Oticon Companion for Negative User Reviews

Don’t buyThe newly purchased tv adapter box fried my 55 in LG tv Two months later one hearing aid stopped working . The app works on occasion. Find a different brand.Version: 1.2.2

Poor qualityIn comparison to Oticon on this app is terrible. I constantly have to restart just to get the hearing aids to both connect. It doesn’t always identify if both batteries are working or how much charge is left- showing one as full and the other empty yet both hearing aids working fine. It doesn’t identify what program is connected or will only connect one device..Version: 1.2.2

NEW VERSION, NO WATCH COMPLICATIONS?I am using iOS 17.0 and watch OS 10.0. The previous app had a watch complication that allowed quick access to the app so I could make quick changes to my hearing aids without drawing attention to myself. Now I either have to spend time scrolling through the apps on my watch to find it, or pull out my phone to load the app. Both take time and can be perceived as not paying attention to the one speaking. For those of you that don’t know or don’t care, THAT IS INCREDIBLY RUDE! I really wish I could switch back to the older version, but I can’t because I’m forced to use the new version. Looks like I have I’ll have to keep my hearing aids volume increased. When my audiologist asks why my hearing aid batteries aren’t lasting like they used to, I’ll explain to her that the new Oticon app is half baked and Oticon obviously no longer cares about its users..Version: 1.2.2

Unspeakably PoorThis app in itself is a reason to seriously consider something other than Oticon hearing aids. The old ON app was great and very stable. This one is incapable of maintaining connection to the hearing aids and requires fully closing and opening the app (and sometimes turning the phone off and on) to reestablish connection. And this is despite updates to the app to supposedly address connectivity. What makes it unforgivable incompetence is that the iPhone maintains connection (iOS can pair with them itself) when the app can’t. It’s as if some idiot has coded it so the connection subroutine is in the startup sequence of the app, forgetting that it might be useful to MAINTAIN a connection. Until this is sorted, I would recommend checking the market before you commit to Oticon. Connectivity is important these days and without the iOS capability Oticon hearing aids would be almost useless in that regard..Version: 1.2.2

Horrible “New” AppUser reviews on the Apple AppStore are incredibly numerous and bad regarding your new app. The reviews are 100% correct and your responses to the reviewers are less than adequate. Many of the hearing compromised customers are also elderly and even less able to adapt to your horrible app updates. The situation makes the $5K investment in the hearing aids practically useless. When will you actually be applying a fix to the Companion app so that both hearing aids connect easily, quickly and remain connected? Please provide a specific date in your response! Your responses to reviews go back many months now and alway say the same thing - ‘you are working on an update.’ Time is of the essence for your community of hearing impaired individuals. Your poor service and unusable ‘new’ app is negatively impacting the daily lives of your customers who paid top money for your hearing aids. You should be ashamed of your company and your association with it. This is an absolute disgrace. All of your customers deserve better!!.Version: 1.2.2

HorribleI’ve had my hearing aids 1 week and there are so many issues with connectivity. One hearing aid is connected, the other one not, etc. What is being done about this? 1 star is being generous!.Version: 1.2.2

Angry because my app and Oticon support discontinued without noticeAfter 5 years of wearing my Oticons I put them on today and opened my faithful Oticon ON app, which then told me blankly that it was “no longer available” and I had to download the new Oticon Companion app. I did this and after trying to pair my Oticons the app told me they were no longer being supported!! I am furious at this arrogance in the way Oticon treats it’s customers. Never trusting them again..Version: 1.2.2

Oticon companion AppI changed to this App as advised, having been happy with the previous Oticon App and now I am having frequent problems connecting one of my hearing aids. I have tried everything recommended but without success. This is VERY disappointing. I emailed Oticon and they very kindly (not) said it could take 4 days for them to reply. This is not good enough. My hearing aids and connectivity to the phone are a necessity not a luxury. Come on Oticon get your act together. I can’t even download the Oticon App after removing the previous one, which was suggested as a possible solution..Version: 1.2.2

Hearing AppThis is just not as good as the old one and don’t understand the necessity of changing it to something which doesn’t work. I am having real trouble with my hearing aids disconnecting and then having to go through the whole process of re-pairing, sometimes this takes four or five attempts. The location keeps on stalling and stopping despite my location setting being on “always” Also the old app connected automatically each morning without me having to mess about trying to reconnect and pair my hearing aids. Please reinstate the old app until this one is up and running correctly..Version: 1.2.2

I hate this appSince changing to Companion - I had no option since the previous app was taken down - I have had nothing but problems. I use the app to connect to my tv. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It cuts out in the middle of a program. I have to reboot the app on a daily basis to reconnect my hearing aids to the app, three times in the last hour. With the previous version, I left the app open all the time, both to make access easier and to make sure the app tracked the location of my hearing aids. If I leave this version open for more than a few hours, I have to reboot and/or reconnect. Needless to say, routine adjustments to volume and switching to Speech in Noise are also affected by whether or not the app has disconnected from my hearing aids. Was planning on upgrading my hearing aids and now seriously considering switching to another manufacturer just so I can avoid this app..Version: 1.2.2

Very poor experienceI greatly prefer the older app because this one takes forever to connect to the hearing aids. I end up having to constantly delete the app and download it again. I have allowed the reports, but I am very frustrated by having to watch the app spin endlessly and then to take the time to start all over after yet another download. There is nothing that works dependably on this app for me. Imagine sitting in a doctor’s office and wanting to turn up the sound. with the last app, when it was working, I could quickly do that, but this is impossible. Also, the app disconnects itself after a few hours and you have to do the whole pairing process again, which rarely works anyway. The last app at least stayed connected all day..Version: 1.2.2

Oticon companionVery, very slow to connect to hearing aids or to connect with smart tv for streaming. I have an iPhone 7 and app frequently must be deleted and reinstalled - several times per week. Hearing aids frequently must be reconnected to hearing aids - several times per day. Oticon app also turns the volume on my phone down so user does not receive sound notifications or messages or calls. New app has potential but is currently a big pain to deal with..Version: 1.2.2

Worst app than previous appHello, I received a message from Oticon old app to saying something about stopped working in the future feature so I switched it over and saw very few star so I actually curious why it so bad. I can confirmed, it is very bad for some feature. It seem like it been released long time ago and haven’t fix it properly. 1) The connecting to hearing aids are taking forever and way too slow and I don’t understand why developers decided to released it if they knew the connection is very poorly. It seem like rush job! I believe this is highly priority than any other feature you are planning to add. It have to fix it ASAP. 2) Interface is very simple and clean but, too bright when it is dark so I want this app have adjust between light and dark. Feel like outdated app. 3) I have to keep old app for the connection or control the hearing aids when I am work so I can’t wait too long for this app connecting so it’s sad to see struggling. 4) The rest of them are good features so please add more feature in the future. 5) I would love this feature if you can add optional for adding hardware feature like connect TV and where to get this etc so we can able to get more to use for hearing aids..Version: 1.2.0

Ça fonctionne mais... it's working but...Only to stars (no more for the moment) Seulement 2 étoiles (pas plus pour l'instant) There is a great lack of "responsiveness" in the identification and control of hearing aids. With a little seriousness and determination, I am convinced that you can do better Il y a un grand manque de "réactivité" dans le repérage et le contrôle des appareils auditifs. Avec un peu de sérieux et de la détermination, je suis convaincu que vous pouvez faire mieux !!.Version: 1.2.1

Unable to connectI have restarted, reinstalled, tried on new phone. Followed all online help guides. Repairing daily just to use. The app takes so so long to load or connect hearing aids. I want to use old app but forced to use this. Please fix!.Version: 1.2.2

Very a very annoying appI don’t often get angry about apps that don’t do what they say but this is really bad - all it you may be able to control your volume aids but if you get a call and you want to listen with other people the off n on button does nothing - I get zoom calls and what’s app n face time calls and want to let my partner join the conversation but cant it’s so annoying - in the end I’ve just deleted it and guess what now I cant hear any music apps or share - it’s totally messed up my phone !!!.Version: 1.2.2

Useless appYou have turned off the old app which worked beautifully with my Oticon opn 1 hearing aids connected to my iPhone devices via the MFI hearing devices option. The new won’t even recognise my hearing aids…its says “ hearing aids are not compatible with this app” If your not going to fix this app then please turn the old app back on so I can at least user something that works.Version: 1.2.2

Utterly awfulExtraordinary that an app that is essential for the users of these hearing aids should be so unutterably cr*p. Even when i connect hearing aids to device through settings this beastly app will not connect them so i can’t cut out external sounds. So then i open hearing aids to reset them, still nothing so then i have to reset ipad/iphone etc which then results in the hearing aids disconnecting from everything so then i have to start again, connect to device through settings then try app again… nothing …. Then reset hearing aids …. Still nothing until by some fluke about 30 mins later it works. I mean SERIOUSLY??? I need connection for my work, this means that I cannot work effectively as I am unable to get everyone to wait for 30-40 mins before I can start. Unbelievably pi***d off. Be a bit professional guys and get your act together, the reviews should be a wake up call..Version: 1.2.2

FrustrationThis remains an incredibly unstable platform. When it drops out it’s almost impossible to get hearing aids paired again. Following the instructions takes you into a loop without a fix. The old version worked reliably. This one doesn’t. Piece of junk..Version: 1.2.2

FrustratingIPad connection always difficult. iPhone not too bad. Please fix Bluetooth to connect easily. Also would be good if tv connected at the same volume it was last on, rather than blasting at full volume every time. Painful on the ears till you can turn it down..Version: 1.2.2

This app and my hearing aids are strangersI am a disabled veteran and the VA provides Oticon HAs for me. This app is ridiculous. The app is nearly useless. It is seldom paired with the HAs like two siblings who are always fighting and not speaking to each other. Each time I access the app to use it to control my hearing aids it has to pair with them afresh, like strangers who have just met. The Bluetooth is laughable and behaves like a petulant child sulking in a corner coming unreliably from hiding then disappearing again into darkness. Like disagreeable twins neither communicating with a parent or each other. It is either this nearly useless app or pay a handsome subscription price and hope it pairs consistently with the devices. I think this app is like a friend with a borderline personality disorder. I never know what its relationship with my hearing aids will be. I guess beggars cannot be choosers. I get what I get, strangers forever in the night..Version: 1.2.2

PatheticYou’re going to make people switch to this app and it’s far from being ready to use. Every morning my husband and I have to reconnect the app to our hearing aids because thus useless app tends to forget them overnight. Throughout the day we may have to do the same thing so we can switch from general (active use) to either comfort (we use for outside or really loud places) or tv (we have a box that lets us listen to the tv at our own preferred levels). This app is constantly disconnecting from my R hearing aid so I have to take it off, place it back jn the charger, take it out again and hope oticon connection lives up to its name which it doesn’t. Why not leave Oticon On available for those of us who can’t get companion to work like it’s supposed to? If this is my only app choice, I won’t use one.Version: 1.2.2

