously the one problem was the Arena, you could be against a far inferior team and get beat just, because, no matter how much better your team was, now the combat abilities like shield, air strike etc have been taken and the matches are a whole different ball game. This wouldn’t be so bad but for the time critical matches, matches that were difficult to complete within the time window are now impossible. Not a scrap the game deal breaker, but I certainly won’t be playing till you sort it Ubisoft. You really messed this one up. Edit: Thanks for the update Ubisoft. ✓ Desperately needs different gameplay.While it is fun to collect Tom Clancy characters, the overall gameplay is incredibly slow and boring. “Tactical” is not a way to describe it. “Tap at intervals” is better. I really wouldn’t recommend this game for strategy fans, more to people who like paying money for good characters to win and not having any real skill. Maybe a more door kickers themed approach could really get this game going, if it doesn’t change. This game will surely become like raid, a terrible game with lots of publicity. ✓ Cluttered, repetitive and soulless.From the studio that brought you the critically acclaimed Howrse, comes their next big instalment in the series. They’re taking a bold change by turning all the horses into Tom Clancy characters in their newest breeding game – which is entirely what this game is about. The gameplay loop of the game is to open loot boxes, breed your units, deploy them and watch a battle take place where your input has very little effect. Arena, the player versus player component of the game makes me doubt I’m ever facing another player in a live match because the gameplay is so predictable and the opponent often makes terrible decisions that no straight thinking person would make. Elite Squad is like many other predatory mobile games in that every 5-6 minutes it’ll present you with an option to pay real world money for more and better content. Where the store purchased units and markedly better than ones obtained through the loose ‘Campaign’. Additionally, game is cluttered with numerous trite currencies, tokens and other resources. You have: Gold, money, experience, campaign energy, arena energy, event energy, daily ops energy, auto win tokens, order currency, advanced ORB key, elite ORB key, arena ORB key, territory war ORB key, intel ORB key, basic gear ORB key, advanced gear ORB key, elite gear ORB key, event points, silver prestige, gold prestige and not to mention the dozens of crafting materials used for character equipment. Even with all those I still feel like I’m missing some. Elite Squad is just Raid: Shadow Legends with Tom characters slapped over it. You can’t competitively progress through the game after level 30 and you’re locked out of some events unless you have spent money..Version: 1.3.4
✓ The game is great but...The constant crashing makes it difficult to enjoy. I also spent 80 coda intel and 100k to upgrade coda from a 5 star to a 6 star but she stayed the same level and did not improve therefore I wasted hours of time trying to upgrade her and nothing happened. My account is PT BOWOH #7. If the design team could give me the intel and the money back that would be greatly appreciated but I know this will not happen. The experience has been almost ruined for me now but I will still play every so often just not as much as I would be..Version: 1.3.4
✓ Hits home with characters not so much gameplayI personally enjoy a good Tom Clancy game actually most of them I do including this one for the most part. Some things kinda bother me like how some characters are almost locked behind a pay wall but you are given one out of the 600 tokens needed to get them every so often. It feels like loot boxes never actually give you the highest amount of character cards that it says it goes up to. It also seems like that’s another push for you to buy more gold and unlock tokens in the game. I understand that the game has to make money so it’s not a deal breaker. If you are new to the game get ready for a grind and some of the events won’t be available to you due to the fact you are just not strong enough. It brings back a lot of memories from games I have played over the years but the game play lacks choices. The way to win and to have fun is to either pay up to hundreds of dollars for a competitive advantage, or to grind the game for free and get worse characters than the paying players. I’ve been playing this game since a few days after it was launched, and old bugs and glitches are common. Characters sometimes never fire their weapons and just idly stand in a fight, the game will improperly sync forcing a restart, and many other issues are prevalent. Along with being a pay-to-win buggy mess, it is unbalanced. Some operators are just straight up better in just about every way than others. Some characters are borderline useless, and others can carry an entire game. The game has potential, but it’s imbalance