✓ Great game, money grabbing DevsThe best way to describe this game is Tiny Towers meets FTL Once you make it past the first couple days of upgrading the game becomes increasingly more interesting as you unlock Rooms, weapons, crews and bigger ships to dominate other players. I would rate this game higher but I experienced an issue with my Subscription trial, more specifically getting billed early for using the trial. The trial advertises "1 month" before you must pay for your subscription however after 14 days I was billed to my account. I wouldn't mind but I didn't even receive all the daily benefits that come with the subscription for whatever reason as a few days it didn't seem to have registered. As a result of this I refuse rate the game higher, which is a shame really. The game has a great community behind it and is truelly enjoyable to pass the time..Version: 0.76
✓ Promising but buggyVery fun in principle, simple UI with a retro graphics design. Gameplay is a simple blend of turn-based combat with RTS. Main problem with the game is serious connectivity bugs, which lead to you losing rewards or purchases, and to failing to connect to story missions (not even multiplayer battles). You will frequently time out of single player battles which leads to an error where you lose one of your daily quest attempts for that area, without getting any of the rewards. Still worth playing as long as you aren’t too invested: I certainly wouldn’t purchase anything in-game until they’ve updated it to be more reliable. EDIT: Not worth playing in its current state, the game frequently freezes or times out trying to connect to single player battles, making it unplayable. I will probably delete and re-download at a later date to see if the developers have upgraded their servers, as it is a promising game just poorly delivered at the moment..Version: 0.953.1
✓ Catchy, but fundamentally unbalanced.I’ve been playing for 3 years now, the upgrades and progression is addicting. But in this entire time there have been underlying balance issues in the reward system which reward attacking lower targets, and don’t reward a “fair fight” nearly as much and incur repair time penalty. This causes players to lose on purpose until they find easier targets, turning the entire PvP structure upside down. A myriad of problems stem from this, some of which get address and some get ignored, but it’s treating only the symptoms. This massively unbalanced game problem is completely ignored by devs while they work on new features. Also they have an incredibly high tolerance to people using bots and other exploits, some of which get a slap on the wrist but none have been banned. Even without this, it is possible for some players to play for 16hr straight to great advantage, which is unusual for mobile game to allow such disparity. They regularly drop politically incorrect characters. The track record for bugs in updates is also quite bad. There is nearly always a problem with the UI or brokenly unbalanced number somewhere when an update hits. With these things in mind, I must advise that you do not get sucked into this game. At least not until PvP is shiny-side-up, which considering the “this is fine” attitude could be a while..Version: 0.89

✓ Great game, butThis is a really great game, and as a really big starbound fan, Im so glad a game like this exists! I do think there is a little flaw with the timing limit when attacking ships. I don’t think that it is long enough, and sometimes, its kinda unfair that if you destroy most of their ship, and they barley do any damage to yours, I feel like the player should get some sort of credit. Maybe if the time runs out, then whoever has the most rooms lost or lower HP, would loose. If it is the same, then it will then be a draw, and neither players gets rewarded. Other than that, this game is great Edit: This game also has a few bugs, whenever you are moving rooms in your ship, or if you buy a new one, the scrolling sensitivity is turned up wayyy to high. I drag the room halfway across the screen to place it, and the camera zooms 100mph all the way to the left to where the ship is out of sight, which I find very annoying. And is there a way to keep the camera still while attacking other ships instead of it tilting up and down slowly? Its very annoying when trying to target rooms when their on the top or the bottom. ✓ Week long wait timesWhen you upgrade primary systems like weapons and shields the game literally isn’t playable for up to a week at a time. You have to pay money If you want to play for more than a few minutes at a time. Missiles are crucial for pvp and take too long in the mid to late game to make. If you win a pvp battle you’ll have to wait at least 10-20 minutes to get your missiles and health back. Lose and you’re waiting a minimum of half an hour before you can do anything again. 2/10 pay to play, futuristic waiting simulator. Feels like an EA title P.S. nice fake 5 star reviews I’m sure the developers payed a lot for all of those..Version: 0.70

