✓ Flashback timeI remember losing a LOT of quarters with this game and loved it passionately. This is a nice revisit, but I find that I have to be watching the control indicators more than I watch the action which is disappointing. In the end... it feels like a weird game of "Simon" with glimpses of a really cool cartoon. And I have to agree that the endless lives just don't feel right. Gripes aside, I'm still awash in nostalgia. Definitely worth throwing a few dollars at for the experience..Version: 1.2.2
✓ Please add 🎮 Controller Support 🎮Wonderful game that takes me back to the arcade days of my youth. A settings option to swap the directional arrows / sword buttons to opposite sides would be helpful. ✓ Not too badMoves Not 100% accurate to the arcade version, but pretty close. For example, in the room with the flaming ropes, in the arcade version you have two chances to grab the rope: when it swings toward you both BEFORE and AFTER the scene shows the floor retracting. In this version you are forced to wait for the 'second try.' A few other minor differences. This game would benefit greatly from an optional swipe control system. Swipe left for left, tap for sword. The small simulated on-screen joystick is a little annoying and easy to miss when doing a complicated set of moves in a row..Version: 1.2.2
✓ Way to fast to enjoy the game...I really want a refundThis was fun for the first few seconds going down memory lane with this game. But you can’t react quick enough to enjoy the game like the original. They need an update to slow it down a little for the easy level at least. ✓ You can’t watch the gameThe yellow flashes that show you what direction to push are on the bottom left of the screen. So that’s where you have to be looking the entire time. You don’t see anything that’s going on. I played this at the arcade back in 80’s when it came out and loved it. That is not what this is. If you want that nostalgia, get it on Xbox One..Version: 2.0

They only appear when you have the guide on.I don't use that so the only way for me to see them Is If I use the arcade cabinet. ✓ Faithful, but annoyingThis appears absolutely faithful to the original (and just as frustrating) but it would be nice to play it while watching the animation rather than staring at the arrows. As someone else said the required timing is often a little too strict (no doubt designed to take as much money as possible back in the day) which just gets annoying after the fiftieth time you have missed pressing a direction at the same point by one picosecond or less, and one starts wondering if it is actually possible to do and not a bug. ✓ Amusing blast from the pastHow ironic that this app probably takes up several hundred times more memory than the original. Anyway, maybe the game was more fun when I was a kid. While it was great seeing the animations again for the pure nostalgia of it, the game loses its charm quickly. Unlike the arcade game, this app prompts you to make the correct move, and there's no penalty for doing making a move early. So in a tricky part where you're given very little time to react, just keep tapping the correct move..Version: 0

✓ Dance dance revolution of adventureAll of the way through, pretty awesome, thank you guys for bringing this game back. But one thing I noticed was the impossibility of certain levels, there were times where the only way I could make sure could advance was to play the area multiple times and remember the pattern. I never played the original game but my impression of the game from the stories I heard is that you'd have to "choose your own adventure" rather than a dance dance revolution of adventure games. ✓ DisappointingI have mixed memories of this game. The graphics and the theme always amazed me in my youth, the idea of a cartoon movie where I could make, what I though were important decisions, kept me coming back to the video game to spend more money. And that is the other side of my memories for this game, the ridiculous amount of coins I forced into this machine just to try to get a little further. I had always thought that it was my underdeveloped reflexes that prevented me from going very far in this game, but no, upon purchase it became frustrating clear, if you cannot remember the exact joystick/button with more than split second timing you are going to fail several rooms many, many times. It really prevents you from enjoying the rich artwork and entertaining atmosphere within the game as you must concentrate on the joystick/button combinations if you want to proceed through the game. There was a real chance for the developers releasing this game to address not only this but restructure the game so that your choices had more consequence. The rooms could have been laid out so that you could genuinely explore the dungeons in order to reach the dragon rather than just each room being in random order. Even failing some rooms so that you ended up in other parts of the dungeon. And the amount of time to complete the game was painfully woeful, less than 20 minutes of button mashing with not real choice involved. At the price I bought it that is just not long enough compared to other games that focus on a similar story theme. I really wanted this game to succeed and capture my attention. In the end I do not see that much thinking has gone into repackaging this game for the iPad. There are other games that do it better and for less money.Version: 1.2.2