Not compatible with my hearing aidI was unable to use the previous app Oticon On and told to download this new app. However upon downloading was told my hearing aid is not compatible with the new app. I now no longer am able to remotely adjust my hearing aid. Why remove an app if not all users are able to use the new app? I will reconsider purchasing Oticon hearing aids in the future..Version: 1.2.2

Go back to the old appNew app has connectivity issues, make it work or return to the old app. You are debugging you app with costumers complaints.Version: 1.2.2

JunkThe old app was quite good. This one keeps losing connection, won’t recognize ipad or iphone suddenly. Keep resetting which lasts for 2 mins then drops out again. Tried everything you recommend to reset. Would go back to the old app but it won’t let me. Please delete and remove this app. It is garbage and you are wasting all of our time. Might have to get different hearing aids to rectify this junk..Version: 1.2.2

What a waste of time!!!After using the previous app with some success it stopped working so follow, as best could, the provided instructions to get the new app, well that was a complete waste of time as now can’t get anything!!! Not even worth one star, but wouldn’t let me post without giving it least a one star rating!.Version: 1.2.2

New app creates pairing problems every time I switch devicesI was forced to download the new Oticon Companion app a few days ago because the previous Oticon ON app is no longer supported. However, it instantly has caused pairing problems with both my iPad and my iPhone, and restarting the HAs or manually or by putting in charger does not fix the issues. The only way I have been able to pair to either iPad or iPhone is to restart each of them, individually, every single time I want to pair or switch. Even then I sometimes have to *also* restart the HAs. Before this new app, I was switching pretty seamlessly between my iOS devices all day without issue. I have deleted Companion app from both my devices, and will just have to pair via iOS Accessiblity panel, so I have none of the Oticon app features. I am so frustrated. It just took me 10 minutes to prepare to make a phone call, which for a HoH person is difficult enough. Please fix this pairing problem ASAP..Version: 1.2.2

HopelessWhen it works it’s fine. However on a daily basis it doesn’t work properly, the connection to the aids fails. The only solution is to delete the App & install it again. And the download time is excessively long & take up the 20 minutes. No this is unacceptable rubbish. Get your act together, I’m sure your computer people get good money that they don’t deserve, I’m changing to a better system as soon as I can..Version: 1.2.2

ReverseTerrible. My next step is to go to a non Oticon app and try a few out. Go back to the old one or at least give a choice between the two. All I want is connection, volume control and battery check. Bob Bates.Version: 1.2.2

New app is not an improvementThe new Companion app is not an improvement over the old version. Connection time is painfully slow and the connection never lasts. I have to restart the app every time I use it. I rarely had to do that with the old version. Was there no testing done with the app? I feel like it was thrown together and pushed to the user community to test it. I like my hearing aids as they work well but the app as a control mechanism is lack-luster. This is the first set of hearing aids I have owned so I have no way to know if this is just the way things are or if this is not the norm. My heart loss is moderate and I’m not exactly dependent on my hearing aids so I hate to think how frustrating Yapp would be to someone that truly depends on their hearing aids. I think Oticon needs to make fixing these problems a big priority..Version: 1.2.2

An Unwelcome CompanionI’ve never had to say this before, and I don’t take any joy in writing this, If I could give zero stars, I would. Oticon On had its flaws, but at least it got the basics right. Oticon Companion is awful in its current form. Connectivity shouldn’t have to be an ongoing challenge but that’s what it is. At best you have to reboot your aids and re-start the app. At worst it’s a full phone reboot with your fingers crossed. The battery level is as it was - pretty much a stab in the dark. Oticon’s responses to the reviews all seem very positive and that they’re working ‘very hard’ to improve this app. The truth is this app has been live for over 6 months and even though there have been several updates, there has been no change in performance. This app needs to be fully reviewed and rebuilt - or withdrawn, as right now, as the reviews show, it’s more of a hindrance than a companion..Version: 1.2.2

JiggyHad to leave Oticon On as advised for new iOS version. Oticon On was brilliant no issues at all but Companion is absolutely useless and not fit for purpose. How can a major hearing aid company get it so wrong?? The connection issues being reported by the majority of owners is a big concern that Oticon should be taken notice of but it appears they are sweeping it under the carpet. Oticon! Is it that difficult to get this new app to work as good as the Oticon On App? After all it’s tarnishing your reputation. I would not recommend Oticon to friends or Family anymore and when I replace my hearing aids it will not be with Oticon unfortunately. The App should run smoothly with the aids to make the user friendly hearing experience that Oticon On did. Oticon Please Please sort this awful App out..Version: 1.2.2

Disconnect Issues. This app disconnects far too easily and far to often. The old Oticon On app was much easier to reconnect discretely via Bluetooth refresh in the event of a disconnect. Companion demands switching off aids to do so, is clumsy drawing attention to the user when in public spaces or at work and actually doesn’t reconnect half the time. Not at all discrete. A retrograde step. After a couple of months use I can’t find ANYTHING to alter my review save that it’s even more frustrating to try and try to reconnect and finally delete and redownload - hoping that it will finally connect…… until, inevitably, it disconnects again. It’s a miserable little app. I’m looking at other aid apps. Maybe they will be an improvement… they can’t be worse. In summary, it appears that the only reliable way to live with this app is to DAILY DELETE AND REINSTALL - and hope that it doesn’t drop out! Pathetic..Version: 1.2.2

CSI too am most disappointed with the app and find it easier to use the phone accessibility only which at least gives me an instant connection though it doesn’t allow for quick adjustment in difficult hearing situations. This app is just not up to the job!.Version: 1.2.2

Oticon Companion???This app doesn’t work! It constantly loses the Bluetooth connectivity. Resolve by deleting and reloading to reconnect. The old Oticon On was much better..Version: 1.2.2

Worst app for hearing aids.I am sure that this is not going to change anything but this app “Oticon Companion “ is pretty much useless. Pairing the hearing aid to my iPhone is frustrating and annoying. Rarely ever works and , then , when I finally get them paired, they just randomly “unpair” and guess what? Now I am disconnected again. Who develops these apps for your company? I am very capable of using my iPhone and iPad and pairing many things to my Bluetooth. And, then, they stay paired and I can actually use them as intended. Not so with these hearing aids. Perhaps a new software developer is needed. You really need to do better. Obviously, I will not purchase another product because of this. And I will not recommend this brand to anyone. The sad part is, I actually think the hearing aid works great, the app is worthless so , most of the time I am not hearing well..Version: 1.2.2

Frustrating and useless appI utterly hate this new app. Do the app developers actually wear hearing aids and have to use this useless app? Less than 48 hours after being forced to download this new app I hate it so much I am seriously considering replacing the two pairs of hearing aids in my home with a new hearing aid manufacturer. The previous app allowed me to remain connected to three devices. My personal iPhone, personal iPad and my work iPad. Yes! I was connected to three devices on purpose and I loved it! I could join MSTeams meetings for work with my hearing aids. Hands free calls were a breeze on the phone and the iPad was perfect for using a sleep app or watching movies as I travel. We could connect to our television with ease. Now I can barely keep the aids connected to one device. Nothing works. I have “forgotten” the hearing aids on all devices and attempted to pair only on my phone. My hearing aids are constantly disconnecting from the app on my phone and connecting to my husbands phone. It is frustrating to have to repeatedly repair my hearing aids to my phone. I am unable to control my hearing aids at all. And now my husbands hearing aids are connected to both his phone and mine. This upgrade is beyond useless. The trouble shooting in the app is even more useless..Version: 1.2.2

AnnoyedThe app tells me my opticon hearing aids are incompatible and I can't use the old app. They must want me to buy new hearing aids. If this is correct I will change brands because the are then arseholes.Version: 1.2.2

Works worse than the originalThis app is a pos. It is slow. It disconnects. What the heck happened? Fix it!.Version: 1.2.2

Poor SubstituteThe previous app was far more effective for my older model aids - it is most disappointing that it cannot still be used. The old app wasn’t broken - why was it necessary to replace it for older aids when both apps could have remained functional? For new aids this app works quite well - the problem is it’s functionality with older models..Version: 1.2.2

Upgraded my review, but I want the Apple Watch complicationI first installed this app on iOS 16. It was slow, unstable, and lacking features found in the “ON” app. I went back to using the old “ON” app. Eventually I upgraded to iOS 17, but I was careful to remove the ON app first, and restarted my phone and Apple Watch to make sure it was gone. Companion works much better on iOS 17. It’s slower to connect to my hearing aids than the ON app, but if you leave Companion running the connection seems stable. It makes the connection quickly enough when I turn on my hearing aids in the morning. Now the question is when will Oticon bring back the Apple Watch complication? A complication is so much easier to use than finding an app in the stack. PLEASE - bring back the complication. I’ll give you 5 stars if you do..Version: 1.2.2

This app is terrible.I have an iPhone 13 and an iPad 7th generation and both should be compatible with this app according to both Oticon support when I called and also my audiologist. The very first time installing the app in audiologists office the app installed easily enough but would not pair with my hearing aids. Had to uninstall app then try again. This time was successful. I got home with hearing aids still paired to app on my phone. I got a phone call and on the second ring my hearing aids said “disconnected” and I tried to answer the call but was not able to. I opened this app and it was showing me to pair my hearing aids again. I tried several times with no luck. Ended up uninstalling the app and putting my hearing aids back in the charger for the 4th time then I reinstalled the app and then took the hearing aids out of charger to re pair them again. This time it worked but the next morning they would not connect again. I have to uninstall the app then reinstall it every time I put my hearing aids in. I am 58 years old and do not want to have to do this every day..Version: 1.2.2

TerribleI don’t know who designed this app but time to go back to the drawing board. The old app was far better.Version: 1.2.2

UselessDoesn’t correctly provide battery strength. Wasted batteries trying to get it to work..Version: 1.2.2

Very frustrating!Dear Oticon, If I could rate this as zero stars I would do that. I had the former Oticon app on my iPhone 14 and a TV adapter. I had no difficulties with navigating and implementing the app. Now I’m stuck with an “improved Oticon app” (since the former one was disabled) that won’t sync with my hearing aids. I’ve read the instruction manual and troubleshooting suggestions to no avail. My phone no longer recognizes my hearing aids and I can’t use the TV adapter without the app. I wrote an email via the app a few days ago but no response. I just wrote a follow up email today. Since you responded to the other person who wrote about her issues, I thought I would try here. My hearing aids use batteries (not rechargeable). My hearing aids are Oticon miniRITE and my TV adapter is the Oticon 3.0. My phone is an iPhone 14. Please respond..Version: 1.2.2

What a scam!Had to upgrade to the new app because the old app isn’t available anymore. After upgrading, it turns out that my older hearing aids aren’t compatible with the new app so I have no app!! Is this Oticon’s way of forcing customers to buy new hearing aids??!!.Version: 1.2.2