and bugs make it unplayable at the worse and mediocre at the best. ✓ Very disappointing with such a top not h developerI’m writing this review to hopefully gather the attention of both Ubisoft and those looking to play. I’ve been playing several hours and I’m very frustrated now. The game and genre are good, not great just good. This has potential to be a great game that could generate lots of money for Ubisoft however it’s plagued by small and annoying issues. Any one issue can be overlooked but the totality of all of them is what forces me to rate this so low. The first issue is the constant crashing. Second the unbalanced characters and NPCs. I play many games of the team building fighting genre and none are this so out of whack. The pay to win is so obvious it’s nauseating. I’m okay to pay here and there to stay somewhat relevant in the battles but to get through most you have to spend a small fortune. This will severely hamper the longevity of you game Ubisoft, very disappointing. Finally the latency. I run this on several devices, all struggle worh latency even though I’m on gigabit WiFi. ✓ Not what I expected.If you are looking for a game that is “fast paced” or in any way a shooter game as I had expected, this isn’t it. It’s one of those games where you build a team and complete missions by hitting a few buttons here and there while you overlook an underwhelming battle. Don’t take my word for it, I don’t really like these kinds of games and going into it I was expecting a Ubisoft version of mobile Siege. I’m giving it three stars only because I don’t know what it would take to make one of these games good since I think they are all pretty bad in general. ✓ Great Game, A Few Minor Bugs Though!This game is great and there’s no denying it, a mobile game that brings all of your favourite Ubisoft characters into one. It’s very easy at first but then the gameplay becomes more challenging and then you must level up your operators to complete the tasks. There is one small problem that I’ve been facing though and it is the fact that the game keeps crashing, thus kicking me off the game. This becomes particularly annoying if you were in the middle of a match because it doesn’t save progress, forcing you to replay the same mission to continue. ✓ It bad but it’s not an FPS!So I thought this was actually an mobile version of Rainbow Six Siege but it’s not, it’s a squad building game where you unlock various RB6 heroes and then upgrade them. You can play the game F2P but as usual with these types of games it will take you a long time to catch up with P2W but currently I think everything is available to F2P so it’s more of a, pay to get ahead game. If you’ve played this type of game before there’s nothing new, spend energy on the story campaign, upgrade your heroes rarity, upgrade their equipment etc, you’ve also got guild events, arena (pvp). One downside is how unstable the game is, weirdly it doesn’t like me playing on WiFi for some reason as it always hangs, the game is also prone to crashing from time to time..Version: 1.3.1

✓ Could be a lot betterTo start of with, the visuals are really bad and definitely can be improved a lot. Secondly, I do not like the main part of the game as you dont do much except control the perks it would be ten times better if it was actually like Rainbow Six Siege. ✓ New update keeps crashing.Been playing this game for a bit. Almost too much, but the last 2 updates have been filled with bugs. Team members freezing when you their skills. Game crashing near the end of a fight and causing you to loose all possible rewards and energy. I do like the faction bonus feature you’ve added, but the last update won’t let me sign in anymore. I’ve gotten in once out of 10 tries and I couldn’t even play because the load times were taking too long when ever I would go to different area in the menu. Like 2 min plus. ✓ Western Gacha GameThis has nothing to do with Tom Clancy games in style, only the characters used. Problem is, you can’t grind towards your favorite characters but hey, you might be able to buy one for $100 if yours happens to be on sale for a random event. It’s purely pay to play, and you will eventually run out of free “tokens” (Energy in game) that time gates your play. For this reason, it’s not actually a game AT ALL. Look, the west isn’t blind to eastern Gacha game models. They aren’t fun. This game had immense potential with the IP, but you copy/pasted something that just won’t work here. Without overhauling the game, I don’t see how this can be saved. It’s a clear milking of money from the fan base when you need “tokens” (Energy in game) to play. You’re time gated from continuing eventually, at which point you can BUY MORE TIME or wait. If the game isn’t about playing something, then why did you guys bother making it at all? I hope there is some deep introspection done on this team and they elect to refund money and overhaul it into something people would love to play on mobile. Give