✓ Harsh MonetisationFirst off, from a development side of things this game is fantastic. Art, design, gameplay even the story is great. If you like Harry Potter there's no reason not to play this game. However... There is a hard Gold cap per day of playing. About 4k. It costs 20k gold to buy a Legendary card on the shop. So you can buy 1 a week, maybe. Through currency conversion, 300 crystals is $8 AUD. That can get you 300 Gems, which can then be converted to Gold at a 1:10 ratio. In other words, it costs $53AUD per duplicate Legendary if you open your wallet. The amount of duplicates you need doubles each upgrade. I've seen players in PvP with 15+ level Legendaries. Thats like $1k dollars in 1 card. These players are literally unbeatable due to raw stats, because card upgrades don't just boost the card but also Player level. Basically, you need to spend insane money on this game to even get to end game or play for literal months. There's no f2p winning strategy here, every p2w player will wreck you guaranteed. And it just makes the game feel awful to play, because if it wasn't so harshly monetised it would actually be a pretty well balanced and fun game. Better than Hearthstone. ✓ Expensive and getting more soIf you just wanna see what they do for story, you can see it all eventually. But if you wanna be competitive or finish all the side stuff or get all the cards, be prepared to shell out hundreds of dollars. Not only that, but the recent update had multiple changes explicitly to make it so that even cheap or efficient ways of getting those things are no longer available, meaning it’s wholly intentional and likely to get worse. Yes, I’m upset that they changed it so that their newly released card can only be bought with money, not with in-game earnings. As to the game itself, it’s reasonable but not outstanding. It’s in a weird spot where the graphics are decent but obviously meant for mobile, the gameplay tries to be a story about kids learning a levitation charm one minute then throwing around fiendfire and crucio in the forbidden forest the next, and all of it wrapped around trying to earn enough gold to actually progress (which is deliberately harder now, unless you spend $).Version: 3.0.21788

✓ Started Out PromisingI started playing this back in 2023 in July. Made many friends as well. However after the latest update its become so money orientated that I cannot be bothered with it anymore. The duels are ridiculous now, i was getting paired with low card users and we were up against 16 plus card level based players. After a barrage of defeats i acted on impulse and deleted my WB account and uninstalled the game. Zero regrets, as the best way to vote is by taking action against greedy corporate entities that outstretch their own greed by punishing you for not always purchasing gems in order to bump up card levels etc. It is a real shame as the game as so much potential. ✓ Ranked duellingEverythings was going pretty good, just started a few days ago and theres been a few glitches where i had to restart a whole plot sequence after finishing it once, and other times where i have had to restart the app to reload it as the HUD wasnt showing up, but i just entered a ranked solo duel against a silver rank whilst im a bronze rank. how is that fair at all? i lost my 13 win-streak to their 26 win-streak like obviously. whats the point of ranks/leagues if im still able to match with people that are above me in levels and skill..Version: 3.0.21609
✓ SubtitlesIs it possible to add more subtitles in the game? I had to change my Apple account to another country to download the game with traditional Chinese subtitles but I cannot get into another server from other continents. But the European version doesn’t have the same Asian server. So if I play in traditional Chinese version, I have to play the app from Asian App Store but I can not play with my friends in Europe. ✓ WandsI have a Wizarding World account, and I signed into it before I started the game thinking it would connect my wand from my Wizarding World (WW) account to the game that way I would get the wand from my WW account. However, that is not the case apparently it chooses for you at random. Personally, I think this is very unfortunate because other Wizarding World games such as Hogwarts Legacy does let you connect and play with your WW account wand, even Hogwarts mystery gives you some options to choose from. Perhaps this might not seem like a big deal to some players. However, having the options to choose (especially in Harry Potter games) things such as selecting a house, wands etc. the really big things that make up the wizarding World, makes players feel like they are contributing to the way they want to play the game and it also makes them feel empowered. I hope that at some point they consider and maybe change this in the game so you can either connect your WW account to the game and be able to choose your wand that way or at least give you some options to choose from..Version: 3.0.21788