A giant step backwardsThere is nothing that this app does that is as good, understandable or efficient as the old app. It is unbelievably slow to connect, even slower to switch between general and the tv adapter. It regularly disconnects and will not reconnect without restarting the app. I have used the old app for nearly ten years and unless something is done to fix the myriad of issues, I will be changing hearing aids..Version: 1.2.2

Startup time unacceptableThere is no reason that it should take a minute or more to connect to hearing devices. Please fix this.Version: 1.2.2

Why?Why did you roll this out? It’s inconveniently awful. Continuously disconnects and advises of low battery even after just putting them in after a full night charge. I rely heavily on the ability to adjust volume through the app due to the numerous daily scenarios where volume and settings need to be changed. The primary reason I chose this brand. Thanks to this app, I find myself in daily situations having to power off my phone in order to get a proper connection so that I may adjust volume settings. I find myself apologizing in meetings having to fumble with my iPhone and the app because I can’t hear a lightly speaking individual across the room. Losing my hearing due to age is one thing, looking like an incompetent aging gentleman courtesy of an poorly developed app borders at the edge of unforgivable..Version: 1.2.2

Mix’s bag this timeThe new app is more powerful, offering the ability for remote care - a wonderful idea for those who cannot easily get to a provider. The downside is that the boot up time of the app is mind numbingly long. This does not make it much use when I want to change something and totally useless if I have not activated the app but want to use the watch app. Battery levels- finally I can change when it tells me the level. I never cared about 50/40%. But then you take away the spoken level ? Is that because you only had English? Surely there is a text to speech multi-lingual api you can tap into without bloating. I am unsure whether to keep going with this or go back to the oticon on app. At least until you remove that to push companion. Please don’t. Developer response is still 50-50. Why drop spoken battery levels? Chimes are not very detectable. Fishing the slow boot can be done by backgrounding the rarely used(by consumer) boot up of the remote are. Don’t turn it on until consumer requests it..Version: 1.1.0

Previous version worked automatically between phone and IPadI’m disappointed with this new version. The previous version worked great with automatically connecting to either my IPhone or IPads by just turning on or off the Bluetooth of desired device. This new version doesn’t work very well when switching back from the iPhone to the iPad. I have tried restarting the hearing aids, opening and closing the app, but almost every time I need to reboot my iPad. Then it works. My other issue has to do with the app orientation on my IPad. It will only present in the portrait mode. I rarely use my iPad in that orientation while watching streaming video. The previous version would rotate to the orientation of the iPad. Can an update be done to correct these 2 issues. I love being able to hear phone calls and video through my aids. It was easy, and now it’s a bit more difficult..Version: 1.2.2

Disconnects the life from of hearingDisconnects often throughout the day. I don’t think this app updates often for all the new phone updated versions. I use the iPhone 13 Pro Max and I’m having issues daily with disconnecting then when the app tries to reconnect only one hearing aid will work so being in a previous IT Field I tried all troubleshooting steps from shutting down the phone and hearing aids and reboot together, and issues still exist. Throwing the hearing aids back into the charger and trying again, still the same issues. This app doesn’t have any new updates but it seems to be a poor app developer. The developer might need to hire experienced engineers to help develop this app so people can enjoy their life and being able to hear with quality. I give this app a Two Thumbs Down!.Version: 1.2.2

Terrible new appThis new Companion app is terrible in comparison with the original ‘On’ version, pairing is difficult at best, even with the latest iPhone software and everything up-to-date, why have you broken something which worked perfectly as it’s now virtually impossible to switch from one device to another without it or disconnecting, and having to turn off the hearing aids multiple times. I think the app developer is obviously someone who does not have to use the system or hearing aids as if they did they would not put out such a terrible upgrade which is, in fact, a terrible downgrade. please get it sorted it’s incredibly frustrating. It really is quite unbelievable that you can take something which is near perfect and literally trash it..Version: 1.2.2

Not too bad BUT UNRELIABLEOK this app works can well enough, BUT… 1. It is poorly designed visually and unimpressive BUT it works, when it works. It will NEVER win an award for graphic design. That is not a big deal - 2. I had to download load it twice to get the option to select program options. Once that issue was resolved, I was pleased. 3. Day 2. However: It vanished from my watch. On the iPhone (11pro) it could not connect to the left ear even though the battery was still OK. Even replacing the battery meant that the options for Program 1 general, Program 2 Music, and Progam 3 Headphones - were no longer there AGAIN! So back to square one. Download the watch App AGAIN. Restart the phone. Now we are back. 4. Day 3 Connection has been sort of OK but it is so much more work than the old version of the app…… Why the change if it is LESS STABLE? 5. The interface remains clumsy but the UNRELIABILITY IS NOT GOOD. You can now find your hearing aids if you misplace them. 6. Oticon need to up their game! 7. If this is not fixed soon I will be hunting for a different brand of hearing aids..Version: 1.2.2

Absolutely hopelessHave to disconnect and then reconnect the app every time. Usually connects to one hearing aid and the other doesn’t connect- ‘spins’ until disconnected and reconnected- again. When only one aid is connected, the arrows for moving in and out of volume/TV are not visible so can’t change. As someone who relies on being able to turn sound up, I will not buy this brand again unless there’s a swift improvement. The ‘old’ app was brilliant -why change it for something so dreadfully undeveloped?.Version: 1.2.2

Keeps on disconnectingI’ve just been forced to switch to this app. I’ve been happily listening to a podcast series all day but all of a sudden, it stopped working. After checking 2 podcast apps, I checked the Oticon app which displayed a message informing me that I must update. Whilst watching the app as the podcast plays, the app shows the disconnect from my hearing aid. Please resolve this fault ASAP. Months later, it’s still doing the same: I’ve been trying to reconnect the Bluetooth for about 20 minutes and it’s no good. Please fix the issue!.Version: 1.2.2

DisappointedThe previous app let me change the option to not have my mobile ring in my hearing aides. I turned it off because it interfered when on a land line call. This app doesn’t have any option to change this setting. My hearing aids just all of a sudden started having the ring tone coming through them. Very frustrating when in a meeting or in a land line call and the having my mobile ring directly in my hearing aid. Disappointing and very disrespectful not to allow this option to be changed. Why should I be disadvantaged because the developers don’t have a sense of everyday needs..Version: 1.2.2

What is this app SUPPOSED to do??Some days the app records my wear time. Some days it says it does but then the next day it’s gone. Or some days it doesn’t record anything even though I’ve opened and connected (yes I verified) to the app several times during the day just to kind of troubleshoot… So I only have the days that it decided to keep. 🙄 I only have a “General” program so there’s nothing for me to adjust. I do like being able to adjust each hearing aid separately. I don’t notice a significant difference with the voice enhancement and the equalizer options aren’t all that special. Connectivity can be sketchy despite my phone being in my work vest pocket . These are my first hearing aids so I don’t have anything else to compare this app to but I would say it’s bare bones basic. Nothing to rave about..Version: 1.2.2

Even worse than the previous AppNext month I am due for new hearing aids. I will look for a different brand based on my experience with this app. It’s hard to explain How bad it really is. It takes from 60-90 seconds for the app and hearing aids to connect and they constantly disconnect. It will arbitrarily tell me one aid has a dead battery when in fact the battery is fine. I have to restart the aid and or my phone. Considering the cost (ok paid for by insurance) I would expect much better..Version: 1.2.2

HansJust had one hearing aid repaired. Tried it out after charging. The App does not even recognise the repaired hearing aid. Restarted my phone several times, deleted and reinstalled the Oticon app but no success. Hopeless hopeless, hopeless. Nearly every morning I need to reset the app as it just does not want to change to my preferred volume setting. Please get the old Oticon On app going again..Version: 1.2.2

Extremely frustratingI am a younger wearer of hearing aids and rely on the flexibility of changing the volume on my hearing aids discretely as I go about my busy day. Oticon On was wonderful allowing me to do all of this. I had notification that this App was being discontinued so was forced into downloading Oticon Companion. There is nothing about being a companion. It is frustratingly awful. Hearing aids disconnect ALL the time. It is unreliable and is having an impact on my ability to hear people in certain situations. I feel disabled because this App is cheap and the so called bug fixes aren’t keeping up with the needs of the users. I am now considering throwing my hearing aids away and buying another brand. From something that was so reliable and brilliant as Oticon On to the diabolical Oticon Companion that highlights just how deaf I really am, it makes me depressed as I can’t hear properly anymore as I am constantly fiddling with my phone uninstalling and installing this useless software! Sort it out Oticon Companion!.Version: 1.2.2

Extremely poor upgradeI used the Oticon ON App and loved it. Since I had to change to the Oticon Companion I am not using it at all as it is so slow and continually asks me to open the backs of the hearing aids to re-connect. If I kept doing this as the App asked I would have broken the hinges of the battery compartment by now ! This App is getting such poor ratings that this company really needs to take notice. What was the point of the upgrade to the App if nobody likes it. Please bring back the original App. Why is Oticon not reading / listening to all these negative comments and doing something about it. This new App is a very retrograde step and is no use to me as a hearing aid user..Version: 1.2.2

Companion? Not ReallyOn one hand, I’m kind of relieved that the reviews are so bad. It tells me that I’m not stupid. I followed the poorly written instructions exactly and after a few tries I got it. Everything the hearing aids could do with this terrible app seemed to be working. The next time I used the app there were connectivity problems. I haven’t tried to reconnect. I just wear the hearing aids without the app. The big question I have is what app for anything can’t simply turn the power on and off. On the hearing aids themselves, the buttons are awful and hard to tell when the have been pressed or not. Chemotherapy has made the ends of my fingers numb all the time and it makes the operation of the aids even harder. So, junk hearing aids and a terrible app for $4000. Bright and early tomorrow I’ll be contacting my audiologist to inform him that I want out of Oticon. I will also be leaving an accurate review on Oticon’s official website. Don’t bother to reply..Version: 1.2.2

New appWhat a stuff up ! Now totally useless and will not connect anymore. What kind of people do you have working for you ? Do you even test the app before forcing people to download it? Would not recommend their product. They don't even replied to several email enquires. I gave it a one star. But thats one to many..Version: 1.2.2

App is great, Apple needs to provide more supportThe app’s features are fantastic. The issue is that Apple doesn’t provide enough native support for the mifi hearing aid hardware. The constant disconnections due to BLE is an Apple issue and not the app. The tracking of wear time and program use is fantastic, but should be integrated into Apple Health for more streamlined tracking via this app as the data logger. Fundamentally, the support this app has received from Apple - along with other hearing aid apps in general - is the real issue with the user experience..Version: 1.2.2

Mostly frustrating and also uselessPoor when it works, much worse when it doesn’t. And that’s a case almost every day. App fails to connect to either or both aids until the app is stopped, reseted and restarted. Until that’s done streaming from TV adapter and/or phone is distorted and often unacceptable. The software is unreliable… Have a look at users ratings for this app. Pathetic really. And this is supposed to be improved, new version.Version: 1.2.2