us the characters we want and sell us holiday themed cosmetics or uniforms. ✓ Good idea, but not quite thereWhen I first downloaded this game, I thought this would be a strategy game, unfortunately there’s no strategy. You fight battles and whoever had the better soldiers won. You cannot really change the tide of the battle through skill. You cannot control your soldiers, which I which you could, and all you do is launch air strikes and give health packs. What I like about this game is the style, for example, the Rainbow characters, I love that, but what I would add is the option to control your units and win using skill and not money. Speaking about money, I know Ubisoft needs to make money somehow, but spamming transactions in your face every time you play the game is outrageous. I would get it if you could buy skins for your units or something, but buying soldiers should not allowed to be bought. All this game is for now is a pay to win and boring game. ✓ Doesn’t feel like you’re playing the game, just watchingVery weird experience imho! For the most part it just feels as though you are watching the game, though you do have 2 buttons to press for abilities that have around a 15sec cool down and the rest of the time your team are auto attacking, which made me feel like my input really didn’t matter! Graphics are ok, nothing special as you are zoomed out and unable to see the fine details of the character, which is fine but in a game whereby you feel like a spectator, it did lower the experience further for me. Menus seemed pretty straightforward with the ability to easily find gear you were after as it listed the missions that the gear was located. You do seem to get a good few extra character early on enabling you to choose your team, though I just stuck with my basic squad. As they seemed to automatically be able to complete the missions as I watched. Overall I think I’ll uninstall this game as I want something that makes me think tactically, something this game doesn’t even seem to try and do! I know there are a lot of “idle” or “AFK’ games out there and this seems like a “semi afk” game whereby you have to be present to constantly choose the missions but then just be the fly on the wall during the combat..Version: 1.3.4
✓ 1.4 ruining the gameI’ve been playing daily since the release and loved it. Until the 1.4 update. They changed soldiers perks and synergies around so any money you spent is now wasted because that team doesnt work anymore. And 1.4 brought game breaking bugs with it. Infinite auto healing soldiers that cant be killed 5v1 like Coda, soldiers like Ash being stuck in an animation and being rendered useless other than a bullet sponge, and most recently for myself, a Sam Fisher with infinite ability charge. (Stuck in the same loop as Ash it would appear but instead he is actually using his ability which is very strong). So that being said, if we could go back to before update 1.4, the game is basically flawless and very competitive and enjoyable..Version: 1.4.0

Still stingy on the end of the arena awards leader board Yay got my stuff back...boo the new update produces some really amazing bugs. 1. Graphics keep jumping all over the place one minute everyone looks like a bin liner with eyes. The next HD graphics 2. Using power ups. They can break so you can't use them and the screen flickers like my first TV when I was 10...but that actually worked. Come on lads stop this terrible give and take.Version: 1.4.4
✓ Good Game But...So first of all I think this game is very fun and exciting to play without having to do the same thing over and over again but anyways it is an exceptional game. Now some issues, I’ve noticed that the entire player base has been getting stuck around 50% umbra and around the 40% allies campaign missions. This is most likely because when you get up to that point, you can only earn 3-6 xp per mission. I believe this leaves players to the bare minimum because one it would take players an excessive amount of team to reach the next level and while they are grinding out there campaign missions, they won’t be able to move forward due to not having a high enough power level and in order to increase your hero’s power level or your teams, you need to level up. Also, some of the awards you receive from for example, ranking up in ranked, are very little and barely help the player move forward in the game. It shouldn’t be that a player needs to become an elite in ranked just to earn a hero. I do think that’s a little ridiculous. As far as bugging and crashes goes, it is not that serious for me as other players say they are getting it but the game runs pretty decent for me. Thank you for reading :).Version: 1.3.1