✓ Game is fun when it worksI’ve been enjoying this game so far, but the biggest downside is how many times the game freezes. On the start menu, halfway through a pvp battle, any time there’s a loading screen… it feels a bit ridiculous given that there’s many games out there that can run just fine with full 3D renders and crazy animations going on. I’ve downloaded this game probably four or five times over the years, and it has managed to go from completely unplayable to just barely getting 10 minutes worth of play in before it freezes up. I’ve got an iPhone 11 so I really don’t think this is an issue with my hardware, something is up with the game that is making it trip on something any time I decide to play..Version: 0.989.2
✓ Great potential but...The game is focussed on building up your ship and playing in monthly tournaments, however the tournament experience is absolutely miserable. Poor matchmaking structure means you will continually be matched with people you aren’t eligible to score points off of for the tournament so you spend upwards of ten minutes at a time cycling through opponents looking for one you can attack for points in the tournament. There are a lot of fun things going on with the base mechanics of the game, but when they’re all designed to culminate in a monthly tournament which is a horribly miserable experience of monotonously tapping “keep looking” it kills any enthusiasm for the game.Version: 0.929
✓ Great concept and mechanics, but very strong P2P bias and missing fundamentalsThe mechanics of the game are fairly easy to understand, but difficult to master. The ability to create basic AI for your crew creates a very strong strategic element to the game, and works very well with the limited available space on the player’s ship. However, the game is strongly biased for P2P. Other than just strategy, crew members make or break the game, and as expected, require a lot of premium currency. Proponents would argue Starbux is attainable without paying, but one must watch 25 ads for a measly 75 Starbux... wow... Story progression and mission difficulty is non-linear. The first few missions are extremely simple, with enemy ships barely putting up a fight. Later on, the difficulty increases significantly. Unlike Clash of Clans, there is no feature to store multiple ship layouts. The need for a Fleet Council room is also absurd, and provides discouragement for joining a fleet for new players. I must say though, the community has been great so far and are very friendly. The game has been around for a few years now, and I see what should be fundamental bugs that should not be here. For example, when rearranging your ship layout, there’s a 25% chance of getting an invalid columns/rows move, resulting in the game to reload. Loading times are inconsistent and can vary by minutes... not to mention resulting in app hang ups. Some missions result in an error, but still consumes the daily allowance. Another big issue is this game will rapidly consume your battery. I am using an iPhone 10 and about an hour of gameplay will consume 30-40% battery - seems too high for a pixel art game. Overall, the game has great potential but misses many fundamentals, hence the 2/5 rating..Version: 0.951.2
✓ Golden crap.Art style and music was great. Sorry this game seemed to have more potential, but like others said...it’s a PAY TO WIN. Once you reach especially level 8-9 winning PvP matches are hard, having to keep messing around with weapons and the AI of your crew. Even with immunity to help you “Avoid” hostile PvP matches....you still get attacked...sometimes even when your shield is upgrading! You can lose sooooo many resources and trophies just by 2 PvP matches. Kinda have to pick your battles. Also, the community can be TOXIC. Avoid chat new users if you can. I made some good friends and there, but the game just wasn’t enough to keep me around. I got tired of struggling trying to upgrade stuff, and crew.....and not really getting the full enjoyment of the game like when I was a lower level. Disappointed I eventually deleted it. ✓ NopeIt seems games like this fall into one of two categories.. Games that let you play endlessly but with an insane grind that takes weeks and months to acquire the resources needed to progress. Or games like this one that let you play for 5 minutes before everything you can do is done for that day. Unless you pay real money of course. Yes the game is very in depth and there’s an insane amount of customisation.. but you only get a few minutes of gameplay before you’re done.. a bit ridiculous imo..Version: 0.997.3