I’ve been playing this game for over a year now and there have been couple of times where the game glitches and I’ve been lucky enough to delete it, restart it and come back into the same game. I even switched phones and the same account came back. Recently I had a glitch in the game and I tried to delete the app and reinstall it, only this time It had completely reset. After trying to delete it and redownload I still can’t seem to find my past game. ✓ Fun Game, Terrible PricesI’ve played this game every day since launch. I have my own social club full of irl friends and a full dorm of active player friends! I have a lot of fun playing this game. Unfortunately, this game is very predatory. The shop prices are absolutely bonkers. It costs thousands of dollars to get “loyalty rewards”. One spin on a wheel is equivalent to I think about 2.50nzd, and you get the worst items. Players were averaging 30-40 spins on it until they got a single item they were spinning for, which there are four of, the other items are trash filler currencies that don’t actually do anything. The “season pass” is 20nzd and has nothing worth paying for in it. Anytime a shop item is released, they’re almost always $25+ for a key, a chat emote, and a random cosmetic. Very disappointed with the prices. Won’t be buying any of them. Will continue playing for free and getting beat down by p2w players in duels despite me being top 100 in my country..Version: 3.0.21788

✓ Lost account, progress, and money after the maintenanceSeems like it happened to many people that they lost accounts after the maintenance. I saw it on another community group and they didn’t even care to help. I thought this game is going to be the only game I love to play, so I spent money on the game to buy things because I enjoyed playing so much. After the maintenance, I unable to log back in and it turned out that I lost my account and all progress I made. Contacted their support, provided everything they asked for. It’s been a while then they said they can’t help anymore. I still don’t understand why they committed they will help, but they won’t. They keep changing people to deal with problems, and they don’t even pay attention to read their team just said earlier. If you just want to try this game just for fun for a short minute, yes, it’s a good game. ✓ I’m not sure anymore…I was playing this game every day and I had to take a break because it was getting frustrating. I completed the years before the gameplay that’s currently going on now was released. In hard times with the economy, it’s near impossible to throw the amount of money at this game that it’s basically all but demanding for you to get fair game play. You get capped in gold for duels but yet you need gold to level your spell book. You used to get gold from the flying car, now you do not. So it makes it harder and harder to level your spell book to meet the requirements to continue playing. When you go to duel, you can CONTINUOUSLY get matched with people far outside of your ability. And then you lose all your points for nothing. It’s like, why try? So, I took a break. I came back. And there’s minor differences. Not enough that I think I can get continuous game play. The forbidden forest was grinding and not rewarding comparing to your effort. Daily mission is short and not rewarding. Only thing minor enjoyable is the dueling experience until you get matched with someone able to using banned cards and you are not allowed to use, and imaging getting matched with them back to back not mentions sometimes you’ll get bots as teammate. It was indeed a challenge mission. Quickly uninstalled and will never come back, especially seeing the status of original Chinese server. ✓ Love it but not f2p friendlyI used to enjoy this game from the first day it was released to global. The graphics and art style are both beautiful and unique! I love that you can customise your character, do social activities with other players and explore Hogwarts. However, after almost a week of playing, there isn’t much you can do but daily quests and duelling. You’ll get bored eventually. Also this is hugely a pay to win game, which I’m not surprised though given that this is WB. Duelling with people who whale on this is very hard since they have more higher level cards to battle with so good luck trying to climb your way up the ranks. This game had a lot of potential and I truly enjoyed playing it when I first started but now WB is putting almost everything behind a pay wall. Unless you want to grind like there’s no tomorrow or throw a large amount of money into this game, don’t waste your time playing this. ✓ It’s OkHonestly, it's a good game to play casually. Like, 10 minutes a day. If you don’t space it out, you’re going to fly through the actual content like I did. Now it’s just a waiting game for Year 3. A lot of bored dancing and running around trying to find chests. It also got really hard REALLY quick. Year 1 was fine, but going to Year 2 and now waiting, everything costs a LOT. Leveling up your book costs WAY more gold than it should, and you NEED to level up your book and cards if you’re ever going to defeat anything in the game. Even little things like the Dancing Club gets hard. Once your dances are at level 5, they’re nearly impossible to do because it goes SO fast. There’s also some MAJOR bugs in the game. Almost every time I open the shop, the app crashes. It also glitches and freezes during duels and dances, which of course only makes them harder. What I hate: 1)Forbidden Forest solo and team with over the top creatures,claustrophobic move and annoying views, that take for ever to do or kill. Longer you fight the worse it gets. 2)Dueling other regions especially those who have full game and additional perks. I played over 700 duels first season mostly duo, and then other regions like Europe and Asia came in and the amount of experience and levels of deck showed…no way to advance to GM. 3) Chat is annoying, auto correct, censored without knowing what word was triggered, this is really draining on long sentences. 