✓ Fun but…..Fun game but the time to gain energy etc is soooooo long. Assaults are fun but why the long wait to regenerate energy to play?!? So much potential for more fun characters, but the development of the game is very slow. Should have more battle quest rewards. You get to a point where it’s just recruitment tokens over and over. Opening the vaults is not fun. Too many useless characters. If you have to wait until pull #100 to get a gold, what’s the point? I’ve opened tons of recruitment vaults and not one new Batman character. Please move the game along faster..Version: 1.1.38
✓ Glitchy Cashgrab - DC Legends ended for this😡🤢It’s just another Match 3 game with a gambling system, so if you want to pay over $100 for a bunch of gems which will not guarantee you’ll get the character you want this game is for you. If this was just a paid game where you can either choose from all the characters already unlocked and pay for new characters with a season pass I’d keep it, because with the visual effects of the characters’ powers and having to defeat heroes and villains a la Injustice it is fun. Since the game is just another money grab, rip off, and because there are already glitches where I’ve tried playing a level and it suddenly stops - even on auto play it won’t work just has a shadow over ir, not to mention I played a level finished with a “great job” and received no rewards, I’m deleting this game. If I can have Supergirl, Power Girl, Mary Marvel and Stephanie Brown-Batgirl to have without spending hundreds of dollars trying to - and potentially ending up with thugs and henchmen and not actual DC super heroes and villains - then I’ll be back. It is a real shame this is what is taking over for DC Legends. DC Legends was an immense cash grab too - sad it only gets really fun and accessible when it’s leaving - but overall it was a better experience and you actually had so many characters to choose from and not have to gamble you’d get them. All the choices for a character and levelling them up. I hope a better DC a game comes out soon because right now this and Injustice are just increasingly pay to win games that take away from the fun of DC characters you love..Version: 1.1.38
✓ Keeps bugging and freezingI love this game and i have an iphone 14 pro max and this game keeps on bugging and freezing just out of nowhere. I lost my daily log in bonuses and tournaments cause of that. Its TRULLY frustrating that its doing so, even i cant fully log in to my game anymore. ✓ The game is ok I guessThe game itself isn’t bad, in fact it’s a nice time waster if you like DC but there are issues with the game that I’ve experienced while playing over the last week or so. Almost every time when I am buying a material from the store, the game says I have bought it but when I go to use it to make an item to upgrade my character, it says I don’t have any of that material. So it takes your coins but doesn’t give you anything. It’s happened multiple over the last couple of days. I’ve gone and spent the majority of my coins on buying “enhanced ionized plasma” for poison ivy and I go to use it and it says I don’t have any left. I JUST SPENT 150’000 COINS FOR NO REASON!!! There needs to be some sort of inventory system so I can see how much of everything I have and it would me better understand what materials I need. An inventory similar to games like Marvel Content of champions so I can see how much I have of every material would help a lot. If this game didn’t have characters from DC and was all original characters, there wouldn’t much reason for me to play the game cause if you are looking for a candy crush style game then I’d simply just play candy crush over this, but for me only redeeming aspect of this game is that I get to use characters that I love from DC. But even then, Mr Freeze, Red Hood, Darksied, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Green Lantern, Bane, Starfire, Black Adam, Shazam, General Zod and should all be in the game. They could have chose any of those characters to put in but they picked Parasite and Amanda Waller. Overall the game is fine for a DC fan but a casual player who doesn’t care much for DC wouldn’t find this game to be all that interesting..Version: 1.0.18