✓ Good, but one fatal flaw.The graphics and sounds are quite pleasant. I really love the feel of this game overall, but one thing may stop me from playing very quickly... Hear me out, I’m not anti-in app purchases. In this game some items and cosmetics cost Starbucks. Starbucks are a currency you can either buy or watch ads to get. That’s perfectly fine. HOWEVER... there are two issues: 1. The ads are very rare and you have to spend quite a while just staring at space and unable to do anything else because you can’t see inside your ship while waiting on space balloons to fly by to tap and watch ads. Purchases in this game range from $150 space bucks to thousands. One ad grants you 3 space bucks. (which is what you’ll usually have in a couple logins throughout your day, maybe two ads) 2. With ads being so rare, and purchases being so expensive and absurdly time consuming to grind, it’s important that they actually reward you what they promise. I’ve encountered quite a few instances where I will watch an ad and not get the tiny reward of three space bucks. If I’m going to have to watch about 700 ads to get one mediocre ship, I’d expect each ad to actually award me something. That’s really disheartening. My recommendation: fix the ad rewards and add a daily login bonus that goes up each day the more consecutive days you login, at least up to 30, to keep your player-base happy and active..Version: 0.76
✓ Deffinitely early accessClearly not a finished game. Lacks any form of polish. It’s ok for a little while, then it just turns into an unbalanced grind fest with no reward... nothing you can grind for actually feels rewarding or anywhere near the time and effort. Dev also has horrendous spelling and grammar like... running a spellchecker is hard. If you want to play it’ll be ok for a little while but deffinitely not worth any money. ✓ Sexist edit, ty for dev responseLooking on the wiki, of the common crew, the max hp of women is 3 and for men is 4. It still doesn’t change. Also there are only 4 female identifying of the 14. Sure there can be some with a ‘masculine’ name with short hair. It’s not unusual, but they received a max 4 hp for that. I know u don’t care what I think, but I think they should be equal. Even if they’re common folk. I dunno, I feel like I got really into this game, sent a lot of money because it was heading on the right place, I love it, it’s addictive, but then I saw the disparity, and the wiki main page has a pic of the girl in a suggestive pose on the first page. It’s not wrong, have man doing that same pose for me and I will write this all off. Look, I understand the creative process. You have passion when you make something for yourself and it’s good. ✓ Ehh...It’s got some of the core management elements of FTL (this game was definitely inspired by FTL.) but nothing that made FTL such a great game. I kind of like the fact that eventually the micro is too much and you have to use AI , eventually having this become your AI and builds battle. But there’s no way to hold off from your hull busters and wait for the shield breakers to fire. Next , the AI is rather superficial, only an if, then. This makes it quite hard to program your weapons and crew for advanced battles. Finally, there’s almost no point in destroying systems. Seeing how crew repairs them almost instantly. So if you’re firing at a system what you’re really looking for is crew damage. Rather than disabling important parts of the enemy ship to incapacitate them (you know , kind of like FTL.).Version: 0.982
✓ Please Fix the Apple Watch App!So far I love this game! And honestly, besides pvp battles and base building, the functionality of the Apple Watch app and the great convenience of what it has to offer, is what really fixed my attention. HOWEVER: For some reason, With Apple Watch Series 7, with the most applicable and up to date OS version, the Apple Watch app randomly QUITS upon tapping on the “view stats” option almost inevitably and instantly. This is very very upsetting. It seems to randomly bring me to the “stats” page only sometimes if I keep reloading the app manually on the Watch and tapping the function. However then, if I’m feeling lucky and tap the “update stats” option, I will only find myself even more upset than before as the app will instantly quit again.. Please, with everything you have to offer, I will gladly pay to play this game once this issue is resolved. And give a perfect rating as well. ✓ Needs a lot of work.Instructions and flavor text aren’t scrollable so you miss half the story. No tutorial for using items or entering combat. In fact, the last two missions of the tutorial are essentially just the tutor hitting on you. Ship building is fun for two weeks and then a cash grab. Daily missions are either too easy and not worth doing or beyond your ability starting. Sometimes the daily mission is “lol nothing happened” with no reward. I have yet to find a “weaker opponent” while searching through PVP. As you unlock rooms, you have to search online to see how they work. The only thing that seems to work correctly are the ad links. I plan on deleting this game and trying out some of the advertised ones. Unless you are ready to spend hundreds of real dollars, this game is a waste of time. ✓ Difficulty “curve”I was having fun starting out, but the second I left my starting