This app has issues and it’s not a good replacement for the Oticon on appOh dear, I see that the Oticon ON App has been discontinued, and I can no longer make use of it, and what a terrible decision that is to force people into this when your replacement is not as good as the one you’re replacing. Seems to take forever to actually connect with my hearing aids, and the instructions rather than being built in require me to download a PDF and then search through the PDF for whatever I’m interested in, and it is not simply written, but is written as if you have the time to Peruse it and make use of it rather than just want to go quickly in and out. You need a Quick Start Guide, which is pretty standard stuff or comes with most technology these days, but you are not providing that. Need to get somebody who actually understands how people use these things. I want to be able to keep going with life and conversations and not have to say oh I have to go and read a PDF. Don’t know how that feature works. It should be built in and as a help function into your app. And you should keep the old app going until you solve all your little problems. Not very customer oriented..Version: 1.2.2

TerribleThe previous app was perfect but this one takes forever to connect to the hearing aids. It doesn’t seem to actually do anything the other one didn’t - it just looks cosmetically different and doesn’t work as well. What is the point?? The amount of times I’ve been in mid conversation and have needed to turn up the volume but the app doesn’t connect. I then have to keep apologising repeatedly while the other person looks around awkwardly. I’ve emailed customer support twice and both times have been given the usual spiel about how they are working hard to resolve the situation but it has been months now. SORT IT OUT!! It is not good enough. These hearing aids cost fortunes and the least you can do is have a decent app. If you can’t fix it, roll back the old app which was fine..Version: 1.2.2

OticonThis product will not connect through Bluetooth all the time..Version: 1.2.2

Unusable appI don’t understand why oticon would go from an app that works (most of the time) to this completely unusable app. And I can see from other reviews that I’m not the only one..Unsure if it even deserves 1 star. I’m unable to connect my hearing aids to this new app most days, even after resetting my phone, the app and my hearing aids multiple times. At the moment, it’s said ‘reconnecting’ for 1 hour with no success. I rely on Bluetooth connection to my phone for work so it’s really frustrating and affecting me a lot. Please fix it asap, super disappointing..Version: 1.2.2

Poor customer serviceStop sending me notifications about this app when you made me switch to it without notice weeks ago. What a joke your customer service is basically you’re tied to a product and you rule the waves customers are an inconvenience..Version: 1.2.2

Very poor appThis app was created to cancel the use of the previous hearing aids to force previous owners to purchase new hearing aids. There was nothing wrong with the previous hearing aids. I can tell you this, I will not go with this company to buy new hearing aids. Bring back the old app...Version: 1.2.2

Useless “Upgrade”At least the old app would connect. Did Oticon even do a beta test on this?.Version: 1.2.2

Not fit for purposeHappily been using Oticon On for a few years, it was so good even my fully hearing friends were impressed. The new Oticon Companion is a poor ‘upgrade’ I’m afraid. It takes ages to open - in fact I was checking in to the theatre and wanted to open the app to put on my t-coil. By the time it connected we were walking to our seats after my husband dealt with the check-in. Not good on accessibility for those of us who rely on our hearing aids to carry out everyday tasks. Another time it just didn’t connect to my aids at all. Having to resort to manually changing programs etc..Version: 1.2.2

Not working like it shouldI have a pair of hearing aids the app can take over 4 minutes to connect and sometimes it will only connect with one of them. When you check the battery life it will only show both at 100% or one at 100% and the other at 30%. It better to use the iphone settings.Version: 1.2.2

UselessCame here to find instructions for the companion app for my 2 day old Oticon Reals. Several problems already and now I can see why. 1 star rating because we can’t pick zero. Do better Oticon..Version: 1.2.2

Totally unacceptable appConnecting the iPhone to Oticon more hearing aids fails more often than not. On failure it sometimes works if you forget the aids in accessibility and the reset. Even if that reconnects this app is likely to fail or recognise one aid rather than both. If you get it to work one day you are almost certainly having to attempt to reconnect the following day. A frustrating experience every day..Version: 1.2.2

Phone call connection issueWhen the hearing aids are connected to the mobile phone and I make or receive a call sometimes/randomly the other person can’t hear me and I have to disconnect the hearing aids. Using an iPhone 13 with hearing aids and phone with latest updates..Version: 1.2.2

App gone from good to useless.Bring back oticon on. This new app is nothing but a pain to use. keep losing connection. .sometimes it will only load one aid or the program menu will disappear. take forever to connect. constantly. having to delete and reinstall to get it to work. So do everyone a favour? and bring back oticon on..Version: 1.2.2

Oticon CompanionThe old app was simple, it worked and was easy to use. There is too much change and the need for “Find my Hearing Aids” is unnecessary. The owner was issued with a box to store them in so we take them off and put them in the box. You graciously provide a “while app is in use” feature but the setup will not complete until “Always” is selected, so i cannot maintain the level of privacy I want. So, either fix the app or give me the ability to continue using the old app. If you can’t do this, then I will not use the app. 👎😒.Version: 1.2.2

Terrible, bring back the old AppOld app was much faster and more reliable, it takes way too long to start up companion and connect to the hearing aids. Why did you FORCE us to download companion by disabling the old Oticon app? Companion obviously is not ready for general release. When I need to adjust hearing aids I don’t need to wait almost a minute for app to start and connect. By then the reason for adjusting may be over. Please bring back the old app and let us use it until you get companion ready for prime time. Messing with our hearing impaired lifestyle like this is seriously not cool. I would have bought another brand of aids if I had known companion would be this bad. I based a lot of my hearing aid brand decision on the apps. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE listen to us and ENABLE Oticon on and allow us to use it while you fix Companion..Version: 1.2.2

Not useableMy Apple Watch can no longer pair with it at all, just carries on searching for ages. every time I try to change volume/settings/programme it takes ages to pair again. It then stays connected for a few seconds, but then quickly disconnects again. It’s awful! The other app wasn’t the best, but at least it sort of worked. The hearing aid just needs to stay connected permanently to the app. It’s always connected to the phone why can’t the app run in the background and stay connected so if we need to change anything quickly we can..Version: 1.2.2

Always loses connectionApp has huge potential but I’m so tired of connecting the aids with the app several times a day. I could be about to go into a meeting so want to quickly change the program and volume on the app but it constantly wants to reconnect which takes a while. Very frustrating..Version: 1.0.0

A big mistakeThis app is the slowest, most inconsistent app I’ve ever downloaded. I only did it because we were instructed to by oticon. I’m going to try to go back to the old app. Never had a problem with it. Don’t know why they changed..Version: 1.2.2

Terrible connectivityI’ve tried multiple times to connect these hearing aids to the app. It works maybe 25% of the time, if that. There is no rhyme or reason why it works or doesn’t. Completely random connectivity. You cannot rely on this app for the most basic function..Version: 1.2.2

UselessIt is 5 months since the last update. With 490 negative reviews and a 1.6 rating out of 5, one would think Oticon should be working 24/7 to come up with a workable update of the app. But NOTHING! The response from Oticon is we are working on it. Come on, Oticon. This is absolutely unacceptable behaviour! Get on with it NOW!.Version: 1.2.2

Bring Back Oticon On!!The Oticon Companion app which you now HAVE to use, since they no longer allow you to use Oticon On, is utter rubbish ☹️ and incredibly frustrating. Your hearing aids keep becoming disconnected and reconnecting them takes multiple attempts and lots of wasted time, opening and closing battery compartments, opening and closing app screens, settings screens, re-pairing hearing aids etc… The blurb says that Companion is a big improvement over the On app but I can’t see how or where this is the case. It doesn’t do anything “extra”, it performs far worse and even the “look” isn’t anything to get worked up about. This app was not tested enough before it was released and the forced switchover to Companion from the previous On app ought to be challenged in a court of law. If I had the money I would do so myself. It’s bad enough being hearing impaired without idiots like this crowd making life even worse!! Shame on you Oticon!! Bring back the On app and destroy this shocking Companion travesty forever!! Yours truly Totally Narked Off, Hampshire, UK.Version: 1.2.2

Terrible appThe new app is absolutely terrible. None of the suggested tips for connecting hearing aids to the app work. The only way I can connect my hearing aids to the app is by rebooting my phone. I’m not sure that it’s good for the phone and it takes several minutes to connect with the app. Very very frustrating. Definitely NOT an improvement over the previous Oticon app..Version: 1.2.2

CrapThis app is absolute crap! Please go back to the previous version. This app always drops. This app always Hass to be restarted. This app takes forever to connect with the hearing aids. This app is slow. The previous app had none of these problems. Absolute waste! Stay away..Version: 1.2.2

Lose sound on phone callsAlong with All the other issues everyone of reporting - I am sick of losing sound on phone calls - people keep saying can’t hear me. Have to press Speaker before the call is answered - 2 months since update of this app when do many complaining is really really bad.Version: 1.2.2

Too many problemsThis app needs a lot more testing and development. First up, it keeps disconnecting either one or both ears at random. And since upgrading iOS to 17.1, on iPhone 13 mini, my hearing aids (more 1) lost the pairing and I can’t get them to pair with my phone. One feature that should be there but isn't is the ability to connect to Apple Watch. Really poor app..Version: 1.2.2

Please bring original app backSince using this app it takes so long to find my hearing aids. Then when I switch to listen to TV it takes so long to load I have to refresh this and keep doing it then it works. I have tried to install and uninstall please fix it. The original app worked really well.Version: 1.2.2

Setting up ap for hearing aidsNew ap for orticon - please remember that the majority of hearing aid devices are used by older people - 1. They don’t like change 2. Keep it simple! I’ve only just set the ap up - time will tell how simple it will be to use 🥹.Version: 1.2.2

App is dysfunctionalOh how I miss the Oticon version I was forced to leave to use this supposedly improved version. Can’t explain why my left hearing aid indicates it is not connected however I can see it on the location map and when I joined a meeting the call streamed only to the left hearing aid supposedly not connected and the right has no steaming sound even though it indicates it is connected. The app inconsistently steams to both at the same time. Sorry the fix of opening the battery compartment is getting old and doesn’t always resolve the issue. Currently I am listening to a meeting through the supposedly disconnected left hearing aid. Even changing the battery need not change the situation. While many of features are easy to use and is nice to be able to adjust the sound as needed the app is very frustrating to use at times..Version: 1.2.2

Released too soon without advance noticeThey assumed everyone immediately installs new Apple Software and shutdown the previous working App. The new one has connection issues and takes forever to make a connection and it often can’t connect to both hearing aids. They imply issues my be tied to hearing aid software. If this was a potential issue then notification should have been made weeks ahead of time so one could get with your hearing aid provider to upgrade to their firmware if it was found to be out of date. I have learned that Apple’s first release of new operating software almost always have bugs so I wait at least 90 days before up grading. Too Bad Oticon failed to give the end user the option to continue with a working version of their software and Apple software that worked together..Version: 1.2.2

