✓ Not badEarly puzzles are easy and then the end of the puzzles are very hard and they don't give you the answers and you can't move on so you get stuck.Lbs0035Version: 2.7

✓ Petty goodThe jump between Mate in 1 and Mate in 2, is very large. That's because Mate in 2 requires that you push your opposition/computer into making an error/move that exposes a potential check mate. These "seeder" moves are very difficult for intermediate players like myself to envision or generate. I have used the hint button, but all this does is expose a move you ordinarily would never do. It's never clear what direction you should be coming from to find a solution. I think Mate in 2 needs puzzles that state up front that the checkmate can be found without threatening the king on the first move. Without this, you waste a huge amount of time before you realise the check mate cannot come from simply applying direct pressure on the king. When using Mate in 1, I can solve even the hardest ones in under 20 seconds. Mate in 2 takes 20mins to 3 hours to solve some of these puzzles, purely because you waste so much time, either attacking kings when all you actually need to do is advance a seemingly unrelated pawn to get to the seeder move. I have no idea what to do with Mate in 3, I have tried a couple of puzzles and none make sense. I can see the value of the puzzles, but there needs to be some sort of clue/narrative concerning the direction or line of thinking required to get to a checkmate..Shane_MVersion: 2.2

✓ Not necessarily mate in 2I bought the mate in 1 pack, and was quite impressed, so I bought mate in 2. Unfortunately, many of these puzzles are mate in more than 2. The app assumes black will make a specific move in response to white's first move.. And yes, if we permit that, then it will mate in 2. However, in many cases if black were to make another move (other than that programmed by the app), then the mate will take several more moves, or not at all..PauleducVersion: 2.5

✓ This will mess up your chessThis app will mess up you chess, because many solution require a move that will make it a mate in two but is NOT forced. So really the puzzles are wrong because there are delay moves, as well as moves that would avoid the mate. So if you enter some of the puzzles into a chess engine and ask it to solve it, you will find too many puzzles are bad. But if you are looking to mess up your chess this is a great app for that. garbage. .whats worse is the apps still has the same issue since ipad one. and its july 2015 and non of their apps are fixed. update 2016 and still not fixed.LefortfractureVersion: 3.2

✓ Good Program But Need Play ButtonUpdated Review: May 7th, 2013 Reduce stars for no way to play and check alternative answers. I had thought that this program wasn't good. I couldnt solve many of the puzzles and had thought that they were wrong. Puzzle # 17 is a good example of this situation. I spent many hours on it till I set it up on chessgenius where it was solved it in 3 moves. BUT CHESSGENIUS WAS WRONG! The problem is that there are multiple solutions, but they are nevertheless all really mate in 2 moves. I found this out after the programs was updated and the author added a hint/solution option that was surely needed. After the first move, the second move can be multiple move depending on what the computer does. But it will ALWAYS be mate in 2. If they didn't add the hint button I would have never discovered this. So, many cudos and nuff respect to a great chess puzzle program. Everything thing else about the program is good. I like how it has the option to look like a real chess board. It doesn't look cheap. ✓ Good problems but not good trainingI was looking for problems that would help increase your playing strength such as those in Polgar's famous book these problems are not of this type, partly because they are almost all too diificult instead of being more varied in difficulty partly because they are mostly artificial problem situations which have nothing to do with over the board chess.AlexhkurzVersion: 2.2