After you complete trial season pass they unlock another banner that has character you want. You pay 50% more in price compared to other gacha game or other games in general. They just as bad as raid shadow legends. Just go look at the better business bureau, mostly negative from customers. Like they keep charging you and appears they will refuse a refund for them. They will tell you to make sure to turn on two step purchase to stop the extra charges to card. Other reports of people losing items they purchased. I WOULD RECOMMEND STAYING AWAY FROM JAM CITY. They keep having problems. I bet they even buy fake reviews. Most reviews should be at least a 4 star as all games are not perfect and I found a few websites you can pop in a few dollars per review and it be done the next day. Just an automated response saying since I didn’t respond, the issue will be closed. Progress is very slow, no timers on when things will recharge, no confirmation on store purchases leads to accidental purchases (with in game currency). Instant grind game after the first day. You have to grind/farm levels you have already completed for multiple days in order to advance your power level enough to take on the next challenge. Not surprisingly getting five star heroes requires payment. I did get a developer response, but it was simply a redirect to an FAQ page. Update. Got thru the fight with Raven. Minimum fight level/rating went up to 9k! It took me three weeks to get from 4 to 5K. It’s going to take months of pointless grinding to get up to 9K. Not worth it..Version: 1.3.12

As there was no straightforward way to deal directly with the Developer, I reached out to Apple and asked for a refund but they only refunded the one item and said that the second one was not eligible for refund without giving any reason. They then said I can appeal the decision so I asked for the option to have the purchased package added to my game but they hit me again with “Not eligible for refund” without any explanation. I am obviously very devastated to have lost £9.99 and hope that the Developer reads this and does something about as I cannot afford to throw money away and have lost complete confidence with in-app purchases. ✓ Great game but locked out for over 4 days and customer service has been awfulOne of the best phone games ever but sadly I cannot play anymore. On February 21st 2024 my game locked me out and I can’t get past the loading screen. I contacted the support team to which I got an automated email saying someone would respond to it within 24-48 hours. After almost 72 hours I finally got a response and all they said is they are working on it. It’s now February 25th, 2024 and my game still doesn’t get past the loading screen and no one has told me anything. I’m extremely frustrated and have spent well over $100 on this game. I’m not entitled to anything and don’t feel the need to be refunded or gifted anything for the inconvenience. However, I am a business owner of my own and if I treated a customer like this I would feel awful, refund the customer entirely and gift them if they still did want to play. But all I get is a wimpy email and no further action. I’m very sad with how this is all playing out. I hope to return to this game one day. ✓ Now releasing multiple versions of charactersThe developers just released a new update that includes a second version of Batman. This is ridiculous seeing as any of us who already had the first version may have spent a lot of time (and money) upgrading it. If they want to make changes to characters, it should be an update to existing characters. I’ve found it odd how many of the characters are treated as part of only one team (which grants bonuses when using those characters together) when they may be parts of multiple teams. For example, the first Batman is the only member of the “Batman Family” team despite Nightwing and Robin being available and isn’t part of the Justice League team. This second Batman is now part of the Justice League. Now I see that the plan was to force players to spend more money on multiple characters to complete teams. I’ve been enjoying this game but it seems like a real bait and switch. I’m not spending anymore money for upgrades now that I know purchasing a character or investing in the characters I have is a waste..Version: 1.1.34

✓ Has potential but has some annoying bugsAs the title it has some bugs which are frustrating. First it’s a puzzle game meets a character progression/ gacha style game. What makes it frustrating is that some times you like fighting 11 waves of enemies and your down to the last one and the game freezes. As in those style of games you also have an energy bar which gets depleted when you play levels. Well once it freezes you lose that energy because you either have to hard reset or flee the game. ✓ Broken!!!! Pay to win nonsense!To start off, I really enjoy the premise of this game. I like the characters, the gameplay is very easy and fun. I enjoy leveling up my characters. However that being said this game is garbage! Like from a structural perspective. The game crashes all the time it barely works and on top of that there is a heavy cap to this game. Everyday I play this game because I do enjoy it, or at least I would like to when it works, but I just make very little progress when I do. I never write reviews for games but this game is so broken I had to vent about it so maybe someone will see it. On the other hand some minor issues I