ScamOticon has made the original app nonfunctional with my Oticon hearing aids. The new app also does not allow my hearing aids to function through the app. This is a scam to force you to purchase new hearing aids. I have no idea why the company would make the original app to cease connectivity. Fortunately I have functionality through my iPhone.Version: 1.2.2

Terrible Connectivity IssuesI have an iPhone X which cannot upgrade to iOS17 which may be why using this App is so frustrating. Since upgrading to this App from the previous version when iOS17 launched I have had mediocre user experience. Sometimes it connects and sometimes it doesn’t. And when it doesn’t none of the suggested fixes works. I can’t be the only one having these problems but so far nothing has been done since the App’s introduction to fix these bugs. The old App worked reliably so it’s a real disappointment!!!.Version: 1.2.2

Useless appFor heavens sake Oticon scrap this app and bring back Oticon On. There were connectivity issues with the old app but nothing compared to the complete lack of functionality in this version. And your advice to “correct” the issue stinks. I do not want to have to fiddle about with my hearing aids turning them off and on again every time Bluetooth drops out which is about every 20 minutes. I am hugely disappointed not only in the product but also in your response to the problem. Having spent thousands of pounds on your top of the range aids it doesn’t seem unreasonable to me to expect better. My advice to anyone thinking of buying Oticon is to look elsewhere..Version: 1.2.2

Completely inaccessible app with Screen reader VoiceoverAs a long-term user of Oticon aids who happens to be blind, words cannot adequately convey my disappointment and frustration with this app. The previous app provided full accessibility to all of its features using Voiceover (the screen reader used by blind individuals on iPhones). The new app has been so poorly rendered that no features now work with Voiceover, cutting me off from features that were previously available. This includes features that are only available through the app, such as the Sound More Booster, and Remote Care. To add insult to injury, I was assured by a representative of the developer that the old app would not be discontinued until accessibility features were addressed. The old app was subsequently discontinued. I have tried to engage constructively. I have tried explaining how annoying and frustrating it is to spend thousands of dollars on a product that is at the top of the line, only to be let down by a disgracefully poor app whose design team has clearly given no consideration to accessibility. The sad thing is that all of the tools that could and should have been used to make the app accessible for blind users were right in front of them and were embedded really well into the old On and Remote apps. Please, escalate this review to your team lead, and do better..Version: 1.2.2

The latest app is uselessThis app is useless. There was nothing wrong with the original app after trying this app for awhile. I went back to the original app because it was much better and always stay connected to the hearing age, and now you have disconnected that app altogether, and I have no choice, but to use this one, and absolutely hated ring back the original one..Version: 1.2.2

Microphone settingMy grandma uses her phone as a microphone to receive sound when she is in lectures. In the new app, it is impossible to turn the microphone setting off! In the old app, it was one touch to turn it on and one touch to turn it off. Now it is a ridiculous seven step procedure that, despite my 87 year old grandma’s formidable intellect, is impossible for either of us to correctly execute. I really hope this feature is improved shortly, and that the microphone option can go back to the on-off one touch model..Version: 1.2.2

ShambolicWhat a mess ..down loaded app and it was ok for about an hour then one hearing aid disconnected itself for no reason…nothing would get it going ..had to turn off phone and restart it ..why did you not get it perfect before you launched new app…I would reinstall old Oticon on but I,m afraid it will just be shut down without warning and I would be left deaf… very very disappointing as old app was perfect for many years…someone trying to run before they could walk it seems… Contacted Oticon ……….as for the standard response…….reach out to them for help..!!!! How about reaching out to users and putting the app right……. Having been and had the actual aids up dated I expected an improvement but no the App is still useless and keeps disconnecting . Which at times is very embarrassing….. Oticon should be ashamed of themselves..phoning the help line is absolutely useless.I give up..pity the old app is not available as that worked perfectly .. 2024. THREE MONTHS LATER AND ITS STILL USELESS…KEEPS DISCONNECTING…..FED UP WITH IT …..AND EMBARRASSED BY Continually BEING LEFT DEAF DURING CONVERSATIONS……COME ON OTICON DO US ALL A FAVOUR AND GO BACK TO THE OLD APP …🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏.Version: 1.2.2

Still disconnects too much and please add the items at the bottom.Has 2 equalizers now. One for streaming and one to use with your programs directly. That is a major improvement. As usual with hearing aids, connectivity is an issue as well as the speed of the connectivity. The slowest connecting app I have ever used is the Phonak and this one is twice as fast as that. When one aid will not connect I close the app out completely and restart and it and it has connected with both aids most of the time. When this has not worked I try turning my Bluetooth off and on and then restarting the app. This works most of the time but the final thing is to restart the aids themselves. My Audiologist said not to have a bunch of other programs running in the background and they will connect faster and more often. Also, I had to update my firmware to make this latest app version install correctly. Oticon should have put in the app notes that you need the latest firmware for this to work. I’m betting that a lot of people did not benefit from the new version because they didn’t know about the firmware update. Please add the ability to create your own program. For those without symmetrical hearing loss a separate equalizer would be great for each ear. Finally, please add dynamic noise reduction to the music program. Too much noise, can’t use it. Also would be helpful when singing. EarPods should not be that much better then hearing aids that cost thousands more. Please fix this..Version: 1.2.2

Oticon companionI had not ever had problems with the Oticon On app, but the oticon companion is awful. It does not always connect, I have to constantly close app and restart. When aids are working app just says connecting. This may take 5 min and still do not connect. Info on battery life is useless. Oticon will not work with old app, forced to use this bad app. My nxt hearing aids will NOT be Oticon. Too much trouble, with servicing. I do have older model but now cannot be serviced. When I purchased this rechargeable option, after 18 months the charge would not last half a day . Then not even 4 hrs. So I have to use reg batteries. It is easier and lasts. I talked to my audiologist and he said it was a design problem. They no longer can fix. Since it is over a year no help. Well hearing aids are ok but service and reliability and now this awful app. My next pair will not be Oticon.Version: 1.2.2

Slow to connectI switched apps as per the instructions. This app takes about 3 to 4 times longer to connect. Sometimes over a minute! The previous app connected within 15 seconds. It’s very frustrating if I need to change programmes or mute. Please work on this..Version: 1.2.2

ReviewThis new app is absolutely useless. It d doesn’t work if you have any background apps running. Also you have to keep disconnect and connecting hearing aids so the app then picks up when you want to change channels. Half the time doesn’t work either as the disconnect Connect function just doesn’t take up useless. The old app you had was far better. Really am upscaling to give it a star.Version: 1.2.2

Persistent problemsSince changing over to Oticon Companion I have had nothing but problems and have to keep deleting the App and then reinstalling it again. It won't change the programmes it is blank at the top and the sound bars only go up to 1 I have to change the programmes by pressing the buttons on my hearing aids. I keep pairing the aids as instructed and works for just a few minutes then fails again. I tried to go back to the old app which has now been deleted. I never had any problems with Oticon On. Please can you fix all these problems with your new app as at the moment it is useless or at least bring back the old app so I can use it..Version: 1.2.2

This is unbelievably poor and a retrograde step against previous versionJust been advised I have to adopt this “companion” app to replace ON version. The connectivity is atrocious and unacceptable as switching from IPhone to IPad is followed by many attempts to connect involving multiple restarts of aids visits to the accessibility in settings and watching as aids fail to connect despite reloading the app and deleting previous version which was fairly reliable. The supposed benefits are not clear when you are connected so all in all a total disaster from a supposedly global company!.Version: 1.2.2

App unpairsI collected new oticon hearing aids yesterday and installed the latest version of this app. My professional expert had to pair to my new iPhone using the phone settings as the app didn’t pair. Within an hour the app said one of the aids was disconnected when it wasn’t, and I couldn’t get the app to re-pair. So after trying for a long time I deleted the app and I am just using the direct iPhone screen under settings to control the aids, which is a bit less convenient but mostly works around the app problem. Hopefully oticon Will sort it out with a better app. The latest fix didn’t work for me..Version: 1.2.2

Unhappy!!This app is very unreliable. When I open the app on iPhone often one or both have disconnected and have to close the app and restart so adjustments can be made. Very inconvenient when you are in the middle of a conversation or a meeting. App does not deserve even one star..Version: 1.2.2

Oticon CompanianA terrible app, I have to reinstall before every use and it will not recognize both hearing aids unless you replace both batteries which still have lots of charge available. Please Oticon fix these problems!! I will not recommend them until these problems are corrected!! Simply a terrible app. Get different hearing aids. Kakwa.Version: 1.2.2

Useless - hopelessly long to reconnectAlthough limited in its functions, I found the old app really useful. However each time I want to use this new app to change settings in noisy environments, it takes so long to reconnect to the hearing aids that I usually just give up - really disappointing. Please make it useable again as a matter of priority.Version: 1.2.2

Persistent connection problemsI changed from Oticon On, as advised, and have experienced frustrating connectivity problems. Connection is repeatedly lost and I have to turn off the app completely and restart before it reconnects. (Not easy to do if I suddenly need to change program). Twice I have had to turn off the whole phone and restart (iPhone 12 with iOS 16). Sometimes connection is not completely lost but the program options disappear, also frustrating. The app does not support “hearing fitness” on my aids, this is not advertised and is very disappointing. Aesthetically the screen is over bright and when the program choices are available they are less easily selected making this, in my view, a very poor upgrade. Andrew Summers.Version: 1.2.2

A very poor AppI certainly didn’t expect such a poor app from Oticon. I have had my Real 1 aids for nearly a week now (changed from GN) and when going to the app I find one or other or both aids have dropped out and it is such a rigmarole to try and sort it out. Having sorted it I then find it’s dropped out again next time I use the app. After 5 days the app still shows battery level at 100% (not rechargeable). To try to overcome this Oticon expect you to jump through hoops to try to get an accurate reading, none of which helps. Very frustrating! I expected Oticon’s app to be seamless particularly given that their aids are the most expensive. GN by comparison was seamless indeed a joy to use..Version: 1.2.2

CompanionWorst phone app I have ever used. “Forced to use” I should say. Garbage. Come on Oticon ….. you can do better than this. Zero stars actually..Version: 1.2.2

Old app way betterOticon companion is not reliable, have to keep reloading to get it to work.Version: 1.2.2

Terrible app - enough to make me change brandsThe old oticon app worked pretty well, this one is enough to make me want to change hearing aid brands. It’s terrible, the connectivity has to be reset nearly every time. I literally have to put aside an extra 5-10 minutes to connect my hearing aids now.Version: 1.2.2

Oticon Companion - ConnectivitySince losing the Oticon On app as instructed to replace with Oticon Companion the Connectivity has been a hit or a miss. On my iPad it will show me right aid connected but wont connect my left aid and on my iPhone it’s the opposite. Then when I go later neither show as connected on my iPad or on my iPhone. Now today the app shows my Bluetooth is not connected when it’s switched on and working on both my iPad and iPhone. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app on both iPad and iPhone and it still shows in the app Bluetooth connection required when the Bluetooth is on and working. Give us a working app as good as it was on Oticon on please.Version: 1.2.2