✓ Odd name registration bug persistsThere is a very specific “bug” that prevents me (& a few others it seems on the Reddit) from playing, which seems to be caused by the “forbidden words list”. I’ve spoken to Ubisoft Support who assured it was either fixed or gave me common work arounds which have done nothing. If i enter my usual name, i get “This text contains one or several forbidden words” however the issue then is, if i enter anything (can be just the letter A), it will say the same thing. Even if i don’t enter my usual name or a variation of Lethal, the bug occurs. I’d like to use my usual name. Giving the theme of the game, i can’t see how Lethal can be considered forbidden either. The sample gameplay was interesting & i’d like to experience more but i’m unable as i can’t get past the name registration screen & it’s been like this since launch. I can’t really recommend the game as i can’t say for certain you wouldn’t run into the same issue when i know people with simpler names experiencing the same bug..Version: 1.3.4
✓ A huge disappointmentWhen I first saw the trailer for this game, I pre-registered immediately. It was marketed as a huge Tom Clancy crossover where you could “command your squad.” I love the tactical gameplay of Tom Clancy games and got the impression from the marketing that this would be an XCOM-like cover-based strategy game. When I finally got to play it, I realized that I had been terribly deceived. Once you start a mission, there are only two actions you can take during combat, called “combat orders” if I remember correctly, which you select prior to the mission. These consist of things like air strikes and shields. Other than that, you have no control over the course of the battle and no control over your squad. They just stand or crouch in front of the enemies on a tiny map and fight a battle of bullet sponges while you watch and wait for the cool down on your combat orders. It’s also very possible to win missions without doing a single thing. It’s essentially an idle game. Tom Clancy must be rolling in his grave. The marketing for this game should have been more honest, rather than throwing in phrases like “cover-based” combat and there ability to “command your squad.” This game was so boring, I decided to delete it after one day of playing it. I exercised as much patience as I could to see if the game would get better or if I had to somehow unlock the ability to control my squad, but I just couldn’t stand it anymore. ✓ Needs a lot of workI’ve been playing this game for over a month and at first it’s enjoyable but after awhile the small bugs, glitches and other issues get seriously annoying. After almost every update when you load up the game everything is missing labels. Loading in the game can take forever and sometimes lead to crashes which is especially annoying when you finish a mission and it starts loading after, crashes and you end up not getting the rewards but still losing your energy. In addition the guild menu can be a mess especially the chat. The chat censors random things for no reason. You could say something as simple as “hey guys I hope we can get some good participation today in the war” and it’ll find something to censor which in turn will block most of what you wrote. Then there’s the issue of in game purchases. I’m not opposed to them, I understand developers need a way to make money but they are ridiculously overpriced and its better to just grind but if you do that it’ll still take you several weeks to get anything useful. I get it’s a mobile game and you need to make progress take a long time in order to tempt people to buy something but at those prices Im much more likely to get bored and just delete the game. There are times when an enemy soldier will just run off screen and everyone stops shooting. All you can do is force close the game and accept you just lost resources entering that battle. Other times everyone just stops shooting and stand there. These things are happening about a dozen times a day. I have lost multiple ranked battles because these things happened and I have to force close the game and reopen it. And when these things happen, it counts as a loss. ✓ Such a grindThis game is fun. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy the take they took on the siege series and the rest of their triple A games. But the problem I have with this game is the mayor grind you hit later on in the game. You run low on energy so quick sometimes and you can’t even level up your heroes because you hit a major drop hole later on with materials. Cause you have to keep leveling up and leveling up each hero to be able to reach the hero level for each mission. Cause if you don’t, you will and can get melted so easily. I never played a game that crashes as much as this one and now I have purchased a bundle the game asks for confirmation and says ok then crashes and I don’t have the items and now I have to go check if I been charged with my other purchases. ✓ Good but unplayable at the momentThe core gameplay is good, I like the general campaign but I find it very difficult to play at the moment due to constant shut downs at the start of or near the end of any mission. I haven’t been able to even touch the arena battles and