4) Not enough for those who love to explore every part of map, trying to find, discover new things. Where are the butterflies and flowers? Like to see the chest and pots spawn randomly fixed timer not all at once. Pretty much found all in season two after upgrade. 5) story is short and disjointed. More a collection of getting to know NPC’s and maybe show the deck cards. No overall big story plot. 6) bugs turn up, and somethings cannot be resolved due to soft launch. Eg still have problems starting in runes class, second go never happens. Or sometimes works. Kicking inactive dorm. 7) Why cant free to play set up stuff in bank? Pink gems so much money or gems. 8) encourage teaming up, more incentive to help others. 9) sort out moving and view. You have pretty much four styles - broom, Walking, team, and forest. 10) Move needs to be not so jerky and quick very hard to take cam pics or close into someone and angle avatar to lens. 11) Dance gets very aggressive to catch up to, I shake the screen or swipe game away! Lose track very quickly and no idea direction to go lvl 5+? What I love 10) NPC’s not very helpful, I find it a struggle despite trying to gain lvl affinity and still do not improve actions. 1) Graphics have given a great mood and style grows on you. 2) music fantastic, including dance music 3) finding new things like monster book, bat, flower teapot etc. Want to see more in wilderness 4) finding good players you can talk to, not just do things with. 5) Deck animation fantastic. EDITED: Global version is VERY BUGGY! Constant crashes in the shop, chat still needs sorting. Sent tickets. No change. Probably the most bug ridden apps Ive seen in Apple Store. I tried to help build a community in the past four months as a fp2, but in end despite some toxic players evolving not all players see the whole game other than dueling and forest. Having the bug return last straw and having crashes averaging 8 times a day, with a support that needs to keep ticket replies of extra info as one not open up another ticket and keep making new ones. Ive tried all their suggestions, many times but on ipad it kept coming back The censor is got out of hand and despite not breaking rules keeps coming up no idea what for, all because I posted a six hundred word on homepage that I knew had no sensitive wording. If you want to stay high in ranks you will need to pay, this game has no adgenda than to milk and encourage gambling to progress. Ive watched how players have divided. At beginning we were all helping each other, but for a game that drip feeds global with bug plagued upgrades despite sorting out everything in asia, makes me question the direction this game is going. What l’m seeing short term gains that will not be sustainable long term, developing a community is only way this game will progress. ✓ Takes Up Massive Amount of SpaceThis game is dope, ngl. but the amount of space it takes up is insane. it says it takes up 3gb, but each day it downloads more and more, lil bits at a time. i've been playing for about a month and am only just starting year3, and the game is taking up over 10gb on my tablet. and, if it doesn't have enough space, then the game simply won't even open so i've had to uninstall almost everything else on my tablet to make room for this. i'm at the point where I only have one more app I can uninstall before im out of options and won't be able to play this game anymore. makes me glad I've never spent more than $10 on it. won't be spending more, because it seems i won't be able to play much longer. while i appreciate the attempt to bring an intricate game to mobile apps, theres a reason people save this level of game power for consoles and PC. not only is it inherently inaccessible to low income people who can't afford spacious devices, but this isn't sustainable. it might start with people like me who have a smaller amount of space on our devices (32gb) but, at the rate of space accrual you're going, your entire userbase is going to be having this problem within a year..Version: 3.0.21850