system, the enemies went from 1 gun light frigates with 2-3 crew, up to 4-6 gun maximum upgraded medium and heavy destroyers with 8 crew. That means that I went from fighting an enemy that takes down my shield in 2 volleys and I can go blow for blow with with ease, to an enemy that goes through all of my shield and half of my hull in one volley, and has a shield that recharged faster than I can damage it. I didn’t come here for an Idle game where I leave it for a few hours, come back, upgrade one thing, and do a quest once every two weeks, and I am most certainly not spending money on this, because of this is indicative of the future, money won’t be enough. Also, fix the UI, it takes almost a full minute to disable my engines so that I can enable my missile launcher, which is so long that against a PROPERLY SCALED enemy, they fire after I have disabled the enemy and target the first thing I destroyed, wasting the missile and my time..Version: 0.951.2
✓ BuggyWhile I initially liked this title I soon found the constant bugs soured the experience. The game constantly bugs out when you try to start a mission and resets you back to the map however it still counts as one of the 5 daily attempts at a mission, the game also regularly errors when changing counters or moving objects and resets to before that action. ✓ Needs some fixing.Pixel Starships is a great game, but it has some errors. People don’t have infinite email addresses. You can’t make another account with the same email, and that is a really bad feature. Some people may want to restart like me because they just downloaded it again, but can’t because they can’t restart without registering. Like, why? Is there a reason they can’t use the same email, or can’t begin a new story without one? And also, I used my brother’s and sister’s email to restart several times after messing up my story, and now I had to use my school email to register and restart. I thought I would be fine now, but seriously! You can’t even use the market without registering. Again, WHY? What is the purpose of doing this? Does this protect anything? ✓ Stopped being funLatest update seems to have screwed up the league matchup system - continually being attacked by top level players in the top league you cant defend against when you’re in the bottom league and therefore can’t keep resources for play really makes the game pointless. The developers message says they’re aware but unsure how long til issue is fixed. Would like an option to put an account on ice so I could maybe come back to it one day. ✓ A okay gameI’ve been playing it for a while now but there is a point where you have to start spending premium currency to actually progress. The best thing I thought about this game was it’s story line but once I got up to one of main story’s battles I got stuck as they literally had a airforce and a over powered crewmate with insane healing. ✓ Really?Don’t get me wrong, this game has so much potential and has so many awesome aspects to it but there is just one problem. The time it takes to do anything. The App Store is filled with games that you pay to win and I really thought this was going to be an exception... But what I found out is that its doused with build time exceeding 12 hours or even days, and the only way to get past it is by paying for bucks, not even the monthly membership for $4.00 helps you with the build times. This wait time for anything to build would be such a problem if say you could use your shield, lasers, or anything besides reactors while they were upgrading, but you can’t. You either pay the bucks or wait 12-14 hours for something to finish upgrading, just to upgrade another thing for 12-24 hours. Especially in the higher levels. If you want a 5 hour distraction this is a fun game but if you want to play it for a couple days, be prepared for a waiting game. I hope the developers see this and know that they truly have a nice game but it is a money pit that could’ve been fun if the developers were not so hungry for the next $1 in micro transactions..Version: v0.918

✓ Promising Game BUT...So this game is really interesting when you first start out. After playing for hours upon hours and leveling my ship along with my crew, It has become difficult to do anything that progresses you. The NPC battles are usually fair but at level 10 with your ship and your crew levels SO SLOW that its impossible to upgrade and level them. I think my highest level guy is a level 22 and my lowest is like 12 with 15 men on my ship. I am put up against ships at the same level but all the crew is level 40. EVERY battle it seems. How does one progress in this every battle scenario. I would suggest playing and keeping your ship at level 5 or 6 and just play that. Anything hire you will find frustration and NOT fun. I only invested 8 dollars so I don’t feel too bad. If they fix a lot of balancing stuff then perhaps I would recommend this game. I hope it does become successful but they still have a long way to go..Version: 0.902