✓ Updated too much! From 5 stars to 3...from Great to MEH, OK.So, Dragon's Lair v1 was a very authentic port over from the original arcade game. ALL WE ASKED FOR WAS IOS 11/NEW IPAD COMPATIBILITY! But, what you gave us was a completely revamped CROPPED to 16:9 experience. ARG! The iPad is 4:3 aspect ratio. Dragaon's Lair was originally hand drawn for the 4:3 aspect screen, for video arcades in the early 1980s. You've ruined the experience by cropping it to make it fit 16:9 aspect ratio. It does not fill the iPad screen anymore, the black bars actually "hide" what was originally there. We've waited a long time for an update, WHY DID YOU RUIN THIS GAME?!? I'm sure Don Bluth would not approve. :P :P :P ---The game was designed for 4:3 aspect ratio. This is exactly why, when they remastered Star Trek The Next Generation for HD, THEY DIDN'T CHANGE THE ASPECT RATIO, as it was produced for 4:3 format. The HD version, as a result, is amazing. ***Previous review*** (edited "is" to "was"): This WAS a great port over from the original game I played in the video arcades in the 1980s. I was never able to finish the game in the arcade, the "Home" play option with unlimited lives gave me the ability to complete the game for the first time. I did watch some great players in the arcade get much further than me, and even finish it, but, I just couldn't get very far. The intro WAS just like in the arcade, as it would auto-play when game not in use. ✓ Not worth itThis was a very disappointing purchase. The game is basically a press button when prompted on rails game. You have no real control over your character. Like many other reviews say, you have to press the right button as soon as it lights up. This leaves you with no time to actually enjoy the game. ✓ Buggy Implemetation ruins game playI was excited to see this ported into and HD version for the Ipad, but it really is disappointing when you make a wrong move and it takes minutes to recover from the blank screen. Also when quitting a game it doesn't save your position like the iphone version does. Fix these and I will up my rating. ✓ Cool, however...Yes, the controls in tis game are awkward, but that's just the way it's going to be on a tablet. Without a joystick and button in hand to wait for the visual queues, you'll spend most of the game staring at the controllers. This unfortunately makes an almost impossible game maddening, but because I sunk every quarter I had into this game back in the day, I was able to get through it using infinite lives after I bought it. I will also say the reason I played it so much as a kid wasn't for the cutting edge gameplay (as if), it was to watch the cool Don Bluth animation...and to see Princess Daphne at the end. I'm guessing that's the case for almost everybody who buys this game, but what this game is sadly missing is a VIEW mode. Still cool, though..Version: 1.2.2

✓ Iconic but awful to playI remember spending money on this in the arcades almost 30 years ago. It's really not a game. Be warned that you get so little time to make your move that you spend all your time watching the action icons and not the wonderful animation. ✓ Appallingly bad!!The game play on this game is appalling, the reaction time needed for each section is far to short. No wonder the default settings is infinite lives you will need them! Each time you die (and there will be a lot) you cut back to the same intro screen which is very frustrating. ✓ A Faithful ReproductionI was one of those kids enamored by a cartoon show in an arcade machine who wasted countless quarters on it. The problem I'm finding with this game is that the response of the iPad input often lags and results in me watching the same death scenes over and over despite me clearly pressing the bright yellow arrow/sword icon while it was lit. This reduced gameplay to dying several times and then memorizing the sequence to press the buttons BEFORE they light up to successfully get passed a scene. I loved Dragon's Lair and Space Ace but the iPad's input recognition is too slow to keep up with the games' split-second input requirements..Version: 0
✓ More time pleaseAs others have said, great port onto the iPad, but totally ruined by the reaction time you need to make any progress. I swear you need the reactions of an F1 driver, but even then you will see nothing of the game but plenty of the directions part of the screen. I wrote to the developers and suggested they amend to add on a little more time, or even have variable levels that players can use, for example so my kids could play this. They said they wanted to strike the balance between the challenge and making it fun. I would suggest the developers don't listen to feedback and have little interest in ongoing sales, as they have still not amended this. It is unplayable. It is repetitive and was designed to get your coins, so what fun is that at home? Unfortunately, I can't see the art due to the terrible placement of the controls, not to mention the fact that they are unresponsive 99% of the time! So you have to stay focused on the control pad and that takes away from the action, which is the reason for playing any game! I can't even follow the story because of that! You have to stare at the up/down/l/r and sword symbols for any one of the flashing and if you miss by a millisecond all you see is the character dying all the time from one scene to the next. ✓ Very difficult game, shame there is no save stateVery enjoyable classic to a fantastically low price! I never finished the original game when it game out years and years ago, so I gave it a try. The graphics are very true to the original, same with the sound, so that alone should deserve a 5 star rating. However, like the original game it is very difficult and at times terribly unforgiving, if you're not pressing the button at the exact moment (literally when it lights up) the game registers a failure, despite the click appearing blue (which usually means you pressed the button correctly as opposed to the red colour, indicating that you didn't), so this might need to be looked at. -1 star What I really did not like was the lack of a save-state. Yes, the original did not have one either, but we are now in the year 2010, a lot of remakes (even Flash remakes) have a save state or separate game saves, so surely that should not be at all difficult to implement? 1 star 3 stars, it is a great classic on the iPad, I hope they address the points listed above soon and I will address my rating accordingly..Version: 0