Hearing aids are disconnected constantlyEvery time I open the app to adjust volume or change the program I have to reconnect, even when I connected a few minutes before. This just happened: I put my aids on. A few minutes later, I needed to adjust the volume. I opened the app, the aids were not connected, so I put them back in the charger, put them back on my ears, and connected in the app. A few minutes after that, I decided to watch TV and opened the app to change the program so I can better hear the TV. I had to reconnect the hearing aids again. Other Bluetooth devices I use with my iPhone do not do this. Reconnecting works best by putting the hearing aids back in the charger and then removing them, but the charger isn’t always available. Using the buttons on the aids themselves does not consistently reconnect them to the app. I do close the app by double-clicking it at least once daily. Sometimes that helps, sometimes it doesn’t..Version: 1.1.0

Not as reliable as the old appDon’t care about fancy features, don’t care about a pretty layout, but I do care about responsiveness and a quick & trouble-free, connection to my More One hearing aids. The old app did that. The new one, not nearly as quick or reliable. Please don’t release apps unless proven to be as good as the one they replace..Version: 1.2.1

Poor performance on upgraded appAfter having to upgrade to the newer app on replacing my iPhone, am totally disappointed with its performance. It won’t allow access to volume control, and takes ages to load it’s battery levels each time I select the icon. Have removed and reloaded app several times but makes no difference. Absolutely disappointing, bring back the older version please as I had instant access to volume control and battery levels and didn’t need to restart my phone every time to use the controls..Version: 1.2.2

Shameful treatment of people using hearing aidsI wrote another review a few days ago describing the reasons this app is terrible. My concerns echo everyone else who wrote a review and is stuck with this app. I also contacted customer support but have not received anything back that will help. I will be contacting my insurance company who actually paid for my expensive hearing aids. Mine are only a little I’ve a year old and I was happily using the old app, which worked fine. Then one morning a week or so ago they disabled the old app and required us to use this non functioning one. Hearing loss is a DISABILITY! This company is crassly disregarding the needs of the hearing impaired. There has been no explanation from the company. I will be contacting someone from the office of the ADA. At the very least the company should let us use the old app and they should give us all an explanation. They should also pay us all for the lack of functionality during this time. I’m thinking a class action lawsuit might be appropriate..Version: 1.2.2

Connection issuesTakes forever to connect to the hearing aids,..Version: 1.2.2

Not SureI downloaded this app and deleted my old app as per instructions. This app has no HearingFitness, if it does I sure could find it. It is not where the instructions say it is. I have gone back to my old Oticon ON app for now. Hope they get this fixed and I will try it again..Version: 1.2.2

UselessThis app is totally useless. I had to change because Oticon On was removed. I connected my hearing aids to the app with Bluetooth and am now out of town with the app not working. I’ve run through all the suggestions but the hearing aids are not connecting nor will they so I’m without any control of them through my iPhone. I tried the new app before and had same problems so reverted back to old app. Now I don’t have a usable app. I continue to have connectivity problems. Half the time I can’t connect the hearing aids. Why oh why did some bright spark think this would be better than Oticon On. Methinks he or she doesn’t have hearing loss or hearing aides..Version: 1.2.2

Bring back ONThis is a real backward step. The new Companion App has significant issues. My hearing aids continually disconnect and need to be reset every time I want to make a change of settings. Also, I cannot access the mini equaliser when using my tinnitus program (already logged with Oticon support). Scrap this upgrade and let us access ON until Companion has been more rigourously tested, and works! Oticon should be hanging their heads in shame. Companion was released months ago and despite hundreds of poor reviews the only responses are to download the latest version or contact Support. The latest version is still rubbish and Support (in UK) are sympathetic but unable to respond until someone in Denmark gets this sorted. Oticon, you have a great product but this App renders it no better than third rate!.Version: 1.2.2

The worst!I used to have the Oticon app that came before this one and it worked awesome (I have Oticon Opn S1 aids). Upon opening the app it would connect my hearing aids almost instantly, giving me quick and easy access to the volume controls and the programs, such as the tv adapters I have. This new app however, upon opening, takes so long to connect to my hearing aids, sometimes minutes!! The best way I’ve gotten it to work is by quitting and reopening the app several times until it connects, otherwise it will just get stuck on stupid for a long time. I’ll be sitting on the couch ready to watch a movie with my husband and we both have to sit there for minutes just to see my aids pop up on the app so that I can control the volume of the tv adapter before we can start. It’s terrible and really needs to be fixed. Of course I can connect to the tv adapter without the app but I need the app in order to control the volume, as the default volume is much too loud for me. Anyway, I miss the old app. Please fix this one!!.Version: 1.2.2

AwfulPlease bring back Oticon On This companion is awful, it’s slow, takes forever to connect, drops Bluetooth at regular intervals Throughout the day, abysmal, I am missing Important dialogue in meetings as when the Hearing aids drop out it takes forever to Re connect, if at all. I have lost count of the Amount of times I am having to completely Turn off my phone for the hearing aids to Re connect. ( NEVER HAPPENED WITH OTICON ON ) come on , get it together, because It is not fit for purpose. The 1.2.2 version is rubbish it does not cure any of the problems we are all experiencing.Version: 1.2.2

Connection issues ruin the appOticon has had months to work with the iOS 17 beta, to ensure that the Companion app would work perfectly when it was released to the general public. Unfortunately, there are major connection issues here. I'm not sure it's entirely the fault of the app, or whether it's also just the terrible Bluetooth in Oticon hearing aids. However, even when the Hearing Devices section of the phone settings says it's connected to both hearing aids, the Companion app will usually say either just one is connected or both are disconnected. Yes, restarting the hearing aids, the app, and even the phone can eventually connect the devices, but to have to go through this *each time* you want the Companion app to work with the hearing aids is insane. I *just* got new Oticon Real hearing aids (upgrading from my old Oticons), and I love them, but the app really destroys the experience. At this point, I honestly wish Apple would get into the hearing aids business and wipe out the competition..Version: 1.2.2

Poor qualityI unfortunately cannot give this application no stars so I will have to give it one star. I cannot count the number of times it has disconnected either one or both of my hearing aids. This then requires the app to be removed and reinstalled. A tedious task. According to developers we should install version 1.2.2 to solve this problem. This is however that version. My audiologist tried to tell me that it was an IOS problem with the iPhone and that version 17.3 or 17.4 would cure the problem. Considering that the latest IOS version is 17.1.1 and the fact that Apple have neither of the versions in the pipeline I somehow doubt this. The old version was much much better, bring it back to prevent these problems please..Version: 1.2.2

Review #2 - I hate itI’m writing another review because as something that is essential to those who wear hearing aids, it just does not work. I hate it so much, I used the previous app multiple times during the day to adjust the sound of my aids prior to meetings or important talks. I’d mute them to listen to music or simply have peace and quiet whilst knowing I could turn the sound back on at a touch. I can’t do that now. If I mute my hearing aids and reopen the app after a while, it’s disconnected and won’t reconnect unless I restart the app. If someone wants to talk to me, it’s so embarrassing to ask them to wait while I get them to connect and get sound back on. I don’t think anyone who makes this app is hard of hearing or deaf, because you don’t understand what it’s like to have an app that worked fine, be told you can’t use it anymore and the new updated app does not work around your daily life. People should not have to restart it, it should stay connected like the previous app did. Just please realise people use this to make their life better, improve it to at least be the same quality as Oticon On was. For now, if this doesn’t improve by my next hearing appointment at the doctors I’ll have to request a different brand of hearing aids because I don’t have the patience to live with this when I don’t have to..Version: 1.2.2

Nothing has been fixedDownloaded and used as part of the Beta test group. The feed back I left then is STILL the same. Continually disconnecting from the left hearing aid and then takes several tries to reconnect. Only to have to repeat the process several times during the day. Also if you use the live microphone there will be times it won’t give up its control so if you use the actual phone the person you are talking to can’t hear you. You need to reset network settings. Despite the developer saying things have been fixed they haven’t. Contact the developer was their last response…great and how would I do that? Oticon plays everything so close to the chest you can’t get any response. If you want a laugh read the responses left on the reviews. It’s pretty much one of three canned response….or they use a chatbot to respond..Version: 1.2.2

Very poor tinnitus supportNo major issues with the hearing aid. However, the function I need the most, tinnitus support, is lacking. The old app in place when I purchased was very helpful, not perfect but helpful. It was discontinued and no longer supported for the ‘new and improved’ app that DOES NOT HAVE THIS FEATURE. Now I must purchase a 3rd party app that only works when the phone is near my hearing aids. With the original app from you I could be away from my phone and still get the tinnitus support sounds coming directly from the hearing aids AND NOT STREAMING TO THE AIDS. Now, whenever I go anywhere in the house, car , walking, bed, etc I must have the phone with me to stream. PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD APP OR THE TINNITUS SUPPORT FEATURE TO THE ‘new and improved’ app that is a step in the wrong direction. Thanks.Version: 1.2.2

Companion App - disconnect of hearing aidsI recently fumbled through the installation process for your new Oticon Companion App. I am not a “techie” so I had a great deal of difficulty with the entire process. After the program was installed, and appeared to be working (without all the features shown on the preview) I was able to make sound level adjustments and check the battery charge level. Since the installation the App has become disconnected from my right hearing aid. It has happened 3 times in one 24 hour period. The only way I can reconnect to the App is to turn the phone off and back on. This is very annoying. I notice from other rating reviews that this happens to others as well and that you are attempting to correct this issue. I would prefer to have the former program available for use by those who were satisfied with it. C J Staples.Version: 1.2.2

Terrible appIt is 5 months since Oticon had the last update of the ap. With universal negative reviews and a rating of 1.6 stars out of 5, one would think Oticon would be working 24/7 to come up with a better update. But Nothing! Oticon’s response is we are working on it. It is absolutely unacceptable corporate behavior that ignores customer complaints. Come on Oticon. Get on with it and give us a new update that WORKS!.Version: 1.2.2

Worse than the originalI didn’t think you could rework an app and actually make it worse, but the developers at Oticon have managed to do it! Drops Bluetooth connection and very slow to connect, if it will connect at all. Too much more to get into. If you know you know. I’m pretty good troubleshooting tech stuff, but this app is beyond belief. I can’t imagine being an elder and new to apps, et al, and having to navigate this POS app..Version: 1.2.2

ClunkyCome on Oticon. For the price and quality of your aids you need a much better app than this..Version: 1.2.2