want to point out is the rates for drawing for the characters. Maybe i’m unlucky but I just get so many duplicates of the small characters and I can’t seem to get any of the higher tier characters unless I’m willing to pay for it, which i’m not! Overall the game needs to be fixed, allow for more play time, and be more forgiving toward free to play players. P.S. I would like to see more characters if the game is ever fixed. I got to Gotham 4-3 to be able to 2x the speed of gameplay but when I close the app and reopen it, progress is lost and says I haven’t done Gotham 4-3 and sends me back to Gotham 4-1. It’s really annoying to have progress lost because I would have done a bunch of other things before closing the app and then going back into it to find a lot of my progress was reset to a certain point. ✓ Good concept, Poor Execution: Yet another cash grabAs the title says I enjoy the concept of the game. I’m even a fan of match 3 games. However the glaring issue is level scaling. After the first 5-6 levels, it takes WAY too long to get another level. Which normally isn’t an issue if it’s just a “Player level” situation. But since your characters can only be as high as your overall level, it means you have to grind through multiple days of side quests to get your level up just to be able to be powerful enough to beat ONE MORE story level. If I can’t even play for 1 day without getting level-walled, or being forced to pay real money, you’re instantly not a 4 or 5 star game. Add onto that the fact that it constantly pushes the pay to play pop ups on you, and the glitches, and a battle pass which is more expensive than most other gacha games, and the energy system which slows down your progress even more, etc etc. This game falls so short of other games that it’s laughable. I enjoyed my first few hours but I’m so glad I gave it a few days before deciding my review because once the initial cool-factor wears off you see it for what it really is. ✓ Buggy - Lost what I paid for, don’t bother downloadingI paid for the game’s Battle Pass, which offers premium rewards and gives access to unlock exclusive characters as you progress in the game through the month. In the latest update, the Battle Pass reset 24 hours early, preventing me from getting the premium capsule keys to unlock a Battle Pass Capsule JUST as I was about to unlock a 5-star premium character such as Superman. This was the entire reason I bought the Battle Pass. I opened a chat ticket with their support team, but they said they can’t respond for 48 hours, meaning my Battle Pass will expire before I can get that 5-star character. ✓ Needs Clear Inventory or Item NamesThe game is awesome. All the other comments can tell you the positives. I just have 1 thing would make the game feel a lot less malicious. I don’t believe this to be intentional, but I believe it needs revision. Inventory quantity of your items, are shown in the shop, in small print under the icon of the item for upgrading. Enlarging that font would probably be pleasing for most. But the main thing would be the naming of said item. So far in the game I’ve seen 3 variations of the the same picture. We need clarity so we can stop buying the wrong item. The name can be found in a characters specific upgrade chart when trying to “find” them, but when buying in the shop it’s just an ICON. ✓ Fun but you are meant to payAt the beginning, it’s pretty fun with a surprisingly wide range of DC characters. However, once you complete the trial/orientation phase and start to get into the meat of the game, they put huge roadblocks in front of you. One level will be relatively easy and then the next will require you to advance 5 levels or so to move on. Advancing levels is not easy and if you choose to actually play rather than simulating, it gets really grindy, really quickly. From there, it’s obvious that they expect you to fork over some $$$ so that you can buff up your characters and advance. I’m sticking with it for now but I foresee this getting old..Version: 1.0.18

✓ Fun but flawedWe suffered through the disappearing gems, the overlapping gems, the frozen game boards but now the latest update has the game just closing itself randomly during gameplay. This costs stamina which can be purchased with diamonds which can be purchased with real money and so while I have not spent any money (I’ve wanted to buy the game is far too buggy to invest real currency into) people are losing actual money to these bugs. The game is fun, the audio design is great it feels a little unbalanced and favors “auto win “ to actually playing the game if you want to progress at a nice pace. The jumps in difficulty are discouraging sometimes but it’s understandable because if you could just beat everything there’s no reason to buy items. ✓ Updated review: Fun and FrustratingI really am enjoying this game now