I’d say half my time spent in the game so far has been repeated due to these crashes. If this gets fixed, and hopefully soon for my sanity, it’s a solid 4/5 stars. It’s especially great for fans of their Tom Clancy titles with any character you could really want most likely being available. ✓ Game issuesEnergy in these type of games are viruses. They drain to fast and hard to recover. Please, make the energy recovery quicker and someone how to replenish than paying 50 gold. Marvel Strike Force energy concept is something to draft off on. Leveling and upgrading characters gear is tedious than other same games within general I have played. It is cheap to level at first, but in early game leveling around 20+ it gets expensive heavily, too early if you ask me. The energy and this combine can make it be a grind where it gets frustrating. WiFi connection issues. I’m next to my router, and even connect to my extended router, but I experience that issue constantly. I’m using Spectrum, which is a terrible... anyways! The gameplay is unique. No targeting manually, but can use a focus fire skill. You have two skills to use and a variety to choose when you continue to level. The battles itself is entertaining to watch, but use the movements of the enemies as your advantage to use AOE (area of effect) skills to do maximum damage. Pay attention to the character skills as it is key for winning the battlefield. Overall, fix those three issues and a five star game on our hands..Version: 1.3.5

✓ Good game... BUT THE CRASHES!!Ok this game is pretty fun. If you like games like swgoh, Raid: SL, Marvel Strike Force, etc. this game has that similar concept. I’m taking off half a star because there isn’t much content yet compared to other similar games. Much of the content is going to be out of reach until like level 60 or if you pay good money to unlock the better characters (I’ve been playing for a week and I’m lvl 30 right now. I’m a f2p player). It’s basically what I think Raid Shadow Legends is except it has TC characters, and that’s just about the only thing that’s gonna keep me playing the game. ✓ The math doesn’t add upIf you downloaded the game for a specific operator or hate the freeium model this isn’t for you. I normally enjoy “free” games but the pay model is so egregious it forces itself as the focal point. There are 13 different currencies in the game, not to mention LTMs so that brings the total up to 18 different currencies ? I have a logistics degree and I literately cannot understand the basics on how to unlock things. On-top of that, there are 77 operators in the game (great!) but to unlock operators you need to RNG stars that you earn five at a time from a lootbox. Keep in mind most ops require 60 stars, your favorites (Sam Fisher, Ash, etc.) will run at 160 stars. So to unlock Fisher you would need to open up 32 chests @ 550 gold each which equals out to be about $4 a box - but oh wait there isn’t a $4 option you can get 250 good for $1.99 or 650 gold for $4.99. So buying the packs of 650, it would cost you $140 just for Sam Fisher.... AND that’s assuming you happen to get his set of stars, each time you open a lootbox you’re fighting against 76 other operators. Can you beat that 1.3% chance of getting 5 stars 28 times in a row??? This is a steaming hot pile of garbage that should be illegal in the United States. There is very little game, it’s all just disguised as a vessel for Ubisoft to take your money. I’m disappointed not as a fan of the franchises but as a consumer and a humanitarian. Disgusting. I’m going to take a shower..Version: 1.3.3

✓ This is... awful? Why would you make something like this?You do more in the menus for this game than you do during actual gameplay. You could say this about a lot of mobile games that involve leveling up and upgrading heroes, but in most of those games, the actual gameplay is engaging enough for what you did in the menus to be worth your time. In this game, the excitement of gameplay and the monotony of tapping through menus have swapped places. The Menus *are* the gameplay and the game play is mostly just waiting, with the only option of interaction being to use the two recharging abilities (airstrikes, healing, etc.) that you’re allowed to bring. You don’t get to use the units you spend time leveling up, you get to watch their boring battle from a bird’s eye view and tap your screen twice about every 10 seconds if your squad really needs you to. And to think, they’re charging $30 for a starter pack. A starter pack for what? There is. No. Game! Unless you’re just way more into tedious menus than you are any level of gameplay that they’re supposed to lead you towards, this non-game is just flat out unfun. And it crashes often. I’m forced to wonder if most of these reviews are just bots. Also, it’s not what motivated this review (and I know it’s getting changed) but that opening cutscene is preeeetty questionable with what’s going on in America right now....Version: 1.3.3