TerribleThe companion is ok if it works but I have found it doesn’t work much of the time. I have my third set of Omicron aids and have always been satisfied until this new app. It is terrible and has using my aids almost impossible. I have to constantly delete the app and then pair them since one or both of them stop working. I would get them working again and shortly thereafter one would lose the pairing and fail to work. At one time I could not even change the programming. I took them back to the person I purchased them from and she spoke to a Omicron representative and she followed instructions to reprogram them and they worked properly until I left her office. I got so desperate that I took off the molds and placed them on my old aids. I can not recommend Omicron to anyone and before I used to praise the The companion software has bugs in it that it almost makes it impossible to use the app for an entire day. It works sometimes and when you least expect it stops working and you are left in the dark. I have been complaining since it was released but no one has ever called me from the company. They think that we are all computer savvy but fail to take into account that many of us are disabled and can’t always follow their instructions and there are times when we do it still doesn’t help..Version: 1.2.2

A bit ropeyI have just changed from oticon on to this it’s not as good as the oticon on app which I had no trouble at all with I have two xceed 1up aids I had no trouble connecting but it has dropped connection once with both aids and once with the left aid so not a good start I wish I had kept with oticon on app but they have said it will not work with Apple os17 the connection issue need work done Update it is more than ropey it is useless I have to connect and reconnect loads of times it does this every day and is very annoying it shouldn’t even get one star 😡.Version: 1.2.2

GIVE US BACK THE PREVIOUS VERSIONStill awful!!.Version: 1.2.2

Lack of compatibility with apple productsI have written several reviews about its lack of connectivity to Apple products. One suggestion by the Oticon technical help people was to delete the Oticon app which I did, and connectivity was fine for two days. I was able to use the power button to adjust the hearing aids, but lost the ability to locate them should they be lost which happened once when the speaker disconnected from the hearing aid? Fortunately, I went back to where I think I lost it after driving away and I did find it on my own. Why is it that they tell you to connect far away from other Bluetooth products. I have no issue with Bluetooth using Apple AirPods or my car or my iPad. Something is wrong. I would consider meeting with the Apple company and communicating with their Bluetooth engineers as they seem to have gotten it down correctly..Version: 1.2.2

Poor AppWhy the need to constantly change or modernise these apps amazes me. Like other reviewers the last app worked perfectly. No problems for my current hearing aids. With this new app nothing works. In particular the need each time I am out of my home to try and get syncing between the app and my phone. Never had this problem with the old app. Wonderful hearing aids, poor app..Version: 1.2.2

Hopping madI downloaded the app and this new version doesn’t support my Oticon hearing aids. There is absolutely nothing wrong with them and I don’t want to have to buy another pair. I am 80 years old. This is outrageous, customers should have been warned that this was going to happen. I can no longer adjust the sound or connect my hearings aids to the app….Version: 1.2.2

DisappointedBecause of how poorly this app works with my older hearing aids, when they do need replacing, I will not be purchasing the oticon brand..Version: 1.2.2

Useless. Not reliable. 0 starThis app is useless. It does not stay connected to the hearing aids making it useless or not reliable. I am considering returning my Oticon Real miniRITE R and ask for a full refund. Iphone 15 IOS 17.2.1.Version: 1.2.2

Hopeless App- A very disappointed User. …This ‘new’ app should have been tested and improved before launching. It doesn’t connect the hearing aids. The only way I get any use out of it is turning off my phone then turning it back on again. Connection takes too long, you cannot do it discreetly as mentioned and it is completely useless. I contacted the company and was given a whole lot of instructions how to use this app and non of them didn’t work. I was a constant user of the previous app and found it was always connected and I regularly changed settings for my lifestyle of noisy restaurants and outdoor activities without any problem. Why try and fix something that was working well. A very disappointed customer. Will have to change my brand if this continues. Only gave it 1 Star as it would send with NO STARS. Just read through some of the other Reviews. I’m not alone with the trouble I’m having with this app. Please do something about it ASAP..Version: 1.2.2

Terrible appThe old app was bad, but this is the worst hearing aid spp i have seen. If I could give it zero stars i would have. Still the worst app ever for Oticon hearing aids. Absolutely terrible. Oticon, for Krist sake fix it now!.Version: 1.2.2

Problem after problemVery annoying app-need to delete app and reinstall it again every time I want to use it. Sometimes it doesn’t even last a whole day working properly and without having to reinstall it. I see other users have had the same issues as I have. Please do something about it as we hearing aid users have often paid extortionate amounts for our aids only to be unable to adjust them with this useless app. Please let me know if you are going to do something about this. Jennifer Lockwood.Version: 1.2.2

Worst app possible.I was very happy with the last two versions of this app. Why would the developer release an update that is so much worse than the old one? Anyone who had anything to do with this development should be fired and then be caned in the town square. Don’t they try these things before they release them? It takes forever to connect to hearing aids. Then continually disconnects. If only I could go back to the old one. Worst thing is that they MUST know how bad it is by now and yet they have not released an update to fix all the glitches and bugs..Version: 1.2.2

Bad connectivity and only basic functionalityAs others have noted, Bluetooth connectivity is hit and miss, with “miss” occurring far more frequently than should be the case. The app also only offers limited, basic functionality that should be expanded if it’s to serve as an integral part of a very expensive hearing system. For example, currently a simple three band equalizer is available for streaming. Why not make a more powerful EQ that can be used under any circumstances? Why not allow users the ability to customize or adjust settings as needed? I hope that the developer upgrades the app in ways that optimize the functionality of their hearing aids and does this fairly quickly. If hardware depends on software to achieve its full potential, the software can’t be an afterthought..Version: 1.2.2

Waste of timeBring back the old App This one is a disaster One day recognises both aids Next day either L or R Have deleted and uploaded App almost every 2-3 days just to then have it muck me around again Oticon - drop this from crappy version and reinstate the previous one.Version: 1.2.2

Terrible!Octicon needs to remember that the majority of there customers are Elderly, and find new technology difficult my Dad is 89 and quite frail and was used to the old app, he has had to relearn this app, and I am constantly trying to reconnect, his hearing aids now, quite often one one his hearing aids will lose connection which only started once we had no other option but to down load this new app, it also takes ages to connect where as the original took seconds. The old app worked very well, you need to update this App to the standard of the old app or just go back to the Original app.Version: 1.2.2

Kills my batteryAudiologist suggested switching to the new app as it worked better, but I found it would drop one aid or the other during phone calls or listening to music. Also paid a visit to Apple store as battery life has been abysmal. Unfortunately it seems to be this app..Version: 1.1.0

Terrible appTerrible app and nonexistent support, as evidenced by the continued presence of the previous version being left on here only for you to find once you try and go back to that better version that all it does is tell you to redirect to the current poor version. The work around on iPhone is to forget the Oticon help screen and just go to your iPhone settings, find the devices and reboot using “forget” then re-find and that brings it back to life for a bit..Version: 1.2.2

The original one was betterI tried this app a few weeks ago and found it didn’t always connect with my hearing aids, I then deleted it and went back to the original version, I only have it now as when I opened up the original app it came up with a message that we now have to use it. At one point since downloading it I couldn’t change the program to switch off the rear microphone. You also show in the information in the App Store that we can adjust the tones, this doesn’t show how to on the actual app. Richard.Version: 1.2.2

Connection problemsVery poor old app much better this version takes forever to connect.Version: 1.2.2

Connection Issues and Watch ComplicationOticon Companion is working fine for me. By the time I take the aids off their charger and clean the tips, the aids are connected. They seem to stay connected as long as the iPhone is close by. If I go out of range then return, the aids will normally be disconnected. A quick way to reconnect is to close Companion, then restart. In my experience, it takes less than 10 seconds to connect. Ok, we NEED an Apple Watch complication. My work around is to sort watch apps by the Grid method and then move the Oticon icon to the top row. A quick press on the Digital Crown will then bring up your apps in the Grid mode. Your most used apps should have already been moved to the top or to the position of your choice..Version: 1.2.2

Forced to switch, but hearing aids aren’t compatibleI am using Oticon Opn hearing aids. I have been an Oticon ON app user for a long time. I also use a TV streaming device. Most importantly, I used the app to switch programs on my hearing aids, so that I can use the streamer. When I attempt to pair my Oticon Opn hearing aids with this new “Companion” app, it gives me an error message that my “hearing aids are not compatible with this app.” Even though the App Store description says that it’s compatible with all Oticon Bluetooth hearing aids (albeit with certain features limited for some models). Now that I’ve been forced (locked) out of the old Oticon ON app, I have no way to switch my hearing aid programs other than to use the native iPhone Hearing Aid management tools. This switch has been a disaster for customers who’ve been relying on a solution that worked just fine. Now we are forced out of ANY solution..Version: 1.2.2

BluetoothI just replaced my old hearing aids and love the new ones and am enjoying the app, however there is room for improvement. I have both an iPhone and iPad and the issue I have with the app is that the bluetooth cannot be active on both devices at the same time! I use the iPhone when out and about and then come home and switch to the iPad and feel like I’m going crazy when the app works for a bit on the iPad and then just disconnects! Then it dawns on me that I have to turn off bluetooth on the iPhone before it will connect again on the iPad! I also listen to audio books using “Spoken Content/Speak Screen” and hear annoying clicks..Version: 1.2.2

Does anyone at Oticon read these reviews…?They are not… because if they did read them….they would be working 24 hours a day on fixing the problems…I have never read so many bad reviews for an app and still on going… If I had known what I know today about the problems of connectivity, stability and overall poor performance of the app, I would not have bought Oticon earrings aids. Because in 2023 almost 2024, being able to easily connect to iPhone, iPad or tablet , tv is a basic standard. Apparently at Oticon they don’t think so..Version: 1.2.2

RidiculeSur les 50 applications de mon iPhone, c’est de loin la pire. Ce programmeur a un urgent besoin d’aide. C’est pathétique..Version: 1.2.2

Worst app for hearing aidThe old Oticon app was quick and you could change volume and with a quick glance see battery life. This new app is so slow often doesn’t register both hearing aids even though the are both working, battery life takes ages to load. Wish you could revert back to the old app but you are stuck with this one. Very annoyed with this app..Version: 1.2.2

Retrograde stepOticon Companion has proved much less reliable than its predecessor. Every single day, one or other of my hearing aids is no longer connected to the app even though they are both connected to the phone, and about 50% of the time the option of the “My Music” programme has disappeared, even though the phone itself still allows you to switch between them. Every time I go to use the app I have to uninstall it and then reinstall it to fix these problems. It then works fine, until I open it up again to use it. I would much rather have the old app again but it’s not available anymore. I emailed Oticon support about it and was told I would get a response in 4 working days. Over a week later I have still not had a reply..Version: 1.2.2

Why change the format?!!! - seniorsMy aging mom struggles enough with using technology as I know many seniors do. WHY would you make aging seniors, relying on their hearing aids and the Oticon app, have to now navigate a new design to find a way to turn up the volume on their hearing aid!!!! Go back to the previous layout!.Version: 1.2.2