✓ Has PossibilitiesAs a former HP:Wizards Unite fan I am somewhat reluctant to invest too much of myself in this new game from WB, lest they pull the rug out from under us yet again. So far, it has great possibilities but the movement controls are awkward and the basic gameplay could use a LOT more explanation. Sometimes, text appears then disappears too fast to read, rewards are received but it is not clear how to use many of them, and echo use needs a significant tutorial. Decks are recommended but only when you try to select one will it tell you you did not yet have the necessary cards. This makes no sense to recommend something one cannot use. Most annoying is the constant effort to sell upgrade packages, but why the heck would I throw money into buying items I don’t know how to use? I expect this game can, and should, get better but right now there is way too much to process without adequate information so it is quite frustrating. Art design is good, with nice options for building your character and allowing players to keep their chosen house, should they not be happy with the Sorting Hat’s decision. ✓ It’s not for me.I love the HP universe and tried virtually every game possible in the franchise, but I can’t get into this one. I want to start off with positives though, I love the art style, and the voice acting for the girl MC is so cute. Costumes are very nice and the classes and companion system is a nice touch. Love the voice lines everyone has when doing tasks together in the forbidden forest, or the classroom. I also enjoy the roommate system and the simple decor in the dorm, it’s a nice social feature and the easy access for dailies is convenient. The negatives (for me). I don’t like that the controls don’t feel smooth, and the way you get blocked off from the story quite quickly is off-putting. The steps aren’t enjoyable for me, and losing a few steps to a cluster of 20 enemies in the way quickly makes a fight annoying. I also don’t enjoy how expensive everything is, and how little you get from the first-time packages. 300 gems for one key is a bit ridiculous, especially since upgrading a single card doesn’t seem to offer anything different that I know of. I’m not a big fan of the story either. It’s all over the place and the characters aren’t interesting enough for me to remember them. Some parts just seem too silly to take seriously when it’s supposed to be. I still don’t remember some names. I think it’s a cute game to play for a little while, but long-term, I’m not sure. When I downloaded it (and all of the other downloads required in the game) all I could do was go to Diagon Alley, get sorted and go to the dueling club. ✓ Two major issuesTL;DR while the art and gameplay is fun, I have zero audio, and did not receive the promises pre-register gifts I’ve enjoyed the graphics and gameplay, but I have two major complaints. The first, and most important, is that I have zero audio. I did go into the extra downloads thing and downloaded everything, including the option “audio” (and why audio is considered an extra instead of a feature bothers me). However despite downloading the audio, I haven’t gotten any. I’m a little bit into the game, having just started the first flight mission, and haven’t heard a single sound, and have had to rely on subtitles. ✓ It’s aightThe art and design is gorgeous, relatively similar to Identity V. The animated scenes are quite jumpy and can get quite laggy. The character design got a bit confusing but I still think there were some gorgeous options. But when standing in the checkout line at the store getting some Funions, the game glitched out and sent me to my Home Screen. I didn’t really care at the time, because this happened to me a lot. But when I go back to keep playing, it asks my age. But then I clicked “enter Hogwarts” and the cutscene you see at the beginning of the game starts playing. Then I realized that somehow, my progress and account was deleted. This is VERY disappointing, because I collected every Legendary spell and summon card and the Hermione Legendary companion card. Do you how tempting it have golden keys and not using them? And saving all the gold you possibly can to buy Orb of Water, without spending a dime? I spent time to get those cards, so to make sure the same thing doesn’t happen to you, I’d recommend not getting to deep in to the game or spending any money before this is fixed. ✓ So pretty, but so many bugs.I was very excited to hear of this games release. It is visually stunning. However, there are so many random crashes and bugs that it is difficult to play at times. In Diagon alley all of the people roaming about look exactly the same, which is a bit unsettling and jarring. They need to be much more versatile. To give it life I think there should be small groups of students and families. At least add some wizards. Why did you use the same sprite for everything? As it is, it seems sloppy. Moodier lighting in diagon Alley might also bring a feeling of warmth to it, it’s lacking the nostalgic comfort of the original Harry potters. That section of the game is embarrassingly lacking. It doesn’t seem complete. There is also an overarching empty feeling as you play. I suspect this is because there is not enough NPCs to fill up the world, leaving a lot of empty space. The NPCs that are there all look exactly the same, it is particularly bad during the duelling scene where the crowd are basically stick figures. This needs to be resolved. A lot of people get bottle necked by the gold required to update decks as the few ways of making gold free can be a total grind of many hours just to slightly update it. The game is also super buggy, closes up a lot on people and you will see chat reflect this a lot. For example I was about to kill the last boss in Deathly Hollow and it stopped working. ✓ SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENTOnce again we have another “pay to progress” app that doesn’t allow you to get anywhere without spending money which is completely tone deaf considering the state of the world. The