Grim Quest - Old School RPG for Negative User Reviews

Pay BlockLoved playing the game, spent about 2 1/2 hours on it until I defeated the first boss and was told I had to pay to continue. Immensely disappointing as it isn’t immediately obvious you would have to pay, and I really got into the game before this huge letdown..Version: 1.3.6

Incredibly addictiveLove this game. That might seem odd considering the rating which, if I can get some feedback from the developer once I contact him, will definitely improve. The reason for this rating is that, as a voiceover user which I am (part-time at least) I find it difficult to access some of the information I need. For instance, how do you, assuming you want to, increase the spell slots? How do you know, from anywhere in the game, how much gold you have without fiddling about all the time? Voiceover doesn’t always tell you which enemy you’re up against though sometimes it does if you tap the screen right. A lot of this is, i suspect, a voiceover fault but it would be nice to get more information about certain things. I am willing to talk about this though because this game is really incredibly good. Well, having completed this game and while I still think it is good, I am nonetheless disappointed with some aspects of it. One lousy health point for levelling up after lvl sixty? That’s ridiculous. I have completed all the additional quests and this is all i get for it? the spell and skill slots not used are inaccessible to any advanced player. You get more for lower levels than you do for more advanced ones and that’s just stupid. You’d think at least it would unlock all the other unused spells and skills if you complete the game but no, nothing at all. it doesn’t even acknowledge that you’ve completed it. Voiceover is still a pig in some respects. For instance, it never seems to highlight the item you want when in the dungeon but that’s probably voiceover rather than the game itself. Still, it is really anticlimactic in my opinion..Version: 1.3.8

Not accessible to visually impaired/blind.I am a visually impaired player and I use a combination of, apple’s voiceover and speech controller. They work on the menus but not in game. So unfortunately I cannot play the game, which I was looking forward to. Please rectify this so me and other VI/blind RPG lovers, can access this amazing sounding game..Version: 1.6.0

Fun for time but then unplayableMade with monetization in mind. It was well balanced for several levels and then suddenly ramped up in difficulty (starting at “The Tear”). No amount of grinding will allow you to improve. The only way to continue is to purchase the booster pacts (items and gold for 14 bucks CAD) so you can significantly upgrade your character to deal with otherwise overpowered enemies. Fun while it lasted though! I reached an impasse that no amount of reasonable grinding would allow me to circumvent. I’m assuming many get tired of grinding and never make it to “The Tear,” or they purchase a booster pack to power through. Nothing against you trying to make money. But if there really is no concern with monetization, then why not offer the booster pacts for free (as well as paid versions for those that would like to donate)? It would allow players in my position the option of continuing without the perception, rightly or wrongly, they’ve been had..Version: 1.3.12

Game won’t start!Has good reviews! I have a good new iPad! But game just freezes on install screen! 😫.Version: 1.3.3

No iPad supportShould be clearer; but I found out after reading another review that this is why the game wouldn’t function. I will try it on my mobile, as the Dev recommended to the other reviewer, but I don’t really game on my phone - so hope to see iPad support even if scaled..Version: 1.3.3

Doesn’t loadI really wanted to try (and like) this game, but when I open it it get the message from the developer and after closing that, it just hangs out on a loading screen and nothing ever loads. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling a couple of times, with no change. I also tried Grim Tides, and while that game does load and I can start playing, it very quickly becomes the wrong size for my screen and I can’t really read or navigate anything and git frustrated when I could only tap between two screens that told me nothing helpful. An interesting concept and (from the little I could see) nice visuals, so I might come back in awhile to see if there have been bug fixes that make either of these playable..Version: 1.3.12

Unplayable on iPad Air 2Let us take an example. If you go to Various Assortments (General Store) the items for sale appear at the bottom 2 percent of the screen, while 4/5 ths of the item icons are hidden. They cannot be interacted with and 98% of the screen has the picture of the store. This is true for other areas too. Also, the very tutorial is impossible to read after a point. The last three or four entries do not appear on the screen at all. You need to keep tapping to get to the general screen. Not sure if the issue is that the game cannot be played on landscape mode, which is the default for an iPad, or something else. Whatever it is, it is impossible to play this game so stay clear of it. It was a waste of money and will be asking for my money back..Version: 1.0.4

MisleadingI was thoroughly enjoying this game…simple control interface and combat system…lots of options and variations for replay-ability and customization…loved the look and feel, and as a wordsmith, was impressed with the in-game writing. However, nothing in the app description, or the game introduction, indicated that this is only a trial version…it’s buried in the in-app purchases section. As someone who does not partake in such purchases, I had no reason to even look in that section. You can only complete the first area before you are required to pay to unlock the full game…which came as quite a surprise, and a disappointment. I have no problem with developers seeking compensation for their efforts…just be transparent about it…geez..Version: 1.2.2

Great but flawedI can’t scroll in the dancing dragon, I can in any other screen, but not there. So I have run out of supplies, I can’t take bounties, and my game has come to a shuddering halt. Apart from that, fun game..Version: 1.3.8

Good game.Pay wall was annoying but still fun.Version: 1.5.0