that the game freezes and crashes have for the most part been resolved. And while I very much appreciate the puzzle / challenge of putting together the right team for particularly tough story mission, there are a few bottlenecks that boarder on ridiculous. Basically, your story progression can be stopped cold for a week or two until you grind out more levels in other parts of the game and/or you have the luck to pull one of the few 5* characters whose abilities will help you pass the mission. To have these types of bottlenecks, in my opinion, is simply bad game design. Sure, I can understand a few days of grinding, but nonstop for two weeks, unless you pay large sums of money to advance your characters? No thanks..Version: 1.1.15

Buy-ups are ridiculously expensive. $30 bucks to get a temporary premium package that does t really give you much I’d a complete rip-off. I bought it once & felt remorse. I constantly have issues, with it locking up and freezing, requiring me to close the app and then reopen it. Sometimes I will lose currency or chances when this happens. Recently I had an issue with spending gems for capsules, and I didn’t get what the game itself said I should receive. I contacted support and the only help I got was them telling me that I am confused, and then they moved on. ✓ Fun but expensive and buggyI’ve been enjoying playing the game and like checking in a couple times a day. One glaring problem is that the battle pass and other paid additions are WAY too expensive. Shooters can get away with a $15 battle pass because they are more interactive than this game. This battle pass should be no more than $5 due to the nature of the game itself. I bought the first one but will not buy others until the price drops. I’m still having issues with bugs. The bug that closed the app during battles seems to be gone. I don’t think it has happened recently. I do still have issues with items in my profile not clearing the “new” flag. That’s very annoying. Several super moves also still have sound when used with the sound off (Artemis Grace, off the top of my head). That can be rough on the ears if you have headphones in..Version: 1.1.15

✓ Buggy as hellThis game feels like a weak version of a marvel puzzle quest knock off. But I prefer DC to marvel but the game is buggy as hell. Constantly freezing on my iPhone 14 and half the time the game just forgets to load the next frame. An enemy will disappear but u can still move gems around just no one to hit. You may also have to worry about the team you were working on for 6 months or your most recent purchase to suddenly get nerfed. This game has a lot of potential, but it’s seeping with Jam City’s need for a quick buck & it’s a shame, it may be too late for them to go back to the drawing board & come back with a far less short-sighted business model. ✓ Deleted my characters and progressGame feels like it wasn’t mean to be released yet. I was lucky and got 4* huntress and 4* killer croc from single premium capsule pulls. Then I got 2000 gems and bought a premium capsule. Got lucky again and got 5* Harley Quinn, 4* Donna Troy, and 4* black lightning. Used them to finish the first 4 worlds with 3*s. Then next time I log in? All gone! And my progress was reset to just before I got any of those characters. Even better, I had big banner offers to to buy upgrade packages for all the characters the game had just stolen from me. It also clearly showed I had done 18 premium capsule pulls, so it counted me as doing it, just didn’t let me keep any of the characters. ✓ 5+ months play review.3 months ago I would have given this a higher review but as you get to the high levels, you get less rewards and they make it more difficult for you. I don’t know why they wouldn’t keep the rewards the same or more as you get to a high level but if feels like they are punishing you for playing a lot and getting to the higher levels. At the PvP level I’m at, you basically no longer get meaningful rewards but a downgraded version of the previous levels rewards. It makes no sense. If you plan on playing for the long haul, then I wouldn’t. If you want something semi-enjoyable for a few months, by all means, this is the game for you. I did basically “free to play” it which is good. I purchased the battle pass twice which provided a decent amount of rewards and with patience I was able to slowly get the the Justice League as my team so that’s a positive..Version: 1.2.9