duelling system is ridiculous and it constantly puts you against someone with higher levelled skills and takes off your points if you loose so what is the point? Bosses in explorations and in quests are ridiculously overpowered and not in line with lore at all. You cannot get past quests when the bosses instantly kill you or are constantly summoning minions and it’s impossible to level up when you keep getting the same repetitive petty reward drops at the end. Customisation is the biggest let down. As a person who is mixed the skin tone options are dismal. The hair choices, or lack thereof, are poor and the fact that you can’t even customise your own wand is ridiculous. Not even close. They have this gold cap for the duels, where you only get 500 gold a day & class tasks give you NO gold. If you buy the Magic Pass you get some but not near enough. I needed 18,000 gold to upgrade my cards, with a 500 gold cap & the small amount in the pass it didn’t add up to enough. Soon as I saw that I had to buy gold to lvl up my cards in order to continue playing this game, I thought NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Times are hard as it is right now, my money is for bills, rent & food. Not, for games like this. Where they reel you in & let you play for the first part then force you pay in order to continue. Main story These modes are quite interesting, but also quite repetitive and easy to get bored after several days (I, personally, found it less entertaining after about 10 days). What I like about this game: 1. Awesome art style the game has. 2. Plot of the main story. 3. Visual effects of the spells. 4. In-game costumes and other materials look quite nice. 5. Good combination of different game modes (E.g. duelling, dancing, etc.) What I think the game is lack of: 1. Not much places to explore (only small area in Diagon alley and Hogwarts). 2. Not very connected to muggle worlds, feels like an isolated cage. 3. Repetitive in each game mode, though it’s interesting and featured at the beginning. 4. Lack of magical charms and deck combination. 5. Lack of skins and materials. ✓ Ban system stinks. Solo Exams are too hardI made it through the ranks (Up to Platinum) with very limited amount of cards (I’ve been playing for 7 days). Now I find out my main card was banned this week, and could possibly be banned every week (player votes determine what card will be banned each week which is dumb). Do you guys understand you can not ban cards when there are only like 20 cards in the whole entire game? (I’m over exaggerating obviously). Banning 2 cards per week in the early ranks especially is asinine, save that for grandmasters. Or let players ban 1 card pre match. My friends can help me in class but not on the Exams? C difficulty is easy but after that it gets way too difficult. A difficulty doesn’t even make sense. It just screams “spend money on the game or grind for weeks! ✓ Constant frustrating battleIt stopped being fun after the first year. There was one scene that was very frustrating that I got past and hoped that was a fluke, but no. Every scene and action to progress further requires you to battle and each battle takes a frustrating 20-30 tries to defeat. And when/if you do, it’s mainly luck. The game is very buggy, but for a new game, I guess that’s kind of expected, I just thought that spelling, grammar and movement issues would have been addressed in beta. So after several hours of play, I’m about ready to pass on it. When a game stops being fun, that’s when I stop playing it. I had hoped for more puzzles and logic problem solving or Harry Potter trivia. Not so much. Some trivia in the classes, but not much. It had the potential to be a well balanced game for many tastes, but missed that mark. I can’t recommend it to anyone who enjoys a casual, fun game- this is not it- disappointed..Version: 3.0.21788

✓ FunI am enjoying the game. Great social side to it. However, it has lots of bugs and glitches which takes away some of the enjoyment from the game play. It is still in its infancy so the developers get a pass, for now. If they don’t fix the bugs then there are better ways to spend your time than constantly reloading the game..Version: 3.0.21850
✓ GlichI was really excited to play this game after watching to video above however it unfortunately didn’t work as the only way I could leave my dormitory was to do to the duel club which was a big let down because that means I couldn’t explore any of Hogwarts. ✓ WeirdI will say that tho the game is pretty good, love the art and the gameplay. I have used those red keys and bought a bunch of cards, the last 2 times I used them it bugged out and closed the game, when I went back into the game I had no red keys left and didn’t seem to have bought the cards, even though I did before the game turned off. ✓ Has potential but GlitchyFantastic concept and design. Love the references to the books movie and exploring hogwarts. But it’s glitchy, crashes often and the amount of space and data required are extreme and a bit far fetched. Bit disappointed as a hardcore HP fan as can get easily addicted to the duals, collecting cards and joining classes but nothing worse than the app crashing midway. Or getting a notification saying I need even more space for ANOTHER data update..Version: 3.0.21850