You can’t fit every single room in at a time meaning sometimes you have to scrafice reassure collection for defence just in case you get attack!?! Even if you do choose reosources over defence the reosoures you make are equivalent to how much you lose. Meaning when you open the game in the morning, unlike the so popular clash of clans your not given enough reosources to even reload your missile launchers!? I had lvl 10 collectors and didn’t even break even with how much I lost. You need lower lvl ships to be bigger..Version: 0.85

✓ Runs So PoorlyA typical mobile progression system of ever increase build times, but I enjoy the gameplay of using premade conditions and actions to make ship and crew AI. However, the game is insanely RAM intensive and runs soooo poorly and will make your phone heat up like crazy. A shame, because even if there is a lot going on it’s not optimized very well. ✓ Annoying at the beginningThe game requires your internet to *always* be on, so if your internet is spotty it will be annoying for it to load over and over again. The loading is annoying too, it takes 30 seconds, which feels like an hour and sometimes it freezes, so you have to restart. At the beginning of the game you’re forced into an incredibly irritating tutorial that over-explains even the simplest of things, interrupting your thought process constantly. After a few days I found I was further ahead than half the people who played this game simply for making it past the tutorial section. After you get past the tutorial the rest of the game is okay, upgrade stuff so you can get more resources to upgrade more stuff etc. Sometimes you fight an enemy spaceship by dragging your gun’s crosshairs over their vital bits, or just having the ai drag them for you. ✓ Great game riddled with bugs.It’s pretty much a multiplayer FTL. Very fun, and the only gameplay problem being Starbux aren’t common enough to upgrade crew. Now, the technical problem is different. The game has tons of bugs, TONS! I’ve lost starbux because the game tells me it cost no starbux to use (which it than deducted from my in game bank). I disconnect regularly, and even more regularly can’t connect to the server. Every so often the game resets, but luckily it’s a server issue so restarting the game fix that. One time I’ve ever managed to connect to another players game (I was controlling his ship). There is a lot of bug the dev team has to fix, some I don’t know how it got through testing if they do have a team that does that..Version: 0.2
✓ It can be so much better!The game is great! It has fun gameplay, simple mechanics, and nice pixel graphics. The game is amazing, except for some major and somewhat annoying flaws. For instance, it takes so long just to make upgrades. The amount time for these upgrades turns an incredible strategy mmorpg into a a tedious waiting game. It completely breaks the flow the game by making you wait for something as small as upgrading your guns instead fighting other ships. I mean who is willing to make 4 days just to upgrade your ship from a lv 5 to a lv 6. The only way for this game to be fun is to a ton of starbux so you wouldn’t have to wait so much. Maybe if you had made the waiting time shorter I would’ve given a better review. ✓ Pretty neat but pretty unstable and punishes you for itThe game, when functioning as intended, is pretty fun. However at least once and sometimes multiple times per day there will be an “XML error” or a “Syncing Data” screen that never ends or even just a black screen that never fixes itself. And that’s not counting all the reward screens that say you got something and then it never appears in your inventory. Every time it happens you lose anything good you just got and it assumes you were destroyed so you’re locked out of missions for the next 10 minutes to 1 hour depending on your level (the higher you are the worse it gets). An intense pain and every time you think you finally got lucky and found a good target you just barely beat, the game just rips it away from you. It’s extremely frustrating and unpredictable and there’s no in game support, only a button that tries to open your mail app and doesn’t work either..Version: 0.948.5

✓ Good potential, but flawedThe game is built on a good concept, even if it does take heavy inspiration from FTL, which is by all accounts a much better game. I believe that the developers can make this game both fun and successful. There are just a few things currently holding it back: - The game constantly freezes and crashes on my phone, which is an iPhone X. I can only imagine how much worse this problem is on less advanced devices. - The broken English text hurts the overall experience. I suggest that the developers hire an English major or something just to proofread the text before they put it in the game. - The tutorial / assistant character uses very obvious text-to-speech for her dialogue, which is super odd. She doesn't even need to have a voice; people can just read her dialogue. - Other reviews have described the pay-to-win aspects of the game; I don't need to go in depth about them. The developers should just charge $0.99 or $1.99 for the game and make their money that way, instead of having microtransactions. Despite all of this, however, I still have to admit that I have had some fun with the game. That's why I'm hopeful that the devs can turn it around and make a better product..Version: 0.951.2