✓ Fun but difficulty curve hits immediatelyThis game is very fun, one of the better match 3 style games on the App Store. But the difficulty curve wastes no time at all. The amount of resources and pulls you get do not compare to the very fast spike in power the enemies get. You’re going to spend a lot of time waiting for energy to spend 2 minutes in the app to autowin levels just to level up, since your characters can only level to your player level. But then you have to wait hours on hours for the levels with the resources you need to refresh. Unless of course you pay to win. Good game but ruined by micro transactions like most mobile games. ✓ Great game but…Since the last update the game crashes so much which wastes my stamina as you don’t carry on from where you left off if it crashes. ✓ Bugs and ImbalancedGame crashes every now and then during matches. I’m on an iPhone 14 Pro Max, so it ain’t my device. The game is also horribly balanced in a way that makes crafting and literally playing the game come to a complete slow crawl. You need energy to play matches, you need to play matches to farm specific material so that you can upgrade your characters. The problem is the DROP RATE is ludicrously bad, so you’ll be using up all your energy to farm just ONE material. Then the next big problem is the game makes you wait 8 HOURS to play those matches with the specific materials you need once you played the max amount of matches. It’s obvious they balanced it this way so that the player must purchase crystals. ✓ Not a competitorThere are a lot of puzzle games out there. Marvel Puzzle quest is my personal favorite. The design of this DC game just can’t compete. You find yourself constantly running out of energy, and hitting points where all you can do is autofarm until you’re powerful enough to tackle the next level. It feels very restrictive and the only way to move forward is through long waits or paying money. And speaking of money, the prices here are high. Even compared to other games you are not getting much for your investment. ✓ Half-bakedIt’s a common style of game, seems to have the right general design direction. However, it has a few bugs in the core gameplay, some leading to it regularly landing in a broken, non-interactive state. This is especially frustrating with progression tied to the various daily resources - you spend them for battles of different types, and if the game breaks you’ve lost them and don’t get rewards. I’ve seen flakey behavior with character gear as well, which makes me suspicious that I may have farmed gear pieces only to have them lost due to a bug in the auto-equip, but can’t say for sure - may have just been a display issue. Either way, there’s a lot of to fix here, and it shouldn’t have been released yet. In it’s current state it should be considered an early beta, at best..Version: 0.10.22

Since its recent updates, their new “ranked assault” has increased, unrealistic difficulty even when you chose to battle someone with much less team power. ✓ A great but limited gameI found this game from an advertisement. I’m not usually one to enjoy “swipe the colorful block” games but to be fair I am a massive geek for DC. When I installed the game it found it entertaining, dialogue rich, the VO work is exceptional and the content is wonderful. As a game it is well made. But the roster leaves much to be desired. Of the hundreds of DC villains and heros the roster is still quite small missing even some of the most beloved characters such as Mr. Freeze or Man Bat. Equipping too many items in quick succession causes a force restart. Crafting materials randomly disappear while creating items causing you to buy them again. Putting the app in to the backround for even a moment causes you to automatically lose in pvp. Random board freezes that once again forces you to restart losing both resources and time. Sometimes the gems will get stuck preventing you from using them while on the board. I could go on and if I could i’d give this 0 stars. ✓ Used to be 5 starsTheir latest update at the beginning of November 2023 ruined the game. Players are quitting left and right. Most of my guild is talking about quitting. After putting so much effort into builder players and teams, everything has been changed. I was to the point where I had the final boss within 21K points of defeat. ✓ Massive disappointmentI downloaded this on recommendation from the soon to be ending DC Legends game, thinking that this would be similar; I was wrong. Just ANOTHER mindless ‘puzzle’ game, it has nothing in common with the excellent Super Hero battles of Legends. (Apart from the DC setting). ✓ Good Game, Some Poor ExecutionThis game changes often, so please take the date of my review into consideration. That said, read on if you’re interested: D.C. Heroes & Villains (DCHV) is a blast to play. The animations are clean, if not altogether imaginative or lively. The puzzle element, thankfully, takes a back seat to your characters’ actual stats and equipment. The resources required to level and power up your characters escalate RAPIDLY. If you kind of love the grind, though, this is your kind of game. Lastly, the story: It’s really good. It’s intentional and often makes use of the characters in your current party.