DisappointedI have had my Oticon hearing aids for a number of years, with the original Oticon app, there were no connection issues what so ever, as soon as I came into Bluetooth range of my phone they would connect automatically, as soon as I switched to listen to TV they would connect straight away, the new Companion app has made all these features useless, they no longer connect to my phone automatically when I come into Bluetooth range, the hearing aids have to be constantly turned off and on to try and get them to connect, it is as if the developers of the new Companion app were paid off by a rival hearing aid company to obtain a better market share, I am at a loss as to why Oticon thinks the Companion app in its current form is acceptable, I will certainly being looking at other brands of hearings aids in the near future because of the connection issues with this useless Companion app.Version: 1.2.2

Inconsistent ResultsThis version does not provide consistent results monitoring nor operating my hearing aids. I am no longer sure of what is happening with my hearing aids. I can not trust any displayed result of the functioning of my hearing aids.Version: 1.2.2

New app is a failureThe old app was simple to use and reliable. I purchased my hearring aid because I wanted Bluetooth connectivity and to be able to control it via an app. The old app no longer works. The new app will not connect to my hearing aid. I am getting a message that my hearing aid is not compatible with this app! Please fix this asap..Version: 1.2.2

Terrible! This app and the older app are terrible. The hearing aids are outstanding so I find it hard to believe that this company cannot develop an app that will work properly and stay connected. If you leave the phone for any period of time the hearing aids need to be restarted to reconnect. Why not have the app ping for the hearing aids periodically and connect aromatically? Also as of the latest update by apple and or Oticon or both I cannot get my hearing aids to connect through the app at all. I tried restarting the phone and the app but no luck. If Oticon would just get out of the proprietary mode and simply allow them to connect like any other device that may solve their issues resulting in improved customer experience. I had high hopes for significant improvements over the previous app but this one is actually worse if that is possible. Very disappointed..Version: 1.2.2

Lacks functionality + Slow unnecessary animationsAs far as I can tell, the only reason to use this app is to turn on speech booster— otherwise the native iOS functionality is faster for adjusting volume and switching programs. - App says firmware is up to date on hearing aids, even when they are very out of date. No way to update or even know updates are available for devices. - No way to adjust volume mix for telecoil vs mic - no way to adjust volume mix of streaming audio vs mic. 3 band equalizer so crude as to be effectively useless - can’t apply any eq to mic sounds, only streaming. So, if you wanted to adjust your mymusic experience for a particular moment, you can’t. - related, but no way to have some play over eq for better communication with audiologist during fitting. - connection speed to aids ludicrously slow, yet native iOS functionality is always connected and zippy fast - new app has even more unnecessary, slow animations that slow everything down, why??? - toggles and buttons respond with delay, so you wind up toggling features on-then-off-then-on-then-off because you can’t tell it registered your input - app (and prior app) didn’t bother to notify users that prior app was replaced and won’t even boot in ios17. You’d have to know that service was being discontinued, otherwise, you just lose functionality to your hearing aids..Version: 1.2.2

Poor quality update - what was the point?I used to use the previous version of this app every day however since the update to Companion I am unable to even get my hearing aid to connect. The help advice is worse than useless. I have tried reseating my aid in the charger and also turning it off & back on but nothing changes. It simply does not connect with my hearing aid. I have deleted the app. What’s the point of keeping something that doesn’t work..Version: 1.2.2

A step backwardsThe reliability of Companion compared to On is terrible. Constantly disconnects and needs rebooting. I have deleted and reinstalled made no difference, changed aids, made no difference. Contacted Oticom and their advise was to reinstall, what a recommendation. The time it takes to come on line is also slower than On . This app appears to have been written for the benefit of Oticom not the user. Option have responded to this review with some excellent advice about using the hearing controls built into the IPhone on the quick Home Screen menu as well as their hope to address my concerns on the App in the next update..Version: 1.2.2

Connect to phoneThis’updated’ app is rubbish compared with the app it supersedes which was oticon on. Never had any issues with the old version after using it for 3+ years. The new app fails to connect a lot, and tells me a hearing aid is disconnected and out of battery when it’s not - I know this because I can still hear thru the aid and it will still adjust volume..Version: 1.2.2

Plenty of issues to sort outThe App is becoming unusable. Repeatedly tells me to download the new app. I am using it. My aids do not stay connected, continually losing connection. The Hearing Aids are GREAT, what they require is a functioning app? Please sort the issues out. The experience at present is disappointing. The App was fine until the latest update. One really annoying bug, once the aids are connected and one leaves the phone say in another room the aids disconnect. There is nothing wrong with my network, it is fast and covers the whole house. Hope I can upgrade this review soon. Thank you..Version: 1.2.2

IncompatibleWhy would you force me to upgrade to the new app and then, after upgrading, tell me that my hearing aides are not compatible with the new app. Give me back the old app!!!!!.Version: 1.2.2

Ok but nothing specialNo shortcut capabilities. Limited Siri integration. Constant alerts “checkout the new app” even though the app has been installed for 3 months. It works but could be much better..Version: 1.2.2

Why don’t you read the reviews Oticon?Never ending connection issues with this app. I looked at reviews to see if it was just me, and find so many people having exactly the same problem. It seems clear that nobody at Oticon reads the reviews or even cares that the app simply doesn’t work anything like as well as the old one. For hard of hearing people like us an app is absolutely essential. Please bring back Oticon On. I really can’t believe you are paying people to produce such an unreliable and downright useless app like Oticon Companion..Version: 1.2.2

Slowest app everThe old version was very poor and this new version is even worse. The only way to mute my hearing aids is with this app and it takes forever to connect if at all. If I go outside in the wind I have to mute my hearing aids but I have to walk for a few minutes in agony from all the wind noise waiting for this stupid app to connect. Sometimes I have to turn off one aid and back on before it connects. I’m a professional musician and it is impossible to have my hearing aids on when rehearsing or performing and this horrible app makes muting an ordeal. Sometimes in the middle of a performance one of my aids will suddenly turn on after they were muted and the only way to mute is to get my phone out and turn on this app which is impossible while performing. The previous version of this app wasn’t very good but much better than this new version and it kept track of usage as well. For the outrageous amount Opticon hearing aids cost the app should be much better. Another question is why the hearing aid microphones can’t be used for phone calls?.Version: 1.2.2

TerribleAfter happily using the previous app with no problems my Octicon Engage I have lost all ability to bluetooth with my phone. The problem started on 5 Nov 2023. I have followed the pairing instructions lots of times and the hearing aids disconnect after 30 seconds. This is incredibly frustrating. I called the Oticon support line and they recognised that there were problems and they were working to fix it. There is a complete failure with the company to communicate to users as well as showing any sort of leadership to fix the problem. This is so poor and simply unacceptable..Version: 1.2.2

Lots of issuesThe updated app has some nice features. HOWEVER, the app is frustrating. At first, there were constant connectivity issues. There are still occasional issues. There has been some improvement, but it still needs work. In an update (maybe for iOS 17?) the motion notification sound changed. The reason I wear hearing aids is because I don’t hear some frequencies (high) very well!!! The new motion notification alert sound is a frequency I don’t hear well. When I called support, I was essentially told, “Sorry. Too bad. There is no way to change the sound in iOS.” The app has been wonky the last few days - difficulty connecting hearing aids to the app, app not showing my pre-programmed options, and dropping connection. The app is nice - when it works..Version: 1.2.2

This new app is inconsistentI used the Oticon On app since I got my hearing aids 3 years ago and it was a game changer for me. I no longer missed phone calls because with the Bluetooth connection I would hear phone calls even if I was separated from my phone. And being able to hear directly in my aids from my phone was wonderful! But this new app, Oticon Companion, is very inconsistent with the Bluetooth connection, so I miss more of my phone calls and can no longer listen through the Bluetooth to audible books on my phone. It leaves me feeling very frustrated and no longer feel good about the Oticon brand. The app is pretty worthless, but there is no other alternative if you have Oticon hearing aids. 😡I have no idea why they thought changing the app was a good business move. I’m hoping they get the kinks worked out soon with this app, but looking at the other low ratings in the reviews it looks like I might be holding my breath for nothing..Version: 1.2.2

Good and annoying featuresWe’ll there are good and bad things about this app. First the good- I like the programs and the quick access. The music program is clearly fuller than the general program and the equalizer let’s you program it further. The lecture mode is good for watching tv. It’s so good that my wife complains when I turn the sound down because it’s too loud. Maybe she should get her own hearing aids? Now the bad - I have to reboot the app almost every morning because one device fails to connect properly - annoying. Moreover, the Bluetooth program they are using is horrible. If my Apple phone is in my right pocket then the left hearing aid will often skip when listening to music and vice versa. Phone in left pocket and right aid skips occasionally. Surely you can do better than that! I have an appt today with audiologist. If she can fix that then I’ll report back. One device also uses a charge faster than the other. It seems like oticon should balance the electronics in the two devices before sending them out? I’ll also ask about that. Overall, ok but not great.Version: 1.2.2

Don jackThis is the worst app I have ever used! Nothing works without resetting and constant monitoring. Every time I open the app I have to turn each hearing aid off and on again then turn my phone off and back on and then it might start to stream my TV sound..Version: 1.2.2

Takes a very long time to reconnect after app openedI got my brand new hearing aids yesterday, never had them before. I’m extremely pleased with them but am frustrated by the time they take to reconnect to the app. Having read the reviews, I have deleted this app and downloaded Oticon On which connects instantly. I know this is likely to be discontinued soon, but hope Oticon will sort out the reconnection issue on the Companion app before it is. The Companion app isn’t really usable as it is. Such a shame to bring out an inferior product and discontinue one that seems to work..Version: 1.2.2

Complete ignorance!!You are quite clearly not taking any notice whatsoever of the continual problems with this rubbish App and the constant complaints. Do you not realise the stress and upset this causes to people who rely on their hearing aids to work properly. It’s upsetting enough not being able to hear. Why can’t you just say what or if you are actually going to make any adjustments to this appalling App. The other App worked perfectly why did you stop using this? Also stop saying “our customer service will reach out to you” because you have not and clearly are still not doing anything. ABSOLUTELY USELESS!!!.Version: 1.2.2

Terrible app.It takes a long time to connect. One hearing aid took only about 30 seconds, the other one five minutes. When I connect to my t.v. box the default for sound is set at 14, super loud. Can’t see a way to turn it down before it connects. Battery level readout is way off. Day one, two new batteries, app said one battery was 40%, the other one 60%. Next day it said one battery was at 80 % the other at 50%. My old app worked way better than this one..Version: 1.2.2

Please fix this appWe have been forced to use this app and abandon the previous GOOD app (Oticon On) with the advent of iOS17. This new app just does not work as well. It is slow to recognise the hearing aids and the mute button sometimes doesn’t respond to my touch. I can’t say more strongly how disappointing this app is, if it doesn’t improve soon I will have to consider another brand of hearing aids that is supported by good and functional software..Version: 1.2.2

Zero starsApp takes too long to connect. Connection drops frequently. Fix please! Next to worthless now..Version: 1.2.2