✓ IAP Scam, insanely annoying gameplay,First of all this is all pay to win. You could have everything decked out and still be beat by someone with a much smaller ship. Second, there’s the stupid “BEGIN” logo that you see at the start of pvp, it stays on so long that before you can see anything you’re already taking damage. Which! Every decision made by developers makes the game less fun for players. Stop adding features no one wants and fix the bugs. The developers do listen and make themselves available for comment, but the problem is that they completely ignore the good advice we give them. Dont waste your time or money. Edit: The developer response just makes my point. Why implement something like ammo used on defenses when it forces people to reload for an hour before they can play after being away? Because it was suggested to you? Dont do things that break your game. And by the way having a playable crew that is a bug everytime the game is full of bugs is funny the first time but gets old fast when it is for sale a couple times a week. I appreciate the fact that you read reviews and respond but take the game back to six months ago when it was playable. New stuff is fun but only if it works and still lets you play the core game..Version: 0.65
✓ Good game but some features are brokenIt’s been 3 or 4 years now I play the game and overly I like it . But i think ( rush commands spam) strategies or the fact the game is more pay to win broke the game. Especially when your ship is at the level 10 and more. ✓ Good, but has some issues.I had plenty of fun early game, I’ll be honest, but because of certain mid-game balancing issues, it somewhat ruined the fun in this game. I’m just trying to get some resources (quickly via PvP), however, even though the ship was of a “lower ranking” than I was, I was immediately destroyed by a lv. 40, 12 hp, and 4 dmg, boarder. This person only had 1500 rating and this issue repeated to be a problem multiple times for me. I may have a higher chance of coming back to this game if you maybe balance the “borrowing of crew” in a fleet. The game is fun, however it is quite unbalanced as well. I’ve heard that you are in the process of making PSS 2 and hopefully you can do better balancing in that version of the game Thank you for your attention! ✓ GlitchyAt first i had zero problems with the game, everything was working until two days ago m, ever since i got into the silver+ league all by battles have been super glitchy and laggy, i can’t even select a target while the other ship has no problems and is able to destroy me easily. i can’t fight back anymore. how can i fix this glitch?.Version: 0.951
✓ Great game but slow loading timesI really liked this game and the concept is great! However it does suffer from some issues; first of all it has slow load times for battles etc basic anything that you have to click a button to do! Secondly it seems very slow to progress without paying to speed up, I just upgraded my ship to lvl 5 and there was a 22 hour wait! I can’t imagine what the next level wait time will be..Version: 0.953
✓ Inability to properly refresh/restartOnly real complaint is not being able to cleanly start over proper, mostly referring to how the game seems to lock the ship that appears on the loading menu as your first choice and not your current one, not sure if that’s due to an old account situation or a bug but hoping it can be sorted..Version: 0.996

✓ Cleverly disguised ad farmThey pretend to be very generous with rewards but they limit you in capacity in reality you are able to hold 80% of what they give you if that unless you upgrade very specific parts of your ship that very quickly become level locked forcing you into either purchasing premium currency or upgrading your ship for vbucks for more capacity / storage. They give you 120k gas for a very early achievement for example but you can only hold 1k gas and they give you only seven days to collect it effectively forcing you to sit there and watch ads for them or pay for storage. Be the product or buy their product it's up to you. The game itself is fun and I would happily pay up to £100 for a premium version but their current premium option is a scam. Nobody needs 50% extra loot in the early game.Version: 0.998.9
✓ Glitched our on meI had 25 starbux, spent 15 speeding up training since I wanted to use the crew member for a mission, went to move them and suddenly it pops up saying that I can’t move them because they’re training and reloads showing them back training in the gym and 0 starbux.
